The sound of the pig is one of its important signs, which can reflect various states such as hunger, pain or emotional state, and directly indicates the growth and health status of the pig. Existing speech recognition methods usually start with spectral features. The use of spectrograms to achieve classification of different speech sounds, while working well, may not be the best approach for solving such tasks with single-dimensional feature input. Based on the above assumptions, in order to more accurately grasp the situation of pigs and take timely measures to ensure the health status of pigs, this paper proposes a pig sound classification method based on the dual role of signal spectrum and speech. Spectrograms can visualize information about the characteristics of the sound under different time periods. The audio data are introduced, and the spectrogram features of the model input as well as the audio time-domain features are complemented with each other and passed into a pre-designed parallel network structure. The network model with the best results and the classifier were selected for combination. An accuracy of 93.39% was achieved on the pig speech classification task, while the AUC also reached 0.99163, demonstrating the superiority of the method. This study contributes to the direction of computer vision and acoustics by recognizing the sound of pigs. In addition, a total of 4,000 pig sound datasets in four categories are established in this paper to provide a research basis for later research scholars.

Credit scoring is a very critical task for banks and other financial institutions, and it has become an important evaluation metric to distinguish potential defaulting users. In this paper, we propose a credit score prediction method based on feature transformation and ensemble model, which is essentially a cascade approach. The feature transformation process consisting of boosting trees (BT) and auto-encoders (AE) is employed to replace manual feature engineering and to solve the data imbalance problem. For the classification process, this paper designs a heterogeneous ensemble model by weighting the factorization machine (FM) and deep neural networks (DNN), which can efficiently extract low-order intersections and high-order intersections. Comprehensive experiments were conducted on two standard datasets and the results demonstrate that the proposed approach outperforms existing credit scoring models in accuracy.

Introduction: Zanthoxylum bungeanum Maxim is an economically significant crop in Asia, but large-scale cultivation is often threatened by frequent diseases, leading to significant yield declines. Deep learning-based methods for crop disease recognition have emerged as a vital research area in agriculture. Methods: This paper presents a novel model, LT-DeepLab, for the semantic segmentation of leaf spot (folium macula), rust, frost damage (gelu damnum), and diseased leaves and trunks in complex field environments. The proposed model enhances DeepLabV3+ with an innovative Fission Depth Separable with CRCC Atrous Spatial Pyramid Pooling module, which reduces the structural parameters of Atrous Spatial Pyramid Pooling module and improves cross-scale extraction capability. Incorporating Criss-Cross Attention with the Convolutional Block Attention Module provides a complementary boost to channel feature extraction. Additionally, deformable convolution enhances low-dimensional features, and a Fully Convolutional Network auxiliary header is integrated to optimize the network and enhance model accuracy without increasing parameter count. Results: LT-DeepLab improves the mean Intersection over Union (mIoU) by 3.59%, the mean Pixel Accuracy (mPA) by 2.16%, and the Overall Accuracy (OA) by 0.94% compared to the baseline DeepLabV3+. It also reduces computational demands by 11.11% and decreases the parameter count by 16.82%. Discussion: These results indicate that LT-DeepLab demonstrates excellent disease segmentation capabilities in complex field environments while maintaining high computational efficiency, offering a promising solution for improving crop disease management efficiency. Lemon, as an important cash crop with rich nutritional value, holds significant cultivation importance and market demand worldwide. However, lemon diseases seriously impact the quality and yield of lemons, necessitating their early detection for effective control. This paper addresses this need by collecting a dataset of lemon diseases, consisting of 726 images captured under varying light levels, growth stages, shooting distances and disease conditions. Through cropping high-resolution images, the dataset is expanded to 2022 images, comprising 4441 healthy lemons and 718 diseased lemons, with approximately 1–6 targets per image. Then, we propose a novel model lemon surface disease YOLO (LSD-YOLO), which integrates Switchable Atrous Convolution (SAConv) and Convolutional Block Attention Module (CBAM), along with the design of C2f-SAC and the addition of a small-target detection layer to enhance the extraction of key features and the fusion of features at different scales. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed LSD-YOLO achieves an accuracy of 90.62% on the collected datasets, with mAP@50–95 reaching 80.84%. Compared with the original YOLOv8n model, both mAP@50 and mAP@50–95 metrics are enhanced. Therefore, the LSD-YOLO model proposed in this study provides a more accurate recognition of healthy and diseased lemons, contributing effectively to solving the lemon disease detection problem. Citrus pests pose a major threat to both citrus yield and fruit quality. The early prevention of pests is essential for sustainable citrus cultivation, cost savings, and the reduction of environmental pollution. Despite the increasing application of deep learning techniques in agriculture, the performance of existing models for small target detection of citrus pests is limited, mainly in terms of information bottlenecks that occur during the transfer of information. This hinders its effectiveness in fully automating the detection of citrus pests. In this study, a new approach was introduced to overcome these limitations. Firstly, a comprehensive large-scale dataset named IP-CitrusPests13 was developed, encompassing 13 distinct citrus pest categories. This dataset was amalgamated from IP102 and web crawlers, serving as a fundamental resource for precision-oriented pest detection tasks in citrus farming. Web crawlers can supplement information on various forms of pests and changes in pest size. Using this comprehensive dataset, we employed the SPD Module in the backbone network to preserve fine-grained information and prevent the model from losing important information as the depth increased. In addition, we introduced the AFFD Head detection module into the YOLOv8 architecture, which has two important functions that effectively integrate shallow and deep information to improve the learning ability of the model. Optimizing the bounding box loss function to WIoU v3 (Wise-IoU v3), which focuses on medium-quality anchor frames, sped up the convergence of the network. Experimental evaluation on a test set showed that the proposed SAW-YOLO (SPD Module, AFFD, WIoU v3) model achieved an average accuracy of 90.3%, which is 3.3% higher than the benchmark YOLOv8n model. Without any significant enlargement in the model size, state-of-the-art (SOTA) performance can be achieved in small target detection. To validate the robustness of the model against pests of various sizes, the SAW-YOLO model showed improved detection performance on all three scales of pests, significantly reducing the rate of missed detections. Our experimental results show that the SAW-YOLO model performs well in the detection of multiple pest classes in citrus orchards, helping to advance smart planting practices in the citrus industry. Estimating and monitoring chlorophyll content is a critical step in crop spectral image analysis. The quick, non-destructive assessment of chlorophyll content in rice leaves can optimize nitrogen fertilization, benefit the environment and economy, and improve rice production management and quality. In this research, spectral analysis of rice leaves is performed using hyperspectral and fluorescence spectroscopy for the detection of chlorophyll content in rice leaves. This study generated ninety experimental spectral datasets by collecting rice leaf samples from a farm in Sichuan Province, China. By implementing a feature extraction algorithm, this study compresses redundant spectral bands and subsequently constructs machine learning models to reveal latent correlations among the extracted features. The prediction capabilities of six feature extraction methods and four machine learning algorithms in two types of spectral data are examined, and an accurate method of predicting chlorophyll concentration in rice leaves was devised. The IVSO-IVISSA (Iteratively Variable Subset Optimization–Interval Variable Iterative Space Shrinkage Approach) quadratic feature combination approach, based on fluorescence spectrum data, has the best prediction performance among the CNN+LSTM (Convolutional Neural Network Long Short-Term Memory) algorithms, with corresponding RMSE-Train (Root Mean Squared Error), RMSE-Test, and RPD (Ratio of standard deviation of the validation set to standard error of prediction) indexes of 0.26, 0.29, and 2.64, respectively. We demonstrated in this study that hyperspectral and fluorescence spectroscopy, when analyzed with feature extraction and machine learning methods, provide a new avenue for rapid and non-destructive crop health monitoring, which is critical to the advancement of smart and precision agriculture.
