Abstract Heptafluoroisobutyronitrile (C4F7N) is being considered as a promising alternative to the greenhouse gas SF6 in the electrical industry. However, its biotoxicity necessitates the development of gas sensing technology to detect leaked C4F7N. A combination of density functional theory and experiments was employed to evaluate the adsorption and sensing performance of different metal‐phthalocyanines as potential sensing materials for C4F7N detection. The study included exploring adsorption configurations with adsorption energies, electron transfer, and adsorption distance, as well as comparisons of electronic properties, electron distribution, and density of states (DOS) among the MPcs. Furthermore, gas sensing experiments were conducted using different MPcs to detect 25–100 ppm C4F7N. The results revealed that Mn‐Pc, Fe‐Pc, Co‐Pc, and Zn‐Pc exhibited considerable chemical interactions, while Ni‐Pc and Cu‐Pc showed weaker adsorption strength. These findings were further elucidated based on the electron density and DOS of atomic orbitals. Moreover, gas sensing experiments indicated that Co‐Pc demonstrated a higher response compared to Fe‐Pc at the same concentration of C4F7N. Overall, the theoretical and experimental insights offer valuable guidance for C4F7N detection and provide a systematic approach to screen and explore organometallic polymer‐based gas sensors applicable in various fields.

Nowadays, the issue of electromagnetic pollution has become increasingly prominent, underscoring the critical importance of developing high-performance microwave absorbers. This study put forwards the synthesis process of two-dimensional (2D) FeCo/Co8FeS8/C carbon nanosheets, wherein CoSO4 and FeCl3 serve as inorganic salt templates, and dopamine functions as the carbon source. FeCo alloy nanoparticles and Co8FeS8 nanoparticles are loaded on the surface of the carbon layer. 2D structure forms the conductive network, which proves advantages in establishing efficient electronic channels and minimizing conduction losses. The carbon component increases the dielectric constant of the composite and improves its impedance matching, and the FeCo alloy provides a certain ML. The synergistic effect between these components significantly contributes to the exceptional microwave absorption performance of the composites. Accordingly, the minimum reflection loss (RLmin) of FeCo/Co8FeS8/C composite reaches −47.4 dB, its effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) reaches 5.3 GHz. Abstract Parkinson’s disease (PD) is associated with aggregation of misfolded α-synuclein and other proteins, including tau. We designed a cross-sectional study to quantify the brain binding of [11C]PBB3 (a ligand known to bind to misfolded tau and possibly α-synuclein) as a proxy of misfolded protein aggregation in Parkinson’s disease (PD) subjects with and without cognitive impairment and healthy controls (HC). In this cross-sectional study, nineteen cognitively normal PD subjects (CN-PD), thirteen cognitively impaired PD subjects (CI-PD) and ten HC underwent [11C]PBB3 PET. A subset of the PD subjects also underwent PET imaging with [11C](+)DTBZ to assess dopaminergic denervation and [11C]PBR28 to assess neuroinflammation. Compared to HC, PD subjects showed higher [11C]PBB3 binding in the posterior putamen but not the substantia nigra. There was no relationship across subjects between [11C]PBB3 and [11C]PBR28 binding in nigrostriatal regions. [11C]PBB3 binding was increased in the anterior cingulate in CI-PD compared to CN-PD and HC, and there was an inverse correlation between cognitive scores and [11C]PBB3 binding in this region across all PD subjects. Our results support a primary role of abnormal protein deposition localized to the posterior putamen in PD. This suggests that striatal axonal terminals are preferentially involved in the pathophysiology of PD. Furthermore, our findings suggest that anterior cingulate pathology might represent a significant in vivo marker of cognitive impairment in PD, in agreement with previous neuropathological studies.

This is an article in the field of ceramics and composites. Mechanical properties and durability of sodium sulfate solution corrosion of iron tailings concrete are developed. The effects of different iron tailings content, the number of dry and wet cycles, and the concentration of sodium sulfate solution on its mechanical properties and durability are analyzed. The results show that when the iron tailings content is 30%, the number of dry and wet cycles is 60 times, and the sodium sulfate concentration is 5%, the performance indicators of the concrete reach the best state. With the increasing amount of iron tailings, the better the corrosion resistance and frost resistance of concrete will be. The heat of hydration reaction is constantly decreasing. The porosity of concrete and the change of total mercury volume show a trend of first decreasing and then increasing. Under the same condition of iron tailings content, the change law of the main peak amplitude of concrete after corrosion shows an increasing trend. However, under the same sodium sulfate solution concentration, the main peak amplitude of concrete showed a trend of first decreasing and then increasing after corrosion.

Objective: This study aims to examine the ultrasonographic features of secondary thyroid malignancies and compare the diagnostic efficacy of fine-needle aspiration (FNA) and core needle biopsy (CNB) in this condition. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 29 patients with secondary thyroid malignancies treated at our center between July 2011 and October 2022. Ultrasound images and clinical data were analyzed, and the lesions were classified according to the American College of Radiology Thyroid Imaging Reporting and Data System (ACR TI-RADS). Results: Among the 29 patients studied, primary tumor sites were predominantly the esophagus, lung, and nasopharynx. Comprehensive ultrasound data was available for 28 of these patients, revealing nodular lesions in 24 cases and diffuse lesions in 4 cases. Nodular lesions were predominantly solid or nearly solid hypoechoic nodules with parallel growth and extrathyroidal extension features, with a few showing macrocalcifications. Most patients had varying degrees of metastasis to neck lymph nodes. FNA accurately diagnosed 31.6 % of the lesions as secondary thyroid malignancies, while 5.3 % were misdiagnosed as papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). However, CNB demonstrated 100 % reliability in diagnosing secondary thyroid malignancies. Conclusion: This study's categorization of secondary thyroid malignancy ultrasonographic features identifies nodular and diffuse patterns, with the application of ACR TI-RADS proving effective for nodular types. In detecting these lesions, CNB demonstrates superior sensitivity compared to FNA. Thus, in cases of thyroid lesions suspected to be malignant, particularly with enlarged neck lymph nodes and in patients with a history of malignancy, CNB is recommended as the diagnostic method of choice.

Abstract Mechanical ventilation is an important life-saving therapy for general anesthesia and critically ill patients, but ventilation itself may be accompanied with lung injury. Ventilator-induced lung injury (VILI) exacerbates pre-existing lung disease, leading to poor clinical outcomes. Especially for patients undergoing cardiothoracic surgery and receiving one-lung ventilation (OLV), optimizing the parameters of OLV is closely related to their prognosis. It is not clear what is the best strategy to minimize VILI through adjusting ventilation parameters, including tidal volume, positive end expiratory pressure and driving pressure, etc. Different parameters, in combination, are responsible for VILI. Protective ventilation strategies, aiming to reduce postoperative pulmonary complications, have been discussed in many clinical studies and different opinions have been raised. This review addresses the pathogenesis of VILI and focus on the OLV management and better protective OLV strategies during thoracic surgery.

Abstract Background Infectious diseases are a serious threat to human especially since the COVID-19 outbreak has proved the importance and urgency of their diagnosis and treatment again. Metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) has been widely used and recognized in clinical and carried out localized testing in hospitals. Increasing the training of mNGS detection technicians can enhance their professional quality and more effectively realize the application value of the hospital platform. Methods Based on the initial theoretical understanding and practice of the mNGS platform for localization construction, we have designed a training program to enhance the ability of technicians to detect pathogens by utilizing mNGS, and hence to conduct training practices nationwide. Results Until August 30, 2022, the page views of online classes have reached 51,500 times and 6 of offline small-scale training courses have been conducted. A total of 67 trainees from 67 hospitals have participated in the training with a qualified rate of 100%. After the training course, the localization platform of 1 participating hospital has been put into use, 2 have added the mNGS localization platform for admission, among which 3 have expressed strong intention of localization. Conclusions This study focuses on the training procedures and practical experience of the project which is the first systematic standardized program of mNGS in the world. It solves the training difficulties in the current industry, and effectively promotes the localization construction and application of mNGS in hospitals. It has great development potential in the future and is worth further promotion.

Abstract When faced with incivility from service recipients, do volunteers feel damaged? As few previous studies have explored this issue, this study uses the conservation of resources theory to investigate the mechanisms through which incivility affects volunteer engagement and burnout, based on three-wave survey data from 1675 volunteers. This study develops a moderated mediation model to examine the effect of incivility on volunteer outcomes. We find that incivility affected volunteers’ subsequent outcomes, reducing engagement and increasing volunteer burnout by lowering volunteers’ psychological detachment. Volunteers’ hostile attribution bias played a moderating role, amplifying the negative impact of incivility on psychological detachment. Hostile attribution bias also enhanced the mediating effect of incivility on volunteer engagement and increased volunteer burnout by reducing psychological detachment. Besides developing a moderated mediation model, this study also proposes that managers should pay attention to strengthening volunteer training and providing psychological counseling to improve psychological detachment for volunteers experienced with incivility from service recipients.

AbstractObjective Delayed extubation was commonly associated with increased adverse outcomes. This study aimed to explore the incidence and predictors and to construct a nomogram for delayed extubation after thoracoscopic lung cancer surgery.Methods We reviewed medical records of 8716 consecutive patients undergoing this surgical treatment from January 2016 to December 2017. Using potential predictors to develop a nomogram and using a bootstrap-resampling approach to conduct internal validation. For external validation, we additionally pooled 3676 consecutive patients who underwent this procedure between January 2018 and June 2018. Extubation performed outside the operating room was defined as delayed extubation.Results The rate of delayed extubation was 1.60%. Multivariate analysis identified age, BMI, FEV1/FVC, lymph nodes calcification, thoracic paravertebral blockade (TPVB) usage, intraoperative transfusion, operative time and operation later than 6 p.m. as independent predictors for delayed extubation. Using these eight candidates to develop a nomogram, with a concordance statistic (C-statistic) value of 0.798 and good calibration. After internal validation, similarly good calibration and discrimination (C-statistic, 0.789; 95%CI, 0.748 to 0.830) were observed. The decision curve analysis (DCA) indicated the positive net benefit with the threshold risk range of 0 to 30%. Goodness-of-fit test and discrimination in the external validation were 0.113 and 0.785, respectively.Conclusion The proposed nomogram can reliably identify patients at high risk for the decision to delayed extubation after thoracoscopic lung cancer surgery. Optimizing four modifiable factors including BMI, FEV1/FVC, TPVB usage, and operation later than 6 p.m. may reduce the risk of delayed extubation.Key Messages:This study identified eight independent predictors for delayed extubation, among which lymph node calcification and anaesthesia type were not commonly reported.Using these eight candidates to develop a nomogram, we could reliably identify high-risk patients for the decision to delayed extubation.Optimizing four modifiable factors, including BMI, FEV1/FVC, TPVB usage, and operation later than 6 p.m. may reduce the risk of delayed extubation.

In recent years, high-entropy metal carbides (HECs) have attracted significant attention due to their exceptional physical and chemical properties. The combination of excellent performance exhibited by bulk HEC ceramics and distinctive geometric characteristics has paved the way for the emergence of one-dimensional (1D) HECs as novel materials with unique development potential. Herein, we successfully fabricated novel (Ti0.2Zr0.2Hf0.2Nb0.2Ta0.2)C nanowires derived via Fe-assisted single-sourced precursor pyrolysis. Prior to the synthesis of the nanowires, the composition and microstructure of (Ti,Zr,Hf,Nb,Ta)-containing precursor (PHECs) were analyzed, and divinylbenzene (DVB) was used to accelerate the conversion process of the precursor and contribute to the formation of HECs, which also provided a partial carbon source for the nanowire growth. Additionally, multi-branched, single-branched, and single-branched bending nanowires were synthesized by adjusting the ratio of PHECs to DVB. The obtained single-branched (Ti0.2Zr0.2Hf0.2Nb0.2Ta0.2)C nanowires possessed smooth surfaces with an average diameter of 130–150 nm and a length of several tens of micrometers, which were a single-crystal structure and typically grew along the [11¯1] direction. Also, the growth of the (Ti0.2Zr0.2Hf0.2Nb0.2Ta0.2)C nanowires was in agreement with top-type vapor–liquid–solid mechanism. This work not only successfully achieved the fabrication of HEC nanowires by a catalyst-assisted polymer pyrolysis, but also provided a comprehensive analysis of the factors affecting their yield and morphology, highlighting the potential application of these attractive nano-materials.

Pelophylax plancyi (Lataste, 1880), Pelophylax chosenicus (Okada, 1931) and Pelophylax hubeiensis (Fei & Ye, 1982) were described chronologically from East Asia. The three species have similar morphological and molecular characteristics, but the taxonomic relationships amongst them have long been ambiguous. To deal with this taxonomic issue, we examined newly-obtained topotypic specimens of P. plancyi, P. chosenicus and P. hubeiensis for morphological comparison. Furthermore, we investigated the phylogeny of pond frogs in Eurasia by Bayesian Inference and Maximum Likelihood analyses of a fragment consisting of mitochondrial DNA gene 16s and provided a molecular phylogeny of the genus Pelophylax. There were no morphological and molecular differences between P. plancyi and P. chosenicus, but both morphological and molecular differences between P. hubeiensis and P. plancyi. Hence, we conclude that P. chosenicus is a junior synonym of P. plancyi and P. hubeiensis is a separate species from P. plancyi.

With the rise of the Internet of Things (IoT), maintaining data confidentiality and protecting user privacy have become increasingly challenging. End devices in the IoT are often deployed in unattended environments and connected to open networks, making them vulnerable to physical tampering and other security attacks. Different authentication key agreement (AKA) schemes have been used in practice; several of them do not cover the necessary security features or are incompatible with resource-constrained end devices. Their security proofs have been performed under the Random-Oracle model. We present an AKA protocol for end devices and servers. The proposal leverages the ECC-based key exchange mechanism and one-way hash function-based message authentication method to achieve mutual authentication, user anonymity, and forward security. A formal security proof of the proposed scheme is performed under the standard model and the eCK model with the elliptic curve encryption computational assumptions, and formal verification is performed with ProVerif. According to the performance comparison, it is revealed that the proposed scheme offers user anonymity, perfect forward security, and mutual authentication, and resists typical attacks such as ephemeral secret leakage attacks, impersonation attacks, man-in-the-middle attacks, and key compromise impersonation attacks. Moreover, the proposed scheme has the lowest computational and communication overhead compared to existing schemes.

AimThe aim of this study is to investigate the effect of modified observation-teaching-discussion pedagogy combined with microteaching on improving the critical thinking ability of nursing interns in China.MethodsTwo hundred baccalaureate nursing students practicing in the department of neurosurgery were divided into two groups chronologically, with 100 students per group. The control group received traditional clinical mentoring while their counterparts in the intervention group received mentoring by modified observation teaching discussion pedagogy combined with microteaching. Then, we compared the two groups with respect to theoretical knowledge and nursing operation skills. Abstract Background The application of clinical mNGS for diagnosing respiratory infections improves etiology diagnosis, however at the same time, it brings new challenges as an unbiased sequencing method informing all identified microbiomes in the specimen. Methods Strategy evaluation and metagenomic analysis were performed for the mNGS data generated between March 2017 and October 2019. Diagnostic strengths of four specimen types were assessed to pinpoint the more appropriate type for mNGS diagnosis of respiratory infections. Microbiome complexity was revealed between patient cohorts and infection types. A bioinformatic pipeline resembling diagnosis results was built based upon multiple bioinformatic parameters. Results The positive predictive values (PPVs) for mNGS diagnosing of non-mycobacterium, Nontuberculous Mycobacteria (NTM), and Aspergillus were obviously higher in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) demonstrating the potency of BALF in mNGS diagnosis. Lung tissues and sputum were acceptable for diagnosis of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) infections. Interestingly, significant taxonomy differences were identified in sufficient BALF specimens, and unique bacteriome and virome compositions were found in the BALF specimens of tumor patients. Our pipeline showed comparative diagnostic strength with the clinical microbiological diagnosis. Conclusions To achieve reliable mNGS diagnosis result, BALF specimens for suspicious common infections, and lung tissues and sputum for doubtful MTB infections are recommended to avoid the false results given by the complexed respiratory microbiomes. Our developed bioinformatic pipeline successful helps mNGS data interpretation and reduces manual corrections for etiology diagnosis.

Context Puerarin (Pue) and tanshinone IIA (Tan IIA) are often used in combination in the treatment of cerebrovascular diseases.Objective To investigate the neuroprotective effect and synergic mechanism of Pue-Tan IIA on the treatment of ischaemic stroke (IS).Materials and methods IS was induced in rats by middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO). Rats were intraperitoneally injected with Pue (36 mg/kg), Tan IIA (7.2 mg/kg), or Pue-Tan IIA (36 and 7.2 mg/kg) for five times [30 min before ischaemia, immediately after reperfusion (0 h), 24, 48, and 72 h after reperfusion]. After administration, neurological function assessment and histological changes in the brain were performed. S-100β and NSE levels were measured to determine the severity of brain injury. Oxidative stress parameters and inflammatory mediators were measured. Understanding the adoption patterns of clean energy is crucial for designing government subsidies that promote the use of these technologies. Existing work has examined a variety of adoption models to explain and predict how economic factors and other technology and demographic attributes influence adoption, helping to understand the cost-effectiveness of government policies. This study explores the impact of adoption modeling choices on optimal subsidy design within a single techno–economic framework for residential solar PV technology. We applied identical datasets to multiple adoption models and evaluated which model forms appear feasible and how using different choices affects policy decisions. We consider three existing functional forms for rooftop solar adoption: an error function, a mixed log-linear regression, and a logit demand function. The explanatory variables used are a combination of net present value (NPV), socio-demographic, and prior adoption. We compare how the choice of model form and explanatory variables affect optimal subsidy choices. Among the feasible model forms, there exist justified subsidies for residential solar, though the detailed schedule varies. Optimal subsidy schedules are highly dependent on the social cost of carbon and the learning rate. A learning rate of 10% and a social carbon cost of USD 50/ton suggest an optimal subsidy starting at USD 46/kW, while the initial subsidy is 10× higher (USD 540/kW) with a learning rate of 15% and social carbon cost of USD 70/ton. This work illustrates the importance of understanding the true drivers of adoption when developing clean energy policies.

Introduction: Hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF)1α has been shown to be activated and induces a glycolytic shift under hypoxic condition, however, little attention was paid to the role of HIF1α-actuated fructolysis in hypoxia-induced heart injury. Objectives: In this study, we aim to explore the molecular mechanisms of miR-155-mediated fructose metabolism in hypoxic cardiac fibroblasts (CFs). Methods: Immunostaining, western blot and quantitative real-time reverse transcription PCR (qRT-PCR) were performed to detect the expression of glucose transporter 5 (GLUT5), ketohexokinase (KHK)-A and KHK-C in miR-155−/− and miR-155wt CFs under normoxia or hypoxia. A microarray analysis of circRNAs was performed to identify circHIF1α. Then CoIP, RIP and mass spectrometry analysis were performed and identified SKIV2L2 (MTR4) and transformer 2 alpha (TRA2A), a member of the transformer 2 homolog family. pAd-SKIV2L2 was administrated after coronary artery ligation to investigate whether SKIV2L2 can provide a protective effect on the infarcted heart. Results: When both miR-155−/− and miR-155wt CFs were exposed to hypoxia for 24 h, these two cells exhibited an increased glycolysis and decreased glycogen synthesis, and the expression of KHK-A and KHK-C, the central fructose-metabolizing enzyme, was upregulated. Mechanistically, miR-155 deletion in CFs enhanced SKIV2L2 expression and its interaction with TRA2A, which suppresses the alternative splicing of HIF1α pre-mRNA to form circHIF1α, and then decreased circHIF1α contributed to the activation of fructose metabolism through increasing the production of the KHK-C isoform. Finally, exogenous delivery of SKIV2L2 reduced myocardial damage in the infarcted heart. Conclusion: In this study, we demonstrated that miR-155 deletion facilitates the activation of fructose metabolism in hypoxic CFs through regulating alternative splicing of HIF1α pre-mRNA and thus circHIF1ɑ formation.

To accurately describe the undeformed chip thickness characteristics in ultrasonic vibration assisted grinding, the grain space and grain protrusion height of a metal bond multi-layer diamond wheel were measured. According to the particle trajectory equation of ultrasonic vibration assisted grinding and the trajectory interference theory of two nearby grains, the undeformed chip thickness in a complete grain-workpiece contact zone was solved by using the bisector method and MATLAB software. Then the influence of the main parameters on the undeformed chip thickness characteristics was analyzed. The results show that the undeformed chip thickness varies linearly against the distance between adjacent grains and the height difference of adjacent grains, increases linearly with the increase of ultrasonic amplitude and changes periodically with the increase of ultrasonic vibration frequency. In ultrasonic vibration assisted grinding, the undeformed chip thickness characteristics are greatly affected by the grinding wheel speed and grinding depth, and relatively less affected by the workpiece feed speed.

Abstract Background Hyperlactatemia is associated with a poor prognosis in cardiac surgery patients. This study explored the impact of target blood pressure management during cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) on blood lactate levels after cardiac surgery. Methods Adult patients undergoing cardiac valve surgery between 20/1/2020 and 30/6/2020 at Shanghai Chest Hospital were enrolled. The patients were randomized into a low mean arterial pressure (L-MAP) group (target MAP between 50 and 60 mmHg) or a high mean arterial pressure (H-MAP) group (target MAP between 70 and 80 mmHg), n = 20 for each. Norepinephrine was titrated only during CPB to maintain MAP at the target level. Blood lactate levels in the two groups were detected before the operation (T0), at the end of CPB (T1), at the end of the operation (T2), 1 h after the operation (T3), 6 h after the operation (T4) and 24 h after the operation (T5). The primary outcome was the blood lactate level at the end of the operation (T2). The secondary outcomes included the blood lactate level at T1, T3, T4, and T5 and the dose of epinephrine and dopamine within 24 h after the operation, time to extubation, length of stay in the ICU, incidence of readmission within 30 days, and mortality within 1 year. Results Forty patents were enrolled and analyzed in the study. The lactate level in the H-MAP group was significantly lower than that in the L-MAP group at the end of the operation (3.1 [IQR 2.1, 5.0] vs. 2.1 [IQR 1.7, 2.9], P = 0.008) and at the end of CPB and 1 hour after surgery. The dose of epinephrine within 24 h after the operation, time to extubation and length of stay in the ICU in the L-MAP group were significantly higher than those in the H-MAP group. Conclusions Maintaining a relatively higher MAP during CPB deceased the blood lactate level at the end of surgery, reduced epinephrine consumption, and shortened the time to extubation and length of stay in the ICU after surgery. Trial registration This single-center, prospective, RCT has completed the registration of the Chinese Clinical Trial Center at 8/1/2020 with the registration number ChiCTR2000028941 . It was conducted from 20/1/2020 to 30/6/2020 as a single, blinded trial in Shanghai Chest Hospital.

The glandular secretory trichomes (GSTs) on the leaves of A. annua secrete and store artemisinin. Previous research has demonstrated that raising GST density can effectively raise artemisinin content. However, the molecular mechanism of GST initiation is not fully understood yet. In this study, we identified an MYB transcription factor, the AaMYB108-like, which is co-induced by light and jasmonic acid, and positively regulates glandular secretory trichome initiation in A. annua. Overexpression of the AaMYB108-like gene in A. annua increased GST density and enhanced the artemisinin content, whereas anti-sense of the AaMYB108-like gene resulted in the reduction in GST density and artemisinin content. Further experiments demonstrated that the AaMYB108-like gene could form a complex with AaHD8 to promote the expression of downstream AaHD1, resulting in the initiation of GST. Taken together, the AaMYB108-like gene is a positive regulator induced by light and jasmonic acid for GST initiation in A. annua.

Recently, Heptafluoroisobutyronitrile (C4F7N) has received widespread attention in replacing one of the most greenhouse-insulating gas, SF6. However, gas leakage is incredibly harmful to the health of operational personnel and the security of industry production, and developing C4F7N detection technology is of great necessity. In this work, the adsorption properties, as well as the sensing performance of C4F7N on 3d VIII atom-decorated γ-graphyne (γ-GY), were theoretically discussed. The adsorption structures, adsorption energies, electron transfer, adsorption distance, electron distribution, and electronic properties were compared. The results show that the introduction of Fe and Co atom enhance the chemisorption of C4F7N, and the adsorption of C4F7N brings the maximum electron redistribution of Fe/γ-GY among three TM/γ-GY. Only the adsorption on Fe/γ-GY leads to the vanishing of the magnetic moment and creates a band gap. For three different modifications of γ-GY, the chemical interactions are highly related to the overlapping of transition metal 3d and N 2p orbitals in the density of states. The adsorption on Co/γ-GY causes the maximum change in work function from 5.06 eV to 5.26 eV. In addition, based on the band structure, work function, and desorption properties, the sensing properties of 3d VIII atom-decorated γ-GY were evaluated in order to promote the experimental exploration and development of high-performance C4F7N gas sensors.

Background: In COVID-19 patients, information regarding superinfection, antimicrobial assessment, and the value of metagenomic sequencing (MS) could help develop antimicrobial stewardship. Method: This retrospective study analyzed 323 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 patients for co-infection rate and antimicrobial usage in the Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center (SPHCC) from January 23rd to March 14th 2020. The microbiota composition was also investigated in patients with critically severe COVID-19. Results: The total population co-infection rate was 17/323 (5.3%) and 0/229 (0), 4/78 (5.1%), and 13/16 (81.3%) for the mild, severe, and critically severe subgroups, respectively. Proven fungal infection was significantly associated with a higher mortality rate (p = 0.029). In critically severe patients, the rate of antimicrobials and carbapenem usage were 16/16 (100%) and 13/16 (81.3%), respectively, in which the preemptive and empiric antimicrobial days accounted for 51.6% and 30.1%, respectively. Targeted therapy only accounted for 18.3%. MS was implemented to detect non-COVID-19 virus co-existence and the semi-quantitative surveillance of bacteremia, with clear clinical benefit seen in cases with MS-based precision antimicrobial management. Airway microbiome analysis suggested that the microbiota compositions in critically severe COVID-19 patients were likely due to intubation and mechanical ventilation. Conclusions: In the SPHCC cohort, we observed a non-negligible rate of super-infection, especially for the critically ill COVID-19 patients. Fungal co-infection requires intensive attention due to the high risk of mortality, and the clinical benefit of MS in guiding antimicrobial management warrants further investigation.

ObjectiveTo compare the diagnostic accuracy of metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) for cryptococcosis in patients with different immune statuses with that of conventional detection.MethodsA total of 1442 specimens including 71 specimens from patients with cryptococcosis were analyzed in the study. The chi square test was used to screen the sensitivity and specificity of different detection methods for different specimen types. One-way ANOVA was used to compare the mNGS results with age, CD4, lymphocytes, IFN, IL-6, IL-2 and serum antigen assay.ResultsThe sensitivity of mNGS was 44.29% in Cryptococcus infection cases. The positive rate of mNGS results for bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF, 87.50%) from immunocompromised patients was higher than that of BALF from immunocompetent patients (40.00%, p=0.04). The sensitivity of the serum Cryptococcus capsular antigen assay was 80.00% in immunocompetent patients and 96.42% in immunocompromised patients (p = 0.049). A positive rate of detection of Cryptococcus from mNGS was higher when cryptococcal antigen ≥1:160 (p=0.022) in immunocompromised patients. A positive rate of detection of Cryptococcus from mNGS was higher when lymphocyte counts were lower in both immunocompetent patients(p=0.017) and in immunocompromised patients(p=0.029).ConclusionsThe sensitivity of mNGS is lower than that of serum cryptococcal antigen assay and histopathology in immunocompetent patients. However, BALF detection is recommend for immunocompromised patients compared with tissue and CSF. The positive mNGS result was correlated with lower lymphocyte counts, higher IL-2 and higher serum antigen assay in immunocompromised patients.

Spotted fever group (SFG) rickettsioses are important zoonoses, threatening human health seriously and gradually attracting more attention in the world. SFG rickettsiae are classified as neglected pathogens. If these pathogens are detected at all, they are usually recognized very late in the infection through indirect detection of specific antibodies. Previous studies have shown that Rickettsia raoultii (R. raoultii), a member of the SFG rickettsiae, occurs with increasing incidence in remote countries. Therefore, a rapid detection method for R. raoultii is in urgently need. In this study, a R. raoultii diagnosis method by closed dumbbell-mediated isothermal amplification (R-CDA) assay targeting a conserved sequence of the outer membrane protein A (OmpA) gene with high sensitivity and specificity was developed. This assay offered a rapid and simple method for on-site detection of R. raoultii. Firstly, four pairs of R-CDA primers were designed and the optimum primer set was selected to amplify target gene specifically and effectively. Then, a pair of outer primer was designed to accelerate the reaction based on the inner primers to establish the RO-CDA reaction. In addition, the results of real-time amplification curves, melting curves and end-point colorimetric judgements showed that the established visual RO-CDA reaction could accurately detect R. raoultii without cross-reaction with other closely related pathogens. Furthermore, the detection limit of visual RO-CDA assay was 10 copies/μL, which was feasible for on-site detection with merits of easy-operation, rapidity, high sensitivity, and specificity. In conclusion, the developed RO-CDA detection method could be helpful for pathogen screening and epidemic prevention at the point of care.

The plant Artemisia annua is well known for its production of artemisinin, a sesquiterpene lactone that is an effective antimalarial compound. Although remarkable progress has been made toward understanding artemisinin biosynthesis, the effect of MADS-box family transcription factors on artemisinin biosynthesis is still poorly understood. In this study, we identified a MADS transcription factor, AaSEP4, that was predominantly expressed in trichome. AaSEP4 acts as a nuclear-localized transcriptional activator activating the expression of AaGSW1 (GLANDULAR TRICHOME-SPECIFIC WRKY1). Dual-luciferase and Yeast one-hybrid assays revealed that AaSEP4 directly bound to the CArG motif in the promoter region of AaGSW1. Overexpression of AaSEP4 in A. annua significantly induced the expression of AaGSW1 and four artemisinin biosynthesis genes, including amorpha-4,11-diene synthase (ADS), cytochrome P450 monooxygenase (CYP71AV1), double-bond reductase 2 (DBR2) and aldehyde dehydrogenase 1 (ALDH1). Furthermore, the results of high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) showed that the artemisinin content was significantly increased in the AaSEP4-overexpressed plants. In addition, RT-qPCR results showed that AaSEP4 was induced by methyl jasmonic acid (MeJA) treatment. Taken together, these results explicitly demonstrate that AaSEP4 is a positive regulator of artemisinin biosynthesis, which can be used in the development of high-artemisinin yielding A. annua varieties.

Nucleic acid–based assays have been adopted as mainstream tools for clinical diagnostics, food safety, and environment monitoring with the merits of accuracy, rapidity, and sensitivity. Loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) is a well-established method to rapidly identify nucleic acids and has gained recognition and been developed for clinical applications in resource-limited areas. However, the needs for specifically designed primer sets and non-specific amplification hinder the development of LAMP-based nucleic acid tests. Here, a promoted method, termed asymmetric stem-loop–mediated isothermal amplification (ASLAMP) by simple modification of canonical PCR primers, was developed to attempt to overcome those drawbacks. The two primers in the ASLAMP reaction can be easily obtained by adding a stem-loop sequence part to one PCR primer at 5′-ends to get the folding primer (FP), then adding the same primer to the counter canonical PCR primer at 5′-ends to get the turn-back primer (TP). The ASLAMP method was demonstrated in detecting the H1N1 gene fragment with merits of simple primer design, short target sequence, and high amplification efficiency. In addition, the ASLAMP method showed similar efficacy compared with LAMP targeting at the same H1N1 gene sequence. Furthermore, Shigella detection monitored by real-time fluorescence and endpoint colorimetric approaches were taken as examples for evaluation of the practical application of the ASLAMP method, both offered 100% sensitivity and specificity. In conclusion, the novel ASLAMP method with simplicity of primer design, low requirement of equipment, efficiency, and rapidity has exhibited its great prospect for establishment of DNA isothermal amplification in point of care application.

BackgroundMetagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) has emerged as an effective method for the noninvasive and precise detection of infectious pathogens. However, data are lacking on whether mNGS analyses could be used for the diagnosis and treatment of infection during the perioperative period in patients undergoing liver transplantation (LT).MethodsFrom February 2018 to October 2018, we conducted an exploratory study using mNGS and traditional laboratory methods (TMs), including culture, serologic assays, and nucleic acid testing, for pathogen detection in 42 pairs of cadaveric liver donors and their corresponding recipients. Multiple functional-material-filled nitrile butadiene rubber/chloroprene rubber (NBR/CR) acoustic composites were extensively studied and prepared. According to the orthogonal test table L25 (56), 25 groups of samples were prepared by using a low-temperature one-time rubber mixing process. With tensile strength, average transmission loss, and damping peak as indexes, the influence degree of different factors and levels on the properties of acoustic composites was quantitatively discussed and analyzed. The matrix weight analysis was employed to optimize the material formula of rubber composites, and the corresponding influence weight was given. Results showed that the acoustic composite with blending ratio of 70/30 for NBR/CR matrix had preferable mechanical and acoustic properties; adding mica powder (MP) and montmorillonite (MMT) in matrix contributed to improve all above three indexes owing to their specific lamellar structures; hollow glass beads (HGB) had a positive influence on improving acoustic property due to its hollow microcavities, however, it had a negative impact on damping property because of the smooth spherical surfaces. Accordingly, the optimal formulation was found to be NBR/CR blending ratio of 70/30, MP of 10 phr (per hundred rubber), HGB of 4 phr, and MMT of 10 phr.

Technical methods such as cast thin section identification, scanning electron microscopy, constant rate mercury intrusion, X-ray diffraction, fluid inclusion homogenization temperature measurement, laser Raman component analysis and illite isotope dating were used to analyze the densification process of Huagang Formation in the northern and central Xihu Sag of the East China Sea Shelf Basin. The controlling factors of reservoir densification were discussed. The reservoir heterogeneity of the Huagang Formation is controlled by the pore throat structure, and the reservoir with a throat radius less than 1 μm is regarded as a tight reservoir. Burial compaction is the main reason for the generally low permeability and tightness of reservoirs, and differential diagenesis aggravates the differential evolution of reservoirs. When the formation temperature exceeds 160℃, the inhibition of cementation by the ring chlorite is significantly weakened. The alkaline closed environment of the middle diagenesis B stage makes a large amount of iron-containing carbonate, pom-shaped chlorite and bridging illite enriched and directly blocks the throats, resulting in large-scale tight reservoirs in the Huagang Formation. Recovering the key diagenetic evolution process of the Huagang Formation reservoirs, it is speculated that the H4 and H5 sand formations of the Huagang Formation entered large-scale compaction during 9-7 Ma, and the strong lateral compression of the Longjing Movement accelerated the densification process.

Abstract Background Early alarm of hypoglycemia, detection of asymptomatic hypoglycemia, and effective control of blood glucose fluctuation make a great contribution to diabetic treatment. In this study, we designed a multi-level hypoglycemia early alarm system to mine potential information in Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) time series and improve the overall alarm performance for different clinical situations. Methods Through symbolizing the historical CGM records, the Prefix Span was adopted to obtain the early alarm/non-alarm frequent sequence libraries of hypoglycemia events. The longest common subsequence was used to remove the common frequent sequence for achieving the hypoglycemia early alarm in different clinical situations. Then, the frequent sequence pattern libraries with different risk thresholds were designed as the core module of the proposed multi-level hypoglycemia early alarm system. Results The model was able to predict hypoglycemia events in the clinical dataset of level-I (sensitivity 85.90%, false-positive 23.86%, miss alarm rate 14.10%, average early alarm time 20.61 min), level-II (sensitivity 80.36%, false-positive 17.37%, miss alarm rate 19.63%, average early alarm time 27.66 min), and level-III (sensitivity 78.07%, false-positive 13.59%, miss alarm rate 21.93%, average early alarm time 33.80 min), respectively. Conclusions The proposed approach could effectively predict hypoglycemia events based on different risk thresholds to meet different prevention and treatment requirements. Moreover, the experimental results confirm the practicality and prospects of the proposed early alarm system, which reflects further significance in personalized medicine for hypoglycemia prevention.

Gradient structures have been created in single crystal nickel-based superalloys (SX alloys) via surface mechanical creep-feed grinding treatment (SMCGT). It has been found that these gradient structures are mainly composed of nano-sized grains, sub-micron-sized grains, dislocation structures, and the matrix material of single crystals along the depth from the treated surface. In addition, the evolution of such structures is found to be dominated by the dislocation movements which run through both γ channels and γ’ precipitates, subdividing the two types of microstructures into various dislocation structures, and eventually introducing the refined grains into the surface layer. Furthermore, the evolution process of gradient structures primarily originates from the mechanical effect between abrasive grits and workpiece material, owing to the large grinding force (up to 529 N) and low grinding temperature (less than 150 °C) during the unique creep-feed grinding treatment in the present investigation. Due to the typical grain refinement, the hardness of the nanostructures exhibits the largest value of around 10 GPa in the surface layer, approximately 26% higher than that of the matrix material. This study further enhances the understanding of the microstructure–property relationship of SX alloys subjected to creep-feed grinding treatment and contributes to achievement of high-performance components.

Background: Metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS), with its comprehensiveness, is widely applied in microbiological diagnosis. Etiological diagnosis is of paramount clinical importance in patients with skin and soft tissue infections (SSTIs). However, the clinical application of mNGS in SSTIs is relatively less studied. Materials and methods: From April 1, 2017 to December 31, 2019, 96 SSTI cases were collected. The positive rates of pathogens detected by mNGS and culture were compared by analyzing tissue samples, pus, swabs, and/or interstitial fluids obtained from the infected parts. Modification of the antibiotic treatment strategy due to mNGS was also assessed. Results: The sensitivity of mNGS for detecting pathogens in SSTI cases was superior to that of culture testing (67.7% vs 35.4%; p < 0.01). Significantly higher identification rates for viruses (10.4% vs 0.0%; p < 0.01) and anaerobes (11.5% vs 1.0%; p < 0.01) were obtained with mNGS compared to culture. Of note, rare pathogens such as Vibrio vulnificus and Bartonella henselae were also detected by mNGS. Importantly, the proportion of multi-pathogen SSTIs detected by mNGS was higher than that of multi-pathogen SSTIs detected by culture (16.7% vs 6.3%; p = 0.035). The rate of targeted antibiotic treatment was significantly higher in mNGS-positive cases than in mNGS-negative cases (41.7% vs 3.8%; p < 0.01). In culture-negative and mNGS-positive cases, the improvement rate was higher than that in mNGS-negative cases, but this was not statistically significant (75.0% vs 73.1%; p = 0.864). Conclusions: mNGS is a promising tool for the etiological diagnosis of SSTIs, particularly in identifying viruses, anaerobes, and multi-pathogen infections. The application of mNGS testing in clinical practice could change antibiotic treatment strategies and partly benefit clinical outcomes.

This paper is concerned with the existence of solutions for p-Laplace problems with non-local term. We prove the sub-supersolution theorem using the pseudomonotone operator theorem and Minty–Browder theorem with appropriate assumptions on M,gii=1,2. Then, using the sub-supersolution approach, we determine the existence of positive solutions to specific problems.

This paper mainly considers a communication network with multiple-input single-output (MISO), in which nonorthogonal multiple access (NOMA) decoding technology is adopted, and wireless power-carrying technology is used to enhance the transmission quality of user information in the communication network. Through joint optimization of power splitting ratio and beamforming vector, we aim at minimizing transmission power (base station transmit power and secondary transmit power) while satisfying the quality-of-service requirement of all users and minimum power for secondary transmission. The problem is a nonconvex optimization program, and it is difficult to get the optimal value directly. First, in order to solve the problem for two-user case, the original problem is transformed into a semidefinite programming (SDP) problem, and then, the iterative updating algorithm is used to approximate the optimal value. When the number of users is greater than two, the original problem is transformed into a second-order cone problem, in which we deal with a sequence of second-order cone programming (SOCP). Results verify that the optimal value of the sequence of SOCPs is not increasing and converges to a local optimal value. Detailed simulation experiments indicate that the algorithm improves the performance of NOMA downlink beamforming under the condition of enhancing information and eliminating network interference.

Abstract Background The objectives of present study were to examine the level of disagreement between self-reported and objective measurement of sensitization to common inhalant allergens, and to explore the potential risk factors that might contribute to this discrepancy. Methods A total of 215 children were enrolled from pediatric clinics at a tertiary pediatric center in Beijing, China. A survey questionnaires regarding self-perceived sensitization was completed by participants’ parents/caregiver, meanwhile, skin prick testing(SPT) was performed as objective assessment of sensitization. Extent of agreement between self-reported versus SPT-measured sensitization to individual allergen was calculated using Cohen’s kappa (κ) coefficient. Multivariable regression analyses were used to determine the factors associated with discrepancy between self-reported and objective measurement of sensitization. Results 119(55.3%) patients have reported to be sensitized to at least one of inhalant allergen, whereas 167(77.7%) patients had a positive skin testing response. Agreement between self-perceived and actual aeroallergen sensitization was moderate for mites(κ = 0.518) and grass pollen mix(κ = 0.451), moreover, fair agreement was observed for mold(κ = 0.316) and cockroach(κ = 0.297), respectively. There was a least agreement between perceived and actual sensitization observed for pet dander, with a kappa coefficient of 0.005. Subjects’ age, atopy history, ownership of pet may increase the risk of disagreement, moreover, background factors of informant, like: age, education level, and the relationship with enrolled subjects, were linked to the incidence of disagreement between self-reported sensitization in comparison with SPT results. Conclusion Questionnaire-based self-assessment is easy way to collect clinical information on allergen sensitization; however, the accuracy of questionnaire-derived information is more likely to be influenced by respondent’s background factors. The information from the questionnaire report is considered to be more reliable when in combination with objective assessment of sensitization, including blood IgE testing and SPT.

Introduction: In the past two decades, urbanization in many Asian countries has led to sedentary lifestyle and overnutrition, which has set the stage for the epidemic of obesity. Those who have obesity during adolescence usually have obesity into adulthood, which causes many medical and psychological issues that can result in premature death. Recent data suggest that short sleep duration may contribute to the risk of obesity, opening a new avenue for potential intervention. The aim of this study was to describe the prevalence of sleeping time, body mass index (BMI), and fat mass in Chinese freshmen and to indicate the relationship among them. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study consisting of 1,938 freshmen aged from 18 to 24 years, including 684 (35.3%) men and 1,254 (64.7%) women. BMI, sleeping time, and other potential related variables were collected by questionnaire. Obesity and overweight were defined as BMI ≥28.0 and ≥24.0, respectively. All students were divided into three groups according to the tertiles of body fat percentage (Fat%), which were measured by bioelectrical impedance analysis. Sleeping time was divided into 3 categories based on the duration, 8 h per day. Results: Participants who slept longer had lower BMI and Fat%. Sex, diet control, and maternal obesity were all significantly associated with BMI or Fat% after adjustment. There were significant differences between sleeping time 8 h in both overweight group and Fat% tertiles independent of adjustment used. The significant difference between sleeping time 6–8 and >8 h only existed in overweight group, while irrelevant relation was observed in both models of obesity group. Conclusion: Longer sleeping time was associated with a lower BMI in Chinese freshmen, even after adjustment for multiple confounders. The overweight stage is a critical period of weight management intervention by changing sleeping time. If adolescents have entered the obesity stage, the effect size of lifestyle intervention might be significantly limited.

In order to analyze the effect of final cooling temperature on the wax deposition laws of the crude oil modified with additives, keep the same temperature difference of oil wall and control different final cooling temperatures, static wax deposition contrast test and dynamic shear contrast test were carried out on Daqing oil with nano pour point depressant, Daqing oil with EVA pour point depressant and Daqing blank oil using the wax deposition device of agitation tank, rheometer, differential scanning calorimeter and other test instruments. Then, based on the mechanisms of molecular diffusion and gelling, the wax deposition laws of Daqing oil modified with additives under different experimental conditions were investigated. It is shown that when the final cooling temperature is lower, the blank oil is low in the total wax deposition but its wax crystal structure is stronger; while the oil with additives is significantly higher than the blank oil in the total wax deposition, but there is more condensate in the total amount of wax deposition and the wax crystal structure is weaker. With the increase of the final cooling temperature, the wax deposition in the oil with additives and that in the blank oil decrease gradually and tend to be consistent. When the final cooling temperature is lower and the shear peel strength is weaker, the addition of pour point depressant can increase the wax deposition of pipeline transportation. And once the shear is high or the final cooling temperature is increased, the wax deposition of the oil with additives will be reduced significantly and the safety of pipeline transportation will be improved.

BackgroundSolitary intracranial hypothalamic mass occurs rarely. The etiological diagnosis of solitary hypothalamus lesion is challenging and often unachievable. Although previous studies indicated that lesions affecting the hypothalamus often cause significant metabolic disorders, few reports about the metabolic disturbances of patients with solitary hypothalamic mass have been reported.MethodTwenty-five patients with solitary hypothalamus lesions who had been evaluated and treated in Huashan Hospital from January 2010 to December 2020 were retrospectively enrolled. The clinical manifestations, radiological features, endocrine and metabolic disorders, and pathology were analyzed.ResultsThe male to female ratio was 5/20. The median age of onset was 22 (19, 35) years old. The most common initial symptom was polydipsia/polyuria (19/25, 76.0%) and amenorrhea (9/20, 45.0%). A high prevalence of hypopituitarism of different axes was found, with almost all no less than 80%. Central hypogonadism (21/22, 95.5%) and central diabetes insipidus (19/21, 90.5%) were the top two pituitary dysfunctions. Conclusive diagnoses were achieved by intracranial surgical biopsy/resection or stereotactic biopsy in 16 cases and by examining extracranial lesions in 3 cases. The pathological results were various, and the most common diagnoses were Langerhans cell histiocytosis (7/19) and hypothalamitis (5/19). The mean timespan from onset to diagnosis in the 19 cases was 34 ± 26 months. Metabolic evaluations revealed remarkable metabolic disorders, including hyperlipidemia (13/16, 81.3%), hyperglycemia (10/16, 62.5%), hyperuricemia (12/20, 60%), overweight/obesity (13/20, 65.0%), and hepatic adipose infiltration (10/13, 76.6%).ConclusionEither surgical or stereotactic biopsy will be a reliable and relatively safe procedure to help to confirm the pathological diagnosis of solitary hypothalamic mass. Metabolic disorders were severe in patients with solitary hypothalamic mass. The management of such cases should cover both the treatment of the primary disease, as well as the endocrine and metabolic disorders

Background: Previous research suggested that Chinese Medicine (CM) Formula Huashibaidu granule might shorten the disease course in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients. This research aimed to investigate the early treatment effect of Huashibaidu granule in well-managed patients with mild COVID-19.Methods: An unblinded cluster-randomized clinical trial was conducted at the Dongxihu FangCang hospital. Two cabins were randomly allocated to a CM or control group, with 204 mild COVID-19 participants in each cabin. All participants received conventional treatment over a 7 day period, while the ones in CM group were additionally given Huashibaidu granule 10 g twice daily. Participants were followed up to their clinical endpoint. The primary outcome was worsening symptoms before the clinical endpoint. The secondary outcomes were cure and discharge before the clinical endpoint and alleviation of composite symptoms after the 7 days of treatment.Results: All 408 participants were followed up to their clinical endpoint and included in statistical analysis. Baseline characteristics were comparable between the two groups (P > 0.05). The number of worsening patients in the CM group was 5 (2.5%), and that in the control group was 16 (7.8%) with a significant difference between groups (P = 0.014). Eight foreseeable mild adverse events occurred without statistical difference between groups (P = 0.151).Conclusion: Seven days of early treatment with Huashibaidu granule reduced the likelihood of worsening symptoms in patients with mild COVID-19. Our study supports Huashibaidu granule as an active option for early treatment of mild COVID-19 in similar well-managed medical environments.Clinical Trial Registration:www.chictr.org.cn/showproj.aspx?proj=49408, identifier: ChiCTR2000029763.

Sepsis-induced cardiac injury (SIC) is one of the most common complications in the intensive care unit (ICU) with high morbidity and mortality. Mitochondrial dysfunction is one of the main reasons for SIC, and Interleukin-13 (IL-13) is a master regulator of mitochondria biogenesis. The aim of the present study was to investigate the role of IL-13 in SIC and explore the underlying mechanism. It was found that reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and apoptosis were significantly increased in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated primary cardiomyocytes, which was accompanied with obvious mitochondria dysfunction. The results of RNA-sequencing (RNA-seq), mitochondrial membrane potential, fatty acid uptake and oxidation rate suggested that treatment with IL-13 could restore the function and morphology of mitochondria, indicating that it played an important role in protecting septic cardiomyocytes. These findings demonstrated that IL-13 alleviated sepsis-induced cardiac inflammation and apoptosis by improving mitochondrial fatty acid uptake and oxidation, suggesting that IL-13 may prove to be a potential promising target for SIC treatment.

The involvement of cardiomyopathy during sepsis means higher mortality and prolonged length of hospital stay. Many efforts have been made to alleviate the apoptosis of cardiomyocytes in sepsis. The huge potential of IL-13 in tissue repair has attracted increasing attention. In the present study, we used LPS-treated mice or primary cardiomyocytes as a sepsis model to explore the anti-apoptotic ability of IL-13. It was found that an increased level of exogenous IL-13 was beneficial to the recovery of heart function in sepsis, and this anti-apoptotic effect of IL-13 was probably through enhancing the phosphorylation of STAT3 Ser727. In addition, we identified that the heart protective effect of IL-13 was associated with type 2 innate lymphocytes (ILC2). All these findings may provide a potential promising treatment for sepsis-induced cardiomyopathy.

Data-driven deep neural networks have demonstrated their superiority in high-resolution remote-sensing image (HRSI) classification based on superpixel-based objects. Currently, most HRSI classification methods that combine deep learning and superpixel object segmentation use multiple scales of stacking to satisfy the contextual semantic-information extraction of one analyzed object. However, this approach does not consider the long-distance dependencies between objects, which not only weakens the representation of feature information but also increases computational redundancy. To solve this problem, a superpixel-based long-range dependent network is proposed for HRSI classification. First, a superpixel segmentation algorithm is used to segment HRSI into homogeneous analysis objects as input. Secondly, a multi-channel deep convolutional neural network is proposed for the feature mapping of the analysis objects. Finally, we design a long-range dependent framework based on a long short-term memory (LSTM) network for obtaining contextual relationships and outputting classes of analysis objects. Additionally, we define the semantic range and investigate how it affects classification accuracy. A test is conducted by using two HRSI with overall accuracy (0.79, 0.76) and kappa coefficients (κ) (0.92, 0.89). Both qualitative and quantitative comparisons are adopted to test the proposed method’s efficacy. Findings concluded that the proposed method is competitive and consistently superior to the benchmark comparison method.

AZ31 magnesium alloy sheets with 2 mm thickness were successfully fabricated by multi-pass lowered-temperature rolling. The evolution of the microstructure, texture, and mechanical properties during the rolling process was investigated. Based on the effect of multiple dynamic recrystallization, multi-pass lowered-temperature rolling not only refined the grain size obviously but also markedly improved the microstructure homogeneity. The resulting sheets had the optimal microstructure morphology with an average grain size of 4.38 μm. For the texture evolution, the stress state of the rolling process made the (0002) basal plane gradually rotate toward the rolling plane. However, the activation of non-basal slips due to the higher rolling temperature slightly rotated the (0002) basal plane point to the rolling direction (RD). As a result, the grain refinement strengthening and the texture strengthening together increased the yield stress to 202 MPa in the transverse direction (TD) and 189.8 MPa in the RD. Importantly, the resulting sheet concurrently exhibited excellent fracture elongation, about 38% in the TD and 39.2% in the RD. This was mainly ascribed to the finer grain size, giving rise to a significant effect of grain boundary sliding and the activation amount of non-basal slips.
