1. Exploring ChatGPT-based Augmentation Strategies for Contrastive Aspect-based Sentiment Analysis

Abstract

Aspect-based sentiment analysis (ABSA) involves identifying sentiment towards specific aspect terms in a sentence and allows us to uncover nuanced perspectives and attitudes on particular aspects of a product, service, or topic. However, the scarcity of labeled data poses a significant challenge to training high-quality models. To address this issue, we explore the potential of data augmentation using ChatGPT, a well-performing large language model (LLM), to enhance the sentiment classification performance towards aspect terms. Specifically, we explore three data augmentation strategies based on ChatGPT: context-focused, aspect-focused, and context-aspect data augmentation techniques. Context-focused data augmentation focuses on changing the word expression of context words in the sentence while keeping aspect terms unchanged. In contrast, aspect-focused data augmentation aims to change aspect terms but keep context words unchanged. Context-Aspect data augmentation integrates the above two data augmentations to generate augmented samples. Furthermore, we incorporate contrastive learning into the ABSA tasks to improve performance. Extensive experiments show that all three data augmentation techniques lead to performance improvements, with the context-aspect data augmentation strategy performing best and surpassing the performance of the baseline models., Comment: 8 pages, 3 figures

On one hand, increased lactate levels produced by glycolysis acidifies the TME, inhibiting T cell activity. On the other hand, glycolysis promotes the expression of PD-L1 through various mechanisms, facilitating immune evasion. Therefore, controlled modulation of glycolysis in tumor cells to subsequently improve the immune tumor microenvironment holds significant implications for clinical cancer treatment and immune regulation.Methods: To reverse the immunosuppressive microenvironment caused by tumor glycolysis and reduce tumor immune escape, we developed a photo-thermal-controlled precision drug delivery platform to regulate tumor metabolism and aid in the activation of T cells, thereby enhancing immunotherapy. First, hollow mesoporous Prussian blue (HPB) was prepared, and the glycolysis inhibitor 3-bromopyruvate (3-BrPA) was encapsulated within HPB using the phase-change material 1-tetradecanol, resulting in B/T-H. This product was then modified with tumor cell membranes to obtain a photo-thermal controllable regulator (B/T-H@Membrane, B/T-HM).Results: Due to the excellent drug loading and photo-thermal properties of HPB, upon reaching the tumor, B/T-HM can rapidly heat under 808 nm irradiation, causing the 1-tetradecanol to transition to a liquid phase and release 3-BrPA, which effectively inhibits tumor glycolysis through the HK2 pathway, thereby reducing tumor cell proliferation, decreasing lactate production, and downregulating tumor PD-L1 expression. In synergy with photo-thermal and αPD-1, this photo-thermally controllable metabolic-immune therapy effectively activates T cells to eliminate tumor.Conclusion: In response to the changes in immune microenvironment caused by tumor metabolism, a photo-thermal precision-controlled drug delivery platform was successfully developed. This platform reshapes the tumor immunosuppressive microenvironment, providing a new approach for T cell-based tumor immunotherapy. 4. Latent Dynamic Networked System Identification with High-Dimensional Networked Data

Abstract

Networked dynamic systems are ubiquitous in various domains, such as industrial processes, social networks, and biological systems. These systems produce high-dimensional data that reflect the complex interactions among the network nodes with rich sensor measurements. In this paper, we propose a novel algorithm for latent dynamic networked system identification that leverages the network structure and performs dimension reduction for each node via dynamic latent variables (DLVs). The algorithm assumes that the DLVs of each node have an auto-regressive model with exogenous input and interactions from other nodes. The DLVs of each node are extracted to capture the most predictable latent variables in the high dimensional data, while the residual factors are not predictable. The advantage of the proposed framework is demonstrated on an industrial process network for system identification and dynamic data analytics.

5. MLPST: MLP is All You Need for Spatio-Temporal Prediction

Abstract

Traffic prediction is a typical spatio-temporal data mining task and has great significance to the public transportation system. Considering the demand for its grand application, we recognize key factors for an ideal spatio-temporal prediction method: efficient, lightweight, and effective. However, the current deep model-based spatio-temporal prediction solutions generally own intricate architectures with cumbersome optimization, which can hardly meet these expectations. To accomplish the above goals, we propose an intuitive and novel framework, MLPST, a pure multi-layer perceptron architecture for traffic prediction. Specifically, we first capture spatial relationships from both local and global receptive fields. Then, temporal dependencies in different intervals are comprehensively considered. Through compact and swift MLP processing, MLPST can well capture the spatial and temporal dependencies while requiring only linear computational complexity, as well as model parameters that are more than an order of magnitude lower than baselines. Extensive experiments validated the superior effectiveness and efficiency of MLPST against advanced baselines, and among models with optimal accuracy, MLPST achieves the best time and space efficiency.

6. Probabilistic Reduced-Dimensional Vector Autoregressive Modeling for Dynamics Prediction and Reconstruction with Oblique Projections

Abstract

In this paper, we propose a probabilistic reduced-dimensional vector autoregressive (PredVAR) model with oblique projections. This model partitions the measurement space into a dynamic subspace and a static subspace that do not need to be orthogonal. The partition allows us to apply an oblique projection to extract dynamic latent variables (DLVs) from high-dimensional data with maximized predictability. We develop an alternating iterative PredVAR algorithm that exploits the interaction between updating the latent VAR dynamics and estimating the oblique projection, using expectation maximization (EM) and a statistical constraint. In addition, the noise covariance matrices are estimated as a natural outcome of the EM method. A simulation case study of the nonlinear Lorenz oscillation system illustrates the advantages of the proposed approach over two alternatives.

Abstract

We propose an optimization formulation for the simultaneous estimation of a latent variable and the identification of a linear continuous-time dynamic system, given a single input-output pair. We justify this approach based on Bayesian maximum a posteriori estimators. Our scheme takes the form of a convex alternating minimization, over the trajectories and the dynamic model respectively. We prove its convergence to a local minimum which verifies a two point-boundary problem for the (latent) state variable and a tensor product expression for the optimal dynamics.

Abstract

This document presents the initial scientific case for upgrading the Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility (CEBAF) at Jefferson Lab (JLab) to 22 GeV. It is the result of a community effort, incorporating insights from a series of workshops conducted between March 2022 and April 2023. With a track record of over 25 years in delivering the world's most intense and precise multi-GeV electron beams, CEBAF's potential for a higher energy upgrade presents a unique opportunity for an innovative nuclear physics program, which seamlessly integrates a rich historical background with a promising future. The proposed physics program encompass a diverse range of investigations centered around the nonperturbative dynamics inherent in hadron structure and the exploration of strongly interacting systems. It builds upon the exceptional capabilities of CEBAF in high-luminosity operations, the availability of existing or planned Hall equipment, and recent advancements in accelerator technology. The proposed program cover various scientific topics, including Hadron Spectroscopy, Partonic Structure and Spin, Hadronization and Transverse Momentum, Spatial Structure, Mechanical Properties, Form Factors and Emergent Hadron Mass, Hadron-Quark Transition, and Nuclear Dynamics at Extreme Conditions, as well as QCD Confinement and Fundamental Symmetries. Each topic highlights the key measurements achievable at a 22 GeV CEBAF accelerator. Furthermore, this document outlines the significant physics outcomes and unique aspects of these programs that distinguish them from other existing or planned facilities. The efficacy of apatinib (Apa), a key liver cancer treatment, is unsatisfactory due to inadequate targeting and is accompanied by notable side-effects. Leveraging nanomaterials to enhance its targeting represents a crucial strategy for improving the effectiveness of liver cancer therapy.Patients and Methods: A metal polyphenol network-coated apatinib-loaded metal-organic framework-based multifunctional drug-delivery system (MIL-100@Apa@MPN) was prepared by using metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) as carriers. The nanoparticles (NPs) were subsequently characterized using techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), zeta potential measurements, and particle size analysis. In vitro experiments were conducted to observe the drug release kinetics and cytotoxic effects of MIL-100@Apa@MPN on HepG2 cells. The in vivo anti-tumor efficacy of MIL-100@Apa@MPN was evaluated using the H22 tumor-bearing mouse model.Results: The formulated MIL-100@Apa@MPN demonstrates remarkable thermal stability and possesses a uniform structure, with measured drug-loading (DL) and encapsulation efficiency (EE) rates of 28.33% and 85.01%, respectively. In vitro studies demonstrated that HepG2 cells efficiently uptake coumarin-6-loaded NPs, and a significant increase in cumulative drug release was observed under lower pH conditions (pH 5.0), leading to the release of approximately 73.72% of Apa. In HepG2 cells, MIL-100@Apa@MPN exhibited more significant antiproliferative activity compared to free Apa. In vivo, MIL-100@Apa@MPN significantly inhibited tumor growth, attenuated side-effects, and enhanced therapeutic effects in H22 tumor-bearing mice compared to other groups.Conclusion: We have successfully constructed a MOF delivery system with excellent safety, sustained-release capability, pH-targeting, and improved anti-tumor efficacy, highlighting its potential as a therapeutic approach for the treatment of HCC.Keywords: metal-organic frameworks nanoparticles, apatinib, drug-targeting delivery, ferroptosis therapy, hepatocellular carcinoma

However, the association between sleep regularity and health outcomes in the aging population is not well understood. The current systematic review identified 22 publications that examined the relationship between sleep regularity and selected health outcomes: cardiovascular risk, cognitive impairment, and mortality. All studies were published after 2010, reflecting a growing research interest in daily sleep regularity. Low sleep regularity was consistently associated with higher cardiovascular risk and elevated risk of all-cause mortality. Results on cognitive impairment are mixed, with inconsistency likely attributed to small sample sizes and differences in sleep regularity assessment. Overall, regularity in sleep carries important information about health and should be included in future studies that collect daily sleep measures. Steady-state VPA concentrations were determined using homogeneous enzyme immunoassays, and CYP2C19 *1, *2, and *3 loci via q-PCR. CYP2C19 genotype distributions between Zhuang and Han groups in Nanning were compared using chi-square tests and contrasted with other ethnicities. Non-parametric tests analyzed VPA variations, identifying critical factors through multivariate stepwise regression.Results: The study identified five CYP2C19 genotypes at the *2 and *3 loci, with the *3/*3 genotype absent in both cohorts. The CYP2C19 distribution in Guangxi Zhuang and Han mirrors, yet diverges significantly from Hui and Kazakh groups. Among 192 subjects, VPA blood levels remained consistent across metabolic types and ages 18– 60 but varied significantly by gender. Multivariate analysis revealed gender and BMI as significant factors, overshadowing CYP2C19 genotype and age.Conclusion: In Guangxi, CYP2C19 genetic variants in Zhuang and Han schizophrenia patients demonstrate statistically indistinguishable allelic and metabolic distributions. Gender and BMI can influence standardized VPA blood concentrations in schizophrenia patients. Pyroptosis is dependent on cysteine aspartate protein hydrolase (caspase)-mediated activation of GSDMD, NLRP3, and the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines, interleukin-1 (IL-1β), and interleukin-18 (IL-18), ultimately leading to cell death. Non-coding RNA (ncRNA) is a type of RNA that does not encode proteins in gene transcription but plays an important regulatory role in other post-transcriptional links. NcRNA mediates pyroptosis by regulating various related pyroptosis factors, which we termed the pyroptosis signaling pathway. Previous researches have manifested that pyroptosis is closely related to the development of liver diseases, and is essential for liver injury, alcoholic fatty liver disease (ALD), non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), liver fibrosis, and liver cancer. Abstract

Investigating the physical and chemical structures of massive star-forming regions is critical for understanding the formation and the early evolution of massive stars. We performed a detailed line survey toward six dense cores named as MM1, MM4, MM6, MM7, MM8, and MM11 in G9.62+0.19 star-forming region resolved in ALMA band 3 observations. Toward these cores, about 172 transitions have been identified and attributed to 16 species including organic Oxygen-, Nitrogen-, Sulfur-bearing molecules and their isotopologues. Four dense cores MM7, MM8, MM4, and MM11 are line rich sources. Modeling of these spectral lines reveals the rotational temperature in a range of 72$-$115~K, 100$-$163~K, 102$-$204~K, and 84$-$123~K for the MM7, MM8, MM4, and MM11, respectively. The molecular column densities are 1.6 $\times$ 10$^{15}$ $-$ 9.2 $\times$ 10$^{17}$~cm$^{-2}$ toward the four cores. The cores MM8 and MM4 show chemical difference between Oxygen- and Nitrogen-bearing species, i.e., MM4 is rich in oxygen-bearing molecules while nitrogen-bearing molecules especially vibrationally excited HC$_{3}$N lines are mainly observed in MM8. The distinct initial temperature at accretion phase may lead to this N/O differentiation. Through analyzing column densities and spatial distributions of O-bearing Complex Organic Molecules (COMs), we found that C$_{2}$H$_{5}$OH and CH$_{3}$OCH$_{3}$ might have a common precursor, CH$_{3}$OH. CH$_{3}$OCHO and CH$_{3}$OCH$_{3}$ are likely chemically linked. In addition, the observed variation in HC$_{3}$N and HC$_{5}$N emission may indicate that their different formation mechanism at hot and cold regions., Comment: 40 pages, 23 figures

Factors like the presence of 2 chronic diseases, intense social loneliness, and more health care needs contributed to the occurrence of delay in seeing a doctor (OR (95% CI) = 2.102 (1.252– 3.529); OR (95% CI) = 1.030 (1.002– 1.059); OR (95% CI) = 1.049 (1.002– 1.099). Contrastively, factors like convenient access to medical care and good self-reported health status inhibited such occurrence OR (95% CI) = 0.321 (0.199– 0.519); OR (95% CI) = 0.369 (0.183– 0.745). The foremost reason was wanting to wait and see if the problem would get better on its own (117, 40.07%). Respiratory system disease (14.90%), dental problems (13.82%), and cardiac disease (13.61%) constituted the top 3 types of diseases whose treatments were delayed. Additionally, for the majority of older adults, the delay duration was 1– 2 weeks (99, 33.90%), and the economic burden was the cause of the longest delay in seeing a doctor among middle-aged and older adults.Conclusion: To alleviate the problem of delay in seeing a doctor among middle-aged and older adults, their families and society should enhance care for them and reduce their sense of social loneliness. 21. Carbon-chain molecule survey toward four low-mass molecular outflow sources

Abstract

We performed a carbon-chain molecule (CCM) survey toward four low-mass outflow sources, IRAS 04181+2655 (I04181), HH211, L1524, and L1598, using the 13.7 m telescope at the Purple Mountain Observatory (PMO) and the 65 m Tian Ma Radio telescope at the Shanghai Observatory. We observed the following hydrocarbons (C$_2$H, C$_4$H, c--C$_3$H$_2$), HC$_{\rm 2n+1}$N (n=1,2), C$_{\rm n}$S (n=2,3), and SO, HNC, N$_2$H$^+$. Hydrocarbons and HC$_3$N were detected in all the sources, except for L1598, which had a marginal detection of C$_4$H and a non-detection of HC$_3$N (J=2--1). HC$_5$N and CCCS were only detected in I04181 and L1524, whereas SO was only detected in HH211. L1598 exhibits the lowest detection rate of CCMs and is generally regarded to be lacking in CCMs source. The ratio of N(HC$_3$N/N(N$_2$H$^+$)) increases with evolution in low-mass star-forming cores. I04181 and L1524 are carbon-chain-rich star-forming cores that may possibly be characterized by warm carbon-chain chemistry. In I04181 and L1524, the abundant CCCS can be explained by shocked carbon-chain chemistry. In HH211, the abundant SO suggests that SO is formed by sublimated S$^+$. In this study, we also mapped HNC, C$_4$H, c--C$_3$H$_2$, and HC$_3$N with data from the PMO. We also find that HNC and NH$_3$ is concentrated in L1524S and L1524N, respectively. Furthermore, we discuss the chemical differences between I04181SE and I04181W. The co-evolution between linear hydrocarbon and cyanopolyynes can be seen in I04181SE.

Abstract

We searched for shocked carbon chain chemistry (SCCC) sources with C$_3$S abundances surpassing those of HC$_5$N towards the dark cloud L1251, using the Effelsberg telescope at K-band (18 -- 26\,GHz). L1251-1 and L1251-3 are identified as the most promising SCCC sources. The two sources harbor young stellar objects. We conducted mapping observations towards L1251-A, the western tail of L1251, at $\lambda$ $\sim$3\,mm with the PMO 13.7 m and the NRO 45 m telescopes in lines of C$_2$H, N$_2$H$^+$, CS, HCO$^+$, SO, HC$_3$N and C$^{18}$O as well as in CO 3--2 using the JCMT. The spectral data were combined with archival data including Spitzer and Herschel continuum maps for further analysis. Filamentary sub-structures labeled as F1 to F6 were extracted in L1251, with F1 being associated with L1251-A hosting L1251-1. The peak positions of dense gas traced by HCO$^+$ are misaligned relative to those of the dust clumps. Episodic outflows are common in this region. The twisted morphology of F1 and velocity distribution along L1251-A may originate from stellar feedback. SCCC in L1251-1 may have been caused by outflow activities originated from the infrared source IRS1. The signposts of ongoing SCCC and the broadened line widths of C$_3$S and C$_4$H in L1251-1 as well as the distribution of HC$_3$N are also related to outflow activities in this region. Identifying markers for early structure and function in patients with rheumatic heart disease who are at risk for adverse LVR after surgery can help determine the optimal timing of intervention. This study aimed to investigate whether preoperative parameters of global left ventricular long-axis strain (LVGLS) and mechanical discretization (MD) could predict postoperative adverse LVR.Methods: A total of 109 adult patients with RMS and 50 healthy controls were enrolled in this study. Baseline clinical features, conventional echocardiography results, LVGLS, and MD were compared between the two groups. Pre- and post-surgery echocardiography measurements were collected, and adverse LVR was defined as a> 15% increase in left ventricular end-diastolic volume or > 10% decrease in left ventricular ejection fraction. Binary regression analysis was used to determine independent predictors of poor left ventricular remodeling.Results: The variables associated with adverse LVR in this study were LVGLS (P< 0.001, odds ratio: 1.996, 95% CI: 1.394– 2.856) and MD (P=0.011, odds ratio: 1.031, 95% CI: 1.007– 1.055). The poorly reconstructed group had lower absolute values of LVGLS and higher MD than the healthy control group and the non-poorly reconstructed group. A LVGLS cutoff of − 15.0% was the best predictor for patients with poorly reconstructed LVR (sensitivity: 75.7%; specificity: 100.0%; AUC: 0.93), and a MD cutoff of 63.8ms was the best predictor (sensitivity: 63.8%; specificity: 98.6%; AUC: 0.88).Conclusion: Speckle tracking echocardiography has potential value for predicting the progression of adverse LVR and for identifying non-responders among patients with RMS undergoing surgery.Keywords: rheumatic mitral stenosis, left ventricular remodeling, left ventricular global longitudinal strain, mechanical dispersion, speckle tracking echocardiography

Due to safety concerns regarding the gel components, low mechanical adhesiveness, and unsatisfactory anti-inflammatory capacity qualities for practical uses in vivo, leading to the clinical translation of wound dressings is still difficult.Methods: A type of composite hydrogel (acrylamide/polyethylene glycol diacrylate/tannic acid, ie, AM/PEGDA/TA) by double bond crosslinking, Schiff base, and hydrogen bond interaction is proposed. The mechanical characteristics, adhesiveness, and biocompatibility of the hydrogel system were all thoroughly examined. Additionally, a full-thickness cutaneous wound model was employed to assess the in vivo wound healing capacity of resulting hydrogel dressings.Results: Benefiting the mechanism of multiple crosslinking, the designed composite hydrogels showed significant mechanical strength, outstanding adhesive capability, and good cytocompatibility. Moreover, the hydrogel system also had excellent shape adaptability, and they can be perfectly integrated into the irregularly shaped wounds through a fast in situ forming approach. However, the efficacy is limited due to the rapid plasma clearance of chemotherapeutic agents. Injectable hydrogels can form drug release depots, which provide a feasible solution for optimizing targeted chemotherapy through EUS-FNI.Methods: A drug delivery system was developed, consisting of gemcitabine (GEM) and thermo-sensitive hydrogel (PLGA-PEG-PLGA, PPP). The injectability, gel formation ability, biocompatibility and sustained drug delivery properties of PPP hydrogel were verified in vitro and in vivo. The effects of GEM/PPP hydrogel on cell proliferation, invasion, metastasis, and apoptosis were explored through co-culturing with PANC-1 cells. The therapeutic effects of GEM/PPP hydrogel on xenograft mice were compared with those of GEM, ethanol and polidocanol using the precisely targeted EUS-FNI technology. Tumor sections were examined by H&E, Ki-67, and TUNEL staining.Results: GEM/PPP hydrogel exhibited excellent injectability, biocompatibility, and the capability of sustained drug delivery for up to 7 days by forming a gel triggered by body temperature. It demonstrated the best therapeutic effects, significantly reducing proliferation, invasion and migration of PANC-1 cells while promoting apoptosis. After precise injection using EUS-FNI technology, GEM/PPP hydrogel resulted in a reduction of tumor weight by up to 75.96% and extending the survival period by 14.4 days with negligible adverse effects. Pathological examination revealed no systemic toxicity and significant apoptosis and minimal proliferation as well.Conclusion: The combination of GEM/PPP hydrogel and EUS-FNI technology provides an optimal approach of precise chemotherapy for pancreatic cancer, builds a bridge for clinical translation of basic research, and brings great hope for innovation of minimally invasive treatment modalities. Abstract

Dynamic inner principal component analysis (DiPCA) is a powerful method for the analysis of time-dependent multivariate data. DiPCA extracts dynamic latent variables that capture the most dominant temporal trends by solving a large-scale, dense, and nonconvex nonlinear program (NLP). A scalable decomposition algorithm has been recently proposed in the literature to solve these challenging NLPs. The decomposition algorithm performs well in practice but its convergence properties are not well understood. In this work, we show that this algorithm is a specialized variant of a coordinate maximization algorithm. This observation allows us to explain why the decomposition algorithm might work (or not) in practice and can guide improvements. We compare the performance of the decomposition strategies with that of the off-the-shelf solver Ipopt. The results show that decomposition is more scalable and, surprisingly, delivers higher quality solutions.

Abstract

We have used an unbiased, spectral line-survey that covers the frequency range from 211 to 275 GHz and was obtained with ALMA (angular resolution of 0.4 arcsec) to study the small-scale structure of the dense gas in Sagittarius B2 (north). Eight filaments are found converging to the central hub and extending for about 0.1 pc. The spatial structure, together with the presence of the massive central region, suggest that these filaments may be associated with accretion processes. In order to derive the kinematic properties of the gas in a chemically line-rich source like Sgr B2(N), we have developed a new tool that stacks all the detected transition lines of any molecular species. This permits to increase the signal-to-noise ratio of our observations and average out line blending effects, which are a common problem in line-rich regions. We derive velocity gradients along the filaments of about 20-100 km s$^{-1}$ pc$^{-1}$, which are 10-100 times larger than those typically found on larger scales (1 pc) in other star-forming regions. The mass accretion rates of individual filaments are about 0.05 M$_\odot$ yr$^{-1}$, which result in a total accretion rate of 0.16 M$_\odot$ yr$^{-1}$. Some filaments harbor dense cores that are likely forming stars and stellar clusters. The stellar content of these dense cores is on the order of 50% of the total mass. We conclude that the cores may merge in the center when already forming stellar clusters but still containing a significant amount of gas, resulting in a "damp" merger. The high density and mass of the central region, combined with the presence of converging filaments with high mass, high accretion rates and embedded dense cores already forming stars, suggest that Sgr B2(N) may have the potential to evolve into a super stellar cluster., Comment: Accepted for publication in Astronomy & Astrophysics. 10 pages with 8 figures and 2 tables, plus Appendices with extra figures and tables. Abstract

We present the first release of the data and compact-source catalogue for the JCMT Large Program SCUBA-2 Continuum Observations of Pre-protostellar Evolution (SCOPE). SCOPE consists of 850-um continuum observations of 1235 Planck Galactic Cold Clumps (PGCCs) made with the Submillimetre Common-User Bolometer Array 2 on the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope. These data are at an angular resolution of 14.4 arcsec, significantly improving upon the 353-GHz resolution of Planck at 5 arcmin, and allowing for a catalogue of 3528 compact sources in 558 PGCCs. We find that the detected PGCCs have significant sub-structure, with 61 per cent of detected PGCCs having 3 or more compact sources, with filamentary structure also prevalent within the sample. A detection rate of 45 per cent is found across the survey, which is 95 per cent complete to Planck column densities of $N_{H_{2}}$ $>$ 5 $\times$ 10$^{21}$ cm$^{-2}$. By positionally associating the SCOPE compact sources with YSOs, the star formation efficiency, as measured by the ratio of luminosity to mass, in nearby clouds is found to be similar to that in the more distant Galactic Plane, with the column density distributions also indistinguishable from each other., Comment: 16 pages, 13 figures, 1 table. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of intravenous dexamethasone on rebound pain after adductor canal block (ACB) and popliteal sciatic nerve block in patients with ankle fracture.Methods: We recruited 130 patients with ankle fractures scheduled for open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF), each of whom received ACB and popliteal sciatic nerve block. Patients were divided into two groups: C (ropivacaine only) and IV (ropivacaine with intravenous dexamethasone). The primary outcome was the incidence of rebound pain. Secondary outcomes included the following: pain scores at 6 h (T1), 12 h (T2), 18 h (T3), 24 h (T4), and 48 h (T5) after operation; duration of the nerve block; number of presses of the analgesia pump and rescue analgesic consumption in the three-day postoperative period; quality of recovery scale (QoR-15 score); postoperative sleep quality; satisfaction of patients; and levels of serum inflammatory markers (IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α) six hours after surgery.Results: Compared with group C, the incidence of rebound pain in group IV was significantly reduced, and the duration of nerve block was extended by approximately nine hours (P< 0.05). Moreover, patients in group IV had significantly lower pain scores at T2-T4, lower levels of serum inflammatory markers (IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α), higher QoR-15 score two days after the operation, and satisfactory sleep quality the night after surgery (P< 0.05).Conclusion: Intravenous dexamethasone can reduce the rebound pain after adductor block and sciatic popliteal nerve block in patients with ankle fracture surgery, prolong the duration of nerve block, and improve the quality of early postoperative recovery.Keywords: dexamethasone, nerve block, postoperative analgesia, ankle fracture, rebound pain

Abstract

In this study, aluminum matrix composites reinforced with micro-TiN were fabricated using selective laser melting (SLM) technique. The study investigates the effects of TiN content on densification, microstructure evolution, crystal textures, and mechanical properties. The results show that the relative density of composite samples containing 0–3 wt. % TiN exceeds 98%. However, further increase in TiN content leads to a decrease in relative density. The TiN particles are uniformly distributed and wetted by the AlSi10Mg matrix, forming a graded interfacial layer. The TiN particles refine the matrix grains and significantly reduce the prevalence (001) texture by promoting a heterogeneous nucleation process. In comparison to the AlSi10Mg alloy, the TiN/AlSi10Mg composite exhibits improved microhardness, tensile strength, and wear resistance. The exceptional mechanical properties of the Al matrix composites are attributed to the dispersion strengthening of the TiN particles and the fine-grain strengthening of the matrix. The optimal TiN content is found to be 3 wt. %, resulting in excellent mechanical performance of the fabricated samples (132.4±4.1 HV for hardness and 379.7±4.6 MPa for tensile strength) with a low friction coefficient of 0.49.

An IINS ranging from 0 to 3 was defined based on preoperative C-reactive protein (CRP), lymphocyte count, and serum albumin level, while an IBI was based on CRP and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio. The prognostic value of IINS and IBI was assessed using univariate and multivariate Cox regression and Kaplan–Meier survival curves. The concordance index and calibration curve were used for internal validation of models. This study aimed to quantify the relationship between preoperative hypoalbuminemia and postoperative pneumonia.Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of elderly patients (≥ 60 years) who underwent surgeries for hip fracture in a tertiary referral center between 2016 and 2020. According to the preoperative serum albumin level, they were divided into two groups: < 35 g/ L and ≥ 35 g/ L. To reduce potential confounding, propensity score matching (PSM) in a 1:1 ratio was performed, with the caliper value set as 0.002; and further conditional logistic regression analysis was used to control the other potential confounders to determine the association strength.Results: Among 3,147 eligible patients included, PSM yielded 1,318 matched patients, with 659 in each respective group, suggesting significantly improved balance in most variables (standardized mean deviation improvement range, 20.7% to 99.1%), except for basophil count. The conditional logistic regression analysis, adjusted for PS and other intra- or post-operative variables, showed 6.18-fold (relative ratio, 6.18; 95% CI, 3.15– 11.98; P< 0.001) increased risk of postoperative pneumonia associated with preoperative hypoalbuminemia.Conclusion: Preoperative hypoalbuminemia was identified to be independently and highly associated with development of postoperative pneumonia in elderly patients undergoing hip fracture surgeries. However, whether the patients who had such condition may benefit from preoperative targeted nutritional support needs to be clarified by more prospective studies.Keywords: hip fracture, geriatric population, hypoalbuminemia, pneumonia

Abstract

The high-mass star forming sites SgrB2(M) and SgrB2(N) have been the target of numerous studies, revealing e.g. a rich chemistry. We want to characterize their physical and chemical structure using ALMA high-angular resolution observations at mm wavelengths, reaching spatial scales of about 4000 au, and covering the whole band 6 (from 211 to 275 GHz). In order to determine the continuum emission in line-rich sources, we use a new statistical method: STATCONT. We detect 27 continuum sources in SgrB2(M) and 20 in SgrB2(N). We study the continuum emission across the ALMA band 6, and compare it with previous SMA 345 GHz and VLA 40 GHz observations, to study the nature of the sources detected. The brightest sources are dominated by (partially optically thick) dust emission, while there is an important degree of contamination from ionized gas free-free emission in weaker sources. While the total mass in SgrB2(M) is distributed in many fragments, most of the mass in SgrB2(N) arises from a single object, with filamentary-like structures converging towards the center. There seems to be a lack of low-mass dense cores in both regions. We determine H2 volume densities for the cores of about 10^5-10^7 Msun pc^-3, one to two orders of magnitude higher than the stellar densities of super star clusters. In general, SgrB2(N) is chemically richer than SgrB2(M). There seems to be a correlation between the chemical richness and the mass of the fragments, with more massive clumps being more chemically rich. Both SgrB2(N) and SgrB2(M) harbour a cluster of hot molecular cores. We compare the continuum images with predictions from a detailed 3D radiative transfer model that reproduces the structure of SgrB2 from 45 pc down to 100 au. This dataset, together with ongoing projects in the range 5 to 200 GHz, better constrain the 3D structure of SgrB2, and allow us to understand its physical and chemical structure., Comment: Accepted for publication in Astronomy & Astrophysics. 20 pages with 13 figures and 4 tables, plus Appendices with extra figures and tables.
