With the rapid development of the field of life sciences, traditional 2D cell culture and animal models have long been unable to meet the urgent needs of modern biomedical research and new drug development. Establishing a new generation of experimental models and research models is of great significance for deeply understanding human health and disease processes, and developing effective treatment measures. As is well known, long research and development cycles, high risks, and high costs are the “three mountains” facing the development of new drugs today. Organoids and organ-on-chips technology can highly simulate and reproduce the human physiological environment and complex reactions in vitro, greatly improving the accuracy of drug clinical efficacy prediction, reducing drug development costs, and avoiding the defects of drug testing animal models. Therefore, organ-on-chips have enormous potential in medical diagnosis and treatment.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of myricetin on ovalbumin (OVA)-induced allergic rhinitis in mice. Methods: Mice were sensitized and challenged using OVA (5%, 500 mL) intraperitoneally and intranasally, respectively, on an alternative day for 14 days, followed by administration of myricetin (50, 100, and 200 mg/kg) till day 21. Nasal symptoms, biochemical parameters, protein expressions, and histopathology were observed. In the current work, the coupled mathematical models for decarburization, fluid flow model and inclusion collision-aggregation model were solved to investigate the spatial distribution of carbon, inclusion’s collision-aggregation and removal in a single snorkel vacuum refining furnace (SSF). The numerical results show that the turbulence kinetic energy of ladle in SSF is much greater than that in RH, which can shrink the dead zone and prompt the mixing in the ladle. The overall decarburization reaction rate can be described as a first-order reaction. On the condition of the same gas flow rate, the volumetric mass transfer coefficient for decarburization in SSF is almost twenty times bigger than that in RH, which leads to a much greater decarburization rate in SSF. The spatial distribution of carbon mass fraction in SSF is quite different from that in RH. There is the greater mass fraction of carbon at the recirculation zone under up-snorkel in RH, but this phenomenon disappears in SSF. The inclusion removal can be simplified as the mass transfer between liquid steel to slag, refractory wall and bubble surface. And the overall inclusion removal rate can be regarded as a first-order reaction. The volumetric mass transfer coefficient for inclusion removal in SSF is about three times as that in RH, the inclusion removal rate in SSF is greater than that in RH. The inclusions with different size have different removal rates in SSF. For inclusion flotation after deoxidization, the treatment time in SSF is less than that in RH.

This paper explores the potential of thermal storage as an energy storage technology with cost advantages. The study uses numerical simulations to investigate the impact of adding porous material to the HTF side during solidification to improve the heat transfer effect of TES using AlSi 12 alloy as the phase-change material. The research also examines the effects of adding porous dielectric materials and increasing air velocity on the discharge temperature, discharge power, and discharge time of high-temperature phase-change energy storage systems. The study found that the temperature difference of the PCM (increased), solidification time (reduced more than 85%), the outlet temperature of the air, and heat discharge power of the LHS did not vary significantly across different porous materials (copper foam, nickel foam, and silicon carbide foam) added to the HTF tube. These findings offer important information for the design of high-temperature phase-change energy storage devices and can guide future developments in this field. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper is focused on the characterisation and demonstration of Newtonian behaviour of salt at both high and low shear rate for sodium and potassium nitrate eutectic mixture (60/40) ranging from 250 °C to 500 °C. Analysis of published and experimental data was carried out to correlate all the numbers into one meaningful 4th order polynomial equation. Addition of a low amount of copper oxide nanoparticles to the mixture increased viscosity of 5.0%–18.0% compared to the latter equation.

In this study, the effect of nanoparticle concentration was tested for both CuO and TiO2 in eutectic mixture of sodium and potassium nitrate. Results showed an enhancement in specific heat capacity (Cp) for both types of nanoparticles (+10.48% at 440 °C for 0.1 wt % CuO and +4.95% at 440 °C for 0.5 wt % TiO2) but the behavior toward a rise in concentration was different with CuO displaying its highest enhancement at the lowest concentration whilst TiO2 showed no concentration dependence for three of the four different concentrations tested. The production of cluster of nanoparticles was visible in CuO but not in TiO2. This formation of nanostructure in molten salt might promote the enhancement in Cp. However, the size and shape of these structures will most likely impact the energy density of the molten salt.
