The present work addresses the estimation of residual stresses in rotary friction welded components using a structural simulation. The starting point is a process simulation for friction welding, which has been elaborated in prior works to predict the temperatures and the material flow. This model is unsuitable for residual stress predicitons, however, due to its underlying material model among other reasons. Therefore, the material simulation is a major focus of this work. Because of their wide use in friction welding applications, the focus shall be on steels. In this work, a practical parameterization for a phenomenological phase transformation model is proposed and the flow properties of the material are derived based on the phase transformation points. The predicted phase transformations are validated by hardness measurements, and the flow properties by non-isothermal hot tensile testing. The developed model is capable of reproducing various examples and phenomena from literature and from industrial applications that are associated with high residual stresses. In addition, general recommendations for a residual stress compliant design have been derived., Die vorliegende Arbeit befasst sich mit der Abschätzung der Eigenspannungen in reibgeschweißten Bauteilen mithilfe einer Struktursimulation. Den Ausgangspunkt bildet eine Prozesssimulation für das Reibschweißen, welche in vorangegangen Arbeiten entwickelt worden ist, um die Temperaturen und den Materialfluss zu prädiktieren. Unter anderem durch das zugrundeliegende Materialmodell ist diese jedoch zur Eigenspannungsvorhersage ungeeignet, weshalb die Materialsimulation einen wesentlichen Arbeitsschwerpunkt darstellt. Angesichts der hohen industriellen Verbreitung liegt der Fokus hier auf Stählen. In der Arbeit wird eine praktische Parametrisierung für ein phänomenologisches Phasenumwandlungsmodell vorgeschlagen und es werden ausgehend von den Phasenumwandlungspunkten die Fließeigenschaften des Stahls abgeleitet. Die Validierung der prädiktierten Phasenumwandlungen erfolgt anhand von Härtemessungen, die der Fließeigenschaften anhand von anisothermen Warmzugversuchen. Das erstellte Modell ist in der Lage verschiedene Beispiele und Phänomene aus der Literatur und Praxis abzubilden, die im Zusammenhang mit hohen Eigenspannungen stehen. Darüber hinaus sind allgemeine Empfehlungen für eine eigenspannungsgerechte Gestaltung abgeleitet worden.

Die Diplomarbeit befasst sich mit der algorithmischen Generierung und Optimierung von Grundrissen im architektonischen Entwurf.Obwohl das Entwerfen von Grundrissen ein sehr zeitaufwändiger Prozess ist, wird in der architektonischen Praxis nur selten von der Möglichkeit zur automatischen Generierung jener Gebrauch gemacht. Ein Grund liegt in der gewohnten Arbeitsweise der Architekturschaffenden, die eine weitgehende Kontrolle über den räumlichen Allokationsprozess erfordert und die mit bisherigen generativen Verfahren nur schwer zu erreichen ist.In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird ein Verfahren vorgestellt, bei dem Funktionen bzw. Räume in Gruppen eingeteilt werden und diese dann vom Benützenden mittels korrespondierender Attraktoren intuitiv innerhalb einer Gebäudegeometrie zugewiesen und anschließend vom entwickelten Algorithmus verteilt und optimiert werden., The thesis deals with the algorithmic generation and optimization of floor plans inarchitectural design.Although the design of floor plans is a very time-consuming process, the option ofgenerating them automatically is rarely used in architectural practice. One reasonis the common way how architects work, which requires extensive control over thespatial allocation process, which has been difficult to achieve with current generative methods.In the present work, a method is proposed in which functions or rooms are divided into groups and these are then intuitively assigned by the user by means of corresponding attractors within a building geometry and then distributed and optimized by the developed algorithm.

The determinination of material properties is an essential step in the simulation of manufacturing processes. For hot deformation processes, consistently assessed Carreau fluid constitutive model derived in prior works by Schmicker et al. might be used, in which the flow stress is described as a function of the current temperature and the current strain rate. The following paper aims to extend the prior mentioned model by making a distinction, whether the material is being heated or cooled, enhancing the model capabilities to predict deformations within the cooling process. The experimental identifaction of the material parameters is demonstrated for a structural carbon steel with 0.54% carbon content. An approach to derive the flow properties during cooling from the same samples used at heating is presented, which massively reduces the experimental effort in future applications.

This paper analyzes the workings of liability when harm-inflicting consumers are present biased and both product safety and consumer care influence expected harm. We show that present bias introduces a rationale for shifting some losses onto the manufacturer, in stark contrast with the baseline scenario in which strict consumer liability induces socially optimal product safety and precaution levels. In addition, we establish that strict liability with contributory negligence may induce socially optimal product safety and precaution choices without aggravating the output level distortion.
