Purpose: To gain a better understanding of the assessment practices currently implemented by Quebec physical education teachers regarding reporting and grading. Method: Exploratory mixed-methods study using semistructured interviews (n = 13), interviews to the double (n = 12), and a questionnaire (n = 164) with elementary and high school physical education teachers. Results: Participants use different strategies to report student performance. When grading, their strategy is to combine a mathematical approach with their professional judgment. They often consider all the marks taken during a learning and assessment situation and not only those taken at the end of it. Discussion/Conclusions: The main finding of this study is that teachers' reporting and grading practices are subjective. We discuss how our results show the subjectivity in teachers' practices and possible explanations for it, and then conclude by trying to understand how to make assessment in physical education more objective. RATIONALE: Research studies typically quantify acute respiratory exacerbation episodes (AECOPD) among people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) based on self-report elicited by survey questionnaire. However, AECOPD quantification by self-report could be inaccurate, potentially rendering it an imprecise tool for identification of those with exacerbation tendency. OBJECTIVE: Determine the agreement between self-reported and health records-documented quantification of AECOPD and their association with airway inflammation. METHODS: We administered a questionnaire to elicit the incidence and severity of respiratory exacerbations in the three years preceding the survey among current or former heavy smokers with or without diagnosis of COPD. We then examined electronic health records (EHR) of those with COPD and those without (tobacco-exposed persons with preserved spirometry or TEPS) to determine whether the documentation of the three-year incidence of moderate to very severe respiratory exacerbations was consistent with self-report using Kappa Interrater statistic. A subgroup of participants also underwent bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) to quantify their airway inflammatory cells. We further used multivariable regressions analysis to estimate the association between respiratory exacerbations and BAL inflammatory cell composition with adjustment for covariates including age, sex, height, weight, smoking status (current versus former) and burden (pack-years). RESULTS: Overall, a total of 511 participants completed the questionnaire, from whom 487 had EHR available for review. Among the 222 participants with COPD (70 ± 7 years-old; 96% male; 70 ± 38 pack-years smoking; 42% current smoking), 57 (26%) reported having any moderate to very severe AECOPD (m/s-AECOPD) while 66 (30%) had EHR documentation of m/s-AECOPD. However, 42% of those with EHR-identified m/s-AECOPD had none by self-report, and 33% of those who reported m/s-AECOPD had none by EHR, suggesting only moderate agreement (Cohens Kappa = 0.47 ± 0.07; P

BACKGROUND: Hope is correlated with quality of life and overall survivorship among patients with cancer. We aimed to identify sociodemographic and clinical determinants of hope among patients with gastrointestinal (GI) cancer. METHODS: Patients with GI cancer seen in radiation oncology between 10/2022 and 6/2023 were surveyed with the Adult Hope Scale (AHS) questionnaire, which assesses hope based on goal-setting and goal-striving beliefs. Linear regression and Pearsons/Spearmans correlation coefficients were used to evaluate associations between AHS scores and demographic or disease variables. RESULTS: One-hundred and forty-five (71.1% response rate) patients were included in the analysis. Most (75%) patients were symptomatic from disease, and Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) patients accounted for 30.3% of our cohort. Identifying as AAPI or needing an interpreter for clinic visits was significantly associated with lower AHS scores, and more AAPI patients required interpreter assistance compared to non-AAPI patients (P=0.04). Being divorced, unemployed, or female was also linked to less hope. No other differences in hope were found. CONCLUSIONS: Sociodemographic rather than prognostic clinical factors were predictive of hope among patients with GI cancer. Interventions to contextualize psychosocial risk factors have the potential to improve quality of life and oncologic outcomes.

ABSTRACT Cross‐sectional research employing the mirror mark test of self‐recognition has dominated research focused on the development of self‐reflection in children. However, the mirror mark test may fail to capture the complexity of self as a social object, and the developmental antecedents and consequences of self‐reflection remain largely uncharted. Here, we provide an overview of the extant longitudinal data on mirror self‐recognition and present our own longitudinal findings based on a multidimensional parent‐report measure of children's self‐development. Offering a snapshot of development over 3 months for 74 children aged between 14 and 36 months, and mirroring extant longitudinal data for mirror self‐recognition, our results suggest that increases in self‐reflection are longitudinally related to developments in pretend play, prosocial behaviour, imitation and declarative pointing. However, although baseline self‐reflection was statistically predictive of children's prosocial behaviour at follow‐up, no strong developmental predictor of self‐reflection emerged. We conclude that more longitudinal research, moving beyond or supplementing mirror self‐recognition, is needed to identify the cognitive and social precursors of self‐reflection. Nevertheless, growth in ‘moral’ behaviour emerges as a significant developmental consequence of this capacity in a western sample. Introduction: Traits of borderline personality disorder are important for the determination of the prognosis of mental illnesses and in evaluating risks of negativity as well as impulsivity. But, there is a lack of information about the distribution characteristics of borderline personality disorder traits and symptoms within clinical groups. The goal of the current study was to predict borderline personality disorder based on childhood trauma, using experiential avoidance as a mediator. Methods: All male patients hospitalized in local psychiatric health centers with a diagnosis of borderline personality disorder comprised the statistical population of the current study. The number of 60 patients were selected by the purposeful sampling method. The questionnaire included the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ), the Experiential Avoidance Questionnaire (AAQ-II), and the Borderline Personality Disorder Symptoms (BSL-23). Results and discussion: The results demonstrated that there is a considerable and positive relationship between childhood trauma and experiential avoidance (r = 0.711, p< 0.01). In the mediating model, childhood trauma had significant direct predictive effects on borderline personality disorder (β = 0.546, p< 0.01). ABSTRACT Objective Method Results Discussion The Eating Disorder Examination Questionnaire (EDE‐Q) is a widely‐used measure of eating‐disorder symptoms. However, inconsistent replication of the subscale structure raises concern about validity. To provide a rigorous test of the EDE‐Q's dimensionality and item‐quality, we applied modern and classical test theory approaches to data obtained from a large, transdiagnostic sample of people with clinical eating disorders.We analyzed data from 1197 individuals (Mage = 27.9 years, SD = 10.08, 95% female) with various eating disorders, who had been assessed for treatment at a specialized program. Exploratory analyses (including Parallel Analyses), Confirmatory Factor Analyses (CFA) and graded‐response Item Response Theory (IRT) analyses, were conducted with Mplus.Factor analyses showed inappropriate fit to the original EDE‐Q subscales, as well as for alternative 1,2,3, and 4‐factor solutions. Parallel analyses suggested a one‐dimensional structure as best fit. IRT analyses showed substantial variability in EDE‐Q‐item quality and indicated that five items (fear of weight gain, feeling fat, desire to lose weight, importance of weight, importance of shape) were most pertinent to determining severity. The construct validity of the five EDE‐Q items was confirmed by a CFA, showing excellent fit.Our results suggest that EDE‐Q scores are best interpreted as spanning a one‐factor continuum. IRT results suggest that some items are more pertinent than others for determining eating‐disorder severity. Results could be useful for establishing short EDE‐Q versions, such as a five‐item version, which, in turn, would be helpful for measurement‐based clinical practice and for data‐collection in epidemiological and experimental studies. Sports are characterized by unique rules, environments, and tasks, but also share fundamental similarities with each other sport. Such between-sports parallels can be vital for optimizing talent transfer processes. This study aimed to explore similarities between sports to provide an objective basis for clustering sports into families by means of machine learning. An online survey was conducted, garnering responses from 1,247 coaches across 36 countries and 34 sports. The survey gauged the importance (0 = not important 10 = important) of 18 characteristics related to the sport and the athlete performing in that sport. These traits formed the basis for the categorization of a sport by means of machine learning, particularly unsupervised clustering, and the LIME feature explainer. Analysis grouped 34 sports into five clusters based on shared features. A similarity matrix illustrated the degree of overlap among sports. The application of unsupervised clustering emphasized the lack of a single overarching attribute across sports, marking a shift away from traditional clustering approaches that rely on a limited set of characteristics for talent transfer. Background: Research involves the systematic collection and analysis of data to enhance understanding of a particular phenomenon. Participation in medical research is crucial for advancing healthcare practices. However, there has been limited focus on understanding the factors that motivate medical students to engage in research. Additionally, in the era of e-learning, the easy accessibility of online resources has contributed to a widespread 'copy-paste culture' among digital-native students, which is recognized in academia as plagiarism. Existing studies suggest that a contributing factor to the increasing prevalence of plagiarism is students' limited understanding of this act. The purpose of this study was to assess medical students' attitudes toward research and plagiarism, and to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Attitudes Toward Research (ATR) and Attitudes Toward Plagiarism (ATP) questionnaires. Methods: This was a multicenter study conducted among medical undergraduate and postgraduate students attending the three medical universities who were involved in research. Students' attitudes toward research and plagiarism were assessed using the ATR and ATP questionnaires. The research instruments underwent translation and cultural adaptation in accordance with internationally accepted methodology. The psychometric properties of the ATR and ATP, including validity and reliability, were assessed. Confirmatory factor analysis was used to test the model's fit to the data. Results: The ATR and ATP questionnaires were completed by 793 medical students who were involved in research (647 undergraduates and 146 PhD students). Cronbach's alpha coefficients of 0.917 and 0.822 indicated excellent and good scale reliability for the ATR and ATP questionnaires, respectively. The five-and three- factor structures of ATR and ATP have been validated with maximum likelihood confirmatory analysis, and the results demonstrated an adequate level of model fit (TLI = 0.930, CFI = 0.942 and TLI = 0.924, CFI = 0.943, respectively). Medical students showed a high degree of positive attitudes toward research and favorable scores across all three domains of attitudes toward plagiarism. In multivariate regression models, age was found to be positively associated with favorable attitudes of research usefulness, positive attitudes, relevance to life subscales and total ATR scale (p < 0.001), while PhD study level was related to research anxiety (p < 0.001) and favorable attitudes across all three ATP domains (p < 0.001). Conclusion: Medical students who were involved in research showed a high degree of favorable attitudes toward research and plagiarism. Adjusting medical school curricula to include research courses would broaden the students' interest in scientific research and maximize their impact on the full preservation of research ethics and integrity. Promoting sustainability within university institutions entails conducting assessments to lay the groundwork for developing educational methodologies. This article presents the validation of a quantitative 36-item scale questionnaire to measure university students' perceptions towards sustainability. A total of 285 university students from different Spanish Universities participated in completing the questionnaire. The reliability and validity of the instrument were statistically assessed through Cronbach's alpha and confirmatory factor analysis. The questionnaire is of mixed character, combining 6-point Likert scale questions (ranging from "Strongly disagree" to "Strongly agree"), closed and open-ended questions. It was structured into six dimensions: knowledge, attitude, willingness to act, behavior, self-efficacy, and affective. The first five dimensions were confirmed by a confirmatory factor analysis, demonstrating a good fit level in the model (RMSEA = 0.043, CFI = 0.972, SRMR = 0.076, TLI = 0.970 and X2/df = 1.45), while the affective dimension was analyzed using a qualitative approach. Internal reliability, found using Cronbach's alpha, varies between 0.737 and 0.909. The results show that the instrument meets the validity and reliability criteria. Consequently, a valuable tool for academic utilization is suggested, offering a diagnostic and monitoring mechanism for evaluating sustainability perceptions, a topic that has recently garnered significant attention. Bycatch is the most significant threat to marine mammals globally. There are increasing requirements for national governments to fulfil their obligations to international agreements and treaties to assess fisheries catch and bycatch of non-target species. Questionnaire surveys represent one low-cost method to collect data to estimate fisheries catch and bycatch of vulnerable species including marine mammals. Questionnaire surveys can be particularly advantageous when bycatch is being investigated on large spatial and temporal scales, or in data-poor areas. This review aims to provide the necessary guidance required to design and conduct questionnaire studies investigating marine mammal bycatch. To do so, a systematic review was conducted of the methods used in 91 peer-reviewed or grey literature questionnaire studies from 1990 to 2023 investigating marine mammal bycatch. Literature was searched, screened, and analysed following the RepOrting standards for Systematic Evidence Syntheses (ROSES) protocols. A narrative synthesis and critical evaluation of the methods used were conducted and best practice recommendations are proposed. The recommendations include suggestions for how to generate representative samples, the steps that should be followed when designing a questionnaire instrument, how to collect reliable data, how to reduce under-reporting and interviewer bias, and how weighting or model-based bycatch estimation techniques can be used to reduce sampling bias. The review's guidance and best practice recommendations provide much-needed resources to develop and employ questionnaire studies that produce robust bycatch estimates for marine mammal populations where they are currently missing. Recommendations can be used by scientists and decision-makers across the globe. Whilst the focus of this review is on using questionnaires to investigate marine mammal bycatch, the information and recommendations will also be useful for those investigating bycatch of any other non-target species. Background: Cluster headache (CH) can lead to high disability and reduced quality of life (QoL). QoL should be assessed as an important outcome both in research and in clinical care. The 28-item Cluster Headache Quality of Life Scale (CH-QoL) is a valid self-report questionnaire to assess disease-specific QoL. A German version is lacking. This study aims to develop a German-language version and to determine its psychometric properties. Methods: The CH-QoL was translated into German by two headache experts and blindly back-translated by two professional translators. Additionally, the CH-QoL was tested for comprehensibility by nine persons with CH. In this multi-stage process, linguistic discrepancies were repeatedly discussed in an expert panel and appropriate modifications were conducted to optimize the translation. A cross-sectional online survey, comprising the CH-QoL and further self-report questionnaires such as the Cluster Headache Scales (CHS), yielded a sample of N = 106 persons with CH (53.8% female, M = 45.5 [SD = 11.8] years, 48.1% episodic CH, 51.9% chronic CH, 79.2% currently having recurring CH attacks). Results: Exploratory factor analysis revealed two clearly interpretable factors ("restriction of activities of daily living", and "impact on mood and interpersonal relationships"), which is in discrepancy to the four factors of the original English version. The model fit was good, with χ2(323) = 590.74, p <.001, RMSEA = 0.088, SRMR = 0.053, TLI = 0.857. Reliability was very good (McDonald's omega ω = 0.97, Subscale/Factor 1: ω = 0.96, Subscale/Factor 2: ω = 0.92). Correlational analyses (correlations with related questionnaires as well as with clinical parameters) confirmed convergent validity. Conclusions: Since the German version of the CH-QoL has very good psychometric properties, it is suitable for the assessment of disease-specific QoL in people with CH in German-speaking countries. Background: To effectively navigate the growing complexities and rapid changes in today's environment, universities must cultivate agility among their members. Over the past decade, students have encountered a variety of experiences related to E-Learning and the provision of educational services through electronic platforms. This study aimed to develop and validate a Questionnaire of Educational Agility (QEdu-Agility) to assess the capacity of educational institutions to adapt to these evolving demands. Method: This survey research aimed to validate QEdu-Agility. The statistical sample consisted of 372 students from Shiraz University of Medical Sciences in Iran, who had completed at least one academic year online during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2022. Participants were selected using the Cochran formula. The initial questionnaire was based on three standard instruments related to organizational agility and adapted for educational contexts. After establishing face and content validity, the preliminary version was validated by a focus group of five educational experts, comprising 30 items across five dimensions: responsiveness, adequacy, flexibility, speed, and integrity, measured on a 5-point Likert scale. To confirm the construct validity, the questionnaire was randomly distributed to students via email. Data analysis was conducted using Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) with varimax rotation, employing SPSS 24 software. Results: The content validity was confirmed with Content Validity Ratio (CVR) = 0.847, Content Validity Index (CVI) = 0.877, and the reliability with internal consistency was confirmed with R = 0.944. The CVI sub-components for relevance, clarity, and simplicity were obtained as 0.867, 0.853, and 0.847, respectively. According to EFA, the sample adequacy was confirmed with Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) index = 0.928 and significant Bartlett's test (P < 0.001). The total variance explained of the QEdu-Agility was about 60%. The first component of responsiveness accounted for 38.79% of the variance, followed by adequacy (7.99%), flexibility (5.17%), speed (3.91%), and integrity (3.57%) in subsequent components. Conclusion: The findings of the construct validity indicated a good fit of the QEdu-Agility. Given that the concept of agility is highly contingent on the context, this tool could be retested for measuring educational agility in educational organizations, such as universities. Background: Evidence-based practice (EBP) lowers costs, guarantees staying current with new technology and abilities, and enables the provision of high-quality care. Evidence-based practice (EBP) considered the foundation for safe patient care. Aim: is to validate and carry out the linguistic-cultural adaptation of the S-EBPQ for the Arabic language. Design: A methodological study design was used. Method: There were two primary stages: translation and validation. Three experts reviewed the contents during the translation and validation in order to ensure their relevancy. 15 nursing students conducted face validation to confirm the produced items' clarity and understandability. Reliability assessment was achieved by conducting a pilot study on 72 nursing students. Ethical approval was taken. For statistical analysis, SPSS software was used. The internal reliability of the questionnaire was evaluated using Cronbach's Alpha. The Pearson Correlation was used to test the relationship between the student's score on the questionnaire and their age and gender. Results: The Scale-Content Validity Index was 0.90; Cronbach's Alpha value was 0.963. Students in face validation phase confirmed that wording, clarity, and understandable language of the items were achieved. The Mean of students total score was 80.2 (SD = 21.5). Pearson test revealed that there was a weak positive correlation between students' scores and age R = 0.320 (p = 0.001). Also, it demonstrated that there was no correlation between the students' scores and the gender R =—0,028 (p = 0.817). Conclusion: The Arabic version of the S-EBPQ generally had a solid structure and it demonstrated high validity and reliability. The questionnaire could be used in future studies. Summary: Background: Vaccination against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus type 2 (SARS-CoV-2) was one crucial element to overcome the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Even though anaphylaxis to vaccines is rare, 47 patients came to the Allergy Unit at the University Hospital Graz, Austria, reporting immediate anaphylactoid symptoms after administration of COVID-19 vaccines. In addition, 29 patients with known drug-induced anaphylaxis wanted to be tested for a possible sensitization against COVID-19 vaccines or excipients, such as polyethylene glycol (PEG) or polysorbate 80 (PS80) before the first COVID-19 vaccination. Skin prick tests and intradermal tests were performed in all 76 patients, mostly using PEG 2000, and/or PS80. Skin prick tests with COVID-19 vaccines were performed depending on availability. Objective: Our aim was to characterize this patient cohort in terms of patients' anaphylactoid responses, their willingness to future vaccinations against SARS-Cov‑2, and reasons for their decision. Methods: We developed a questionnaire and analyzed 34 completed copies. Results: Of the 47 patients with anaphylactoid reactions to COVID-19 vaccination, most were female (40 female/7 male). The skin tests, even when performed with the respective COVID-19 vaccine, were negative in all but one patient. Most patients who experienced anaphylactoid reactions after a COVID-19 vaccination, did not want another COVID-19 vaccination at the time of answering the questionnaire because of anxiety for another anaphylactoid response at the next shot. Premedication with antihistamines significantly lowered (n = 74 vaccinations) the severity of anaphylactoid responses after COVID-19 vaccinations. Conclusion: Anxiety about another anaphylactoid episode hinders patients to be vaccinated against SARS-CoV‑2 again. Premedication with antihistamines and collaboration of allergologists with psychologists might lower the risk of an anaphylactic/anaphylactoid response as well anxiety in drug-induced anaphylactic patients. Intrapreneurs in sports organisations can detect early signs of new opportunities and threats and introduce early changes to adapt to the constant changes in the sports sector. In addition, intrapreneurs are considered a fundamental pillar in the growth and development of innovation in sports organisations. Thus, the objective of this work is to design and validate an instrument to detect employees with intrapreneurial behaviours in sports organisations. Based on the dimensions of intrapreneurship identified in the scientific literature and related questionnaires, a tool—the COINDE—composed of 46 items distributed in five dimensions was constructed and subjected to expert judgment and a pilot study and subsequently reduced to 26 items and five statistically validated dimensions. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) yielded two valid and reliable models to detect employees with intrapreneurial behaviours in sports organisations, with 5 and 6 dimensions and 25 and 26 items, respectively. The 5-factor model is proposed and justified. The dimensions are: creativity/innovation, risk-taking, proactivity, recognition of opportunities and priority of the internal project. The COINDE is a valid and reliable instrument representing an important advance over the existing instruments by providing specificity of the measure in the sports context, the work profile of the employees of these organisations, and allowing direct evaluation of intrapreneurial behaviour. Electron microscopy (EM) is an important complementary tool in biopsy diagnosis of kidney disease. However, EM is a costly technique and not universally available. In order to understand nephrologists' perspectives on EM, a survey among Flemish nephrologists was conducted. The survey explores nephrologists' knowledge and satisfaction with EM, the barriers in its use, and its role in decision-making. A questionnaire was sent out to Dutch-speaking nephrologists in Belgium (Flanders) via the professional organization NBVN (Nederlandstalige Belgische Vereniging voor Nefrologie). The average satisfaction of EM accessibility in nephrologists, was 4.0 on a scale from 1 (very unsatisfied) to 5 (very satisfied). The main barrier in ordering EM appeared to be the long turnaround time, indicated by 32.5% of nephrologists. The reports were found mostly understandable by 61.0% of the nephrologists. The impact of EM on diagnosis of kidney disease was estimated higher than its impact on the treatment: 24.4% of respondents estimated diagnosis changes in less than 5% of cases, versus 68.3% estimated treatment changes in less than 5% of cases. This study provides key insights into nephrologists' perception on EM services, revealing high overall satisfaction. Understanding the influence of habit on health behaviour, or the formation or disruption of health habits over time, requires reliable and valid measures of automaticity. The most used measure, the Self‐Report Behavioural Automaticity Index (SRBAI; derived from the Self‐Report Habit Index [SRHI]), comprises four items, which may be impractical in some research contexts. Responding to demand from fellow researchers, this study sought to identify whether and which single items from the SRBAI adequately detect hypothesised effects of automaticity, via secondary analysis of 16 datasets, incorporating 16,838 participants and seven different behaviours. We assessed construct validity through correlations between each item and the full SRBAI (and where possible, the SRHI) and predictive validity by examining correlations with behaviour. All four single‐item measures independently met construct and predictive validity criteria. We recognise compelling conceptual and methodological arguments regarding why people should not attempt to assess automaticity via a single, self‐report item. However, where circumstances require brief measures, three SRBAI items each offer a credible and practical one‐item measure that can substitute for the SRBAI or SRHI. We recommend one item in particular—'Behaviour X is something I do automatically'—because it tended to most closely replicate the effects of the four‐item SRBAI. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: This study examines the factorial structure and psychometric properties of the Eating Disorder‐15 questionnaire (ED‐15) in a large clinical sample, as well as the instrument's sensitivity to early clinical change in therapy and ability to measure remission. Method: Participants with eating disorders (N = 278) referred to the Flinders University Services for Eating Disorders in South Australia completed the ED‐15 as well as other measures of eating disorder symptoms and co‐occurring psychopathology, including depression, anxiety, and stress. Results: Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) revealed a two‐factor model for the ED‐15. The ED‐15 had good internal consistency. It showed satisfactory concurrent validity with moderate correlations with the EDE‐Q global score and contribution of unique variance to that score. Correlations indicated good convergent validity with clinical impairment and good divergent validity from depression, anxiety, and stress. The ED‐15 showed a significant medium effect size change within the first four sessions of therapy. Good discriminant validity was indicated by cut‐off scores used for remission, with significantly different levels of ED psychopathology and other impairments between the two groups. Aim: In response to the growing popularity of mobile devices among older adults in Japan, this study aimed to establish a reliable and valid measure of mobile device proficiency by developing a Japanese version of the Mobile Device Proficiency Questionnaire (MDPQ‐J) for the Japanese population. Methods: To evaluate the reliability and validity of the MDPQ‐J, we administered the questionnaire to 100 young or middle‐aged participants (37.78 ± 13.90 years, 57.00% women), and 62 older participants (75.90 ± 6.01 years; 59.68% women). Results: The MDPQ‐J showed a high degree of internal consistency (Cronbach's α = 0.98). Moreover, MDPQ‐J scores in older participants tended to be lower than those in young or middle‐aged participants. In terms of validity, the MDPQ‐J score of older participants was significantly associated with age (ρ = −0.31), the amount of time using a mobile device per day (ρ = 0.64), and the system usability scale (ρ = 0.39). Additionally, the MDPQ‐J scores were significantly positively associated with the importance (ρ = 0.37), performance (ρ = 0.57), and satisfaction (ρ = 0.29) associated with daily mobile device use in older participants. Conclusions: The high reliability and validity of the MDPQ‐J in the Japanese population highlight its utility in adapting mobile devices for older adults, which is crucial in an increasingly digital society. Aim: This study aimed to develop and evaluate the Brief Older Adults' Physical Activity Questionnaire (BOPAQ), which was designed to quickly assess moderate‐to‐vigorous physical activity (MVPA) in community‐dwelling older adults. Methods: We used a cross‐sectional study design involving 165 older participants. The BOPAQ calculated weekly MVPA duration based on two questions regarding the number of days per week engaged in MVPA and the daily duration of activity. Validity was assessed by correlating the MVPA durations derived from the BOPAQ with those obtained from the ActiGraph and International Physical Activity Questionnaire short form. Reliability was evaluated using the intraclass correlation coefficient, and measurement errors were analyzed using Bland–Altman plots. Results: The BOPAQ reasonably correlated with accelerometer‐based MVPA (rho = 0.297) and showed good test–retest reliability (intraclass correlation coefficient of 0.78, 95% CI 0.64–0.87). In contrast, the correlation between the International Physical Activity Questionnaire short form and accelerometer‐based MVPA was poor (rho = 0.139). The cut‐off value for the BOPAQ was set to identify participants engaging in <150 min of objectively measured physical activity per week, corresponding to the 150‐min threshold. However, the area under the curve in the receiver operating characteristic analyses was not significantly high (0.601, 95% CI 0.514–0.688). The Bland–Altman plots showed an underestimation bias of 51.72 min/week (95% CI 1.61–101.84) and showed heteroscedasticity. Objectives: The aim of the present study was to investigate the knowledge and attitudes of first-time pregnant women regarding hearing loss in infants, and to identify the key factors that influence their perceptions. Methods: After validating and ensuring the reliability of a well-structured questionnaire consisting of 15 items, it was distributed to a total of 400 pregnant women who were experiencing their first pregnancies. Utilizing a cluster sampling method, participants were selected from both public hospitals and private gynecologist offices across diverse geographic regions in Tehran, Iran. Participants were asked to respond on a three-point scale (No, Not Sure, Yes). The results were analyzed using both descriptive and analytic statistics. Results: The translated questionnaire exhibited suitable face validity, test–retest reliability, and internal consistency. Findings revealed the highest maternal knowledge for "newborns can be born with hearing loss "(77.5%) and the lowest knowledge score was observed for "delayed birth cry can lead to hearing loss" (23.8%). Regarding attitudes, 72.5% of mothers scored above the mean of 5.65 out of 6, indicating a preference for early diagnosis and intervention. Several factors, such as education level and the mother's city of residence, showed a significant correlation with certain knowledge and attitude-related questions. Notably, individuals receiving care at public hospitals showed greater knowledge compared to those visiting private clinics. Conclusions for Practice: Mothers play a crucial role in child health and need to have a thorough understanding of pediatric diseases in order to make informed decisions. One particular condition that mothers should be well-informed about is hearing loss, as it has a significant impact on language development. However, this study reveals that there are gaps in maternal knowledge when it comes to the specific causes of hearing loss. Significance: Multiple studies have been conducted so far, particularly among mothers that have examined individuals' attitudes and knowledge about newborn hearing loss and the factors that contribute to it. However, this study looks into Iranian mothers' attitudes regarding screening and hearing aids, as well as their awareness about hearing loss and its risk factors, and it compares these findings to earlier research. Purpose: Visual impairment (VI) is still underdiagnosed in patients with acquired brain injury despite the large impact on daily life activities and rehabilitation. The aim of this study was to explore the current practice of identification of VI, management plans, referrals, and experienced barriers in Norwegian hospital settings. Materials and Methods: An online survey was sent out to leaders (n = 62) in hospitals treating patients with acquired brain injury. Data from 22 items covering routines, interdisciplinary collaboration, assessment tools, protocols, barriers, referral practice, and background information were collected. Results: Respondents (n = 108) comprised various professions from mainly acute or subacute settings. Visual field deficits, oculomotor dysfunction, and neglect were most commonly but not routinely assessed (53%–57%). Besides medical examination, patient interviews, and observations rather than standardized tests or questionnaires (82% vs.25%) were used. Few workplaces seemed to have interdisciplinary vision teams (13%). Barriers were patient characteristics such as cognitive and language impairment and limited resources. Below half (45%) felt competent in assessing VI or had attended courses on the topic (44%). Conclusions: The study highlights the need to implement standardized assessment, improve interdisciplinary collaboration, and facilitate training courses to enable hospital staff to assess VI after brain injury. The present study aimed to develop and validate a questionnaire assessing parents' beliefs about, and attitudes toward, supporting young children's English as a second/foreign language development – Parent English Language Belief and Attitude Questionnaire (PELBA-Q). The PELBA-Q was piloted with 173 parents of kindergarten-aged children and further validated with a sample of 278 parents in Hong Kong. A series of exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis was conducted to explore the factor structure and evaluate model fit, which resulted in a 20-item questionnaire with four factors (i.e. Perceived Importance of the Home Environment; Perceived Child's English Language Ability and Self-Efficacy; Normative Beliefs; and Control Beliefs). The convergent and divergent validity of the PELBA-Q were also established by examining the relationship between the PELBA-Q and parents' home practices and family characteristics. The PELBA-Q had satisfactory model fit indices and demonstrated good reliability and validity. The findings showed that the PELBA-Q could potentially be used as a sound assessment tool for measuring parents' beliefs and attitudes on young children's English as a second/foreign language development and could contribute to greater understanding of how parental beliefs and attitudes may influence home practices and children's English language learning outcomes. Food literacy is a growing area of interest given its potential to support healthy and sustainable diets. Most existing food literacy measures focus on nutrition and food skills but fail to address food systems and socio-environmental aspects of food literacy. Further, measures developed and tested in the Canadian context are lacking. The objective of this project was to develop and test the validity and reliability of a brief self-administered measure, in French and English, designed to assess multiple dimensions of food literacy among adults living in Canada. The 23-item Canadian Food Literacy Measure was developed through an iterative process that included assessment of face and content validity through expert review (n = 20) and cognitive interviews (n = 20) and construct validity and reliability, i.e., internal consistency through an online survey (n = 154). The results indicate that the measure is well understood by both English- and French-speaking adults. The measure's construct validity is demonstrated by the observed differences in total scores in hypothesized directions by gender (p = 0.003), age (p = 0.007), education level (p = 0.002), health literacy (p < 0.001) and smoking status (p = 0.001), and the significant positive correlation (r = 0.29; p = 0.002) between total scores and fruit and vegetable intake. The measure also has high internal consistency with a Cronbach's coefficient alpha of 0.80. This measure can be used in surveillance studies to provide insight into the food literacy of adults living in Canada and in epidemiologic research that aims to explore how food literacy is associated with a variety of health outcomes. Objective: To determine the effect of educational interventions on knowledge and approach of Allied Health Sciences Students regarding blood groups and blood donation. Methods: It was a cross-sectional study conducted at the department of Hematology and Transfusion Medicine, University of Child Health Sciences, The Children's Hospital, Lahore from October 2022-January 2023. A self-designed questionnaire was used to assess the baseline knowledge of students followed by educational interventions in the form of small group discussions, video lectures and practical demonstrations. Post-interventions assessment was done using the same questionnaire 30 days later. Data obtained was analyzed using SPSS-23 software. A p-Value <0.05 was considered significant. The reliability of the questionnaire was checked after the pilot study by using the SPSS-23 software and calculated Cronbach's Alpha was 0.82. Results: Of the 99 participants, there were 13 males and 86 females with mean age of 21.41±1.478 years. Pre-interventions, majority participants had moderate knowledge (81.8%). Medical Lab technologists showed better baseline knowledge than the rest. Post-interventions, the level of knowledge among students increased to 94.9%. Pre-interventions, knowledge about blood groups and donation ranged from 14.1-79% and 25.5-77.8% correct responses respectively while post-interventions it went up to 92-100% for both aspects. The willingness to donate blood in future raised from 46.4% to 92.9%. Conclusions: Educational interventions were effective in improving the knowledge of Allied Health Sciences students about blood groups and blood donation. Introduction/Objective: The purposes of this study were to determine the presence of burnout in physical therapists and physical therapist assistants, examine differences in burnout between demographic groups, and explore circumstances that contribute to and alleviate burnout. Methods: A cross-sectional survey consisting of demographic questions, the Maslach Burnout Inventory, and open-ended questions was conducted within two health systems. Descriptive statistics and nonparametric tests were used to analyze responses to close-ended questions and to examine differences between groups. Thematic analysis was used to analyze open-ended questions. Results: In total, 202 individuals participated in the study; 146 participants responded to at least one open-ended question (72.3%). Participants, regardless of demographic characteristic, demonstrated at least some degree of burnout on each subscale. Ten major themes emerged from analysis of circumstances that contribute to and alleviate burnout: 1) workload; 2) schedule; 3) work-life balance; 4) care continuum; 5) coping/morale; 6) team dynamics and resources; 7) psychological or emotional burden; 8) compensation and recognition; 9) physical therapy as a profession; and 10) COVID-19. Conclusion: Burnout is present within physical therapists regardless of demographic group. Understanding circumstances that contribute to and alleviate burnout is an important first step to develop and research strategies to address these circumstances to positively impact the provider, patient, and the healthcare system. One of the concerns of Jerome Kagan (2007) in his article "A Trio of Concerns" was the frequent use of questionnaires in developmental psychology and related disciplines. His main reasons were the minimal overlap between (self-)reported and observed phenotypes, the ambiguity of items, and systematic socioeconomic status (SES) disparities in responding. We wondered whether genetic differences would also influence response bias in cases of ambiguous or even absurd items triggering an acquiescence bias to agree with even impossible question content. We examined the genetic predisposition for the acquiescence response bias in 257 families with twins. Both parents and twins completed a modified Wildman Symptoms Questionnaire and provided salivary DNA samples. From published genome-wide association studies (GWAS), we derived polygenic score (PGS) algorithms for indicators of SES (educational attainment [EA] and income) and for general intelligence (IQ), which were applied to the GWAS results of our participants' DNA. The twins (N = 514 children, 55% monozygotic pairs) were on average 7.92 years old (SD = 0.66), and 51.6% were female. The primary parents were on average 40.48 years old (SD = 4.66), and 91% were female. In 90% of the families, both parents were born in the Netherlands and 91% were from a middle or higher socioeconomic background. Higher PGSs for EA and income but not for IQ predicted less acquiescence response bias in parents and children. In addition to Kagan's reasons for his concerns about questionnaires, we found a genetic predisposition to response bias triggered by the ambiguous form of questions and answers. Public Significance Statement: Jerome Kagan was right with his devastating criticism of the ambiguous content of most questionnaires in psychology. We added to the reasons for his concerns the finding of a genetic predisposition to response bias triggered by the form of questions and answers. This genetic bias to agree with absurd questionnaire items substantiates Meehl's crud factor and inflates results. Objectives: This study aimed to clarify the issues related to pregnancy in patients with inflammatory rheumatic diseases (RDs) and to provide useful information for developing medical services from patients' perspectives. Methods: A survey involving approximately 5000 members of the Patients Association for Collagen Vascular Diseases Japan was conducted using a questionnaire that was sent and returned by mail. The questionnaire items included age at the time of the survey, types of RDs, association of RDs with pregnancy/childbirth outcomes, and pregnancy-related supports and hindrances. Results: We received 491 completed questionnaires. The most common RD was systemic lupus erythematosus (n = 309). Approximately 60% of participants had a history of childbirth. Approximately 60% of participants had previously experienced pregnancy-related challenges due to RDs. These included concerns about the influence of drugs on babies, genetic transmission, and active disease. Patients with active disease at the time of conception were more likely to experience disease exacerbation during pregnancy, but this did not correlate with whether the pregnancy was planned. Conclusion: This study revealed that many patients with RDs experienced pregnancy-related challenges and needed appropriate support based on appropriate information. Background: Stigma is a relevant aspect of Parkinson's disease (PD). Specific stigma tools are needed to address the complex construct of stigma in PD comprehensively. Objective: To test the dimensionality and psychometric properties of the newly developed Parkinson's Disease Stigma Questionnaire (PDStigmaQuest). Methods: In this multi-center, cross-sectional study including PD patients and healthy controls, the dimensionality of the PDStigmaQuest was examined through exploratory factor analysis. Acceptability and psychometric properties were investigated. PDStigmaQuest scores of patients and healthy controls were compared. Results: In total, 201 PD patients and 101 healthy controls were included in the final analysis. Results suggested high data quality of the PDStigmaQuest (0.0001% missing data for patients). The exploratory factor analysis produced four factors: felt stigma, hiding, enacted stigma: rejection, and enacted stigma: patronization, explaining 47.9% of variance. An optional work domain for employed patients was included. Moderate floor effects and skewness, but no ceiling effects were found. Cronbach's alpha of 0.85 indicated high internal consistency. Calculated item-total correlations met standard criteria. Test-retest reliability was high (rs = 0.83). PDStigmaQuest scores correlated significantly with other stigma measures (rs = 0.56–0.69) and were significantly higher in patients than in healthy controls and higher in patients with depressive symptoms than in those without. Conclusions: The patient-reported 18-item PDStigmaQuest showed strong psychometric properties of validity and reliability. Our results suggest that the PDStigmaQuest can be used to assess and evaluate stigma comprehensively in PD, which will improve our understanding of the construct of PD stigma. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Oropharyngeal dysphagia (OD) commonly occurs in neuromuscular diseases (NMD). Appropriate management involves early detection, clinical evaluation, and tailored follow‐up to minimize complications. Various assessment tools exist, including the Sydney Swallow Questionnaire (SSQ), a patient‐reported outcome measure for assessing OD severity in adult patients. This paper proposes utilizing an innovative risk matrix (OD‐Risk‐Matrix) to enhance SSQ interpretation. This matrix categorizes OD risk for each SSQ question, offering valuable assistance to clinicians. Methods: This study analyzes SSQ results from a cohort of individuals with NMD (n = 57). Patients filled in the SSQ during outpatient visits at our neuromuscular center. Subsequently, SSQ scores were grouped by NMD conditions and interpreted using the OD‐Risk‐Matrix categorizing each question's risk as low, moderate, or high. This matrix is based on the SSQ results by categorizing the risk of OD for each question, as well as the likelihood of occurrence of OD. Key Results: In light of the OD‐Risk‐Matrix, the interpretation of SSQ scores revealed various risk categories associated with each question, while also highlighting distinct OD characteristics and discrepancies among the different NMDs. Conclusion and Inferences: In conclusion, the OD‐Risk‐Matrix offers a framework for interpreting the SSQ, revealing variations in the risks of OD among different questions in patients with NMD. This novel approach could be a valuable tool in SSQ interpretation to identify specific fields of OD and could lead to a tailored management plan, prioritizing interventions aimed at reducing the risk of aspiration, ensuring proper nutrition, and enhancing swallowing safety and efficiency. Although substantial research indicates that considerations about status can lead to anxiety and other negative outcomes, a valid measure of the importance individuals attribute to status is lacking. This paper introduces the Status Importance Scale (SIS), a mono‐factorial 10‐item self‐report questionnaire that quantifies how important a person deems status to be. Five studies validate the scale showing that it has excellent internal reliability and acceptable test–retest reliability, it correlates with several related measures (supporting convergent validity), it shows little correlation with theoretically unrelated constructs (supporting discriminant validity), it is the best predictor of conspicuous consumption compared with other potential candidates (supporting concurrent validity), and it can help predicting which activities one gives importance to (further supporting concurrent validity). Finally, as hypothesized by previous literature, the last study reveals that the SIS can predict status anxiety. Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Medication Practical Barriers to Adherence Questionnaire (MPRAQ-TR). Methods: This is a validation study conducted between August 2022 and March 2023 in the ambulatory services of a secondary care private hospital located in Istanbul, Türkiye, among patients (18 years of age and older) with chronic diseases. After the Turkish translation and cultural adaptation of the MPRAQ, and a pilot think-aloud study, the following psychometric properties were assessed: internal consistency by calculating the Cronbach's alpha coefficient, 2-week test-retest reliability, convergent validity by calculating Spearman's rank correlation between the MPRAQ-TR and the Turkish version of Medication Adherence Report Scale (MARS), and predictive validity by evaluating the association between the MPRAQ-TR score and nonadherence to medications. Results: Among the 380 patients (response rate = 89.6%), 72.1% were nonadherent to their medications. The intraclass correlation coefficient was 0.99 for MPRAQ-TR scores (95% CI, 0.98–0.99; p < 0.001). The Cronbach's alpha of the MPRAQ-TR was 0.853. There was a moderate negative correlation between the scores on the MARS and the MPRAQ-TR (Spearman's rho = − 0.525; p < 0.01), supporting the convergent validity of the MPRAQ-TR. In the univariate analysis, the total score of MPRAQ-TR was associated with increased odds of nonadherence to medications (p < 0.01). Sleep and its quality are vital for the normal functioning of the human body. Ship crews are exposed to a range of occupational, social and climatic stressors that adversely affect sleep quality. It is one of the leading indicators of possible health, psychological or emotional problems. The Sleep Quality Questionnaire (PSQI) enables the subject to make a subjective assessment of the factors affecting their sleep and its quality in general. This questionnaire is being applied in Bulgaria for the first time. Volunteers from the ship's crew of the Scientific Research Ship "St. Cyril and Methodius" participating in the first voyage to Antarctica were studied. Unique opportunity to track sleep changes occurring under the influence of extreme conditions. The results obtained show that the questionnaire takes into account the changes that occurred in the crew's sleep quality during the voyage. The data obtained from the pre-departure and post-return questionnaires are compared. Statistical analyses using Wilcoxon's test revealed statistically significant differences between the two groups of data. Statistically significant correlations were observed between the level of anxiety and depression measured by Tsung's test and certain statements from the Sleep Assessment Questionnaire. Purpose: Interest in the quality of life (QoL) of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) has recently increased. Although measurement tools have been devised for IBD in general, there is no specific tool for measuring the QoL of patients with ulcerative colitis (UC). Therefore, we developed a QoL questionnaire specifically for patients with UC. Materials and Methods: The Korean Ulcerative Colitis-Specific Questionnaire (K-UCSQ) was developed through item generation, raw-scale construction, focus group meetings, and multi-center field tests. Two hundred patients with UC were recruited for a field test of the K-UCSQ, and subsequent responses to the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Questionnaire (IBDQ) were also obtained. After performing factor analyses to ensure construct validity, the K-UCSQ was finalized as a four-domain, 28-item questionnaire. Subsequent analyses evaluated the reliability of the K-UCSQ in terms of Cronbach’s alpha, concurrent validity in comparison with the pre-established IBDQ, and predictive validity of the area under the ROC curve (AUC) for clinically relevant QoL outcomes. Results: A Cronbach’s alpha of 0.94 showed excellent reliability. Furthermore, correlation analyses demonstrated the concurrent validity of the K-UCSQ in comparison with the IBDQ. The K-UCSQ also showed high validity in predicting the perceived overall health (AUC of 0.812 vs. 0.797 using the IBDQ) and past 2-week QoL (AUC of 0.864 vs. 0.859 using the IBDQ). Conclusion: The newly developed K-UCSQ is concise, bathroom problem-emphasizing, and UC-specific, suggesting that it could be a valid and reliable UC-specific instrument for QoL measurement. Depression is one of the most prevalent diseases worldwide, with almost half of the adolescent population affected according to latest research. Given this serious burden of disease, research points toward interventions that could effectively fight this disease in this population subset. One of these pivotal interventions is physical activity, although the effects of different sport types and sport performance level on depression have not yet been studied in adolescent populations. Accordingly, the objective of the current study was to assess the relationship between depressive symptoms, sport type and performance level in a large adolescent population. Cross-sectional study assessing a large cohort of adolescents through self-reported data. 10,248 participants aged 11–19 years old answered questionnaires regarding depressive symptoms and sporting habits and were classified according to their sport performance level: from physically inactive to internationally competitive. Girls reported higher incidence of depressive symptoms than boys, difference that further increased during late adolescence. Performance level was related to depressive symptoms: inactive participants reported the highest depressive scores while internationally competitive athletes reported the lowest. However, there were no differences between competitive athletes of different performance levels. Further, sport type had a small influence on depressive symptoms. All these findings result in a potential guideline for future research and community health recommendations: as long as sufficient physical activity levels are met and the adolescent engages in sporting activities, the protection against depressive symptoms remains largely unrelated to the sport type and the level at which he or she performs. Aims: Existing questionnaires provide limited information on the nature, severity and context surrounding lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) experienced during running, jogging and brisk walking. The aims of this study were to develop a theoretical model of the experience of LUTS by females participating in gait‐based exercise activities and to use this model to generate a questionnaire to evaluate the presence, symptoms and bother associated with LUTS experienced by females during gait‐based activities. Methods: A theoretical model was developed through a review of the literature and refined through a focus group consultation including pelvic health physiotherapists, females who experienced leakage during exercise and academic researchers who studied female LUTS. A draft questionnaire was developed using key constructs identified in the model by the focus group. A new expert panel was recruited, which included physiotherapists, women with self‐reported gait‐induced LUTS and urogynecologists. This panel followed a DELPHI process to evaluate the relevance and completeness of the constructs within the questionnaire. Results: Two rounds of consultation were required to reach consensus on the completeness of included constructs as well as the inclusion and wording of questions. The resulting questionnaire contains questions related to five key constructs: physical activity characteristics, symptoms of urgency, urgency urinary incontinence, stress urinary incontinence experienced during exercise and management/mitigation strategies adopted by respondents. Conclusions: The content validity of the brisk walking‐ and running‐induced lower urinary tracts symptoms questionnaire has been established. The thermal design of buildings in hot summer and cold winter regions must meet the requirements of thermal insulation in summer and heat preservation in winter. As a vital component of national compulsory education, primary schools must create a good indoor thermal environment for classrooms, which is particularly important for students. Due to the lack of construction standards and limited research on Chinese regions with hot summers and cold winters, policymakers have no comprehensive and efficient approach to creating optimal indoor thermal conditions in primary school classrooms. Therefore, based on the climate conditions of hot summer and cold winter areas, this study conducted field surveys in primary and secondary schools in hot summer and cold winter areas, summarized and analyzed the current situation of the surveyed classrooms and users' subjective evaluation of the indoor thermal environment of classrooms, and summarized the current hot summer and cold winter conditions. Problems in classrooms in primary and secondary schools in the region are clarified, and the research direction of construction strategies is clarified. The study found that most of the school hours in summer and winter were in a poor indoor thermal environment without refrigeration equipment. ABSTRACT Objectives Methods Results Conclusions Structured patient‐centred assessment is critical for improving care. OHIP‐TMDs are a validated English‐language outcome measure for temporomandibular disorders (TMD) which evaluates the biopsychosocial impact of TMD. Due to language and cultural changes, the original instrument's phrasing of its items may change when translated to Spanish. This study cross‐culturally adapted and validated OHIP‐TMDs for Spanish‐speaking individuals with TMD.OHIP‐TMDs was forward‐backward translated into Spanish (OHIP‐TMDs‐Sp) and cross‐culturally adapted to a Hispanic population with TMD (Diagnostic Criteria for TMD n = 154) according to international norms. All patients completed the OHIP‐TMDs‐Sp, the Graded Chronic Pain Scale (GCPS), and Jaw Functional Limitation Scale (JFLS‐20). A subsample (n = 30) recompleted the OHIP‐TMDs‐Sp after a 3‐week washout to measure test–retest reliability using an intra‐class correlation coefficient (ICC 2.1). OHIP‐TMDs‐Sp, JFLS‐20, and GCPS were analysed for convergent validity and internal consistency.The sample with articular and muscular TMD diagnoses was 85.7% female with a mean age of 29.5. (SD 9.01). OHIP‐TMDs‐Sp had high internal reliability (Cronbach's Alpha = 0.95) and good test–retest reliability (ICC = 0.82; 95% CI = 0.57–0.93). In terms of convergent validity, the OHIP‐TMDs‐Sp demonstrated moderate to large positive correlations with the total JLFS‐20 score (ρ = 0.72; p < 0.01), Mastication (ρ = 0.68; p < 0.01), Communication (ρ = 0.68; p < 0.001), as well to GCPS disability score (ρ = 0.59; p < 0.01), and characteristic pain intensity (ρ = 0.69; p < 0.01).The total score of OHIP‐TMDs‐Sp is reliable for assessing quality‐of‐life in Spanish‐speaking TMD patients. Background: According to the Chinese Society of Anesthesiology, it is recommended that patients with difficult airways be documented and notified, which will provide healthcare professionals with a direct reference when managing airways. However, compliance with this initiative remains unclear. This study was conducted to investigate the current status and need for difficult airway notification at Plastic Surgery Hospital and to explore the factors contributing to noncompliance. Methods: Anesthesiologists, surgeons, and patients in Plastic Surgery Hospital were administered separate questionnaires regarding notification of difficult airway management. Participants were surveyed regarding their attitudes and current practices regarding difficult airway notification. In addition, questions were asked regarding the barriers that contribute to noncompliance. Results: A total of 632 valid responses were obtained and analyzed, giving a response rate of 99.21%. 399 patients (89.46%) felt it was very important for anesthesiologists to inform them about their difficult airway, and 91.03% felt it was very important for them to receive a letter of their airway assessment. However, twenty-two anesthesiologists (64.7%) reported verbally informing less than 50% of patients about their difficult airway after surgery, and only four anesthesiologists informed all patients they encountered. Most surgeons (91.22%) and anesthesiologists (91.18%) believe that it is vital to inform patients verbally, while 114 surgeons (77.03%) and 31 anesthesiologists (91.18%) believe that it is essential to complete a difficult airway notification alert. Among the factors causing noncompliance, 17 (34.69%) believed that absence of mandatory rules, 9 (18.37%) believed that increased workload, and 8 (16.33%) believed that notification methods were lacking. Conclusions: The compliance to difficult airway notification remains low in Plastic Surgery Hospital despite the high incidence of difficult airways. Although anesthesiologists, surgeons, and patients are strongly in favor of it. Among the barriers to compliance were the absence of a well-developed notification system and a means of notification such as an alert form for difficult airways. However, there are few established methods for differentially assessing these disorders and this is complicated by the fact that some measures (e.g. the HQ Hyperacusis Questionnaire) were developed before the concept of misophonia was accepted.We took a group of N = 119 participants with misophonia (varying in severity) and asked them about the presence of hyperacusis (based on a scoping review definition).Scores for some items on the HQ were correlated with scores for misophonia severity (e.g. social impact of sound) and others with scores for hyperacusis (e.g. ability to concentrate in noise). Similarly, some trigger sounds were more indicative of hyperacusis (e.g. dishes being stacked) and others were more indicative of misophonia in the absence of hyperacusis (e.g. chewing).These double dissociations provide compelling evidence for separable forms of sound intolerance. Moreover, our research suggests that a single-item question about hyperacusis is associated with other characteristics of hyperacusis, even when assessed 18 months later. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Somatoform pain poses major challenges in medicine. There is a lack of quantitative instruments that systematically assess psychosocial aspects of somatoform pain. A better knowledge of such aspects could contribute (1) to gaining further insight into the relationship between psychodynamic and psychosocial components of pain, and (2) to facilitating the development and monitoring of improved interventions targeting psychodynamic and psychosocial mechanisms of pain. An item pool on biopsychosocial aspects of pain was developed and completed by 200 patients with somatoform pain disorder. In addition, anxiety (STAI), depression (BDI II), somatization (SOMS-2), and quality of life (SF-36) were assessed. As compared to norm data, patients reported higher scores for anxiety (STAI), depression (BDI-II) somatization (SMOS-2), and lower quality of life (SF-36). Applying item and factor analyses, a new questionnaire (QSP-31) was developed to identify psychodynamic and psychosocial aspects of pain. There was evidence for the construct validity of the six scales through confirmatory factor analysis: Relationships between pain and negative emotions, Negative attitudes towards help-seeking, Negative pain-related childhood experiences, Negative attitudes towards own body, Negative aspects of the doctor-patient relationship, and Perceived pain control. Cronbach's alpha coefficients for these scales lay within the range of .81-.92. Regarding criterion validity, moderate correlations in expected directions were found between all scales and anxiety, depression, somatic symptom severity, and quality of life, except for the scale Perceived pain control. Background This study aimed to determine the proportion of organ donors suitable for donation after circulatory death and investigate the current process followed by critical care physicians for declaring circulatory death to establish organ donation. Methods This observational study involved potential organ donors who had recently died after discontinuation of life support. We conducted an online survey of intensivists to determine how these deaths were confirmed. Results Among the 177 patients who died after withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment across 19 intensive care units in 11 institutions, 49 (27.7%) were considered potential donors. According to general medical criteria for organ donation, 20 (11.3%) patients were identified as medically suitable donors. Notably, 116 (73.9%) patients exhibited a flat electrocardiogram within 5 min after the loss of pulse. In the survey, 90 physicians (59.2%) agreed to implement the concept of the 5-min no-touch period for the declaration of circulatory death. Conclusions This study found that 11.3% of the patients who died following the withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment in the intensive care units were identified as suitable donors after circulatory death. Nursing interruptions occur frequently and often have adverse outcomes, threatening patient safety. Emergency departments have a high incidence of nursing interruptions owing to the concentration of critically ill patients and frequent emergencies. Current research mainly focuses on large hospitals and uses observation and interview methods. Therefore, there is a need to develop tools for measuring emergency nursing interruptions. This study develops a survey questionnaire on emergency nursing interruptions. It tests its validity and reliability by building on the conceptual framework of emergency nursing interruption proposed in the literature. Specifically, we develop a test version of the emergency nursing interruption survey questionnaire using a Delphi expert inquiry and preinvestigation. We selected 1047 emergency nurses in 22 provinces and autonomous regions of China to participate in the survey by completing the questionnaire between June and July 2023 to evaluate the validity and reliability of the questionnaire. The final questionnaire comprised 26 items across 5 dimensions—sources, types, interrupted nursing activities, consequences of interrupted nursing activities, and management of nursing interruptions. The content validity indexes were 0.948 at scale level and 0.842–1.000 at item level. We used exploratory factor analysis (EFA) to extract five common factors with a cumulative variance contribution rate of 66.550%. The results of the confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) demonstrated a good model fit. Cronbach's α coefficient of the questionnaire was 0.912, split‐half reliability was 0.846, and the retest reliability calculated using the intraclass correlation coefficient was 0.915. To ensure the structural validity of the scales, EFA and CFA were conducted using two different datasets. Background: Community nurses (CNs) play an important role in supporting healthy lifestyles, including healthy eating behaviour of patients. However, many CNs do not incorporate healthy eating support in their daily routines to the fullest extent possible. This study aimed to explore (1) the associations between nurse-related behavioural determinants and self-reported healthy eating support practices of Dutch CNs and (2) CNs' need for additional knowledge. Methods: In this cross-sectional survey design, 244 Dutch CNs completed an online, self-administered questionnaire in October-November 2021. The 60 questionnaire items were related to CNs' characteristics, nurse-related determinants, healthy eating support practices (observing problems, having a conversation about patients' dietary behaviour, motivating patients to eat and drink healthier and supporting patients in goal setting) and the need for additional knowledge. The items on determinants and practices used a 5-point Likert scale. Adjusted prevalence ratios (PRadjusted) with 95% confidence intervals (95%CIs) were obtained for the associations between determinants and practices, using adjusted Poisson regression with robust variance estimations. Results: More CNs practiced observing problems (75%) and having a conversation (70%) than did motivating patients (45%) and supporting goal setting (28%) at least often. A more positive attitude (PRadjusted 1.8; 95%CI 1.5–2.2), greater self-efficacy (PRadjusted 1.3; 95%CI 1.1–1.5), greater motivation (PRadjusted 1.5; 95%CI 1.3–1.7) and better abilities (PRadjusted 1.4; 95%CI 1.2–1.6) were associated with a greater prevalence of supporting healthy eating at least often (vs. never to sometimes). Barriers were not associated with healthy eating support (PRadjusted 1.1; 95%CI 1.0-1.2). CNs especially desired more knowledge on diet in relation to cancer, gastrointestinal diseases, severe psychiatric diseases and dementia; methods for motivating patients to start and for supporting patients to sustain healthy eating; and dealing with patient autonomy. Conclusions: This study suggests that nurse-related behavioural determinants such as attitude, self-efficacy, motivation and ability should be addressed to improve CNs' competences in healthy eating support. In addition, based on self-reported need for additional knowledge, it is recommended to pay attention to evidence-based behaviour change techniques, dealing with patient autonomy, and diet in relation to cancer, gastrointestinal diseases, severe psychiatric diseases and dementia.
