Two coordination polymers, [Zn2(bipmo)2(1,4-nda)2] n (1), {[Cd(bipmo)(1,4-nda)]·(H2O)} n (2), (bipmo = bis(4-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)phenyl)methanone, H2(1,4-nda) = naphthalene-1,4-dicarboxylic acid), were synthesized under solvothermal conditions. The complexes have been characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectroscopy and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Complex 1 possesses 3D 2-fold interpenetrating nets with the Schläfli symbol {65·8}. Complex 2 consists a 3D net with the Schläfli symbol {44·610·8}. The luminescent properties of complexes 1 and 2 have been investigated.

BackgroundArtificial intelligence-assisted colonoscopy (AIAC) has been proposed and validated in recent years, but the effectiveness of clinic application remains unclear since it was only validated in some clinical trials rather than normal conditions. In addition, previous clinical trials were mostly concerned with colorectal polyp identification, while fewer studies are focusing on adenoma identification and polyps size measurement. In this study, we validated the effectiveness of AIAC in the clinical environment and further investigated its capacity for adenoma identification and polyps size measurement.MethodsThe information of 174 continued patients who went for coloscopy in Chongqing Rongchang District People’s hospital with detected colon polyps was retrospectively collected, and their coloscopy images were divided into three validation datasets, polyps dataset, polyps/adenomas dataset (all containing narrow band image, NBI images), and polyp size measurement dataset (images with biopsy forceps and polyps) to assess the competence of the artificial intelligence system, and compare its diagnostic ability with endoscopists with different experiences.ResultsA total of 174 patients were included, and the sensitivity of the colorectal polyp recognition model was 99.40%, the accuracy of the colorectal adenoma diagnostic model was 93.06%, which was higher than that of endoscopists, and the mean absolute error of the polyp size measurement model was 0.62 mm and the mean relative error was 10.89%, which was lower than that of endoscopists.ConclusionArtificial intelligence-assisted model demonstrated higher competence compared with endoscopists and stable diagnosis ability in clinical use.

Background Alport syndrome (ATS) is a rare hereditary disease caused by mutations in genes such as COL4A3, COL4A4, and COL4A5. ATS involves a spectrum of phenotypes ranging from isolated hematuria that is nonprogressive to progressive renal disease with extrarenal abnormalities. Although ATS can be combined with other diseases or syndromes, ATS combined with lupus nephritis has not been reported before. Case summary A Chinese family with ATS was recruited for the current study. Clinical characteristics (including findings from renal biopsy) of ATS patients were collected from medical records, and potential causative genes were explored by whole-exome sequencing. A heterozygous substitution in intron 22 of COL4A3 (NM_000091 c.2657-1G>A) was found in the patients, which was further confirmed by quantitative polymerase chain reaction. Conclusion Heterozygous substitution of a COL4A3 gene splice site was identified by whole-exome sequencing, revealing the molecular pathogenic basis of this disorder. In general, identification of pathogenic genes can help to fully understand the molecular mechanism of disease and facilitate precise treatment.

Clinical vertebral fractures and femoral neck fractures are severe osteoporotic fractures that increase morbidity and mortality. Anthropometric variables are associated with an increased risk of osteoporotic fractures, but it is not clear whether body surface area (BSA) has an effect on clinically severe osteoporotic fractures. The study included total of 3,694 cases of clinical vertebral fractures and femoral neck fractures (2,670 females and 1,024 males) and 3,694 controls without fractures who were matched with the cases by sex and age. There was a significant positive correlation between BSA and bone mineral density (BMD) in female and male fracture patients (females: r = 0.430–0.471, P < 0.001; males: r = 0.338–0.414, P < 0.001). There was a significant systematic increase in BMD in both genders at various skeletal sites, grouped by BSA quartile. The osteoporosis rates of the lumbar spine (97.9%), femoral neck (92.4%) and total hip (87.1%) in the female Q1 group were significantly higher than those in the Q4 group (P < 0.001), which were 80.0%, 57.9% and 36.9%, respectively, in the Q4 group; the osteoporosis rates of the lumbar spine, femoral neck, and total hip were 53.9%, 59.4%, and 36.3% in the male Q1 group, and 15.2%, 21.9%, and 7.03% in the Q4 group, which were significantly lower than those in the Q1 group (P < 0.001). In age-adjusted Cox regression models, the risk of fracture in the remaining three groups (Q2, Q3, and Q4) for weight, BMI, and BSA for both genders, compared with the highest quartile (Q1 by descending quartile stratification) were significantly higher. In models adjusted for age and BMD, only men in the BSA Q3 (HR = 1.55, 95% CI = 1.09–2.19) and BSA Q4 groups (HR = 1.41, 95% CI = 1.05–1.87) had significantly higher fracture risks. In models adjusted for age, height, weight, BMI, and BSA, low BMD was the greatest fracture risks for both sexes. Our results showed that BSA was closely related to BMD, prevalence of osteoporosis, and fracture risk, and that a decline in BSA may be a new potential risk factor for osteoporotic fractures in Chinese men.

Objective (1) To report the neodymium:yttrium–aluminum–garnet (Nd:YAG) laser posterior capsulotomy rate (%) of eight rigid and foldable intraocular lens (IOL) designs in a series of 5416 pseudophakic human eyes obtained postmortem, accessioned in our center between January 1988 and January 2000. (2) To identify factors that are instrumental in reducing the incidence of posterior capsule opacification, (PCO, secondary cataract) and hence the need for Nd:YAG laser posterior capsulotomy. Design Comparative autopsy tissue analysis. Participants A total of 5416 globes with posterior chamber intraocular lens (PC-IOLs) obtained postmortem received from Lions Eye Banks between 1988 and 2000. Methods Miyake-Apple posterior photographic technique. Special reference was given to the presence or absence of Nd:YAG laser posterior capsulotomy orifice on the posterior capsule of each eye. Main outcome measures The Nd:YAG laser posterior capsulotomy rate (%) as of January 2000 was documented. In addition, the Nd:YAG laser posterior capsulotomy rate for each lens was plotted on a monthly basis for the same period, creating a computerized trend or "timeline" for each IOL style. Results Relatively high Nd:YAG laser posterior capsulotomy rates ranging from 20.3% to 33.4% were noted with four relatively older designs (high incidence of implantation between 1988 and the early 1990s). Four modern foldable IOLs manufactured from silicone and acrylic materials had significantly lower Nd:YAG laser posterior capsulotomy rates ranging from 0.9% (Alcon Acrysof) to 17.1%. The difference in Nd:YAG rates among the eight IOL designs was found to be significant ( P Conclusions By use of the six factors regarding surgical technique and IOL choice described in this article, we strongly believe that the overall incidence of PCO and hence the incidence of Nd:YAG laser posterior capsulotomy is now rapidly decreasing from rates as high as 50% in the 1980s to early 1990s. Surgical tools and IOLs are now available to bring these rates down to single digits. Careful application and use of these tools by surgeons can genuinely lead in the direction of virtual eradication of secondary cataract, the second most common cause of visual loss worldwide.

Aims. Colon cancer (CRC), with high morbidity and mortality, is a common and highly malignant cancer, which always has a bad prognosis. So it is urgent to employ a reasonable manner to assess the prognosis of patients. We developed and validated a gene model for predicting CRC risk. Methods. The Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database was used to extract the gene expression profiles of CRC patients ( N = 181 ) from GEO to identify genes that were differentially expressed between CRC patients and controls and then stable signature genes by firstly using both robust likelihood-based modeling with 1000 iterations and random survival forest variable hunting algorithms. Cluster analysis using the longest distance method was drawn out, and Kaplan–Meier (KM) survival analysis was used to compare the clusters. Meanwhile, the risk score was evaluated in three independent datasets including the GEO and Illumina HiSeq sequencing platforms. The corresponding risk index was calculated, and samples were clustered into high- and low-risk groups according to the median. And survival ROC analysis was used to evaluate the prognostic model. Finally, the Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA) was performed for further functional enrichment analyses. Results. A 10-gene model was obtained, including 7 negative impact factors (SLC39A14, AACS, ERP29, LAMP3, TMEM106C, TMED2, and SLC25A3) and 3 positive ones (CNPY2, GRB10, and PBK), which related with several important oncogenic pathways (KRAS signaling, TNF-α signaling pathway, and WNT signaling pathway) and several cancer-related cellular processes (epithelial mesenchymal transition and cellular apoptosis). By using colon cancer datasets from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), the model was validated in KM survival analysis ( P ≤ 0.001 ) and significant analysis with recurrence time ( P = 0.0018 ). Conclusions. This study firstly developed a stable and effective 10-gene model by using novel combined methods, and CRC patients might be able to use it as a prognostic marker for predicting their survival and monitoring their long-term treatment.

Although recent guidelines recommend endoscopic resection of rectal neuroendocrine tumors (NET) ≤10 mm, there is no consensus on which endoscopic modality should be performed. We aimed to compare the safety and efficacy of modified cap-assisted endoscopic mucosal resection (mEMR-C) and endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) methods for the treatment of rectal NET ≤10 mm.A randomized noninferiority trial comparing mEMR-C and ESD was conducted. The primary outcome was the histological complete resection rate; the secondary outcomes included en bloc resection rate, operation time, complications, and so on. Subgroup analyses and follow-up were also performed.Ninety patients were enrolled, and 79 patients with pathologically confirmed rectal NET were finally analyzed, including 38 cases of mEMR-C and 41 cases of ESD. Histological complete resection rate was 97.4% in the mEMR-C group and 92.7% in the ESD group. The noninferiority of mEMR-C compared with that of ESD was confirmed because the absolute difference was 4.7% (2-sided 90% confidence interval, -3.3% to 12.2%; P = 0.616). En bloc resection and successful removal of rectal NET were achieved in all patients. Advantages of mEMR-C over ESD included shorter operation time (8.89 ± 4.58 vs 24.8 ± 9.14 minutes, P0.05) and lower hospitalization cost ($2,233.76 ± $717.70 vs $2,987.27 ± $871.81, P0.05). Postoperative complications were recorded in 4 patients who received mEMR-C and 2 patients in the ESD group (11.5% vs 4.9%, P = 0.509), which were all well managed using endoscopy. Similar findings were observed when subgroup analysis was performed.mEMR-C is noninferior to ESD with a similar complete resection rate. The long short-term memory (LSTM) model trained on the universal language modeling task overcomes the bottleneck of vanishing gradients in the traditional recurrent neural network (RNN) and shows excellent performance in processing multiple tasks generated by natural language processing. Although LSTM effectively alleviates the vanishing gradient problem in the RNN, the information will be greatly lost in the long distance transmission, and there are still some limitations in its practical use. In this paper, we propose a new model called NEWLSTM, which improves the LSTM model, and alleviates the defects of too many parameters in LSTM and the vanishing gradient. The NEWLSTM model directly correlates the cell state information with current information. The traditional LSTM's input gate and forget gate are integrated, some components are deleted, the problems of too many LSTM parameters and complicated calculations are solved, and the iteration time is effectively reduced. In this paper, a neural network model is used to identify the relationship between input information sequences to predict the language sequence. The experimental results show that the improved new model is simpler than traditional LSTM models and LSTM variants on multiple test sets. NEWLSTM has better overall stability and can better solve the sparse words problem.

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of mesenchymal stem cell (MSC)-derived exosomes on diabetes mellitus-induced myocardial injury, and the underlying mechanism. Thirty adult male Sprague Dawley rats were randomly assigned to three groups of ten rats each: normal control group, diabetic control group and MSC exosomes group. Exosomes were isolated from MSCs through gradient ultracentrifugation. With the exception of normal control, diabetes mellitus (DM) was induced in the rats with a single intraperitoneal injection of 30 mg/kg body weight streptozotocin (STZ) in 0.1 mol/L sodium citrate buffer. Rats in MSC exosomes group were intravenously injected with MSC-derived exosomes once a week for 12 weeks. Left ventricular collagen (LVC) level was measured using acid hydrolysis method. Fatty acid transporters (FATPs) and fatty acid beta oxidase (FA-β-oxidase) were determined using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Gene and protein expressions of TGF-β and Smad2 were determined using real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) and Western blotting. Flow cytometric analysis and Western blotting revealed positive expression of exosomal specific marker, CD63. The level of LVC was significantly higher in diabetic control group than in normal control group, but was significantly reduced after treatment with MSC-derived exosomes (p < 0.05). The levels of FATPs and FA-β-oxidase were significantly lower in diabetic control group than in normal control group (p < 0.05). However, treatment with MSC-derived exosomes significantly increased the levels of these proteins (p < 0.05). The levels of expression of TGF-β1 and Smad2 mRNAs were significantly higher in the diabetic control group than in normal control group, but were significantly reduced after treatment with MSC-derived exosomes (p < 0.05). The expressions of TGF-β1 and Smad2 proteins were also significantly upregulated in diabetic control group, when compared with normal control group (p < 0.05). However, treatment with MSC-derived exosomes significantly down-regulated the expression of these proteins (p < 0.05). The results obtained in this study indicate that MSC-derived exosomes improve DM-induced myocardial injury and fibrosis via inhibition of TGF-β1/Smad2 signaling pathway.

In this study, we develop a simple heterodyne interferometric ellipsometer, which is a heterodyne interferometer based on a dual-frequency, linearly polarized laser that is integrated with a common-path interferometric configuration. This device can measure ellipsometric parameters with high accuracy because it incorporates a method to calibrate the polarization effect of the beam splitter and the nonidentical characteristics of the photodetectors. The measured deviation in the ellipsometric parameters of a quarter-wave plate was less than 0.9%. The measurement results for a thin gold film deposited on silicon substrate were compared with those obtained by a commercial ellipsometer.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The expanded repeat length in ATXN1 negatively correlates with age at onset (AAO) of spinocerebellar ataxia type 1 (SCA1) but can explain only part of it, indicating that other factors affect AAO. Some studies have explored the influence of non-causative CAG repeats on the AAO of SCA patients. However, studies on Chinese SCA1 patients regarding candidate modifier factors involved in the variability in AAO are rare. METHODS In all, 152 Chinese SCA1 patients who were genotyped for ATXN1 and nine other (CAG)n -containing genes were enrolled. Regression analysis was performed to determine the effect of the expanded allele of ATXN1 (linear and quadratic effects) on AAO. Then, different models were used to explore the modulatory effect of nine other (CAG)n -containing genes. RESULTS Our results verified the negative effect of the expanded allele in ATXN1 by regression analysis. Some (CAG)n -containing genes including TBP, ATN1 and HTT modified AAO with variance ranging from 0.8% to 3.8% and tended to decrease or delay AAO. However, no modifier effects of ATXN2, ATXN3, CACNA1A, ATXN7, KCNN3, RAI1 and normal ATXN1 alleles in trans were detected. CONCLUSION By using interaction analyses, TBP, ATN1 and HTT were determined to have modifying effects. Our study revealed that differences in modulation may be due to ethnic and geographic diversity across different populations. Furthermore, the variability of AAO was not completely explained by the genetic modifiers examined here, suggesting that other genetic or environmental factors are involved in these diseases.

Heading date is crucial for rice reproduction and the geographical expansion of cultivation. We fine-mapped qHD5 and identified LOC_Os05g03040, a gene that encodes an AP2 transcription factor, as the candidate gene of qHD5 in our previous study. In this article, using two near-isogenic lines NIL(BG1) and NIL(XLJ), which were derived from the progeny of the cross between BigGrain1 (BG1) and Xiaolijing (XLJ), we verified that LOC_Os05g03040 represses heading date in rice through genetic complementation and CRISPR/Cas9 gene-editing experiments. Objective. To systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of scalp acupuncture in the treatment of insomnia. Methods. CNKI, Wanfang database, CQVIP database, CBM, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and PubMed were searched for the literature on the treatment of insomnia by scalp acupuncture from the establishment of the database to July 23, 2020. Two researchers independently screened the literatures and extracted the data, then evaluated the quality of the literatures, and used RevMan 5.3 software for statistical analysis. Results. A total of 21 studies including 1606 cases were included. 21 studies were included in the analysis of effective rate. The heterogeneity test showed that there was no significant heterogeneity. The fixed effect model was used, P P values of the drug group and the blank group were both less than 0.05, indicating that the improvement of PSQI score in the scalp acupuncture treatment of insomnia was significantly better than that in the drug group and the blank group; P = 0.05 in other acupuncture groups, suggesting in scalp acupuncture treatment, there was no difference between insomnia and other acupuncture in improving the PSQI score. Six studies were included in the analysis of adverse events. The heterogeneity test showed no significant heterogeneity. The fixed effect model was used, P = 0.04 P = 0.001, PSQI score P = 0.001) and funnel plot showed publication bias. Conclusion. Scalp acupuncture is effective and safe in the treatment of insomnia, which is worthy of clinical application. However, due to the limited number of included literature, the methodology of some studies is slightly low and the quality of literature is slightly poor. In the future, we need to design rigorous, large sample, multiple center randomized controlled study to further verify the conclusion of this study.

Blue laser imaging (BLI) can provide useful information on colorectal laterally spreading tumors (LSTs) by visualizing the surface and vessel patterns in detail. The present research aimed to evaluate the diagnostic performance of BLI-combined JNET (Japan NBI Expert Team) classification for identifying LSTs. This retrospective, multicenter study included 172 LSTs consisted of 6 hyperplastic polyps/sessile serrated polyps, 94 low-grade dysplasias (LGD), 60 high-grade dysplasias (HGD), 6 superficial submucosal invasive (m-SMs) carcinomas, and 4 deep submucosal invasive carcinomas. The relationship between the JNET classification and the histologic findings of these lesions were then analyzed. For all LSTs, non-experts and experts had a 79.7% and 90.7% accuracy for Type 2A (P = 0.004), a sensitivity of 94.7% and 96.8% (P = 0.718), and a specificity of 61.5% and 83.3% (P = 0.002) for prediction of LGD, respectively. The results also demonstrated 80.8% and 91.3% accuracy for Type 2B (P = 0.005), a sensitivity of 65.2% and 83.3% (P = 0.017), and a specificity of 90.6% and 96.2% (P = 0.097) for predicting HGD or m-SMs. For LST-granular (LST-G) lesions, Type 2A in experts had higher specificity (65.6% vs. 83.6%, P = 0.022) and accuracy (81.8% vs. 91.2%, P = 0.022). Type 2B in experts only had higher accuracy (82.5% vs. 92.0%, P = 0.019). However, no significant differences were noted for any comparisons between non-experts and experts for LST-non-granular (LST-NG) lesions. BLI combined with JNET classification was an effective method for the precise prediction of pathological diagnosis in patients with LSTs. Diagnostic performance of JNET classification by experts was better than that by non-experts for all examined LST or LST-G lesions when delineating between Type 2A and 2B, but there was no difference for the identification of LST-NG lesions by these two groups.

Tire pyrolysis char (TPC) was used as a carrier to prepare Ni/TPC catalyst by homogeneous precipitation method. The characteristic of synthetic catalyst was determined by EDX, SEM, XRD, TG and BET. Meanwhile, the performance of Ni/TPC catalyst including reforming temperature, holding time, nickel loading and usage time on the straw pyrolysis gas reforming was investigated in a tube furnace. The results showed that TPC was rich in char and metal. Ni was well loaded on TPC which had a good thermal stability with a specific surface area of 62 m2/g. The Ni/TPC catalyst could obviously improve the burning gas content. The highest catalytic efficiency was obtained at reforming temperature of 750°C and 10 min holding time with 30% Ni loading. The content of H2 in the gas was high and relatively increased by 50% after using the catalyst for 850 min. The Ni3ZnC0.7 active component structure converted to FeNi3 after long-term used with high and stable catalytic activity. TPC had the ability to be a new type of carrier for nickel catalyst.

Polygala tenuifolia Willd. is an important protected species used in traditional Chinese medicine. In the present study, amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) markers were employed to characterize the genetic diversity in wild and cultivated P. tenuifolia populations. Twelve primer combinations of AFLP produced 310 unambiguous and repetitious bands. Among these bands, 261 (84.2%) were polymorphic. The genetic diversity was high at the species level: percentage of polymorphic loci (PPL)=84.2%, Nei's gene diversity (h)=0.3296 and Shannon's information index (I)=0.4822. Between the two populations, the genetic differentiation of 0.1250 was low and the gene flow was relatively high, at 3.4989. The wild population (PPL=81.9%, h=0.3154, I=0.4635) showed a higher genetic diversity level than the cultivated population (PPL=63.9%, h=0.2507, I=0.3688). The results suggest that the major factors threatening the persistence of P. tenuifolia resources are ecological and human factors rather than genetic. These results will assist with the design of conservation and management programs, such as in natural habitat conservation, setting the excavation time interval for resource regeneration and the substitution of cultivated for wild plants.

Arterial calcification is a major complication of cardiovascular disease. Oestrogen replacement therapy in postmenopausal women is associated with lower levels of coronary artery calcification, but its mechanism of action remains unclear. Here, we show that oestrogen inhibits the osteoblastic differentiation of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) in vitro and arterial calcification in vivo by promoting autophagy. Through electron microscopy, GFP–LC3 redistribution, and immunofluorescence analyses as well as measurement of the expression of the autophagosome marker light-chain I/II (LC3I/II) and autophagy protein 5 (Atg5), we show that autophagy is increased in VSMCs by oestrogen in vitro and in vivo. The inhibitory effect of oestrogen on arterial calcification was counteracted by 3-methyladenine (3MA) or knockdown of Atg5 and was increased by rapamycin. Furthermore, the inhibitory effect of oestrogen on arterial calcification and the degree of autophagy induced by oestrogen were blocked by a nonselective oestrogen receptor (ER) antagonist (ICI 182780), a selective oestrogen receptor alpha (ERα) antagonist (MPP), and ERα-specific siRNA. Our data indicate that oestrogen inhibits the osteoblastic differentiation of VSMCs by promoting autophagy through the ERα signalling pathway in vitro and arterial calcification in vivo by increasing autophagy. Our findings provide new insights into the mechanism by which oestrogen contributes to vascular calcification in vitro and in vivo.

This paper proposes the theoretical design of a polarized interferometric fiber-optic gyroscope (IFOG). The polarized IFOG utilizes a coherent light source and polarization elements (Faraday rotators and polarizing beam splitter) to obtain maximum visibility of an interference signal and to compensate for the birefringent effect of a single-mode fiber coil in an IFOG.

Liver cancer is the sixth most prevalent cancer worldwide and the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths. Adriamycin (ADR) resistance, which often leads to the progression of malignant tumors, is a major treatment obstacle for liver cancer. It has been confirmed that miR-155-5p could reverse drug resistance in human breast cancer. However, the biological function of miR-155-5p in ADR-resistant liver carcinoma (HepG2/ADR) cells remains unclear. miR-155-5p and ATG5 expression was determined by RT-qPCR and western blot. In addition, MTT, flow cytometry, immunofluorescence staining, and western blotting were performed to evaluate the proliferation, apoptosis, and autophagy of liver cancer cells. Finally, the effect of miR-155-5p on the expression of autophagy-related 5 (ATG5) was analyzed by luciferase activity assay, western blot, and RT-qPCR. Our results showed that miR-155-5p was downregulated in HepG2/ADR cells. Increasing the expression of miR-155-5p enhanced the sensitivity of liver carcinoma cells to ADR and promoted apoptosis through inhibition of autophagy in vitro. In addition, the binding site between miR-155-5p and ATG5 was identified, and miR-155-5p could directly regulate ATG5. Finally, ATG5 partially rescued the effect of miR-155-5p on autophagy and the apoptosis of HepG2/ADR cells. In conclusion, our findings showed that miR-155-5p could reverse ADR resistance in liver cancer by targeting ATG5, which may function as a potential target for liver cancer treatment.

Lignin was isolated from wheat straw via organosolv process and further transferred to monophenolic compounds via oxidative conversion. Wheat straw lignin (WSL) with purity at 91.4 wt% was acquired in the presence of heterogeneous and recyclable catalyst of Amberlyst‐45. WSL was characterized by infrared spectrometer (IR), nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) including 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectra. The results showed that WSL possesses typical syringyl (S), guaiacyl (G), and p‐hydroxyphenyl (H) units, and it is mainly composed of S and G units. The product distribution was dependent on the composition of WSL. Derivatives from S and G units were found to be the main products. The oxidative conversion of WSL was performed by varying oxidant and catalyst. Both the formation of monophenolic compounds and aromatic aldehydes were enhanced by combining oxidants and catalysts. The composite catalyst composed of NaOH/NaAlO2 was effective for the oxidation of WSL in the presence of nitrobenzene and atmospheric pressure air. The total yield of monophenolic compounds reached up 18.1%, and yields at 6.3 and 5.7% for syringaldehyde and vanillin were achieved, respectively., The oxidative conversion of lignin isolated from wheat straw into aromatic compounds was investigated. Wheat straw lignin with high purity at 91.4 wt% was first isolated via organosolv process in the presence of green and recyclable catalyst of Amberlyst‐45. The oxidative conversion of lignin was then performed using NaOH/NaAlO2 as composite catalyst, and the total yield of monophenolic compounds reached 18.1%.

The LDA (Latent Dirichlet Allocation) model is an unsupervised learning model that can extract potential topics in the corpus. It is widely used in natural language processing applications. The combination of SVM (Support Vector Machines) and LDA has better text classification effect. However, because the mature kernel function of SVM and its parameter selection can only be selected according to experience, with certain randomness, it has a great influence on classification accuracy. This paper proposes an optimized LDA-SVM text classification method using Particle Swarm optimization (PSO). The algorithm (PSO) optimizes the SVM error penalty parameter C to improve the LDA-SVM text classification algorithm. The experimental results show that the LDA-PSO-SVM text classification algorithm proposed in this paper has higher accuracy and better classification performance than other algorithms.

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of mesenchymal stem cell (MSC)-derived exosomes on diabetes mellitus-induced myocardial injury, and the underlying mechanism. Thirty adult male Sprague Dawley rats were randomly assigned to three groups of ten rats each: normal control group, diabetic control group and MSC exosomes group. Exosomes were isolated from MSCs through gradient ultracentrifugation. With the exception of normal control, diabetes mellitus (DM) was induced in the rats with a single intraperitoneal injection of 30 mg/kg body weight streptozotocin (STZ) in 0.1 mol/L sodium citrate buffer. Rats in MSC exosomes group were intravenously injected with MSC-derived exosomes once a week for 12 weeks. Left ventricular collagen (LVC) level was measured using acid hydrolysis method. Fatty acid transporters (FATPs) and fatty acid beta oxidase (FA-β-oxidase) were determined using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Gene and protein expressions of TGF-β and Smad2 were determined using real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) and Western blotting. Flow cytometric analysis and Western blotting revealed positive expression of exosomal specific marker, CD63. The level of LVC was significantly higher in diabetic control group than in normal control group, but was significantly reduced after treatment with MSC-derived exosomes (plt; 0.05). The levels of FATPs and FA-β-oxidase were significantly lower in diabetic control group than in normal control group (plt; 0.05). However, treatment with MSC-derived exosomes significantly increased the levels of these proteins (plt; 0.05). The levels of expression of TGF-β1 and Smad2 mRNAs were significantly higher in the diabetic control group than in normal control group, but were significantly reduced after treatment with MSC-derived exosomes (plt; 0.05). The expressions of TGF-β1 and Smad2 proteins were also significantly upregulated in diabetic control group, when compared with normal control group (plt; 0.05). However, treatment with MSC-derived exosomes significantly down-regulated the expression of these proteins (plt; 0.05). The results obtained in this study indicate that MSC-derived exosomes improve DM-induced myocardial injury and fibrosis via inhibition of TGF-β1/Smad2 signaling pathway.

Femoral neck geometric parameters (FNGPs) are closely related to the strength of the femoral neck and the risk of fragility fractures. No reference database is available for FNGPs for Chinese population, and gender-related differences in FNGPs as well as their association with the risk of femoral neck fractures are unknown. This investigation aimed to set up reference databases for FNGPs, understand gender-related differences in FNGPs, and examine the association between FNGPs and the risk of osteoporotic fractures of the femoral neck. This study included 5268 females and 2156 males (aged 15-91years) from Chinese population. A total of 384 patients (282 females and 102 males) had sustained femoral neck fractures; 384 age- and sex-matched individuals without any fractures served as controls. Femoral neck DXA images were used to measure bone mineral density (BMD) and eight FNGPs. Our results showed that the age-related trends of FNGPs were fitted with the best goodness-of-fit by applying the cubic regression model. The trends shown by FNGPs were significantly different between male and female subjects, and the fitting curves were significantly higher in male subjects. After adjustments were made for age, height, weight, and body mass index, Cox regression analysis showed that changes in all FNGPs were related to increased hazard ratios (HRs) of femoral neck fractures. After further adjustment was made for BMD of the femoral neck, the HRs related to a cortical thickness (CT) decrease and buckling ratio (BR) increase in females went up by 3.35-folds (95% CI: 2.75-4.07) and 1.86-folds (95% CI: 1.33-2.60), respectively. In males, the HRs related to the decrease in CT and cross-sectional area (CSA) increased by 3.21-folds (95% CI: 2.32-4.45) and 1.88-folds (95% CI: 1.03-3.44), respectively. In conclusions, the reference databases of FNGPs established in this study will assist in the evaluation and prediction of femoral neck fracture risk in the clinic. The decrease in CT and increase in BR of the femoral neck were independent risk factors for osteoporotic fractures of the femoral neck in females from mainland China, while a decrease in CT and CSA were risk factors in male.
