Abstract

An efficient fluorescent sensory platform was designed and synthesized for recognition of copper ion (Cu2+) in presence over other competing ions. The probe DTBPA 1 was displayed fluorescence color change upon addition of Cu2+ ion which was also characterized by spectroscopic techniques especially the fluorescence and colorimetric methods. The probe showed turn‐off fluorescence response to the Cu2+ ion. The limit of detection for the probe was found to be 0.789 μM while binding stoichiometry for the probe to metal ion was found to be 2 : 1 tested by Jobs analysis. The binding constant for the probe was found to be 1.13×106 M−1. Further the probe was utilized for detection of trace amount of Cu2+ ion in real water sample with recoveries 98.24 %~104 %. The molecule was further utilized in test strip application. The calculated fluorescence quantum yield was found to be 3.2. The theoretically Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations were performed for the probe using Gaussian 16 ab initio/DFT quantum chemical simulation and the DFT calculations were supporting the experimental findings. Abstract

In this paper, we report the design and synthesis of three naphthalene diimide‐ (NDI) and anthraquinone‐ (AQ) based organic chromophores derived from direct arylation reactions; NDI−AQ, AQ−NDI−AQ and NDI−AQ−NDI. Compared to classic cross‐coupling reactions, this method reduced the number of synthetic and purification steps. The chemical structures, photophysical and electrochemical properties of these molecules were characterized using UV‐vis spectroscopy, fluorescence emission spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry (CV). The optoelectronic properties of the three dyes enabled the fabrication of organic thin film transistors (OTFTs). The fabricated OTFTs displayed good n‐type semiconducting properties, with electron mobilities (μe ${{\mu }_{e}}$) of 1.5–4.2×10−4 cm2 V−1 s−1. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

We have designed and synthesised NDI derivatives bearing L-Trp-L-Glu methyl ester (Trp-GLU) and studied their self-assembly in THF-MCH and THF-H2O solvent mixes. The optical properties of NDI-Trp-GLU in solution have been investigated by means of UV-Vis absorption and fluorescence spectroscopic techniques and redox properties have been examined using cyclic voltammogram. Interestingly, NDI-Trp-GLU self-assembled into microflowers and microfibers with increasing proportion of MCH and H2O solvent, respectively, which suggests that solvophobic control is important for self-assembly phenomenon. Abstract

A pyrene-based probe bearing benzothiazole ionophore (Py-BTZ) was synthesised as a “turn-on” fluorescent chemosensor for the detection of Fe3+ and Fe2+ ions in CH3CN : H2O (1 : 1, v/v) solvent mixes. The chemosensor showed optical as well as colorimetric changes towards Fe3+ and Fe2+ ions along with a remarkable enhancement in fluorescence emission. The detection limit of Py-BTZ towards Fe3+ and Fe2+ ions was found to be 2.61 μM and 2.06 μM, respectively. The binding of Py-BTZ with Fe3+ and Fe2+ was determined by using FT-IR experiments. Interestingly, Py-BTZ shows aggregation induced emission enhancement (AIEE) properties in polar solvent mixes such as CH3CN : H2O (1 : 1, v/v). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Herein we present the design, synthesis and characterization of two novel, naphthalene diimide (NDI) core-based non-fullerene acceptors, N5 and N6, comprising respectively 2-methoxyethyl-2-cyanoacetate and cyanopyridone acceptor functionalities at the terminals. The influence of terminal units on optoelectronic and photovoltaic properties was studied. The target chromophore bearing cyanopyridone acceptor units (N6) afforded a power conversion efficiency of 6.10% when paired with the conventional donor polymer poly(3-hexylthiophene), a result that is the highest for the NDI core-based non-fullerene acceptors. Abstract

A new selective and sensitive HSO4-ion receptor based on fused pyridopyrimidine was developed. The detection of HSO4-over other anions such as Cl-, F-, Br-, I-, ClO4-, H2PO4-, NO3-, and AcO- was confirmed by fluorescent color changes, UV-vis and fluorescence spectroscopy. The HSO4- ion binding with the receptor was also investigated with a binding constant 1.09387 x 105 M-1, which revealed that the receptor showed a remarkable binding ability towards the HSO4- ion. The limit of detection was calculated to be 6.0378 x 10-5 M in ACN:H2O (1:3, v:v) solvent mixture. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
