Acceleration of urbanisation is posing great challenges to sustainable development. Growing accessibility to big data and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies have revolutionised many fields and offered great potential for addressing pressing urban problems. However, using these technologies without explicitly considering responsibilities would bring new societal and environmental issues. To maximise the benefits of big data and AI while minimising potential issues, we envisage a conceptual framework of Responsible Urban Intelligence (RUI) and advocate an agenda for action. We first define RUI as consisting of three major components including urban problems, enabling technologies, and responsibilities; then introduce transparency, fairness, and eco-friendliness as the three dimensions of responsibilities which naturally link with the human, space, and time dimensions of cities; and further develop a four-stage implementation framework for responsibilities as consisting of solution design, data preparation, model building, and practical application; and finally present a research agenda for RUI addressing challenging issues including data and model transparency, tension between performance and fairness, and solving urban problems in an eco-friendly manner.

IgG subclasses and complement molecules of sera-dominant and depositing in glomeruli play major roles in development and prognosis in patients of glomerular diseases. In patients of lupus nephritis (LN) due to systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), IgG subclasses depositing in sera and glomeruli are predominantly IgG1 and IgG3. And C1q and C3 deposits in glomeruli may be observed. Complement activation is predominant in classical pathway with an acute onset. A more severe state denotes a worse prognosis. A lower serum level of C3/C4 reflect disease activities. In patients of primary membranous nephropathy (PMN), IgG4 is a predominant IgG subclass deposited in sera and glomeruli. Deposition of complement C3/C4d is common in glomeruli. And complement activation is dominated by lactin pathway with a slower onset, a milder status and a better prognosis and an elevation of specific anti-PLA2R antibodies in sera reflects disease activity. In IgA nephropathy and ANCA-associated vasculitis kidney injury, IgG subclasses and complement molecules in sera and glomerulus have been reported. Whereas infectious, metabolic and tumor-associated glomerular diseases are less thoroughly studied, the values of diagnosis, differential diagnosis and prognostic assessment should be further explored.

Aiming to improve the gel property of egg white proteins, in this research, taking egg white protein (EWP) as the research object, the changes in texture, water-holding ratio, molecular forces, Fourier transform infrared chromatography, circular dichroism spectrum, particle size, potential, sulphydryl content, surface hydrophobicity, and scanning electron microscopy were analyzed to explore the mechanism and structural changes of heat-induced gel of EWP after the treatments of Ultra-high Pressure (UHP), Transglutaminase (TG) and Ultra-high Pressure Synergistic Transglutaminase (UTG). The results showed that the hardness, elasticity and water holding capacity of UHP-EWP, TG-EWP and UTG-EWP were all improved, and hydrophobic interaction was the main force to maintain gel. The α-helix content of UHP-EWP, TG-EWP and UTG-EWP decreased, while the β-fold content increased. The average particle size and absolute potential of UHP-EWP decreased, while the changes of TG-EWP and UTG-EWP were opposite. The content of free sulfhydryl groups in UHP-EWP, TG-EWP, and UTG-EWP increased, the content of total sulfhydryl groups decreased, and the surface hydrophobicity increased. The gel structure was more compact and smooth, and the flatness was improved. This research provides a theoretical basis and research ideas for the heat induced gel modification of EWP.

This study investigates the influence of accumulative roll bonding (ARB) cycles on the microstructure and room temperature (RT) mechanical properties of AT31/ATX3105 magnesium (Mg) alloy composite sheet. It is observed that, as the number of rolling passes increases, the interface between ATX3105 and AT31 layers exhibits stronger bonding. Furthermore, after five cycles of ARB treatment, the grain sizes of AT31 and ATX3105 layers are refined to ∼5.1 μm and ∼4.2 μm, respectively. With the increasing number of ARB passes, the strength of the composite sheets gradually increased, while their ductility showed a wave-like trend. It is particularly noteworthy that the ductility reached an optimal level of ∼17.0% after four ARB cycles. The composite sheet after five ARB cycles demonstrates the best comprehensive mechanical properties, with yield strength (YS), ultimate tensile strength (UTS), and elongation (EL) at ∼ 205.4 MPa, ∼274.9 MPa and ∼15.4%, respectively. The strength improvement mainly comes from grain boundary strengthening and heterogeneous deformation-induced (HDI) strengthening due to the layered grain structure of alternating coarse and fine grains. The results of hetero-structured Mg alloy sheet produced by ARB provides a reference for the development of Mg alloy sheet with good mechanical properties.

On September 5, 2022, the Luding M6.8 earthquake occurred in the Moxi-Shimian segment of the Xianshuihe fault, coinciding with the historical ruptured zone of the 1786 Moxi earthquake. Its seismogenic environment provides a foundation for comprehending the mechanism of the earthquake and its future hazard. In the Moxi-Shimian segment, we establish a series of near-field Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) stations to enhance the spatial resolution of observational data for the inversion of the interseismic kinematic parameters. In this study, with an elastic screw dislocation model constrained by GNSS observations, the slip rate of the Moxi-Shimian segment is estimated to be 10.9 ± 1.0 mm/yr, while the locking depth is 15.7 ± 6.2 km. Additionally, we utilize a block-dislocation model to invert the interseismic fault coupling along the Kangding-Moxi-Shimian segment. The result indicates a gradual deepening of the locking depth along the section from Kangding to Shimian. The coseismic rupture of the 2022 event occurred within the high coupling regions in the Kangding-Moxi-Shimian segment, which indicates that the rupture kinematics in this event might be controlled by the interseismic deformation. The seismic moment accumulated within the ruptured zone of the Luding earthquake since 1786 ranges in [1.42–3.40] × 1019 N·m, which is significantly greater than the seismic moment released during the 2022 event. As a result, we infer that the Luding earthquake released only a portion of the accumulated energy within the original rupture zone since 1786, indicating that the 2022 event has not caused a complete rupture in the Moxi-Shimian segment. Consequently, there remains a substantial seismic hazard in this area.

Background and purpose: According to current consensus, adverse high-risk pathological features are only associated with adjuvant therapy for stage Ⅱ colorectal cancer (CRC). As important prognostic factors, we further explored the possibility of identifying patients with potential recurrence and poor prognosis based on these incorporating high-risk pathological features. Methods: This is a cohort study. A retrospective analysis was conducted on clinical data of CRC patients who underwent surgical treatment at the Second Department of Colorectal Surgery, Fudan University Affiliated Shanghai Cancer Center from 2008 to 2018. This study was approved by the Ethics Committee of the Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center (approval No.: 050432-4-2108*), and the study complies with the Declaration of Helsinki. A total of 9 875 patients were enrolled, including 5 859 males and 4 016 females, aged [M (IQR)] 60 (16) years (range: 16 to 94). Median follow-up time was 1 779.0 days [95% CI: 1 750.1-1 807.9]. We used the Kaplan-Meier method to plot survival curves for different groups. Cox multivariate analysis was used to identify independent risk factors for 5-year overall survival (OS), disease-free survival (DFS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS). Finally, a column chart model was constructed to evaluate and stratify patient prognosis. The Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology (STROBE) checklist was followed for this cohort study. Results: According to the number of incorporating high-risk pathological features, patients were divided into five groups: Hr_0 group (0 incorporating high-risk pathological feature), Hr_1 group (1 incorporating high-risk pathological feature), Hr_2 group (2 incorporating high-risk pathological features), Hr_3 group (3 incorporating high-risk pathological features), and Hr_4 group (4 or more incorporating high-risk pathological features). Abstract Background Jiaohong pills (JHP) consist of Pericarpium Zanthoxyli (PZ) and Radix Rehmanniae, two herbs that have been extensively investigated over many years due to their potential protective effects against cognitive decline and memory impairment. However, the precise mechanisms underlying the beneficial effects remain elusive. Here, research studies were conducted to investigate and validate the therapeutic effects of JHP on Alzheimer's disease. Methods BV‐2 cell inflammation was induced by lipopolysaccharide. AD mice were administered amyloid‐β (Aβ). Behavioral experiments were used to evaluate learning and memory ability. The levels of nitric oxide (NO), tumor necrosis factor‐alpha (TNF‐α), interleukin‐1β (IL‐1β), and interleukin‐10 (IL‐10) were detected using enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The protein expressions of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and the phosphorylation level of mitogen‐activated protein kinase (MAPK) and nuclear factor kappa‐B (NF‐κB) were detected using Western blot. Nissl staining was used to detect neuronal degeneration. Results The results demonstrated that an alcoholic extract of PZ significantly decreased the levels of NO, IL‐1β, TNF‐α, and iNOS; increased the expression level of IL‐10; and significantly decreased the phosphorylation levels of MAPK and NF‐κB. These inhibitory effects were further confirmed in the AD mouse model. Meanwhile, JHP improved learning and memory function in AD mice, reduced neuronal damage, and enriched the Nissl bodies in the hippocampus. Moreover, IL‐1β and TNF‐α in the cortex were significantly downregulated after JHP administration, whereas IL‐10 showed increased expression. Conclusions It was found that JHP reduced neuroinflammatory response in AD mice by targeting the MAPK/NF‐κB signaling pathway.

Abstract Background Gut microbiota is pivotal in regulating hosts' biological processes and maintaining homeostasis, but knowledge about its role in wild herbivores in extreme environments remains limited. Methods Gut bacteria and fungi were sequenced in ruminant (Chiru and Yak) and nonruminant (Kiang) herbivores on the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau, and their community structure, co‐occurrence networks, functions, and assembly mechanisms were investigated using multivariate ecological and statistical methods. Results Kiang had lower gut microbial diversity than Chiru and Yak. Bacterial host‐specific exclusivity was greater than that of fungi. In addition to the evidence of glycan biosynthesis and carbohydrate metabolism, Chiru had a high Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes ratio and low animal pathogen abundance, suggesting better adaptation to the plateau's harsh environment. Additionally, members of gut microbiota tended to co‐occur rather than co‐exclude in all herbivores. Different network complexity and stability patterns were observed between bacterial and fungal communities. Furthermore, gut bacterial assembly was primarily controlled by stochastic dispersal limitation and drift, whereas fungal assembly was primarily controlled by deterministic homogeneous selection except in Chiru. Conclusions On the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau, Chiru and Yak exhibit more diverse gut microbiota and more diverse metabolic functions than Kiang, and gut bacteria are more divergent than gut fungi in these herbivores.

Objective To evaluate and compare the impact of three root canal sealers (C-Root SP, iRoot SP, and AH-Plus Jet) on the sealing performance in single-cone root canal filling using micro-computed tomography (Micro-CT). Methods Ninety mandibular single-rooted extracted teeth meeting inclusion criteria were collected, prepared with Protaper Next up to X3, and randomly assigned to three experimental groups which were C-Root SP group (Group A), iRoot SP group (Group B), and AH-Plus Jet group (Group C). Subsequently, all three groups underwent single-cone root canal filling, followed by one week of oral environment simulation. The sealing performance of the three root canal sealers was evaluated by measuring the proportion of the root canal volume and its rate using Micro-CT. Results In different segments of the roots (upper 1/3, middle, and lower), identifiable bubbles were observed in the Group A, Group B and Group C, with volumes of (0.15±0.03)mm3, (0.22±0.11)mm3, and (0.34±0.28) mm3, respectively. To investigate the evolution of coal permeability during the process of gas pressure change, four different forms of permeability models were derived based on the correlation between mesoscale parameters of coal representative elementary volume (REV) and strain-related characteristics. The reliability of the models was verified using experimental data, and the variation law of strain caused by effective stress and adsorption strain was analyzed and compared with classical permeability models (P-M model, S-D model, Connell model). The sensitivity of model parameters was discussed, the relationship between REV mesoscale parameters and fracture porosity and permeability was clarified, and the influence mechanism of adsorption strain coefficient was analyzed. Furthermore, the extreme values of permeability of major coal mines in China were studied. Results show that for the four permeability models derived in this paper, the REV volume strain satisfies a linear relationship with its fracture volume strain, and the correlation coefficient is the initial fracture porosity. The bulk modulus and adsorption strain coefficient control the influence of effective stress and adsorption strain on permeability, respectively. Under three different experimental conditions of constant confining pressure, constant pore pressure, and constant differential pressure, the four permeability models have shown a better matching effect on the experimental data compared with the classical permeability models. However, compared with single-parameter fitting, the parameter error in the double-parameter fitting (bulk modulus and adsorption strain coefficient) is larger. From the sensitivity analysis of parameters, it is observed that when the parameters change within 10%, the predicted permeability deviates significantly from the true value. Therefore, for the double or multiple-parameter fitting of permeability models, the parameter fitting errors could lead to serious distortion of the predicted permeability results. Taking the experimental data of coal samples from the Qinshui Basin as an example, the mesoscopic scale parameters a0 and b0 of REV were calculated to range from 1.73 to 46.31 μm and from 0.06 to 0.49 μm, respectively. Under constant confining pressure and constant differential pressure conditions, the adsorption strain coefficient was related to differential pressure, gas types, and initial fracture porosity. Furthermore, the extreme values of CO2 gas and CH4 gas in major coal mines in China are within the ranges of 0.94−5.33 MPa and 1.06−6.94 MPa, respectively.

Abstract Background Metal-regulatory transcription factor 1 (MTF1), a conserved metal-binding transcription factor in eukaryotes, regulates the proliferation of cancer cells by activating downstream target genes and then participates in the formation and progression of tumors, including lung cancer (LC). The expression level of MTF1 is down-regulated in LC, and high expression of MTF1 is associated with a good prognosis of LC. However, the association between MTF1 polymorphism and LC risk has not been explored. Methods The genotyping of MTF1 Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) including rs473279, rs28411034, rs28411352, and rs3748682 was identified by the Agena MassARRAY system among 670 healthy controls and 670 patients with LC. The odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were calculated by logistics regression to assess the association of these SNPs with LC risk. Results MTF1 rs28411034 (OR 1.22, 95% CI 1.03–1.45, p = 0.024) and rs3748682 (OR 1.24, 95% CI 1.04–1.47, p = 0.014) were associated with higher LC susceptibility overall. Abstract Background Colon cancer (CC) is a malignancy associated with significant morbidity and mortality within the gastrointestinal tract. Recurrence and metastasis are the main factors affecting the prognosis of CC patients undergoing radical surgery; consequently, we attempted to determine the impact of immunity-related genes. Result We constructed a CC risk model based on ZG16, MPC1, RBM47, SMOX, CPM and DNASE1L3. Consistently, we found that a significant association was found between the expression of most characteristic genes and tumor mutation burden (TMB), microsatellite instability (MSI) and neoantigen (NEO). Additionally, a notable decrease in RBM47 expression was observed in CC tissues compared with that in normal tissues. Moreover, RBM47 expression was correlated with clinicopathological characteristics and improved disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) among patients with CC. Lastly, immunohistochemistry and co-immunofluorescence staining revealed a clear positive correlation between RBM47 and CXCL13 in mature tertiary lymphoid structures (TLS) region. Conclusion We conclude that RBM47 was identified as a prognostic-related gene, which was of great significance to the prognosis evaluation of patients with CC and was correlated with CXCL13 in the TLS region.

Abstract Background L-theanine is a unique non-protein amino acid in tea that is widely used as a safe food additive. We investigated the cardioprotective effects and mechanisms of L-theanine in myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury (MIRI). Methods The cardioprotective effects and mechanisms of L-theanine and the role of Janus Kinase 2 (JAK2)/signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) signaling were investigated in MIRI mice using measures of cardiac function, oxidative stress, and apoptosis. Results Administration of L-theanine (10 mg/kg, once daily) suppressed the MIRI-induced increase in infarct size and serum creatine kinase and lactate dehydrogenase levels, as well as MIRI-induced cardiac apoptosis, as evidenced by an increase in Bcl-2 expression and a decrease in Bax/caspase-3 expression. Administration of L-theanine also decreased the levels of parameters reflecting oxidative stress, such as dihydroethidium, malondialdehyde, and nitric oxide, and increased the levels of parameters reflecting anti-oxidation, such as total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC), glutathione (GSH), and superoxide dismutase (SOD) in ischemic heart tissue. Further analysis showed that L-theanine administration suppressed the MIRI-induced decrease of phospho-JAK2 and phospho-STAT3 in ischemic heart tissue. Inhibition of JAK2 by AG490 (5 mg/kg, once daily) abolished the cardioprotective effect of L-theanine, suggesting that the JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway may play an essential role in mediating the anti-I/R effect of L-theanine. Conclusions L-theanine administration suppresses cellular apoptosis and oxidative stress in part via the JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway, thereby attenuating MIRI-induced cardiac injury. L-theanine could be developed as a potential drug to alleviate cardiac damage in MIRI.

Abstract The construction of an ecologically livable rural environment requires treating rural domestic waste. Farmers, as key participants in rural domestic waste disposal, can improve the rural environment by disposing of domestic waste in an environmentally friendly manner. Few studies have examined the cadre–farmer relationship and its impact on rural waste pollution. Using a questionnaire survey of farmers in Shaanxi Province, China, this study estimates the effect of cadre–farmer relationship on their willingness to treat domestic waste. The findings indicate that a positive cadre–farmer relationship significantly increases farmers’ willingness to treat domestic waste. This positive relationship can also strengthen the positive effects of institutional rules on waste treatment willingness. Further mechanism analysis shows that a good cadre–farmer relationship mobilizes farmers to protect the environment and to comply with national ecological laws and regulations, enhancing their willingness to treat domestic waste. These findings enrich research on rural domestic waste management.

Abstract Background A standard surgical procedure for patients with small early-stage lung adenocarcinomas remains unknown. Hence, we aim in this study to assess the clinical utility of the consolidation-to-tumor ratio (CTR) when treating patients with small (2 cm) early stage lung cancers. Methods A retrospective cohort of 298 sublobar resection and 266 lobar resection recipients for early stage lung adenocarcinoma ≤ 2 cm was assembled from the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University between 2016 and 2019. To compare survival rates among the different groups, Kaplan-Meier curves were calculated, and the log-rank test was used. A multivariate Cox proportional hazard model was constructed utilizing variables that were significant in univariate analysis of survival. Results In the study, 564 patients were included, with 298 patients (52.8%) undergoing sublobar resection and 266 patients (47.2%) undergoing lobar resection. Regarding survival results, there was no significant difference in the 5-year overall survival (OS, P = 0.674) and 5-year recurrence-free survival (RFS, P = 0.253) between the two groups. Cox regression analyses showed that CTR ≥ 0.75(P 56 years (P = 0.007), and sublobar resection(P = 0.001) could predict worse survival. Abstract Background Male infertility has become a global health problem, and genetic factors are one of the essential causes. Y chromosome microdeletion is the leading genetic factor cause of male infertility. The objective of this study is to investigate the correlation between male infertility and Y chromosome microdeletions in Hainan, the sole tropical island province of China. Methods We analyzed the semen of 897 infertile men from Hainan in this study. Semen analysis was measured according to WHO criteria by professionals at the Department of Reproductive Medicine, the First Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical University, where samples were collected. Y chromosome AZF microdeletions were confirmed by detecting six STS markers using multiple polymerase chain reactions on peripheral blood DNA. The levels of reproductive hormones, including FSH, LH, PRL, T, and E2, were quantified using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Results The incidence of Y chromosome microdeletion in Hainan infertile men was 7.13%. The occurrence rate of Y chromosome microdeletion was 6.69% (34/508) in the oligozoospermia group and 7.71% (30/389) in the azoospermia group. The deletion of various types in the AZF subregion was observed in the group with azoospermia, whereas no AZFb deletion was detected in the oligozoospermia group. Among all patients with microdeletions, the deletion rate of the AZFc region was the higher at 68.75% (44 out of 64), followed by a deletion rate of 6.25% (4 out of 64) for the AZFa region and a deletion rate of 4.69% (3 out of 64) for the AZFb region. The genus Conotalopia Iredale, 1929 consisting of marine trochids, primarily inhabits the intertidal zone. Globally, eight recent species have been documented, all of which occur in the Pacific Region. The genus has not previously been recorded from Chinese seas.This study fills a knowledge gap by reporting, for the first time, the presence of the trochid genus Conotalopia Iredale, 1929 in China. Specifically, Conotalopia sematensis (Oyama, 1942) was detailed using morphological characteristics derived from the shell (Fig. 1A-F and H-I), operculum (Fig. 1G) and radula (Fig. 1J-L). Additionally, this study introduces comprehensive scanning electron microscope illustrations and molecular data, contributing valuable taxonomic information for the first time.

Abstract Background The role of novel circular RNAs (circRNAs) in colorectal cancer (CRC) remains to be determined. This study aimed to identify a novel circRNA involved in CRC pathogenesis, assess its diagnostic value, and construct a regulatory network. Methods Differential expression analysis was conducted using circRNA datasets to screen for differentially expressed circRNAs. The expression of selected circRNAs was validated in external datasets and clinical samples. Diagnostic value of plasma circRNA levels in CRC was assessed. A competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network was constructed for the circRNA using TCGA dataset. Results Analysis of datasets revealed that hsa_circ_101303 was significantly overexpressed in CRC tissues compared to normal tissues. The upregulation of hsa_circ_101303 in CRC tissues was further confirmed through the GSE138589 dataset and clinical samples. High expression of hsa_circ_101303 was associated with advanced N stage, M stage, and tumor stage in CRC. Plasma levels of hsa_circ_101303 were markedly elevated in CRC patients and exhibited moderate diagnostic ability for CRC (AUC = 0.738). The host gene of hsa_circ_101303 was also found to be related to the TNM stage of CRC. Nine miRNAs were identified as target miRNAs for hsa_circ_101303, and 27 genes were identified as targets of these miRNAs. Subsequently, a ceRNA network for hsa_circ_101303 was constructed to illustrate the interactions between the nine miRNAs and 27 genes. Conclusions The study identifies hsa_circ_101303 as a highly expressed circRNA in CRC, which is associated with the progression of the disease. Plasma levels of hsa_circ_101303 show promising diagnostic potential for CRC. The ceRNA network for hsa_circ_101303 provides valuable insights into the regulatory mechanisms underlying CRC.

The purpose of this study was to explore an improved phosphate adsorption material to optimize its application in the removal of inorganic phosphorus from eutrophic water. In this paper, a composite method of nano-hydroxyl iron (FeOOH) and anion exchange resin D-201 was proposed. FeOOH@D-201 composite resin was initially obtained by dispersing nano-hydroxyl iron in anion exchange resin D-201. Then, batch adsorption experiments were carried out to evaluate the improvement by comparing the phosphate adsorption capacity of FeOOH@D-201 and pure D-201. The quasi-second-order kinetic model and Langmuir adsorption isotherm model were fitted to analyze the adsorption process and mechanism of the composite resin. The results showed that the maximum phosphate adsorption capacity of FeOOH@D-201 composite resin was 132.1 mg/g, which was 46% higher than that of pure D-201, and broken through the limitations of conventional anion exchange resin in the removal of inorganic phosphorus. The model fitting results showed that the adsorption process was in good agreement with the quasi-second-order kinetic model and Langmuir model, and it was inferred that the adsorption mechanism was mainly electrostatic attraction and coordination. After five acetic acid desorption and adsorption regeneration cycles of FeOOH@D-201, the phosphate removal ability of the adsorbent remained above 70.4%, which confirmed the good regeneration performance of the composite resin.

Summary: Purpose: Numerous barriers hinder individuals with mental illness from seeking medical assistance in rural regions, yet a comprehensive understanding of these challenges remains elusive. This meta-synthesis aims to understand the barriers and facilitators in medical help-seeking among rural individuals with mental illness. Methods: We systematically searched seven databases [PubMed, CINAHL, Medline (OVID), PsycINFO (OVID), Cochrane, Embase, and ProQuest] in May 2023 and included the studies if they reported the barriers or/and facilitators to seek healthcare in rural patients with mental illness. We conducted hand search and citation search on Google Scholar for literature supplements. Thematic analysis was employed. Results: The study included 27 articles reporting on the barriers and facilitators to seeking medical help in this population from 2007 to 2023. We ultimately identified themes at three levels: navigating the terrain of vulnerability and empowerment (the individual with mental illness), navigating the terrain of external environment (the external environment) and connectivity within the healthcare ecosystem for mental health (the health service system). Conclusions: We must design more effective strategies to improve mental healthcare access for rural patients, considering cultural nuances and health service utilization patterns. This requires a multi-level approach, tailored to the unique needs of diverse populations.

Abstract Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) has high heterogeneity, poor prognosis, and limited treatment success. Recently, an immunohistochemistry-based surrogate classification for the “Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center (FUSCC) subtyping” has been developed and is considered more suitable for clinical application. Seventy-one paraffin-embedded sections of surgically resected TNBC were classified into four molecular subtypes using the IHC-based surrogate classification. Genomic analysis was performed by targeted next-generation sequencing and the specificity of the subtypes was explored by bioinformatics, including survival analysis, multivariate Cox regression, pathway enrichment, Pyclone analysis, mutational signature analysis and PHIAL analysis. AKT1 and BRCA1 mutations were identified as independent prognostic factors in TNBC. TNBC molecular subtypes encompass distinct genomic landscapes that show specific heterogeneities. The luminal androgen receptor (LAR) subtype was associated with mutations in PIK3CA and PI3K pathways, which are potentially sensitive to PI3K pathway inhibitors. The basal-like immune-suppressed (BLIS) subtype was characterized by high genomic instability and the specific possession of signature 19 while patients in the immunomodulatory (IM) subtype belonged to the PD-L1 ≥ 1% subgroup with enrichment in Notch signaling, suggesting a possible benefit of immune checkpoint inhibitors and Notch inhibitors. Moreover, mesenchymal-like (MES) tumors displayed enrichment in the receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK)-RAS pathway and potential sensitivity to RTK pathway inhibitors. The findings suggest potential treatment targets and prognostic factors, indicating the possibility of TNBC stratified therapy in the future.

Abstract Our center has observed a substantial increase in the detection rate of fetal left–right(LR) asymmetry disorders between March and May 2023. This finding has raised concerns because these pregnant women experienced the peak outbreak of SARS-CoV-2 in China during their first trimester. To explore the relationship between maternal SARS-CoV-2 infection and fetal LR asymmetry disorders. A retrospective collection of clinical and ultrasound data diagnosed as fetal LR asymmetry disorders was conducted from January 2018 to December 2023. The case–control study involved fetuses with LR asymmetry disorders and normal fetuses in a 1:1 ratio. We evaluated and compared the clinical and fetal ultrasound findings in pregnant women with SARS-CoV-2 infection and pregnant women without infection. The Student t-test was utilized to compare continuous variables, while the chi-squared test was employed for univariable analyses. The incidence rate of LR asymmetry disorders from 2018 to 2023 was as follows: 0.17‰, 0.63‰, 0.61‰, 0.57‰, 0.59‰, and 3.24‰, respectively. A total of 30 fetuses with LR asymmetry disorders and 30 normal fetuses were included. This case–control study found that SARS-CoV-2 infection (96.67% vs 3.33%, P = .026) and infection during the first trimester (96.55% vs 3.45%, P = .008) were identified as risk factors. The odds ratio values were 10.545 (95% CI 1.227, 90.662) and 13.067 (95% CI 1.467, 116.419) respectively. In cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection in the first trimester, the majority of infections (88.1%, 37/42) occurred between 5 and 6 weeks of gestation. We found that 43.7% (66/151) of fetuses with LR asymmetry disorder had associated malformations, 90.9% (60/66) exhibited cardiac malformations. SARS-CoV-2 infection during the first trimester significantly increases the risk of fetal LR asymmetry disorders, particularly when the infection occurs between 5 and 6 gestation weeks. The most common associated malformation is heart malformation.

Abstract Background The early 2 factor (E2F) family is characterized as a kind of transcription factor that plays an important role in cell division, DNA damage repair, and cell size regulation. However, its stress response has not been well revealed. Results In this study, ZmE2F members were comprehensively identified in the maize genome, and 21 ZmE2F genes were identified, including eight E2F subclade members, seven DEL subfamily genes, and six DP genes. All ZmE2F proteins possessed the DNA-binding domain (DBD) characterized by conserved motif 1 with the RRIYD sequence. The ZmE2F genes were unevenly distributed on eight maize chromosomes, showed diversity in gene structure, expanded by gene duplication, and contained abundant stress-responsive elements in their promoter regions. Subsequently, the ZmE2F6 gene was cloned and functionally verified in drought response. The results showed that the ZmE2F6 protein interacted with ZmPP2C26, localized in the nucleus, and responded to drought treatment. The overexpression of ZmE2F6 enhanced drought tolerance in transgenic Arabidopsis with longer root length, higher survival rate, and biomass by upregulating stress-related gene transcription. Conclusions This study provides novel insights into a greater understanding and functional study of the E2F family in the stress response.

Abstract Background Pulmonary fibromatosis (PF) is a specific variant of fibromatosis, which is rarely reported occurring in the lung. PF with HIPK2-YAP1 fusion was a novel entity. Case presentation In this report, a 66-year-old male with PF had been smoking over 40 years. Multiple cords and small nodules in both lungs had been detected in a health examination two years earlier at our hospital. But approximately twofold enlarged in the lingual segment of the upper lobe in the left lung were disclosed in this year. Immunohistochemical analysis demonstrated that the vimentin and β-Catenin were positive in the largest nodule. After underwent a DNA/RNA panel next-generation sequencing (NGS), missense mutations and HIPK2-YAP1 fusion were found in this sample. Ultimately, the case diagnosis as PF with HIPK2-YAP1 fusion after multidisciplinary treatment. Currently, the patient is doing well and recurrence-free at 14 months post-surgery. Conclusions It’s difficult for patients with complex morphology to make accurate diagnosis solely based on morphology and immunohistochemistry. But molecular detection is an effective method for further determining pathological subtypes.

Abstract Temporal solitons have been the focus of much research due to their fascinating physical properties. These solitons can form bound states, which are fundamentally crucial modes in fiber laser and present striking analogies with their matter molecules counterparts, which means they have potential applications in large-capacity transmission and all-optical information storage. Although traditionally, second-order dispersion has been the dominant dispersion for conventional solitons, recent experimental and theoretical research has shown that pure-high-even-order dispersion (PHEOD) solitons with energy-width scaling can arise from the interaction of arbitrary negative-even-order dispersion and Kerr nonlinearity. Despite these advancements, research on the bound states of PHEOD solitons is currently non-existent. In this study, we obtained PHEOD bound solitons in a fiber laser using an intra-cavity spectral pulse shaper for high-order dispersion management. Specifically, we experimentally demonstrate the existence of PHEOD solitons and PHEOD bound solitons with pure-quartic, -sextic, -octic, and -decic dispersion. Numerical simulations corroborate these experimental observations. Furthermore, vibrating phase PHEOD bound soliton pairs, sliding phase PHEOD bound soliton pairs, and hybrid phase PHEOD bound tri-soliton are discovered and characterized. These results broaden the fundamental understanding of solitons and show the universality of multi-soliton patterns.

Abstract Background Acute gastroenteritis (AGE) causes significant morbidity in children worldwide; however, the disease burden of children hospitalized with viral gastroenteritis in China has been rarely described. Through this study, we analyzed the data of hospitalized children with viral gastroenteritis to explore the changes in the epidemiology and clinical characteristics of viral gastroenteritis in the mainland of China. Methods Data were extracted from Futang Children's Medical Development Research Center (FRCPD), between 2016 and 2020, across 27 hospitals in 7 regions. The demographics, geographic distribution, pathogenic examination results, complications, hospital admission date, length of hospital stays, hospitalization charges and outcomes were collected and analyzed. Results Viral etiological agents included rotavirus (RV), adenovirus (ADV), norovirus (NV) and coxsackievirus (CV) that were detected in 25,274 (89.6%), 1,047 (3.7%), 441 (1.5%) and 83 (0.3%) cases. There was a higher prevalence of RV and NV infection among children younger than 3 years of age. RV and NV had the highest detection rates in winter, while ADV in summer. Children with viral gastroenteritis were often accompanied by other diseases, such as myocardial diseases (10.98–31.04%), upper respiratory tract diseases (1.20–20.15%), and seizures (2.41–14.51%). Among those cases, the co-infection rate with other pathogens was 6.28%, with Mycoplasma pneumoniae (M. pneumoniae), Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), and influenza virus (FLU) being the most common pathogens. The median length of stay was 5 days, and the median cost of hospitalization corresponded to587 US dollars. Conclusions This finding suggests that viral gastroenteritis, especially those caused by RV, is a prevalent illness among younger children. Co-infections and the presence of other diseases are common. The seasonality and regional variation of viral etiological agents highlight the need for targeted prevention and control measures. Although viral gastroenteritis rarely leads to death, it also results in a significant economic burden on healthcare systems.

Pre-upsetting deformation is an effective way to optimize the microstructure of plastic forming components and achieve deep modification. In this paper, the pre-upsetting deformation of AZ31 Mg alloy billet was carried out before alternating forward extrusion, and the effect of pre-upsetting deformation temperature on the recrystallization behavior and texture evolution of AZ31 Mg alloy formed by alternating forward extrusion was analyzed. The results showed that the strains generated by the pre-upsetting deformation at different temperatures all leaded to a high dynamic recrystallization (DRX) driving force. This results in a high percentage of recrystallized grains in all pre-upsetting alternating forward extrusion (UAFE) formations. The highest percentage of recrystallized grains 94.5% was observed in U2AFE (pre-upsetting deformation at 623 K). The behavior of DRX has a significant impact on both the distribution and strength of texture. In the case of U2AFE, the maximum basal texture strength is 8.65. This is due to the maximum pole density of the deformed texture, which is composed of non-recrystallized grains and is as high as 9.25. In contrast, the maximum pole density of the recrystallized texture, which is composed of recrystallized grains, is only 8.09. Therefore, non-recrystallized grains play a crucial role in the formation of texture in UAFE. This study provides scientific guidance and technical support for the research of high-performance Mg alloy alternating forward extrusion molding technology.

Sliding bearings are crucial rotating mechanical components in nuclear power plants, and their failures can result in severe economic losses and human casualties. Deep learning provides a new approach to bearing fault diagnosis, but there is currently a lack of a universal fault diagnosis model for studying bearing-rotor systems under various operating conditions, speeds and faults. Research on bearing-rotor systems supported by sliding bearings is limited, leading to insufficient fault data. To address these issues, this paper proposes a fault diagnosis model framework for bearing-rotor systems based on a deep convolutional generative adversarial network (TF-DLGAN). This model not only exhibits outstanding fault diagnosis performance but also addresses the issue of insufficient fault data. An experimental platform is constructed to conduct fault experiments under various operating conditions, speeds and faults, establishing a dataset for sliding bearing-rotor system faults. Finally, the model's effectiveness is validated using this dataset.

Abstract Background This study aimed to explore the expression, molecular mechanism and its biological function of potassium two pore domain channel subfamily K member 1 (KCNK1) in bladder cancer (BC). Methods We integrated large numbers of external samples (n = 1486) to assess KCNK1 mRNA expression levels and collected in-house samples (n = 245) for immunohistochemistry (IHC) experiments to validate at the KCNK1 protein level. Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) analysis was performed to further assess KCNK1 expression and cellular communication. The transcriptional regulatory mechanisms of KCNK1 expression were explored by ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq and ChIA-PET data. Highly expressed co-expressed genes (HECEGs) of KCNK1 were used to explore potential signalling pathways. Furthermore, the immunoassay, clinical significance and molecular docking of KCNK1 were calculated.
