This is an article in the field of mineral processing engineering. The main valuable elements in a lead-zinc mine in Hebei are lead and zinc, with grades of 1.07% and 2.08%, respectively. Lead in the ore mainly occurs in sulfide galena, and lead-containing minerals such as galena, lead sulfate and lead jarosite. Zinc mainly occurs in sulfide sphalerite, accounting for 66.96% of the total zinc, followed by zinc oxide minerals, with high zinc oxidation rate. In the experimental study, the process of preferential flotation of lead and then zinc at the condition of grinding fineness of -200 mesh content of 65% was determined. The yield of lead concentrate is 1.74%, the grades of lead, zinc and copper in lead concentrate are 51.73%, 10.86% and 3.81%, respectively, and the recoveries are 83.93%, 8.98% and 68.20%, respectively. The yield of zinc concentrate is 2.26%, the grades of lead, zinc and copper in zinc concentrate are 1.25%, 51.64% and 0.73%, respectively, and the recoveries are 2.63%, 55.42% and 16.97%, respectively.

Abstract Background IDH1-wildtype glioblastoma multiforme (IDHwt-GBM) is a highly heterogeneous and aggressive brain tumour characterised by a dismal prognosis and significant challenges in accurately predicting patient outcomes. To address these issues and personalise treatment approaches, we aimed to develop and validate robust multiomics molecular subtypes of IDHwt-GBM. Through this, we sought to uncover the distinct molecular signatures underlying these subtypes, paving the way for improved diagnosis and targeted therapy for this challenging disease. Methods To identify stable molecular subtypes among 184 IDHwt-GBM patients from TCGA, we used the consensus clustering method to consolidate the results from ten advanced multiomics clustering approaches based on mRNA, lncRNA, and mutation data. We developed subtype prediction models using the PAM and machine learning algorithms based on mRNA and MRI data for enhanced clinical utility. These models were validated in five independent datasets, and an online interactive system was created. We conducted a comprehensive assessment of the clinical impact, drug treatment response, and molecular associations of the IDHwt-GBM subtypes. Results In the TCGA cohort, two molecular subtypes, class 1 and class 2, were identified through multiomics clustering of IDHwt-GBM patients. There was a significant difference in survival between Class 1 and Class 2 patients, with a hazard ratio (HR) of 1.68 [1.15–2.47]. This difference was validated in other datasets (CGGA: HR = 1.75[1.04, 2.94]; CPTAC: HR = 1.79[1.09–2.91]; GALSS: HR = 1.66[1.09–2.54]; UCSF: HR = 1.33[1.00–1.77]; UPENN HR = 1.29[1.04–1.58]). Additionally, class 2 was more sensitive to treatment with radiotherapy combined with temozolomide, and this sensitivity was validated in the GLASS cohort. Correspondingly, class 2 and class 1 exhibited significant differences in mutation patterns, enriched pathways, programmed cell death (PCD), and the tumour immune microenvironment. Abstract The COVID-19 pandemic has created significant challenges to the global economy, especially within the tourism industry. Economic downturns and psychological barriers make it even more challenging to attract tourists back. This paper explores the stimulating effect of digital travel vouchers on tourist mobility, as well as the heterogeneous effects of different vouchers modes. Using monthly data on tourist inflows in 306 cities from September 2020 to December 2021, collected by a web-crawling tool, and manually gathered information of digital travel vouchers issued during this period, our analyses show that digital travel vouchers can boost tourist inflows. Their effectiveness, however, depends on the method of issuance and the total number distributed. Furthermore, significant spillover effects among neighboring cities are found through a spatial econometric model.

Abstract Uterine leiomyoma invading internal iliac vein and consequently disseminating into the right atrium is an extremely rare condition, and surgical strategy is controversial. Here, we reported a specific case with successful surgical resection through one-stage total hysterectomy, bilateral oophorectomy, and the intracardiovascular lesion. This procedure would be an optimal choice for uterine leiomyoma invading inferior vena cava and spreading to right atrium.

Abstract Accurately predicting prognosis subcutaneous leiomyosarcoma (LMS) is crucial for guiding treatment decisions in patients. The objective of this study was to develop prediction models for cancer-specific survival (CSS) in patients with subcutaneous LMS. The collected cases of diagnosed subcutaneous LMS were randomly divided into a training cohort and a validation cohort at a 6:4 ratio based on tumor location and histological code. The X-tile program was utilized to determine the optimal cutoff points for age index. Univariate and Cox multivariate regression analyses were conducted to identify independent risk factors for subcutaneous LMS patients. Nomograms were constructed to predict CSS, and their performance was assessed using C-index and calibration plots. Additionally, a decision tree model was established using recursive partitioning analysis to determine the total score for CSS prediction in subcutaneous LMS patients based on the nomogram model. A total of 1793 patients with subcutaneous LMS were found. X-tile software divides all patients into ≤ 61 years old, 61–82 years old, and ≥ 82 years old. The most important anatomical sites were the limbs (including the upper and lower limbs, 48.0%). Only 6.2% of patients received chemotherapy, while 44% had a history of radiotherapy and 92.9% underwent surgery. The independent risk factors for patients with subcutaneous LMS were age, summary stage, grade, and surgery. Extreme climate events have become more frequent and have had serious impacts on the global community. Consequently, the risk associated with climate change has gained increasing attention and has been considered as a new source of risk factors. To understand the socio-economic impacts of this new risk, systematically measuring risk around the world is critical for researchers and policymakers. Building on daily observations from meteorological stations, a Climate Physical Risk Index (CPRI) dataset is constructed for 170 countries, paying special attention to four extreme climate events: extreme low temperature (LTD), extreme high temperature (HTD), extreme rainfall (ERD), and extreme drought (EDD). A comprehensive index of climate physical risk for each country has also been constructed, covering the period from 1993 to 2023. The dataset will be updated regularly. Subnational indices or more detailed regional indices are available upon request.

Traditional simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) methodologies predominantly rely on the assumption of a static environment. This constraint limits the applicability of most visual SLAM systems in various real-world scenarios. In this paper, we introduce a real-time semantic visual SLAM algorithm tailored for complex dynamic environments (DRV-SLAM). DRV-SLAM leverages image analysis to identify potential moving objects and determine their current motion states. By dynamically adjusting the rejection of unreliable dynamic feature points based on the proportion of potential moving objects in the environment, DRV-SLAM significantly enhances the system’s localization accuracy and robustness in complex dynamic environments. Additionally, DRV-SLAM employs a dense mapping approach that combines global downsampling and targeted object data enhancement. This method effectively reduces the memory footprint of dense point cloud maps, enabling DRV-SLAM to efficiently construct large-scale dense point cloud maps in diverse scenarios. Experimental results show that in a highly dynamic environment, the DRV-SLAM algorithm shows an order of magnitude performance improvement compared to the traditional ORB-SLAM2 algorithm. The performance index of absolute trajectory error is significantly improved by more than 98%, and DRV-SLAM is currently one of the most real-time, accurate and robust systems for dynamic scenes.

Abstract Greenwashing behaviors (GWBs) in green finance products (GFPs) by enterprises seriously hinder the realization of environmental protection goals. However, methods for effectively regulating GWBs in GFPs are unclear. This study constructed a tripartite evolutionary game model to analyze the formation and governance mechanisms of GWBs in GFPs among regulatory authorities, enterprises, and investors. Subsequently, the stability equilibrium strategy and key factors influencing the system equilibrium were discussed. Several interesting conclusions were drawn. First, we demonstrated that an interdependence mechanism exists among three game agents who mutually influence each other. The larger the probability of regulatory authorities choosing active supervision and investors adopting feedback, the more enterprises are willing to carry out green projects. Second, three corresponding governance modes for GWBs were put forward following the developmental stages of GFPs. Among these, the collaboration mode is the most effective in incentivizing enterprises to implement green projects. Third, based on sensitivity simulations, the initial willingness of the tripartite stakeholders, investor feedback cost, investor compensation, the penalty for greenwashing enterprises, and the reputational benefit of enterprises are critical factors that influence evolutionary results. Finally, targeted countermeasures were provided for regulatory authorities to prevent enterprises from engaging in GWBs.

Abstract Using unbalanced panel data on 3326 Chinese listed companies from 2014 to 2021, this study investigates the impact of corporate environmental performance on China’s excess stock returns. The results show that stocks of companies with better environmental performance earn significantly higher excess returns, indicating the existence of green returns in the Chinese stock market. We further reveal that heightened climate-change concerns can boost the stock market’s green returns, while tightened climate policies decrease green returns by increasing long-term carbon risk. Our findings are robust to endogeneity problems and hold great implications for both investors and policymakers.

Abstract Introduction The left partial anomalous pulmonary vein connection is a rare congenital heart disease, especially with intact atrial septum. Now we reported a case of the left superior pulmonary vein drainage to left innominate vein through a vertical vein, and corrected with video assisted thoracoscopy. Case presentation A-59-years old man diagnosed left anomalous partial pulmonary vein connection with presentation of short breathiness and palpation, and diagnosed with computer tomography pulmonary angiography. The operation was carried out under video assisted thoracoscopy with one manipulation incision and one observational incision, the vertical vein was dissected and anastomosis with left atrial appendage. The patients recovered smoothly and postoperative CTPA showed anastomosis ostium was unobstructed. Conclusion The left lateral thoracotomy and video assisted thoracoscopic surgery is a feasible for correction of left PAPVC with intact interatrial septum without using CPB.

Abstract Lung cancer (LCa), the most frequent malignancy worldwide, causes millions of mortalities each year. Overexpression of the long noncoding RNA MIR210HG in LCa has been established; however, a more comprehensive investigation into its biological role within LCa is imperative. This study aimed to validate the MIR210H levels in LCa tissues and cells. The expression of indicated genes was evaluated using quantitative real‐time polymerase chain reaction (qRT‐PCR) and/or Western blotting. The viability, proliferation, migration, and invasion of LCa cells were measured using the 3‐(4,5‐Dimethylthiazol‐2‐yl)‐2,5‐diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT), colony formation, wound healing, and transwell assays, respectively. The methylation levels of LCa cells were determined via methylation‐specific PCR; additionally, chromatin immunoprecipitation or RNA immunoprecipitation assays were performed to determine the targeting relationship between DNA methyltransferase 1 (DNMT1) and the SH3‐domain containing CRB2 like 3 (SH3GL3) promoters and the interaction between DNMT1 and MIR210HG, respectively. Our findings revealed the upregulation of MIR210HG, coupled with a diminished expression of SH3GL3 in LCa tissues and cells. Knockdown of MIR210HG or overexpression of SH3GL3 suppressed the proliferative, migratory, and invasive capacities of the cells. DNMT1 bound to the SH3GL3 promoter region, and MIR210HG inhibited the transcription of SH3GL3 by recruiting DNMT1. These findings indicate that MIR210HG facilitates LCa cell growth and metastasis by repressing SH3GL3 transcription via the recruitment of DNMT1 to the SH3GL3 promoter region.

Abstract Climate policies can have a significant impact on the economy. However, these policies have often been associated with uncertainty. Quantitative assessment of the socioeconomic impact of climate policy uncertainty is equally or perhaps more important than looking at the policies themselves. Using a deep learning algorithm—the MacBERT model—this study constructed indices of Chinese climate policy uncertainty (CCPU) at the national, provincial and city levels for the first time. The CCPU indices are based on the text mining of news published by a set of major newspapers in China. A clear upward trend was found in the indices, demonstrating increasing policy uncertainties in China in addressing climate change. There is also evidence of clear regional heterogeneity in subnational indices. The CCPU dataset can provide a useful source of information for government actors, academics and investors in understanding the dynamics of climate policies in China. These indices can also be used to investigate the empirical relationship between climate policy uncertainty and other socioeconomic factors in China.

Abstract Introduction Parameters, such as left ventricular ejection fraction, peak strain dispersion, global longitudinal strain, etc. are influential and clinically interpretable for detection of cardiac disease, while manual detection requires laborious steps and expertise. In this study, we evaluated a video-based deep learning method that merely depends on echocardiographic videos from four apical chamber views of hypertensive cardiomyopathy detection. Methods One hundred eighty-five hypertensive cardiomyopathy (HTCM) patients and 112 healthy normal controls (N) were enrolled in this diagnostic study. We collected 297 de-identified subjects’ echo videos for training and testing of an end-to-end video-based pipeline of snippet proposal, snippet feature extraction by a three-dimensional (3-D) convolutional neural network (CNN), a weakly-supervised temporally correlated feature ensemble, and a final classification module. The snippet proposal step requires a preliminarily trained end-systole and end-diastole timing detection model to produce snippets that begin at end-diastole, and involve contraction and dilatation for a complete cardiac cycle. A domain adversarial neural network was introduced to systematically address the appearance variability of echo videos in terms of noise, blur, transducer depth, contrast, etc. to improve the generalization of deep learning algorithms. In contrast to previous image-based cardiac disease detection architectures, video-based approaches integrate spatial and temporal information better with a more powerful 3D convolutional operator. Results Our proposed model achieved accuracy (ACC) of 92%, area under receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve (AUC) of 0.90, sensitivity(SEN) of 97%, and specificity (SPE) of 84% with respect to subjects for hypertensive cardiomyopathy detection in the test data set, and outperformed the corresponding 3D CNN (vanilla I3D: ACC (0.90), AUC (0.89), SEN (0.94), and SPE (0.84)). On the whole, the video-based methods remarkably appeared superior to the image-based methods, while few evaluation metrics of image-based methods exhibited to be more compelling (sensitivity of 93% and negative predictive value of 100% for the image-based methods (ES/ED and random)). Conclusion The results supported the possibility of using end-to-end video-based deep learning method for the automated diagnosis of hypertensive cardiomyopathy in the field of echocardiography to augment and assist clinicians. Abstract Long intergenic nonprotein coding RNA 2015 (LINC02015) is a long non-coding RNA that has been found elevated in various cell proliferation-related diseases. However, the functions and interactive mechanism of LINC02015 remain unknown. This study aimed to explore the role of LINC02015 in the cell proliferation and apoptosis of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) to explain the pathogenesis of aortic diseases. Ascending aorta samples and angiotensin-II (AT-II) treated primary human aortic VSMCs (HAVSMCs) were used to evaluate the LINC02015 expression. RNA sequencing, chromatin isolation by RNA purification sequencing, RNA pull-down, and mass spectrometry (MS) were applied to explore the potential interacting mechanisms. LINC02015 expression was found elevated in aortic dissection and AT-II-treated HAVSMCs. Cell proliferation and cell cycle were activated in HAVSMCs with LINC02015 knockdown. The cyclins family and caspase family were found to participate in regulating the cell cycle and apoptosis via the NF-κB signaling pathway. RXRA was discovered as a possible hub gene for LINC02015 transcriptional regulating networks. Besides, the protein interaction network of LINC02015 was revealed with candidate regulating molecules. It was concluded that the knockdown of LINC02015 could promote cell proliferation and inhibit the apoptosis of HAVSMCs through an RXRA-related transcriptional regulation network, which could provide a potential therapeutic target for aortic diseases.

We propose a multimode fiber laser sensor utilizing PI-SMF (polyimide-coated single mode fiber) for low-error relative humidity (RH) measurement, which is temperature compensated based on FBG. The PI-SMF in the laser cavity is used as a sensing element, and its length varies with humidity and temperature by volume-variation induced strain, which leads to frequency shift of the longitudinal mode beat frequency signal (BFS). When the 2000 MHz BFS is selected as the sensing signal, a RH sensitivity of −2.68 kHz/%RH and a temperature sensitivity of −14.05 kHz/°C are achieved. The peak shift of the FBG-based laser emission spectrum is only sensitive to temperature rather than RH with a temperature sensitivity of 9.95 pm/°C, which is used as the temperature compensation for RH measurements. By monitoring the response of the BFS and the laser wavelength, the cross-sensitivity effect of RH and temperature is overcome, and low-error RH measurement in the temperature range of 20 to 65 °C is realized with errors within ±0.67 %RH (25 to 85 %RH). The scheme does not require the design and production of complex structures and hygroscopic material coating processes, owning the advantages of simple structure, easy operation and high accuracy, and is expected to be practically applied in food safety and environmental monitoring.

This paper delivers an examination of relative permeability hysteresis in porous media in the field of petroleum engineering, encompassing mathematical modeling, experimental studies, and their practical implications. It explores two-phase and three-phase models, elucidating the generation of scanning curves and their applications in various porous materials. Building on the research of traditional relative permeability hysteresis models, we have incorporated literature on forward calculations of relative permeability based on digital rock core models. This offers a new perspective for studying the hysteresis effect in relative permeability. Additionally, it compiles insights from direct relative permeability and flow-through experiments, accentuating the methodologies and key findings. With a focus on enhanced oil recovery (EOR), carbon capture, utilization and sequestration (CCUS), and hydrogen storage applications, the paper identifies existing research voids and proposes avenues for future inquiry, laying the groundwork for advancing recovery techniques in oil and gas sectors.

BackgroundClinically amyopathic dermatomyositis (CADM) is a distinct subtype of dermatomyositis (DM) characterized by typical DM cutaneous findings but with minimal or no evidence of myositis. It possesses unique features different from classic DM (CDM). Anti-melanoma differentiation-associated gene 5 (MDA5) antibodies were found in CADM and are thought to increase the risk of rapidly progressive interstitial lung disease (RP-ILD) and are present in both CADM and CDM patients, affecting their condition and prognosis. Nevertheless, no large-sample studies have compared all aspects concerning patients with CADM and those with CDM. This study aimed to investigate differences in clinical characteristics and risk factors for mortality between CADM and CDM and to clarify the distribution and impact of anti-MDA5 antibodies in patients with these conditions.MethodsA retrospective case-control study included 330 patients and collected and analyzed their clinical data from The First Affiliated Hospital of Shandong First Medical University and Shandong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine between January 2015 and July 2022; all patients were followed up to evaluate changes in their condition and prognosis. Several new cohorts were designed around anti-MDA5 antibodies to explore their distribution and impact in CADM and CDM.ResultsWe found CADM to be associated with higher rates of mortality, 1-year mortality, interstitial lung disease (ILD), and RP-ILD than CDM. In CADM, RP-ILD, anti-MDA5 antibodies, and high ferritin and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) levels were identified as independent risk factors for death. In CDM, the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, anti-MDA5 antibodies, and high ferritin levels were shown to be independent risk factors for death, whereas mechanic’s hand was considered a protective factor against it. Anti-MDA5 antibody-positive patients did not exhibit any significant difference based on whether they belonged to the CADM or CDM groups. When no anti-MDA5 antibody-positive patients participated, the ferritin levels and rates of RP-ILD and ILD were still higher in CADM than in CDM; however, such differences decreased, whereas the LDH levels, rates of mortality, and 1-year mortality did not differ. Anti-MDA5 antibody-positive patients consistently showed higher LDH and ferritin levels, lower lymphocyte levels, higher probability of RP-ILD and ILD, and worse prognosis than anti-MDA5 antibody-negative patients, irrespective of whether the patients had DM, CADM, or CDM.ConclusionPatients with CADM exhibit relatively worse symptoms, serological findings, and prognosis than those with CDM. Furthermore, patients with CADM and those with CDM have commonalities and differences in risk factors for death. Moreover, CADM may necessitate earlier and more aggressive treatment strategies than CDM. Anti-MDA5 antibodies occur at a high level in patients with CADM, not only affecting the symptoms and prognosis of DM but also having a non-negligible impact on the differences between CADM and CDM. Hence, screening for anti-MDA5 antibodies in patients with CADM and CDM is extremely essential.

Abstract Background Measuring stem diameter (SD) is a crucial foundation for forest resource management, but current methods require expert personnel and are time-consuming and costly. In this study, we proposed a novel device and method for automatic SD measurement using an image sensor and a laser module. Firstly, the laser module generated a spot on the tree stem that could be used as reference information for measuring SD. Secondly, an end-to-end model was performed to identify the trunk contour in the panchromatic image from the image sensor. Finally, SD was calculated from the linear relationship between the trunk contour and the spot diameter in pixels. Results We conducted SD measurements in three natural scenarios with different land cover types: transitional woodland/shrub, mixed forest, and green urban area. The SD values varied from 2.00 cm to 89.00 cm across these scenarios. Compared with the field tape measurements, the SD data measured by our method showed high consistency in different natural scenarios. The absolute mean error was 0.36 cm and the root mean square error was 0.45 cm. Our integrated device is low cost, portable, and without the assistance of a tripod. Compared to most studies, our method demonstrated better versatility and exhibited higher performance. Conclusion Our method achieved the automatic, efficient and accurate measurement of SD in natural scenarios. In the future, the device will be further explored to be integrated into autonomous mobile robots for more scenarios.

Abstract Background Up to 85% of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cases in China can be attributed to infection of hepatitis B virus (HBV). Lipid metabolism performs important function in hepatocarcinogenesis of HBV–related liver carcinoma. However, limited studies have explored the prognostic role of lipid metabolism in HBV–related HCC. This study established a prognostic model to stratify HBV–related HCC based on lipid metabolisms. Methods Based on The Cancer Genome Atlas HBV–related HCC samples, this study selected prognosis-related lipid metabolism genes and established a prognosis risk model by performing uni- and multi-variate Cox regression methods. The final markers used to establish the model were selected through the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator method. Analysis of functional enrichment, immune landscape, and genomic alteration was utilized to investigate the inner molecular mechanism involved in prognosis. Abstract Background It is important to determine the severity of inhalation injury in severely burned patients. The oxygenation index PaO2/FiO2(PF) ratio is a key clinical indicator of inhalation injury. Sequential organ failure assessment (SOFA) is developed to assess the acute incidence of critical illness in the population. We hope to provide an assessment of survival or prognostic factor for severely burned patients with inhalation injury based on the respiratory SOFA score. Methods This is a retrospective cohort study of all admissions to Department of Burn and Plastic Surgery at West China Hospital of Sichuan University from July 2010 to March 2021. Data was analyzed using Cox regression models to determine significant predictors of mortality. Survival analysis with time to death event was performed using the Kaplan–Meier survival curve with the log-rank test. All potential risk factors were considered independent variables, while survival was considered the risk dependent variable. Results One hundred eighteen severe burn patients with inhalation injury who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were admitted, including men accounted for 76.3%. The mean age and length of stay were 45.9 (14.8) years and 44.3 (38.4) days. Flame burns are the main etiology of burn (74.6%). Patients with the respiratory SOFA score greater than 2 have undergone mechanical ventilation. Univariate Kaplan–Meier analysis identified age, total body surface area burned (TBSA), ICU admission and the respiratory SOFA score as significant factors on survival. In order to give full play to the economic application value of Xinjiang Apocynum venetum and reduce the environmental pollution caused by the traditional chemical degumming process, a combination of biological and chemical method is used to degum Apocynum venetum. The orthogonal test method is used to explore the optimal parameters for the degumming process. The surface morphology, crystallinity, fineness, strength, moisture regain, and spinnability index of the fibers are tested after degumming. The results showed that after degumming, the fiber fineness was 4.97 dtex, the strength was 22.84 cN/dtex, the crystallinity was 74.5%, the moisture regain reached 7.7380%, and the spinnability was good.

Background: Numerous studies have examined the therapeutic effects of mitral valve repair during revascularization on moderate ischemic mitral regurgitation (IMR), as well as the incremental benefit of subvalvular repair alongside an annuloplasty ring. We examine the impact of the global economic activity, oil supply, oil-specific consumption demand, and oil inventory demand shocks on the expected aggregate skewness of the United States (US) economy, obtained based on a data-rich environment involving 211 macroeconomic and financial variables in the quarterly period of 1975:Q1 to 2022:Q2. We find that positive oil supply and global economic activity shocks increase the expected macroeconomic skewness in a statistically significant way, with the effects being relatively more pronounced in the lower regime of the aggregate skewness factor, i.e., when the US is witnessing downside risks. Interestingly, oil-specific consumption demand and oil inventory demand shocks contain no predictive ability for the overall expected skewness. With skewness being a metric for policymakers to communicate their beliefs about the path of future risks, our results have important implications for policy decisions.

Background: The activation of HIF-1α/CXCR4 pathway in liver sinusoidal endothelial cells (LSECs) could downregulate CXCR7, leading to the capillarization of LSECs to promote hepatic fibrosis. However, the mechanism between CXCR4 and CXCR7 is still undefined. The aim is to investigate the role of PDGF-BB in the dedifferentiation of LSECs and hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) activation. Methods: The activation of HIF-1α/CXCR4 pathway in two kinds of liver fibrosis models were observed. The effects of HIF-1α, CXCR4, PDGF-BB on the dedifferentiation of LSECs were investigated by using the inhibitors of HIF-1α, CXCR4 or PDGFR-β separately or transfecting with a CXCR4 knockdown lentiviral vector. In addition, the relationship between LSECs and HSCs was demonstrated by co-culture of LSECs and HSCs using the transwell chamber. Results: CXCR4 upregulation and CXCR7 downregulation were accompanied by LSECs capillarization and HSCs activation both in CCl4-induced and BDL-induced fibrotic liver. In vitro, downregulation of HIF-1α significantly descreased CXCR4 and CD31 expression, and enhanced the expressions of CXCR7, CD44 and LYVE1. Downregulation of CXCR4 in LSECs significantly downregulated PDGF-BB, PDGFR-β and CD31, and enhanced CXCR7, CD44 and LYVE1 expression, while the expression of HIF-1α did not change significantly. STI571, a PDGF receptor inhibitor, could significantly downregulate PDGFR-β and increase the expression of CXCR7 to inhibit the dedifferentiation of LSECs. In addition, alleviateion the dedifferentiation of LSECs could decrease the expression of PDGFR-β of HSCs, then inhibiting the activation of HSCs. Conclusions: This study revealed that HIF-1α/CXCR4/PDGF-BB/CXCR7 axis promoted the dedifferentiation of LSECs, consequently triggering HSCs activation and liver fibrosis.

In this study, an enclosed cooling slope channel (ECSC) was used to produce a semi-solid slurry of the 7075 aluminum alloy. The effects of the pouring temperature and the rate of cooling water on the microstructure of the semi-solid slurry were studied. The microstructure, solidification behavior, mechanical properties, and fracture mechanism of rheological squeeze casting (Rheo-SC) and liquid squeeze casting (LSC) samples were compared. The results indicate that lowering the pouring temperature and increasing the rate of cooling water can refine the crystals of the semi-solid slurry. The best process is a pouring temperature of 670 °C and a rate of cooling water of 200 L/h. The microstructure of the LSC samples was made up of coarse dendritic crystals, but the microstructure of the Rheo-SC samples was made up of almost spherical primary α1-Al and refined secondary α2-Al under this method. The ultimate tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation of the Rheo-SC samples were 238 MPa, 151 MPa, and 5.2%, respectively, which were 10%, 10.5%, and 44.4% higher than those of the LSC sample. The key factor contributing to the increased performance of the Rheo-SC samples is the combination of decreased casting flaws, strengthened grain refinement, and improved segregation.

A frequency comb generator (FCG) based on dual-cavity Brillouin random fiber lasing oscillation in the 1.5 μm telecon spectral window is established and experimentally demonstrated. In the half-open main cavity of the dual cavity, the stimulated Brillouin scattering in highly nonlinear fiber (HNLF) and Rayleigh scattering in single-mode fiber are employed to provide sufficient Brillouin gain and the randomly distributed feedback, respectively, for random mode resonance. The sub-cavity includes an Er-doped fiber amplifier to couple back and boost lower-order Stokes and anti-Stokes light for the cascade of stimulated Brillouin scattering to generate multiple higher-order Stokes and anti-Stokes light. Meanwhile, efficient four-wave mixing is stimulated in the HNLF-based main cavity, further enhancing the number and intensity of the resonant Stokes and anti-Stokes light. By taking advantages of the unique transmission characteristics of nonlinear optical loop mirrors, the power deviation between Stokes and anti-Stokes lines is further optimized with 17 orders of stable Stokes lines and 15 orders of stable anti-Stokes lines achieved within the 10 dB power deviation, with maximum optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) of ~22 dB and ~17 dB and minimum OSNR of ~10 dB and ~7.5 dB for Stokes and anti-Stokes lines, respectively. In addition, the dynamic characteristics of the proposed FCG have been experimentally investigated. Such an FCG with fixed frequency spacing will find promising applications in fields of optical communication, microwave, optical sensing, etc.

Abstract The quality of green leafy vegetables is easily lost during the postharvest period. The effect of exogenous 24‐epibrassinolide (EBR) pretreatment on the quality of wucai was evaluated in the present study. Wucai plants were sprayed twice with 0.1 μM EBR before harvesting. Two storage temperatures were tested: 25°C and 4°C. At 4°C, EBR pretreatment significantly delayed the degradation of the pigment and plant water loss. Furthermore, we measured the activity of key enzymes of the ascorbic acid (AsA)‐glutathione (GSH) cycle, the content of the main metabolites, and the expression of the AsA metabolism‐related genes in leaves. The results indicated that all three plants showed stronger antioxidant capacity after EBR pretreatment. At 4°C and 25°C, the storage time of wucai was 20 days and 7 days after EBR treatment, while the samples could be stored for 14 days and 4 days without EBR treatment application, respectively. At 4°C, the nutritional properties of wucai pretreated with EBR, such as total free amino acids, total soluble sugar, and cellulose contents, were higher than those of the control, while the content of nitrite and lignin was lower than that of the control. Hence, EBR pretreatment was able to enhance the antioxidant capacity of wucai, maintain normal leaf color and shape during storage, and delay the decline of nutritional properties; therefore, EBR pretreatment has potential commercial value for prolonging the market life of wucai.

Abstract Background Although septal myectomy is a standard strategy for managing patients with hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM) and drug-refractory symptoms, so far, only a few experienced myectomy centers exist globally. Mainly, this can be explained by the many technical challenges presented by myectomy. From our clinical experience, applying the mini-invasive surgical instruments during myectomy potentially reduces the technical difficulty. This study reports the preliminary experience regarding transaortic septal myectomy using mini-invasive surgical instruments for managing patients with HOCM and drug-refractory symptoms; also, we evaluate the early results following myectomy. Methods Between March 2016 and March 2019, consecutive HOCM patients who underwent isolated transaortic septal myectomy using the mini-invasive surgical instruments were enrolled in this analysis. Intraoperative, in-hospital and follow-up results were analyzed. Results We included 168 eligible patients (83 males, mean 56.8 ± 12.3 years). The midventricular obstruction was recorded in 7 (4.2%) patients. All patients underwent transaortic septal myectomy with a mean aortic cross-clamping time of 36.0 ± 8.1 min. During myectomy, 9 (5.4%) patients received repeat aortic cross-clamping. Surgical mortality was 0.6%. Notably, 5 (3.0%) patients developed complete atrioventricular block, they needed permanent pacemaker implantation. The median follow-up time was 6 months; however, no follow-up deaths occurred with a significant improvement in New York Heart Association functional status. Abstract Introduction Cardiac herniation is a rare complication after pulmonary surgery, and there are only a few reports about it. We now report a case of cardiac herniation presenting as superior vena cava obstruction after pneumonectomy. Case presentation A-52-years old woman diagnosed right pulmonary squamous cell carcinoma was carried out right pneumonectomy, the pulmonary artery and right superior pulmonary vein were dissected and ligated intrapericardial. The patient developed tachycardia arrhythmias, hypotension, followed by loss of consciousness at about 18 h after operation. After resuscitation, the patient was conscious but developed cyanosis of the superior vena cava drainage area, uropenia, and hypotension (80/30 mmHg). Bedside-echocardiography showed that the SVC was obstructed due to thrombus formation. Chest radiography a shift of the heart into right hemithorax. Rethoracotomy was performed and the herniated heart was replaced into the pericardium, and the pericardium was repaired with Gore Tex patch. The patient recovered smoothly after the second surgery. Conclusion Cardiac herniation is a rare and fatally complication after thoracic surgery, and the prompt recognition with timely intervention is life-saving. Cardiac herniation is a rare but fatal complication of pneumonectomy. The increasing frequency of surgical resection for locally advanced thoracic carcinoma has led to a renewed emphasis regarding early diagnosis and treatment for cardiac herniation. Here we discuss a case of cardiac herniation presented with acute superior vena cava obstruction syndrome and hemodynamic instability after intrapericradial right pneumonectomy.

BIM cost, owner's punishment intensity, liquidated damage, size and allocation ratio of incentive pool, Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) gain, loss caused by BIM data resource sharing and other variable parameters are introduced into tripartite evolutionary game model which is established based on evolutionary game theory. Tripartite behavioral strategies are analyzed by evolutionary game theory. The stability of system equilibrium and influence of variable parameters on the stability of evolutionary games are discussed. The tripartite dynamic evolutionary game law based on collaborative behavior under the premise of limited rationality is studied. Then, the tripartite game pathways are numerically simulated by using MATLAB software. The influence of initial intention and variable parameters on the process and results of system evolution are analyzed. The dynamic mechanism of owner's supervision on contractor's and designer's collaborative behavior strategies is clarified. It shows that key point of driving participants to choose collaborative behavior is on owner side.

ObjectivesA right minithoracotomy approach with a sternal sparing technique is a minimally invasive option for surgeons performing aortic root surgery. This report presents our initial clinical results of the right minithoracotomy Bentall procedure.MethodsClinical data of 15 patients were retrospectively analyzed who underwent the minimally invasive Bentall procedure through the right anterior thoracotomy via the second intercostal incision without any costochondral cartilage invasion at our institution between October, 2019 and June, 2021. The operative time, length of intensive care unit stay and postoperative hospital stay, perioperative outcomes, and follow-up results were analyzed.ResultsThe median aortic cross-clamping time was 95.0 (85.5–98.8) min. Three (21.4%) patients received blood transfusion. The median drainage volume in the first 24 h was 200.0 ml, with no redo for bleeding. The median duration of mechanical ventilation was 12.5 (11.0–25.0) h, and median length of intensive care unit stay was 1.5 (1.0–3.0) day. All patients discharged 5.8 ± 1.2 days following surgery, with no dead patients found. At 6 months following surgery, all patients survived with an improved New York Heart Association (NYHA) functional class.ConclusionThe right minithoracotomy Bentall procedure may be performed safely with low morbidity and mortality. This approach should be considered as an option in carefully selected patients requiring aortic root replacement.

Abstract Background Pyroptosis is a recently identified pathway of caspase-mediated cell death in response to microbes, lipopolysaccharide, or chemotherapy in certain types of cells. However, the mechanism of how pyroptosis is regulated is not well-established. Methods Herein, the intracellular bacteria were detected by staining and laser confocal microscopy and TEM. Live/dead cell imaging assay was used to examine macrophage death. Western blot and immunohistochemical staining were used to examine the protein changes. IFA was used to identify typical budding vesicles of pyroptosis and the STAT3 nuclear localization. SEM was used to observe the morphological characteristics of pyroptosis. ELISA was used to detect the level of inflammatory cytokines. Pyroptosis was filmed in macrophages by LSCM. Results S. aureus was internalized by human macrophages. Intracellular S. aureus induced macrophage death. S. aureus invasion increased the expression of NLRP3, Caspase1 (Casp-1 p20) and the accumulation of GSDMD-NT, GSDMD-NT pore structures, and the release of IL-1β and IL-18 in macrophages. Macrophages pyroptosis induced by S. aureus can be abrogated by blockage of S. aureus phagocytosis. The pyroptosic effect by S. aureus infection was promoted by either rapamycin or Stattic, a specific inhibitor for mTORC1 or STAT3. Inhibition of mTORC1 or STAT3 induced pyroptosis. mTORC1 regulated the pyroptosic gene expression through governing the nuclear localization of STAT3. mTORC1/STAT3 axis may play a regulatory role in pyroptosis within macrophages. Conclusions S. aureus infection induces human macrophage pyroptosis, inhibition of mTORC1/STAT3 axis facilitates S. aureus-induced pyroptosis. mTORC1 and STAT3 are associated with pyroptosis. Our findings demonstrate a regulatory function of the mTORC1/STAT3 axis in macrophage pyroptosis, constituting a novel mechanism by which pyroptosis is regulated in macrophages. High temperature detection is a constant challenge for condition monitoring under harsh environments in optical fiber sensors research. In this study, the temperature response characteristics of guided acoustic wave Brillouin scattering (GAWBS) spectra in silica single-mode fiber (SMF) up to 800 °C are experimentally investigated, demonstrating the feasibility of the method for high-temperature monitoring. With increasing temperature, the resonance frequency of GAWBS spectra increases in a nearly linear manner, with linearly fitted temperature-dependent frequency shift coefficients of 8.19 kHz/°C for TR2,7 mode and 16.74 kHz/°C for R0,4 mode. More importantly, the linewidth of the GAWBS spectra is observed to narrow down with increasing temperature with a linearly fitted rate of −6.91 × 10−4/°C for TR2,7 modes and −8.56 × 10−4/°C for R0,4 modes. The signal-to-noise ratio of the GAWBS spectra induced by both modes increase by more than 3 dB when the temperature rises from 22 °C to 800 °C, which indicates that the proposed sensing scheme has better performance in high-temperature environments, and are particularly suitable for sensing applications in extreme environments. This study confirms the potential of high-temperature sensing using only GAWBS in silica fibers without any complex micromachining process, which has the advantages of strong mechanical strength, simple structure, easy operation, and low cost.

TATA box-binding protein-associated factor 12 (TAF12) has been identified as an oncogene in choroid plexus carcinoma, but its role in glioma is poorly understood because of a lack of previous studies. This study investigated the relationship of TAF12 expression with the clinicopathologic features of glioma cases, as well as its prognostic value and biological function, using large-scale databases and clinical samples. TAF12 mRNA expression and clinicopathologic characteristics of glioma cases were assessed in three public databases, and bioinformatics analyses were conducted to explore the prognostic value and biological functions of TAF12 in glioma. High TAF12 expression was commonly associated with reduced survival time and poor clinical indexes, including higher World Health Organization grade, wild-type isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 expression, and 1p19q non-codeletion status (p < 0.0001). Multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that high TAF12 expression was an independent poor prognostic factor for glioma patients (hazard ratio = 1.41, 95% confidence interval, 1.18–1.68, p < 0.001). Functional enrichment analysis revealed involvement of TAF12 in immune and inflammatory responses in glioma. Also, expression of several immune checkpoint molecules was significantly higher in samples with high TAF12 expression. TAF12 is a potential independent prognostic factor for glioma, and these findings provide a foundation for further investigation of the potential role of TAF12 in immunotherapy.

The Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) instruments on-board the Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership (S-NPP) and Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) spacecrafts 1 and 2 provides calibrated sensor data record (SDR) reflectance, radiance, and brightness temperatures for use in environment data record (EDR) products. The SDRs and EDRs are used in weather forecasting models, weather imagery and climate applications such as ocean color, sea surface temperature and active fires. The VIIRS has 22 bands covering a spectral range 0.4–12.4 µm with resolutions of 375 m and 750 m for imaging and moderate bands respectively on four focal planes. The bands are stratified into three different types based on the source of energy sensed by the bands. The reflective solar bands (RSBs) detect sunlight reflected from the Earth, thermal emissive bands (TEBs) sense emitted energy from the Earth and the day/night band (DNB) detects both solar and lunar reflected energy from the Earth. The SDR calibration uses a combination of pre-launch testing and the solar diffuser (SD), on-board calibrator blackbody (OBCBB) and space view (SV) on-orbit calibrator sources. The pre-launch testing transfers the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) traceable calibration to the SD, for the RSB, and the OBCBB, for the TEB. Post-launch, the on-board calibrators track the changes in instrument response and adjust the SDR product as necessary to maintain the calibration. This paper will discuss the pre-launch radiometric calibration portion of the SDR calibration for the RSBs that includes the dynamic range, detector noise, calibration coefficients and radiometric uncertainties for JPSS-2 VIIRS.

Because the road surfaces of the underground roadways in coal mines are slippery, uneven, with dust and water mist, and the noise and light illumination effects are significant, global positioning system (GPS) signals cannot be received, which seriously affects the ability of the odometer, optical camera and ultrasonic camera to collect data. Therefore, the underground positioning of coal mines is a difficult issue that restricts the intellectualization of underground transportation, especially for automatic robots and automatic driving vehicles. Ultra-wide band (UWB) positioning technology has low power consumption, high performance and good positioning effects in non-visual environments. It is widely used in coal mine underground equipment positioning and information transmission. In view of the above problems, this research uses the WLR-5A mining unmanned wheeled chassis experimental platform; uses two UWB receivers to infer the position and yaw information of the vehicle in the underground roadway through the method of differential mapping; and tests the vehicle on the double shift line and quarter turn line in the GAZEBO simulation environment and on the ground simulation roadway to simulate the vehicle meeting conditions and quarter turning conditions in the underground roadway. The positioning ability of the method in these two cases is tested. The simulation and test results show that the vehicle position and attitude information deduced by two UWB receivers through the differential mapping method can basically meet the requirements of underground environments when the vehicle is traveling at low speeds.

Abstract Objective To compare the incidence of atrial fibrillation (AF) and alteration of heart rate variability (HRV) after pulmonary lobectomy through video assisted thoracic surgery or thoracotomy, and to explore the role of autonomic nerves in the pathogenesis of atrial fibrillation after pulmonary lobectomy. Methods In a single institution, 224 patients (age > 60) with normal sinus rhythm were enrolled in the study. Experienced surgeons and anesthetists carried out operation and anesthesia according to the same procedure. The hearts were monitored using Holter for more than 96 h. Any new-onset AF was recorded and HRV was analyzed at different time intervals. Results One hundred twelve patients undergoing video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) and 112 patients undergoing thoracotomy (THOR) were matched for age and gender. Atrial fibrillation occurred in 39 patients, with a similar incidence between the two groups (VATS: 19/112, 16.9% and THOR: 20/112, 17.9%, P = 0.82). The post-operational heart variability at different time intervals was comparable between the two groups. Conclusion Pulmonary lobectomy through video assisted thoracic surgery does not reduce the postoperative atrial fibrillation. Autonomic nerve mechanism may be involved in the pathogenesis of postoperative atrial fibrillation.

Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) is one of the main pathogens in cow mastitis, colonizing mammary tissues and being internalized into mammary epithelial cells, causing intracellular infection in the udder. Milk that is produced by cows that suffer from mastitis due to S. aureus is associated with decreased production and changes in protein composition. However, there is limited information on how mastitis-inducing bacteria affect raw milk, particularly with regard to protein content and protein composition. The main purpose of this work was to examine how S. aureus infection affects milk protein synthesis in bovine mammary epithelial cells (BMECs). BMECs were infected with S. aureus, and milk protein and amino acid levels were determined by ELISA after S. aureus invasion. The activity of mTORC1 signaling and the transcription factors NF-κB and STAT5 and the expression of the amino acid transporters SLC1A3 and SLC7A5 were measured by western blot or immunofluorescence and RT-qPCR. S. aureus was internalized by BMECs in vitro, and the internalized bacteria underwent intracellular proliferation. Eight hours after S. aureus invasion, milk proteins were downregulated, and the level of BMECs that absorbed Glu, Asp, and Leu from the culture medium and the exogenous amino acids induced β-casein synthesis declined. Further, the activity of mTORC1 signaling, NF-κB, and STAT5 was impaired, and SLC1A3 and SLC7A5 were downregulated. Eight hours of treatment with 100 nM rapamycin inhibited NF-κB and STAT5 activity, SLC1A3 and SLC7A5 expression, and milk protein synthesis in BMECs. Thus mTORC1 regulates the expression of SLC1A3 and SLC7A5 through NF-κB and STAT5. These findings constitute a model by which S. aureus infection suppresses milk protein synthesis by decreasing amino acids uptake in BMECs.

Abstract Background Osteochondral defects caused by an acute traumatic injury or articular degeneration remains difficult to be manipulated. Repair of articular defects is still a great challenge for both tissue engineers and orthopedic surgeons. Therefore, combination of biomaterials with cartilage promotive drugs is well worth being developed to support the regeneration of both cartilage and subchondral bone. Methods Rabbits undergoing osteochondral defect surgery were intrarticularly injected with icariin-conditioned serum (ICS), chitosan (CSSH) and combination of ICS with CSSH, respectively. Gait analysis was performed using VICON motion capture system. ICRS score and immunohistochemical (IHC) analysis including H&E, Safranin O, toluidine blue and collagen II staining was employed to evaluate macroscopic cartilage regeneration and determine the morphologic repair of cartilage. Results Rabbits with the treatment of ICS or CSSH alone showed mild improvement in hopping time and range of joint angles while ICS-CSSH group exhibited longer jumping time and larger range of joint angles. In addition, femoral condyle in ICS-CSSH rabbits could be seen with more native cartilage and subchondral bone regeneration in both macroscopic observation and IHC analysis. Conclusion ICS combined with CSSH could promote the repair of osteochondral defect in rabbit knees. Combination of biomaterials with cartilage promotive drugs may ultimately have profound implications in the management of cartilage defect.

Abstract This study explores the dynamic effects of different oil shocks on real exchange rates in net oil importers and exporters. Specifically, the connectedness measures are combined with the structural vector autoregressive model. The findings show that oil supply shocks have a larger depreciating influence on exchange rates in oil exporters than in importers. All countries are generally more sensitive to oil-specific demand shocks, and this sensitivity can lead to a significant appreciation in real exchange rates, except in Japan and the United Kingdom. Further, the spillover effect between oil shocks and exchange rates has strengthened after the global financial crisis of 2007–08. Our findings provide useful implications for the policy-makers and market risk managers to effectively avoid exchange rate risk induced by oil shocks.

Abstract Background Early neointimal hyperplasia of vein graft may be ameliorated via enhancing intravenous surface shear stress. Cellular processes including proliferation, apoptosis and migration of endothelial cells (ECs) and vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) may play very important roles in the process of neointimal hyperplasia of vein graft; and mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathways including extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK1/2) and p38 pathways play vital roles in regulating a large variety of cellular processes. This study evaluated the impacts of shear stress and MAPK pathways on cellular processes of ECs in a co-culture system with VSMCs, and aimed to test the hypothesis that high shear stress suppresses proliferation and migration but promotes apoptosis of ECs co-cultured with VSMCs via down-regulating MAPK pathway. Methods Primary ECs and VSMCs derived from porcine great saphenous vein were collected, respectively. 4–7 generation of cells were used as work cells. ECs and VSMCs were co-cultured and synchronized under high and low shear stress using Parallel-Plate Flow Chamber system. And then, ECs co-cultured with VSMCs were incubated with U0126 (ERK1/2 inhibitor) or PD98059 (p38 inhibitor) under different shear stress. Proliferation, apoptosis and migration of ECs in a co-culture system with VSMCs were detected by 4,5-dimethyl-2-thiazolyl (MTT) assay and bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU) assay, fluorescent-activated cell sorting (FACS) technique, and Transwell assay separately. Each test repeated 3 times. Additionally, protein expressions of ERK1/2 and p38 MAPK were detected by using Western blot, respectively. Results Under higher level of shear stress condition, proliferation and migration of ECs co-cultured with VSMCs were suppressed, while cell apoptosis was promoted. And blocking ERK1/2 pathway by U0126 or blocking p38 pathway by PD98059, proliferation and migration of ECs co-cultured with VSMCs were further suppressed, while cell apoptosis was further promoted. Additionally, protein expressions of phosphorylation of ERK1/2 and p38MAPK were decreased under higher level of shear stress condition, and were further reduced by blocking ERK1/2 or p38 pathway under shear stress condition. Conclusions High shear stress may suppress proliferation and apoptosis of ECs in a co-culture system with VSMCs but promote cell migration via down-regulating ERK1/2 and p38 MAPK pathways.

It has recently become clear that several human lineages coexisted with Homo sapiens during the late Middle and Late Pleistocene. Here, we report an archaic human fossil that throws new light on debates concerning the diversification of the Homo genus and the origin of H. sapiens. The fossil was recovered in Harbin city in northeastern China, with a minimum uranium-series age of 146 ka. This cranium is one of the best preserved Middle Pleistocene human fossils. Its massive size, with a large cranial capacity (∼1,420 mL) falling in the range of modern humans, is combined with a mosaic of primitive and derived characters. It differs from all the other named Homo species by presenting a combination of features, such as long and low cranial vault, a wide and low face, large and almost square orbits, gently curved but massively developed supraorbital torus, flat and low cheekbones with a shallow canine fossa, and a shallow palate with thick alveolar bone supporting very large molars. The excellent preservation of the Harbin cranium advances our understanding of several less-complete late Middle Pleistocene fossils from China, which have been interpreted as local evolutionary intermediates between the earlier species Homo erectus and later H. sapiens. Phylogenetic analyses based on parsimony criteria and Bayesian tip-dating suggest that the Harbin cranium and some other Middle Pleistocene human fossils from China, such as those from Dali and Xiahe, form a third East Asian lineage, which is a part of the sister group of the H. sapiens lineage. Our analyses of such morphologically distinctive archaic human lineages from Asia, Europe, and Africa suggest that the diversification of the Homo genus may have had a much deeper timescale than previously presumed. Sympatric isolation of small populations combined with stochastic long-distance dispersals is the best fitting biogeographical model for interpreting the evolution of the Homo genus. As one of the most complete archaic human fossils, the Harbin cranium provides critical evidence for studying the diversification of the Homo genus and the origin of Homo sapiens. However, the unsystematic recovery of this cranium and a long and confused history since the discovery impede its accurate dating. Here, we carried out a series of geochemical analyses, including non-destructive X-ray fluorescence (XRF), rare earth elements (REE), and the Sr isotopes, to test the reported provenance of the Harbin cranium and get better stratigraphic constraints. The results show that the Harbin cranium has very similar XRF element distribution patterns, REE concentration patterns, and Sr isotopic compositions to those of the Middle Pleistocene-Holocene mammalian and human fossils recently recovered from the Harbin area. The sediments adhered in the nasal cavity of the Harbin cranium have a 87Sr/86Sr ratio of 0.711898, falling in the variation range measured in a core drilled near the Dongjiang Bridge, where the cranium was discovered during its reconstruction. The regional stratigraphic correlations indicate that the Harbin cranium was probably from the upper part of the Upper Huangshan Formation of the Harbin area, which has an optically stimulated luminescence dating constraint between 138 and 309 ka. U-series disequilibrium dating (n = 10) directly on the cranium suggests that the cranium is older than 146 ka. The multiple lines of evidence from our experiments consistently support the theory that the Harbin cranium is from the late Middle Pleistocene of the Harbin area. Our study also shows that geochemical approaches can provide reliable evidence for locating and dating unsystematically recovered human fossils, and potentially can be applied to other human fossils without clear provenance and stratigraphy records. At present, most multi-dialect speech recognition models are based on a hard-parameter-sharing multi-task structure, which makes it difficult to reveal how one task contributes to others. In addition, in order to balance multi-task learning, the weights of the multi-task objective function need to be manually adjusted. This makes multi-task learning very difficult and costly because it requires constantly trying various combinations of weights to determine the optimal task weights. In this paper, we propose a multi-dialect acoustic model that combines soft-parameter-sharing multi-task learning with Transformer, and introduce several auxiliary cross-attentions to enable the auxiliary task (dialect ID recognition) to provide dialect information for the multi-dialect speech recognition task. Furthermore, we use the adaptive cross-entropy loss function as the multi-task objective function, which automatically balances the learning of the multi-task model according to the loss proportion of each task during the training process. Therefore, the optimal weight combination can be found without any manual intervention. Finally, for the two tasks of multi-dialect (including low-resource dialect) speech recognition and dialect ID recognition, the experimental results show that, compared with single-dialect Transformer, single-task multi-dialect Transformer, and multi-task Transformer with hard parameter sharing, our method significantly reduces the average syllable error rate of Tibetan multi-dialect speech recognition and the character error rate of Chinese multi-dialect speech recognition.
