There is evidence to suggest that M‐type phospholipase A2 (PLA2R) antibodies activate the mannose‐binding lectin (MBL) cascade, resulting in glomerular damage and proteinuria in patients with primary membranous nephropathy (PMN). Furthermore, there are few reports indicating that aberrant MBL activation is associated with endothelial dysfunction and accelerated atherosclerosis. While PMN is a common cause of adult nephrotic syndrome, and patients are at increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD), there is a lack of research that explores the factors that contribute to this condition. This study aims to determine the MBL levels in PMN and their relation to the clinical activity and endothelial dysfunction in PMN. The MBL levels of 22 biopsy‐confirmed PMN patients were assessed at baseline and after 6 months of immunosuppressive therapy. In order to evaluate endothelial dysfunction in PMN patients, flow‐mediated vasodilation (FMD) was measured at baseline and after treatment. A total of 22 healthy controls were included in this study to measure MBL levels and FMD. A significant difference was observed between MBL levels in PMN patients and healthy controls (p <.01). MBL levels decreased significantly after immunosuppressive therapy (p =.04). The baseline MBL levels and FMD levels exhibited a strong correlation (Spearman correlation coefficient [ρ] = 0.51: p =.01). Background: Whether antibodies against leucine-rich glioma-inactivated 1 (LGI1-Abs) in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) are partially transferred from serum and the impact of CSF-LGI1-Ab positivity on clinical features and prognosis are unclear. Therefore, we aim to investigate the differences in serum titers, clinical features, and outcomes between LGI1-Ab CSF-positive and LGI1-Ab CSF-negative patients. Methods: Retrospective analysis of serum titers and clinical features according to CSF LGI1-Ab status. In addition, univariate and multivariate logistic regression were performed to identify predictors of worse outcomes. Results: A total of 60 patients with anti-LGI1 encephalitis and positive serum LGI1-Abs were identified, of whom 8 (13.3%) patients were excluded due to the absence of CSF LGI1-Ab testing. Among the remaining 52 patients, 33 (63.5%) were positive for LGI1-Abs in CSF. CSF-positive patients were more likely to have high serum titers (≥ 1:100) than CSF-negative patients (p = 0.003), and Spearman's correlation analysis showed a positive correlation between CSF and serum titers in CSF-positive patients (r2 = 0.405, p = 0.019). Psychiatric symptoms and hyponatremia were more frequent in CSF-positive patients (p < 0.05). Both univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses showed that CSF LGI1-Ab positivity and delayed immunotherapy are independent risk factors for incomplete recovery (modified Rankin Scale (mRS) > 0 at last follow-up). Conclusions: LGI1-Ab CSF-positive patients have higher serum titers, and their CSF titers are positively correlated with serum titers, indicating a possible peripheral origin of CSF LGI1-Abs. Relaxation correction is an integral step in quantifying brain metabolite concentrations measured by in vivo magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS). While most quantification routines assume constant T1 relaxation across age, it is possible that aging alters T1 relaxation rates, as is seen for T2 relaxation. Here, we investigate the age dependence of metabolite T1 relaxation times at 3 T in both gray‐ and white‐matter‐rich voxels using publicly available metabolite and metabolite‐nulled (single inversion recovery TI = 600 ms) spectra acquired at 3 T using Point RESolved Spectroscopy (PRESS) localization. Data were acquired from voxels in the posterior cingulate cortex (PCC) and centrum semiovale (CSO) in 102 healthy volunteers across 5 decades of life (aged 20–69 years). All spectra were analyzed in Osprey v.2.4.0. To estimate T1 relaxation times for total N‐acetyl aspartate at 2.0 ppm (tNAA2.0) and total creatine at 3.0 ppm (tCr3.0), the ratio of modeled metabolite residual amplitudes in the metabolite‐nulled spectrum to the full metabolite signal was calculated using the single‐inversion‐recovery signal equation. Correlations between T1 and subject age were evaluated. Spearman correlations revealed that estimated T1 relaxation times of tNAA2.0 (rs = −0.27; p < 0.006) and tCr3.0 (rs = −0.40; p < 0.001) decreased significantly with age in white‐matter‐rich CSO, and less steeply for tNAA2.0 (rs = −0.228; p = 0.005) and (not significantly for) tCr3.0 (rs = −0.13; p = 0.196) in graymatter‐rich PCC. The analysis harnessed a large publicly available cross‐sectional dataset to test an important hypothesis, that metabolite T1 relaxation times change with age. This preliminary study stresses the importance of further work to measure age‐normed metabolite T1 relaxation times for accurate quantification of metabolite levels in studies of aging. Background: Conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has certain limitations in distinguishing between malignant and benign urinary bladder (UB) lesions. Amide proton transfer (APT) imaging may provide more diagnostic information than diffusion‐weighted imaging (DWI) to distinguish between malignant and benign UB. Purpose: To investigate the potential of APT imaging in the diagnosis of malignant and benign UB lesions and to compare its diagnostic efficacy with that of conventional DWI. Study Type: Prospective. Subjects: Eighty patients with UB lesions. Field Strength/Sequence: A 3.0 T/turbo spin echo (TSE) T1‐weighted and T2‐weighted imaging, single‐shot echo planar DWI, and three‐dimensional TSE APT imaging. Assessment: Patients underwent radical cystectomy or transurethral resection of the bladder lesions within 2 weeks after CT urography and MRI examination. APT signal intensity in UB lesions was quantified by the asymmetric magnetization transfer ratio (MTRasym). MTRasym and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values were measured and compared between malignant and benign UB lesions. Statistical Tests: Kolmogorov–Smirnov test, Student's t test or Mann–Whitney U test, Spearman rank correlation coefficient, area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve (AUC), Delong test, and intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). The significance threshold was set at P < 0.05. Results: Thirty‐two patients had pathologically confirmed benign UB lesions, including 2 bladder leiomyomas, 1 submucosal amyloidosis, 1 inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor, and 28 inflammatory lesions, and 48 patients had pathologically confirmed urothelial carcinoma. Urothelial carcinomas showed significantly higher MTRasym values (1.53% [0.74%] vs. 0.85% [0.23%]) and significantly lower ADC values (1.24 ± 0.34 × 10−3 mm2/s vs. 1.43 ± 0.22 × 10−3 mm2/s) than benign UB lesions. The MTRasym value (AUC = 0.928) was significantly better in differentiating urothelial carcinoma from benign UB lesions than the ADC value (AUC = 0.722). Background: MRI‐derived left atrial (LA) longitudinal strain has been shown to be a marker for mitral regurgitation, but the utility of LA circumferential strain remains unclear. Purpose: To assess feasibility and reproducibility of LA circumferential strain, identify changes in mitral regurgitation patients compared to healthy volunteers, and determine strain's association with mitral regurgitation severity and cardiac function. Study Type: Retrospective. Population: 52 mitral regurgitation patients, 12 healthy volunteers. Field Strength/Sequence: Steady‐state free precession cine and 2D phase contrast sequences at 1.5T. Assessment: Peak LA circumferential strain was computed in each of three short‐axis slices (superior, mid, and inferior) and longitudinal strain computed from long‐axis slices using MRI feature‐tracking software. Strain test–retest reproducibility was determined from two repeat studies in healthy volunteers. Statistical Tests: LA circumferential strain test–retest reproducibility was assessed by intra‐class correlation coefficient (ICC). Strain was compared between cohorts using Student's t‐test or Mann–Whitney U. Mitral regurgitation severity association with strain and LV function was assessed using Spearman correlation and multivariable regression. Significance was defined as P < 0.05. Results: LA circumferential strain assessment was feasible in all subjects with moderate reproducibility in the superior (ICC = 0.74), mid LA (ICC = 0.71), and inferior LA (ICC = 0.63). In mitral regurgitation patients, LA circumferential strain was significantly lower in the superior (11.86% [6.5%,19.2%] vs. 18.73% ± 6.7%) and mid LA slices (18.41% ± 9.5% vs. 28.7% ± 10.4%) compared to healthy volunteers. Mitral regurgitation severity significantly associated with mid LA circumferential strain (β = −0.03) and LAV significantly associated with superior LA circumferential strain (β = −2.09), both independent of LA longitudinal strain and CO. Data Conclusion: LA circumferential strain assessment is feasible with moderate reproducibility. Compared to healthy volunteers, patients had significantly lower LA circumferential strain. This study investigates the impact of maternal health on infant development by developing a mathematical model that delineates the relationship between maternal health indicators and infant behavioral characteristics and sleep quality. The main contributions of this study are as follows: (1) The use of Spearman's correlation coefficient to conduct correlation analysis and explore the main factors that influence infant behavioral characteristics based on maternal indicators. (2) The development of a combined model using machine learning techniques, including random forest (RF) and multilayer perceptron (MLP) to establish the relationship between maternal health (physical and psychological health) and infant behavioral characteristics. The model is trained and validated by the real data respectively. (3) The use of the Fuzzy C-means (FCM) dynamic clustering model to classify infant sleep quality. An RF regression model is constructed to predict infant sleep quality using maternal indicators. This study is significant in gaining a deeper understanding of the relationship between maternal health indicators and infant development, and provides a basis for future intervention measures. Background: The correlation between lipid profiles and sepsis has received increasing attention. The ratio of non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (NHHR) is one of the key lipid profiles. However, in-depth exploration of the correlation between NHHR and the mortality risk of patients with sepsis is limited. Methods: Data from the MIMIC-IV (v2.2) database, we review the NHHR relevance and the sepsis severity index using Spearman's correlation analysis. Additionally, we research NHHR associated with sepsis patients' survival rate of 28 days using Cox regression analyses of continuous and categorical models. To further validate our findings, we conducted subgroup and sensitivity analyses. Results: The study involved 3,142 patients diagnosed with sepsis, according to 28 days after in-hospital survival condition, divided into two groups. In this study, 2932 patients were in the survival group and 210 patients died within 28 days (mortality group). Of note, the mean NHHR of patients in the mortality group exceeded that of the survival group (3.5 vs. 2.9). Additionally, NHHR was positively correlated with the severity index. After adjusting for demographic and laboratory data, an increased NHHR was positively correlated with higher sepsis mortality risk (OR = 1.06; 95% CI: 1.02–1.11; P = 0.013). Subgroup analysis shown the same results. Contributors were be categorized into two groups based on NHHR levels, with a threshold of 2.61. Contrast the mortality risk between low-NHHR group and high-NHHR group, high-NHHR show greater mortality risk on 28-day, 60-day, 90-day, in ICU, and in hospital. Conclusion: Elevated NHHR is to be correlated with an increased risk of mortality in patients with sepsis. Further research on NHHR may contribute to advancements in sepsis prevention and treatment. Self-reported physical activity questionnaires (e.g., International Physical Activity Questionnaire, IPAQ) are a cost-effective, time-saving, and accessible method to assess sedentary behaviour and physical activity. There are conflicting findings regarding the validity of self-reported questionnaires in comparison to accelerometer-measured data in a free-living environment. This study aimed to investigate the concurrent validity between self-reported Arabic–English IPAQ short form (IPAQ-SF) and Fibion (Fibion Inc., Jyväskylä, Finland) accelerometer-measured sedentary and physical activity time among young adults. One hundred and one young healthy adults (mean age 20.8 ± 2.4 years) filled in the IPAQ short form (IPAQ-SF) and wore the Fibion device on the anterior thigh for ≥ 600 min per day for 4–7 days. Concurrent validity between the IPAQ-SF and Fibion accelerometer for sitting, walking, moderate activity, and vigorous activity time was assessed using the Spearman correlation coefficient (ρ ) and Bland–Altman plots. Significant weak associations between IPAQ-SF and Fibion measurements were found for total activity time (ρ = 0.4; P < 0.001) and for the duration of walking (ρ = 0.3; P = 0.01), moderate (ρ = 0.2; P = 0.02), and vigorous-intensity activities (ρ = 0.4; P < 0.001). However, ρ was not significant (ρ = − 0.2; P = 0.09) for sitting time. In addition, all the plots of the measured variables showed a proportional bias. A low association and agreement were found between self-reported IPAQ-SF scores and Fibion accelerometer measurements among young adults in the UAE. Predicting the capacity of lithium-ion battery (LIB) plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe operation of LIBs and prolonging their lifespan. However, LIBs are easily affected by environmental interference, which may impact the precision of predictions. Furthermore, interpretability in the process of predicting LIB capacity is also important for users to understand the model, identify issues, and make decisions. In this study, an interpretable method considering environmental interference (IM-EI) for predicting LIB capacity is introduced. Spearman correlation coefficients, interpretability principles, belief rule base (BRB), and interpretability constraints are used to improve the prediction precision and interpretability of IM-EI. Dynamic attribute reliability is introduced to minimize the effect of environmental interference. The experimental results show that IM-EI model has good interpretability and high precision compared to the other models. Purpose: We examined the one-year test re-test reliability and validity criterion of survey-assessed sleep duration collected from two separate questions. Methods: The Activity Validation Sub Study included 751 participants of the Cancer Prevention Study-3 study to further investigate rest/activity cycles. Sleep duration was collected using three methods: survey, Daysimeter device, and sleep diary. Survey-assessed sleep duration was collected using 2 different questions, each with different response options (categorical and continuous). Selected participants (n = 170) were asked to wear a Daysimeter device for seven consecutive days for two non-consecutive quarters. Participants were excluded from the current study due to incomplete/implausible survey or device data or reported working night shift. We calculated reliability of pre- and post-survey sleep duration for both survey question using Spearman correlation. We used the method of triads to estimate the validity coefficient (VC) between the three sleep duration measurements in the present study and the "true" latent sleep duration measure, and bootstrapping methods to calculate the 95% confidence intervals (95%CI). Results: Of 119 participants included in the study (52.10% male), test-retest correlation showed strong and moderate correlations for sleep duration collected continuously and categorically, respectively. The VC for survey-assessed continuous sleep duration was 0.82 (95%CI 0.71, 0.90) for weekday and 0.68 (95%CI 0.46, 0.83) for weekend. Performance of the VC was slightly weaker for survey-assessed categorical sleep duration (weekday VC = 0.57 95%CI 0.42, 0.71; weekend VC = 0.47 95%CI 0.29, 0.62). Conclusion: The two survey-assessed sleep duration questions used in the AVSS and CPS-3 cohorts are valid approximations of sleep duration. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: The activation of cerebral endothelial cells (CECs) has recently been reported to be the earliest acute neuroinflammation event in the CNS during sepsis-associated encephalopathy (SAE). Importantly, adenosine-toinosine (A-to-I) RNA editing mediated by ADARs has been associated with SAE, yet its role in acute neuroinflammation in SAE remains unclear. Methods: Our current study systematically analyzed A-to-I RNA editing in cerebral vessels, cerebral endothelial cells (CECs), and microglia sampled during acute neuroinflammation after treatment in a lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced SAE mouse model. Results: Our results showed dynamic A-to-I RNA editing activity changes in cerebral vessels during acute neuroinflammation. Differential A-to-I RNA editing (DRE) associated with acute neuroinflammation were identified in these tissue or cells, especially missense editing events such as S367G in antizyme inhibitor 1 (Azin1) and editing events in lincRNAs such as maternally expressed gene 3 (Meg3), AW112010, and macrophage M2 polarization regulator (Mm2pr). Importantly, geranylgeranyl diphosphate synthase 1 (Ggps1) and another three genes were differentially edited across cerebral vessels, CECs, and microglia. Notably, Spearman correlation analysis also revealed dramatic time-dependent DRE during acute neuroinflammation, especially in GTP cyclohydrolase1 (Gch1) and non-coding RNA activated by DNA damage (Norad), both with the editing level positively correlated with both post-LPS treatment time and edited gene expression in cerebral vessels and CECs. Discussion: The findings in our current study demonstrate substantial A-to-I RNA editing changes during acute neuroinflammation in SAE, underlining its potential role in the disease. The research on the randomness and volatility of wind power (WP) and photovoltaic (PV) output of the integrated energy system (IES) has emerged as a pivotal concern, commonly dealt with by clustering techniques. However, traditional clustering techniques often fall short of capturing the comprehensive characteristics of the original scenery data. This paper presents an enhanced clustering logic to improve WP and PV output correlation scenarios. Utilizing the Frank‐Copula function, the complex relationship between WP and PV is accurately described. The Kendall rank correlation coefficient (Kendall′s tau) is used as a metric to study the correlation between these two renewable energy sources. The original scenes' correlation coefficients are then clustered using the K‐means algorithm, which forms the basis for scene reduction. On the basis, a two‐phase robust optimization method is employed to conduct a planning study for a real IES, with the total cost of the system as the optimal objective. Background: Construction of co-occurrence networks in metagenomic data often employs correlation to infer pairwise relationships between microbes. However, biological systems are complex and often display qualities non-linear in nature. Therefore, the reliance on correlation alone may overlook important relationships and fail to capture the full breadth of intricacies presented in underlying interaction networks. It is of interest to incorporate metrics that are not only robust in detecting linear relationships, but non-linear ones as well. Results: In this paper, we explore the use of various mutual information (MI) estimation approaches for quantifying pairwise relationships in biological data and compare their performances against two traditional measures–Pearson's correlation coefficient, r, and Spearman's rank correlation coefficient, ρ. Metrics are tested on both simulated data designed to mimic pairwise relationships that may be found in ecological systems and real data from a previous study on C. diff infection. The results demonstrate that, in the case of asymmetric relationships, mutual information estimators can provide better detection ability than Pearson's or Spearman's correlation coefficients. Specifically, we find that these estimators have elevated performances in the detection of exploitative relationships, demonstrating the potential benefit of including them in future metagenomic studies. Conclusions: Mutual information (MI) can uncover complex pairwise relationships in biological data that may be missed by traditional measures of association. Aim Methods Results Conclusion To understand the status of internalized stigma in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and explore its relationship with self‐esteem, social support, and coping style.This cross‐sectional study selected patients with RA who visited the Rheumatology and Immunology Department of a tertiary hospital from May 2022 to May 2023. The Chinese versions of the Internalized Stigma of Mental Illness Scale‐Rheumatoid Arthritis (ISMI‐RA), Social Support Rating Scale, Rosenberg Self‐Esteem Scale, and Medical Coping Style Questionnaire were administered to assess the internalized stigma, social support, self‐esteem, and coping styles, respectively. The Pearson correlation test or Spearman rank correlation was then used to analyze the correlation between these measures.Overall, 69.5% participants reported high level of internalized stigma. The average age of the 174 participants was 52.67 ± 12.24 years, with 87.36 per cent female patients. The mean ISMI‐RA score was 54.49 ± 9.62, and the ISMI‐RA subscale with the highest average score was alienation. The Pearson's correlations show that internalized stigma was positively associated with the coping styles of avoidance (r = .212, p < .01) and acceptance (r = .560, p < .01), and that internalized stigma was negatively associated with the coping styles of confrontation (r = −.479, p < .01), social support (r = −.570, p < .01), and self‐esteem(r = −.512, p < .05).The high level of internalized stigma in RA patients suggests that we should develop interventions to improve patients' self‐esteem, encourage them to adopt positive coping styles, and gain more social support for them, so as to alleviate their internalized stigma. A cruise was conducted in the summer of 2023 from the Pearl River Estuary (PRE) to the adjacent waters of the Xisha Islands in the northern South China Sea (NSCS) to investigate the distribution, community structure, and assembly patterns of eukaryotic and prokaryotic phytoplankton using high-throughput sequencing (HTS) and microscopic observation. Dinophyta were the most abundant phylum in the eukaryotic phytoplankton community based on HTS, accounting for 92.17% of the total amplicon sequence variants (ASVs). Syndiniales was the most abundant order among eukaryotic phytoplankton, whereas Prochlorococcus was the most abundant genus within cyanobacteria. The alpha diversity showed the lowest values in the PRE area and decreased gradually with depth, while cyanobacteria exhibited higher alpha diversity indices in the PRE and at depths ranging from 75 m to 750 m. The morphological results were different from the data based on HTS. Diatoms (37 species) dominated the phytoplankton community, with an average abundance of 3.01 × 104 cells L-1, but only six species of dinoflagellate were observed. Spearman correlation analysis and redundancy analysis (RDA) showed that the distribution and community structure of phytoplankton were largely influenced by geographical location and environmental parameters in the NSCS. The neutral community model (NCM) and null model indicated that deterministic processes played a significant role in the assembly of eukaryotic phytoplankton, with heterogeneous selection and homogeneous selection accounting for 47.27 and 29.95%, respectively. However, stochastic processes (over 60%) dominated the assembly of cyanobacteria and undominated processes accounted for 63.44%. In summary, the formation of eukaryotic phytoplankton was mainly influenced by environmental factors and geographic location, but the assembly of cyanobacteria was shaped by both stochastic processes, which accounted for over 60%, and environmental selection in the NSCS. Purpose: This study investigated potential use of computed tomography (CT)-based parameters in the lumbar spine as a surrogate for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based findings. Methods: In this retrospective study, all individuals, who had a lumbar spine CT scan and MRI between 2006 and 2012 were reviewed (n = 198). Disc height (DH) and endplate degeneration (ED) were evaluated between Th12/L1-L5/S1. Statistics consisted of Spearman correlation and univariate/multivariable regression (adjusting for age and gender). Results: The mean CT-DH increased kranio-caudally (8.04 millimeters (mm) at T12/L1, 9.17 mm at L1/2, 10.59 mm at L2/3, 11.34 mm at L3/4, 11.42 mm at L4/5 and 10.47 mm at L5/S1). MRI-ED was observed in 58 (29%) individuals. CT-DH and MRI-DH had strong to very strong correlations (rho 0.781-0.904, p <.001). MRI-DH showed higher absolute values than CT-DH (mean of 1.76 mm). There was a significant association between CT-DH and MRI-ED at L2/3 (p =.006), L3/4 (p =.002), L4/5 (p <.001) and L5/S1 (p <.001). A calculated cut-off point was set at 11 mm. Conclusions: In the lumbar spine, there is a correlation between disc height on CT and MRI. This can be useful in trauma and emergency cases, where CT is readily available in the lack of an MRI. In addition, in the middle and lower part of the lumbar spine, loss of disc height on CT scans is associated with more pronounced endplate degeneration on MRIs. Mangrove ecosystems are vital to arid environments like Saudi Arabia, offering crucial ecological services and enhancing biodiversity. This study investigates the spatial distribution and temporal dynamics of mangrove coverage in the Al Wajh lagoon area, crucial for crafting effective conservation and management strategies. Employing high-resolution Landsat and Sentinel imagery, the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and Land Surface Temperature (LST) were analysed across 35 mangrove clusters. By 2023, mangroves covered approximately 24.5 km2. Kendall Tau-b Correlation Coefficients confirmed a significant positive trend. The study further explored the relationship between NDVI and surface temperature, revealing an inverse correlation with slope values ranging from -4.03 to -44.1, suggesting that increased mangrove coverage significantly contributes to local cooling, thereby underscoring the climate regulation benefits of mangrove conservation. This positive change in NDVI post-2020 is directly attributable to the conservation efforts embedded within the Red Sea Project, Vision 2030, development phases, demonstrating the critical role of designated conservation zones in mitigating the environmental impacts of large-scale development projects. Objective: To investigate the relationship between degeneration of cervical intervertebral disc and degeneration of paravertebral muscles[multifidus (MF), cervical semispinalis (SCer), semispinalis capitis (SCap) and splenius capitis (SPL)]. Methods: 82 patients with chronic neck pain were randomly selected, including 43 males and 39 females, with 50.73 0.7.51 years old. All patients were scanned by 3.0T MRI Philips Ingenia performed conventional MRI sequence scanning and fat measurement sequence mDIXON-Quant scanning of cervical. Fat infiltration (FI) and cross-sectional area (CSA) of cervical paravertebral muscle (MF, SCer, SCap and SPL) at central level of C5-6 disc were measured by Philips 3.0T MRI image post-processing workstation. According to Pfirrmann grading system, there was no grade I in the included cases. The number of grade IIr IV cases were n=16, 40, 19 and 7 respectively. CSA and FI of cervical paravertebral muscles were compared with t test or one-way ANOVA, Spearman correlation analysis was used to evaluate the correlation between age, disc degeneration, and CSA, FI of cervical paravertebral muscles, and multiple linear regression analysis was used to analyze the independent influencing factors of CSA and FI. Results: CSA of cervical paravertebral muscles in male patients was significantly higher than that in female patients (all P<0.001), but there was no significant difference in FI (all P>0.05). Age was weakly correlated with CSA of MF+SCer, moderately correlated with CSA of SCap and SPL (r=-0.256, -0.355 and -0.361, P<0.05), weakly correlated with FI of SCap and SPL (r= 0.182 and 0.264, P<0.001), moderately correlated with FI of MF+SCer (r=0.408, P<0.001). There were significant differences in FI with disc degeneration (P<0.001, P=0.028 and P=0.005). Further correlation analysis showed that disc degeneration was strongly correlated with FI of MF+SCer (r=0.629, P<0.001), and moderately correlated with FI of SCap and SPL (r=0.363, P=0.001; r=0.345, P=0.002). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that sex and age were the influencing factors of CSA of SCap and SPL, sex was the independent influencing factor of CSA of MF+SCer, and disc degeneration was the independent influencing factor of FI. Conclusions: Age is negatively correlated with CSA and positively correlated with FI. Disc degeneration was correlated with FI of paravertebral muscles, especially with FI of MF and SCer. Purpose: We aimed to investigate whether prediction of liver fibrosis using two-dimensional shear wave elastography (2D-SWE) and vascular tree grading using superb microvascular imaging (SMI) are useful for postoperative follow-up in patients with biliary atresia (BA). Methods: We retrospectively collected data from medical records of 134 patients who underwent ultrasound examination with 2D-SWE or SMI, including 13 postoperative patients with BA and 121 non-BA patients. We investigated the distribution of liver stiffness values with SWE and vascular tree grading with SMI and evaluated correlations between these findings and biochemical indices of liver fibrosis in postoperative BA patients. Results: The SWE values of the BA group were not significantly different from that of any other disease groups in non-BA patients. In postoperative BA patients, SWE values correlated significantly with aspartate aminotransferase to platelet ratio index (Spearman rank correlation coefficient [rs] = 0.6380, p = 0.0256) and with the Fib-4 index (rs = 0.6526, p = 0.0214). SMI vascular tree grading of the BA group was significantly higher than that of the choledochal cyst group (p = 0.0008) and other hepatobiliary disorder group (p = 0.0030). In postoperative BA patients, SMI vascular tree grading was not positively correlated with any biochemical marker of fibrosis. Purpose Methods Results Conclusions Level of Evidence This study aimed to identify the risk factors for anterior knee pain (AKP) after medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction (MPFLR).Patients aged 15–35 years who underwent isolated MPFLR between 2012 and 2022 were included in the study. These patients were divided into two groups (AKP and control group). Patient demographics and preoperative and postoperative clinical outcomes between the two groups were assessed and compared. Univariate logistic regression analysis was performed to explore the potential risk factors associated with postoperative AKP. Subgroup analysis stratified the results based on the time to return to sports (RTS) (>9 and ≤9 months). Furthermore, Spearman correlation analysis was performed to investigate the association between Kujala score and time to RTS.A total of 206 patients were included (AKP, n = 59; control, n = 147). At the 2‐year follow‐up, patients with AKP demonstrated a shorter duration in returning to their pre‐injury activity level compared to those without AKP (9.0 ± 3.6 vs. 10.3 ± 2.7 months, p < 0.05). RTS earlier than 9 months after MPFLR was the only significant risk factor associated with postoperative AKP (odds ratio, 2.13, 95% confidence interval, 1.03‐4.39; p < 0.05). Further subgroup analysis revealed that patient RTS earlier than 9 months exhibited worse patient‐reported outcomes in both the total cohort and control group (p < 0.05). Furthermore, among patient RTS within 9 months, a longer recovery duration before RTS strongly correlated with a higher Kujala score (R = 0.670, p < 0.001).Young patients who RTS at their pre‐injury levels before 9 months after MPFLR have a higher incidence of postoperative AKP and poorer functional outcomes compared to those who delay their return. Specifically, within the first 9 months after MPFLR, the earlier the RTS, the more severe the AKP symptoms. This research compares the characteristic of PM change among different coronal sub‐types of DLS and explores its potential clinical significance.A total of 84 DLS patients between June 2019 to December 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. Patients were classified into three types based on the coronal balance distance (CBD): Type A, CBD <3 cm; Type B: C7 Plumb Line (C7PL) shifted to the concave side of the curve, and CBD >3 cm; Type C: C7PL shifted to the convex side of the curve, and CBD >3 cm. Fat infiltration rates in the multifidus (MS) and erector spinae (ES) at the apex of the main and fractional curves, and spinopelvic parameters were analyzed statistically. Pearson's or Spearman's correlation was applied to analyze the correlation between asymmetric degree of PM change and these parameters in three types.There were 62 cases with coronal sub‐Type A, 6 cases with Type B, and 16 cases with Type C. Patients in Type B and C demonstrated higher fat infiltration in MS on the concave side of both the main and fractional curves when compared to those in Type A. The asymmetric degree of ES change was positively correlated with CBD at the apex of the main curve in Type B and at the apex of the fractional curve in Type C respectively, and that of MS was positively correlated with apical vertebral rotation, while negatively strong‐correlated with pelvic incidence and sacral slope in Type C.PM fatty infiltration presented difference among varied coronal sub‐types of DLS patients. Background: The objective of this study was to evaluate the correlation in measurements of the lower-limb coronal alignment between long-leg radiographs (LLRs) and computed tomography (CT) scanograms that were made during preoperative planning for robotic-arm-assisted knee arthroplasty. On the basis of published evidence demonstrating a good correlation between these imaging modalities in measuring the lower-limb mechanical axis, we hypothesized that there would be no significant differences between the 2 in the present study. Methods: This multicenter cohort study across 3 tertiary centers included 300 patients undergoing primary robotic-armassisted total knee arthroplasty (TKA) or unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) for whom LLRs and CT scanograms were available preoperatively. The study involved measuring the medial proximal tibial angle (MPTA), lateral distal femoral angle (LDFA), hip-knee-ankle angle (HKA), joint line obliquity (JLO), joint-line convergence angle (JLCA), and arithmetic HKA (aHKA). The aHKA represents a method for estimating constitutional alignment using angles that are unaffected by joint-space narrowing. Results: Strong correlations (p < 0.001) between the imaging modalities were found for the HKA (correlation coefficient, 0.912), aHKA (0.883), MPTA (0.820), LDFA (0.871), and JLO (0.778). A weaker correlation was observed for the JLCA in valgus knees as compared with varus knees (Spearman coefficients, 0.412 and 0.518, respectively). Regression models demonstrated that the degree of agreement was associated with the preoperative intra-articular deformity and the positioning of the lower limb during the CT scan (i.e., the lower-limb rotational angle). An initial JLCA within ±5° was associated with higher agreement. Conclusions: We observed a strong correlation between LLRs and CT scanograms that were made during the preoperative planning stage of robotic-arm-assisted knee arthroplasty, implying that CT scanograms can reliably be utilized to estimate the coronal alignment of the knee, potentially replacing the need for LLRs. Objective: The study aims to explore the relationship between modifiable lifestyle factors (physical activity, sedentary time, body composition, muscle strength) and mental health, and predict future changes in mental health. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted on 133 men (age: 29.03 ± 6.605 years, BMI: 23.58 ± 2.688 kg/m²) to assess baseline body composition, muscle strength, sedentary time, and mental health, with follow-up at 3 months. F-tests were employed to compare the differences in mental health on sedentary time and body composition variables. Spearman correlation analysis was used to examine correlations between variables. Results: Spearman's correlation analysis showed that sedentary time, muscle strength and mental health of the subjects were significantly correlated. BMI, BFM, BFMI, PBF were higher in subjects with ≥ 4 h of sedentary time than in the other two shorter sedentary time groups. Subjects with higher PBF (p = 0.047, η2 = 0.030) and BFM (p = 0.032, η2 = 0.035) had severer depression. Subjects who sat for ≥ 4 h at a time were more severely depressed than those who sat for 2–4 h (p = 0.020). Change in depression was significantly negatively correlated with BMI, BFM, BFMI and PBF. Subjects with higher PBF (p = 0.023, η2 = 0.050) and BFM (p = 0.005, η2 = 0.075) at the baseline had less change in depression. Regular groundwater quality monitoring in resource-constrained regions present formidable challenges in terms of funding, testing facilities and manpower; necessitating the development of easily implementable monitoring techniques. This study proposes a copula-based risk assessment model utilizing easily measurable indicators (e.g., turbidity, alkalinity, pH, total dissolved solids (TDS), conductivity), to monitor the contaminates in groundwater which are otherwise difficult to measure (i.e., iron, nitrate, sulfate, fluoride, etc.). Preliminary correlation between the indicators and the target contaminates were identified using Pearson coefficient. Best representative univariate distributions for these pairs were selected using the Akaike Information Criterion (AIC), which were used in the formulation of the copula model. Validation against observed data showcased the model's high accuracy, supported by consistent Kendall Tau correlation coefficients. Through this model, conditional probabilities of the contaminants not exceeding the permissible limits set by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) were calculated using indicator concentration. Notably, an inverse correlation between iron concentration and conductivity was noted, with the likelihood of iron exceeding BIS limits decreasing from 90 to 50% as conductivity rose from 500 to 2000 micromhos/cm. TDS emerged as a pivotal indicator for nitrate and sulfate concentrations, with the probability of sulfate surpassing 10 mg/l decreasing from 75 to 25% as TDS increased from 250 to 750 mg/l. Likewise, the probability of nitrate exceeding 1 mg/l decreased from 90 to 60% with TDS levels reaching 1500 mg/l. Furthermore, a 63% probability of fluoride concentrations remaining below 1 mg/l was observed at turbidity levels of 0–10 NTU. Background: Considering that changes in the choroidal thickness are closely related to ocular growth, we studied the choroidal thickness (CT) and the blood flow features in children with unilateral myopic anisometropia (UMA) as well as investigating the relationship between choroidal changes and myopia. Methods: Subjective refractive, axial length (AL), and biometric parameters were measured in 98 UMA children (age: 8–15 years). CT and choroidal blood-flow features, including the choroidal vessel volume (CVV), choroidal vascularity index (CVI), and choriocapillaris perfusion area (CCPA), were measured through swept-source optical coherence tomography angiography. The macular region was categorized into four concentric circles of diameters 0–1 mm (central fovea), 1–3 mm (parafovea), 3–6 mm (perifovea), and 6–9 mm (extended), and further categorized into superior (S), inferior (I), temporal (T), and nasal (N) quadrants. Results: The aforementioned four regions of myopic eyes displayed significantly lower CT, CVV, and CVI than those of non-myopic eyes. CCPA changes differed across different regions of both the eyes (parts of N and T quadrants). There was an inverse association between CT and the interocular AL difference (central and other regions S, T quadrant). No correlation was noted between CVV and CVI with interocular AL difference. CT and CVV were positively correlated in the 0–6-mm macular region of myopic eyes (Spearman correlation coefficient = 0.763, P < 0.001). Conclusions: In UMA children, CCT and blood flow may be related to myopia progression. Background: Premature coronary artery disease (PCAD) is prevailing. We aimed to investigate the evaluation value of atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) for the occurrence and severity of coronary artery lesion in PCAD patients. Methods: PCAD (PACD group)/non-PCAD (control group) patients were enrolled. The coronary artery lesion degree was evaluated using Gensini score (GS). PCAD patients were allocated into the low/medium/high GS groups, with general clinical baseline data analyzed. Plasma hs-CRP/AIP levels were compared in PCAD patients with different disease degree. Correlations between plasma hs-CRP/AIP with Gensini score, independent risk factors affecting the occurrence of PCAD, and the predictive value of hs-CRP/AIP/their combination for the occurrence and degree of PCAD were evaluated by Spearman correlation analysis/Logistic multivariate regression/receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. The differences in the area under the curve (AUC) were compared using MedCalc-Comparison of ROC curves. Results: Plasma hs-CRP/AIP levels in the PCAD group were increased. Plasma hs-CRP/AIP levels varied significantly among PCAD patients with different disease degree. Plasma hs-CRP/AIP levels were markedly positively correlated with the Gensini score. Smoking history/homocysteine/fasting blood-glucose/hs-CRP/AIP were all independent risk factors affecting PCAD occurrence. The AUC of hs-CRP and AIP combination predicting the occurrence of PCAD was 0.950 (90.80% sensitivity/93.33% specificity). hs-CRP/AIP combination assisted in predicting the disease degree in PCAD patients. Conclusions: AIP and hs-CRP are independent risk factors for the occurrence of PCAD, and their combination has high predictive value for PCAD occurrence and disease degree, which are both positively correlated with coronary artery lesion degree. Beyond mere prognostication, optimal biomarkers of aging provide insights into qualitative and quantitative features of biological aging and might, therefore, offer useful information for the testing and, ultimately, clinical use of gerotherapeutics. We aimed to develop a proteomic aging clock (PAC) for all‐cause mortality risk as a proxy of biological age. Data were from the UK Biobank Pharma Proteomics Project, including 53,021 participants aged between 39 and 70 years and 2923 plasma proteins assessed using the Olink Explore 3072 assay®. 10.9% of the participants died during a mean follow‐up of 13.3 years, with the mean age at death of 70.1 years. The Spearman correlation between PAC proteomic age and chronological age was 0.77. PAC showed robust age‐adjusted associations and predictions for all‐cause mortality and the onset of various diseases in general and disease‐free participants. The proteins associated with PAC proteomic age deviation were enriched in several processes related to the hallmarks of biological aging. Our results expand previous findings by showing that biological age acceleration, based on PAC, strongly predicts all‐cause mortality and several incident disease outcomes. Particularly, it facilitates the evaluation of risk for multiple conditions in a disease‐free population, thereby, contributing to the prevention of initial diseases, which vary among individuals and may subsequently lead to additional comorbidities. OBJECTIVE: To assess attempts to proficiency of experienced veterinary surgeons for 2 surgical tasks when using a robotic simulator (Mimic dV-Trainer; Surgical Sciences) and determine factors associated with the successful performance of these tasks. METHODS: Veterinary surgeons with rigid, minimally invasive surgery experience performed 2 tasks ("pick and place" and "knot the ring 1") using the simulator until they attained proficiency. Individual performance variables were recorded. The number of attempts to proficiency was recorded. Performance variables were also assessed for effect on proficiency by the Kendall tau correlation and hierarchical multiple linear regression. The study period was from July 25, 2022, through December 14, 2022. RESULTS:Tled required a median of 8.5 attempts (95% CI, 7 to 12; range, 6 to 22) to reach proficiency for the basic task versus 27 attempts (95% CI, 21 to 38; range, 10 to 63) for the advanced task. Surgeons took a median of 6 minutes (range, 3 to 11 minutes) to complete training for the basic task and 12 minutes (range, 4 to 46 minutes) for the advanced task. In order to weaken the torque ripple caused by cogs torque and increase the output torque of permanent magnet synchronous motor, this paper proposes a multi-objective optimization method of permanent magnet synchronous motor based on Improved Multi-Objective Salp Swarm Optimization Algorithm (IMOSSA) and Spearman correlation analysis. Firstly, the improved strategy of Multi-Objective Salp Swarm Algorithm (MOSSA) was proposed, and the effectiveness of the improved algorithm was further verified by the performance test of the algorithm. Then, the motor simulation model was established, and the high correlation parameters were filtered out by Spearman correlation analysis. The response surface model was established by Response Surface Method (RSM), and the regression equation was given. The IMOSSA was used for iterative optimization. Through optimization, the experimental results show that under the premise of meeting the efficiency design requirements, the average output torque of the motor is increased by 21.35%, the torque ripple and cogging torque are reduced by 45.04% and 39.17% respectively, which verifies the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method. Linear-dependent variables are typically modeled through the Spearman correlation, a classical statistical technique. In reality, the dependence between the data cannot always be linear. The copula approach has often been a popular tool for modeling dependent data in these cases. Archimedean copulas, which can model mostly symmetrical data, are also among the copula families used for this purpose. Recently, asymmetric copula models have been developed to model unsymmetrical-dependent variables. The dependency measure is calculated using directional dependency coefficients instead of the Spearman correlation when the data is asymmetrical. Appropriate asymmetric model selection is made with the help of these measurements. In the study, first, dependency parameters corresponding to different Spearman coefficients were obtained for Archimedean copula families, and asymmetric copulas were derived from them. Then, simulation data were obtained for these parameter values to determine the effect of asymmetry on data modeling, and directional dependency measures were found. In addition, the study methodology was applied to automobile bodily injury claims data, which is a real dataset with an asymmetric structure. Here, we used two different asymmetric models: the Khoudraji copula KC models, which are created by multiplying independent and Archimedean copulas, and the LCC models, which are linear-convex combinations of Archimedean copulas. Introduction: Children mortality was mostly dominated by deaths in the early life, some were attributed to congenital abnormalities. Access to pediatric surgical services, represented in the form of pediatric surgeon workforce density (PSWD), were expected to contribute to the reduction of the under-five mortality rate (U5MR). However, there still no established study that determine the ideal number of pediatric surgeons worldwide, especially in Indonesia. This study aims to calculate the optimal ratio of pediatric surgeon in Indonesia based on U5MR and PSWD. Method: This study was a quantitative study using cross-sectional design by processing secondary data from the Seventh Indonesian Demographic Health Survey (IDHS 7th). The research sample consists of 36,665 child mortality records that were collected using two-stage stratified cluster sampling technique. Variables used in this study were PSWD and U5MR, obtained from Indonesian Pediatric Surgery Association (PERBANI) and 7th IDHS, respectively. The data were analyzed using spearman and regression test. Result: The average U5MR and PSWD across 34 provinces in Indonesia were 32/8.89, 30/23.5, 31/7.98, 45/7.19, 47/3.25, and 80/6.36 for Sumatra, Java-Bali, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku-Nusa Tenggara, and Papua region respectively. PSWD strongly correlated with U5MR with Spearman coefficient -0.582 (p=0.000) and identified the value of PSWD by 51 as the threshold to reduce the U5MR optimally. Conclusion: The optimal ratio of pediatric surgeon in Indonesia based on children mortality rate was 1: 1,960. Introduction: Iron status (ferritin and transferrin saturation [TSAT]) routinely performed to detect iron deficiency. However, these parameters required complicated procedures, expensive costs and took a long time. The hematological parameters including Mean Corpuscular Volume (MCV), Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin (MCH), Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin Concentration (MCHC), and red cell distribution width (RDW), hypochromic erythrocyte percentage (%Hypo), microcytic erythrocyte percentage (%Micro), and reticulocyte cellular hemoglobin content (CHr) which integrated in a single analyzer were considered as potential iron status parameters. This study aimed to examined the correlation of hematological parameters (MCV, MCH, MCHC, CHr, %Hypo, and %Micro) with iron status. Methods: Participants were medical students of Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, and were selected consecutively. The MCV, MCH, MCHC, RDW, %Hypo, %Micro, and CHr examinations measured with Advia 2120 automatic hematology analyzer, while the iron status results used a Cobas® chemistry analyzer. Correlation analysis was calculated by Spearman correlation tests. Results: There were 80 participants consisting of 10 men (12.5%) and 70 women (87.5%) with an age range of 18-24 years. The correlation of hematological parameters with the examined iron status was statistically significant (p<0.001). Correlation coefficients of ferritin with MCV, MCH, MCHC, CHr, %Hypo, and %Micro were 0.275, 0.337, 0, 381, -0.573, 0.407, -0.628, and -0.362, while TSAT correlation coefficients were 0.327, 0.403, 0.506, -0.553, 0.426, -0.586, and -0.375, respectively. The genetic improvement of this breed is under the control of the National Association of Maremmano Breeders (ANAM), the first Italian association to use a continuous evaluation scale to evaluate the horses enrolled in the Studbook in the early 1990s. Morphological scoring is a common evaluation method for domestic animals. People employed in this type of role must be able to translate their judgements regarding certain features of the animal's body into numbers or letters, thus avoiding the need to measure the animal. Only a few aspects of the horse's body conformation are actually measured since this activity is difficult and expensive. This study proposes an easier approach to horse scoring in order to obtain genetic proof of morphological traits and, consequently, to support breeders in making targeted selection decisions. Three new factors were computed and summed through an unique New Estimated Breeding Value (NEBV1), with the purpose of supporting breeders in adopting an easier and more accurate selection approach. Morphological scoring is a common evaluation method for domestic animals. The National Association of Maremmano Breeders (ANAM) has provided a dataset containing the records of 600 horses, four metric measurements (cm) and 24 traits with a continuous evaluation scale, each one with 15 classes. Moreover, a body condition score (BCS) with five classes is included. In this study, factor analysis was conducted to create a small number of informative factors (3) obtained from these traits, and a new BLUP-AM-MT index was established. The New Estimated Breeding Value (NEBV1) of each horse was computed by adding the genetic indexes of the three factors, with each one multiplied using a coefficient indicated by ANAM. The practical feasibility of the NEBV1 was evaluated through Spearman correlations between the rankings of the NEBV1 and the rankings of the BLUP-AM-MT, estimated through the four biometric measures and the morphological score (MS) assigned to each horse by the ANAM judges. The factorial analysis was used to estimate three factors: the "Trunk Dimension", "Legs" and "Length". As the explained variance was only 32%, the model was rotated, and the heritability of the three factors were 0.51, 0.05 and 0.41, respectively. After rotation, the estimated correlations between the new NEBV1 and the biometric measures were improved. These results should encourage breeders to adopt a breeding value index that takes into consideration the factors derived from all the variables observed in the morphological evaluation of the Maremmano. Simple Summary: Supplementing trace minerals is common for managing bovine respiratory disease in developing beef cattle; however, its effects on their immune and metabolic systems are not fully understood. In this study, we evaluated three different mineral supplement programs and assessed their impact on the concentrations of copper, manganese, cobalt, and zinc, along with the whole blood gene expression, in high-risk beef cattle that remained clinically healthy over a 60-day period. Our results demonstrated that one supplement program, which included amino acid (organically) complexed minerals, led to an increase in gene activity related to adaptive immune system function and the metabolism of carbohydrates and fat-soluble vitamins compared to cattle-fed sulfate (inorganically) sourced complexed minerals. Additionally, the cattle given organically sourced minerals resulted in higher liver concentrations of copper at the end of the study compared to cattle given inorganically sourced minerals. This suggests that tailored mineral supplement programs may improve cattle immunity and mineral absorption. Understanding these effects improves how we manage cattle for diseases such as respiratory disease. We aimed to assess the impact of three supplementation programs on liver and serum trace element concentrations and blood gene expression. Fifty-six high-risk beef steers were randomly assigned to one of three groups over 60 days: (1) sulfate-sourced Cu, Co, Mn, and Zn (INR), (2) amino acid-complexed Cu, Mn, Co, and Zn (AAC), or (3) AAC plus trace mineral and vitamin drench (COMBO). Serum and liver biopsies for Cu, Co, Mn, and Zn at d0, d28, and d60 were analyzed from cattle free of BRD (n = 9 INR; n = 6 AAC; n = 10 COMBO). Differences and correlations of mineral concentrations were analyzed via generalized linear mixed models and Spearman's rank coefficients, respectively (p < 0.05). Whole blood RNA samples from healthy cattle (n = 4 INR; n = 4 AAC; n = 4 COMBO) at d0, d13, d28, d45, and d60 were sequenced and analyzed for differentially expressed genes (DEGs) via glmmSeq (FDR < 0.05), edgeR (FDR < 0.10), and Trendy (p < 0.10). Serum and liver Cu and Co concentrations increased over time in all groups, with higher liver Cu in COMBO (487.985 μg/g) versus AAC (392.043 μg/g) at d60 (p = 0.013). Serum and liver Cu concentrations (ρ = 0.579, p = 6.59 × 10−8) and serum and liver Co concentrations (ρ = 0.466, p = 2.80 × 10−5) were linearly correlated. Minimal gene expression differences were found between AAC versus COMBO (n = 2 DEGs) and INR versus COMBO (n = 0 DEGs) over time. AAC versus INR revealed 107 DEGs (d13–d60) with increased traits in AAC including metabolism of carbohydrates/fat-soluble vitamins, antigen presentation, ATPase activity, and B- and T-cell activation, while osteoclast differentiation and neutrophil degranulation decreased in AAC compared to INR. Our study identifies gene expression differences in high-risk cattle fed inorganic or amino acid-complexed mineral supplements, revealing adaptive immune and metabolic mechanisms that may be improved by organically sourced supplementation. The respiratory microbiome may influence the development and progression of COPD by modulating local immune and inflammatory events. We aimed to investigate whether relative changes in respiratory bacterial abundance are also associated with systemic inflammation, and explore their relationship with the main clinical COPD phenotypes. Multiplex analysis of inflammatory markers and transcript eosinophil-related markers were analyzed on peripheral blood in a cohort of stable COPD patients (n = 72). Respiratory microbiome composition was analyzed by 16S rRNA microbial sequencing on spontaneous sputum. Spearman correlations were applied to test the relationship between the microbiome composition and systemic inflammation. The concentration of the plasma IL-8 showed an inverted correlation with the relative abundance of 17 bacterial genera in the whole COPD cohort. COPD patients categorized as eosinophilic showed positive relationships with blood eosinophil markers and inversely correlated with the degree of airway obstruction and the number of exacerbations during the previous year. COPD patients categorized as frequent exacerbators were enriched with the bacterial genera Pseudomonas which, in turn, was positively associated with the severity of airflow limitation and the prior year's exacerbation history. The associative relationships of the sputum microbiome with the severity of the disease emphasize the relevance of the interaction between the respiratory microbiota and systemic inflammation. Background: Accurately redirecting reconstructed Positron emission tomography (PET) images into short-axis (SA) images shows great significance for subsequent clinical diagnosis. We developed a system for automatic redirection and quantitative analysis of myocardial PET images. Methods: A total of 128 patients were enrolled for 18 F-FDG PET/CT myocardial metabolic images (MMIs), including 3 image classifications: without defects, with defects, and excess uptake. The automatic reorientation system includes five modules: regional division, myocardial segmentation, ellipsoid fitting, image rotation and quantitative analysis. First, the left ventricular geometry-based canny edge detection (LVG-CED) was developed and compared with the other 5 common region segmentation algorithms, the optimized partitioning was determined based on partition success rate. Then, 9 myocardial segmentation methods and 4 ellipsoid fitting methods were combined to derive 36 cross combinations for diagnostic performance in terms of Pearson correlation coefficient (PCC), Kendall correlation coefficient (KCC), Spearman correlation coefficient (SCC), and determination coefficient. Finally, the deflection angles were computed by ellipsoid fitting and the SA images were derived by affine transformation. Furthermore, the polar maps were used for quantitative analysis of SA images, and the redirection effects of 3 different image classifications were analyzed using correlation coefficients. Results: On the dataset, LVG-CED outperformed other methods in the regional division module with a 100% success rate. In 36 cross combinations, PSO-FCM and LLS-SVD performed the best in terms of correlation coefficient. The linear results indicate that our algorithm (LVG-CED, PSO-FCM, and LLS-SVD) has good consistency with the reference manual method. In quantitative analysis, the similarities between our method and the reference manual method were higher than 96% at 17 segments. Moreover, our method demonstrated excellent performance in all 3 image classifications. Conclusion: Our algorithm system could realize accurate automatic reorientation and quantitative analysis of PET MMIs, which is also effective for images suffering from interference. This article explores the effects of uncontrolled symptoms on the quality of life of patients with allergic rhinitis (AR). The study used a questionnaire to assess the impact of individual symptoms on quality of life. The results showed that poorly controlled eye, nose, and asthma symptoms were consistently associated with lower quality of life measures. Objective: Uniportal full‐endoscopic foraminotomy offers a promising alternative to conventional surgical methods for individuals afflicted by lumbar foraminal stenosis. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and clinical outcomes of uniportal full‐endoscopic foraminotomy in patients diagnosed with lumbar foraminal stenosis. Methods: A comprehensive retrospective analysis was conducted on individuals who underwent full‐endoscopic foraminotomy in our medical center, between January 2018 and December 2019. The investigation encompassed the demographic data of patients and key clinical metrics such as the visual analogue scale of leg (VAS‐L) and back pain (VAS‐B), Oswestry disability index (ODI) scores, the Short Form‐36 Health Survey physical component summary (SF‐36 PCS) and the mental component summary (SF‐36 MCS), as well as modified MacNab grades, were systematically assessed and compared. Furthermore, radiological parameters: Coronal Cobb angle (CCA), Intervertebral angle changes (IAC), Disc height index (DHI), the foraminal cross‐sectional area (FCSA) and the FCSA enlargement ratio were also compared. A variety of statistical analyses including Student t‐test, chi‐square tests, Fisher's exact tests, Pearson's and Spearman's correlation analyses, and Interclass Correlation Coefficients (ICCs) were employed. Results: 64 patients, including 34 males and 30 females were enrolled. The mean follow‐up period extended to 22.66 ± 7.05 months. Distribution by affected segments revealed 26.6% at L4‐5, 67.1% at L5‐S1 level, and 6.25% at both L4‐L5 and L5‐S1 levels. At the final follow‐up, VAS‐L decreased from 7.26 ± 1.19 to 1.37 ± 1.25, while VAS‐B decreased from 6.95 ± 0.54 to 1.62 ± 1.13 (p < 0.001). ODI score also demonstrated a substantial decrease from 74.73 ± 8.68 to 23.27 ± 8.71 (p < 0.001). Both SF‐36 PCS and SF‐36 MCS scores improved significantly (p < 0.001). Modified MacNab criteria revealed 58 excellent‐good patients (90.7%), and 6 fair‐poor patients (9.3%). No significant differences were founded in the CCA (p = 0.1065), IAC (p = 0.5544), and DHI (p = 0.1348) between pre‐operation and the final follow‐up. However, the FCSA significantly increased from 73.41 ± 11.75 to 173.40 ± 18.62 mm2 (p < 0.001), and the enlargement ratio was 142.9% ± 49.58%. Notably, the final follow‐up FCSA and the FCSA enlargement ratio were found to be larger in the excellent and good group compared to the fair and poor group, according to the modified MacNab criteria. Conclusion: The utilization of uniportal full‐endoscopic foraminotomy has demonstrated its safety and efficacy in addressing lumbar foraminal stenosis. The clinical success of this procedure appears to be closely associated with the radiological decompression of the intervertebral foramen area. Background: Little is known about the progression of health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and predicting factors in spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA). Such knowledge is crucial to identify modifiable factors promoting everyday life with SCA and attenuating HRQoL decline. Objectives: This study is to assess HRQoL progression and identify factors affecting SCA patients' HRQoL. Methods: Longitudinal data (three-year follow-up) of 310 SCA patients of the European SCA3/Machado-Joseph-Disease Initiative (ESMI) (2016-2022) and 525 SCA patients (SCA1, SCA2, SCA3 or SCA6) of the EUROSCA natural history study cohort (2006–2015) were assessed. Both large cohort studies share standardized assessments of clinical measures, SARA, INAS, PHQ-9, and HRQoL (EQ-5D-3L). The association between HRQoL and clinical measures was assessed by Spearman Correlation (rs). Multivariable panel regression models were performed to evaluate the impact of patients' socio-demographics, age of onset, SCA type and body mass index (BMI), and clinical measures on HRQoL progression. Results: HRQoL significantly decreased over one (− 0.014, p = 0.095), two (− 0.028, p = 0.003), and three years (− 0.032, p = 0.002). Ataxia severity and mental health strongly correlated with HRQoL (rsSARA = − 0.589; rsPHQ-9 = − 0.507). HRQoL more intensively declined in male (ß = − 0.024, p = 0.038) patients with an earlier age of onset (ß = 0.002, p = 0.058). Higher progression of ataxia severity (ß = − 0.010, p ≤ 0.001), mental health problems (ß = − 0.012, p < 0.001), and higher BMI (ß = − 0.003, p = 0.029) caused more severe decline of patients' HRQoL over time. Discussion: In absence of curative treatments, stronger focus on mental health and weight influence could help clinical evaluation and accompany treatment improving SCA patients' HRQoL, especially in male patients with early disease onset. Objectives: Wall remodeling and inflammation accompany symptomatic unruptured intracranial aneurysms (UIAs). The volume transfer constant (Ktrans) of dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) reflects UIA wall permeability. Aneurysmal wall enhancement (AWE) on vessel wall MRI (VWI) is associated with inflammation. We hypothesized that Ktrans is related to symptomatic UIAs and AWE. Methods: Consecutive patients with UIAs were prospectively recruited for 3-T DCE-MRI and VWI from January 2018 to March 2023. UIAs were classified as asymptomatic and symptomatic if associated with sentinel headache or oculomotor nerve palsy. Ktrans and AWE were assessed on DCE-MRI and VWI, respectively. AWE was evaluated using the AWE pattern and wall enhancement index (WEI). Spearman's correlation coefficient and univariate and multivariate analyses were used to assess correlations between parameters. Results: We enrolled 82 patients with 100 UIAs (28 symptomatic and 72 asymptomatic). The median Ktrans (2.1 versus 0.4 min−1; p < 0.001) and WEI (1.5 versus 0.4; p < 0.001) were higher for symptomatic aneurysms than for asymptomatic aneurysms. Ktrans (odds ratio [OR]: 1.60, 95% confidence interval [95% CI]: 1.01–2.52; p = 0.04) and WEI (OR: 3.31, 95% CI: 1.05–10.42; p = 0.04) were independent risk factors for symptomatic aneurysms. Ktrans was positively correlated with WEI (Spearman's coefficient of rank correlation (rs) = 0.41, p < 0.001). The combination of Ktrans and WEI achieved an area under the curve of 0.81 for differentiating symptomatic from asymptomatic aneurysms. Conclusions: Ktrans may be correlated with symptomatic aneurysms and AWE. Ktrans and WEI may provide an additional value than the PHASES score for risk stratification of UIAs. Clinical relevance statement: The volume transfer constant (Ktrans) from DCE-MRI perfusion is associated with symptomatic aneurysms and provides additional value above the clinical PHASES score for risk stratification of intracranial aneurysms. Objectives: To assess radiologists' current use of, and opinions on, structured reporting (SR) in oncologic imaging, and to provide recommendations for a structured report template. Materials and methods: An online survey with 28 questions was sent to European Society of Oncologic Imaging (ESOI) members. The questionnaire had four main parts: (1) participant information, e.g., country, workplace, experience, and current SR use; (2) SR design, e.g., numbers of sections and fields, and template use; (3) clinical impact of SR, e.g., on report quality and length, workload, and communication with clinicians; and (4) preferences for an oncology-focused structured CT report. Data analysis comprised descriptive statistics, chi-square tests, and Spearman correlation coefficients. Results: A total of 200 radiologists from 51 countries completed the survey: 57.0% currently utilized SR (57%), with a lower proportion within than outside of Europe (51.0 vs. 72.7%; p = 0.006). Among SR users, the majority observed markedly increased report quality (62.3%) and easier comparison to previous exams (53.5%), a slightly lower error rate (50.9%), and fewer calls/emails by clinicians (78.9%) due to SR. The perceived impact of SR on communication with clinicians (i.e., frequency of calls/emails) differed with radiologists' experience (p < 0.001), and experience also showed low but significant correlations with communication with clinicians (r = − 0.27, p = 0.003), report quality (r = 0.19, p = 0.043), and error rate (r = − 0.22, p = 0.016). Template use also affected the perceived impact of SR on report quality (p = 0.036). Conclusion: Radiologists regard SR in oncologic imaging favorably, with perceived positive effects on report quality, error rate, comparison of serial exams, and communication with clinicians. Clinical relevance statement: Radiologists believe that structured reporting in oncologic imaging improves report quality, decreases the error rate, and enables better communication with clinicians. Implementation of structured reporting in Europe is currently below the international level and needs society endorsement. Introduction: The effectiveness of multiple‐choice questions (MCQs) in dental education is pivotal to student performance and knowledge advancement. However, their optimal implementation requires exploration to enhance the benefits. Materials and Methods: An educational tool incorporating MCQs was administered from the 5th to the 10th semester in a dental curriculum. The students filled out a questionnaire after the MCQ, which was linked to the learning management system. Four cohorts of four semesters generated 2300 data points analysed by Spearmen correlation and mixed model regression analysis. Results: Demonstrated a significant correlation between early exam preparation and improved student performance. Independent study hours and lecture attendance emerged as significant predictors, accounting for approximately 10.27% of the variance in student performance on MCQs. While the number of MCQs taken showed an inverse relationship with study hours, the perceived clarity of these questions positively correlated with academic achievement. Conclusion: MCQs have proven effective in enhancing student learning and knowledge within the discipline. Our analysis underscores the important role of independent study and consistent lecture attendance in positively influencing MCQ scores. The study provides valuable insights into using MCQs as a practical tool for dental student learning. Moreover, the clarity of assessment tools, such as MCQs, remains pivotal in influencing student outcomes. The electroencephalogram (EEG) is a crucial tool for studying brain activity; yet it frequently encounters artifacts that distort meaningful neural signals. This paper addresses the challenge of artifact removal through a unique hybrid method, combining Variational Mode Decomposition (VMD) techniques with Blind Source Separation (BSS) algorithms. VMD, recognized for its adaptability to non-linear and non-stationary EEG data, as well as its ability to alleviate mode mixing and the "endpoint effect," which serves as an effective preprocessing step. The paper evaluates the performance of two integrated BSS algorithms, AMICA and AMUSE, across various criteria. Comparisons across metrics such as Euclidean distance, Spearman correlation coefficient, and Root Mean Square Error reveal similar performance between AMICA and AMUSE. However, a distinct divergence is evident in the Signal to Artifact Ratio (SAR). When employed with VMD, AMICA demonstrates superiority in effectively discerning and segregating brain signals from artifacts, which gives a mean value of 1.0924. This study introduces a potent hybrid VMDBSS approach for enhancing EEG signal quality. The findings emphasize the notable impact of AMICA, particularly in achieving optimal results in artifact removal, as indicated by its superior performance in SAR. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the Morse effect of different internal tapered implant-abutment connections (ITCs) using a pullout test. Implants with different ITCs were selected: Short (Bicon, USA), G1; Novo Colosso (Medens, Brazil), G2; Epkut (SIN, Brazil), G3; Strong SW (SIN, Brazil), G4; Flash (Conexão, Brazil), G5 and Bone Level (Straumann, Switzerland), G6. The respective computer-aided design (CAD) files were loaded into the analysis software to measure each ITC's taper angle and implant-abutment contact area. Six implants from each group were embedded in acrylic resin blocks, and the respective universal abutments were fixed using a mallet (G1) or by applying 20 Ncm of torque (G2 to G6). After 10 minutes, each abutment's retention screw was removed, and the force necessary for abutment rupture was recorded using a universal testing machine at a crosshead speed of 0.5 mm/min. The groups were compared using a one-way analysis of variance and Tukey's test. Spearman's correlation was used to check the correlation of the taper angle and contacting area with the pullout strength. G1, a no-screw abutment with a 3° taper, and G2, a 10° tapered abutment tightened by 20 Ncm, presented the highest pullout strength (P <.05). The increased taper angle of G4, compared to G3, reduced the Morse effect despite their similar implant-abutment contacting areas (P <.05). The G5 and G6 abutments loosened after screw removal and did not exhibit pullout resistance. The closer the tapered angle (r = −.958) and the higher the implant-abutment contact area (r =.880), the higher the pullout strength (P <.001). Within the limits of this study, the Morse effect is different among tapered implant-abutment connections. Introduction: Chronic pain can profoundly affect the wellbeing of dogs and our understanding is limited regarding the multidimensional impact it has on dog quality of life. This study aimed to assess the factors that are significant and predictive of chronic pain in dogs using the Animal Welfare Assessment Grid (AWAG) to further understand what factors influence their welfare. Methods: Seventy six AWAG assessments were undertaken across 46 dogs that clinicians diagnosed as having musculoskeletal conditions that caused chronic pain. Wilcoxon-rank sum tests were used to assess the difference in scores between dogs with chronic pain and a cohort of healthy dogs (n = 143). Results: All physical factors besides body condition, and all psychological, environmental, and procedural factors were significantly different between healthy dogs and dogs with chronic pain, evidencing how chronic pain impacts all domains of a dog's life. Spearman Rank Correlation Coefficient (RS) revealed several significant strong positive correlations such as the association between the severity of clinical symptoms with poorer mobility and the frequency at which the dog experienced fearful stimuli. Logistic regression showed that fears and anxieties frequency, the dog's reaction to stressors, engagement with enrichment, and social interactions were significant predictors of chronic pain in dogs. Discussion: This highlights that typical signs of musculoskeletal disorders such as gait changes, stiffness, lameness might manifest after behavioral changes such as increased fearfulness, prolonged recovery from a stressful event, a reduced interested in social interactions, toys or play. Owners only seeking veterinary attention when the presence of physical signs of disease are evident may result in a delayed veterinary attention resulting in reduced welfare. Methods: A retrospective observational study was conducted to identify patients >18 years undertaking esaxerenone alone or esaxerenone plus trimethoprim at Mie University Hospital from May 2019 to December 2022. We performed propensity score-matching (1:1) to compare between-group differences in the maximum change in serum potassium levels (ΔK) using the Mann–Whitney U test. For esaxerenone plus trimethoprim, Spearman's correlation coefficients were used to examine correlations between ΔK and variables, including changes in blood urea nitrogen (ΔBUN), serum creatinine levels (ΔCr), and weekly trimethoprim cumulative dose. Results: Out of propensity score-matched groups (n=8 each), serum potassium levels significantly increased after administration of esaxerenone alone (4.4 [4.2 to 4.7] meq/L to 5.2 [4.7 to 5.4] meq/L, p=0.008) and esaxerenone plus trimethoprim (4.2 [4.0 to 5.1] meq/L to 5.4 [4.7 to 5.5] meq/L, p=0.023). ΔK did not significantly differ between the groups (esaxerenone alone; 0.6 [0.3 to 0.9] meq/L vs. esaxerenone plus trimethoprim; 1.0 [0.4 to 1.3] meq/L, p=0.342). ΔK positively correlated with ΔBUN (r=0.988, p<0.001) or ΔCr (r=0.800, p=0.017). There was a trend of correlation of ΔK with a weekly cumulative trimethoprim dose (r=0.607, p=0.110). Conclusions: The hyperkalemic effect of the drug–drug interaction between esaxerenone and trimethoprim is not notable and related to renal function and trimethoprim dosage. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: To clarify the impact of intravenous infusion of gamma globulin (IVIg) on antinuclear antibodies (ANAs) in children. Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on the data of children with nonspecific autoantibody-related diseases whose antinuclear antibody (ANA) and autoantibody profiles were detected in our hospital from January to March 2022. A total of 108 patients with a clear history of IVIg infusion within 28 days composed the IVIg group, and 1201 patients without a history of IVIg infusion composed the non-IVIg group. Results: All patients in the IVIg group had either positive ANAs or positive autoantibodies. Anti-SSA, anti-Ro52 and anti-AMA Mi2 were the top three autoantibodies in the IVIg group. The proportions of patients who were positive for either of these three autoantibodies in the IVIg group were significantly greater than those in the non-IVIg group (all P<0.5). Spearman correlation analysis revealed that the signal intensities of anti-SSA and anti-Ro52 were negatively correlated with the number of days of ANA detection after IVIg infusion (P<0.05). Multiple logistic analyses revealed that a greater total dosage of IVIg, greater IVIg per kilogram of body weight, and fewer ANA detection days after IVIg infusion were independent risk factors for positive anti-SSA and anti-Ro52 results. Conclusions: It is recommended that if rheumatic diseases are suspected, ANA detection should be carried out beforeIVIg infusion. But for patients who are positive for at least one of these three autoantibodies after IVIg infusion, doctors should first consider adoptive antibodies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
