13. Perceived perception and preparedness of IFRS adoption among accounting professionals

Abstract

International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) establishes international standards which is relevant for the organisation to present effective financial reporting as per international standards. A uniform set of international norms would make organisations to adopt one reporting language. It would also offer creditors and auditors a holistic view of finance. The research undertaken, studies the level of preparation of the accounting professionals to recognise and view result-based IFRS training in India. This research adopted the method of survey research to gather stakeholder opinion, particularly the professional accountant. The exploratory research sought to investigate how attitude towards IFRS change depending on the personal attributes of CPAs (LeJeune, 2013). The present study helps overcome a gap in the literature by providing respondent results which are more likely to have favourable attitude towards IFRS training based on their demographic characteristics.

28. A sustainable banking services analysis and its effect on customer satisfaction.

Abstract

The banking system has evolved with time. Earlier, the banks maintained the storage and counting of coins, but the storage was not safe. Then started the concept of lending with interest. The banking system has completely revolutionised the system, and made it easier to transact online. In this study, the main aim is to understand the banking services and how it impacts the level of satisfaction. To conduct the study, a questionnaire was circulated, containing two sections. The first section contains a set of 16 questions containing demographic- and services-related question. Section 2 contains 24 questions, showing a Likert scale to measure the level of satisfaction of the customers. One hundred ten customers of State Bank of India, SBI Branch Gurgaon and Haryana responded to the questionnaire. Different tools such as factor analysis and reliability tests were conducted to find out the relationship between customer behaviour and banking services. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

In cells, dedicated AAA+ ATPases deposit hexameric, ring-shaped helicases onto DNA to initiate chromosomal replication. To better understand the mechanisms by which helicase loading can occur, we used cryo-EM to determine sub-4-Å-resolution structures of the E. coli DnaB⋅DnaC helicase⋅loader complex with nucleotide in pre- and post-DNA engagement states. In the absence of DNA, six DnaC protomers latch onto and crack open a DnaB hexamer using an extended N-terminal domain, stabilizing this conformation through nucleotide-dependent ATPase interactions. Upon binding DNA, DnaC hydrolyzes ATP, allowing DnaB to isomerize into a topologically closed, pre-translocation state competent to bind primase. Our data show how DnaC opens the DnaB ring and represses the helicase prior to DNA binding and how DnaC ATPase activity is reciprocally regulated by DnaB and DNA. Comparative analyses reveal how the helicase loading mechanism of DnaC parallels and diverges from homologous AAA+ systems involved in DNA replication and transposition.

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to explore the perception of Indian college students in context of the reasons for the choice of being an entrepreneur and the deterrents faced by them in achieving their entrepreneurial aspirations. The study aimed at understanding the preparedness of higher education institutions in the area of Delhi and NCR, India in fostering entrepreneurship education. The purpose of the paper was also to suggest suitable measures in improvising the education system to foster entrepreneurship education. The study is an exploratory study. Semi structured interviews were conducted and the data was transcribed, coded and the emerging themes are discussed in the paper. The sample comprised of 50 national and international undergraduate students from three public and one private university in Delhi & NCR. Out of 50, 39 were Indian while 11 were International Students. The interviews were tape-recorded, coded and the emerging themes are discussed. Results indicated the lack of preparedness by Higher Education Institutions in addressing the needs of both National as well as International students studying in both Public and Private Universities in India. 49. Predicting the Symmetric and Asymmetric Volatility of Energy Market: Evidence from COVID Outbreak in India and USA

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic had a tremendous impact on the energy sector because of demand factor. Volatility has emerged as a major concern in the energy industry and COVID-19 has cast a dark shadow over this characteristic. We predict the symmetrical and asymmetric volatility of energy market in India and USA during COVID-19 outbreak tenure. The energy market is proxied by crude oil and natural gas of these two countries. For an empirical estimation, standard generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedasticity (s-GARCH) and exponential GARCH (e-GARCH) are employed based on daily observations spanning from March 25, 2020 to January 31, 2022. The result reveals that new information is captured and there is volatility persistence in both Indian and US energy markets. The conditional volatility decays over the time of these markets since it is backed by mean reversion and Indian energy market decays fast comparatively. Additionally, it depicts that there is no leverage effect in both Indian and US energy markets. This study furnishes an insight to the investors and portfolio managers with respect to risk prediction considering impact of good and bad news.
