Abstract

Using $(2712.4 \pm 14.3) \times 10^6~\psi$(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, we search for the hadronic transition $h_c \to \pi^+\pi^-J/\psi$ via $\psi(3686)\to \pi^0 h_c$. No significant signal is observed. We set the most stringent upper limits to date on the branching fractions $\mathcal{B}(\psi(3686)\to \pi^0 h_c)\times\mathcal{B}(h_c\to\pi^+\pi^-J/\psi)$ and $\mathcal{B}(h_c \to \pi^+\pi^-J/\psi)$ at the 90$\%$ confidence level, which are determined to be $6.7\times 10^{-7}$ and $9.4 \times10^{-4}$, respectively.

Abstract

Using $(10087\pm44)\times10^6J/\psi$ events collected with the BESIII detector, we search for the rare decay $J/\psi \to \gamma D^0+c.c.$ for the first time. No obvious signal is observed and the upper limit on the branching fraction is determined to be ${\cal B}(J/\psi \to \gamma D^{0}+c.c.)< 9.1 \times 10^{-8}$ at 90\% confidence level.

Abstract

We performed parallel measurements of the high-frequency shear modulus $G$ and relative volume $\Delta V/V$ for high-entropy Ti$_{20}$Zr$_{20}$Hf$_{20}$Be$_{20}$Cu$_{20}$ and Ti$_{20}$Zr$_{20}$Hf$_{20}$Be$_{20}$Ni$_{20}$ glasses upon heating from room temperature up to the complete crystallization. The changes of these properties due to structural relaxation both below and above the glass transition temperature are singled out. It is shown that these changes for both initial and preannealed samples can be well described within the framework of the Interstitialcy theory. It is found that the whole relaxation process in the full temperature range of the experiments for both samples' states can be characterized by a single dimensionless temperature-independent parameter $K_i=dln\;G/dln\;V$, which equals to -44 and -53 for the above glasses, respectively, and strongly points at interstitial-type defects as a source of relaxation. We also show that the relaxation of the relative volume linearly depends on the defect concentration. This behavior can be described by another dimensionless temperature-independent parameter, which is related with the relaxation volume of defects. Possible contribution of vacancy-like defects into the relaxation is discussed., Comment: 15 pages, 5 figures

Abstract

We performed high-frequency (0.4 to 1.7 MHz) measurements of the internal friction (IF) on 14 bulk metallic glasses (MGs). It is found that 12 of these MGs display relaxation IF peaks at temperatures T= 400-500 K, which are weakly affected by heat treatment within the amorphous state. The corresponding relaxation time is about 0.3 microseconds. This fast relaxation is reported for the first time in the literature. Abstract

We performed calorimetric measurements on 30 bulk metallic glasses differing with their mixing entropies DSmix. On this basis, the excess entropies DS and excess enthalpies DH of glasses with respect to their maternal crystalline states are calculated. It is found that the excess entropy DS on the average decreases with increasing mixing entropy DSmix. This means that so-called "high-entropymetallic glasses" (i.e. the glasses having high DSmix) actually constitute glasses with low excess entropy DS. We predict that such glasses should have reduced relaxation ability. We also found that the excess enthalpy DH of glass linearly increases with its excess entropy DS, in line with a general thermodynamic estimate., Comment: 5 pages, 3 figures

Abstract

We measured the shear viscosity of 14 metallic glasses differing with their mixing entropy $\Delta S_{mix}$. It is found that the viscosity at the glass transition temperature $T_g$ significantly increases with $\Delta S_{mix}$. Using calorimetric data, we calculated the excess entropy of all glasses $\Delta S$ with respect to their maternal crystalline states as a function of temperature. It is shown that the excess entropy $\Delta S$ both at room temperature and at $T_g$ \textit{decreases} with $\Delta S_{mix}$. It is concluded that glasses with "high mixing entropy" $\Delta S_{mix}$ correspond to MGs with \textit{low} excess entropy $\Delta S$. Abstract

Using a notion on the excess entropy of glass with respect to the counterpart crystal, we introduce a simple dimensionless order parameter $\xi$, which changes from $\xi \rightarrow 0$ to $\xi \rightarrow 1$. The former case corresponds to a strongly disordered liquid-like structure while the latter situation describes a highly ordered crystal-like glass. This approach is applied to 13 metallic and 2 tellurite glasses. We found that $\xi$ is strongly sensitive to structural state and/or chemical composition. 9. Critical behavior of the fluctuation heat capacity near the glass transition of metallic glasses

Abstract

The high-frequency shear modulus of five Zr-, Pd-, Cu-based conventional and two high-entropy bulk metallic glasses was measured in a wide temperature range up to the beginning of crystallization. Using these data and general thermodynamic relations, the "fluctuation" heat capacity $\Delta C_f$ determined by local structural fluctuations in the defect regions is introduced and calculated. It is found that $\Delta C_f$ temperature dependence for all metallic glasses has a large peak located slightly below or above the glass transition temperature but clearly lower than the crystallization onset temperature. The form of this peak resembles the characteristic $\lambda$-peak typical for order-disorder phase transitions. It is suggested that this $\Delta C_f$-peak reflects certain underlying critical phenomenon. The critical temperature $T_0$ (peak temperature) and corresponding critical index $\alpha$ are determined. Averaged over all seven metallic glasses under investigation in the initial and relaxed states, the critical index $\alpha=0.26$. The results obtained indicate that the fluctuations of thermal energy near the glass transition bear the marks of a continuous phase transition. However, the derived critical index is between those corresponding to a second-order phase transition ($\alpha\approx 0.1$) and a critical transition characterized by a tricritical point ($\alpha \approx 0.5$)., Comment: 18 pages, 4 figures

10. Defect-induced ordering and disordering in metallic glasses

Abstract

On the basis of shear modulus measurements on a Pt-based glass, we calculated temperature dependence of the defect concentration c using the Interstitialcy theory. This temperature dependence is compared with temperature dependence of the normalized full width at half maximum (FWHM) gamma of the first peak of the structure factor S(q) for the same glass available in the literature. It is found that above the glass transition temperature Tg linearly increases with c in the same way for both initial and relaxed (preannealed) samples providing the evidence of defect-induced disordering in the supercooled liquid region independent of glass thermal prehistory. For both states of the samples, the derivative d(gamma)/dc is close to unity. Below Tg, the interrelation between gamma and c is entirely different for initial and relaxed samples. In the former case, strong defect-induced ordering upon approaching Tg is observed while relaxed samples do not reveal any clear ordering/disordering. Possible reasons for these observations are discussed. To further investigate the relationship between the normalized FWHM and defect concentration, we performed molecular dynamic simulation of gamma(c)-dependence in a high-entropy FeNiCrCoCu model glass. It is found that gamma also linearly increases with c while the derivative d(gamma)/dc is again close to unity just as in the case of Pt-based glass., Comment: 15 pages, 6 postscript figures

We investigated the anti-inflammation and wound healing (WH) effects of an aqueous extract of RSM on a burn model in rats.Methods: The effects of RSM were studied by heat-induced burns in rats, treatment with vehicle, Jinwanhong ointment, and RSM (1.5 or 0.75 g/mL). Indicators of burn tissue (BT) were photographed by digital machines and analyzed. The microcirculation in BT was detected by scattered full-frame real-time imaging. Levels of inflammatory mediators and growth factors were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and immunohistochemical staining. Local pathologic changes in BT were observed by hematoxylin-and-eosin (HE) staining. Ultrahigh pressure liquid chromatography–linear ion trap–Orbitrap mass spectrometry (UHPLC–LTQ–Orbitrap-MS) was used to explore the absorption of RSM in local skin, subcutaneous tissue, muscle tissue, serum, liver tissue, and kidney tissue.Results: RSM treatment could reduce the wound area, increase percent WH, increase blood perfusion in BT, reduce serum levels of interleukin (IL)-6, IL-1, tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), increase levels of epidermal growth factor (EGF), transforming growth factor (TGF)-β, and hydroxyproline (Hyp) in serum, and increase protein expression of basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF), TGF-β 1, EGF, and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF)-1 in skin tissues. The appropriate AgNPs loading ratio on ZIF-8 was screened through the cell and antibacterial experiments based on biosafety and antibacterial performance. The optimal environment for AgNPs@ZIF-8 to exert antibacterial performance was probed in the context of bacterial communities under different acid-base conditions. The potential mechanism of AgNPs@ZIF-8 to inhibit the common clinical strains was investigated by observing the biofilm metabolic activity and the level of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in bacteria.Results: The successful piggybacking of AgNPs by ZIF-8 was confirmed using UV-Vis spectroscopy, FTIR spectroscopy, particle size analysis, zeta potential analysis, and SEM characterization methods. Based on the bacterial growth curve (0– 24 hours), the antibacterial ability of AgNPs@ZIF-8 was found to be superior to AgNPs. When the mass ratio of ZIF-8 and AgNPs was 1:0.25, the selection of AgNPs@ZIF-8 was based on its superior antimicrobial efficacy and enhanced biocompatibility. Notably, under weakly acidic bacterial microenvironments (pH=6.4), AgNPs@ZIF-8 demonstrated a more satisfactory antibacterial effect. In addition, experiments on biofilms showed that concentrations of AgNPs@ZIF-8 exceeding 1×MIC resulted in more than 50% biofilm removal. The nanomedicine was found to increase ROS levels upon detecting the ROS concentration in bacteria.Conclusion: Novel nanocomposites consisting of low cytotoxicity drug carrier ZIF-8 loaded with AgNPs exhibited enhanced antimicrobial effects compared to AgNPs alone. The pH-responsive nano drug delivery system, AgNPs@ZIF-8, exhibited superior antimicrobial activity in a mildly acidic environment. Abstract

Conventional crystalline alloys usually possess a low atomic size difference in order to stabilize its crystalline structure. However, in this article, we report a single phase chemically complex alloy which possesses a large atomic size misfit usually unaffordable to conventional alloys. Consequently, this alloy develops a rather complex atomic-scale chemical order and a highly distorted crystalline structure. As a result, this crystalline alloy displays an unusually high elastic strain limit (~2%), about ten times of that of conventional alloys, and an extremely low internal friction (< 2E-4) at room temperature. More interestingly, this alloy firmly maintains its elastic modulus even when the testing temperature rises from room temperature to 900 K, which is unmatched by the existing alloys hitherto reported. From an application viewpoint, our discovery may open up new opportunities to design high precision devices usable even under an extreme environment.

In particular, WGS was performed to obtain genomic information on this clinical isolate, and assemble all the plasmids of the blaOXA-484-harboring strain.Results: The antimicrobial susceptibility pattern of K. variicola 4717 revealed that it was resistant to a range of antibiotics, including aztreonam, imipenem, meropenem, ceftriaxone, cefotaxime, ceftazidime, levofloxacin, ciprofloxacin, piperacillin-tazobactam, methylene-sulfamer oxazole, amoxicillin-clavulanic acid, cefepime, and tigecycline. Its susceptibility to chloromycin was intermediate, while it was still susceptible to amikacin, gentamicin, fosfomycin, and polymyxin B. The presence of two companion plasmids, p4717_1 and p4717_2, together with a plasmid carrying the blaOXA-484 gene was observed. An in-depth investigation of p4717-OXA-484 uncovered that it is an IncX3-type plasmid and shares a similar segment encoded by IS26. Given the similar genetic background, it was conceivable that blaOXA-484 could have developed from blaOXA-181 through a series of mutations.Conclusion: Herein, we described the first genome sequence of K. variicola strain harbouring the class D β-actamase blaOXA-484 in an Inc-X3-type plasmid. A 45-year-old male with multiple severe vesicles, bullae and pustule on the palmar aspects of both hand and foot diagnosed dyshidrotic eczema by pathology was treated with dupilumab at an initial dose of 600 mg subcutaneously, followed by 300 mg every 2 weeks. The physician’s assessment of the patient revealed an excellent response to the treatment with dupilumab; the lesions and symptoms achieved dramatic improvement on the third day, and at 6 weeks, the hands and feet became completely normal without relapse in the past 1.5 years of discontinuation. Systematic literature searches were performed, and 6 case reports, 5 case series, 2 prospective observational studies and 1 retrospective review with a total of 150 patients were identified to describing the evaluation of efficacy and safety of dupilumab treatment for hand and foot eczema. Dupilumab appears to be safe and well tolerated with clinical benefit in recalcitrant hand and foot eczema. Larger randomized controlled trials using validated outcome measures and detailed hand eczema type and population classification are needed before dupilumab can be applied in clinical settings.Keywords: dupilumab, hand eczema, dyshidrotic eczema, treatment, quick

The treatment of PG is challenging. Palmoplantar pustulosis (PPP) is also an autoinflammatory dermatosis with sterile pustules on the palms and/or the soles. We demonstrated a 68-year-old patient with coexisting autoinflammatory diseases including PG, 1-year history of plaque psoriasis and PPP, recovered after treatment with adalimumab. The CD4+, CD8+ T cell subsets and CD56dim NK cells were detected by flow cytometry. The concentrations of cytokines were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Extraction, amplification, and viral load quantification of specimens were performed using the Roche Cobas Ampliprep/Cobas TaqMan HIV-1 test.Results: Compared with IR group, the total number of red blood cells (RBCs) and lymphocytes (LCs) in INR group was significantly reduced, and there was a significant positive correlation between the number of RBCs and that of LCs. The overall production rates of T cells-related cytokines were lower in INR group. However, the cell-surface expression of programmed death-1 (PD-1) on CD4+ T and CD8+ T cells were markedly elevated in INR group. Moreover, it was found that the proportion and the killing ability of CD56dim NK cells significantly increased in INR patients, and significantly correlated with apoptosis of T lymphocytes.Conclusion: A poor immune reconstitution in HIV-positive patients might result from multiple factors, including bone marrow suppression, high PD-1 expression on the surface of CD4+ T cells, and over-activation of T and NK cells. This work describes the development and optimization of the radiochemical separation of 147Pm and 151Sm. The two main challenges addressed were: the radiochemical separation of the lanthanides by using LN Resin and DGA,N Resin, and the quantification of the chemical recovery of 147Pm with a non-isotopic analogue (i.e. neodymium). The applicability of radiochemical separation procedures was investigated by using spiked samples. The optimized radiochemical separation procedure by using LN Resin was applied to a reactor cooling water primary coolant sample with an automated system. Sector Field Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (SF-ICP-MS) was used to determine the chemical recoveries. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

These unfortunate injuries generated by ionizing radiation alter the therapeutic window and result in the re-occurrence of the malignancy. Therefore, we engaged in vitro studies by demonstrating radiation-induced inflammasome and cell death in endothelial cells.Methods: The microvascular endothelial cells were cultured in a sterile dish, then kept in a humidifier of 5% at 37°C for 12 hours/more to attain confluence, and exposed at a dose of 1.8Gy/min achieve the coveted amounts except for the control. The cells were harvested 24 hours post-irradiation.Results: Our findings indicate that gamma radiation activates the NOD-like receptor (NLR) family of NLRP1 and NLRP3 complex in microvascular endothelial cells. These complexes activate the inactive precursor of caspase-1, which cleaved to bioactive caspase − 1 and enhances the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines of interleukin-1β and interleukin-18 that induce the dependent pyroptotic, which results in the production of chemokines, tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), and high-mobility group protein-1 (HMGB-1). We also discovered the radiation could directly prompt caspase − 1, which auto-cleaved to activate gasdermin D to potentiate pyroptosis independently.Discussion: Overall, these findings suggested that reducing the unfavorable effect of radiation injuries could be challenging since gamma radiation induces the microvascular endothelial cells to cell death and activates the inflammasome signaling via different pathways.Keywords: gamma radiation, microvascular endothelial cells, ECs, NOD-like receptor, NLR, inflammasome, pyroptosis

The primary aim of this paper is to characterize the uniformly locally univalent harmonic mappings in the unit disk. Then, we obtain sharp distortion, growth and covering theorems for one parameter family ${\mathcal B}_{H}(\lambda)$ of uniformly locally univalent harmonic mappings. Abstract

Dynamic heterogeneity as one of the most important properties in supercooled liquids has been found for several decades. However, its structural origin remains open for many systems. Here, we propose a new structural parameter to characterize local atomic packing in metallic liquids. It is found that the new parameter in a simulated metallic glass-forming liquid is closely correlated with potential energy and atomic mobility. It also exhibits significant spatial heterogeneities and these structural fluctuations show close correlation with the spatial distribution of the long-time dynamic propensities. Therefore, our results provide a direct evidence of the correlation between atomic structure and dynamical heterogeneity.

It was suggested omalizumab is well tolerated and effective in patients with hypocomplementaemic urticarial vasculitis.Objective: To evaluate the clinical response and safety of omalizumab for treating patients with normocomplementaemic urticarial vasculitis (NUV) in real-world setting.Methods: We collected data from a single-center. This study included patients with NUV who was received omalizumab therapy. During a 24-week study period, the clinical efficacy was evaluated by patient’s self-assessment instrument urticarial vasculitis activity score and Dermatology Life Quality Index.Results: Five patients with NUV were enrolled. Three patients received 6 doses of 150 or 300 mg omalizumab subcutaneously every 4 weeks. At 24-week follow-up, it was revealed improvement of clinical manifestations and reduction of urticarial vasculitis activity score and Dermatology Life Quality Index. At 24-week visit, mild wheals recurred in one patient who was only administrated with omalizumab for 4 times. One patient did not response to omalizumab therapy.
