The risk of harmful content generated by large language models (LLMs) becomes a critical concern. This paper presents a systematic study on assessing and improving LLMs' capability to perform the task of \textbf{course-correction}, \ie, the model can steer away from generating harmful content autonomously. To start with, we introduce the \textsc{C$^2$-Eval} benchmark for quantitative assessment and analyze 10 popular LLMs, revealing varying proficiency of current safety-tuned LLMs in course-correction. To improve, we propose fine-tuning LLMs with preference learning, emphasizing the preference for timely course-correction. Using an automated pipeline, we create \textsc{C$^2$-Syn}, a synthetic dataset with 750K pairwise preferences, to teach models the concept of timely course-correction through data-driven preference learning. Experiments on 2 LLMs, \textsc{Llama2-Chat 7B} and \textsc{Qwen2 7B}, show that our method effectively enhances course-correction skills without affecting general performance. The common toxicity and societal bias in contents generated by large language models (LLMs) necessitate strategies to reduce harm. Present solutions often demand white-box access to the model or substantial training, which is impractical for cutting-edge commercial LLMs. Moreover, prevailing prompting methods depend on external tool feedback and fail to simultaneously lessen toxicity and bias. Motivated by social psychology principles, we propose a novel strategy named \textbf{perspective-taking prompting (\textsc{PeT})} that inspires LLMs to integrate diverse human perspectives and self-regulate their responses. This self-correction mechanism can significantly diminish toxicity (up to $89\%$) and bias (up to $73\%$) in LLMs' responses. Rigorous evaluations and ablation studies are conducted on two commercial LLMs (ChatGPT and GLM) and three open-source LLMs, revealing \textsc{PeT}'s superiority in producing less harmful responses, outperforming five strong baselines.

We are witnessing a surge in the use of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware for cost-effective in-orbit computing, such as deep neural network (DNN) based on-satellite sensor data processing, Earth object detection, and task decision.However, once exposed to harsh space environments, COTS hardware is vulnerable to cosmic radiation and suffers from exhaustive single-event upsets (SEUs) and multi-unit upsets (MCUs), both threatening the functionality and correctness of in-orbit computing.Existing hardware and system software protections against radiation are expensive for resource-constrained COTS nanosatellites and overwhelming for upper-layer applications due to their requirement for heavy resource redundancy and frequent reboots. Instead, we make a case for cost-effective space radiation tolerance using application domain knowledge. Our solution for the on-satellite DNN tasks, \name, exploits the uneven SEU/MCU sensitivity across DNN layers and MCUs' spatial correlation for lightweight radiation-tolerant in-orbit AI computing. Our extensive experiments using Chaohu-1 SAR satellite payloads and a hardware-in-the-loop, real data-driven space radiation emulator validate that RedNet can suppress the influence of radiation errors to $\approx$ 0 and accelerate the on-satellite DNN inference speed by 8.4%-33.0% at negligible extra costs.

Inspired by the success of general-purpose models in NLP, recent studies attempt to unify different vision tasks in the same sequence format and employ autoregressive Transformers for sequence prediction. They apply uni-directional attention to capture sequential dependencies and generate task sequences recursively. However, such autoregressive Transformers may not fit vision tasks well, as vision task sequences usually lack the sequential dependencies typically observed in natural languages. In this work, we design Masked AutoDecoder~(MAD), an effective multi-task vision generalist. MAD consists of two core designs. First, we develop a parallel decoding framework that introduces bi-directional attention to capture contextual dependencies comprehensively and decode vision task sequences in parallel. Second, we design a masked sequence modeling approach that learns rich task contexts by masking and reconstructing task sequences. In this way, MAD handles all the tasks by a single network branch and a simple cross-entropy loss with minimal task-specific designs. Extensive experiments demonstrate the great potential of MAD as a new paradigm for unifying various vision tasks. MAD achieves superior performance and inference efficiency compared to autoregressive counterparts while obtaining competitive accuracy with task-specific models. Binary code similarity detection (BCSD) is a fundamental technique for various application. Many BCSD solutions have been proposed recently, which mostly are embedding-based, but have shown limited accuracy and efficiency especially when the volume of target binaries to search is large. To address this issue, we propose a cost-effective BCSD framework, CEBin, which fuses embedding-based and comparison-based approaches to significantly improve accuracy while minimizing overheads. Specifically, CEBin utilizes a refined embedding-based approach to extract features of target code, which efficiently narrows down the scope of candidate similar code and boosts performance. Then, it utilizes a comparison-based approach that performs a pairwise comparison on the candidates to capture more nuanced and complex relationships, which greatly improves the accuracy of similarity detection. By bridging the gap between embedding-based and comparison-based approaches, CEBin is able to provide an effective and efficient solution for detecting similar code (including vulnerable ones) in large-scale software ecosystems. Experimental results on three well-known datasets demonstrate the superiority of CEBin over existing state-of-the-art (SOTA) baselines. To further evaluate the usefulness of BCSD in real world, we construct a large-scale benchmark of vulnerability, offering the first precise evaluation scheme to assess BCSD methods for the 1-day vulnerability detection task. CEBin could identify the similar function from millions of candidate functions in just a few seconds and achieves an impressive recall rate of $85.46\%$ on this more practical but challenging task, which are several order of magnitudes faster and $4.07\times$ better than the best SOTA baseline. Binary code representation learning has shown significant performance in binary analysis tasks. But existing solutions often have poor transferability, particularly in few-shot and zero-shot scenarios where few or no training samples are available for the tasks. To address this problem, we present CLAP (Contrastive Language-Assembly Pre-training), which employs natural language supervision to learn better representations of binary code (i.e., assembly code) and get better transferability. At the core, our approach boosts superior transfer learning capabilities by effectively aligning binary code with their semantics explanations (in natural language), resulting a model able to generate better embeddings for binary code. To enable this alignment training, we then propose an efficient dataset engine that could automatically generate a large and diverse dataset comprising of binary code and corresponding natural language explanations. We have generated 195 million pairs of binary code and explanations and trained a prototype of CLAP. The evaluations of CLAP across various downstream tasks in binary analysis all demonstrate exceptional performance. Notably, without any task-specific training, CLAP is often competitive with a fully supervised baseline, showing excellent transferability. Segment Anything Models (SAMs) like SEEM and SAM have demonstrated great potential in learning to segment anything. The core design of SAMs lies with Promptable Segmentation, which takes a handcrafted prompt as input and returns the expected segmentation mask. SAMs work with two types of prompts including spatial prompts (e.g., points) and semantic prompts (e.g., texts), which work together to prompt SAMs to segment anything on downstream datasets. Despite the important role of prompts, how to acquire suitable prompts for SAMs is largely under-explored. In this work, we examine the architecture of SAMs and identify two challenges for learning effective prompts for SAMs. To this end, we propose spatial-semantic prompt learning (SSPrompt) that learns effective semantic and spatial prompts for better SAMs. Specifically, SSPrompt introduces spatial prompt learning and semantic prompt learning, which optimize spatial prompts and semantic prompts directly over the embedding space and selectively leverage the knowledge encoded in pre-trained prompt encoders. Extensive experiments show that SSPrompt achieves superior image segmentation performance consistently across multiple widely adopted datasets.

Traditional computer vision generally solves each single task independently by a dedicated model with the task instruction implicitly designed in the model architecture, arising two limitations: (1) it leads to task-specific models, which require multiple models for different tasks and restrict the potential synergies from diverse tasks; (2) it leads to a pre-defined and fixed model interface that has limited interactivity and adaptability in following user' task instructions. To address them, Visual Instruction Tuning (VIT) has been intensively studied recently, which finetunes a large vision model with language as task instructions, aiming to learn from a wide range of vision tasks described by language instructions a general-purpose multimodal model that can follow arbitrary instructions and thus solve arbitrary tasks specified by the user. This work aims to provide a systematic review of visual instruction tuning, covering (1) the background that presents computer vision task paradigms and the development of VIT; (2) the foundations of VIT that introduce commonly used network architectures, visual instruction tuning frameworks and objectives, and evaluation setups and tasks; (3) the commonly used datasets in visual instruction tuning and evaluation; (4) the review of existing VIT methods that categorizes them with a taxonomy according to both the studied vision task and the method design and highlights the major contributions, strengths, and shortcomings of them; (5) the comparison and discussion of VIT methods over various instruction-following benchmarks; (6) several challenges, open directions and possible future works in visual instruction tuning research.

Large language models (LLMs) encapsulate vast amounts of knowledge but still remain vulnerable to external misinformation. Existing research mainly studied this susceptibility behavior in a single-turn setting. However, belief can change during a multi-turn conversation, especially a persuasive one. Therefore, in this study, we delve into LLMs' susceptibility to persuasive conversations, particularly on factual questions that they can answer correctly. We first curate the Farm (i.e., Fact to Misinform) dataset, which contains factual questions paired with systematically generated persuasive misinformation. Then, we develop a testing framework to track LLMs' belief changes in a persuasive dialogue. Adversarial training (AT) is an important and attractive topic in deep learning security, exhibiting mysteries and odd properties. Recent studies of neural network training dynamics based on Neural Tangent Kernel (NTK) make it possible to reacquaint AT and deeply analyze its properties. In this paper, we perform an in-depth investigation of AT process and properties with NTK, such as NTK evolution. We uncover three new findings that are missed in previous works. First, we disclose the impact of data normalization on AT and the importance of unbiased estimators in batch normalization layers. Second, we experimentally explore the kernel dynamics and propose more time-saving AT methods. Third, we study the spectrum feature inside the kernel to address the catastrophic overfitting problem. To the best of our knowledge, it is the first work leveraging the observations of kernel dynamics to improve existing AT methods.

We present SPHINX, a versatile multi-modal large language model (MLLM) with a joint mixing of model weights, tuning tasks, and visual embeddings. First, for stronger vision-language alignment, we unfreeze the large language model (LLM) during pre-training, and introduce a weight mix strategy between LLMs trained by real-world and synthetic data. By directly integrating the weights from two domains, the mixed LLM can efficiently incorporate diverse semantics with favorable robustness. Then, to enable multi-purpose capabilities, we mix a variety of tasks for joint visual instruction tuning, and design task-specific instructions to avoid inter-task conflict. In addition to the basic visual question answering, we include more challenging tasks such as region-level understanding, caption grounding, document layout detection, and human pose estimation, contributing to mutual enhancement over different scenarios. Additionally, we propose to extract comprehensive visual embeddings from various network architectures, pre-training paradigms, and information granularity, providing language models with more robust image representations. Based on our proposed joint mixing, SPHINX exhibits superior multi-modal understanding capabilities on a wide range of applications. On top of this, we further propose an efficient strategy aiming to better capture fine-grained appearances of high-resolution images. With a mixing of different scales and high-resolution sub-images, SPHINX attains exceptional visual parsing and reasoning performance on existing evaluation benchmarks. Deep neural networks (DNNs) are widely deployed on real-world devices. Concerns regarding their security have gained great attention from researchers. Recently, a new weight modification attack called bit flip attack (BFA) was proposed, which exploits memory fault inject techniques such as row hammer to attack quantized models in the deployment stage. With only a few bit flips, the target model can be rendered useless as a random guesser or even be implanted with malicious functionalities. In this work, we seek to further reduce the number of bit flips. We propose a training-assisted bit flip attack, in which the adversary is involved in the training stage to build a high-risk model to release. This high-risk model, obtained coupled with a corresponding malicious model, behaves normally and can escape various detection methods. The results on benchmark datasets show that an adversary can easily convert this high-risk but normal model to a malicious one on victim's side by \textbf{flipping only one critical bit} on average in the deployment stage. Moreover, our attack still poses a significant threat even when defenses are employed. DNN accelerators have been widely deployed in many scenarios to speed up the inference process and reduce the energy consumption. One big concern about the usage of the accelerators is the confidentiality of the deployed models: model inference execution on the accelerators could leak side-channel information, which enables an adversary to preciously recover the model details. Such model extraction attacks can not only compromise the intellectual property of DNN models, but also facilitate some adversarial attacks. Although previous works have demonstrated a number of side-channel techniques to extract models from DNN accelerators, they are not practical for two reasons. (1) They only target simplified accelerator implementations, which have limited practicality in the real world. (2) They require heavy human analysis and domain knowledge. To overcome these limitations, this paper presents Mercury, the first automated remote side-channel attack against the off-the-shelf Nvidia DNN accelerator. The key insight of Mercury is to model the side-channel extraction process as a sequence-to-sequence problem. The adversary can leverage a time-to-digital converter (TDC) to remotely collect the power trace of the target model's inference. Then he uses a learning model to automatically recover the architecture details of the victim model from the power trace without any prior knowledge. The adversary can further use the attention mechanism to localize the leakage points that contribute most to the attack. Evaluation results indicate that Mercury can keep the error rate of model extraction below 1%.

Adversarial training is an important topic in robust deep learning, but the community lacks attention to its practical usage. In this paper, we aim to resolve a real-world challenge, i.e., training a model on an imbalanced and noisy dataset to achieve high clean accuracy and adversarial robustness, with our proposed Omnipotent Adversarial Training (OAT) strategy. OAT consists of two innovative methodologies to address the imperfection in the training set. We first introduce an oracle into the adversarial training process to help the model learn a correct data-label conditional distribution. This carefully-designed oracle can provide correct label annotations for adversarial training. We further propose logits adjustment adversarial training to overcome the data imbalance issue, which can help the model learn a Bayes-optimal distribution. Our comprehensive evaluation results show that OAT outperforms other baselines by more than 20% clean accuracy improvement and 10% robust accuracy improvement under complex combinations of data imbalance and label noise scenarios. Traditional domain adaptation assumes the same vocabulary across source and target domains, which often struggles with limited transfer flexibility and efficiency while handling target domains with different vocabularies. Inspired by recent vision-language models (VLMs) that enable open-vocabulary visual recognition by reasoning on both images and texts, we study open-vocabulary domain adaptation (OVDA), a new unsupervised domain adaptation framework that positions a pre-trained VLM as the source model and transfers it towards arbitrary unlabelled target domains. To this end, we design a Prompt Ensemble Self-training (PEST) technique that exploits the synergy between vision and language to mitigate the domain discrepancies in image and text distributions simultaneously. Specifically, PEST makes use of the complementary property of multiple prompts within and across vision and language modalities, which enables joint exploitation of vision and language information and effective learning of image-text correspondences in the unlabelled target domains. Additionally, PEST captures temporal information via temporal prompt ensemble which helps memorize previously learnt target information. Extensive experiments show that PEST outperforms the state-of-the-art consistently across 10 image recognition tasks.

Modern Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, led by Machine Learning (ML), have gained unprecedented momentum over the past decade. Following this wave of "AI summer", the network research community has also embraced AI/ML algorithms to address many problems related to network operations and management. However, compared to their counterparts in other domains, most ML-based solutions have yet to receive large-scale deployment due to insufficient maturity for production settings. This article concentrates on the practical issues of developing and operating ML-based solutions in real networks. Specifically, we enumerate the key factors hindering the integration of AI/ML in real networks and review existing solutions to uncover the missing considerations. Further, we highlight a promising direction, i.e., Machine Learning Operations (MLOps), that can close the gap. Bit-flip attacks (BFAs) have attracted substantial attention recently, in which an adversary could tamper with a small number of model parameter bits to break the integrity of DNNs. To mitigate such threats, a batch of defense methods are proposed, focusing on the untargeted scenarios. Unfortunately, they either require extra trustworthy applications or make models more vulnerable to targeted BFAs. Countermeasures against targeted BFAs, stealthier and more purposeful by nature, are far from well established. In this work, we propose Aegis, a novel defense method to mitigate targeted BFAs. The core observation is that existing targeted attacks focus on flipping critical bits in certain important layers. Thus, we design a dynamic-exit mechanism to attach extra internal classifiers (ICs) to hidden layers. This mechanism enables input samples to early-exit from different layers, which effectively upsets the adversary's attack plans. Moreover, the dynamic-exit mechanism randomly selects ICs for predictions during each inference to significantly increase the attack cost for the adaptive attacks where all defense mechanisms are transparent to the adversary. We further propose a robustness training strategy to adapt ICs to the attack scenarios by simulating BFAs during the IC training phase, to increase model robustness. Extensive evaluations over four well-known datasets and two popular DNN structures reveal that Aegis could effectively mitigate different state-of-the-art targeted attacks, reducing attack success rate by 5-10$\times$, significantly outperforming existing defense methods.

Modern information and communication systems have become increasingly challenging to manage. The ubiquitous system logs contain plentiful information and are thus widely exploited as an alternative source for system management. As log files usually encompass large amounts of raw data, manually analyzing them is laborious and error-prone. Consequently, many research endeavors have been devoted to automatic log analysis. However, these works typically expect structured input and struggle with the heterogeneous nature of raw system logs. Log parsing closes this gap by converting the unstructured system logs to structured records. Many parsers were proposed during the last decades to accommodate various log analysis applications. However, due to the ample solution space and lack of systematic evaluation, it is not easy for practitioners to find ready-made solutions that fit their needs. This paper aims to provide a comprehensive survey on log parsing. We begin with an exhaustive taxonomy of existing log parsers. Then we empirically analyze the critical performance and operational features for 17 open-source solutions both quantitatively and qualitatively, and whenever applicable discuss the merits of alternative approaches. We also elaborate on future challenges and discuss the relevant research directions. We envision this survey as a helpful resource for system administrators and domain experts to choose the most desirable open-source solution or implement new ones based on application-specific requirements.

Transforming off-the-shelf deep neural network (DNN) models into dynamic multi-exit architectures can achieve inference and transmission efficiency by fragmenting and distributing a large DNN model in edge computing scenarios (e.g., edge devices and cloud servers). In this paper, we propose a novel backdoor attack specifically on the dynamic multi-exit DNN models. Particularly, we inject a backdoor by poisoning one DNN model's shallow hidden layers targeting not this vanilla DNN model but only its dynamically deployed multi-exit architectures. Our backdoored vanilla model behaves normally on performance and cannot be activated even with the correct trigger. However, the backdoor will be activated when the victims acquire this model and transform it into a dynamic multi-exit architecture at their deployment. We conduct extensive experiments to prove the effectiveness of our attack on three structures (ResNet-56, VGG-16, and MobileNet) with four datasets (CIFAR-10, SVHN, GTSRB, and Tiny-ImageNet) and our backdoor is stealthy to evade multiple state-of-the-art backdoor detection or removal methods., Comment: Accepted to IEEE INFOCOM 2023

Binary code similarity detection (BCSD) has important applications in various fields such as vulnerability detection, software component analysis, and reverse engineering. Recent studies have shown that deep neural networks (DNNs) can comprehend instructions or control-flow graphs (CFG) of binary code and support BCSD. In this study, we propose a novel Transformer-based approach, namely jTrans, to learn representations of binary code. It is the first solution that embeds control flow information of binary code into Transformer-based language models, by using a novel jump-aware representation of the analyzed binaries and a newly-designed pre-training task. Additionally, we release to the community a newly-created large dataset of binaries, BinaryCorp, which is the most diverse to date. Evaluation results show that jTrans outperforms state-of-the-art (SOTA) approaches on this more challenging dataset by 30.5% (i.e., from 32.0% to 62.5%). Monocular 3D object detection has long been a challenging task in autonomous driving. Most existing methods follow conventional 2D detectors to first localize object centers, and then predict 3D attributes by neighboring features. However, only using local visual features is insufficient to understand the scene-level 3D spatial structures and ignores the long-range inter-object depth relations. In this paper, we introduce the first DETR framework for Monocular DEtection with a depth-guided TRansformer, named MonoDETR. We modify the vanilla transformer to be depth-aware and guide the whole detection process by contextual depth cues. Specifically, concurrent to the visual encoder that captures object appearances, we introduce to predict a foreground depth map, and specialize a depth encoder to extract non-local depth embeddings. Then, we formulate 3D object candidates as learnable queries and propose a depth-guided decoder to conduct object-scene depth interactions. In this way, each object query estimates its 3D attributes adaptively from the depth-guided regions on the image and is no longer constrained to local visual features. On KITTI benchmark with monocular images as input, MonoDETR achieves state-of-the-art performance and requires no extra dense depth annotations. Besides, our depth-guided modules can also be plug-and-play to enhance multi-view 3D object detectors on nuScenes dataset, demonstrating our superior generalization capacity. Contrastive learning has become a popular technique to pre-train image encoders, which could be used to build various downstream classification models in an efficient way. This process requires a large amount of data and computation resources. Hence, the pre-trained encoders are an important intellectual property that needs to be carefully protected. It is challenging to migrate existing watermarking techniques from the classification tasks to the contrastive learning scenario, as the owner of the encoder lacks the knowledge of the downstream tasks which will be developed from the encoder in the future. We propose the \textit{first} watermarking methodology for the pre-trained encoders. We introduce a task-agnostic loss function to effectively embed into the encoder a backdoor as the watermark. This backdoor can still exist in any downstream models transferred from the encoder. Extensive evaluations over different contrastive learning algorithms, datasets, and downstream tasks indicate our watermarks exhibit high effectiveness and robustness against different adversarial operations.

Learning-based Network Intrusion Detection Systems (NIDSs) are widely deployed for defending various cyberattacks. Existing learning-based NIDS mainly uses Neural Network (NN) as a classifier that relies on the quality and quantity of cyberattack data. Such NN-based approaches are also hard to interpret for improving efficiency and scalability. In this paper, we design a new local-global computation paradigm, FEDFOREST, a novel learning-based NIDS by combining the interpretable Gradient Boosting Decision Tree (GBDT) and Federated Learning (FL) framework. Specifically, FEDFOREST is composed of multiple clients that extract local cyberattack data features for the server to train models and detect intrusions. A privacy-enhanced technology is also proposed in FEDFOREST to further defeat the privacy of the FL systems. Extensive experiments on 4 cyberattack datasets of different tasks demonstrate that FEDFOREST is effective, efficient, interpretable, and extendable. In this work, we propose a new and general framework to defend against backdoor attacks, inspired by the fact that attack triggers usually follow a \textsc{specific} type of attacking pattern, and therefore, poisoned training examples have greater impacts on each other during training. We introduce the notion of the {\it influence graph}, which consists of nodes and edges respectively representative of individual training points and associated pair-wise influences. The influence between a pair of training points represents the impact of removing one training point on the prediction of another, approximated by the influence function \citep{koh2017understanding}. Malicious training points are extracted by finding the maximum average sub-graph subject to a particular size. Extensive experiments on computer vision and natural language processing tasks demonstrate the effectiveness and generality of the proposed framework.

Neural network models have achieved state-of-the-art performances in a wide range of natural language processing (NLP) tasks. However, a long-standing criticism against neural network models is the lack of interpretability, which not only reduces the reliability of neural NLP systems but also limits the scope of their applications in areas where interpretability is essential (e.g., health care applications). In response, the increasing interest in interpreting neural NLP models has spurred a diverse array of interpretation methods over recent years. In this survey, we provide a comprehensive review of various interpretation methods for neural models in NLP. We first stretch out a high-level taxonomy for interpretation methods in NLP, i.e., training-based approaches, test-based approaches, and hybrid approaches. Next, we describe sub-categories in each category in detail, e.g., influence-function based methods, KNN-based methods, attention-based models, saliency-based methods, perturbation-based methods, etc. We point out deficiencies of current methods and suggest some avenues for future research.

Transforming large deep neural network (DNN) models into the multi-exit architectures can overcome the overthinking issue and distribute a large DNN model on resource-constrained scenarios (e.g. IoT frontend devices and backend servers) for inference and transmission efficiency. Nevertheless, intellectual property (IP) protection for the multi-exit models in the wild is still an unsolved challenge. Previous efforts to verify DNN model ownership mainly rely on querying the model with specific samples and checking the responses, e.g., DNN watermarking and fingerprinting. However, they are vulnerable to adversarial settings such as adversarial training and are not suitable for the IP verification for multi-exit DNN models. In this paper, we propose a novel approach to fingerprint multi-exit models via inference time rather than inference predictions. Specifically, we design an effective method to generate a set of fingerprint samples to craft the inference process with a unique and robust inference time cost as the evidence for model ownership. We conduct extensive experiments to prove the uniqueness and robustness of our method on three structures (ResNet-56, VGG-16, and MobileNet) and three datasets (CIFAR-10, CIFAR-100, and Tiny-ImageNet) under comprehensive adversarial settings.

Semantic Role Labeling (SRL) aims at recognizing the predicate-argument structure of a sentence and can be decomposed into two subtasks: predicate disambiguation and argument labeling. Prior work deals with these two tasks independently, which ignores the semantic connection between the two tasks. In this paper, we propose to use the machine reading comprehension (MRC) framework to bridge this gap. We formalize predicate disambiguation as multiple-choice machine reading comprehension, where the descriptions of candidate senses of a given predicate are used as options to select the correct sense. The chosen predicate sense is then used to determine the semantic roles for that predicate, and these semantic roles are used to construct the query for another MRC model for argument labeling. In this way, we are able to leverage both the predicate semantics and the semantic role semantics for argument labeling. We also propose to select a subset of all the possible semantic roles for computational efficiency. Experiments show that the proposed framework achieves state-of-the-art or comparable results to previous work. Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) have been widely used in various application scenarios. Since the production of a commercial GAN requires substantial computational and human resources, the copyright protection of GANs is urgently needed. This paper presents a novel fingerprinting scheme for the Intellectual Property (IP) protection of image-to-image GANs based on a trusted third party. We break through the stealthiness and robustness bottlenecks suffered by previous fingerprinting methods for classification models being naively transferred to GANs. Specifically, we innovatively construct a composite deep learning model from the target GAN and a classifier. Then we generate fingerprint samples from this composite model, and embed them in the classifier for effective ownership verification. This scheme inspires some concrete methodologies to practically protect the modern image-to-image translation GANs. Theoretical analysis proves that these methods can satisfy different security requirements necessary for IP protection.
