We examine how online customer reviews for one generation of a product affect sales of another generation in the same product series. The main intriguing result is that previous generation valence has a positive impact on current generation sales; however, current generation valence has a negative impact on previous generation sales. The positive impact of previous generation valence becomes even stronger (1) as the uncertainty (standard deviation) in reviews for the current generation increases and (2) when the current generation valence is high. In contrast, it becomes weaker (1) as the uncertainty in reviews for the previous generation increases and (2) when the current generation has been on the market for a longer period of time. Other results are discussed. Our data consist of intergenerational pairs of point-and-shoot cameras on the largest online seller of such devices, Amazon.com. We estimate the current and previous generation models jointly, allowing for errors to be clustered at the daily and product levels. In addition, we address endogeneity concerns over the online word of mouth measures by using instrumental variables. This paper was accepted by Juanjuan Zhang, marketing.

We report the synthesis of hyperbranched organic microwire (MW) networks comprising 1,4-bis(pentafluorostyryl)benzene (10Ft) and 9,10-bis(phenylethynyl)anthracene (BA) using a simple solution co-assembly route. Pure 10Ft or BA assemblies cannot produce such complex MW networks; in contrast with a binary cocrystal of 10Ft and BA with a 2:1 molar ratio ((2:1)10Ft:BA), which is formed via intermolecular arene-perfluoroarene (AP) interactions. A new generation of multiple MWs grow epitaxially on the previous generation of MWs to form MW arrays in which BA may also act as an intermediate product to facilitate the regeneration of (2:1)10Ft:BA. Highly aligned and well-connected MW networks enable superior optical waveguiding ability. Moreover, a red-emitting dopant, 5,12-bis(phenylethynyl)naphthacene (BN) was incorporated into (2:1)10Ft:BA host MWs, giving light-harvesting hierarchical MW networks via an energy-transfer (ET) process. The realization of the hyperbranched MWs provides us with deep insight into the rational creation of complex branched arrays from functional organic cocrystals.

PURPOSE To compare the accuracy of the Barrett Universal II (BUII) five-variable formula to previous generation formulae in calculating intraocular lens (IOL) power following paediatric cataract extraction. METHODS Retrospective study of consecutive paediatric patients who underwent uneventful cataract extraction surgery along with in-the-bag IOL implantation between 2012 and 2018 in the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The accuracy of five different IOL formulae, including the BUII, Sanders-Retzlaff-Kraff Theoretical (SRK/T), Holladay I, Hoffer Q and Haigis, was evaluated. Constant optimization was performed for each IOL and for each formula separately. Mean prediction error (PE) and the mean and median absolute PE (APE) were calculated for the five different IOL formulae investigated. RESULTS Sixty-six eyes of 66 children (59% males) with a median age at surgery of 6.2 years (IQR, 3.2-9.2 years) were included in the study. The mean IOL power that was implanted was 23.3 ± 5.1 D (range; 12.0-39.0 D). Overall, the BUII had a comparable median APE to the Hoffer Q, Holladay I, SRK/T and Haigis formulae (BUII: 0.49D versus 0.48D, 0.61D, 0.74D and 0.58D respectively; p = 0.205). The BUII, together with Hoffer Q, produced better predictability within 0.5D from target refraction compared with the SRK/T formula (BUII:51.5%, Hoffer Q:51.5% versus SRK/T:31.8%, p = 0.002 for both). CONCLUSION The BUII formula had comparable accuracy to other tested formulae and outperformed the SRK/T formula, when calculating IOL power within the 0.5D range from target refraction in paediatric eyes undergoing cataract surgery with in-the-bag IOL implantation.

OB associations play an important role in Galactic evolution, though their origins and dynamics remain poorly studied, with only a small number of systems analysed in detail. In this paper, we revisit the existence and membership of the Cygnus OB associations. We find that of the historical OB associations only Cyg OB2 and OB3 stand out as real groups. We search for new OB stars using a combination of photometry, astrometry, evolutionary models, and an SED-fitting process, identifying 4680 probable OB stars with a reliability of >90 per cent. From this sample, we search for OB associations using a new and flexible clustering technique, identifying six new OB associations. Two of these are similar to the associations Cyg OB2 and OB3, though the others bear no relationship to any existing systems. We characterize the properties of the new associations, including their velocity dispersions and total stellar masses, all of which are consistent with typical values for OB associations. We search for evidence of expansion and find that all are expanding, albeit anisotropically, with stronger and more significant expansion in the direction of Galactic longitude. We also identify two large-scale (160 pc and 25 km s−1) kinematic expansion patterns across the Cygnus region, each including three of our new associations, and attribute this to the effects of feedback from a previous generation of stars. This work highlights the need to revisit the existence and membership of the historical OB associations, if they are to be used to study their properties and dynamics.

Purpose of the article. Consists of research of redactional heritage by Alexander Siloty at the border of the XIXth-XXth centuries and analysis of his arrangement and transcriptions. The methodology consists of using resources-studying, comparative methods, and also method of systematization and generalization. The resources-studying method was used for analyzing previous resources and working with the full edition of redactions by Alexander Siloty. A comparative method was necessary during the comparison of the first piece`s resource and its transcription. Method of systematization and generalization consists of generalization for processed material and summarizing of this exploring. This mythological approach allows the analysis of details previsions information at the thymes of arranging and transcriptions by Alexander Siloty. The scientific novelty of the article consists of an introduction to scientific circulation redactions by Alexander Siloty, which are not explored at this moment, and also in locating of the creating by Alexander Siloty arrangements and transcriptions for piano pieces for orchestral and vocal genres. Сonclusions. Arrangements and transcriptions by Alexander Siloty absorbed in itself basis points of edition`s working by representatives of the previous generation, as C. Cherny and F. Busoni. But pedagogical and performable functions in Alexander Siloty`s redactions were actually balanced, in the same moment when pieces by previous representatives were calculated for the most part only for professional pianists. Identifying during exploration this approach in the way of editions` deleting on amplifications and reductions, did conclusions, that they had full right to take place in the repertoire of the modern pianists and in the pedagogical base of professional piano teachers. Modern pianist sets a goal of the technical problem`s solving and maximally exactly represent of score`s text, and left interpretative goals on the second side. On the other hand, redactions by Alexander Siloty weren`t focused attention on the only pianistic tricks. The general goal of it becomes the individual mind through the personality of the single performer.

Due to new technological developments in the world, societies have difficulties in protecting and maintaining their own cultural assets. Values transferred to young individuals through family and education can become significantly ineffective due to the incorrect and excessive use of digital information. Thanks to the opportunity to access all kinds of information and data provided by the Internet, communication and interaction between individuals worldwide has accelerated. It is an undeniable fact that different platforms on the internet have an impact on young individuals having different preferences and priorities than the previous generation. Societies, and especially young individuals, have come under the influence of internet culture because they do not have the necessary knowledge, value judgment and moral understanding due to insufficient and ineffective education and acculturation. This article examines the values that young people adopt under the influence of YouTube platforms in a world where digital information is rapidly transforming, and analyzes the differences between traditional and modern understandings. In the article, the positive and negative behavior and thought patterns that Youtube platforms contribute to young generations are evaluated, and how the value judgments of young people are reshaped through Youtube channels in line with the answers given by the followers of some selected Youtube channels.

Using U.S. nationwide travel surveys for 1995, 2001, 2009 and 2017, this study compares Millennials with their previous generation (Gen Xers) in terms of their automobile travel across different neighborhood patterns. At the age of 16 to 28 years old, Millennials have lower daily personal vehicle miles traveled and car trips than Gen Xers in urban (higher-density) and suburban (lower-density) neighborhoods. Such differences remain unchanged after adjusting for the socio-economic, vehicle ownership, life cycle, year-specific and regional-specific factors. In addition, the associations between residential density and automobile travel for the 16- to 28-year-old Millennials are flatter than that for Gen Xers, controlling for the aforementioned covariates. These generational differences remain for the 24- to 36-year-old Millennials, during the period when the U.S. economy was recovering from the recession. These findings show that, in both urban and suburban neighborhoods, Millennials in the U.S. are less auto-centric than the previous generation during early life stages, regardless of economic conditions. Whether such difference persists over later life stages remains an open question and is worth continuous attention.

Multidimentional crisis which became more visible in the Covid-19 pademic era, actually rooted in the crisis of identity of Indonesia. It occurs, especially when identitys is considered as essential caracters or inherent features of this nation, inherited from the previous generation. The understanding of such kind of identity causes defensive, exclusive attitudes at the level of individual, communal, or even as a nation. In this perspective life is simply considered as an arena of contestation and will end up in the subordination of the others. By utilizing the lens of Postcolonial Theory, I axhibit the roots of that crisis of identity, and also propose a new perspective, which is comprehending identity as a production or a continuous process in a making. This new understanding of identity, I believe, will enable Indonesia to cope with the crisis, and to find ethical foundations in preserving and cultivating their life inclusively.

BACKGROUND There are few studies in the literature comparing the clinical outcomes and radiographic results of proximal femoral nail (PFN) and proximal femoral nail antirotation (PFNA) for pertrochanteric femoral fracture (PFF) in elderly patients. AIM To evaluate both clinical and radiographic outcomes after fixation with PFN and PFNA in an elderly patient population. METHODS One hundred fifty-eight patients older than 65 years with PFF who underwent fixation with either PFN or PFNA were included. Seventy-three patients underwent fixation with PFN, whereas 85 were fixed with PFNA. The mean follow-up was 2.4 years (range, 1-7 years). Clinical outcome was measured in terms of operation time, postoperative function at each follow-up visit, and mortality within one year. Radiographic evaluation included reduction quality after surgery, Cleveland Index, tip-apex distance (TAD), union rate, time to union, and sliding distance of the screw or blade. Complications including nonunion, screw cutout, infection, osteonecrosis of the femoral head, and implant breakage were also investigated. RESULTS Postoperative function was more satisfactory in patients who underwent PFNA than in those who underwent PFN (P = 0.033). Radiologically, the sliding difference was greater in PFN than in PFNA patients (6.1 and 3.2 mm, respectively, P = 0.036). The rate of screw cutout was higher in the PFN group; eight for PFN (11.0%) and two for PFNA patients (2.4%, P = 0.027). There were no differences between the two groups in terms of operation time, mortality rate at one year after the operation, adequacy of reduction, Cleveland Index, TAD, union rate, time to union, nonunion, infection, osteonecrosis, or implant breakage. CONCLUSION Elderly patients with PFF who underwent PFNA using a helical blade demonstrated better clinical and radiographic outcomes as measured by clinical score and sliding distance compared with patients who underwent PFN.

Nvidia RTX is a proprietary hardware-accelerated ray tracing technology. Since implementation details are unknown, there were many questions in the development community about the hardware implementation: which stages of the ray tracing pipeline are hardware-accelerated and which of them can be efficiently implemented in software. In this paper we present the results of our experiments with RTX aimed at understanding the inner workings of this technology. We tried to address the questions intriguing developers around the world: What kind of acceleration can be obtained in practical applications compared to software implementations and what is the technological basis of this acceleration? How arduous is it to develop a rendering system with support for hardware acceleration, which at the same time can work on a GPU without RTX (using software implementation of ray tracing), or even perform calculations on a CPU? How effective is the software emulation of RTX (available on some of the previous generation Nvidia GPUs) and to what extent is it possible to bring its effectiveness to that of the hardware accelerated one? How hard will it be to create an analog of RTX if one needs to run application on GPUs from other manufacturers?

Listening is a complex process because listeners do not only listen to the words, but they also interpret speakers' utterances. This complexity and difficulty triggers student’s anxiety. Many researches find out that listening anxiety affect students’ performance. Therefore, study on listening anxiety is crucial to be carried out. This study is conducted to find out the factors causing listening anxiety on generation Z students that raised with technology and have more opportunity to listen English from many sources than the previous generation. This is a qualitative study that is conducted in English Department of STKIP MNC by involving 20 participants from Basic Listening class. The finding shows that there are some factors causing students listening anxiety. The factor is categorized in two sources; students and technological factors. The internal factors trigger students listening anxiety are rate of speech, vocabulary and accent, and concentration. On the other hand, technological factor causing listening anxiety comes from the poor quality of audio sounds from speaker used in the class.

The impact of climate change on Sahel precipitation suffers from large uncertainties and is strongly model-dependent. In this study, we analyse sources of inter-model spread in Sahel precipitation change by decomposing precipitation into its dynamic and thermodynamic terms, using a large set of climate model simulations. Results highlight that model uncertainty is mostly related to the response of the atmospheric circulation to climate change (dynamic changes), while thermodynamic changes are less uncertain among climate models. Uncertainties arise mainly because the models simulate different shifts in atmospheric circulation over West Africa in a warmer climate. We linked the changes in atmospheric circulation to the changes in Sea Surface Temperature, emphasising that the Northern hemispheric temperature gradient is primary to explain uncertainties in Sahel precipitation change. Sources of Sahel precipitation uncertainties are shown to be the same in the new generation of climate models (CMIP6) as in the previous generation of models (CMIP5).

Background: One of the most common adverse events during continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) is hypothermia, reported to occur in over 4/10 cases. In turn, hypothermia is known to be associated with higher mortality rates among patients treated in intensive care units (ICU). The present study examined if a novel warming device in the current generation of CRRT systems could lower incidence of hypothermia compared to previous generation technology. Methods: We included ICU patients >18 years, at Skane University Hospital, Lund from November 2006 to August 2019 and treated with CRRT. Temperature measurements were recorded from the CRRT systems and from the patients hourly. Results: In total, 310 patients treated with the older system vs 32 patients treated using the newer CRRT system were included. We found that historic Prismaflex patients spent 11.43% of their time in hypothermia, as compared to the novel Prismax CRRT system, where 10.06% of patient hours were below 36.0°C (Chi-Square P =.0063). The novel blood warmer is associated with less heat loss compared to the older warmer: mean patient temperature was 37°C vs 36.5°C for these two groups and mean set return temperature was 37.9°C vs 40.9°C (both P

WLAN technology has been widely developed for the needs of internet access in people's lives. Several generations of WLAN technology include IEEE 802.11b, IEEE 802.11a, IEEE 802.11g and IEEE 802.11n. At the STAHN Rectorate Building, Gde Pudja Mataram, WLAN technology in its application requires financial consideration because excessive use of Internet Service Provider services results in a waste of operational costs. The application of WLAN is still not optimal, because there are not too many users, but the operational costs of implementing the local wireless network are very large, due to less optimal application of network infrastructure. The recommended WLAN technology is IEEE 802.11n, while the technology is the latest technology that has better quality than the previous generation technology. The research methodology uses the Network Development Life Cycle (NDLC). Of the 6 stages available, only 3 stages are used, namely Analysis, Design and Simulation of Prototyping. The results obtained from this study are models that design a WLAN that suits your needs, and complements the entire Building area. Optimization has succeeded in reducing the need for ISP and client services while still being able to enjoy services as needed and cost optimization can be reduced by around 28%.

The modern era is a time of development of the positivism philosophy. Modern world life is based on the paradigm of positivism thinking. The paradigm of positivism thinking believes that all science is mathematical which is characterized by objective, measurable, scientific, rational and universal thinking patterns. These four ways of thinking have brought modern civilization to the triumph of science. On the other side, a civilization based on the modern paradigm experiences various kinds of humanitarian problems. The paradigm of modern thinking is not suitable when it is associated with social problems including the education. Jurgen habermas, a Frankfurt school figure, offers solutions to overcome social problems that cannot be overcome by modern paradigms. Habermas developed a critical theory that had been put forward by the previous generation of Frankfrut figures. The theory he offered was a critical theory of emancipation and a theory of communicative action. Emancipatory critical theory and communicative action theory are able to answer problems in the world of education that cannot be answered by the positivistic thinking paradigm.

The Thai government has a plan to start the first operation of the Thai High-Speed Rail (THSR) in 2021. However, ensuring the profit of THSR while limiting the project impacts on existing transport options is challenging. In this study, an approach for identifying the optimal travel frequency for impacted transportation services after the THSR operation is implemented. The genetic algorithm (GA) is introduced with specific value functions of various transport options, including rail, bus, and van, to reschedule each travelling option under the intermodal cooperation model. The constraint of GA is that the profit of the individual transport option in the next generation will have to be higher than the total profit of the previous generation. From the case study between Nakhon Ratchasima and Bangkok, the simulation results show that THSR and other transport options have overall gain higher profits after the start of THSR operation. Regarding social welfare theory, the simulation results show that the profit of each transport option is proven to be stable concerning travel schedule frequency after implementation of the THSR system.

Background Eclipse 2L is a new double lumen balloon microcatheter for neurovascular use, with several design features that separate it from previous generation devices. We aimed to report our initial experience of balloon-assisted coiling of intracranial aneurysms using the Eclipse 2L balloon. Materials and methods Retrospective single-center review of patients who underwent balloon-assisted coiling with the Eclipse 2L balloon, for ruptured or unruptured intracranial aneurysms between 1 June 2016 and 31 December 2018. Cases with adjunctive use of stents and recurrences of previously embolized aneurysms were excluded. Patient files were used to extract aneurysm characteristics, complications, immediate and long-term results. Results We identified 120 patients with 126 aneurysms, of which 83 (65.8%) unruptured. Average aneurysm size was 5.9 mm (standard deviation 3.2 mm), with a dome-to neck-ratio of 1.7 (SD 0.6). Most aneurysms (79.3%) were wide necked. Immediate angiographic exclusion (Raymond-Roy grade I–II) was obtained in 95.1% of cases (81.7% grade I and 13.4% grade II). Procedural morbidity was 3.2% with no procedural mortality. Follow-up imaging was available for 115 aneurysms (91.2%). After an average follow-up period of 8.9 months (SD 7.3 months), 96.5% of aneurysms presented class I–II occlusion. Two aneurysms (1.7%) were retreated during follow-up. Conclusion Balloon-assisted coiling using the Eclipse 2L double lumen balloon is feasible for aneurysms in a wide range of locations in the anterior and posterior circulation. The angiographic results and complication rates compare favorably with previously published studies.

To expand the availability of intergeneric allopolyploids between Brassica rapa and Raphanus sativus beyond BB#1, a stable xBrassicoraphanus koranhort (baemoochae) cultivar (2n = 38, aAARR genome), we developed four intergeneric hybrids between different materials from B. rapa and R. sativus. These hybrids produced neither self-pollinated seeds nor embryos in microspore culture. The hybrids, however, did produce seeds (F1F1) via cross-pollination with existing baemoochae and mooyangchae, another xBrassicoraphanus line (2n = 36, rCCRR genome) generated from a cross between R. sativus and B. oleracea at Huazhong Agriculture University, China. The hybrid plants (F1F1) produced more seeds than the previous generation in both self- and cross-pollination and embryos, even in the presence of an induced microspore mutation. The self-sterile, cross-fertile properties of the newly synthesized allopolyploids suggest possible mechanisms for fertility restoration and provide valuable information for the development of intergeneric baemoochae cultivars.

This article analyses discussions in the Netherlands about extending the current euthanasia legislation to include older people who are tired of living and want to end life without being sick or suffering unbearable pain. We look at these discussion from a generational perspective: the present generation of older people has learned from the experiences of the previous generation that life may last longer than they want and it might be challenging to die in a humane way. First, we briefly sketch the processes that led to the present call for euthanasia on the basis of ‘completed life’ and disentangle the meaning of ‘completed life’ in the existing literature. We then present the results of our qualitative research consisting of interviews with nine people who signed a petition in support of ‘completed life’ euthanasia and analyse their arguments and opinions in the context of a historical timeframe and personal biographies. We then elaborate on individual expectations regarding the enactment of ‘completed life’ euthanasia legislation. We analyse the intertwinement of the respondents’ experiences with other people’s end of life struggles and their personal end-of-life expectations from the perspective of being or not being prepared for the trap of living ‘too long’.

The millennial generation is hotly discussed among us. My Generation film tries to tell the story of how life is, how the figure of the millennial generation is actually, by carrying the four main characters Zeke, Suki, Orly and Konji. Because all this time we know that the millennial generation is a technology literate generation. Therefore, this study aims to find out how the millennial generation characters in the film My generation are. This study uses descriptive qualitative research methods, and the analytical technique used in this study is Charles Sanders Pierce's semiotics. The results of the analysis show that the representation of the millennial generation in the film My Generation, is a generation that has different characters from the previous generation, they are more daring to voice what they feel, what they think, dare to try new things and do not hesitate to see things from their point of view.

Signal amplification is critical to achieving sensitive biosensing, but complex strategies often bring problems like system instability, false positive, or narrow target spectrum. Here, a self-extending DNA-mediated isothermal amplification (SEIA) system with simple reaction components is introduced to achieve rapid, robust, and significant signal amplification. In SEIA, based on spontaneous refolding of specific DNA domains and using the previous generation product as a template, a DNA strand can extend continuously in an approximate exponential growth pattern, which was accurately predicted by our formula and well supported by AFM results. Based on a set of proof-of-concept experiments, it was proved that the SEIA system can output different signals and flexibly integrate various functional nucleic acids, which makes it suitable for different scenarios and realizes broad-spectrum target detection. Taking into account the advantages of simplicity, flexibility, and efficiency, the SEIA system as an independent signal amplification module will enrich the toolbox of biosensing design.

In the previous generation, the resources we had for our technology were limited. The development was not enough. There were big dreams to be fulfilled in technology by only imagining our favorite books and watching our favorite sci-fi movies. Through the years, as our resources expanded, so did our technology. Artificial Intelligence technology has developed a lot through the years and is still developing. As our resources grow, we all are surrounded by technology in this age and time. It helps to make our lives a little easier than before, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a technology used to an industrial level to make things easier. Restaurants are commonly visited places by any middle-class man; let it be for lunch or Birthday Party. It is very common to visit a restaurant. There are issues regarding the restaurants’ hygiene, from the kitchen countertop to the waiter's hygiene serving you food. During the period of normalizing going out in the Covid-19 pandemic, there were many issues regarding this? In this paper, the core point is to avoid physical contact and enhance restaurants’ future with AI and its upcoming potential to deliver a new and safer experience to the customer. This will help prevent contact with the waiter, create a unique customer experience, and create a hygiene environment while implementing newer things.

Today, more than ever before, we must all be able to think creatively, manage change, and solve complex, open-ended problems. Education today is different in its structure and practice than it was in any previous generation, not just because of the impact of technology and the Internet, but also because, across the lifespan, every person studies, works, and plays in a global community that was previously unknown to most generations. Although organizations worldwide recognize that their success both now and in the future depends on a workforce capable of effective thinking, problem solving, and innovation, educational practice still lags behind our knowledge in these areas. Educating for Creativity and Innovation is a powerful resource to close the gap between research and practice and to promote understanding and effective practice relating to creativity and innovation. In short, this is a book whose time is now!

Individual agroecological farms can act as lighthouses to amplify the uptake of agroecological principles and practices by other farmers. Amplification is critical for the upscaling of agroecological production and socio-political projects emphasizing farmer sovereignty and solidarity. However, territories are contested spaces with historical, social, cultural, and economic contexts that can present challenges to the effectiveness of farmer lighthouses in catalyzing localized agrarian change. We explore these amplification dynamics through fieldwork in a particular region of Japan employing interviews and data derived from an assessment of nine farms using ten amplification indicators. The indicators include social organization, participation in networks, community leadership, and degrees of dependency on policies or markets among others, as well as degree of adoption of on-farm agroecological practices, all of which capture farmer lighthouses' potential to amplify territorial upscaling. At the same time, we trace the historical development of a previous generation of Japanese farmer lighthouses practicing organic agriculture in alignment with agroecological principles that experienced, to varying degrees, push-back, co-option, and successful territorialization in rural communities. We find that many of the same social and cultural territorial dynamics are still influential today and affecting the amplifying effect of agroecological farmer lighthouses, but also find examples of new clustering around lighthouses that take advantage of both the historical vestiges of the previous generation's efforts as well as contemporary shifts in practice and agrarian orientation. This research calls for a detailed dissection of the dynamic and contrasting processes of agroecological territorialization and the ways in which diverse contexts shape agroecological upscaling.

As a poem centered on war, the Iliad is not considered to be endowed with the element of the fantastic as is the Odyssey. There are, however, mentions or allusions to some creatures fought by heroes of previous generation, like Heracles and Bellerophon, along with some brief mentions to other fantastic creatures, like the Gorgon, the centaurs, Briareus and Typhon. This paper aims to locate those brief presences in the broader narrative frame of the Iliad.

This research aims to explore the signs that represent the millennial generation cross culture in the film My Generation (2017) by Upi Avianto. This film, shows the dynamics of life for generations of millennials in the era of technological development. Unlike teen films in general, this film dares to portray the reality of a teenager's life from the results of two years of director research through social media. So that the film portrays the cross-culture of the millennial generation with what is positive and negative. With Roland Barthes's semiotic analysis method and qualitative descriptive approach and constructivist paradigm. The theory used by researchers is the Representation theory of Stuart Hall. From this research shows the millennial cross culture is represented by various scenes that describe habits and characters that are different from the previous generation. Millennial generation's cross culture is shown in differences in social norms which do not care about politeness values, millennial generation stereotypes, differences in life perspectives that tend to be free or liberal, broader, open and courageous to show differences, and a strong and optimistic mindset.

The topic of this paper revolves around the links that unite the motif of the Waste Land with the wound of the Fisher King in the Conte du Graal. These links are based, on the one hand, on ancestral beliefs that connect the land’s fecundity with the goodness of the king, while his faults are punished with its sterility, and on the other, with Augustinism. The ills of the Grail’s family constitute a deserved castigation derived from a chain of sins, originating in the previous generation with the commission of a sin of origin. The punishment embraces all the members of the family, and, in the very same way that Original sin is the cause of both mortality and the earth’s aridity, its punishment presupposes the king’s impotence and the kingdom’s barrenness, Perceval’s matricide, and his silence in front of the Grail. The awaited irruption of Perceval in the Fisher King’s domain signified for the Grail’s family the same as that of redemption for mankind. Perceval thus redeems his lineage, and with it, the earth, in the line of the old belief that linked the king’s sins with the earth’s sterility, in conformity with the pattern of the Fall, Punishment and Redemption.

Metallurgy - Abstract
Vehicle mass reduction in the automotive industry has become an industry-wide objective. Increasing fuel efficiency and greenhouse gas emission targets for engine-powered vehicles, and ambitions for extended range electric vehicles have motivated these reductions in vehicle mass. Mass reduction opportunities in structural automotive applications are increasingly realized through lightweight alloy castings, such as magnesium, primarily due to the ease of component substitution. The traditional benefits of magnesium die-castings including lightweighting and associated compounded mass savings, excellent strength-to-weight ratio, part consolidation, near net-shape forming, dimensional repeatability, and integration of additional components can be realized in closure applications. One recent example is the application of a magnesium die-casting for the structural inner of the liftgate in the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, replacing nine parts in the previous generation and resulting in a liftgate assembly weight reduction of nearly 50%. The work presented here reviews past and current developments of magnesium die-castings in closure applications and discusses the benefits and challenges of magnesium alloys for these applications, including casting design, corrosion and fastening strategies, and the manufacturing design and assembly methodologies. This paper considers intra-platform technologies that allow a consumer’s content and preferences to carryover across platform generations. In many platform industries, content consumed on a platform’s previous generation can be used on the platform’s new generation. Naturally, a consumer with more content incurs a greater cost to switch platforms. Instead of discounting the first-period consumer price (the standard result), I find that a platform subsidizes content procurement. This still provides a bargain to first-period consumers in the form of more content, but it also generates a more extensive second-period markup to consumers. To further highlight the usefulness of the model, data from the video game market is used to provide additional insights on consumer primitives and to explain how Sony generated endogenous switching costs which allowed them to dominate the video game market in the early 2000s.

EnglishIn Peru, the ratification of “The Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW)” that takes place in the beginnings of the 80’s is part of a transition process not only in the political front, but also between two generations of women activists. One of which was represented by a group of professionals called to take an active role in the political front, women such as former deputy and first PUCP woman lawyer, Matilde Perez Palacio as well as other founders of NGO’s focused on child protection and abandoned mothers, such as Maria Vita de Alvarez. Prestigious group of professionals linked to “Consejo Nacional de Mujeres”, founded in 1923, such as Sara Perez Palacio, or Olga Paredes Lanas de De Olarte, just to name a few. This is the generation of women called to give a positive outlook towards the ratification of CEDAW -among which we find an important contingent of PUCP women lawyers, which they all do from their institutions by voicing the criticism about the difficult situation in which women lived then. Conversely, the next generation of women activists who represent the second wave of the Peruvian feminist movement are the ones called, years later, to claim the CEDAW. Moreover, this is the generation called to take a stand and assume now the political and public responsibility, just as the previous generation did.

Opened in 1904, the Carnegie public library in Danville, Illinois was much praised as a civic institution, not only for the services it provided but also for its impressive architectural presence. Responding negatively to a request made in 1910 by the Danville Library Board for additional funding to enlarge their library, Carnegie’s private secretary and overseer of building applications and plans, James Bertram, was retrospectively critical of what he viewed as the space-wastefulness of the design of the 1904 building. Using this criticism as a sounding board, as well as by drawing on ideas about library architecture debated by librarians over the previous generation, an attempt is made to highlight the progressive elements of the Danville design; thereby suggesting the possibility of a wider rehabilitation of the reputation of the Carnegie library building type, not least in terms of libraries that were designed before the more generic guidance introduced by Carnegie in 1908 and the 1911 'Notes on Library Bilding' [sic].
