This paper presents a simple method to size a concentrated winding permament magnet synchronous machine when a high number of slots is needed. A classical concentrated winding machine leads to a number of pole pairs close to the number of slots to be efficient. Thanks to a two slots pitches winding, number of slots can be doubled without deteriorate the winding factor. Moreover, this specific winding is also useful to deal with embarassing magnetomotive force harmonics. The method is detailed here for a specific case of a machine with integrated power converter. Sizing of the machine is also presented and finite element simulations results show performances of this design compared to a conventional one. This paper presents a rotor bars fault diagnosis in low-speed for the induction motor drive. The backstepping algorithm is employed to preserve a good control performance and to avoid different uncertainties in order to have good signals acquisition for the diagnosis process. The used technique for the fault detection is the discrete wavelet transforms which applied to analyze the stator phase current and the output signal of the speed regulator. Furthermore, the calculation of the energy stored in each decomposition can evaluate the effect of the fault. The controls of the induction motor and their diagnosis have been investigated experimentally using Matlab/Simulink environment with Real-Time interface based on the dSpace 1104.

This paper presents an inter-turn short circuit detection through the measurement of external magnetic field of induction motor. The technique of analysis is based on discrete wavelet transform energy in transient state where the machine operates at start-up and standstill states. The wavelet offers a very fine analysis of the unidimensional and two-dimensional signals. Through multilevel discrete wavelet decomposition, it is possible to extract the information for the prognosis of the fault in variable state of the machine. The stored energy calculation in each decomposition can evaluate the severity of the fault compared with the analysis of only the external magnetic field.

International audience; The aims of this work is to appreciate the degree of relevance of the use the external magnetic field for diagnosis applications in the field of electrical traction provided by external rotor permanent magnets synchronous machines. A numerical modeling using the finite element method has been developed to simulate the behavior of the machine in operating generator in healthy and in faulty modes. Furthermore, the principle of the method of measuring the external magnetic field and the optimization of the magnetic sensors positions are explained. The study was validated by an experimental approach.

A considerable number of communities throughout the world, most of them isolated, need hybrid energy solutions either for rural electrification or for the reduction of diesel use. Despite several research projects and demonstrations which have been conducted in recent years, wind-diesel technology remains complex and much too costly. Induction generators are the most robust and common for wind energy systems but this option is a serious challenge for electrical regulation. When a wind turbine is used in an off-grid configuration, either continuously or intermittently, precise and robust regulation is difficult to attain. The voltage parameter regulation option, as was experienced at several remote sites (on islands and in the arctic for example), is a safe, reliable and relatively simple technology, but does not optimize the wave quality and creates instabilities. These difficulties are due to the fact that no theory is available to describe the system, due to the inverse nature of the problem. In order to address and solve the problem of the unstable operation of this wind turbine generator, an innovative approach is described, based on a different induction generator single phase equivalent circuit.

The authors present a detailed modelling study and a control system for a hybrid electric vehicle with four separate wheel drives. This configuration allows an improvement in the operability and thereby the safety of vehicles either during cornering or under slippery road conditions. Using electric motors it is possible to implement a quick and precise torque control. In order to obtain a better and precise dynamic performance a combined strategy Slip-ESP (electronic stability program) is created. A ‘fuzzy estimator of vehicle speed’ which assures the reference vehicle speed used in the control system is also presented.

The aim of this paper is to present a traction control algorithm for an electric vehicle (EV) with four separate wheel drives. This algorithm is necessary to improve the handling and stability of EV during cornering or under slippery road conditions. It distributes the traction power among four drives and especially an independent torque reference on each wheel. The proposed algorithm is implemented in terms of a hierarchical architecture, which incorporates all new known vehicle systems ABS (anti-lock brake system), ASR (anti slip regulation), ESP (electronic stability program). To achieve good performance a correlation of the traction controller with motor performance has been implemented. Several simulation results, which show the potential of such a algorithm, are presented.
