University students are more susceptible to stress and other mental health problems, which can have a negative impact on their health and academic performance. The main objective of the present study was to explore the influence of exam stress on various biochemical and hematological parameters among university students. The study involved 100 undergraduate students (n=100) aged between 18 and 35. Blood samples were collected from each student three times. The first sample was taken one week before the exam, the second on the day of the exam, and the third 10 days after the exam. Various tests were carried out to evaluate the impact of academic stress on different parameters, such as Glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase (GOT), Glutamate pyruvate transaminase (GPT), glucose, iron, magnesium, sodium, potassium, thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), cortisol, insulin, complete blood count, and blood pressure. Blood samples obtained during exams indicated a substantial decrease in the levels of liver enzymes (GOT, GPT), serum magnesium, insulin, and white blood cell count as compared to pre-post examination findings (P<0.001). A significant increase was recorded in electrolyte levels (sodium and potassium; P<0.001), blood pressure (systolic and diastolic; P<0.001), glucose level (P<0.001), Hormones level (TSH; P<0.001, cortisol; P<0.001), and platelet counts (P<0.002). The study has revealed that exam stress can significantly impact certain blood test results, leading to physical changes that could affect a student's academic performance. Objective: Clinicians have noted that the ongoing war on Gaza has had a psychological impact on people with multiple sclerosis (PwMS) whose mental health is particularly vulnerable during stressful times such as these. The present study sought to examine the prevalence and correlates of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms among PwMS in Jordan during the Gaza war outbreak. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study involving 171 patients (PwMS) out of 372 patients approached (46% response rate) who were being seen in the MS unit at Al Bashir Hospital, Ammann, Jordan. Inclusion criteria required that participants had been following daily news updates of the October 7 war in Gaza during a period of 4 months. Results: Of participants, 125 (73.1%) were female, 98 (57.3%) were on therapy for less than five years, and 30 (17.5%) reported having a relapse during the past 6 months. Significant PTSD symptoms were identified in 58.5% (100 of 171 participants). Those at higher risk were the unemployed (OR = 2.14, 95% CI = 1.13-4.07, P = 0.02), whereas patients receiving dimethyl fumarate (19.9%) were at lower risk (OR = 0.43, 95% CI = 0.19-0.94, P = 0.02). Conclusion: The high rate of significant PTSD symptoms among people with MS in this study underscores the need for attention by primary care providers and the implementation of a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach to optimize the mental well-being of this fragile population. Aim: The study aims to investigate the association between type 2 diabetes and adipokines, particularly resistin and adiponectin, in insulin resistance. It also explores the potential of the resistin to adiponectin ratio as an indicator for these conditions Methods: This research involved 198 participants, including 100 patients with type 2 diabetes and 98 controls. It focused on measuring various biochemical parameters like HbA1c, fasting plasma glucose, lipid profiles (low-density lipoprotein, oxidized low-density lipoprotein, triglyceride, total cholesterol), and adipokines (resistin and adiponectin). The study utilized the Homeostasis Model Assessment of Insulin Resistance and Triglyceride-Glucose index to evaluate insulin resistance. Results: Type 2 diabetic patients exhibited higher levels of HbA1c, fasting plasma glucose, lipid profiles, and resistin, but lower adiponectin levels compared to controls. Adiponectin showed a negative correlation with insulin resistance, while resistin demonstrated a positive correlation. Both adipokines significantly related to atherogenic markers, with adiponectin offering protection against atherosclerosis and resistin augmenting it. Conclusion: The findings underscore the complex roles of resistin and adiponectin in the pathophysiology of type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance. The resistin to adiponectin ratio could be a useful biomarker for insulin resistance. These insights suggest potential therapeutic strategies for treating diabetes and preventing its complications. The research aimed to elucidate the neurological benefits of Punicagranatum seeds (Pomegranate), which have been traditionally touted for their therapeutic properties. To understand their impact, the study systematically examined the seeds' effects on key neurological functions: anxiety, depression, memory, and motor coordination. Through a series of experiments, the seeds were observed to significantly reduce anxiety levels, alleviate depressive symptoms, and enhance memory performance. The efficacy of these seeds might be attributed to their rich content of bioactive compounds, including isoflavones, triterpenes, and antioxidants. Since, there is an increasing demand for natural remedies and a shift towards holistic wellness, the potential therapeutic applications of Punicagranatum seeds cannot be understated. If these promising results can be consistently replicated in more extensive clinical trials, the seeds could be harnessed to develop innovative, natural treatments for neurological disorders.
