As a means for students to comprehend and communicate knowledge in our technologically advanced and culturally diverse globalized societies, more integrative ELT approaches are required. Multiliteracies is a literacy concept that addresses meaning-making variability in various cultural, social, or domain-specific contexts. Extensive reading activities are an essential component of the curriculum for Indonesian EFL students, especially those who major in English in higher education. Previous research has demonstrated that reading literary texts can enhance cultural comprehension. Reading is fundamental to getting new information and fostering students' empathy for world conditions. This qualitative case study aims to discover the implementation of multiliteracies practices and the student's responses to the multicultural book Amazing Grace in the multiliteracies framework in the Extensive Reading class. The researcher used a purposive sampling of one lecturer and twenty students in the Extensive Reading classroom. Data are compiled through observation and interviews. The data are then analyzed through Saldaña's (2016) coding. The findings showed that the lecturer had implemented all stages of multiliteracies. The students showed various responses to multicultural literature in every multiliteracies stage. Their responses demonstrated that the practice could recollect their knowledge of diversity in Indonesia. They also can investigate the cultural identity and aspects within the text. They evaluated the text's meaning based on their experience regarding cultural issues. Last, they constructed multiculturalism-themed posters as a reflective practice of critical learning. The students' responses emphasized raising multicultural awareness and upholding tolerance. This research provides new insight into how multiliteracies pedagogy can encourage students' responses to multicultural literature. The inclusion of multicultural awareness is crucial for Indonesia as a multicultural country.

Multicultural education is expected to improve the frameworks of educational institutions so that students from various ethnic, racial, cultural, and linguistic groups have equal academic accomplishment possibilities. It is essential for English as a foreign language (EFL) learners and teachers in Indonesia since English has its own culture. This research aims to comprehend the practices of multiliteracies in incorporating multicultural education in extensive reading classes. This investigation used a qualitative case study using observation and in-depth interviews to collect data from the lecturer. The results showed that the lecturer incorporated all aspects of multicultural education in multiliteracies practices using a novel. While generating cultural value from students' life experiences, the researchers discovered content integration, knowledge scaffolding, equity pedagogy, bias degradation, and empowerment of school culture. Multiliteracies practices can serve as an innovative teaching technique to promote multicultural education. Additionally, EFL lecturers need multicultural learning materials to support this and to encourage students to think critically.

While writing has evolved away from the conventional method of using pens and paper in favor of digital tools (Li et al., 2019), English teachers continue to face difficulties in teaching writing. This study shows how mind-mapping and the program, Writeabout, can be merged for online writing classes in English for Specific Purposes (ESP) classrooms. It reports on a classroom-based research with a qualitative research design which includes class observations and essay analysis of first-year undergraduate students enrolled in the Railway Mechanical Technology program in Indonesia during the academic year 2020/2021. The analysis of students' essays via TOEIC-adopted writing criteria showed that the students lacked competence in vocabulary (range: 2-5), grammar (range: 2-5), and sentence quality (range: 2-5). However, their text organization skills were a bit higher (range: 3-7), which was likely due to the course instructions incorporation of mind-mapping techniques. The findings revealed that incorporating the mind-mapping technique and the Writeabout application into online writing lessons can have a positive effect on students' writing.

This study aimed to produce a suitable module to improve the understanding of environmental care concepts and attitudes of fourth-grade elementary school students and determine the module's effectiveness. The data collection instruments consisted of a teacher interview guide, a student preliminary study questionnaire, a media expert validation questionnaire, material and instrument experts, a teacher response questionnaire, a student response questionnaire, and environmental care attitude assessment questionnaire, and a concept understanding ability test. The feasibility assessment uses assessments from media experts, learning material experts, and learning instruments. The practicality assessment of the module consists of a teacher response questionnaire and a student response questionnaire. The data analysis of the module's effectiveness on the ability to understand the concept and attitude of caring for the environment was analyzed using the t-test and MANOVA test with a significance level of 0.05. The results of the study showed that: (i) The module met the eligibility criteria based on the results of assessments from media experts, learning materials experts, and learning instruments that get an assessment in the "very feasible" category to use; (ii) The module met the practicality criteria based on the results of the teacher response questionnaire assessment and the student response assessment questionnaire who received an assessment in the "very feasible" category; (iii) The module was effective in increasing students' understanding of concepts and environmental care attitudes. The effectiveness is shown from the t-test and MANOVA test results with a significance level of 0.001.

"Pear Deck" is one interactive response system that has gained popularity in recent years. This study addressed the gap in the literature and considered students' experience of the platform in a Thai university context. This was a mixed-method study in which 320 students completed a survey including closed and open-ended components. Quantitative data measuring students' perceptions using Likert-scale surveys were collected, while qualitative data were used to get a deeper understanding of students' experience in learning using "Pear Deck" in the classroom. The data were analysed based on gender differences and students' proficiency levels. According to the findings of this study, students' perceptions were not significantly different based on gender. However, despite the finding that both basic and independent users had good attitudes towards the platforms, the latter group gave a substantially higher score. Furthermore, the study revealed that the students had a favourable impression of "Pear Deck." They believed that the platform was engaging, easy to use, and had the potential to aid learning.

This study investigated to what degree students can be autonomous in EFL classroom by deploying different digital technologies, including "Google Form," "Quizizz," "Quizlet," "Kahoot!," and "Socrative," and the efficacy of these tools in online English classrooms. Utilizing a quasiexperimental research design, a sample of 48 first-year railway mechanical technology students from an Indonesian polytechnic was used and assigned to control and experimental groups. Data was gathered through a survey questionnaire and two tests (pre- and post-test), and was analyzed using descriptive statistics, the N-gain formula, the paired-sample t-test and ANCOVA. The results revealed learner autonomy in listening, structure, and reading skills, encompassing self-reliance, information literacy, linguistic confidence, and learning strategy. Digital classes incorporating "Google Form," "Quizizz," "Quizlet," "Kahoot!," and "Socrative" were more effective than traditional classes in terms of learning outcomes. Therefore, this study proposed a learning model utilizing digital technologies and autonomous learning concepts to improve students' learning outcomes.

The textbook "Sahabatku Indonesia" published by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia in 2019 has an important position for foreign students who are studying Indonesian. This book consists of 7 series. The book contains information about practical communication rules and exercises in Indonesian. In the communication training material various discourse units are presented which contain information on Indonesian culture. One aspect of culture that is taught is the moral aspect that accompanies language activities. This study aims to describe the representation and implementation of moral values introduced to foreign students in textbooks. These moral values come from moral values that are unique to the Indonesian nation and also universal morals. This research was conducted using a qualitative descriptive approach. The data source for this research is the 7 book series "My Indonesian Friends". The data is in the form of written verbal units containing moral values and sometimes illustrations are added to accompany the communication exercises. Data were analyzed using content analysis and supported by Appraisal Theory (AT) to see aspects of moral values. This finding illustrated that on "Sahabatku Indonesia" textbook emphasizes inculcating moral values of learners in maintaining harmony and social interactions harmony in their living environment. The moral values contained in the text are as many as 13 moral themes. The implementation in the book can be found in the form of narrative text and picture illustrations. Understanding those moral values made a meaningful contribution to curriculum developers and textbook writers as a basis for consideration in determining their policies.

Authors should attract readers to read their articles from the very beginning of the article; this is important because readers will stop reading an article if they are not sure that they will obtain new, interesting and important information from the article. This study aims to investigate the rhetorical moves found in a research article abstract (henceforth RAA) published in high-impact international journals and how authors employ a research gap strategy (henceforth RGS) in their article abstracts. One hundred abstracts were chosen from ten highimpact international journals in language-related fields (henceforth LRF) for this study. The results showed that the RAAs have at least 4 moves (Moves 2, 3, 4, and 5) while only 55 or 55% of them have an RGS in the abstracts. The most frequent RGS used by the authors was Strategy 2 and the least employed strategies were Strategy 1 and Strategy 4. This implies that, although publishing in high-impact international journals, authors in LRF tend not to use Strategy 1 (nonexistence or absence of research on a particular topic or aspect) and Strategy 4 (contrasting or conflicting previous research findings) in their RAAs but they may address these strategies in their article introductions.

This research was carried out at the Sports Science Study Program, Faculty of Sports Science, Medan State University, and the Surrounding Medan Football Association (PSMS). The respondents in this study were ten athletes and four football coaches. The model that will be used is a Four-D (4D) model consisting of four (4) stages, namely, Define (defining), Design (design), Develop (development), and Disseminate (deployment). The results showed that most (> 95%) of respondents needed an E-Book on physical exercise and diet management for football athletes. They agreed that all physical training materials in the indicators mentioned must be in the E-book. The validation results of the material show that the material presented in the e-book is very suitable (3.67) with what is needed today and is ideal for use. The results of validation of the media show that this e-book media is included in the category of very suitable both for the completeness of presentation and the feasibility of graphics and can be used as an electronic medium for football sports. The readability test results received an average assessment of 3.75, meaning that the e-book can be declared very legible and suitable for use. The results of the different tests showed significant differences in the years before and after being given the intervention of physical training and diet E-books for Football Athletes. Athletes' knowledge has increased, with an average knowledge increase score of 19.4 points. Suggestions for future improvement and development of e-books are like adding more exciting images and multiplying case examples.

Research shows that artificial intelligence (AI) technology positively influences students' writing skills, but this area has yet to be touched by Indonesian researchers. This study aims to map perception, obstacles, and recommendations for optimizing use of AI in teaching academic writing in Indonesian. This article focuses on a case study of three senior high schools in Central Java, Indonesia. It employs quantitative and qualitative data. The researcher collected the data using questionnaires presented with Likert scale, followed by an in-depth interview through mobile instant messaging interview. Findings show that: (1) AI-based learning tools help students to do academic research, especially in the planning step, to identify and develop the topics, as well as in the drafting step, to develop a paper draft; (2) AI-based learning tools are deemed flexible in accessibility despite not being able to cover all necessities required by students in writing process; (3) students are interested in using AI technology in academic writing class so that learning process will not be boring. Although AI has been used in academic writing classes, tools have not positively impacted quality of students' academic papers in all indicators. There are several obstacles to using AI, namely: (1) need for more available feature, especially in editing Indonesian text; and (2) in contrast, the features still need to be optimized. These are the recommendations for the optimization of AI-based learning tools, which are: (1) adding features to edit Indonesian text, including spelling, diction, and sentence structure; and (2) enhancing AI literacy to be able to explore and leverage the existing features optimally. This research has yet to accommodate the possible coverage in checking the originality and accuracy of the written product assisted by AI-based learning tools, which could become a focus for future researchers.

A mixed-methods sequential explanatory study was conducted in Indonesia to measure levels of job satisfaction among 326 secondary school English-as-a-Foreign-Language (EFL) teachers before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. The aim was to identify significant differences in relation to gender, career stage, school location, school status, and school affiliation, and to establish which factors contributed most to job satisfaction. In the quantitative stage, the results revealed that job satisfaction both before and during the pandemic was generally high. With respect to gender, male teachers were more satisfied than their female counterparts. In terms of career stage, levels of job satisfaction varied before and during the pandemic, with significant differences in terms of pay, promotion, security, and professional development. Teachers working in state schools were more satisfied with their pay and security than teachers in private schools. Furthermore, teachers working in schools under the Ministry of Education were more satisfied with pay and security than those working under the Ministry of Religious Affairs. No significant differences in job satisfaction were identified with respect to school location. The qualitative stage partially supported the quantitative findings, with working conditions, colleagues, professional development, and pay identified as enhancing job satisfaction.

This study attempts to investigate students' learning outcomes in TOEFL preparation class through Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL) for Railway Mechanical Technology. The program was designed as a TOEFL preparation class that utilized Google Form, Quizizz, and Kahoot! As game-based learning (MALL platform). It was a case study on the 3rd year students of the Indonesian Railway Polytechnic (N=46). The observation was conducted during 20 meetings (40 hours). The data were collected through pre-test and post-test, then analyzed using descriptive statistics, paired t-test, Pearson r correlation, and Cohen d effect size. The passing grade score determined by the college (480) was also an additional consideration analysis. The results indicate significant impacts and a large effect on students' learning outcomes after joining the English Intensive Program through MALL in TOEFL preparation class. Nonetheless, the program implementing MALL had a moderate correlation and was less effective in enhancing students' learning outcomes. These findings shed light on the benefits and constraints of implementing MALL in the English Intensive Program. Moreover, some recommendations are given for teachers/instructors in TOEFL preparation class.

The epididymis is a crucial component of the goat's reproductive structure. The epididymis is responsible for the transportation, concentration, and maturation of sperm. This study aimed to examine the differences in the structure of macro and microanatomy, tissue composition, and the existence of androgen receptors in the epididymis of Kacang goats aged 4, 8, and 12 months. The assessment of macroscopic organ growth was done immediately after sampling, whereas microscopic measurements were carried out following histological preparations using hematoxylin-eosin (HE) and immunohistochemical (IHC) procedures. The results on the macroscopic anatomy of the epididymis indicated a significant association between age with the width of the caput dexter and sinister and the circumference of the right cauda. However, no significant relationship was found between age with the corpus length and the left cauda's circumference. Significant variations were observed in the diameter and concentration of the agglutinated spermatozoa in the lumen during histomorphometry of the epididymis in three age groups of Kacang goats. There were no statistically significant variations in the expression of androgen receptors among the three age groups. This study showed that the correlation coefficient test reveals a positive relationship between age and the caput width and corpus length dimensions, indicating that these measurements tend to grow as age increases. On the other hand, the diameter of the agglutinated spermatozoa in the epididymal lumen exhibits significant variations between the ages of 4 months, with the ages of 8 months and 12 months, suggesting that the sperm becomes fully matured by the age of 8 months.

Introduction: The irrational use of medicines remains prevalent globally despite education efforts, leading to decreased treatment quality and increased healthcare costs. With the rise of onlinelearning during the COVID-19 pandemic, virtual simulation offers a promising solution to enhance the teaching of rational medicine use among medical students. This study aimed to investigate medical students’ perspectives and needs regarding the implementation of virtual simulation in learning the rational use of medicines.Methods: This study, conducted at Universitas Indonesia from August 2022 to September 2023, used a mixed-method approach to assess the needs for developing virtual simulation in educationof rational medicine use. A validated questionnaire with 14 closed ended and 14 open-ended questions was completed by 281 medical students. The quantitative data were analysed descriptively, using SPSS v16, while thematic analysis was applied to open-ended responses.Results: Students perceived virtual simulations to be the most effective tool for distance learning and suggested features like case scenarios, realistic representation, a good user interface, anduser-friendly navigation. The majority preferred a 10–20-minute duration for virtual simulations. Additionally, 52.3% had no prior knowledge of the rational use of medicines, but acknowledgedits importance. Virtual simulations could be used to explain the concept, management, and implementation of the rational use of medicines. Conclusion: Virtual simulation should be implemented in distance learning on rational medicine use to increase students’ motivation, understanding, retention, interactivity, and focus. The findings might be utilized by medical educators to tailor virtual simulation design to meet medical students’ needs and expectations.

Tamarindus indica leaves are recognized for their potent antioxidant and hypolipidemic properties, whereas Murraya paniculata leaves are known for their abilities to lower lipids and glucose levels. This study aimed to assess the combined extract of both leaves against pancreatic lipase inhibition and analyze their metabolomic profiles as an initial step toward developing a polyherbal treatment for hypertriglyceridemia. The extracts were subjected to Liquid Chromatography-High Resolution Mass Spectrometer (LC-HRMS) untargeted system coupled with Compounds Discoverer software to reveal their metabolomic profile. Subsequently, both individual extracts and their combination were evaluated for anti-lipase activity using pancreatic lipase enzyme with p-nitrophenyl butyrate as the substrate. The combination of the two extracts (0-300 μg/mL, 300 μg/mL in total) was prepared following the Simplex Lattice Experimental Design with 5 different composition variations. Results: The findings indicated that Tamarindus indica leaf extract (TIE) predominantly exhibited lipase inhibitory activity. Interestingly, the addition of Murraya paniculata extract (MPE) diminished this enzyme inhibitory effect. TIE was found to be rich in polyhydroxy flavonoids followed by fatty amides, whereas MPE contained mainly polymethoxy flavonoids, fatty amides, and coumarins. The presence of fatty amides in both extracts was identified as a potential cause for this incompatibility. In summary, Tamarindus indica leaf extract demonstrated strong lipase inhibition; however, its effectiveness was reduced when combined with Murraya paniculata extract, possibly due to primary fatty amides. Further research is necessary to explore strategies for eliminating these compounds and confirming their impact in vivo.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Zinc deficiency is a significant global health concern, affecting around two billion people due to insufficient dietary intake. The extensive utilization of cereal-based meals with inadequate zinc content and limited bioavailability stands as the primary cause for this issue. Children who possess low levels of zinc experience stunted growth and developmental delays. They also have higher rates of morbidity from pneumonia, diarrhoea, and malaria. Inadequate zinc intake has been correlated with a heightened risk of mortality in children due to specific diseases. It is crucial to secure a satisfactory level of zinc in rice grains because of its indispensable function in various biochemical processes that are fundamental for the growth and advancement of plants. A deficiency in zinc can lead to reduced grain yield and nutritional value in rice. Recently, the utilization of registered biofertilizers and microbial technology is widely recognized in contemporary intensive farming practices. Some indigenous zinc-solubilizing bacterial strains discovered can increase rice yield and zinc content in grains. The objective of this study was to impact of a biofertilizer formula consisting of native zinc solubilizer strains on the growth, productivity, and zinc concentration in the grains of three rice varieties, namely Inpari IR Nutrizinc, Inpari 48, and Inpago 13 Fortiz. The study was conducted in a paddy field located in the Inceptisol of Subang Regency, West Java, during the year 2023.METHODS: The field trial was conducted to study the impact of a biofertilizer comprising a group of non-pathogenic zinc-solubilizing bacteria, including Enterobacter cloacae, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Serratia marcescens, Bacillus thuringiensis, and Enterobacter bugandensis on rice growth, yield, zinc levels, and uptake in grains. The rhizosphere soils were the origin of these bacteria, which were obtained using agar media containing zinc oxide as insoluble zinc compounds. Prior to this, the bacterial strains were evaluated for their capacity to dissolve zinc and generate the plant hormone indole-3-acetic acid. To gauge their zinc-solubilizing prowess, Pikovskaya agar media, supplemented with insoluble zinc oxide and calcium phosphate, respectively, were utilized. The presence of distinct clear areas surrounding the colonies demonstrated the effectiveness of the microbes in converting insoluble zinc and phosphorus into soluble forms. The concentration of the plant hormone indole-3-acetic acid was measured using the Salkowski reagent. The field trial was organized using a split-plot design with three replications. The application of the biofertilizer mixture as a seed treatment was carried out before the transplantation of the rice nursery. The seedlings were prepared individually for each rice variety, with a comparison made between those treated with the biofertilizer and those that were not.FINDINGS: The study found that the consortium of indigenous non-pathogenic zinc-solubilizing bacteria significantly increased the yield of rice varieties by about 5.6 percent and zinc content in grains by 16.3 percent. However, the application of zinc containing fertilizer treatments did not enhance the rice yield and zinc content in grains in this Inceptisol paddy soil. In terms of zinc content in grains, the rice variety Inpago 13 Fortiz exhibited a notable increase compared to the Inpari IR Nutrizinc variety, with levels of 40.3 milligrams per kilogram as opposed to 34.1 milligrams per kilogram.CONCLUSION: the utilization of a native combination of carefully chosen zinc-solubilizing bacterial strains could augment the productivity, zinc concentration, and absorption in rice grains of various varieties in a paddy field with Inceptisols soil type, characterized by a moderate to high overall zinc content and limited zinc accessibility. The addition of zinc containing fertilizer treatments did not enhance rice yield compared to the addition of other tratments or control. This is probably because of the medium-high level of the total zinc content of the soil, suggesting that the addition of Biofertizinc will reduce or delete the crop requirement for zinc fertilizer in Inceptisol paddy fields. This implies that the biofertilizer is ecologically sustainable as it eliminates the use of harmful chemicals, reduces the reliance on synthetic fertilizers, and lowers costs.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: To meet the needs of the global population (9.7 billion people) until 2050, a 45 percent increase in corn production is required. Efforts to enhance corn production may be informed, among others, precise N management. This research aims to determine nitrogen dynamics and precise nitrogen nutrient management in corn cultivation using a leaf chlorophyll meter and nitrogen response tests to predict corn yield in tropical upland acid soils.METHODS: This research was conducted in an Ultisol and verified in an Oxisol. The trial was arranged in a randomized completely block design with eight treatments: 0, 45, 90, 135, 180, 225, 270, and 315 kilograms nitrogen per hectare, repeated three times. The chlorophyll content of corn leaves was measured at 45 and 60 days after planting, using a chlorophyll meter. Data analysis was carried out on vegetative growth and yield, as well as nitrogen content in the soil, leaf, and grains.FINDINGS: The study found that the application of nitrogen fertilizer at the rate of 180 kilograms per hectare can alter nitrate concentrations in soil and significantly increases nitrogen uptake, growth, and corn yield. The maximum nitrogen fertilizer rate was 274.5 kilograms nitrogen per hectare, with corresponding chlorophyll meter readings of 52.8 and a corn yield of 8.58 tons per hectare. The corn yield at the rate of maximum nitrogen fertiliser (8.58 tons per hectare) was not significantly different from that at the rate of 180 kilogrammes nitrogen per hectare (8.54 tons per hectare). There was a strong correlation between corn yields and chlorophyll meter values with correlation coefficient of 0.92.CONCLUSION: The study revealed that applying nitrogen fertilizer at the medium rate of 180 kilograms per hectare can lead to an increase in nitrogen uptake, growth, and corn yield on tropical upland acid soils. There was not a significant difference in corn yield between the rate of nitrogen fertilization at 180 kilograms per hectare and the maximum rate of 274.5 kilograms nitrogen per hectare. In terms of sustainable agriculture management, the medium rate of 180 kilograms nitrogen is recommended for maximizing crop yield on the upland acid soils and minimizing potential environmental impacts associated with excessive use of fertilizers. There is a strong correlation between leaf chlorophyll meter readings and corn yield, suggesting the chlorophyll meter can serve as a reliable tool in the study site in determining optimal fertilizer rates.

Abstract Objective Here, we sought to report ABO and D antigen distribution in blood donors from Yogyakarta, Java Island, Indonesia. Phenotype data (ABO/D) from donors who donated blood between January 1, 2018, and December 31, 2023, at the Yogyakarta Blood Donor Unit were extracted from the blood donor registry, and phenotype frequency was calculated subsequently. Results In the 245,307 blood donors collected over six years, ABO phenotype frequency: O (frequency: 38.5%) > B (29.4%) > A (24.1%) > AB (8.0%). The D-positive phenotype was far more common (99.5%) than the D-negative phenotype (0.5%). The phenotypic pattern globally is similar to previous reports in Southeast Asia. The D antigen distribution is similar to world distribution as the most common blood group. For the first time in Indonesia, this distribution of ABO and D phenotype is reported in a large-scale study. This work is a pioneer in the coordinated optimization of transfusion guidelines at the national level.

Abstract Background The increasing trend of antibiotic resistance has posed challenges for scientists, especially in developing better drug formulations. The discovery of new antibiotics could take years. Therefore, the management of an ideal drug delivery system has become a primary focus nowadays. Main body of abstract Almost all skin diseases could be treated with the administration of topical drugs, especially infectious skin diseases. The increasing cases of antimicrobial resistance require innovative strategies and actions. In dermatokinetics, achieving optimal drug concentrations in the deepest layers of skin tissue is a significant challenge. Human skin has remarkably complex characteristics, presenting a major obstacle in efficiently maintaining drug efficacy. Nanocarriers are an important part of nanomedicine which provide excellent drug penetration through various drug delivery systems. Lipid-based nanovesicles, such as liposome, are the oldest and most potential nanovesicles for such a purpose. Several studies have shown the efficacy of liposome-contained antibiotics and offered the lowest microbial inhibition concentration (MIC). It is suggested that liposome also delivers greater drug accumulation compared to blank drugs. Short conclusion Liposome is a flexible lipid-based drug delivery that enhances drug permeation through skin tissue by mimicking the lipid bilayer system of the organ. It is non-toxic, less immunogenic, and easily degraded by enzyme. The incorporation of liposome into antibiotics may reduce the inefficient drug dosage since the encapsulation will protect the active compounds prior to being released from the vehicle. Thus, the lowest MIC and less clinical side effects will be obtained. Graphical abstract

Pulmonary diseases can be associated with the gastrointestinal (GI) system, particularly if an infection causes them. This relationship between organs is known as the gut-lung axis (GLA). Skin and mucosal surfaces are associated with microbiota (bacteria, fungi, viruses, macrophages, archaea, protists, helminths), which can trigger an immune response in GLA and serve a role in respiratory diseases. For instance, asthma can be inhibited by a specific antigen that is triggered by probiotics, the microorganisms found in the GI tract. Asthma incidence can be reduced by consuming fiber due to its ability to protect airways from infection. Pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) are the first immune component to identify microbial compounds in GI and lung epithelial cells. The PRRs then induce regulatory T-cell (T-reg) and Th-17 differentiation. Diet, antibiotics, and stress can all influence the structure and function of bacteria. This is known as dysbiosis. Lung microbiota can influence immune cell maturation and homeostasis. If the diversity of lung microbiota decreases, it will affect intestinal microbiota and may result in chronic respiratory disorders such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, and cystic fibrosis. This literature review explained how the interactions between the intestines and lungs can affect humans’ health and well-being.

Several factors contribute to the incidence of hypertension during pregnancy, including a familial history of hypertension, obesity, and unhealthy dietary habits. Family habits can have a substantial impact on lifestyle, especially nutritional choices. This report presents a case of gestational hypertension in Mrs. DK, a 20-year-old pregnant woman with obesity, who was managed utilizing a family medicine approach. The identified root cause of her problem as an inherited genetic susceptibility to hypertension, exacerbated by poor dietary habit within the family. Mrs. DK and her family was given comprehensive intervention to ensure a healthy pregnancy. This strategy provided her with results in the form of controlled blood pressure and enhanced understanding of her condition and nutritional requirements, as well as strategies to fulfill them. Ongoing surveillance is necessary to guarantee that goals are being met.

This study aimed to compare calcium oxide (CaO) and calcium chloride (CaCl2) as calcium sources for coconut fatty acid distillate (CFAD) calcium soap (Ca-soap) production and to evaluate the supplementation ratios of unprotected and protected CFAD in dairy rations to optimize rumen function. This research included two steps: (1) assessing the protection strength of Ca-soap made with CaO and CaCl2 at mole ratios of Ca to CFAD of 1, 1.5, 2, and 2.5; (2) evaluating CFAD supplementation in an in vitro dairy ration study using a 5 × 4 randomized factorial block design. Factor A compared unprotected and protected CFAD ratios of A1 = 100:0, A2 = 75:25, A3 = 50:50, A4 = 25:75, and A5 = 0:100, and factor B compared supplementation levels of B1 = 0%, B2 = 1%, B3 = 2%, and B4 = 3%. CaCl2 at a 2.5-mole ratio to CFAD produced the lowest acid value and the carboxylic acid (C=O) chemical bond. Complete protection (0:100) exhibited the highest densities of Bacteroides and nutrient digestibility (p < 0.05) without significantly affecting rumen fermentability (p > 0.05). Higher CFAD levels significantly reduced methanogens and protozoa (p < 0.05) without significantly affecting estimated methane production. In conclusion, CaCl2 at a 2.5-mole ratio to CFAD provided the best protection, and its complete protection in CFAD supplementation optimized rumen function.

Background: Glass ionomer cement (GIC) is a dental material often used in clinical practice. However, its use is limited due to its drawbacks. Natural resources such as propolis have been used to mainly enhance GIC’s antibacterial properties, but other properties attributed to this enhancement also require evaluation. Purpose: The study aims to evaluate the surface hardness, the surface roughness, and the water absorption of GIC containing ethanolic extract of propolis (EEP) from Trigona spp. Methods: Samples in this study were divided into four groups: GIC (control group); GIC + 25% EEP; GIC + 30% EEP; and GIC + 35% EEP. Surface roughness was measured using a surface roughness tester. Surface hardness was measured using a micro-Vickers hardness tester. Water absorption was measured by weighing the samples before and after immersion in distilled water. Surface characterization was carried out using a scanning electron microscope (SEM). Data was statistically analyzed using the Shapiro–Wilk normality test and one-way variance analysis along with the post-hoc Tukey’s test to determine significant differences between all four samples. Results: The statistical test showed significant differences in surface hardness and surface roughness between the control group and the GIC + EEP group. However, the test demonstrated no significant differences in water absorption between the control group and the GIC + EEP group. Conclusion: The addition of EEP to conventional GIC can affect its physical properties.

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan efektivitas model mind mapping berbantuan media puzzle dalam membantu siswa kelas lima memahami konsep IPAS. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain eksperimen kuantitatif, yaitu pretes-postes satu kelompok. Populasi penelitian terdiri dari 17 siswa kelas V, dan metode pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah sampling jenuh. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes, observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Data dievaluasi dengan uji-t. Berdasarkan temuan penelitian, penggunaan model Mind Mapping dengan media Puzzle dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan siswa kelas 5 SD mengenai gagasan konten IPAS dengan menggunakan uji t sampel berpasangan. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa nilai t hitung adalah -9,535, dengan nilai sig 0,00. Nilai sig penilaian (2-tailed) adalah 0,00, yang lebih kecil dari kriteria signifikansi 0,05. Oleh karena itu, Ha diterima dan Ho ditolak. Dapat dikatakan bahwa metode Mind Mapping dan media Puzzle dapat membantu siswa memahami konsep dengan lebih baik. The Typology of an artistic work needs to be identified to differentiate it from the others. Specific cultural wealth generally arises from the local wisdom of a community – the floating House in South Sulawesi, which has existed for half a century. The floating House originally served as a shelter during the fishing season but has developed into a homestay for local and foreign tourists. The development process is unique, and it’s interesting to know the type of floating House and the spatial configuration based on local wisdom. The research method analyzes the Typology of floating houses, changes in the configuration of floating homes, and the survival of floating houses using architectural and spatial ethno. Results of the Floating House Research are the development of a Kalumpang, a house where you work and take shelter on the lake during low tide during the fishing season. Its characteristics are the productive houses of Lake Tempe fishermen, who are dynamic, and their configuration moves in groups according to the tidal conditions of the lake. The orientation of the floating houses changes depending on the wind direction. The position of the floating houses depends on the distance to the fishing location and kinship.

This study aims to investigate the impact of electricity theft on PLN and the state and analyze the out-of-court resolution system for electricity theft by PT PLN UP3 Sorong Branch. The method used is an empirical juridical approach focusing on case analysis and field data. The results showed that PLN uses the additional bill, Tagihan Susulan (TS) as the fine, as an out-of-court resolution for electricity theft cases. However, there is an option to settle through the court if the customer objects. Although the number of cases is decreasing, challenges in addressing the problem of electricity theft still exist, and its resolution requires a holistic approach that considers the principles of justice and applicable law. In conclusion, electricity theft violates the law that must be addressed effectively to maintain the sustainability of the electricity sector and justice for all parties involved.

The implementation of object detection for autonomous vehicles is essential as it is necessary to identify common object on the street so proper response could be designed. While single stage object may be smaller in computations, two-stage object detection is preferred due to the ability to localize the object. In this paper, we propose to use Faster R-CNN with VGG-16 backbone for detections of object on the street. We evaluate the method with open image subset by selecting objects that are common on street. We explore several hyper-parameters setup such as learning rate and the number of ROI regions to find the optimum set-up. We found that the use of learning rate 10-6 with Adam optimizer to be the optimum value for this task. We also found that increasing the number of ROI may benefit the performance. This shows that there is potential for getting a higher mAP with increase the amount of RoI.

Over recent decades, nanomedicine has played an important role in the enhancement of therapeutic outcomes compared to those of conventional therapy. At the same time, nanoparticle drug delivery systems offer a significant reduction in side effects of treatments by lowering the off-target biodistribution of the active pharmaceutical ingredients. Cancer nanomedicine represents the most extensively studied nanotechnology application in the field of pharmaceutics and pharmacology since the first nanodrug for cancer treatment, liposomal doxorubicin (Doxil®), has been approved by the FDA. The advancement of cancer nanomedicine and its enormous technological success also included various other target diseases, including hepatic fibrosis. This confirms the versatility of nanomedicine for improving therapeutic activity. In this review, we summarize recent updates of nanomedicine platforms for improving therapeutic efficacy regarding liver fibrosis. We first emphasize the challenges of conventional drugs for penetrating the biological barriers of the liver. After that, we highlight design principles of nanocarriers for achieving improved drug delivery of antifibrosis drugs through passive and active targeting strategies.

Background: The impact of religion and spirituality on schizophrenia patients' lives is significant yet understudied. Religion can provide hope and purpose but also lead to spiritual distress and delusions. It influences psychopathology, social integration, and treatment outcomes, serving as an effective tool in managing the illness. Objective: This review assesses the link between schizophrenia, spirituality, and religion. Methods: The study utilized electronic searches on schizo-phrenics, mental health, religion, religiosity, religious practices, and spirituality using PubMed and Google Scholar. Relevant articles were identified, including those assessing religion and caregivers of schizophrenia patients. Additionally, textbooks related to schizo-phrenia, religion, and spirituality were included. Results: Religion, faith, and spirituality intertwine as integral aspects of human experience, influencing beliefs, behaviors, and mental health. Recognizing their significance, clinicians must navigate their role in patient care while respecting diverse beliefs. The interaction between religiosity and schizophrenia presents complexities, impacting treatment adherence and outcomes, necessitating a holistic approach to psychiatric care. Conclusion: Religion significantly impacts individuals, including those with psychosis, offering both support and complexities in mental health. Clinicians must acknowledge and address religious aspects sensitively, as they can influence coping mechanisms but also pose risks such as non-adherence to treatment and potential for harm. Integrating religious considerations into clinical practice is crucial for providing holistic mental health care.

Indonesia memiliki potensi pariwisata sangat besar, salah satunya di provinsi Bali. Tetapi masih terdapat permasalahan sektor pariwisata seperti, informasi tempat wisata masih minim, sulit membandingkan jasa pramuwisata, dan testimoni pengguna yang kurang. Pernyataan ini disampaikan langsung oleh wisatawan dan pramuwisata, bilamana dibiarkan permasalahan ini dapat menimbulkan rasa skeptis. Maka dalam penelitian ini melakukan perancangan prototipe high fidelity aplikasi Go on Vacation yang mana bertujuan sebagai solusi permasalahan pramuwisata dan wisatawan. Rancangan aplikasi menggunakan metode User Centered Design (UCD), dimana terdapat empat tahapan yaitu, understand context of use, specify user requirements, design solutions, dan evaluation against requirements. Untuk menguji prototipe aplikasi menggunakan usability testing dengan tiga buah aspek, yaitu efektivitas, efisiensi dan kepuasan pengguna. Hasil pengujian pada rancang prototipe aplikasi Go on Vacation menghasilkan persentase completion rate efektivitas sebesar 100%. Efisiensi dengan overall relative efficiency menghasilkan persentase rata-rata sebesar 100% dan kepuasan pengguna pengguna dengan menggunakan USE Questionnaire, menghasilkan persentase 89,08% untuk antarmuka pramuwisata dan 94,52% dari sisi antarmuka wisatawan. UMKM bermanfaat pada meningkatnya daya beli masyarakat dan kesejahteraan ekonomi masyarakat, serta untuk mempromosikan budaya dan tempat wisata yang dapat meningkatkan pendapatan negara pada sektor tersebut. Salah satu pelaku UMKM Semarangan yang merintis usaha di awal tahun 2023 memiliki ide yang cukup kreatif dan inovatif dalam mendesain produk souvenir semarangan dan mendapat respon positif dari pasar. Namun, keterbatasan modal membuat variasi produk terbatas serta kurangnya pemanfaatan digital marketing membuat usaha ini kurang dikenal. Untuk itu, tim pengabdi berupaya memberikan pendampingan yang meliputi, (1) strategi diversifikasi produk meliputi, (2) strategi getok tular elektronik. Produk dari kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah desain-desain diversifikasi produk, tampilan baru sosial media dari UMKM, meliputi Whatsapp business, Instagram, Shopee, Tiktok, dan website UMKM. Dengan begitu, UMKM akan semakin dikenal oleh masyarakat melalui produk yang dihasilkan.

Stunting or a condition where an individual's height is lower than the majority of their peers due to nutritional issues, poses a significant challenge in the village of Lebosari. The relatively high stunting rates indicate a lack of nutritional awareness and suboptimal utilization of local resources. To address this issue the SEGANTING program has been implemented as a holistic solution. Involving the community in the Discovery, Dream, Design, and Destiny phases, the program includes food innovation, the Community Nutrition Corner, and the village's UMKM bazaar. Prior to the program's commencement, the pre-test results showed an average correct answer rate of 40.33. After the program's implementation, there was a 54% increase, with an average correct answer rate reaching 88.00 in the post-test. This reflects the significant contribution of the SEGANTING program in enhancing the understanding of the Lebosari community regarding nutritional awareness and stunting prevention through the optimization of the village's potential.

SMK Negeri 1 Pontianak is one of the vocational schools in Pontianak City that has not applied investment management knowledge in the capital market so students cannot understand the concept of capital markets in the business world. Apart from that, students' knowledge about capital markets is also very minimal due to the low level of literature and practice related to capital markets. It is hoped that this activity will trigger awareness, interest, and knowledge from the younger generation to invest in the capital market. Apart from that, this training also aims to introduce students to investment mechanisms in the Capital Market. This training starts from the preparation stage, namely surveying, determining target locations, preparing facilities and infrastructure for activities, and preparing training materials, including modules for training activities. The stages of implementing the activities are the presentation of material and investment training with simulations using the Motion Trade application.

Fleas are hemophagous insects that spread the Yersinia pestis bacteria that causes bubonic plague through the bites of infected fleas. The purpose of this study was to determine the density, dominance, and infestation of larvae in several types of rodents and habitats in the Pes enzootic area. This research was conducted in May–June 2023 in Pasuruan Regency, East Java. The data analysis method used was descriptif. Samples of rat fleas were taken from rats captured in residential, garden, and forest habitats. The results showed that six species of small mammals were captured, namely, the Muridae family consisting of Niviventer fulvescens, Rattus exulans, Rattus tanezumi, and Rattus tiomanicus; the Erinaceidae family, namely Helomys suillus; and the Soricidae family, namely Suncus murinus, with the highest trap success in residential habitats by 10.9% and the highest density of rats in residential and garden habitats. The larval species obtained were Xenopsylla cheopis and Stivalius cognatus, with the highest flea infestation in the rat species Rattus exulans female (300%) and Rattus tanezumi female (64.2%).

Education has a vital part in improving the nation; if education cannot be regulated, a country would struggle to locate excellent people resources. The higher the quality of an educational institution given by a country's government institutions, the better the standard of living. Previous research explains how to implement a Merdeka curriculum and the characteristics of schools that implement it. This develops project-oriented learning to become more flexible, active, and adaptable. The freedom gives teachers to apply learning methods suitable for students so that the implementation of learning and educational activities is fun, in-depth, and independent. This research aims at providing an overview of the utilization of the Platform Merdeka Mengajar (PMM) in implementing the Merdeka curriculum used in each school that is ready to implement it to determine the impact of the application in empowering all teachers in Indonesia to continue learning and developing their potential. This research was qualitative research with a literature study using descriptive methods. The instrument used documentation, analyzing several journals (research), books, and videos related to the Merdeka curriculum. The result showed that the utilization of the Platform Merdeka Mengajar (PMM) in implementing a Merdeka curriculum with the Indonesia State’s efforts to create a quality educational climate to produce a generation of Pancasila students that the needs and characteristics of students. In conclusion, Merdeka Belajar education, the education system, and its development must align with the educational trends of the 4.0 revolution era.

Focusing on Indonesia's case, this research discusses how booming internet use impacts students' faith, functioning as both threat and opportunity concerning students' religious inherency and sustainable religious education (RE). This qualitative study analyses six public junior high schools and 48 interviewed participants. To reveal various religions' views, the participants belong to six recognised religions in Indonesia: Islam, Christianity (Protestant), Catholicism, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Confucianism. According to thematic analysis, the findings show that teachers and students face challenges in the early shift to online RE, such as technical problems and learning ineffectiveness. These challenges impede student understanding, study preparation and learning motivation, resulting in decreased social skills, lack of communication, declining faith, and weak religious inherency. However, the internet fostered RE continuity during the pandemic, especially contributing to the time efficiency of RE. Therefore, this research formulates the concept of tri-centred religious education, which integrates the roles of family, school, and society to create the students' self-control. Religious values and social norms should be connected to strengthen students' religious inherency.

While gamified technology integration in vocabulary instruction within a flipped classroom has yielded beneficial teaching outcomes, specific studies have raised concerns about potential adverse effects linked to this approach. As a result, conducting a comparative analysis between gamified technology and conventional paper-based methods within the flipped classroom framework has become essential. This analysis aims to foster the development of a targeted teaching approach that adeptly addresses the unique needs of students. This study employed a sequential explanatory research design to examine the effectiveness of flipped classroom with gamified technology and paper-based method in teaching vocabulary to students with different proficiency levels. Quantitative data was gathered from a pretest and a posttest, whilst qualitative data was collected through teachers' guided reflection. Using Academic Word List (300 target words), control groups employed a paper-based, while experimental groups applied gamified technology ("Quizlet," "Kahoot!," "Quizizz," "Socrative," and "Google Form"), which lasted 10 weeks. The participants were 144 non-English major students who took a general English course in the 2nd semester of 2023. Quantitative data analysis ran in SPSS 25 using "Paired Sample t-Test" and "One-way ANOVA." The qualitative data were analyzed using thematic progression. The results showed that gamified technology did not affect students' learning outcomes, while the paper-based method resulted conversely. It revealed that the paper-based method is more effective than gamified technology for students in general, with low proficiency and high-proficiency level. Further, teachers' beliefs admitted distinctive issues that gamified technology was more effective for high-proficiency learners, whereas paper-based was more effective for low-proficiency learners. The difference analysis of quantitative and qualitative data sheds light on discussing threats while implementing gamified technology and possible solutions.

The development of technology and science has progressed very rapidly. Students are required to master various kinds of abilities, one of which is problem-solving ability. Problem-solving ability need to be developed in the learning process. The learning model that can facilitate students in practicing problem-solving ability is the Reading, Identifying, Constructing, Solving, Reviewing and Extending (RICOSRE) learning model. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of using the RICOSRE learning model to the problem-solving abilities of Senior high school students on environmental change topic. This research was conducted at Senior High School 3 of Tangerang in January-June 2022. This type of research is quantitative with a quasiexperimental research method. The research sample amounted to 62 students with each class totaling 31 students who were selected by random sampling. Based on the ttest calculation at [alpha] = 0.05, a significance of 0.028 was obtained, which means that there is an effect of the RICOSRE learning model on the problem-solving abilities of students on environmental change topic.

Purpose: This study examined the integration of task and game-based learning into an online Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) preparatory course taught at two Indonesian higher education institutions (HEI) over a period of 20 online class meetings totaling 40 class hours. Methodology: Using a single-case experimental design, it engaged undergraduate students enrolled in a TOEFL preparatory course in March 2021 at Politeknik Perkeretaapian Indonesia Madiun (N = 48) and Universitas Muhadi Setiabudi, Indonesia (N = 48). The study used multiple t-tests and one-way ANOVA with "Cohen's d" to determine the degree of impact on students' total outcome on pretest and post-test, as well as their scores on particular skills. Findings: Multiple paired-sample t-tests revealed significant improvement in students' overall scores (t (95) = 15.35, p < 0.001) and in specific-skills scores for Listening Comprehension (t (95) = 10.32, p < 0.001), Structure and Written Expression (t (95) = 5.90, p < 0.001), and Reading Comprehension (t (95) = 5.63, p < 0.001). Independent t-tests and one-way ANOVA revealed significant variations in students' overall and individual skills ratings in study programs. However, the percentage of students who achieved the required TOEFL scores for admission to both institutions was significantly different. Significance: The findings have major implications for both the lecturers at the two institutions and the designers of TOEFL preparatory programs. This study sheds light on an online TOEFL preparatory course that teaches students through task- and game-based learning. To run this program successfully, teachers' creativity in generating materials (tasks) and incorporating digital technologies is essential.

Critical Discourse Analysis is a theory describing how texts are exercised in social phenomena related to discourse and interests in it. In the theory, language and teacher power are two important components to learn because they are areas of discourse learning. However, the topic of language and power is still rarely discussed, especially in EFL interaction. This study aims to discuss the use of language and the power possessed by the teacher in interacting with students in the classroom on the way student perceptions and its contribution to student learning outcomes. It investigates teacher discourse and teacher-student discourse that occurs in the classroom interaction. Through this explanation of critical discourse analysis, the researcher proposes to distribute the concepts of classroom interaction between teacher and students, the use of the teacher's language, and the use of the teacher's power to show the role of the power of using language in classroom interactions to create good learning characteristics and outcomes. The analysis employs Fairclough's theory and the types of power by French and Raven (1959). The method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative research method that deals with data in the form of words from interviews and questionnaire. The results showed that the teacher's language in classroom interaction is used not only to interact with the students but also to provide the materials and information, to give instruction, and to train the students' skill. The power with the highest frequency of use produced by the teacher during the learning process is expert power, reward power, referent power, legitimate power and the last is coercive power.

Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) provide a promising alternative to traditional solar technologies, as they offer a unique mix of cost-effectiveness, adaptability, and the possibility of achieving high efficiency. This study aims to investigate the effect of SiO2 purity obtained from coal fly ash on the photoelectric performance of DSSCs. The study focuses on varying the purity of extracted SiO2 from coal fly ash as a counter-electrode material and examining its impact on the efficiency of DSSCs. The efficiency of DSSCs was assessed by evaluating the performance of several various SiO2 purity materials for counter-electrode materials. The performance testing of DSSCs revealed that the counter electrode material, consisting of artificial SiO2 with a purity of 99.9%, achieved the highest efficiency of 0.0113%. Subsequently, DSSCs were fabricated using counter-electrode materials derived from coal fly ash with a purity of 52.91%. These DSSCs demonstrated an efficiency of 0.0076%. DSSCs utilizing SiO2 with a purity of 91.20% exhibited an efficiency of 0.0062%. Dye-sensitized solar cells utilizing a counter electrode material composed of SiO2 with a purity level of 72.54% demonstrated an efficiency of 0.0061%. The results showed that the level of SiO2 purity obtained from coal fly ash has a substantial impact on the photoelectric performance of DSSCs, since higher purity of SiO2 is associated with improved efficiency.
