Search

We study transport in the spin chains by employing the Thouless approach based on the level sensitivity to the boundary conditions, $R$. Although spin transport in the integrable easy-axis XXZ model is diffusive, corresponding $R$ is much closer to ballistic chains than to chaotic diffusive systems. In the case of the grand canonical ensemble this observation can be rigorously justified, while in the case of the canonical ensemble it can be demonstrated by numerical calculations. Integrability breaking perturbation (IBP) strongly reduces $R$ which reveals a pronounced minimum at the crossover from anomalous diffusive to normal dissipative transport. This minimum coincides with the onset of the universality of the random matrix theory. Results for various IBP suggest a discontinuous jump of the spin conductivity in the thermodynamic limit, and moreover that its value universally decreases when the strength of IBP decreases., Comment: 8 pages, 8 figures (including Supplementary Material)

The determination of the $DD^{*}$ scattering amplitude from lattice QCD is complicated by long-range interactions. In particular, the L\"uscher method is no longer applicable in the kinematical region close to the left-hand cut. We tackle this problem by adopting plane-wave and effective-field-theoretic methods, which also address partial wave mixing. In addition, we incorporate a diquark-antidiquark interpolator in the operator basis (along with the relevant scattering operators) in order to achieve a better resolution of the energy spectrum. Results show that inclusion of it already has some impact at physical charm quark mass, although it is more significant for larger heavy quark masses, in line with expectations., Comment: 9 pages. Experimentally, the doubly charm tetraquark channel $cc\bar q\bar q$ with $q\!=\!u,d$ features an exotic hadron, $T_{cc}$, with isospin $I\!=\!0$ near the $DD^*$ threshold, while no peak was observed for $I\!=\!1$. We present a lattice QCD study of this channel with $I\!=\!1$, $J^P\!=\!1^+$ and $m_\pi\simeq 280~$MeV. Finite-volume energies calculated across five charm quark masses consistently indicate a repulsive interaction in this channel. These energies are used to compute the $DD^*$ scattering amplitude using both the standard L\"uscher method and the recently proposed effective-field-theory-based approach in the plane-wave basis, which incorporates the long-range interactions and the left-hand cut. Both analyses reaffirm the repulsive interaction resulting in a scattering amplitude that does not feature any poles in the energy region near the $DD^*$ threshold, in line with LHCb results. We identify that the Wick contraction resembling $t$-channel isovector-vector meson exchanges between $D$ and $D^*$ plays a key role in distinguishing between the $I=0$ and $I=1$ channels, leading to repulsion in the $I=1$ and attraction in the $I=0$ channel., Comment: 14 pages and 11 figures

We investigate the easy-axis Heisenberg model on the triangular lattice by numerically studying excitations and the dynamical spin structure factor $S^{\mu\mu}({\bf q},\omega)$. Results are analyzed within the supersolid scenario, characterized by the translation-symmetry-breaking parameter $m_z$ and the supersolid offdiagonal order parameter $m_\perp$. We find very robust $m_z > 0$ in the whole easy-axis anisotropy regime $\alpha = J_\perp/J_z > 0$, even enhanced by the magnetic field $h>0$, as well as $m_\perp >0$ for intermediate $\alpha <1$ and $h>0$. Still, at small $\alpha \lesssim 0.2$, relevant for recent experiments on the magnetic material K$_2$Co(SeO$_3$)$_2$, we find at $h=0$ rather vanishing $m_\perp \sim 0$, consistent with the numerical evidence of the finite magnon excitation gap $\Delta_1 \sim 0.25 \alpha J$.

Many exotic charmoniumlike mesons have already been discovered experimentally, of which the $Z_c$ mesons with isospin 1 are prominent examples. We investigate $J^{PC}=1^{+\pm}$ states with flavor $\bar cc \bar qq$ ($q=u,d$) in isospin 1 using lattice QCD. This is the first study of these mesons employing more than one volume and involving frames with nonzero total momentum. We utilize two $N_f=2+1$ CLS ensembles with $m_{\pi}\simeq 280\,$MeV. As the simulations are performed with unphysical quark masses and at a single lattice spacing of $a=0.086\,$fm, our results provide only qualitative insights. Resulting eigenenergies are compatible or just slightly shifted down with respect to noninteracting energies, where the most significant shifts occur for certain $D\bar D^*$ states. Both channels $1^{+\pm}$ have a virtual pole slightly below the threshold if $D\bar D^*$ is assumed to be decoupled from other channels. In addition, we perform a coupled channel analysis of $J/\psi \pi$ and $D\bar D^*$ scattering with $J^{PC}=1^{+-}$ within an effective field theory framework. The $J/\psi \pi$ and $D\bar D^*$ invariant-mass distributions from BESIII and finite-volume energies from several lattice QCD simulations, including this work, are fitted simultaneously. All fits yield two poles relatively close to the $D\bar D^*$ threshold and reasonably reproduce the experimental $Z_c$ peaks. They also reproduce lattice energies up to slightly above the $D\bar{D}^*$ threshold, while reproduction at even higher energies is better for fits that put more weight on the lattice data. Our findings suggest that the employed effective field theory can reasonably reconcile the peaks in the experimental line shapes and the lattice energies, although those lie close to noninteracting energies. We investigate chains of interacting spinless fermions subject to a finite external field $F$ (also called Stark chains) and focus on the regime where the charge thermalization follows the subdiffusive hydrodynamics. First, we study reduced models conserving the dipole moment and derive an explicit Einstein relation which links the subdiffusive transport coefficient with the correlations of the dipolar current. This relation explains why the decay rate, $\Gamma_q$, of the density modulation with wave-vector $q$ shows $q^4$-dependence. In the case of the Stark model, a similar Einstein relation is also derived and tested using various numerical methods. They confirm an exponential reduction of the transport coefficient with increasing $F$. On the other hand, our study of the Stark model indicates that upon increasing $q$ there is a crossover from subdiffusive behavior, $\Gamma_q \propto q^4$, to the normal diffusive relaxation, $\Gamma_q \propto q^2$, at the wave vector $q^*$ which vanishes for $F \to 0$., Comment: 4+3 pages and 4+3 figures

The $DD^*$ scattering phase shifts in the $T_{cc}^+=cc\bar{u}\bar{d}$ channel are extracted from lattice QCD for five different charm quark masses and a fixed light-quark mass corresponding to $m_\pi\simeq 280$~MeV. The phase shifts are analysed employing two approaches: effective range expansion and Lippmann--Schwinger equation derived in the effective field theory. In the latter case, the results imply an attraction at short range parametrised by contact terms and a slight repulsion at long range mediated by one-pion exchange with $m_\pi >m_{D^*}-m_D$. The poles in the amplitude across the complex energy plane are extracted and their trajectories are discussed as the charm quark mass is varied. Two complex conjugate poles corresponding to a resonance below threshold are found for $m_c$ close to the physical value. They turn into a pair of virtual states at the largest $m_c$ studied. With further increasing $m_c$, one virtual pole representing $T_{cc}^+$ is expected to move towards the two-body threshold and turn into a bound state. Hilbert space fragmentation is an ergodicity breaking phenomenon, in which Hamiltonian shatters into exponentially many dynamically disconnected sectors. In many fragmented systems, these sectors can be labelled by statistically localized integrals of motion, which are {\em nonlocal} operators. We study the paradigmatic nearest-neighbor pair hopping (PH) model exhibiting the so-called strong fragmentation. We show that this model hosts local integrals of motion (LIOMs), which correspond to frozen density modes with long wavelengths. The latter modes become subdiffusive when longer-range pair hoppings are allowed. Finally, we make a connection with a tilted (Stark) chain. Contrary to the dipole-conserving effective models, the tilted chain is shown to support either Hamiltonian or dipole moment as an LIOM. Numerical results are obtained from a numerical algorithm, in which finding LIOMs is reduced to the data compression problem.

We perform a lattice simulation to investigate the doubly charmed tetraquark $T^+_{cc}$ observed by the LHCb collaboration, slightly below the $D^{*+}D^0$ threshold, with flavor content $cc\bar{u}\bar{d}$ and isospin-$0$. Two-meson interpolators are implemented to explore the isospin quantum numbers $I=0$ and $I=1$. We observe attraction near the $DD^*$ threshold for $I=0$ and repulsion for $I=1$. Moreover, we also include diquark-antidiquark interpolators to study their effect on the energy spectrum. There is no significant shift in the ground state energy when adding diquark-antidiquark interpolators to the interpolator basis when the heavy quark mass is close to the physical charm quark mass. However, we observe a non-negligible shift in the second energy level. This effect has to be taken into account to extract the scattering amplitude of the $T^+_{cc}$. Finally, with a higher mass (close to the bottom quark), the ground state is shifted down significantly. We study the transport dynamics of an interacting tilted (Stark) chain. We show that the crossover between diffusive and subdiffusive dynamics is governed by $F\sqrt{L}$, where $F$ is the strength of the field, and $L$ is the wave-length of the excitation. While the subdiffusive dynamics persist for large fields, the corresponding transport coefficient is exponentially suppressed with $F$ so that the finite-time dynamics appear almost frozen. We explain the crossover scale between the diffusive and subdiffusive transport by bounding the dynamics of the dipole moment for arbitrary initial state. We also prove its emergent conservation at infinite temperature. Consequently, the studied chain is one of the simplest experimentally realizable models for which numerical data are consistent with the hydrodynamics of fractons., Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures (including Supplementary Material). Motivated by recent experiments on a compound {displaying Ising-like short-range correlations on the triangular lattice, we study the anisotropic easy-axis spin-$1/2$ Heisenberg model on the triangular and kagome lattice} by performing numerical calculations of finite-temperature properties, in particular of static spin structure factor and of thermodynamic quantities, on systems with up to 36 sites. On the triangular lattice, the low-temperature spin structure factor {exhibits long-range} spin correlations in the whole range of anisotropies, whereas thermodynamic quantities reveal a crossover upon increasing the anisotropy, most pronounced in the vanishing generalized Wilson ratio in the easy-axis regime. In contrast, on the kagome lattice, the spin structure factor is short-range, and thermodynamic quantities evolve steadily between the easy-axis and the isotropic case, consistent with the interpretation in terms of {a} spin liquid., Comment: 9 pages

This document presents the initial scientific case for upgrading the Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility (CEBAF) at Jefferson Lab (JLab) to 22 GeV. It is the result of a community effort, incorporating insights from a series of workshops conducted between March 2022 and April 2023. With a track record of over 25 years in delivering the world's most intense and precise multi-GeV electron beams, CEBAF's potential for a higher energy upgrade presents a unique opportunity for an innovative nuclear physics program, which seamlessly integrates a rich historical background with a promising future. The proposed physics program encompass a diverse range of investigations centered around the nonperturbative dynamics inherent in hadron structure and the exploration of strongly interacting systems. It builds upon the exceptional capabilities of CEBAF in high-luminosity operations, the availability of existing or planned Hall equipment, and recent advancements in accelerator technology. The proposed program cover various scientific topics, including Hadron Spectroscopy, Partonic Structure and Spin, Hadronization and Transverse Momentum, Spatial Structure, Mechanical Properties, Form Factors and Emergent Hadron Mass, Hadron-Quark Transition, and Nuclear Dynamics at Extreme Conditions, as well as QCD Confinement and Fundamental Symmetries. Each topic highlights the key measurements achievable at a 22 GeV CEBAF accelerator. Furthermore, this document outlines the significant physics outcomes and unique aspects of these programs that distinguish them from other existing or planned facilities. In recent years the ergodicity of disordered spin chains has been investigated via extensive numerical studies of the level statistics or the transport properties. However, a clear relationship between these results has yet to be established. We present the relation between the diffusion constant and the energy-level structure, which leads to the Thouless localization criterion. Together with the exponential-like dependence of the diffusion constant on the strength of quasiperiodic or random fields, the Thouless criterion explains the nearly linear drift with the system size of the crossover/transition to the nonergodic regime. Moreover, we show that the Heisenberg spin chain in the presence of the quasiperiodic fields can be well approached via a sequence of simple periodic systems, where diffusion remains finite even at large fields.

Many mesons with properties incompatible with a $\bar cc$ structure have already been discovered, e.g. the $Z_c$ mesons with isospin 1. We investigate the spectrum of exotic charmonium-like mesons using lattice QCD. The focus is on $\bar cc \bar qq$ states with $J^{PC}=1^{+\pm}$ and isospin 1. This is the first study of four-quark states with these quantum numbers, a non-zero total momentum and two different lattice volumes. We extract the energy levels and determine the scattering length for $D\bar D^*$ scattering close to the threshold using L\"uscher's formalism. Our preliminary results show that the energy shifts for eigenstates dominated by $D\bar{D}^*$ are very small in the $1^{++}$ channel and consistent with zero in the $1^{+-}$ channel., Comment: 9 pages, 2 figures, contribution to the 39th International Symposium on Lattice Field Theory (LATTICE2022)

The isotropic Heisenberg chain represents a particular case of an integrable many-body system exhibiting superdiffusive spin transport at finite temperatures. Here, we show that this model has distinct properties also at finite magnetization $m\ne0$, even upon introducing the SU(2) invariant perturbations. Specifically, we observe nonmonotonic dependence of the diffusion constant ${\cal D}_0(\Delta)$ on the spin anisotropy $\Delta$, with a pronounced maximum at $\Delta =1$. The latter dependence remains true also in the zero magnetization sector, with superdiffusion at $\Delta=1$ that is remarkably stable against isotropic perturbation (at least in finite-size systems), consistent with recent experiments with cold atoms., Comment: 5+5 pages, 4+5 figures

A review of QCD-based theory approaches to study the heavy-flavor and exotic hadrons is given. The focus is on the results from lattice QCD and from lattice QCD complemented by effective field theories. Both approaches are first briefly introduced and applied in few examples. Placing quantum materials into optical cavities provides a unique platform for controlling quantum cooperative properties of matter, via both weak and strong light-matter coupling. Here we report the experimental evidence of reversible cavity control of a metal-to-insulator phase transition in a correlated solid-state material. We embed the charge density wave material 1T-TaS$_{2}$ into cryogenic tunable terahertz cavities and show that a switch between conductive and insulating behaviors, associated with a large change in the sample temperature, is obtained by mechanically tuning the distance between the cavity mirrors and their alignment. The large thermal modification observed is indicative of a Purcell-like scenario in which the spectral profile of the cavity modifies the energy exchange between the material and the external electromagnetic field. Lattice gauge theory continues to be a powerful theoretical and computational approach to simulating strongly interacting quantum field theories, whose applications permeate almost all disciplines of modern-day research in High-Energy Physics. Whether it is to enable precision quark- and lepton-flavor physics, to uncover signals of new physics in nucleons and nuclei, to elucidate hadron structure and spectrum, to serve as a numerical laboratory to reach beyond the Standard Model, or to invent and improve state-of-the-art computational paradigms, the lattice-gauge-theory program is in a prime position to impact the course of developments and enhance discovery potential of a vibrant experimental program in High-Energy Physics over the coming decade. This projection is based on abundant successful results that have emerged using lattice gauge theory over the years: on continued improvement in theoretical frameworks and algorithmic suits; on the forthcoming transition into the exascale era of high-performance computing; and on a skillful, dedicated, and organized community of lattice gauge theorists in the U.S. and worldwide. We study the electronic thermal conductivity $\kappa_\textrm{el}$ and the thermal diffusion constant $D_\textrm{Q,el}$ in the square lattice Hubbard model using the finite-temperature Lanczos method. We exploit the Nernst-Einstein relation for thermal transport and interpret the strong non-monotonous temperature dependence of $\kappa_\textrm{el}$ in terms of that of $D_\textrm{Q,el}$ and the electronic specific heat $c_\textrm{el}$. We present also the results for the Heisenberg model on a square lattice and ladder geometries. We study the effects of doping and consider the doped case also with the dynamical mean-field theory. We show that $\kappa_\textrm{el}$ is below the corresponding Mott-Ioffe-Regel value in almost all calculated regimes, while the mean free path is typically above or close to lattice spacing. We discuss the opposite effect of quasi-particle renormalization on charge and heat diffusion constants. We calculate the Lorenz ratio and show that it differs from the Sommerfeld value. We discuss our results in relation to experiments on cuprates. Hadron spectroscopy, the driving force of high-energy physics in its early decades, has experienced a renaissance in interest over the past 20 years due to the discovery of scores of new, potentially "exotic states" (tetraquarks, pentaquarks, hybrid mesons, glueballs), as well as the observation of many new "conventional" hadrons. The new discoveries expose our lack of understanding about hadronic states, beyond just a few low excitations of the simplest quark configurations. Even so, no single theoretical interpretation (such as hadron molecules, threshold effects, diquark compounds, or others) as yet successfully accommodates all of the new multiquark particles, while a great deal of work remains to extract signals of hybrids and glueballs from reaction-amplitude data. This document summarizes the current state of the field from both experimental and theoretical perspectives. On the experimental side, this report summarizes the current, planned, and proposed activities of LHCb and other LHC experiments, Belle II, BESIII, and GlueX, as well as the approved Electron-Ion Collider, the proposed Super Tau-Charm factory, and other future experiments. The anomalous spin diffusion of the integrable easy-axis Heisenberg chain originates in the ballistic transport of symmetry sectors with nonzero magnetization. Ballistic transport is replaced by normal dissipative transport in all magnetization sectors upon introducing the integrability-breaking perturbations, including external driving. Such behavior implies that the diffusion constant obtained for the integrable model is relevant for the spread of spin excitations but not for the spin conductivity. We present numerical results for closed systems and driven open systems, indicating that the diffusion constant shows a discontinuous variation as the function of perturbation strength.

In recent years there has been a rapidly growing body of experimental evidence for existence of exotic, multiquark hadrons, i.e. mesons which contain additional quarks, beyond the usual quark-antiquark pair and baryons which consist of more than three quarks. In all cases with robust evidence they contain at least one heavy quark Q=c or b, the majority including two heavy quarks. Two key theoretical questions have been triggered by these discoveries: (a) how are quarks organized inside these multiquark states -- as compact objects with all quarks within one confinement volume, interacting via color forces, perhaps with an important role played by diquarks, or as deuteron-like hadronic molecules, bound by light-meson exchange? (b) what other multiquark states should we expect? The two questions are tightly intertwined. Each of the interpretations provides a natural explanation of parts of the data, but neither explains all of the data. It is quite possible that both kinds of structures appear in Nature. It may also be the case that certain states are superpositions of the compact and molecular configurations. This Whitepaper brings together contributions from many leading practitioners in the field, representing a wide spectrum of theoretical interpretations. The status and prospects for investigations of exotic and conventional hadrons with lattice QCD are discussed. The majority of hadrons decay strongly via one or multiple decay-channels, including most of the experimentally discovered exotic hadrons. Despite this difficult challenge, the properties of several hadronic resonances have been determined within lattice QCD. The doubly charm tetraquark with flavor $cc\bar u\bar d$ and isospin $I\!=\!0$ is investigated by calculating the $DD^*$ scattering amplitude with lattice QCD. The simulation is done on CLS ensembles with dynamical $u/d,s$ quarks and $m_\pi\simeq 280~$MeV for two charm quark masses, one slightly larger and one slightly lower than the physical value. The scattering amplitudes for partial waves $l=0,1$ are extracted near-threshold via the L\"uscher's method by considering systems with total momenta $PL/(2\pi)=0,1,\sqrt{2},2$ on two spatial volumes. A virtual bound state pole in the $DD^*$ scattering amplitude with $l=0$ is found $9.9_{-7.1}^{+3.6}~$MeV below $DD^*$ threshold for the charm quark mass closer to the physical value. This pole is likely related to the doubly charm tetraquark discovered by LHCb less than $1~$MeV below $D^0D^{*+}$ threshold. We numerically study the relaxation of correlation functions in weakly perturbed integrable XXZ chain. The decay of the spin-current and the energy-current correlations at zero magnetization are well described by single, but quite distinct, relaxation rates governed by the square of the perturbation strength $g$. However, at finite magnetization a single correlation function reveals multiple relaxation rates. The result can be understood in terms of multi-scale relaxation scenario, where various relaxation times are linked with various quantities which are conserved in the reference integrable system. On the other hand, the correlations of non-commuting quantities, being conserved at particular anisotropies $\Delta$, decay non-exponentially with characteristic time scale linear in $g$.

Charmonium-like resonances and bound states with isospin zero and $J^{PC}=0^{++},~1^{--},~2^{++},~3^{--}$ are extracted on the lattice. Coupled $D\bar D$ and $D_s\bar D_s$ scattering suggests three charmonium-like states with $J^{PC}=0^{++}$ in addition to $\chi_{c0}(1P)$: a so far unobserved $D\bar D$ bound state just below threshold, a conventional resonance likely related to $\chi_{c0}(3860)/\chi_{c0}(2P)$ and a narrow resonance just below the $D_s\bar D_s$ threshold with a large coupling to $D_s\bar D_s$ likely related to $X(3915)/\chi_{c0}(3930)$. One-channel $D\bar D$ scattering renders resonances and bound states with $J^{PC}= 1^{--},~2^{++},~3^{--}$ related to the observed conventional charmonia. We study dynamical correlation functions in the random-field Heisenberg chain, which probes the relaxation times at different length scales. Firstly, we show that the relaxation time associated with the dynamical imbalance (examining the relaxation at the smallest length scale) decreases with disorder much faster than the one determined by the dc conductivity (probing the global response of the system). We argue that the observed dependence of relaxation on the length scale originates from local nonresonant regions. The latter have particularly long relaxation times or remain frozen, allowing for nonzero dc transport via higher-order processes. Based on the numerical evidence, we introduce a toy model that suggests that the nonresonant regions asymptotic dynamics are essential for the proper understanding of the disordered chains with many-body interactions.

Belle experiment discovered two hadrons with exotic quark content $Z_b^+\simeq \bar bb \bar du$. We present a lattice study of the $\bar bb\bar du$ systems with various quantum numbers using static bottom quarks. Only one set of quantum numbers that couples to $Z_b$ and $\Upsilon\;\pi$ was explored on the lattice before: these studies found an attractive potential between $B$ and $\bar B^*$ which leads to a bound state below the threshold. In the present study, we consider the other three sets of quantum numbers. Eigen-energies of the $\bar bb \bar du$ system are extracted as a function of separation between $b$ and $\bar b$. The resulting eigen-energies do not show any sizable deviation from non-interacting energies of the systems $\bar bb+\bar du$ and $\bar bu+\bar db$, so no significant attraction or repulsion is found. We investigate the high-temperature dynamical conductivity $\sigma(\omega)$ in two one-dimensional integrable quantum lattice models: the anisotropic XXZ spin chain and the Hubbard chain. The emphasis is on the metallic regime of both models, where besides the ballistic component, the regular part of conductivity might reveal a diffusive-like transport. To resolve the low-frequency dynamics, we upgrade the microcanonical Lanczos method enabling studies of finite-size systems with up to $L\leq 32$ sites for XXZ spin model with the frequency resolution $\delta \omega \sim 10^{-3} J$. Results for the XXZ chain reveal a fine structure of $\sigma(\omega)$ spectra, which originates from the discontinuous variation of the stiffness, previously found at commensurate values of the anisotropy parameter $\Delta$. Still, we do not find a clear evidence for a diffusive component, at least not for commensurate values of $\Delta$, particularly for $\Delta =0.5$, as well as for $\Delta \to 0$. Similar is the conclusion for the Hubbard model away from half-filling, where the spectra reveal more universal behavior.

We present an extended microcanonical Lanczos method (MCLM) for a direct evaluation of the diffusion constant and its frequency dependence within the disordered Anderson model of noninteracting particles. The method allows to study systems beyond $10^6$ sites of hypercubic lattices in $ d = 3- 7$ dimensions. Below the transition to localization, where we confirm dynamical scaling behavour, of interest is a wide region of incoherent diffusion, similar to percolating phenomena and to interacting many-body localized systems.

We study the ballistic transport in integrable lattice models, i.e., the spin XXZ and Hubbard chains, close to the noninteracting limit. The stiffnesses of spin and charge currents reveal, at high temperatures, a discontinuous reduction (jump) when the interaction is introduced. We show that the jumps are related to the large degeneracy of the parent noninteracting models. These degeneracies are properly captured by the degenerate perturbation calculations which may be performed for large systems. We find that the discontinuities and the quasilocality of the conserved current in this limit can be traced back to the nonlocal character of an effective interaction. From the latter observation we identify a class of observables which show discontinuities in both models. We also argue that the known local conserved quantities are insufficient to explain the stiffnesses in the Hubbard chain in the regime of weak interaction., Comment: updated version of the manuscript

We calculate the coupling between a vector resonance and two Goldstone bosons in $SU(2)$ gauge theory with $N_f=2$ Dirac fermions in the fundamental representation. The considered theory can be used to construct a minimal Composite Higgs models. The coupling is related to the width of the vector resonance and we determine it by simulating the scattering of two Goldstone bosons where the resonance is produced. The resulting coupling is $g_{\rm{VPP}}=7.8\pm 0.6$, not far from $g_{\rho\pi \pi}\simeq 6$ in QCD. This is the first lattice calculation of the resonance properties for a minimal UV completion. This coupling controls the production cross section of the lightest expected resonance at the LHC and enters into other tests of the Standard Model, from Vector Boson Fusion to electroweak precision tests. Our prediction is crucial to constrain the model using lattice input and for understanding the behavior of the vector meson production cross section as a function of the underlying gauge theory. We also extract the coupling $g_{\rm{VPP}}^{\rm{KSRF}} =9.4 \pm 0.6$ assuming the vector-dominance and find that this phenomenological estimate slightly overestimates the value of the coupling., Comment: 16 pages, 8 figures - v2: minor changes, version accepted for publication

We present the first lattice investigation of coupled-channel $D\bar D$ and $D_s\bar D_s$ scattering in the $J^{PC}=0^{++}$ and $2^{++}$ channels. The scattering matrix for partial waves $l=0,2$ and isospin zero is determined using multiple volumes and inertial frames via L\"uscher's formalism. Lattice QCD ensembles from the CLS consortium with $m_{\pi}\simeq280$ MeV, $a \simeq 0.09 $ fm and $L/a=24,~32$ are utilized. The resulting scattering matrix suggests the existence of three charmonium-like states with $J^{PC}=0^{++}$ in the energy region ranging from slightly below $2m_D$ up to 4.13 GeV. We find a so far unobserved $D\bar D$ bound state just below threshold and a $D\bar D$ resonance likely related to $\chi_{c0}(3860)$, which is believed to be $\chi_{c0}(2P)$. In addition, there is an indication for a narrow $0^{++}$ resonance just below the $D_s\bar D_s$ threshold with a large coupling to $D_s\bar D_s$ and a very small coupling to $D\bar D$. This resonance is possibly related to the narrow $X(3915)$/$\chi_{c0}(3930)$ observed in experiment also just below $D_s\bar D_s$. The partial wave $l=2$ features a resonance likely related to $\chi_{c2}(3930)$. We work with several assumptions, such as the omission of $J/\psi\omega$, $\eta_c\eta$ and three-particle channels. Only statistical uncertainties are quantified, while the extrapolations to the physical quark-masses and the continuum limit are challenges for the future., Comment: 41 pages, 16 figures; JHEP version, corrected typo concerning the uncertainty in Fig 5c

Temperature-dependent dynamical spin correlations, which can be readily accessed via a variety of experimental techniques, hold the potential of offering a unique fingerprint of quantum spin liquids and other intriguing dynamical states. In this work we present an in-depth study of the temperature-dependent dynamical spin structure factor $S({\bf q}, \omega)$ of the antiferromagnetic (AFM) Heisenberg spin-1/2 model on the kagome lattice with additional Dzyaloshinskii--Moriya (DM) interactions. Using the finite-temperature Lanczos method on lattices with up to $N = 30$ sites we find that even without DM interactions, chiral low-energy spin fluctuations of the $120^\circ$ AFM order parameter dominate the dynamical response. This leads to a nontrivial frequency dependence of $S({\bf q}, \omega)$ and the appearance of a pronounced low-frequency mode at the M point of the extended Brillouin zone. Adding an out-of-plane DM interactions $D^z$ gives rise to an anisotropic dynamical response, a softening of in-plane spin fluctuations, and, ultimately, the onset of a coplanar AFM ground-state order at $D^z > 0.1 J$. Our results are in very good agreement with existing inelastic neutron scattering and temperature-dependent NMR spin-lattice relaxation rate ($1/T_1$) data on the paradigmatic kagome AFM herbertsmithite, where the effect of its small $D^z$ on the dynamical spin correlations is shown to be rather small, as well as with $1/T_1$ data on the novel kagome AFM YCu$_3$(OH)$_6$Cl$_3$, where its substantial $D^z \approx 0.25 J$ interaction is found to strongly affect the spin dynamics.

We examine the standard model of many-body localization (MBL), i.e., the disordered chain of interacting spinless fermions, by representing it as the network in the many-body (MB) basis of noninteracting localized Anderson states. By studying eigenstates of the full Hamiltonian, for strong disorders we find that the dynamics is confined up to very long times to disconnected MB clusters in the Fock space. By keeping only resonant contributions and simplifying the quantum problem to rate equations (REs) for MB states, in analogy with percolation problems, the MBL transition is located via the universal cluster distribution and the emergence of the macroscopic cluster. On the ergodic side, our approximate RE approach to the relaxation processes captures well the diffusion transport, as found for the full quantum model. In a broad transient regime, we find an anomalous, i.e., subdiffusivelike, transport, emerging from weak links between MB states., Comment: 7 pages, 9 figures

We study a quantum particle coupled to hard-core bosons and propagating on disordered ladders with $R$ legs. The particle dynamics is studied with the help of rate equations for the boson-assisted transitions between the Anderson states. We demonstrate that for finite $R < \infty$ and sufficiently strong disorder the dynamics is subdiffusive, while the two-dimensional planar systems with $R\to \infty$ appear to be diffusive for arbitrarily strong disorder. The transition from diffusive to subdiffusive regimes may be identified via statistical fluctuations of resistivity. The corresponding distribution function in the diffusive regime has fat tails which decrease with the system size $L$ much slower than $1/\sqrt{L}$. Finally, we present evidence that similar non--Gaussian fluctuations arise also in standard models of many-body localization, i.e., in strongly disordered quantum spin chains.

Recent lattice QCD results on the hadron spectroscopy with beauty and charm quarks is reviewed. The focus of the review are exotic hadrons, while non-lattice approaches and conventional hadrons are reported as well. We discuss the recently discovered $\Omega_c^*$, a charmonium state with spin three, $P_c$ pentaquarks, $B_c(2S)$ and $\Lambda_b^*$, the long-standing challenges for theory $Z_c$, $Z_b$ and $X(3872)$, and we review predictions for yet undiscovered states $bb\bar q\bar q$, $\bar bb\bar bb$, highly excited and hybrid $\bar bb$, baryons with bottom quarks and still-missing $B_{s}$ mesons., Comment: 12 pages, invited review talk at Beauty 2019, Ljubljana, Slovenia, minor corrections and modified discussion on charmed mesons in Section 6

The ground state of the simple Heisenberg nearest-neighbor quantum kagome antiferromagnetic model is a magnetically disordered spin liquid, yet various perturbations may lead to fundamentally different states. Here we disclose the origin of magnetic ordering in the structurally-perfect kagome material YCu$_3$(OH)$_6$Cl$_3$, which is free of the widespread impurity problem. {\it Ab-initio} calculations and modeling of its magnetic susceptibility reveal that, similar to the archetypal case of herbertsmithite, the nearest-neighbor exchange is by far the dominant isotropic interaction. Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) magnetic anisotropy deduced from electron spin resonance and specific-heat measurements is, however, significantly larger than in herbertsmithite. By enhancing spin correlations within kagome planes, this anisotropy is essential for magnetic ordering. Two $Z_b$ hadrons with exotic quark structure $\bar bb\bar du$ were discovered by Belle experiment. We present a lattice QCD study of the $\bar bb\bar du$ system in the approximation of static $b$ quarks, where the total spin of heavy quarks is fixed to one. The energies of eigenstates are determined as a function of the separation $r$ between $b$ and $\bar b$. The lower eigenstates are related to a bottomonium and a pion. The eigenstate dominated by $B\bar B^*$ has energy significantly below $m_B+m_{B^*}$, which points to a sizable attraction for small $r$. The attractive potential $V(r)$ between $B$ and $\bar B^*$ is extracted assuming that this eigenstate is related exclusively to $B\bar B^*$. The Schr\"odinger equation for $B\bar B^*$ within the extracted potential leads to one bound state below $B\bar B^*$ threshold, whose mass depends on the parametrization of the lattice potential. For certain parametrizations, the bound state is very close to the $B\bar B^*$ threshold and renders a narrow peak in the $B\bar B^*$ rate above threshold - these features could be related to $Z_b(10610)$ in the experiment., Comment: 5 pages and supplement. The submatrix of the correlation matrix was multiplied by a wrong overall constant, which affected the eigen-energies. All figures expect Fig. 1 are replaced in v4. The main conclusion does not change - Zb is related to attraction between B and B*. The correct potential is less attractive and it results only in one bound state (see Note added)

We present numerical results for finite-temperature $T>0$ thermodynamic quantities, entropy $s(T)$, uniform susceptibility $\chi_0(T)$ and the Wilson ratio $R(T)$, for several isotropic $S=1/2$ extended Heisenberg models which are prototype models for planar quantum spin liquids. We consider in this context the frustrated $J_1$-$J_2$ model on kagome, triangular, and square lattice, as well as the Heisenberg model on triangular lattice with the ring exchange. Our analysis reveals that typically in the spin-liquid parameter regimes the low-temperature $s(T)$ remains considerable, while $\chi_0(T)$ is reduced consistent mostly with a triplet gap. This leads to vanishing $R(T \to 0)$, being the indication of macroscopic number of singlets lying below triplet excitations. This is in contrast to $J_1$-$J_2$ Heisenberg chain, where $R(T \to 0)$ either remains finite in the gapless regime, or the singlet and triplet gap are equal in the dimerized regime.

Composite Higgs models are promising candidate models to address the long-standing naturalness problem in the Standard Model. Among them, the most minimal one is the SU(2) with 2 flavours of fermions in the fundamental representation of the gauge group. An important prediction in these models is the existence of resonance spectrum in vector boson scattering. Here we study the lowest such resonance, which is the equivalent of rho resonance in QCD. We describe the scan of the parameter space using the clover-improved Wilson fermions with Symanzik improved gauge action and then show the first results for the mass and width of the rho resonance in this model., Comment: Proceedings of 37th International Symposium on Lattice Field Theory - Lattice2019, 7 pages

Two tetraquark candidates $Z_b(10610)$ and $Z_b(10650)$ with flavor structure $\bar bb\bar du$ were discovered by Belle experiment in 2011. We present a preliminary $N_f=2$ lattice study of the $\bar bb\bar du$ system in the approximation of static $b$ quarks, where the total spin of heavy quarks is fixed to one. The ground and the excited eigen-energies are determined as a function of separation $r$ between $b$ and $\bar b$. The lower eigenstates are related to a bottomonium and a pion. One of the higher eigenstates is dominated by $B\bar B^*$: its energy is significantly below $m_B+m_{B*}$ for r=[0.1,0.4] fm, which suggests sizable attraction. The attractive potential $V(r)$ between $B$ and $\bar B^*$ is extracted assuming that this eigenstate is related exclusively to $B\bar B^*$. Assuming a certain form of the potential and solving non-relativistic Schrodinger equation, we find a bound state pole below $B\bar B^*$ threshold. Derivation of a reduced effective model allows for a unified treatment and discussion of the $J_1$-$J_2$ Heisenberg model on a triangular and kagome lattice. Calculating thermodynamic quantities, i.e. the entropy $s(T)$ and uniform susceptibility $\chi_0(T)$, numerically on systems up to effectively $N=48$ sites we show by comparing to full-model results that low-$T$ properties are well represented within the reduced model. Moreover, we find in the spin-liquid regime similar variation of $s(T)$ as well as $\chi_0(T)$ in both models down to $T \ll J_1$. In particular, the spin liquid appears to be characterized by Wilson ratio vanishing at low $T$, indicating on the low-lying singlet dominating over the triplet excitations., Comment: 6 pages, 5 figures + supplementary

We present a lattice QCD study of charmonium resonances and bound states with $J^{PC}=1^{--}$ and $3^{--}$ near the open-charm threshold, taking into account their strong transitions to $\bar DD$. Vector charmonia are the most abundant in the experimentally established charmonium spectrum, while recently LHCb reported also the first discovery of a charmonium with likely spin three. The $\bar DD$ scattering amplitudes for partial waves $l=1$ and $l=3$ are extracted on the lattice by means of the L\"uscher formalism, using multiple volumes and inertial frames. Parameterizations of the scattering amplitudes provide masses and widths of the resonances, as well as the masses of bound states. CLS ensembles with 2+1 dynamical flavors of non-perturbatively $O(a)$ improved Wilson quarks are employed with $m_\pi\simeq 280$ MeV, a single lattice spacing of $a\simeq0.086$ fm and two lattice spatial extents of $L=24$ and $32$. Two values of the charm quark mass are considered to examine the influence of the position of the $\bar{D}D$ threshold on the hadron masses. For the lighter charm quark mass we find the vector resonance $\psi(3770)$ with mass $m=3780(7)$ MeV and coupling $g=16.0(^{+2.1}_{-0.2})$ (related to the width), both consistent with their experimental values. The vector $\psi(2S)$ appears as a bound state with $m=3666(10)$ MeV. The charmonium resonance with $J^{PC}=3^{--}$ is found at $m=3831(^{+10}_{-16})$ MeV, consistent with the $X(3842)$ recently discovered by LHCb. At our heavier charm-quark mass the $\psi(2S)$ as well as the $\psi(3770)$ are bound states and the $X(3842)$ remains a resonance. We stress that all quoted uncertainties are only statistical, while lattice spacing effects and the approach to the physical point still need to be explored. A quantum particle propagates subdiffusively on a strongly disordered chain when it is coupled to itinerant hard-core bosons. We establish a generalized Einstein relation (GER) that relates such subdiffusive spread to an unusual time-dependent drift velocity, which appears as a consequence of a constant electric field. We show that GER remains valid much beyond the regime of the linear response. Qualitatively, it holds true up to strongest drivings when the nonlinear field-effects lead to the Stark-like localization. Numerical calculations based on full quantum evolution are substantiated by much simpler rate equations for the boson-assisted transitions between localized Anderson states., Comment: Accepted for publication in Phys. We study spin transport in a Hubbard chain with strong, random, on--site potential and with spin--dependent hopping integrals, $t_{\sigma}$. For the the SU(2) symmetric case, $t_{\uparrow} =t_{\downarrow}$, such model exhibits only partial many-body localization with localized charge and (delocalized) subdiffusive spin excitations. Here, we demonstrate that breaking the SU(2) symmetry by even weak spin--asymmetry, $t_{\uparrow} \ne t_{\downarrow}$, localizes spins and restores full many-body localization. To this end we derive an effective spin model, where the spin subdiffusion is shown to be destroyed by arbitrarily weak $t_{\uparrow} \ne t_{\downarrow}$. Instability of the spin subdiffusion originates from an interplay between random effective fields and singularly distributed random exchange interactions., Comment: accepted as a Rapid Communication in Physical Review B

Based on a complete set of $J = 0$ and $J=1$ spatial isovector correlation functions calculated with $N_F = 2$ domain wall fermions we identify an intermediate temperature regime of $T \sim 220 - 500$ MeV ($1.2T_c$--$2.8T_c$), where chiral symmetry is restored but the correlators are not yet compatible with a simple free quark behavior. More specifically, in the temperature range $T \sim 220 - 500$ MeV we identify a multiplet structure of spatial correlators that suggests emergent $SU(2)_{CS}$ and $SU(4)$ symmetries, which are not symmetries of the free Dirac action. The symmetry breaking effects in this temperature range are less than 5%. Our results indicate that at these temperatures the chromo-magnetic interaction is suppressed and the elementary degrees of freedom are chirally symmetric quarks bound into color-singlet objects by the chromo-electric component of the gluon field. At temperatures between 500 and 660 MeV the emergent $SU(2)_{CS}$ and $SU(4)$ symmetries disappear and one observes a smooth transition to the regime above $T \sim 1$ GeV where only chiral symmetries survive, which are finally compatible with quasi-free quarks., Comment: A new figure and discussion added. Motivated by the success of the flavour physics programme carried out over the last decade at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), we characterize in detail the physics potential of its High-Luminosity and High-Energy upgrades in this domain of physics. We document the extraordinary breadth of the HL/HE-LHC programme enabled by a putative Upgrade II of the dedicated flavour physics experiment LHCb and the evolution of the established flavour physics role of the ATLAS and CMS general purpose experiments. We connect the dedicated flavour physics programme to studies of the top quark, Higgs boson, and direct high-$p_T$ searches for new particles and force carriers.
