Achieving return of spontaneous circulation and improving survival during out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) is challenging. It has been established that extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR) can be an alternative rescue therapy when conventional cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CCPR) fails to re-establish circulation. Pre-hospital ECPR can reduce the time of inadequate circulation as much as possible. However, the implementation of pre-hospital ECPR needs huge investment, and due to the limitations of site conditions, clinical promotion and application are difficult. Therefore, team cooperation, implementation process and the best beneficiaries of the pre-hospital ECPR still need further study. At present, some medical institutions at home and abroad have carried out the pre-hospital ECPR strategy and achieved some success. Herein, we review the current situation and the prospect of applying prehospital ECPR.

Background: Parkinson's disease (PD) is a prevalent neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the progressive loss of dopaminergic neurons. This study aims to discover potential new genetic biomarkers for PD. Methods: Transcriptome data from a total of 56 patients with PD and 61 healthy controls were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. Differential gene expression (DEG) analysis, weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA), and three machine learning algorithms (LASSO, Random Forest, SVM-RFE) were employed to identify pivotal PD-associated genes. Additionally, RT-qPCR experiments were conducted to validate our findings in clinical specimens. Functional enrichment analysis and Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA) were performed to explore the functional and pathway mechanisms of the identified genes in PD. Molecular docking studies revealed potential small-molecule drug targets for the key genes. Results: The results from the three machine learning algorithms identified ELL-Associated Factor 2 (EAF2) as a key gene in PD. Gene expression analysis indicated that EAF2 is significantly downregulated in PD patients, and the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis validated the diagnostic potential of EAF2. The results from RT-qPCR on clinical specimens confirmed the findings from public database analyses. Functional enrichment analysis suggested that EAF2 is involved in dopamine biosynthesis and synaptic transmission for PD pathology. Additionally, EAF2 expression correlated significantly with immune cell infiltration. Furthermore, molecular docking results indicated that Acalabrutinib, Tirabrutinib Hydrochloride, and Ibrutinib are potential targeted therapeutic agents for EAF2. Conclusion: These findings underscore EAF2 as a novel diagnostic biomarker and potential therapeutic target for PD, warranting further mechanistic studies and clinical validation. Simple Summary: Decapod iridescent virus 1 (DIV1), a new virus, has posed significant challenges to the Macrobrachium nipponense industry, and little is known about the mechanism of the host response to DIV1 infection. In order to understand the immune response of M. nipponense to DIV1 infection, transcriptome analysis was conducted on the hepatopancreas of M. nipponense to examine the global expression patterns at 48 hpi with DIV1. Our results showed that multiple immune-related genes (e.g., lectin, dorsal, wnt6, hsp70, integrin and caspase) may play a significant role in M. nipponense against DIV1 infection, and the immune-related signaling pathways were significantly activated. This study has the potential to enhance our comprehension of the immune response of M. nipponense to DIV1 infection, which is advantageous for future treatment strategies for disease caused by DIV1. Macrobrachium nipponense is a significant cultivated species in China. However, decapod iridescent virus 1 (DIV1), as a newly discovered crustacean-lethal virus, has resulted in significant financial losses for the M. nipponense industry. In order to examine the immunological response of M. nipponense to DIV1, we conducted transcriptome analysis of the hepatopancreas from M. nipponense infected with DIV1 using RNA-seq. RNA sequencing analysis identified a combined total of 41,712 assembled unigenes, and 7014 genes that showed differential expression were identified in the group infected with DIV1, compared to the control group. Among these DEGs, 3952 were found to be up-regulated, while 3062 were down-regulated; many well-characterized DEGs were involved in innate immune defense, particularly involving the C-type lectin receptor signaling pathway, complement and coagulation cascades, phagosome, lysosome and PPAR signaling pathway. Moreover, the expression levels of well-known immune-related genes (dorsal, wnt6, lectin, caspase, integrin, hsp70) in the hepatopancreas and hemolymph were investigated by Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR), and the findings demonstrated a significant increase in gene expression in the hepatopancreas and hemolymph at various time points after infection. BACKGROUND: Drought affects the characteristics of water use during crop production and so quantitatively evaluating the impacts is important. However, it remains unclear how crop water use responds to drought. To address this gap, water footprint (WF) and standardized precipitation evapotranspiration index (SPEI) were calculated by remote sensing approaches to assess the effects of drought on crop water use. Rainfed maize is the most important crop in Jilin Province, and its growth and water use are more susceptible to drought. The present study explored not only the impact of growing season drought on the maize WF values in Jilin Province, but also the response of WF values to drought at different time scales. RESULTS: Spatially, 72.94% of the WFblue pixels showed a non‐significant increase, and the WFgreen in 68% pixels decreased significantly, being mainly concentrated in the middle region. Furthermore, the pixels affected by monthly time scale drought were mainly in the middle region, whereas the pixels affected by annual time scale drought were mainly in the western region. CONCLUSION: Drought not only affected on the source and structure of agricultural water consumption, but also had different effects on WF values at different time scale. These effects had obvious spatial differences. The present study systematically explored the effects of drought on the WF values for rainfed maize in different climate regions and a consideration of these effects could provide valuable information on rainfed maize growth and the agricultural water use response to a changing climate. © 2023 Society of Chemical Industry.
