From the perspective of peripheralised countries, internationalisation is imbalanced and hegemonic, as it is predominantly constructed by universities in the Global North. We explore the imbalanced internationalisation from the cases of sub-Saharan Africa through the dominance of Western knowledge systems and brain drain; China through isolation and playing 'catch up'; and Indonesia through the financial crisis, the bailout conditions of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank and marketisation. By taking the cases of sub-Sahara Africa, China and Indonesia, this article problematises the idea of internationalisation and argues that it further relegates universities from the peripheralised countries to the margin.

This article explores how grassroots administrators interact with various other actors in the process of forming international partnerships. A top-down and a bottom-up case of building international partnerships for masters and PhD programmes were selected from my fieldwork in a Danish university. The cases were elaborated and analysed using Tatiana Fumasoli's organisational approach to multi-level governance in higher education. This article concludes that with their personal networks and knowledge about the normative frameworks of certain powerful actors, grassroots administrators could help academic staff who might not know the regulations involved in the internationalisation process, to balance their own interests with their intention of complying with the normative frameworks, and thus enhance their capacities of forming and participating in a successful international partnership.

This study explores adaptive enhancement for irregular, low-pixel architectural design images, focusing on lightness components. Utilizing a median filter and wavelet threshold method removes image noise, followed by grayscale conversion in HSV space. Applying Retinex theory generates the initial enhanced image, further improved through wavelet transform image fusion technology, resulting in the final enhanced architectural design image. Experimental results demonstrate the method's effectiveness in adapting and enhancing irregular, low-pixel architectural design images, achieving notably improved outcomes. The proposed approach successfully extracts and utilizes valuable image information, enhancing overall image quality. This study found that the proposed method can effectively extract and better utilize useful information in images, achieving more ideal image enhancement effects. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Forest management plans are the bibles of forest management. On the basis of these plans, farmers play essential roles in forest cultivation, protection, and utilization. After the forest tenure reform in the 2000s in China, the status of farmers has changed. For example, collective management has decreased and household management has become a leading structure of operation and management. Farmer's dependence on income from forests has increased, which is reflected in their increased participation in management. However, insights into farmers' perceptions of and willingness to participate in the formulation of forest management plans are insufficient. This study analyzes the factors influencing farmers' participation by using an econometric model based on 1752 samples of farmer households from 10 counties. The empirical results reveal that according to farmers, forest type and property rights influence their willingness to participate in the formulation of forest management plans. In addition, whether there is a village leader, the village distance from town, the circulation of forest land, the area of woodland, timber price, and forestry income have a significant positive impact on farmers' willingness to participate in forest management plan formulation; the level of education and non-agricultural income have a significant negative impact on farmers' willingness to participate in forest management program development. Finally, this study proposes to improve and deepen the reform of the forest ownership system, encourage land circulation, and give play to the role of village leaders in promoting the participation of farmers in forest management plans, so as to improve the efficiency of forest management. Background and Purpose: This study sought to explore dynamic degree centrality (DC) variability in particular regions of the brain in patients with poststroke Broca aphasia (BA) using a resting‐state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs‐fMRI) approach, comparing differences between Uyghur and Chinese BA patients. Methods: This study investigated two factors, language and BA status, and divided patients into four groups: Uyghur aphasia patients (UA), Uyghur normal control subjects (UN), Chinese aphasia patients (CA), and Chinese normal subjects (CN) who underwent rs‐fMRI analysis. Two‐way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to calculate the comprehensive differences in dynamic DC among these four groups. Correlations between DC and language behavior were assessed with partial correlation analyses. Results: Two‐way ANOVA revealed comparable results for the results of pairwise comparisons of dynamic DC variability among the four groups in the right middle frontal gyrus/orbital part (ORBmid.R), right superior frontal gyrus/dorsolateral, and right precuneus (PCUN.R), with results as follows: UA < UN, CA > CN, UA < CA, and UN > CN (p <.05, with the exception of the p‐values for UA and UN in superior frontal gyrus/dorsolateral). In contrast, the opposite results were observed for the right calcarine fissure and surrounding cortex (CAL.R, p <.05). Conclusion: The observed enhancement of dynamic DC variability in ORBmid.R and PCUN.R among Chinese BA patients and in CAL.R in Uyghur BA patients may be attributable to language network restructuring. Overall, these results suggest that BA patients who use different language families may exhibit differences in the network mechanisms that characterize observed impairments of language function. This paper presents how students reshaped the idea of an international university offered to them. The findings derive from participant observation ethnographic fieldwork carried out at Fudan University in China. The analysis proves that the idea of an "international university" offered to Fudan University students was double-edged in the sense that it both cultivated and screened international talent. Students reshaped their university by manipulating or "twisting" the screening process when applying for short-term study abroad programs, on the one hand, and creating cultivating "devices" within the university, namely student-initiated associations on the other hand. The findings of this paper add a new aspect to the idea of the "international university" from students' perspective and turn the spotlight on students as active builders of their university.

A high-selectivity filtering dense dielectric patch (DDP) antenna (DDPA) with raised DDPs and metal vias is proposed in this paper. The proposed filtering DDPA has three resonant modes, the first two modes are TE11 mode and the third mode is TE12 mode. The first TE11 mode is generated because of the centrally raised small DDP. The second TE11 mode and the TE12 mode are the modes of DDP itself. The proposed filtering DDPA has two radiation nulls (RNs). The low-frequency radiation null (LFRN) is generated by loading equal length parallel slots on the ground. DDP itself has a non-radiative high-frequency radiation null (HFRN). By loading symmetrical same metal vias on the DDP, the radiative TE12 mode and the non-radiative TE12 mode move to the low-frequency at the same time. That results in a wider passband and excellent high-frequency response. The proposed filtering DDPA is manufactured and measured for verification. The impedance bandwidth is 8.2% from 3.75 GHz to 4.07 GHz. The average gain is 7.7 dBi, and the average roll-off rate is 177 dB/GHz. The measured results prove that the proposed filtering DDPA has good radiation performance and high-selectivity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
