Peres fish (Osteochilus kappenii) is a native freshwater fish in Central Aceh, Indonesia. This study aimed to determine the morphology and histology development of the digestive tract of Peres larvae. Understanding the developmental stages is essential to support the success of larval rearing during ontogeny. The parameters observed include the total length (TL) of larvae, daily growth rate, larval morphology, and histology of the digestive tract. Furthermore, the total length of the larvae was measured from 1 to 25 day after hatching (DAH). The larvae sampling was conducted at 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 10, 15, 20, and 25 DAH. Morphological and histological observations were carried out microscopically, and data were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the TL of larvae growth at the beginning (1 DAH) and termination (25 DAH) of the study was 4.58 ± 0.24 mm and 9.62 ± 0.79 mm, respectively. Based on the structural development of the body and food sources, the development of percussion larvae was divided into four phases, namely the yolk sac (0-4 DAH), pre-flexion (5-15 DAH), flexion (16-20 DAH), and post-flexion (21-25 DAH). The yolk was completely absorbed 4 DAH, marking the end of the yolk sac phase, as the Peres fish larvae began to use external feed. At 25 DAH, the larval morphology was fully formed and pigmentation spread throughout the body. The digestive organs and glands are well-developed with differentiation of the midgut and hindgut, increased goblet cells in the intestine, and increased lipid vacuoles in the liver and zymogen in the pancreas to utilize feed optimally. Gamal leaves have good potential to be used as an alternative feed ingredient for herbivorous and omnivorous fish species. The aim of this research is to determine the effect and optimal dose of adding fermented gamal leaf flour as a feed ingredient on the growth of freshwater pomfret seeds (Colossoma macropomum). The test fish used in this study were freshwater pomfret fish (C. macropomum) with a body length of 6.3-7 cm and weight of 2.6-4.12 g. Experimental fish were maintained at a stocking density of 10 fish/container for 40 days. Feeding is carried out at 07:00 WIB, 12:00 WIB, and 17:00 WIB. The research method used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method with six treatments and three replications. Treatment A did not add fermented gamal leaf flour (0%), treatments B, C, D, E, and F added fermented gamal leaf flour 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50%. The addition of fermented gamal leaf flour in feed had an effect (P<0.05) on absolute growth in length and weight, specific growth rate, feed utilization efficiency and feed conversion ratio, but had no effect (P>0.05) on the viability of pomfret seeds. tasteless (P<0.05). As one of the most serious pathogens in mariculture, the outbreaks of grouper Iridovirus (SGIV‐Gx) caused high mortality rates in cultured groupers in Guangxi, China. Hence, effective medicines for fighting against grouper Iridovirus are urgently needed. The possible application of Curcuma kwangsiensis ingredients against SGIV‐Gx infection was evaluated in vitro and in vivo in this study. The safe working concentration of each C. kwangsiensis ingredient was identified (C. kwangsiensis ethanol ingredient, CKEE ≤5 mg/ml; curcumin ≤20 μg/ml; curdione ≤500 μg/ml; curcumenol ≤500 μg/ml; curcumol displayed no cytotoxic effects even at 2 mg/ml) in vitro and in vivo. The inhibitory activities of each C. kwangsiensis ingredient against SGIV‐Gx infection were analysed using aptamer (Q2)‐based fluorescent molecular probe (Q2‐AFMP) and RT‐qPCR. The results showed that C. kwangsiensis ingredient (CKEE, curcumin, curcumol, curdione and curcumenol) displayed antiviral activities against SGIV‐Gx infection in a dose‐dependent manner. Furthermore, according to the inhibitory percentage analysed using RT‐qPCR results, CKEE and curdione had the best antiviral activity against SGIV‐Gx above 93%. Overall, the results suggest that some C. kwangsiensis ingredients have excellent antiviral effects, making it an interesting candidate for developing effective medicines for preventing and controlling SGIV‐Gx outbreaks in mariculture. Background: Recent work suggested that the presence of specific memory or some form of adaptive immunity occurs in insects and shrimp. Hypervariable pattern recognition molecules, known as Down syndrome cell adhesion molecules, are able to mount specific recognition, and immune priming in invertebrates. In the present study, we attempted to understand the immune response pattern of white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei which received primary (PE) and secondary exposure (SE) to Vibrio alginolyticus. Methodology: Immune parameters and proliferation of haematopoietic tissues (HPTs) of shrimp which had received PE and SE to V. alginolyticus were measured. In the PE trial, the immune parameters and proliferation of HPTs of shrimp that received heat-killed V. alginolyticus (HVa) and formalin-inactivated V. alginolyticus (FVa) were measured. Mortality, immune parameters and proliferation of HPTs of 7-day-HVa-PE shrimp (shrimp that received primary exposure to HVa after 7 days) and 7-day-FVa-PE shrimp (shrimp that received primary exposure to FVa after 7 days) following SE to live V. alginolyticus (LVa) were measured. Phagocytic activity and clearance efficiency were examined for the 7∼35-day-HVa-PE and FVa-PE shrimp. Results: HVa-receiving shrimp showed an earlier increase in the immune response on day 1, whereas FVa-receiving shrimp showed a late increase in the immune response on day 5. The 7-day-FVa-PE shrimp showed enhancement of immunity when encountering SE to LVa, whereas 7-day-HVa-PE shrimp showed a minor enhancement in immunity. 7-day-FVa-PE shrimp showed higher proliferation and an HPT mitotic index. Both phagocytic activity and clearance maintained higher for both HVa-PE and FVa-PE shrimp after 28 days. Conclusions: HVa- and FVa-receiving shrimp showed the bacteria agglutinated prior to being phagocytised. FVa functions as a vaccine, whereas HVa functions as an inducer and can be used as an immune adjuvant.
