The article discusses the novels, Marie-Célie Agnant's "Un alligator nommé Rosa" and Maïssa Bey's "Entendez-vous dans les montagnes..." to address the complex relationship between history, memory, and voice in the context of the acts of violence which occurred during the Jean-Claude Duvalier dictatorship in Haiti and during the Algerian war of independence.

The article presents an analysis on the impact of increasing immigrants in the development of Quebec's own cultural identity. It is agrued that Quebec's identity was developed with internal influences. Immigration to Quebec tended to coincide with economic, political and social upheavals in countries of origin, which resulted to the industrialization of the province.
