Objective To study the invasive histopathological features of papillary thyroid carcinoma(PTC) with tall cell variant(TCV). Methods A retrospective analysis of 19 170 cases of PTC in Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine from January 2018 to May 2023 was performed to analyze and the clinicopathological features between TCV-PTC group and classic PTC (cPTC) group. Results Pathological results showed 1 380 cases in TCV-PTC group and 15 578 cases in cPTC group. TCV-PTC had higher proportion and (or) mean value in patients' age, extraglandular invasion, nerve invasion, vascular invasion, maximum diameter of cancer focus, multifocality，lymph node metastasis and BRAF mutation, but the proportion of patients with coexistent Hashimoto's thyroiditis was lower than cPTC， and all results had significant difference (P

Objective To explore the application of team-based learning(TBL) combined with case-based learning (CBL) in training program of thyroid surgery on medical intern. Methods A prospective study was conducted in 94 interns with training program from November 2020 to June 2021 in thyroid surgery, Ruijin Hospital. The interns were grouped chronologically. Forty-six interns from November 2020 to February 2021 were included into control group and 48 interns from March 2021 to June 2021 into study group. Interns in control group were given traditional training and interns in study group with TBL with CBL training. Basic theory and knowledge, basic operative skill and ability of managing crisis were evaluated and compared between two groups. Results The basic theory and knowledge in study group were significantly better than that in control group (t=12.610, P0.05) and ability of managing crisis (t=1.313, P>0.05) between two groups. Objective To analyze retrospectively preoperative evaluation and preparation in Graves′ disease patients with surgical treatment. Methods A total of 126 cases of Graves′ disease in our department from January 2015 to May 2021 were reviewed. Patient information including preoperative preparation, operative mode, postoperative pathological results and complications were collected. Results There were 27 males and 99 females with an average age of(42.4±14.3) years. Surgical indications were Graves′ disease with malignant tumour, airway compression and stenosis, retrosternal goiter, drug intolerance or hyperparathyroidism. There were 75 cases with thyroid papillary carcinoma including 47 cases with papillary microcarcinoma， and 2 cases with follicular carcinoma. Short-term postoperative complications were 11 cases with hoarseness among which 1 case was permanent, and 35 cases with hypocalcemia among which 1 case was permanent. Conclusions It is indicated that preoperative preparation for Graves′ disease requires individualization and refinement, which include iodine preparation, examination of airway condition and neural monitoring, the evaluation of parathyroid function, recurrent laryngeal nerve variation and malignant nodules.

Objective To evaluate virtual 3-dimensional (3D) modeling in treatment of large nodular goiter (length≥3 cm) via trans-areola single-site endoscopic thyroidectomy (TASSET). Methods Clinical data with 33 patients who received TASSET for large nodular goiter from June 2017 to January 2019 were investigated retrospectively. All patients underwent preoperative localization by CT and ultrasonography. Digital technique was utilized to build the virtual 3D mo-deling for nodular localization and digital surgical planning. Clinical data including the location and size of nodules, operative time, pathological results, and complications were analyzed. Patients were followed-up postoperatively for therapeutic outcome. Results All patients underwent TASSET successfully followed the preoperative digital surgery planning without conversion to open surgery. There were 19 cases with left thyroid nodules and 14 cases with right thyroid nodules. Mean length of nodule was (37.3±7.2) mm with operative time (107.6±23.6) min. Pathological examination showed 18 cases of nodular goiter, 8 cases of follicular adenoma, 4 cases of Hürthle cell adenoma, 2 cases of lymphocytic thyroiditis, and 1 case of toxic thyroid adenoma. No postoperative complication was observed. Patients were followed-up during 7 to 26 months without residual thyroid or recurrence. Conclusions Preoperative application of 3D digital technique to build visualization model for nodule localization and surgery planning could reduce operative risk and improve the safety and effectiveness of TASSET in treatment of large nodular goiter.

The direct C−H functionalization of 1,2‐benzazaborines, especially asymmetric version, remains a great challenge. Here we report a palladium‐catalyzed enantioselective C−H olefination and allylation reactions of 1,2‐benzazaborines. This asymmetric approach is a kinetic resolution (KR), providing various C−B axially chiral 2‐aryl‐1,2‐benzazaborines and 3‐substituted 2‐aryl‐1,2‐benzazaborines in generally high yields with excellent enantioselectivities (selectivity (S) factor up to 354). The synthetic potential of this reaction is showcased by late‐stage modification of complex molecules, scale‐up reaction, and applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
