Biomass-derived ethanol (EtOH) and acetaldehyde (AcH) conversion to 1,3-butadiene (1,3-BD) is an alternative process for 1,3-BD production. The present investigation reports the preparation and characterization of isolated La sites introduced into the silanol nests in DeAlBEA as well as detailed studies of the mechanism and kinetics for the conversion of an EtOH-AcH mixture to 1,3-BD. La sites supported on DeAlBEA are found to be present as (≡SiO)2La-OH groups that are H-bonded with adjacent Si-OH groups, possessing high C-C coupling activity and stability, superior to state-of-the-art Y-DeAlBEA. La sites supported on silica (La-SiO2) with a similar chemical structure but no H-bonding interaction with Si-OH groups were prepared for comparison. Lewis acid La sites promote AcH aldol condensation, and the activity of such sites is nearly identical for both La-DeAlBEA and La-SiO2. The rate of C4 product formation increases by a factor of 4.8 upon addition of EtOH to the feed of AcH over La-DeAlBEA, whereas that over La/SiO2 remains unchanged. Investigation of the mechanism and kinetics of AcH aldol condensation and EtOH-AcH conversion to 1,3-BD revealed two C-C bond forming pathways─AcH aldol condensation by Lewis acid La sites and direct coupling of EtOH-AcH over H-bonded (≡SiO)2La-OH···HO-Si≡ sites. This study provides important information about the role of the local environment of isolated Lewis acid sites and their effects on the direct coupling of EtOH and AcH to form 1,3-BD.

AbstractContext The Xihuang pill (XHP) is a traditional Chinese medicine formulation that has been historically used in the prevention and treatment of proliferative breast diseases. However, there is a lack of guidelines that offer recommendations for its clinical use.Objective The task force from the Chinese Guangdong Pharmaceutical Association aims to develop evidence-based guidelines for XHP to prevent and treat proliferative breast diseases.Methods We searched six Chinese and English electronic databases, including the China National Knowledge Infrastructure, the Chinese Scientific Journal Database, the Wanfang Medical Database, PubMed, and Embase, up to November 1, 2022. Publications (case reports, clinical observation, clinical trials, reviews) on using XHP to treat proliferative breast diseases were manually searched. The search terms were Xihuang pill, hyperplasia of the mammary gland, breast lump, and mastalgia. The writing team developed recommendations based on the best available evidence.Results Treatment should be customized based on syndrome identification. We recommend using XHP for the prevention and treatment of breast hyperplasia disease when a patient presents the following syndromes: concurrent blood stasis syndrome, concurrent phlegm-stasis syndrome, and concurrent liver fire syndrome. Safety indicators, including blood analysis and liver and kidney function monitoring, should be performed regularly during treatment.Conclusions Current clinical evidence suggests that XHP can be used as a standalone treatment or in conjunction with other medications to prevent and manage breast hyperplasia diseases. More randomized controlled studies are warranted to establish high-quality evidence of its use.

ABSTRACTBackground Vaccination remains the cornerstone of defense against COVID-19 globally. This study aims to assess the safety and immunogenicity profile of innovative vaccines LYB001.Research design and methods This was a randomized, double-blind, parallel-controlled trial, in 100 healthy Chinese adults (21 to 72 years old). Three doses of 30 or 60 µg of SARS-CoV-2 RBD-based VLP vaccine (LYB001), or the SARS-CoV-2 RBD-based protein subunit vaccine (ZF2001, control group) were administered with a 28-day interval. Differences in the incidence of adverse events (AEs) and indicators of humoral and cellular immunity among the different groups were measured.Results No severe adverse events were confirmed to be vaccine-related, and there was no significant difference in the rate of adverse events between the LYB001 and control group or the age subgroups (p > 0.05). The LYB001 groups had significantly higher or comparable levels of seroconversion rates, neutralization antibody, S protein-binding antibody, and cellular immunity after whole vaccination than the control group.Conclusions Our findings support that LYB001 developed on the VLP platform is safe and well tolerated with favorable immunogenicity for fundamental vaccination in healthy adults. Therefore, further larger-scale clinical studies are warranted.Trial Registration This trial was registered with ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT05552573).

Abstract Background Cardiac iron overload and ferroptosis greatly contribute to the poor prognosis of myocardial infarction (MI). Iron chelator is one of the most promising strategies for scavenging excessive iron and alleviating cardiac dysfunction post MI. However, various side effects of existing chemical iron chelators restrict their clinical application, which calls for a more viable and safer approach to protect against iron injury in ischemic hearts. Results In this study, we isolated macrophage-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) and identified macrophage-derived EVs as a novel endogenous biological chelator for iron. The administration of macrophage-derived EVs effectively reduced iron overload in hypoxia-treated cardiomyocytes and hearts post MI. Moreover, the oxidative stress and ferroptosis induced by excessive iron were considerably suppressed by application of macrophage-derived EVs. Mechanistically, transferrin receptor (TfR), which was inherited from macrophage to the surface of EVs, endowed EVs with the ability to bind to transferrin and remove excess protein-bound iron. EVs with TfR deficiency exhibited a loss of function in preventing MI-induced iron overload and protecting the heart from MI injury. Furthermore, the iron-chelating EVs were ultimately captured and processed by macrophages in the liver. Conclusions These results highlight the potential of macrophage-derived EVs as a powerful endogenous candidate for iron chelation therapy, offering a novel and promising therapeutic approach to protect against iron overload-induced injury in MI and other cardiovascular diseases.

Abstract Macrocyclic conformations play a crucial role in regulating their properties. Our understanding of the determinants to control macrocyclic conformation interconversion is still in its infancy. Here we present a macrocycle, octamethyl cyclo[4](1,3-(4,6)-dimethylbenzene)[4]((4,6-benzene)(1,3-dicarboxylate) (OC-4), that can exist at 298 K as two stable atropisomers with C 2v and C 4v symmetry denoted as C 2v - OC-4 and C 4v - OC-4, respectively. Heating induces the efficient stepwise conversion of C 2v - to C 4v - OC-4 via a C s -symmetric intermediate (C s -OC-4). It differs from the typical transition state-mediated processes of simple C–C single bond rotations. Hydrolysis and further esterification with a countercation dependence promote the generation of C 2v - and C s -OC-4 from C 4v - OC-4. In contrast to C 2v - OC-4, C 4v - OC-4 can bind linear guests to form pseudo-rotaxans, or bind C60 or C70 efficiently. The present study highlights the differences in recognition behavior that can result from conformational interconversion, as well as providing insights into the basic parameters that govern coupled molecular rotations.

Abstract Background The accuracy of traditional knee MR imaging in diagnosing anterior cruciate ligament tears, especially partial tears, is relatively low, which may lead to misdiagnosis and missed diagnosis. This study aimed to assess the diagnostic performance of a novel imaging method, high-resolution oblique coronal MRI at an optimal flexed-knee Angle, for ACL tears. Methods 50 healthy volunteers were scanned with a scan-assisted device for the optimal flexion angle of ACL. For 92 knee trauma patients selected strictly according to inclusion and exclusion criteria, conventional extended-knee scans (control group) and high-resolution oblique coronal scans based on the optimal flexed-knee angle (experimental group) were conducted. Two observers rated ACL visibility blindly on a 5-point scale. Arthroscopy-defined outcomes determined diagnostic metrics for each method and sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value and accuracy were calculated. Results The average optimal flexion angle for healthy volunteers was approximately 30° (30.3° ± 5.0°). Imaging demonstrated complete visualization of the ACL in 96.7% of images in the experimental group versus 12.0% in the control group. The diagnostic indicators of the experimental group surpassed those of the control group: sensitivity (94.9% vs. 76.3%), specificity (97.0% vs. 81.8%), positive predictive value (98.2% vs. 88.2%), negative predictive value(91.4% vs. 65.9%), and accuracy (95.7% vs. 78.3%). Abstract Background Logsplitter Injury is a type of high-energy ankle fracture dislocation. The mechanism of injury has not been described in detail. A detailed understanding of the radiological features and pathological changes can further guide treatment. Methods Between April 2009 and December 2018, a retrospective analysis was conducted on 62 patients with Logsplitter injury. The study analysed the characteristics of fibular injury, tibial injury, syndesmosis injury, medial injury and lateral ligament injury on preoperative X-ray and CT scans. The incidence of the different injury types was summarised. The correlation between Logsplitter injuries and the mechanisms causing them were analysed using the Lauge-Hansen classification of ankle fractures. Results The study provides data on the types of fractures observed. Of the total fractures, 98.4% were open fractures. The fibula injuries were classified as no fracture (1.6%), transverse or short oblique fractures (61.3%), butterfly fragments (25.8%), and comminuted fractures (11.3%). The tibial injuries included compression of lateral articular surfaces (38.7%) and posterior compressions (6.5%). Medial injuries, including medial malleolar fractures, accounted for 87.1%, and deltoid ligament rupture accounted for 12.9%. The study found that injuries to the syndesmosis consisted of simple ligament ruptures (11.3%), Tillaux fractures (8.1%), Volkmann fractures (43.5%), and Tillaux and Volkmann fractures (37.1%). In 12.9% of cases, there was a complete rupture of the lateral collateral ligament. Based on the Lauge-Hansen classification, 87.1% of injuries were pronation-abduction injuries, while 8.1% were pronation and external rotation injuries, and 1.6% were supination external rotation injuries. Furthermore, 3.2% of cases could not be classified. Conclusion The pathoanatomic characteristics of Logsplitter injury are diverse, with some cases accompanied by collateral ligament injury. It is important to note that these evaluations are objective and based on current results. The most common injury mechanism is vertical violence combined with abduction, although in some cases, it may be a vertical combined external-rotation injury. Level of evidence (4) case series. BackgroundWith the aging population, the prevalence and impact of osteoporosis are expected to rise, and existing anti-osteoporosis agents have limitations due to adverse events. This study aims to discover novel drug targets for osteoporosis.MethodsThe protein data were obtained from the latest proteome-wide association studies (PWAS) including 54, 219 participants. The osteoporosis data were extracted from a GWAS meta-analysis, characterized by heel bone mineral density (HBMD) comprising 426,824 individuals. Mendelian randomization (MR) was the primary approach used to establish genetic causality between specific traits. Summary-data-based MR (SMR), colocalization analysis, heterogeneity test, and external validation were applied to ensure the findings were reliable. The underlying mechanisms behind these causal associations were investigated by additional analyses. Finally, the druggability of the identified proteins was assessed.ResultsAfter Bonferroni correction, a total of 84 proteins were found to have a genetic association with osteoporosis. With strong colocalization evidence, proteins such as ACHE, HS6ST1, LRIG1, and LRRC37A2 were found to negatively influence HBMD, whereas CELSR2, CPE, FN1, FOXO1, and FSHB exhibited a positive association with HBMD. No significant heterogeneity was found. Additionally, CELSR2, FN1, FSHB, HS6ST1, LRIG1, and LRRC37A2 were replicated in the external validation. The effect of FSHB on HBMD was more pronounced in females compared to males. Interestingly, ACHE, LRIG1, FN1, and FOXO1 were observed to partially act on HBMD through BMI. Phewas analysis indicated that CPE and FOXO1 did not have genetic associations with any phenotypes other than osteoporosis. FN1 was highlighted as the most significant protein by protein-protein interaction network analysis.ConclusionIn conclusion, this study offers valuable insights into the role of specific proteins in the development of osteoporosis, and underscores potential therapeutic targets. Future studies should emphasize exploring these causal relationships and elucidating their underlying mechanisms.

ObjectiveTo evaluate the epidemiology characteristics of Herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2), Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection in children from January 2018 to December 2023, in Nanjing, China.MethodsWe conducted a retrospective analysis of 21,210, 49,494 and 32,457 outpatients and inpatients aged 1 day to 17 years who were subjected to the three herpesviruses (HSV-2, EBV, and CMV) nucleic acid testing from January 2018 to December 2023, respectively. Demographic information, laboratory findings, etc. were collected and analyzed. HSV-2, EBV and CMV nucleic acid testing were performed by real-time PCR.ResultsThe total rate of detection of the three herpesviruses for all specimens was 0.32% (67/21,210), 14.99% (7419/49,494), and 8.88% (2881/32,457), respectively. Previous studies have shown that the decoherence of environments generally negatively influences the quantum correlations in the Schwarzschild black hole. In our paper, we find that the decoherence of the generalized amplitude damping (GAD) channel has both positive and negative effects on the quantum coherence of Dirac fields, which means that the decoherence of environments can not only reduce the quantum coherence but also increase the quantum coherence in Schwarzschild spacetime. This result banishes the widespread belief that the decoherence of the environment can only destroy the quantum coherence in curved spacetime. Furthermore, another novel phenomenon has been observed for the first time: with increasing Hawking temperature T, the QFI of physically inaccessible modes rapidly decays from infinity to 0, which may provide a way to detect whether the particles enter the physically inaccessible region or not. This result may provide a new perspective for exploring and analyzing black holes.

Background: Identifying the factors influencing mental health of mothers at critical stages of childrearing is significant for the implementation of effective promotion policies and counselling activities. Objective: This study aimed to investigate the relationships between children's feeding difficulties, marital quality, parenting quality and maternal mental health risks amidst Chinese mothers with high and low social support using a multi-group structural equation modelling approach. Participants: A cross-sectional study was conducted in Wenzhou, China and a total of 772 mothers with children aged 0–3 were surveyed by using purposive sampling. Findings: Results showed that of the 772 participants, 23.6 % reported anxiety, 50.1 % reported depression, 91.2 % reported insomnia, and 24 % reported feeding difficulties. The joint occurrence of multiple forms of mental problems is the most commonly reported features of mental health risks among mothers. The positive association between feeding difficulties of children and mental health risks of mothers was mediated by marital quality and parenting quality. In addition, feeding difficulties were not related to mental health risks in high social support group but all the relationships were significant in low social support group. Conclusions: These findings highlight the importance of the specific interventions to enhance social support, marital quality and parenting quality for improving mental health of mothers of children with feeding difficulties.

ObjectiveThis study aims to assess the early to mid-term clinical efficacy of expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) trileaflet valved conduits in pediatric right ventricular outflow tract reconstruction for congenital heart disease.MethodsWe conducted a retrospective analysis of pediatric patients who underwent right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) reconstruction using ePTFE trileaflet valved conduits at two cardiac centers in China, between January 2017 and June 2023. The main assessment criterion was the functionality of the prosthetic pulmonary valve conduit.ResultsA total of 162 pediatric patients were included, with follow-up periods ranging from 0.1 to 5 years post-discharge, and a median follow-up duration of 1 year (interquartile range: 1, 2). Three patients (1.9%) required re-operation due to conduit obstruction. During follow-up, pulmonary valve flow velocities were recorded as 4 m/s in 4 patient (2.5%). Mild pulmonary valve regurgitation was noted in 148 patients (91.4%), and moderate pulmonary valve regurgitation was noted in 14 patients (8.6%), with no instances of more than moderate pulmonary valve regurgitation.ConclusionThe ePTFE trileaflet valved conduit, known for its accessibility and simplicity in manufacturing, demonstrates favorable early to mid-term clinical outcomes in pediatric RVOT reconstruction.

Gut microbiota acts as a critical regulator in the development of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), making probiotics a promise therapeutic strategy. Studies are needed to identify beneficial Bacteroides strains against NAFLD. Bacteroides ovatus (B. ovatus) may also exhibit therapy effect on NAFLD. The aim of this work was to evaluate the effect of B. ovatus on NAFLD and examine the mechanism. C57BL/6 J male mice were randomly divided into three groups: a control group (NCD) that received control standard diet, a model group (M) with high-fat and high-cholesterol (HFHC) diet, and M_Bo group that was fed HFFC supplemented with B. ovatus. Treatment with B. ovatus could reduce body weight, prevent hepatic steatohepatitis and liver injury. Mechanistically, B. ovatus induced changes of gut microbial diversity and composition, characterized by a decreased Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes (F/B) ratio in M_Bo group mice, a lower abundance of Proteobacteria, Verrucomicrobiota at phylum level and Ruminococcus_torques_group, Ruminococcus_gauvreauii_group, Erysipelatoclostridium at genus level, simultaneously a remarkablely higher fecal abundance of Lachnospiraceae_NK4A136_group, norank_f__Oscillospiraceae, Colidextribacter. Compared with M group, mice treated with B. ovatus showed an markedly altered fecal short chain fatty acids (SCFAs), a decline in serum levels of lipopolysaccharide (LPS), CD163, IL-1β, TNF-α, reduced macrophages in livers. Additionally, B. ovatus treatment caused downregulation of genes involved in denovo lipogenesis (such as Srebfl, Acaca, Scd1, Fasn), which was accompanied by the upregulation of genes related with fatty acid oxidation (such as Ppara). In conclusion, this study provides evidence that B. ovatus could ameliorate NAFLD by modulating the gut–liver axis.

Abstract Introduction Persistent nasal carriage has been associated with Staphylococcus aureus infection. Previous S. aureus studies in Asia have primarily focused on clinical patients, providing limited information on persistent nasal carriage among the general adult population. Methods This study examined 143 healthy adults in a community in Jiangsu, China. Nasal swab samples were collected 10 times. The colonization status was identified using SPA typing. We also determined antimicrobial susceptibility, genotype, and genomic characteristics of S. aureus. Results The prevalence of S. aureus nasal carriage among the community individuals was on average 16.78%. The carriage rates of methicillin-resistant S. aureus and multidrug-resistant S. aureus were 6.29% and 7.69%, respectively. We identified 8.39% persistent carriers, 39.16% intermittent carriers, and 52.45% noncarriers. Furthermore, family members displayed concordance in terms of genotype and genomic characteristics. Conclusion Persistent nasal sampling captured intermittent carriers that were missed during short-term sampling, thus highlighting the necessity for regular community testing. SPA typing can serve as a rapid method for determining S. aureus colonization. The potential for intrafamilial transmission of S. aureus is evident, with persistent carriers being the most probable source of infection.

Abstract Van der Waals (vdW) assembly of low-dimensional materials has proven the capability of creating structures with on-demand properties. It is predicted that the vdW encapsulation can induce a local high-pressure of a few GPa, which will strongly modify the structure and property of trapped materials. Here, we report on the structural collapse of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) induced by the vdW encapsulation. By simply covering CNTs with a hexagonal boron nitride flake, most of the CNTs (≈77%) convert from a tubular structure to a collapsed flat structure. Regardless of their original diameters, all the collapsed CNTs exhibit a uniform height of ≈0.7 nm, which is roughly the thickness of bilayer graphene. Such structural collapse is further confirmed by Raman spectroscopy, which shows a prominent broadening and blue shift in the Raman G-peak. The vdW encapsulation-induced collapse of CNTs is fully captured by molecular dynamics simulations of the local vdW pressure. Further near-field optical characterization reveals a metal-semiconductor transition in accompany with the CNT structural collapse. Our study provides not only a convenient approach to generate local high-pressure for fundamental research, but also a collapsed-CNT semiconductor for nanoelectronic applications.

Abstract Objective The association between heart failure (HF) and intestinal inflammation caused by a disturbed intestinal microbiota in infants with congenital heart disease (CHD) was investigated. Methods Twenty infants with HF and CHD who were admitted to our hospital between October 2021 and March 2022 were included in this study. Twenty age- and sex-matched infants without HF at our hospital were selected as the control group. Faecal samples were obtained from each participant and analysed by enzyme-linked immunoassay and 16 S rDNA sequencing to assess intestinal inflammatory factors and the microbiota. Results The levels of intestinal inflammatory factors, including IL-1β, IL-4, IL-6, IL-17 A and TNF-α, were greatly increased, while the levels of IL-10 were significantly decreased in the HF group compared to the control group (p

Subsurface drip irrigation in arid areas has the potential to replace traditional mulched drip irrigation to achieve green and sustainable cotton production. However, the suitable irrigation amount and frequency are still unclear, which seriously limits the ability of this model to improve water productivity and water-saving potential. Therefore, a field experiment was carried out from 2021 to 2023; a split plot experimental design was adopted with two irrigation amounts (W1, 3177 m3 ha−1; W2, 3840 m3 ha−1) and three irrigation frequencies (F1, 9; F2, 8; F3, 7). The effects of different irrigation strategies on the soil microenvironment, moisture content, biomass, and water use efficiency (WUE) of cotton organs were evaluated. The W2 treatment improved the soil moisture content, increased the soil temperature gradient, and reduced the soil conductivity, thereby increasing the moisture content and biomass of various organs. Moreover, compared with the F1 treatment, the F2 and F3 treatments were more likely to increase the soil moisture content, soil temperature gradient, WUEStem, WUELeaf and WUEBoll. In addition, the water consumption of the F2 and F3 treatments decreased by 3.9 % and 0.9 %, respectively, compared with that of the F1 treatment. These findings indicate that W2F2 can reduce water consumption while increasing boll biomass and WUEBoll. Further analysis revealed that under W2F2, WUEBoll was positively correlated with soil temperature gradient and soil conductivity and negatively correlated with leaf moisture content (LMC) and water consumption. In summary, with an irrigation amount of 3840 m3 ha−1, delaying the initial irrigation event and increasing the irrigation quota (8 irrigation events) improve the water environment in cotton fields, reducing soil temperature fluctuations and surface salt accumulation and synergistically increasing the boll biomass of cotton organs and WUEBoll. This irrigation strategy represents an effective cotton cultivation method to maximize cotton yield and improve resource utilization efficiency.

Background Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a frequent complication of severe acute pancreatitis (SAP). Previous investigations have revealed the involvement of FTO alpha-ketoglutarate-dependent dioxygenase (FTO) and aquaporin 3 (AQP3) in AKI. Therefore, the aim of this study is to explore the association of FTO and AQP3 on proximal tubular epithelial cell damage in SAP-induced AKI.Methods An in-vitro AKI model was established in human proximal tubular epithelial cells (PTECs) HK-2 via tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) induction (20 ng/mL), after which FTO and AQP3 expression was manipulated and quantified by quantitative real-time PCR and Western blotting. The viability and apoptosis of PTECs under various conditions, and reactive oxygen species (ROS), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and malonaldehyde (MDA) levels within these cells were measured using commercial assay kits and flow cytometry. Methylated RNA immunoprecipitation and mRNA stability assays were performed to elucidate the mechanism of FTO-mediated N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification. Western blotting was performed to quantify β-catenin protein levels in the PTECs.Results FTO overexpression attenuated the TNF-α-induced decrease in viability and SOD levels, elevated apoptosis, increased levels of ROS and MDA, and diminished TNF-α-induced AQP3 expression and reduced β-catenin expression, but its silencing led to contradictory results. FTO negatively modulates AQP3 levels in RTECs in an m6A-depednent manner and compromises AQP3 stability. In addition, all FTO overexpression-induced effects in TNF-α-induced PTECs were neutralized following AQP3 upregulation.Conclusion FTO alleviates TNF-α-induced damage to PTECs in vitro by targeting AQP3 in an m6A-dependent manner.

Abstract Organohalides are widespread pollutants that pose significant environmental hazards due to their high degree of halogenation and elevated redox potentials, making them resistant to natural attenuation. Traditional bioremediation approaches, primarily relying on bioaugmentation and biostimulation, often fall short of achieving complete detoxification. Furthermore, the emergence of complex halogenated pollutants, such as per‐ and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs), further complicates remediation efforts. Therefore, there is a pressing need to reconsider novel approaches for more efficient remediation of these recalcitrant pollutants. This review proposes novel redox‐potential‐mediated hybrid bioprocesses, tailored to the physicochemical properties of pollutants and their environmental contexts, to achieve complete detoxification of organohalides. The possible scenarios for the proposed bioremediation approaches are further discussed. In anaerobic environments, such as sediment and groundwater, microbial reductive dehalogenation coupled with fermentation and methanogenesis can convert organohalides into carbon dioxide and methane. In environments with anaerobic‐aerobic alternation, such as paddy soil and wetlands, a synergistic process involving reduction and oxidation can facilitate the complete mineralization of highly halogenated organic compounds. Future research should focus on in‐depth exploration of microbial consortia, the application of ecological principles‐guided strategies, and the development of bioinspired‐designed techniques. This paper contributes to the academic discourse by proposing innovative remediation strategies tailored to the complexities of organohalide pollution.

β2 adrenergic receptor (β2AR) is a G-protein-coupled receptor involved in cardiac protection. In chronic heart failure (CHF), persistent sympathetic nervous system activation occurs, resulting in prolonged β2AR activation and subsequent receptor desensitization and downregulation. Notoginsenoside R1 (NGR1) has the functions of enhancing myocardial energy metabolism and mitigating myocardial fibrosis. The mechanisms of NGR1 against ischemic heart failure are unclear. A left anterior descending (LAD) artery ligation procedure was performed on C57BL/6 J mice for four weeks. From the 4th week onwards, they were treated with various doses (3, 10, 30 mg/kg/day) of NGR1. Subsequently, the impacts of NGR1 on ischemic heart failure were evaluated by assessing cardiac function, morphological changes in cardiac tissue, and the expression of atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) and beta-myosin heavy chain (β-MHC). H9c2 cells were protected by NGR1 when exposed to OGD/R conditions. H9c2 cells were likewise protected from OGD/R damage by NGR1. Furthermore, NGR1 increased β2AR levels and decreased β2AR ubiquitination. Mechanistic studies revealed that NGR1 enhanced MDM2 protein stability and increased the expression of MDM2 and β-arrestin2 while inhibiting their interaction. Additionally, under conditions produced by OGD/R, the protective benefits of NGR1 on H9c2 cells were attenuated upon administration of the MDM2 inhibitor SP141. According to these findings, NGR1 impedes the interplay between β-arrestin2 and MDM2, thereby preventing the ubiquitination and degradation of β2AR to improve CHF.

We investigate the amplification of the genuine tripartite nonlocality (GTN) and the genuine tripartite entanglement (GTE) of Dirac particles in the background of a Schwarzschild black hole by a local filtering operation under decoherence. It is shown that the physically accessible GTN will be completely destroyed by decoherence, and the local filtering operation can cause the physically accessible GTN to be generated in the system coupled with the environment, which has not been discovered before and is beneficial for quantum information processing. Furthermore, we also find that the physically accessible GTE approaches a stable value in the limit of infinite Hawking temperature for most cases, and the nonzero stable value of GTE can be increased by performing the local filtering operation, even in the presence of decoherence. In particular, if the decoherence parameter p is less than 1, the “sudden death” of GTE will take place when the decoherence strength is large enough. Finally, we have shown that physically inaccessible GTE can be enhanced with the operation of the local filter, whereas inaccessible GTN are not allowed to occur in the presence of decoherence.

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a prevalent chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), which is related to the occurrence of inflammation and intestinal flora disorder. Centipeda minima (L.) A. Braun & Asch. (CM for short hereafter) is commonly used to treat IBD in folk medicine. However, the anti-UC mechanisms of CM and its representative active compound(s) are not yet fully understood. Here, we sought to investigate the mode of action and the underlying mechanism of CM as an anti-UC agent, as well as to identify its potential bioactive compound(s). Results showed that 50% ethanol extract of CM (CME) significantly improved the pathological morphology and reduced the protein levels of NLRP3 both in DSS-induced UC mice model and lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated RAW264.7 cell model. Additionally, it decreased the release of proinflammatory cytokines including TNF-α, IL-18 and IL-1β. These results suggest that the anti-UC effect of CM is at least partially attributed to the inhibition of NLRP3 inflammasome activation. Furthermore, luteolin, a representative active compound in CM, exhibited significant improvement of the pathological changes, reduced the release the of proinflammatory cytokines, downregulated NLRP3 inflammasome activation, enhanced intestinal barrier, and modulated gut microbiota in vivo. This study provides a molecular rationale for the traditional use of CM in treating UC, and offers a pharmacological basis for the development of modern anti-UC agents derived from CM.

This paper presents a method for accurately controlling the position of the zero optical path difference in the transformation process from interferogram of Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometer to spectrogram. This position has a significant impact on the position, consistency, and repeatability of spectral lines in restored spectrograms. The proposed method, known as the double-slit photoelectric aiming and triggering method (DS-PATM), can be used to precisely control the zero optical path difference position, as well as the starting and ending positions of sampling, thereby ensuring identical optical path difference in the spectrometer system. The working principle of DS-PATM is elaborated in detail, followed by a description of the optical structure of the photoelectric aiming detector and the photoelectric aiming trigger circuit. Subsequently, a displacement detection system of the spectrometer moving mirror is developed. The system is experimentally validated through displacement aiming and triggering experiments of the moving mirror of the FTIR spectrometer, conducted under standard measurement environment. The results demonstrate that using the proposed method, the standard deviation of zero optical path difference position can be measured with a confidence probability (math.) of 99.7% and a resolution of 0.1 cm−1 for Fourier transform spectrometer, yielding a value of 0.08 μm. This confirms the effectiveness of the detection system and its ability to meet the requirements of sampling interferogram with high resolution.
