12. Dominocatalysis for selective dehydrogenation of ethane with shifted thermodynamic equilibrium

Abstract

Catalytic dehydrogenation of ethane is a promising non-petroleum route to produce ethylene but it suffers from insufficient conversion at mild temperatures because of the thermodynamic equilibrium limitation, leading to the high cost of product separation. Here, we developed a reaction process by interleaving the cobaltosilicate zeolite catalyst (CoS-1) for non-oxidative dehydrogenation and sodium tungstate-modified manganese oxide promoter (MnOx@Na2WO4) for selective hydrogen combustion in multiple beds as a dominomode in the reactor. The ethane dehydrogenation and hydrogen consumption occurred alternately on the spatially separated sites, which efficiently promoted ethane dehydrogenation by shifting the equilibrium to improve the ethane conversion with hindered excessive hydrocarbon combustion. As a result, the per-pass ethane conversion up to 43.2% and ethylene selectivity at 93.1% were achieved at 590°C with 0.8 bar of ethane feed. This dominoprocess would provide an efficient strategy for boosting the thermodynamically limited reactions and improving the vitality of the catalytic dehydrogenation of ethane.

Abstract

Data visualization is crucial in today's data-driven business world, which has been widely used for helping decision making that is closely related to major revenues of many industrial companies. However, due to the high demand of data processing w.r.t. the volume, velocity, and veracity of data, there is an emerging need for database experts to help for efficient and effective data visualization. In response to this demand, this article surveys techniques that make data visualization more efficient and effective. (1) Visualization specifications define how the users can specify their requirements for generating visualizations. (2) Efficient approaches for data visualization process the data and a given visualization specification, which then produce visualizations with the primary target to be efficient and scalable at an interactive speed. 25. A Physical Entangling Strategy for Simultaneous Interior and Exterior Modification of Metal-Organic Framework with Polymers.

Abstract

A new strategy uses a common feature of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), namely porosity rather than functionality, to achieve simultaneous interior and exterior modification of a MOF with polymers. We demonstrate that an anhydride-terminated polyimide oligomer can be covalently grafted to the amine-functionalized methacrylate polymer backbone residing underneath the MOF surface and physically entangled within the 3D nanochannels. The MOF particles were evenly coated with a thin layer of polyimide brushes on the surface thereby exhibiting increased dispersibility in solvent media as well as in polymer matrix. The MOF pores were decorated with aliphatic amine groups to endow the MOF with higher CO 2 affinity at low pressure. The polyimide-grafted surface allowed MOF particles to interact favorably with the polyimide matrix, producing defect-free MMM with drastically improved CO 2 permeability and maintaining the inherent CO 2 /N 2 and CO 2 /CH 4 selectivity of the neat polymeric membrane., (© 2020 Wiley-VCH GmbH.)
