Introduction: Cerebral Palsy as a health condition associated with disability in childhood requires comprehensive care and involves various actors, thus, rehabilitation is configured as a key health process in which knowledge and practices converge in daily life whose experience makes sense from the peculiarities. The objective was to analyze the comprehensions of the rehabilitation process in cerebral palsy from the perspectives of a group of health professionals, caregivers and people with cerebral palsy. Material and method: qualitative study, socio-constructionist design, focus groups were used. The sample was purposeful of homogeneous cases, the theoretical saturation of the data was used as a criterion for collecting information. The qualitative content analysis was streamlined through a categorization and coding process. Results: 3 people with cerebral palsy, 4 caregivers and 9 health professionals participated, relating their comprehensions about the phenomenon; the emerging categories were cerebral palsy as «Condition of life», functioning and disability from «Processes, tools and autonomy»; as well as contextual factors from «Barriers» and «Opportunities». Conclusions: although the comprehensions of the process are diverse and depend on life experiences, there are meeting points that configure the importance that both functionality and social inclusion acquire. Identify the effectiveness and gaps of mobile simulation as an educational strategy for improving health professionals. Scoping review carried out in eight databases and gray literature. The articles were selected without time frame and languages. They were extracted and summarized by two independent researchers at Mendley. PRISMA-ScR was used, guided by the question: How can mobile simulation effectively contribute to the improvement of health professionals? What are the gaps in the literature? Seven articles were selected, with a prevalence of studies in Canada and carried out in 2021, with level evidence IV. Mobile simulation contributed significantly improvement, developing effective clinical competences with less costs and better time management. However, requires trained and available instructors, in addition to investment to adapt the mobile simulation unit. Mobile simulation has better cost-benefit and less financial impact when compared to in-person simulation, highlighting the importance of the strategy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: Background: Stigma is a disqualifying act where negative attitudes and labels towards an individual generate feelings of shame, guilt, and social exclusion. In mental health, there are three basic types of stigma: social stigma, self-stigma, and help-seeking stigma. In this review, we present the literature on self-stigma and help-seeking stigma in health personnel; placing special emphasis on existing interventions and projects to reduce stigma. Methodology: Narrative review carried out in scientific databases between January 2005 and February 2022, including articles in English and Spanish. Results: Only 38% of patients with mental health conditions seek professional care, with self-stigma and help-seeking stigma being important contributors to this phenomenon. These data sets include both health professions students and health professionals. Different interventions have been published in the last 10 years mainly based on education and contact with this population group. The results have shown small benefits in reducing stigma, but it is unclear if this lasts over time. Discussion: Health professionals, including medical students, represent a population vulnerable to mental health conditions; which could be explained by their high academic, healthcare, and social burden. The interventions described so far manage to reduce certain types of stigma in mental health. Still, in the future, more focused approaches are needed to adapt the medical curriculum on this topic. In addition, the development of more standardized instruments that will permit objective measurement of the impact of these interventions is required.

HARM (Ethics) , *WORLD health , *COVID-19 pandemic , *MEDICAL personnel , *STRUCTURAL equation modeling - Abstract
Background: When exposed to events that transgress one's moral beliefs, a plethora of negative consequences may follow, which are captured by the concept of moral injury (MI). Despite its relevance to experiences of healthcare workers during a global health emergency, there is lack of validated MI instruments adapted to the healthcare setting. Objective: The present study aims to provide a validation of the Italian version of the Moral Injury Events Scale (MIES) adjusted to the healthcare setting by assessing its factor structure, internal consistency and construct validity. Methods: A sample of 794 healthcare workers (46% nurses, 51% female) engaged in hospital facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic in Italy completed measures of MI, PTSD, anxiety, depression, burnout, meaning in life and positive affect. Results: Using an exploratory structural equation modelling (ESEM) we assessed the scale factor structure for the entire sample and separately for nurse professional and female healthcare worker groups. Findings support a three-factor solution: Factor 1 'perceived transgressions by others'; Factor 2 'perceived transgressions by self'; and Factor 3 'perceived betrayals by others'. Findings also indicate some level of convergence with measures of PTSD, anxiety, depression and burnout. Conclusion: Results suggest that the MIES may be useful in capturing unique experiences of moral injury amongst healthcare workers engaged in a global health emergency. The low range correlations with measures of psychological distress might potentially indicate that MI, which captures cognitive value judgements rather than manifest symptomatology, may uniquely explain a certain amount of variance. Implications for the development of new empirically derived and theoretical guided tools are discussed, highlighting the need for future research to examine the role of individualising and social binding moral principles in gaining a more nuanced understanding of moral injury experiences amongst healthcare professionals across different socio-cultural settings. The Italian validation of the MIES adapted to the healthcare setting yielded a three-factor structure: (a) 'perceived transgressions by self'; (b) 'perceived transgressions by others'; (c) 'perceived betrayals by others'. Findings suggest that the MIES may be useful in capturing unique experiences of moral injury amongst healthcare workers engaged in a global health emergency. Future research should consider the role of individualising and social binding moral principles in shaping moral injury experiences among healthcare professionals across different socio-cultural settings. MEDICAL personnel , *HEALTH behavior , *HEALTH care teams , *HEALTH expectancy , *AT-risk behavior - Abstract
Objective. Analytically describe the effect depression, anxiety, and risk behaviors have on the health team. In these psychosocial factors, recognizing that health personnel suffers from depression is vital to excellent or inadequate health care for the general population; if it is not detected, it cannot be treated. The condition must not evolve since it can be associated with attempts or suicide; it is common in inmates, residents, and attending physicians due to the stress they experience. Anxiety is frequent because there is a responsibility to preserve life in the health team, then frustration, suffering, helplessness, fear, apprehension, and worry arise. Regarding risk behaviors, high exposure to risk factors such as alcohol consumption, tobacco, and a sedentary lifestyle dramatically affects general health and life expectancy for many years in health personnel. We consider it necessary to carry out more systematic studies on psychosocial factors in health professionals, where it is imperative to have a broader vision of the mental health situation that they are going through and that allows the implementation of strategies that strengthen working conditions, preventive medicine, in addition to improving and guaranteeing a better quality of care for patients. Cannabis sativa has been the subject of several worldwide discussions regarding its legalization and its therapeutic use. The medicinal use of this plant is possible because it has an extensive medicinal potential that occurs as a result of the large number of chemical substances present in it, with resistance from health professionals prescribing its derivatives. Thus, the present study sought to analyze the knowledge of health professionals, linked to Psychosocial Care Centers, about the use of Cannabis. This is a descriptive and cross-sectional study, through data collection through an electronic questionnaire divided into two parts. The first addressed the sociodemographic aspects of the professionals and the second contained 29 statements with answers in the Likert scale format, to identify the level of technical knowledge and opinion of health professionals about Cannabis and the use of the drug. 21 professionals participated in the study, where it was noticed that some sociodemographic characteristics interfered in their opinions in relation to some statements. Professionals who have used illicit drugs, tobacco and non-religious people have more "liberal" and favorable opinions regarding the use of Cannabis, with the knowledge of health professionals about the use of Cannabis influenced by their sociodemographic characteristics, i.e., of personal variables. Therefore, public health measures must be implemented in order to disseminate scientific information to promote a clear distinction between the therapeutic use of cannabis-based products for some diseases and the non-medical use of Cannabis. Different studies agree that health professionals are exposed to high wear and tear at work, often leading to burnout syndrome. The impact of certain psychological resources could be associated with a decrease in burnout indicators. In this context, the objective of the study has been to specifically evaluate the role of Emotional Intelligence in Burnout Syndrome. Method: an intentional sample of 50 resident physicians of a private health institution, in the province of Entre Ríos, Argentina, was selected. With prior informed consent, the Spanish version of the Trait-Meta Mood Scale (TMMS -24) emotional intelligence scales, studied in Argentina, and the version adapted to Spanish of the Burnout Inventory were administered. Multiple regression analyzes were performed to assess the predictive role of Emotional Intelligence on burnout. The results showed that the dimensions of Emotional Intelligence that were predictors of burnout were: emotional attention and, inversely, the emotional repair dimension. Specifically, emotional attention predicted responses of greater depersonalization, and emotional repair, responses of less depersonalization. In addition, it was observed that, as emotional clarity and emotional repair increase, responses of low personal fulfillment decrease. Conclusions: The results obtained highlight the importance of emotional intelligence as a resource that could mitigate, in general, the symptoms of burnout in health personnel. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article analyzes the influence of burnout syndrome on healthcare professionals’ organizational commitment. The extant literature debates the conceptual independence of burnout and organizational commitment. This study contributes to the debate by empirically validating the independence of the two constructs and analyzing the relationship between burnout and three different dimensions of organizational commitment. The analyzed population was formed by doctors and nurses working directly with patients and their families from organizations located in Montes Claros, in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. Data was collected using an adapted Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) scale (Maslach & Jackson, 1987) and the organizational commitment scale (Meyer et al., 1993), and analyzed using variance-based structural equation modeling. The results suggest that burnout and organizational commitment are independent constructs. Also, it was observed that burnout syndrome negatively affects the employee’s affective and calculative commitment to the organization, whereas there was no evidence of a negative relationship between burnout and normative commitment. Implications for theory development and organizational practice are discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The aim was to understand how the workers of a public hospital perceive the quality of life at work (QLW). The research used Walton's model (1973) to measure the QLW of 225 workers in a hospital in the Midwestern Region of Brazil. The results show that, in only three of Walton's eight criteria, the workers' satisfaction is superior to dissatisfaction. The highest percentages of dissatisfaction concern participation in results, workload, fatigue caused by work, incentives offered for qualification, respect for workers' rights, influence of work on the possibility of personal leisure, and human resources policy. On the other hand, the highest percentages of satisfaction are related to the importance of the activity performed, the work responsibility received, the relationship with the boss and colleagues, and pride in the work performed. The research contributed to highlight critical points of the QWL and showed elements that need organizational attention. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Drug use is one of the factors related to high-risk pregnancy. The health professional beliefs and attitudes regarding this issue constitute possible difficulties in the health care. The present study sought to verify the health professional attitudes towards pregnant women who use drugs. A literature review for studies published between 2000 and June 2022 was carried out in the SciELO, LILACS, MEDLINE/PubMed, Scopus, and PsycInfo databases. In the end, 27 articles were analyzed, all of them written in English. Negative attitudes were identified in 33.3% of the articles, and positive attitudes in 44.5%; ambivalent attitudes were also found in 22.2% of the studies. Additionally, some studies pointed out barriers to interventions. The negative and moralizing attitudes denote an individualizing nature. Concerning the positive attitudes, they can play a fundamental role on professional performance and, consequently, on the maternal and fetal health. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Health care is important for the transitions of people with trans life experiences and to strengthen the processes of health and disease. Health professionals are educating and accompanying agents; however, the literature frequently reports that there are barriers perceived by professionals regarding their competencies to accompany such processes, in addition to others related to social representations regarding trans identities, the limited scientific evidence regarding the processes of gender reaffirmation and representing the communities themselves according to their historical and sociocultural characteristics. The aim of this study was to analyze the characteristics of scientific articles published during 15 years regarding health care for trans persons in Latin America and the Caribbean. A systematized review of articles published in four databases between 2005 and 2020 was carried out. 20 studies were analyzed in the research. Most of them report the perceptions of trans communities and, less frequently, the experiences of health professionals on health care. The results allow the identification of barriers that influence the processes of care and the challenges to improve it. The deficient and insufficient training of professionals on trans identities and differential and affirmative gender approaches stand out, as well as the need to strengthen comprehensive approaches among the academic and health communities and the generation of trans affirmative public policies. On the other hand, the results evidence a construction of science with respect to gender that is cisnormative and invisibilizes gender diversities. In addition, many of the studies establish vertical relationships between participants, including researchers, which generates research dynamics in which trans communities are considered more as informants and less as expert peers, community researchers or participants in a collaborative and co-creative research process. These findings support the need and renew the urgency to generate processes of knowledge construction with and for trans communities that allow nurturing educational, social, public policy and health spaces that represent their needs for gender transitions, in case the person considers so, and that welcome in an integral and humanized way the processes of health and disease. Research on health and health care in trans communities both in Colombia and in the rest of Latin America and the Caribbean does not show the implementation of health policies focused on the community and that respond to their health needs. Health professionals, around the world, should accompany from care actions focused on the processes of self-identification and self-determination of gender. Being recognized and made visible based on gender identities and expressions has a positive impact on the mental health of trans people and their wellbeing. In professional practice, it is important and essential to overcome the barriers of social inequality, promoting a critical social vision and understanding of the reality of this population. It is necessary to expand research from gender diversities and separate from the LGBTIQ+ umbrella given the complex social, cultural, biological, and psychological diversities faced by each community. As for health professionals, it is necessary to deepen the measurement and understanding of attitudes, knowledge, beliefs, skills and gaps identified by all staff, from doctors and nurses to institution managers. This in order to articulate and triangulate information and develop intervention programs aimed at comprehensive and accessible care, especially for their reports about the little information on sexual and gender diversity received during their professional training process and organizational culture. Finally, each country should develop clinical guidelines based on local, national, and international evidence that responds to the psychological and sociocultural needs and experiences of trans communities that include the process of gender transitions from hormone therapy, affirmative surgeries and other non-binary processes of gender expressions, family, psychosocial support, and community accompaniment. Background: Stressful events during a pandemic are a major cause of serious health problems, such as burnout, depression and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) among health care workers (HCWs). During three years, HCWs, on the frontline to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, have been at an increased risk of high levels of stress, anxiety, depression, burnout and PTSD. Regarding potential psychological interventions, Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured, strongly recommended therapy based on its well-known efficacy in reducing PTSD symptoms and anxiety. Objectives: This study, designed as a trial within a cohort (TwiC), aims to 1) estimate the prevalence of depression, burnout and PTSD in a sample of HCWs after experiencing the COVID-19 emergency (cohort part) and 2) assess the efficacy and acceptability of 'EMDR + usual care' for HCWs from the cohort who report significant psychological symptoms (trial part). Methods: The study, designed as a TwiC, consists of a prospective cohort study (n = 3000) with an embedded, pragmatic, randomized open-label superiority trial with two groups (n = 900). Participants included in the trial part are HCWs recruited for the cohort with significant symptoms on at least one psychological dimension (depression, burnout, PTSD) at baseline, 3 months or 6 months, determined by using the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), Professional Quality of Life (ProQOL) scale, and PTSD Checklist for the DSM-5 (PCL-5). The intervention consists of 12 separate EMDR sessions with a certified therapist. The control group receives usual care. The trial has three primary outcomes: changes in depression, burnout and PTSD scores from randomization to 6 months. All participants are followed up for 12 months. Conclusions: This study provides empirical evidence about the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the mental health burden it places on HCWs and assesses the effectiveness of EMDR as a psychological intervention. Trial registration NCT04570202 Health care workers are at increased risk of stress, anxiety, depression, burnout and PTSD following the COVID-19 pandemic. In this study, the effectiveness of EMDR in reducing depression, burnout and PTSD in health care workers exposed to COVID-19 is investigated. In this study, an original 'trial within a cohort' (TwiC) design that consists of a cohort study with an embedded pragmatic randomized trial is used. The study is fully web-based, including online screening, consent and assessments. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: high blood pressure is a health problem in the Mexican population, there are social determinants that condition its development, so it is important that the doctor controls high blood pressure based on an adequate assessment, examination and clinical history; as well as proper use and management of clinical practice guidelines. Objective: to know in greater detail the characteristics of health professionals who could influence the control of hypertension. Material and methods: a descriptive study was carried out, the study population was the doctors of a health center in Mexico City, a 26-item questionnaire with closed and open questions was applied, through an in-depth interview directly. divided into 4 sections: i) identification and demographic factors; ii) academic training; iii) information sources and iv) prescription criteria. Results: with regard to hypertension, the age of the doctors appears to be a determining factor in its control: the degree of control can vary up to almost three times more depending on the age of these doctors, the influence of the number of patients seen would be less. However, deficiencies associated with age, such as lack of updating, could be compensated with specific training interventions by health administrations; alternatively, or complementary, clinical sessions and case discussion among colleagues could play a crucial role in this regard. Conclusions: the age of the doctors appears as a determinant in the control of arterial hypertension. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract

- Abstract
We have focused on the analyses of the most negative memories of a particular group of doctors related to their work experience. After interviewing 24 professionals of different specialties, their narratives were analyzed using the criteria of specificity, agency, and theme of the memory. Most memories were considered specific as they were vividly remembered with attention to detail. Men have more narratives linked to agency, while the majority of women develop narratives linked to communion. Furthermore, five clearly differentiated topics were observed regarding the professional’s degree of experience. A qualitative analysis of the memories of these professionals, as well as a description of the appropriation process of the discursive features is presented. The dimensions of analysis of the responses included in the Dataset are described in the Coding Manual.

- Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the patient safety culture from the perspective of professionals who work in Intensive Care Units. Method: This is a descriptive, exploratory, cross-sectional study of a quantitative character. The sample consisted of 72 professionals, 31 nurses, 21 nursing technicians, 12 (physiotherapists, speech therapists, occupational therapists), 5 doctors, 2 psychologists, 1 nursing assistant who work in intensive care units in the southwest and northwest regions of Paraná and west of Santa Catarina. The data collection carried out between August and October 2020, via online electronic form, through the Google platform, using the questionnaire adapted to Research on Patient Safety in Hospitals. The data were tabulated in the Excel program and, subsequently, a descriptive analysis of the data was performed by using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences software (SPSS 25.0). Results: Only 2 categories achieved more than 75% positive responses in relation to the unit's safety culture, namely: when there is a lot of work to be done, professionals work as a team to complete it and they are actively doing things to improve the patient's safety. Conclusion: From the perspective of professionals, patient safety is not effective yet, as in some aspects it needs to be improved as well as in other criteria, it is shown to be weakened.
