The shortcomings of segmentally assembled round‐end hollow‐section piers (SRHPs), such as weak segment joints and poor energy‐dissipation capacity, have limited their application in high‐intensity earthquake regions. Therefore, this article particularly focuses on the seismic performance of SRHPs. Three high‐speed railway bridges are designed, which are equipped with three different types of round‐end hollow‐section piers (RHPs): cast‐in situ RHP (CRHP), segmentally assembled RHP with energy‐dissipation bar (E‐SRHP), and segmentally assembled RHP with low‐yield point steel connection buckles (L‐SRHP). Subsequently, three nonlinear finite element models of the corresponding bridges were established and validated by quasi‐static test results. Furthermore, compared to CRHP, the seismic performance of E‐SRHP and L‐SRHP was evaluated from the perspectives of seismic fragility and life‐cycle seismic loss. Research results revealed that the seismic fragility performance of the bridge with L‐SRHP is the best among all three bridges, followed by the bridge with E‐SRHP. Notably, the life‐cycle cost considering seismic loss for E‐SRHP is 83% of that for CRHP, whereas L‐SRHP is only 65% of that for CRHP. In general, the high‐speed railway bridge supported by L‐SRHP possesses the best seismic performance and economic benefits among the three bridges, which shows promising application prospects in high‐intensity earthquake‐prone regions. Study Design: Observational study. Objective: To analyze the cervical sagittal parameters for standing Digital radiography (DR) and supine Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and to further clarify the relationship between odontoid incidence (OI) and cervical spondylotic myelopathy (CSM). Methods: 52 CSM patients aged 54.46 ± 2.89 years underwent both standing DR and supine MRI scans of cervical spine between November 2021 and November 2022. OI, odontoid tilt (OT), C2 slope (C2S), T1 slope (T1S), C0-2 angle, C2-7 angle (cervical lordosis [CL]), and T1S-CL were measured in both DR and MRI images using Surgimap (Version 2.3.2.1). Pearson correlation and linear regression were used to compare these parameters between the two modalities. Results: Cervical sagittal parameters, including OI, OT, C2S, C0-2 angle, T1S, C2-7 angle (CL) and T1S-CL, showed no significant differences in the measurements between the two modalities. Based on the DR images, OI was related to OT (r =.386, P <.01), C2S (r =.505, P <.01), CL (r = -.412, P <.01), and T1S-CL (r =.320, P <.05), and OI was matched with CL (r2 =.170) and T1S-CL (r2 =.102). Based on MRI images, OI was related to OT (r =.433, P <.01), C2S (r =.516, P <.01), CL (r = -.355, P <.01), and T1S-CL (r =.271, P <.05), and OI matched with C2-7 (r2 =.126) and T1S-CL (r2 =.073). Conclusion: OI is an independent parameter related to cervical anatomy and its measurement is unaffected by external factors. In patients with CSM, odontoid parameters may effectively describe the sagittal alignment of the cervical spine on DR and MRI images. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Inhibition of SIRT3 exhibited potency in triggering leukemic cell differentiation. In discovery of potent SIRT3 inhibitors for cancer differentiation therapy, structural modification was performed on the previously developed lead compound P6. A total of 33 compounds were designed and synthesized. In the enzyme inhibitory assay, several molecules S18, S26, S27 and T5 showed potent SIRT3 inhibitory activity with IC50 value of 0.53, 1.86, 5.06, and 2.88 μM, respectively. Moreover, the tested compounds exhibited SIRT3 inhibitory selectivity over SIRT1 and SIRT2. Compounds S27 and T5 were potent in inhibition the growth of MM1.S and RPMI‐8226 cells in the in vitro antiproliferative test. Significantly, representative compounds, especially S27 and T5, promoted differentiation of tested MM cells in the cellular morphological evaluation, accompanied by increasing the expression of differentiation antigen CD49e and human immunoglobulin light chain lambda and kappa. Additionally, molecule S18 without antiproliferative potency itself, showed significant inhibitory activity against growth factor IL‐6 induced RPMI‐8226 cell proliferation. Collectively, potent SIRT3 selective inhibitors with MM cell differentiation potency were developed for further discovery of anticancer drugs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A fully discrete scheme is proposed for numerically solving the strongly nonlinear time-fractional parabolic problems. Time discretization is achieved by using the Grünwald–Letnikov (G–L) method and some linearized techniques, and spatial discretization is achieved by using the standard second-order central difference scheme. Through a Grönwall-type inequality and some complementary discrete kernels, the optimal time-stepping error estimates of the proposed scheme are obtained.
