- Abstract
The revised Patients' Attitudes Towards Deprescribing (rPATD) questionnaire explores older adults' views on deprescribing in general. Those views may differ, however, when the target is a specific drug such as benzodiazepine receptor agonists (BZRA). This study aimed to adapt the 22-item French rPATD questionnaire to create a BZRA-specific instrument and to assess the psychometric properties of this new tool. The adaptation of the questionnaire comprised 3 steps: 1) item transformation during group discussions with 8 healthcare providers and 8 BZRA users (aged ≥65 years), 2) pre-test of the questionnaire with 12 other older adults to ensure items understanding, 3) evaluation of the psychometric properties of the new questionnaire with 221 older BZRA users recruited in Belgium, France, and Switzerland. Construct validity was assessed using exploratory factor analysis (EFA), internal consistency with Cronbach's alpha, and test-retest reliability with intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). After the pre-test, the questionnaire had 24 items (19 adapted from the French rPATD, 3 removed, and 5 added). The EFA, however, found that several items performed poorly. Eleven items were consequently removed, based on statistical performance and clinical relevance. Three factors were extracted from the EFA performed on the 11 retained items and were named "Concerns about stopping BZRA", "BZRA inappropriateness", and "Dependence on BZRA". The questionnaire also includes two global questions about willingness to reduce BZRA dosage and willingness to discontinue BZRA. All factors showed acceptable internal consistency (0.68 ≤ Cronbach's alpha ≤0.74). Two factors showed acceptable test-retest reliability. The "Concerns about stopping BZRA" factor was found to vary over time (ICC [95%CI]: 0.35[-0.02; 0.64]). We developed and validated a 13-item questionnaire to evaluate the attitudes of older people towards BZRA deprescribing. Despite some limitations, this questionnaire appears to be a useful tool for facilitating shared decision-making on BZRA deprescribing. • Patients' attitudes may vary considering general or benzodiazepine deprescribing. • The rPATD was adapted to create a questionnaire that is specific to benzodiazepines. • Major differences exist between the original questionnaire and the adapted version. • The new questionnaire might facilitate dialogue about benzodiazepine deprescribing. The article presents the results of the adaptation of the Pain Catastrophizing Scale, which consists of three subscales (Rumination, Magnification and Helplessness) in a sample of 219 people (80,4% females). The average age of the participants was 22,05 years (median= 19,00 years, standard deviation=6,74; age range from 18 to 54 years). The Russian-language version of the Pain Catastrophizing Scale shows acceptable reliability for the scales (Cronbach’s alpha = 0,82; 0,67 and 0,83, respectively), and high reliability in general (Cronbach’s alpha = 0.89). Estimates of pain catastrophizing are positively correlated with the estimates of pain strength and intensity (McGill Pain Questionnaire, adapted by V. Kuzmenko in 1986), as well as with the level of self-control (Brief Self-Control Scale by J.P. Tangney, R.F. Baumeister and A.L. Boone, adapted by T. Gordeeva et al. in 2016): catastrophizing people, as a rule, have a lower level of self-control. Fit indices of confirmatory factor analysis (RMSEA=0,08; χ2/df=2.5; GFI=0.90; SRMR=0.7) characterize one- and three-factor models of pain catastrophizing as reasonable. Women showed a higher level of catastrophic pain in general, and differences were also found on the scale of Rumination, while there were no statistically significant differences on the scales of Magnification and Helplessness. Pain Catastrophizing is also positively correlated with anxiety and depression (HADS adapted by M. Drobizhev in 1993).

This paper is based on a methodological study with which we tested and adapted the tool for measuring Gerotranscendence in Slovenia. The original scale with 25 items was developed by Lars Tornstam, PhD. First, the scale was translated into Slovenian and adapted to the cultural setting. This translation was pre-tested with 14 cognitive interviews. The results showed that nine items were problematic. The aim of this paper is to point out important differences in the understanding of these nine items and suggest more appropriate translations on the basis of the cognitive interviews. While describing the process, the paper illustrates the significance of pre-testing survey questionnaires.

There is a need to investigate student intention to participate in online discussion forums in the context of online collaborative learning due to the importance of student participation and the widespread student inactivity reported in some studies. Student participation in online discussion forums could be predicted by the constructs included in the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). This paper presents a cross-cultural adaptation (CCA) and validation of a questionnaire based on TPB for analysis using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). The CCA was conducted to adapt the English items included in the questionnaire for use in an Indonesian context. This is part of our study on factors that affect student intention to participate in online discussion forums. The rationale for conducting a CCA was the need to cater to the different characteristics of the language and the cultural backgrounds of the participants of this study in comparison to the participants involved in the construction of the original measurement items. The adaptation and the validation of the questionnaire involved a literature review, back-translation, an expert review, pretesting, and a statistical validation test to ensure its reliability and validity. The result shows that the adapted instrument is valid and reliable to be used for further SEM analysis (i.e., structural model evaluation). Moreover, this paper demonstrates that expert-reviewed adaptation and the back-translation method could produce valid and reliable measurement items for SEM. Therefore, future studies that utilize SEM with cross-cultural adapted items from relevant prior studies should consider adopting expert-reviewed adaptation and back-translation methods. With the majority of social-psychological research still being conducted in Western countries, researchers from non-Western countries often adopt existing theories, constructs, and instruments that are not necessarily applicable to the contexts they are interested in. This paper discusses problems that might arise when transferring psychological constructs and instruments from one cultural setting to another. We use the case of a study of group-based guilt and shame in Russia that was carried out by the research team. First, we briefly discuss the original study and the problems we encountered while conducting it. We then analyze the results of eight in-depth semi-structured interviews that followed up the original study. Finally, we conduct a thematic analysis of Facebook commentaries (N=98) that participants left after filling out the original questionnaire. Based on these analyses, we suggest a checklist for researchers who plan to study a psychological construct that wasn’t studied in a given cultural context before. With this paper, we hope to highlight the importance of thorough and comprehensive adaptation of psychological constructs and instruments to new cultural settings.

Objective: Adaptation of the Russian version of the Clinical Perfectionist Questionnaire (CPQ, Fairburn, Cooper, Shafran 2002) and evaluation of its psychometric features., Material and Methods: One hundred and thirty-five people (98 (72.6%) women, 37 (27.4%) men) at the age from 18 to 36 (M=25.10; SD=4.92) took part in this study. Fifty-seven participants are diagnosed with eating disorder. Respondents completed the adapted version of CPQ, The Eating Attitudes Test (EAT-26) (Skugarevsky and Sivuha adaptation) and the Three-factor perfectionism questionnaire (Garanyan, Holmogorova)., Results: Three-factor structure was found from 12 questions of CPQ: self-esteem based on achievements; correspondence with high standards; negative evaluation of results. Inner coherence of the factors is high and acceptable (Cronbachs alpha 0.784, 0.691 and 0.609, respectively). There are statistically significant positive correlations between scales of CPQ and scales of the Three-factor perfectionism questionnaire. There is a significant positive correlation between CPQ scale «self-esteem based on achievements» and summed result of EAT-26 ( p< 0.05). No significant differences in results of each CPQ scale between people with- and without diagnosed eating disorder is found., Conclusion: The adapted Russian version of CPQ showed relevant psychometric characteristics, therefore it may be used as an additional instrument for diagnosing of eating desorders.

- Abstract
Vizsgálatunk célja a különböző önsértő viselkedésformákat több szempontból (pl. attitüdinális komponensek, kapcsolódó érzelmek, a háttérben meghúzódó okok) felmérő Kezelésközpontú Önsértés Kérdőív (Self-Injury Questionnaire-Treatment Related; SIQ-TR) bevezetése a hazai tesztállományba. A mintában a jelenleg és a korábban önsértők szignifikánsan több negatív életeseményt éltek át a megelőző fél évben a sohasem önsértőkhöz képest (F(2) = 9,16; p < 0,0001). Az aktuálisan önsértők jellemezhetők továbbá a legmagasabb disszociatív élményszinttel (F(2) = 7,82; p = 0,001) és kognitív inflexibilitással (F(2) = 6,58; p = 0,002). Következtetések: A Kezelésközpontú Önsértés Kérdőív magyar nyelvű változata (SIQ-TR-HU) hatékony eszköze a nem öngyilkossági szándékkal történő önsértés összetett vizsgálatának, ezzel összefüggésben célzott terápiás intervenciók megalapozását támogathatja. Non-suicidal self-injury (e.g., deliberate cutting, bruising, biting of the own body) is an increasing behavioral and health problem among adolescents. Several measurements published for the evaluation of self-harm, but only few questionnaires exist, which can capture the phenomenon in its complexity. Our current study aims to introduce the Self-Injury Questionnaire-Treatment Related (SIQ-TR) into the Hungarian test system, which can assess different forms of deliberate self-harm in several aspects (e.g., affective antecedents and consequences or functions of self-harm). Psychometric properties of the Hungarian version of the SIQ-TR were evaluated in a special population, among juvenile delinquents (N = 244; 92.6% was boy; Mage = 16.99 years, SD = 1.28 years). In association with self-harm we measured negative life events (Adolescent Life Event Questionnaire), as well as avoidance-focused emotion regulation processes (Avoidance and Fusion Questionnaire for Youth; Adolescent Dissociative Experience Scale). Twenty-six percent (26.2%) of the juvenile delinquents reported current self-harm behavior in the past month. Of those who reported self-harm, 34.4% (N = 84) had been involved with NSSI prior to the past month, whereas 39.3% (N = 96) had never previously engaged in self-harm. According to our results, the highest attention to the self-harm process and to wound care, as well as the most negative emotions are associated to scratching and biting.Furthermore, these two types of self-harm behavior have dominantly the function of reducing negative emotional states. Among juvenile delinquents current and past self- injurers experienced significantly more stressful life events during the past six months compared with adolescents who have never self-harmed (F(2) = 9.16, p < 0.0001). Moreover, current self-injurers can be featured with the highest dissociation (F(2) = 7.82, p = 0.001) and cognitive inflexibility levels (F(2) = 6.58, p = 0.002). Hungarian version of the SIQ-TR is an effective measure to investigate in the complexity of non-suicidal self- injury behaviors. In this context, the measurement could establish targeted therapeutic interventions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

CONFIRMATORY factor analysis , *JOB descriptions , *ORGANIZATIONAL commitment , *JOB satisfaction , *JOB performance - Abstract
Objectives. The aim of the study was to assess the psychometric characteristics of a Czech adaptation of the Work Design Questionnaire (WDQ) that measures 21 work characteristics. Sample and setting. A sample of 461 people working in Czech organizations completed a Czech adaptation of WDQ. In order to assess the convergent validity of WDQ, the respondents also completed 4 other questionnaires. Results. Confirmatory factor analyses showed a similar fit of the 21-factor model (RMSEA = = 0.046; CFI = 0.89; TLI = 0.88) to the original English WDQ. The standardized factor loadings were high (λ = 0.60 to 0.90), only the item wdq 25 did not load on the job complexity factor (λ = .21) as it should have according to the theoretical model. The authors do not recommend including this item in the job complexity subscale because it has two possible meanings in both the Czech and English versions, and the respondents may not understand it in accordance with the content of the subscale. All the subscales of WDQ showed high internal consistency (ω = 0.75 to 0.96) except the social support subscale (ω = 0.64). The convergent validity of the subscales is supported by the correlations of their scores to job satisfaction, organizational commitment, intrinsic motivation, and perceived own work performance. The analyses also showed the criterial validity of the subscale interaction outside an organization. as the respondents in sales and services scored higher than the respondents who worked in different positions. Limitations. Respondents with an university degree and respondents doing knowledge work prevailed in the sample. The data about work characteristics and other variables came from the same source - the self-report questionnaires. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

BACKGROUND: Employees with disabilities make up a significant share of the working population. The group of employees covered by this study is hard to include in research and yet must be researched due to the vulnerable position it holds in the labour market. The topic is quite complex. OBJECTIVE: The article's main goal is to demonstrate how to implement a survey and adapt a questionnaire for assessing competencies and motivation for training and career changes among older and less-educated employees who have disabilities. METHODS: In the paper, we discuss the approach to adapting a questionnaire and a survey by undertaking an extensive process of different testing and adaptation stages that is presented in the article. RESULTS: We highlight some obstacles that employees with disabilities face when participating in surveys due to their low literacy skills, as well as low self-esteem, accessibility issues and other general methodological issues in the context of our population. Potential solutions gathered from all phases of the adaptation process are discussed. CONCLUSIONS: Proper survey implementation and questionnaire modification must be ensured if researchers aim to increase the willingness of individuals with disabilities to participate in the survey and to gather quality results. The aim of this research was to present the Turkish adaptation of the survey for Middle-School Students’ Attitudes toward Engineers and Scientists prepared by Lyons, Fralick and Kearn (2009) 32 items in a 5-point Likert type scale. The questionnaire was administered to 707 students receiving education in the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grades in state schools in the Ministry of National Education. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) were used to examine the structural validity of the questionnaire. SPSS 21 and LISREL 8.7 software were used for EFA and CFA, respectively. A structure consisting of 22 items and two factors, and accounting for 41.88% of total variance was obtained after the EFA. To evaluate the questionnaire’s reliability, Cronbach’s Alpha internal consistency coefficient, corrected-item total correlation and the significance of differences between item averages of meta-groups and subgroups (27%) were evaluated using t-test. Cronbach’s alpha internal consistency coefficient was found to be .83 for the overall questionnaire. As a result of the study, the Turkish adaptation of the questionnaire, prepared for determination of secondary school students’ attitudes towards scientists and engineers, was conducted and a valid and reliable measurement tool was obtained.

Aim: To adapt the Youth‐Friendly Health Services‐World Health Organization+ questionnaire to suit the health needs of youth in the South African context, and estimate its psychometric properties. Background: Youth‐friendly health services promote health‐seeking behaviour amongst young people. The perceptions of youth and adolescents are thus important whilst assessing the youth‐friendliness of health services. Methods: We conducted six focus group interviews to evaluate the clarity and relevance of the questionnaire items and adapted the questionnaire which was was administered to 101 youth who visited primary healthcare clinics. We reduced the number of items through quantitative analysis of responses and item analysis. Cronbach's alpha was used to optimize internal consistency reliability. Experts established a baseline of youth‐friendliness. We ranked the responses from the youth against the baseline of youth‐friendliness and used independent two sample t‐test to test for construct validity of the final adapted version, titled Youth‐Friendly Health Services‐ South Africa. Results or Findings: After the focus group interviews, we rephrased 27 items, removed four items and added eight items. We reduced the questionnaire to 57 items whilst optimizing internal consistency reliability. The statistical analysis supported construct validity. Conclusion: The Youth‐Friendly Health Services‐South Africa is the first English validated version and demonstrates good psychometric properties. Implication for nursing practice and health policy: The Youth‐Friendly Health Services‐South Africa can be useful to evaluate the youths' satisfaction with the health care and nursing service they receive. This study's findings indicate that the original questionnaire can be adapted for use in different contexts to shape local and global nursing practice and policies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

health literacy ,HLS19-Q ,questionnaire adaptation ,Russian-speaking population ,immigrants/migrants ,cultural appropriateness ,cultural responsiveness - Abstract
The Russian language is the eighth most spoken language in the world. Russian speakers reside in Russia, across the former Soviet Union republics, and comprise one of the largest populations of international migrants. However, little is known about their health literacy (HL) and there is limited research on HL instruments in the Russian language. The purpose of this study was to adapt the Health Literacy Questionnaire (HLS19-Q) developed within the Health Literacy Survey 2019–2021 (HLS19) to the Russian language to study HL in Russian-speaking populations in Germany, Israel, Kazakhstan, Russia, and the USA. The HLS19-Q was translated either from English or from a national language to Russian in four countries first and then critically reviewed by three Russian-speaking experts for consensus. The HLS19 protocol and “team approach” method were used for linguistic and cultural adaptation. The most challenging was the adaptation of HLS19-Q questions to each country’s healthcare system while general HL questions were flexible and adaptable to specific contexts across all countries. This study provides recommendations for the linguistic and cultural adaptation of HLS19-Q into different languages and can serve as an example of international collaboration towards this end.

MIDDLE school student attitudes ,ENGINEERS ,SCIENTISTS ,QUESTIONNAIRES ,CRONBACH'S alpha - Abstract
The aim of this research was to present the Turkish adaptation of the survey for Middle-School Students' Attitudes toward Engineers and Scientists prepared by Lyons, Fralick and Kearn (2009) 32 items in a 5-point Likert type scale. To evaluate the questionnaire's reliability, Cronbach's Alpha internal consistency coefficient, corrected-item total correlation and the significance of differences between item averages of meta-groups and subgroups (27%) were evaluated using t-test. Cronbach's alpha internal consistency coefficient was found to be .83 for the overall questionnaire. As a result of the study, the Turkish adaptation of the questionnaire, prepared for determination of secondary school students' attitudes towards scientists and engineers, was conducted and a valid and reliable measurement tool was obtained. Background: The aim of the present study was to develop and validate a Spanish version of the short Domain-Specific Risk-Taking (DOSPERT-30) scale, measuring risk-taking behavior, risk perception, and expected beneficial consequences (from taking risks) in five life domains: ethics, finance, health/security, recreational, and social decisions. Method: The scale was back-translated, and administered online to 826 participants. Validity evidence was tested using correlations with construct-related instruments (UPPS-P and SSS-V), as well as using factor analysis. Internal consistency reliability was calculated with the ordinal Alpha coefficient, and gender differences were considered. Results: Internal consistency was good, and factor analysis confirmed the five factors proposed by the authors. With respect to the external validity, high correlations with the positive urgency and the sensation seeking subscales of the UPPS-P, as well as with the thrill and adventure seeking and disinhibition subscales of the SSS-V were found. Finally, gender differences were found in all subscales and domains, with men tending to take more risks, perceive less risk and expect more beneficial consequences, except for the social domain where an inverse pattern was found. Conclusions: As these findings are in line with the original version, they indicate the scale was successfully adapted. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Prior research developed the Attention-Related Driving Errors Scale (ARDES), a 19-item questionnaire aimed at evaluating the drivers’ predisposition to attentional error, and also provided validity evidence of ARDES measures across two countries: Argentina and Spain. In the current work we adapt the Spanish version of the ARDES to the English language and the culture, traffic regulations and driving habits of the UK, and then provide new evidence of the cross-cultural equivalence of the scale. First, an improved forward and backward translation design was used to translate the Spanish ARDES into English. A committee-approach review process was also performed during the translation phase to guarantee that the English ARDES was the most appropriate to reflect the language, culture, traffic regulations and driving habits of the UK. Second, the adapted questionnaire was tested on 301 British drivers to inspect its psychometric properties and study the relationships between the ARDES-UK and different socio-demographic variables. In agreement with the previous literature, the results of the factor analysis confirmed a single factor and accounting for 33.84% of the variance. Cronbach’s alpha was equal to .89. The observed pattern of relationships of the scores and the different socio-demographic variables was consistent with previous evidence and support the validity of the adapted questionnaire. For example, the ARDES-UK scores were significantly different between drivers reporting and not reporting traffic accidents with material damage. To conclude with, the translation design and the resulting psychometric suggest the validity of ARDES-UK measures for evaluating the British drivers’ predisposition to attentional error. In addition, the evidence in the current work supports the hypothesis of the cross-cultural stability of the scale across Spain and the UK. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background and aims To adapt the LittlEARS ® Auditory Questionnaire (LEAQ) into Spanish and evaluate the psychometric properties of the Spanish version of the questionnaire. Methods The LEAQ was translated into Spanish by a back-translation design. Following the Guidelines for Adapting Tests of the International Test Commission (ITC), for the first time with the LEAQ adaptations, two qualitative methods were used to evaluate the translated version of the LEAQ: an expert appraisal method followed by cognitive interviewing. Having improved the Spanish version of the LEAQ with these evaluations, a psychometric analysis was conducted. 215 parents of children with normal hearing aged between 1.7 and 24.0 months participated in the study. Corrected item-total correlations were calculated to analyze to what extent items distinguish levels of auditory development of assessed children. Cronbach's alpha coefficient – to evaluate internal consistency across items – was also calculated. To obtain validity evidence, correlations between item-total score and age were calculated. A non-linear regression model was also estimated to obtain normative data for expected and minimum value of total scores from the questionnaire according to age. Results Expert appraisal and cognitive interviewing pointed out some translation errors and difficulties parents had while responding to the Spanish LEAQ. Such errors and difficulties were fixed in the Spanish LEAQ version applied for psychometric analysis. Corrected item-total correlations ranged from 0.15 to 0.75. Cronbach's alpha coefficient value was 0.92, indicating that the measurements are highly reliable. The value of the correlation between total scores and age was 0.86 ( p < 001). The regression analysis conducted to obtain normative data shows that 79% of the variation in the total scores can be explained by age. Conclusions The results of psychometric analyses provide evidence supporting the use of the Spanish version of the LEAQ as a valid and culturally appropriate tool to assess the development of auditory behaviour in Spanish children who are 24 months old or younger.

There is growing interest in the adaptation of psychological questionnaires in different countries, due to the need for cross-cultural research using the same tests adapted to diverse populations. This paper presents the standardization of the Personality Assessment Inventory (PAI; Morey, 1991, 2007) in Spain and Chile (both Spanish-speaking countries). The Spanish sample was made up of 940 people (461 men and 479 women), and the Chilean sample of 569 people (231 men and 338 women). Results revealed that the Chilean means were higher than those of the Spanish sample at confidence level 99.9%, although the associated effect sizes were generally small to moderate (partial etasquare between 0.008 and 0.187). Sex differences in the variables evaluated were commented on, and the importance of cross-cultural research and the influence of sex on personality and psychopathology variables were discussed. The present paper presents the psychometric properties of the Thinking Styles Inventory (TSI) in a sample of 543 Romanian undergraduate students. The TSI is a self-report questionnaire developed for the assessment of 13 types of preferences for problem solving (or thinking styles). The internal reliability analyses indicated that TSI scales have poor reliability (Cronbach's alphas between .26 and .72, with a median value of .62), and these values were slightly improved after we removed of 10 items from the original questionnaire. Confirmatory factor analyses failed to identify an appropriate solution for describing the relationships between the TSI items, indicating poor structural validity of the questionnaire. Further analyses indicated that the sex of the respondent has small effects on TSI scales. Also, results indicated that TSI scales can be used effectively to predict the academic specialization of the respondent. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Cíle. Cílem studie bylo posoudit psychometrické charakteristiky nové české adaptace dotazníku designu pracovní pozice (Work Design Questionnaire, WDQ) měřícího 21 pracovních charakteristik. Vzorek a metoda. Celkem 461 respondentů pracujících v českých organizacích vyplnilo českou verzi WDQ. Kvůli posouzení konvergentní validity vyplnili také 4 další dotazníky. Výsledky. Konfirmační faktorová analýza WDQ ukázala podobnou shodu 21-faktorového modelu s daty (RMSEA = 0.046; CFI = 0,89; TLI = 0,88) jako v případě původního dotazníku v angličtině. Standardizované faktorové náboje jednotlivých položek byly vysoké (lambda = 0,60 až 0,90), pouze položka WDQ25 nebyla sycena faktorem složitost práce (lambda = .21) v souladu s teoretickým modelem. Tuto položku autoři doporučují nezahrnovat do škály složitost práce, protože má v české i anglické verzi dva možné významy a nemusí být respondenty chápána v souladu s obsahem subškály. Všechny subškály WDQ prokázaly vnitřní konzistenci (omega = 0,75 až 0,96) s výjimkou subškály sociální opory (omega = 0,64). Konvergentní validitu subškál dotazníku podporují vztahy s pracovními spokojeností, závazkem k organizaci, vnitřní motivací a vnímaným vlastním výkonem. Limity. Ve vzorku převažují vzdělanější respondenti a respondenti vykonávající duševní práci. Data o pracovních charakteristikách i závislých proměnných pochází ze stejného zdroje, ze sebehodnocení respondentů. Objectives. The aim of this study was to assess the psychometric characteristics of a Czech adaptation of the Work Design Questionnaire (WDQ) that measures 21 work characteristics. Sample and setting. A sample of 461 people working in Czech organizations completed a Czech adaptation of WDQ. In order to assess the convergent validity of WDQ, the respondents also completed 4 other questionnaires. Results. Confirmatory factor analyses showed a similar fit of the 21-factor model (RMSEA = 0.046; CFI = 0,89; TLI = 0,88) to the original English WDQ. The standardized factor loadings were high (lambda = 0,60 to 0,90), only the item WDQ25 did not load on the job complexity factor (lambda = .21) as it should have according to the theoretical model. The authors do not recommend including this item in the job complexity subscale because it has two possible meanings in both the Czech and English versions, and the respondents may not understand it in accordance with the content of the subscale. All the subscales of WDQ showed high internal consistency (omega = 0,75 to 0,96) except the social support subscale (omega = 0,64). The convergent validity of the subscales is supported by the correlations of their scores with job satisfaction, organizational commitment, intrinsic motivation and perceived own work performance. The analyses also showed the criterion validity of the subscale interaction outside an organization, as the respondents in sales and services scored higher than the respondents who worked in different positions. Limitations. Respondents with a university degree and respondents doing knowledge work prevailed in the sample. The data about work characteristics and other variables came from the same source – the self-report questionnaires.

The present study aimed at adapting in the Greek language the Students' Motivation Towards Science Learning (SMTSL) questionnaire developed by Tuan, Chin, and Shieh (INT J SCI EDUC 27(6): 639-654, ) into a different cultural context, a different age group, that is, in university students and with a focus on physics learning. Three hundred and fifty Greek student teachers participated in the study. The original instrument consisted of 35 items allocated in six scales: self-efficacy, use of active learning strategies, science learning value, performance goals, achievement goals, and learning environment stimulation. The instrument's internal consistency was acceptable and comparable to previous studies' reports. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was applied on the data in order to test an a priori hypothesis regarding the SMTSL's factorial structure based on previous studies' findings. The results of the study showed that the six-factor conceptual model of students' motivation proposed by the SMTSL applies in this different cultural setting and in this group of university students with reference to physics learning. Along with the six distinct motivational constructs confirmed, students' motivational beliefs were also explained by a general motivational construct assumed to be at their basis. Suggestions for further improvement of the Greek version of the SMTSL are also discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Although Methotrexate (MTX) is one of the most commonly prescribed disease-modifying drugs in JIA no questionnaire exists that assesses the knowledge of parents about this drug. A 60-item questionnaire was recently developed to measure rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients' knowledge about MTX; the Methotrexate in Rheumatoid Arthritis Knowledge Test (MiRAK; Ciciriello et al. (Arthritis Rheum 62:10-1009, 2010)). This study aimed to adapt the MiRAK for parents of children with JIA. Methods: Adaption of the MiRAK involved: 1) email consultations with clinicians working in the field of paediatric rheumatology (Panel 1) to ascertain the potential adaptations of the MiRAK from a clinical perspective, 2) synthesis of clinicians' suggestions by a panel of experts, researchers and MiRAK developers (Panel 2) to reach consensus on which items needed to be modified and create a draft Methotrexate in Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis Knowledge Test (MiJIAK), 3) a review of the draft by 5 parents of children with JIA (Panel 3) using the cognitive 'think-aloud' method, 4) a second consultation with Panel 2 to review parents' suggestions and determine the final items. Results: A total of 9 items remained unchanged, e.g. "Methotrexate is effective at relieving joint stiffness", 19 were deemed inappropriate in the paediatric setting and deleted, e.g. "It is safe to become pregnant 3 weeks after methotrexate has been stopped", 32 underwent editorial changes largely to indicate that the questionnaire was about the children with JIA, e.g. "If you forget to give a dose of Methotrexate, you can still take it the next day" became "If your child misses a dose of Methotrexate, they can still take it the next day", and 1 new item was added. A new 42-item questionnaire was produced and was found to be well understood by parents of children with JIA. Conclusions: The systematic modification of the MiRAK, a patient-centred MTX knowledge questionnaire, has generated a comprehensive new questionnaire for use in the JIA setting. The wide consultation process, including cognitive testing, has ensured the tool is both relevant and acceptable to clinicians and will therefore be a valuable addition in understanding the parents' perspective of this treatment in JIA. 34. Foreign language anxiety : The case of young learners of English in Swedish primary classrooms
- Abstract
Although foreign language anxiety is a widely studied construct assumed to develop from negative experiences of language instruction, few researchers have focused on young learners in this regard. This multiple case study investigates levels and triggers of language anxiety in Swedish primary classrooms under rather favorable learning conditions with a supportive, non-competitive atmosphere, and without formal knowledge requirements or grades. A total of 225 learners, aged 8–12, studying English as their first foreign language completed a self-report questionnaire, a modified version of the Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale (Horwitz, Horwitz, & Cope, 1986), eliciting learners’ reactions to oral classroom participation. Foreign language anxiety was found along a continuum among learners. To investigate similarities and differences among students of differing anxiety levels, they were grouped into three categories: low, medium and high anxiety. The high anxiety group included 18.2% of learners, and for most of them, this anxiety was situation-specific and closely related to their own oral performance during English lessons. However, many classroom situations triggered language anxiety in other learners as well. It may therefore be advisable for teachers to reflect on common classroom practices that induce anxiety, rather than viewing language anxiety as a disadvantageous characteristic of individual learners. The results call for in-depth studies of classroom contexts where language anxiety develops. Moreover, the study’s contribution encompass new perspectives on research methodology with respect to young learners and in relation to foreign language anxiety.

Abstract: Objective: To adapt the LittlEars questionnaire into Polish and to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Polish version of the questionnaire. Methods: A back-translation method was used to translate the LittlEars questionnaire into Polish. The translated version was first evaluated by means of an expert-appraisal method. After having improved the Polish version of LittlEars with the results obtained from that evaluation, various psychometric analyses were conducted. Study participants included 310 parents or other caregivers of children with normal hearing whose ages ranged between 0.5 and 24.0 months. Corrected item-total correlations were calculated to evaluate the extent to which the different questions distinguish levels of auditory development of the assessed children. Cronbach''s alpha coefficient—to evaluate internal consistency across items—was also calculated. To obtain estimates of validity, correlations between item/total score and age were calculated. A non-linear regression model was derived to obtain normative data for expected and minimum values of total scores from the questionnaire according to age. Results: Corrected item-total correlations ranged from 0.14 to 0.84. The Cronbach''s alpha coefficient was 0.95, indicating that the measurements were highly reliable. The linear correlation between total scores and age was 0.90 (p <.001). The regression analysis conducted to obtain normative data showed that 83% of the variance in the total scores can be explained by age. Conclusion: The results of psychometric analyses support the use of the Polish version of the LittlEars questionnaire as a sensitive and reliable tool to assess the development of auditory behavior in Polish children between 3 and 24 months of age. TEZ12042 Tez (Yüksek Lisans) -- Çukurova Üniversitesi, Adana, 2019. Kaynakça (s. 61-70) var. xiv, 78 s. :_rnk. res., tablo ;_29 cm. The aim of this study was the Turkish language adaptation of the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire for Children and Adolescents (ERQ-CA) that had been adapted by Gullone and Taffe (2012) from Gross and John’s (2003) Emotion Regulation Questionnaire in order to measure the emotion regulation strategies implemented by children and adolescents. The study group consisted of 1048 students (558 girls and 490 boys) between 10 and 18 years old, who were receiving education at the selected middle and high schools in the central districts of Adana province in years 2017 and 2018. Translation works for the language validity of ERQ-CA were performed by four English language teachers. After receiving the opinions of six lecturers of Cukurova University about the translation, Turkish version of the scale was formed and back translation was done. For the purposes of the study, Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was done in order to measure the construct validity of the adapted ERQ-CA. Findings of the CFA revealed that the questionnaire had two dimensions, namely the reappraisal and suppression subscales, which consisted of six and four items respectively. CFA results were similar for different age groups (10-12, 13-15, 16-18) and both genders. Convergent validity of the questionnaire was evaluated for middle school students by use of the Children’s Depression Inventory, while the Quick Big Five Personality Test was applied for high school students for the same purpose. As expected, depression levels of middle school students presented a positive correlation with the use of the suppression strategy and a negative correlation with the use of the reappraisal strategy. vii Similarly, scores of high school students in the personality subscales of agreeableness, conscientiousness and openness to experience presented a positive correlation with the suppression strategy, while their scores in the extraversion subscale presented a negative correlation with the suppression strategy. In the evaluation made based on the gender factor, it was found out that girls had significantly higher scores than boys in the reappraisal subscale, while boys had significantly higher scores than girls in the suppression subscale. As a result of the test-retest reliability study performed in a threeweek interval, the level of correlation between the first and the second tests was found to be .64 for the reappraisal subscale and .57 for the suppression subscale. On the other hand, the Cronbach alpha internal consistency coefficient was calculated to be .79 for the reappraisal subscale and .53 for the suppression subscale. Findings of the study were discussed based on the opinions and researches in the literature. The Turkish form of the ERQ-CA was determined to be applicable to individuals between 10 and 18 years old.

Tyto dvě oblasti managementu třídy lze měřit dvanáctipoložkovou Škálou managementu chování a výuky (Behavior and Instructional Management Scale – BIMS) (Martin & Sass, 2010), jejíž adaptaci do českého prostředí popisuje prezentovaná studie. Classroom management can be viewed as a system of strategies employed by a teacher to influence the social space of the classroom to foster an environment where learning can occur. Teachers' effective classroom management leads to high student achievement and contributes to teachers remaining in the profession. Two basic dimensions of classroom management can be distinguished: (a) behaviour management, which is directed at both preventing misbehaviour by setting rules and so on and reacting to misbehaviour; and (b) instructional management, which is aimed at well-planned lessons and includes aspects of classroom life such as establishing teaching goals, using instructional methods, and monitoring independent student work. These two dimensions of classroom management can be measured by 12 items on the Behavior and Instructional Management Scale (BIMS; Martin & Sass, 2010), the adaptation to Czech conditions of which we describe in this study. The longer 24-item Czech version of the BIMS (published by the BIMS authors as the basis for questionnaire development) was administered to 123 teachers in lower secondary schools in the city of Brno and its surroundings. Confirmatory factor analysis was conducted for the 12-item scale selected from the final version of the original English BIMS version. The two-factor model of behaviour and instructional management fitted to the data in approximately a similar degree as was the case for the authors of the original method. Exploratory factor analysis was conducted for the longer item set. The modified set of 12 items was suggested as a more suitable version for Czech conditions. For both instrument versions, the internal consistency was found to be of an acceptable level. The original version of the BIMS can be recommended for research purposes if the aim is an international comparison. The modified version suggested by us requires further validation in follow-up studies, as we discuss in this study along with further possible research applications.

Studie popisuje proces překladu a adaptace dotazníku LMX-7 do češtiny a přináší důkazy o reliabilitě a validitě české verze dotazníku. The study describes the process of translating and adapting the LMX-7 questionnaire into Czech and provides evidence about the reliability and validity of the Czech version. LMX-7 measures leader-member exchange which is connected to the quality of the relationship between leaders and followers. The English questionnaire was double translated into Czech, back-translated into English by a native speaker and compared to the original. Afterwards, the adjusted Czech version was piloted in 6 cognitive interviews, modified according to the reactions of respondents and piloted in other 5 cognitive interviews. All questions showed to be comprehensible and respondents answered them in accordance to the LMX theory. The final questionnaire was administrated to 811 Czech-speaking adults working for Czech organizations who assessed the relationship with their leaders. The analyses showed high internal consistency of Czech questionnaire, its unidimensional structure, and high factor loadings of all items. The questionnaire proved metric invariance across groups defined by leaders’ gender, followers’ age and gender, length of relationship between followers and leaders and the number of followers led by a leader. The convergent validity of the questionnaire was supported by the strong relationship between LMX measured by the Czech LMX-7 and both followers’ organizational commitment and their perception of leaders’ effectiveness. Czech LMX-7 showed to be a valid instrument for measuring the quality of the relationship between leaders and followers within the Czech-speaking population.

- Abstract
The Russian language is the eighth most spoken language in the world. Russian speakers reside in Russia, across the former Soviet Union republics, and comprise one of the largest populations of international migrants. However, little is known about their health literacy (HL) and there is limited research on HL instruments in the Russian language. The purpose of this study was to adapt the Health Literacy Questionnaire (HLS
19 -Q) developed within the Health Literacy Survey 2019-2021 (HLS19 ) to the Russian language to study HL in Russian-speaking populations in Germany, Israel, Kazakhstan, Russia, and the USA. The HLS19 -Q was translated either from English or from a national language to Russian in four countries first and then critically reviewed by three Russian-speaking experts for consensus. The HLS19 protocol and "team approach" method were used for linguistic and cultural adaptation. The most challenging was the adaptation of HLS19 -Q questions to each country's healthcare system while general HL questions were flexible and adaptable to specific contexts across all countries. This study provides recommendations for the linguistic and cultural adaptation of HLS19 -Q into different languages and can serve as an example of international collaboration towards this end.- Published

© 2017 Published by T& K Academic.

This study aimed to adapt a medication-related burden instrument, the Living with Medicines Questionnaire (LMQ), into the Arabic context, report the psychometric properties of the Arabic version, and assess the burden resulting from the treatment of chronic conditions in Qatar. The research included two phases. In Phase 1; cultural adaptation was conducted to generate an Arabic version of LMQ (LMQ-AR). In Phase 2, the LMQ-AR was used in a cross-sectional study among patients with chronic conditions in Qatar. Data obtained were used to assess the psychometric properties of the LMQ-AR, as well as to report medication-related burden perceived by patients. Construct validity of the LMQ-AR was evaluated by associating the LMQ-AR score with adherence, measured by the Adherence to Refills and Medications Scale (ARMS), and with global burden assessed by Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). Internal consistency was assessed using Cronbach’s Alpha. A total of 293 patients with diabetes, from different ethnicities, age groups, and educational levels completed the study forms. Of the total sample, 138 patients used the Arabic versions. The domains of LMQ-AR showed acceptable internal consistency with Cronbach’s α ranging from 0.59 to 0.80. The overall LMQ-AR score was positively correlated with ARMS score (rs=0.400, P

In order to be able to correct the asocial behaviour of adolescents, several factors that can have POSITIVE AND DESTRUCTIVE FAMILY an effect on the issue must be understood, these being biological, social, and psychological, as well as understanding the context of the situation itself. Various methods were used to research valuable adolescent family environments, including the questionnaire entitled Positive and Destructive Family, which was developed by Russian authors Since this methodology was not available to researchers in Latvian, the first step to be taken was to adapt this method to the cultural environment of Latvia. (The author’s consent has been received for the use of the questionnaire in scientific work.) The adaptation of the method allows the following steps to be implemented (Hambleton & Patsula, 1998; 1999; 2000; Van de Vijver & Hambleton, 1996): the translation and backward translation of questionnaire observing the context of the cultural environment; empirical verification of the translated questionnaire, thereby establishing its reliability and validity in accordance with the psychometric indicators used to provide a validity check on the factors illustrated in the source survey; the administration of the survey in the new cultural environment; documentation showing the adaptation of the questionnaire and the development of the interpretation of the survey’s values. To date, only some of the aforementioned steps have been implemented and presented. Respondents from sixty families participated in the survey (all of whom were aged in group of 31-68, and who included 42 women and eighteen men). The survey consists of twenty statements to which respondents will reply either positively or negatively (this being the dichotomy scale). Further tasks are related to the complete adaptation and application there of in population surveys in Latvia. Another method for family study that has been adapted in Latvia provides more extensive opportunity for further empirical studies, and will also provide a useful set of instruments for practitioners in psychology. Key words: adolescent deviance, dysfunctional family, questionnaire adaptation.

Purpose of this study is to adapt Behavioral Regulation in Sports Questionnaire (BRSQ) which developed by Lonsdale, Hodge and Rose (2008) in Turkish and review psychometry properties. The scale consists of 24 items and 6 subdimension including intrinsic motivation, integrated regulation, identified regulation, introjected regulation, external regulation and motivation. Study group consists of total 681 student-athlete whom are licensed athletes and study at Physical Education and Sports College of Ahi Evran University, Erciyes University, Dumlupinar University and Çanakkale 18 Mart University. In order to determine psychometry properties of scale internal consistency, material and factor analysis and test-retest methods were applied. Cronbach alpha internal consistency coefficient of the measurement determined as follows; 0.790 for total points, 0.856 for intrinsic motivation subdimension, 0.838 for integrated regulation subdimension, 0.862 for identified regulation subdimension, 0.740 for introjected regulation subdimension, 0.788 for external regulation subdimension and 0.800 for motivation subdimension. In the analyzes performed, the data obtained from the exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the 6-factor structure of the scale. In addition, scale-based analyzes yielded high test-retest scores. In this sense, it is considered that the scale is a valid and reliable measurement tool for the Turkish sample group. © 2018, Sciedu Press.

"The family has great power to influence and change the lives of children and adolescents. Recent studies indicate that family support appears to influence the development of aggressive behaviour. Still claim the existence of a relationship between bullying behaviour and support young people receive from their families. Thus, on the assumption that in children adolescence, parental social support may be the cause of different types of aggressive/victim behaviour, the aim of the present study is to explore the psychometric properties of the Parental Support Questionnaire (QSP- 6) –short form for teens (Clouse, 2007). Therefore, we present the results obtained from a sample of 728 adolescents and youth (372 females and 356 male) aged between 12 and 21 years. The relational structure of 18 items was evaluated by Exploratory Factor Analysis (AFE) of the correlation matrix with factors of extraction by the method of principal components, followed by varimax rotation. Psychometric studies of the QSP-6 reveal, globally, good levels of reliability and validity of the instrument."

47. Adaptation of the methotrexate in rheumatoid arthritis knowledge questionnaire (MiRAK) for use with parents of children with juvenile idiopathic arthritis: a qualitative study
- Abstract
CONCLUSIONS: The systematic modification of the MiRAK, a patient-centred MTX knowledge qu

Sexual satisfaction is an important issue in everyday life of ordinary people, with a chronic disease and without disease. The aims of the present study are to explore the psychometric properties of the Self-Esteem and Relationship (SEAR) questionnaire in women with urinary incontinence and with sexual activity. Urinary incontinence is an event relatively frequent that is growing when society become older. Participants are 54 women with urinary incontinence that maintain sexual activity, aged between 35 and 77 years of age. The adaptation process of the questionnaire, initially developed for males, imposed the change of an item from male perspective for female perspective. Results show good metric properties for the Portuguese version, similar to the ones of the original version.

ABSTRACT: The aim of the present study is to develop a Portuguese version of the original version of the Ways of Coping Questionnaire using a conservative perspective. 98 working women, 49% under age of 30, 77.8% married, scholar level above the Portuguese pattern, answer to the Portuguese version of the original 50 items Folkman and Lazarus (1988) version questionnaire. The Portuguese version adopted after translation and a consensus format of the items, lost two items, conserving 48 of the original items. Psychometric properties are similar to the Ways of Coping Questionnaire. The problems to the Portuguese version are similar to the problems of the original version. We can say that is better, like Edwards and O’Neill (1998) suggestion that users of the WCQ should develop their own scales. info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion

Academic Achievement ,Instructional Preferences ,Questionnaire Adaptation - Abstract
The researches on individual differences and knowledge construction processes in education indicate the importance of the match between teachers’ teaching approaches and students’ preferred learning styles on academic achievements, attitude and improved behaviors in all educational levels. As a result, there is an increase in the number of researches on defining and identifying learning styles preferred by students. The aim of this study is to adapt the questionnaire that is developed by Baeten, Dochy, Struyven, Parmentier and Vanderbruggen (2016), aims to identify student teachers’ instructional preferences and consists of four subdimensions -namely knowledge construction, teacher direction, cooperative learning and passive learning- with 40 items in total into Turkish. The study employs survey method. While the original questionnaire consists of 40 items, in the adapted version six of them were excluded because of either insufficient factor loading or taking place in more than one factor. The remaining 34 items are placed under the four original sub-dimension found in the original questionnaire as follows: knowledge construction 11 items; teacher direction 9 items; cooperative learning 9 items and passive learning 5 items. The reliability coefficients are found to be sufficient in the whole questionnaire and all sub-dimensions. The model is verified in Confirmatory Factor Analysis with a low conformity. © The Turkish Online Journal of Educational Technology.
