Abstract

Future high-contrast imagers on ground-based extremely large telescopes will have to deal with the segmentation of the primary mirrors. Residual phase errors coming from the phase steps at the edges of the segments will have to be minimized in order to reach the highest possible wavefront correction and thus the best contrast performance. To study these effects, we have developed the MITHIC high-contrast testbed, which is designed to test various strategies for wavefront sensing, including the Zernike sensor for Extremely accurate measurements of Low-level Differential Aberrations (ZELDA) and COronagraphic Focal-plane wave-Front Estimation for Exoplanet detection (COFFEE). We recently equipped the bench with a new atmospheric turbulence simulation module that offers both static phase patterns representing segmented primary mirrors and continuous phase strips representing atmospheric turbulence filtered by an AO or an XAO system. We present a characterisation of the module using different instruments and wavefront sensors, and the first coronagraphic measurements obtained on MITHIC., Comment: Presented at SPIE Astronomical Instrumentation + Telescope 2016

Abstract

Легирование β-стабилизирующими элементами позволило снизить температуру β-трансуса, и, следовательно, температуру сверхпластической деформации титановых сплавов, а также получить стабильную мелкозернистую структуру. Оптимальное значение температуры сверхпластической деформации новых сплавов, соответствующее соотношению фаз α/β ≈ 50/50%, составило 775 °C, что на 100 °C ниже по сравнению с классическим сплавом Ti–4Al–3Mo–1V. Alloying of β-stabilizing elements made it possible to reduce the β-transus temperature, and, consequently, the temperature of superplastic deformation of titanium alloys, as well as to obtain a stable fine-grained structure. The optimum value superplastic deformation temperature of new alloys (at the phase ratio α/β ≈ 50/50%) was 775 °C, which is 100 °C lower than in the standart VT14 alloy. Abstract

В ходе исследования определены вклады механизмов сверхпластической деформации в сплаве системы Al-Mg с добавкой Fe и Ni в зависимости от термомеханической обработки. Установлено, что в сплаве, полученном всесторонней изотермической ковкой, вклад зернограничного скольжения значительно больше, чем в сплаве после прокатки (50 % против 30 %), что происходит за счет снижения внутризеренной деформации. In the course of the study, the contributions of the mechanisms of superplastic deformation in the alloy of the Al-Mg system with the addition of Fe and Ni were determined depending on the thermomechanical treatment. The contribution of grain boundary sliding is significantly greater after multidirectional hot forging process, than after only rolling (50 % versus 30 %), which occurs due to a decrease in intragranular deformation. В результате проведенных исследований было доказано, что добавки Fe и Ni в двухфазный титановый сплав TI–4Al–3Mo–1V позволяют не только получить ультрамелкозернистую структуру, но и снизить температуры β-трансуса и двухфазной области. It was proved that the addition of Fe and Ni to the two-phase titanium alloy TI–4Al–3Mo–1Valloys not only to obtain an ultrafine-grained structure, but also to reduce the temperatures of the β-transus and of the two-phase region. Abstract

Many domestic and foreign observers have claimed that Russians have a unique constellation of personality traits that mirrors their distinctive historical and cultural experience. To examine the hypothesized uniqueness of Russian personality, members of the Russian Character and Personality Survey collected data from 39 samples in 33 administrative areas of the Russian Federation. Respondents (N = 7,065) identified an ethnically Russian adult or college-aged man or woman whom they knew well and rated the target using the Russian observer-rating version of the Revised NEO Personality Inventory. The mean personality profile of Russians was very similar to the international average based on 50 different countries, debunking the myth of a unique Russian soul. The small variations from world norms did not converge with depictions of Russian national character in fiction and the scholarly literature. New items intended to capture distinctive, emic aspects of Russian personality provided no new information beyond the familiar Big Five dimensions. Religion, ethnicity, and beliefs about the uniqueness of the Russian character and the malleability of personality traits had little effect on personality ratings. Perceptions of the Russian soul do not seem to be based on the personality traits of Russians.

For the processes of electrochemical oxidation of alkylarylselenides, implying the reversible electron transfer followed by potential-determining 1st order or 2nd order reaction (taking into account the concentration dependence of E 1 2 due to consecutive kinetics), an extrapolation of oxidation potentials to infinite diluted solution (C → O) allows the elimination of a non-specific adsorption contribution into the effective E 1 2 value. © 1995.

Abstract

Aminopeptidase N (ANPEP), a membrane-associated ectoenzyme, has been identified as a susceptibility gene for type 2 diabetes (T2D) by genome-wide association and transcriptome studies; however, the mechanisms by which this gene contributes to disease pathogenesis remain unclear. The aim of this study was to determine the comprehensive contribution of ANPEP polymorphisms to T2D risk and annotate the underlying mechanisms. A total of 3206 unrelated individuals including 1579 T2D patients and 1627 controls were recruited for the study. Twenty-three common functional single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) of ANPEP were genotyped by the MassArray-4 system. Six polymorphisms, rs11073891, rs12898828, rs12148357, rs9920421, rs7111, and rs25653, were found to be associated with type 2 diabetes (Pperm ≤ 0.05). Common haplotype rs9920421G-rs4932143G-rs7111T was strongly associated with increased risk of T2D (Pperm = 5.9 × 10-12), whereas two rare haplotypes such as rs9920421G-rs4932143C-rs7111T (Pperm = 6.5 × 10-40) and rs12442778A-rs12898828A-rs6496608T-rs11073891C (Pperm = 1.0 × 10-7) possessed strong protection against disease. We identified 38 and 109 diplotypes associated with T2D risk in males and females, respectively (FDR ≤ 0.05). ANPEP polymorphisms showed associations with plasma levels of fasting blood glucose, aspartate aminotransferase, total protein and glutathione (P < 0.05), and several haplotypes were strongly associated with the levels of reactive oxygen species and uric acid (P < 0.0001). A deep literature analysis has facilitated the formulation of a hypothesis proposing that increased plasma levels of ANPEP as well as liver enzymes such as aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase and gammaglutamyltransferase serve as an adaptive response directed towards the restoration of glutathione deficiency in diabetics by stimulating the production of amino acid precursors for glutathione biosynthesis., Competing Interests: Declaration of competing interest The authors declare the following financial interests/personal relationships which may be considered as potential competing interests: [Alexey Polonikov reports financial support was provided by Russian Science Foundation.
