This paper presents the Single-Phase AC-AC Matrix Converter that using 4-units of the bidirectional switches as main power switching devices. This converter can be converted the utility 1-phase sinusoidal supply voltage into a variable voltage of the PWM pattern by adjusting the switching frequency of the control signal and modulation index of the PWM signals. The modulation indexes are 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, and 1.0 and the output voltages are 12.5Hz, 25Hz, 50Hz, and 100Hz. The waveforms of the voltages and the currents of the single-phase AC-AC matrix converter for the simulation result with MATLAB/Simulink program and the experimental result are observed with the passive loads. Moreover, the efficiency is measured.

This paper proposes a circuit analysis and system modeling of an ozone generator using a phase-shifted pulsewidth modulation full-bridge inverter connected to two electrodes via a step-up transformer. The circuit operation of the inverter is fully described. Approximate models of the high-frequency transformer and the ozone-generating tube are given. Model parameter values are obtained from electrical characteristic measurement in conjunction with physical dimension calculation. In order to ensure that a zero-voltage soft-switching mode always operates over a certain range of a frequency variation, a series compensated resonant inductor is included. The advantage of the proposed system is a capability of varying ozone gas production quantity by varying the frequency of the inverter while the applied electrode voltage is kept constant, in order to overcome a high-frequency effect on the transformer voltage regulation. As a consequence, the absolute ozone production affected by the frequency is possibly achieved. The correctness and validity of the proposed system are verified by both simulation and experimental results.

This paper presents the analysis and the comparison study of a High-voltage High-frequency Ozone Generator using PWM and Phase-Shifted PWM full-bridge inverter as a power supply. The circuits operations of the inverters are fully described. In order to ensure that zero voltage switching (ZVS) mode always operated over a certain range of a frequency variation, a series-compensated resonant inductor is included. The comparison study are ozone quantity and output voltage that supplied by the PWM and Phase-Shifted PWM full-bridge inverter. The ozone generator fed by Phase-Shifted PWM full-bridge inverter, is capability of varying ozone gas production quantity by varying the frequency and phase shift angle of the converter whilst the applied voltage to the electrode is kept constant. However, the ozone generator fed by PWM full-bridge inverter, is capability of varying ozone gas production quantity by varying the frequency of the converter whilst the applied voltage to the electrode is decreased. As a consequence, the absolute ozone quantity affected by the frequency is possibly achieved.

Three-phase PWM AC-AC Matrix Converter using 9-sets of IGBT-Power Diode bi-directional switches as main power switching devices, given output voltages of 3, 6, and 9-pulses per half cycle, is synthesized to determine the required PWM switching waveforms for three-phase matrix converter circuit as well as the required PWM switching waveforms for the multiplexer/de-multiplexer circuit. Theses switching waveforms are used to design and construct the various pulses Three-Phase PWM AC-AC Matrix Converter. This converter can be divided by 6-modes and described in this paper. The converter is tested with passive load as well as induction motor load to measure output voltage and current waveforms at different frequencies of each modulation index. Experimental ratios of RMS output voltage and frequencies as modulation index varies for the case of passive load and induction motor load are plotted and compared with theoretical results. Both of them show to agree, and appear to be constant ratio (V/f constant) which is useful for speed control of an induction motor.

This paper presents the principle of three-phase PWM AC-AC Matrix Converter using 9-units of bidirectional, IGBT-Power Diode as main power switching devices. This converter is able to convert a constant utility three-phase sinusoidal supply voltage and frequency into a variable output voltage and frequency of pulses PWM by adjusting the frequency and modulation index of the PWM signals of the converter. The principle of this Matrix Converter is first described in terms of mathematics equations and then implemented in terms of theoretical waveforms. Theoretical waveforms are finally compared to practical waveforms from the three-phase PWM AC-AC Matrix Converter which designed, constructed, and operated in the laboratory. Theoretical and practical results show to agree quit well.

This paper presents a Single-Phase Matrix Converter (SPMC), using 4-units of bidirectional, Power MOSFET-Power Diode as main power switching devices. The converter can directly convert the utility 1-phase sinusoidal supply voltage and frequency into a variable frequency and variable voltage of a variable PWM pattern by adjusting the frequency and modulation index of the PWM control signal that have the number of pulse of 5-pulses, 10-pulses and 20-pulses per cycle. Experimental results are presented in forms of the voltage and current waveforms analyzed in the various harmonic spectra for the different resistor and the resistor-inductor loads for various the PWM patterns, and in forms of the graph of the output rms voltages, the input-output rms currents, the input-output power factors and the input-output powers versus the number of pulses, frequencies and modulation indexes of the PWM pattern.

This paper proposes the measurement of an ozone generator using a phase-shifted pulse width modulation (PWM) full bridge inverter as a power supply. The method of electrode parameter measurement for an ozone generator is presented. An electrode set is represented by an equivalent circuit by parallel capacitor and resistor. The test was performed with high-frequency high-voltage ac power supply. Then voltage and charge characteristics were obtained leading to calculating values of the parallel capacitor and resistor. The validity of the obtained parameters is verified with a comparison between simulation and experimental results. It has proved that the proposed equivalent circuit with parameters obtained from the proposed method is valid which is in agreement with experimental results. It can be used for power supply and electrode design for generating ozone gas. The correctness of the proposed technique is verified by both simulation and experimental results.
