ZnO/g-C3N4 heterojunction modified with Ag nanoparticles (ZnO/CN/Ag) was synthesized by depositing ZnO nanorods/Ag nanoparticles onto g-C3N4 nanosheets. Under xenon lamp irradiation, 99% of Rhodamine B (RhB) was degraded by ZnO/CN/Ag-5% composite within 30 min, which was much higher than the degradation efficiency of ZnO and ZnO/CN. The synergistic effect of g-C3N4 and ZnO, along with the localized surface plasmon resonance effect of Ag NPs, contributes to the improvement of photocatalytic performance. Ag nanoparticle provides another charge transfer path from g-C3N4 to ZnO, which speeds up the separation of electron–hole pairs. Meanwhile, the catalyst had good stability and recyclability. Corn-like ZnO/Ag2S heterojunctions are designed and prepared by the solvothermal method and the subsequent covering process. They construct a type II core–shell heterojunction structure. This structure adjusts the relative positions of electron energy levels and generates a strong and broad absorption band, while emitting weak visible light. It also facilitates the transfer of photoexcited carriers through the interface and the confinement of the same by the different components of the nanostructure. Separation of electrons and holes makes them possible to drift to the surface of ZnO and Ag2S and to participate in the redox reactions. In addition, the presence of many defects produces many active sites on the surface of the lattice. So, the ZnO/Ag2S heterojunctions exhibit excellent photocatalytic properties in the first and second cycles of the photocatalytic process. It degrades 97.7% Rhodamine B only in 18 min. Shape-stable phase change materials (SSPCMs) are excellent for thermal energy storage applications. This study presents the first novel fluorescent switchable bio-smart SSPCMs incorporating waste. We used poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) as the phase change material combined with leather waste (LW) and poly(glycidyl methacrylate) (PGMA). These composites achieved a relatively high shape fixity ratio (62–70%) and 100% shape recovery in both air (70 °C) and water (37 °C). They remained stable over a wide temperature range (−28.2 to 220 °C) and had high phase change enthalpies (86.8–149.7 J g−1). Composite PGL721 fully healed at 70 °C within 1.5 hours. By adding fluorescein and rhodamine B to PGL721, we created smart fluorescent SSPCMs, namely, FSSPCM1 and FSSPCM2. FSSPCM1 exhibited ON–OFF–ON fluorescence with heating, while FSSPCM2 showed ON–OFF fluorescence in the presence of Fe3+ ion (0.7 M). Water contamination due to significant industrialization and urbanization has drawn the attention of numerous researchers to water remediation techniques like photocatalysis. The intriguing characteristics of silicon nanowires (SiNWs), like light trapping and catalytic activity for the removal of textile dyes, have drawn attention to this material. In this work, the synthesis of SiNWs and their modifications with metal particles like copper or silver with different concentrations has been reported. Metal‐assisted chemical etching, a cost‐effective and easy method, is used to synthesis SiNWs with an optimized aspect ratio. The as‐prepared materials and it photocatalysis performance are studied by X‐ray diffraction (XRD), field emission and transmission electron microscope (FESEM, TEM), and UV–visible spectroscopy. The XRD confirms the presence of the copper particles on SiNWs. The FESEM image reveals the formation of flower‐like structures with different morphologies for silver and copper‐modified SiNWs. The as‐prepared samples have shown efficacy in removing Rhodamine‐B by the process of photocatalysis under irradiation with UV light. It has been observed that when the concentration of the copper nanoparticles is increased, a significant increase in the photocatalytic activity is obtained. Iron is crucial for various biological processes in humans, animals, and plants, making precise and efficient monitoring of iron ion concentrations essential. To address this need, a cellulose‐based smart fluorescent material (NCC@NH2@RB) with a conjugated structure is designed and synthesized for the rapid and sensitive detection of Fe3+ ions. This sensor features core‐shell nanoparticles functionalized with rhodamine B (RB), using (3‐aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (APTES) as a linker. The resulting fluorescent probe, composed of nanocrystalline cellulose and RB, exhibits strong fluorescence under ultraviolet light, making it an effective tool for Fe3+ ion detection in water. When Fe3+ ions are introduced into a solution containing NCC@NH2@RB, they bind with weak‐field ligands such as nitrogen and oxygen in the probe's structure, forming complexes. This interaction involves high‐spin coordination and leads to the self‐assembly of Fe3+ ions on the surface of NCC@NH2@RB. The process generates single electrons, increasing paramagnetism and quenching the fluorescence. The NCC@NH2@RB fluorescent probe has a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.01 µM and a limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.03 µM with linearity at concentrations of 1.0 × 10−4–2.5 × 10−3 m. Due to the advancement of industrialization, water pollution has become an alarming global issue. Many organic dyes, such as crystal violet and rhodamine B, present in industrial wastewater are causing severe health problems. Both of these dyes are carcinogenic. For their degradation, ferrites are synthesized in this research. Ferrites have high absorbing potential in visible regions and fast movement of charge carrier species. Therefore, the ferrites are potentially used in photocatalysis to purify contaminated water. Graphitic carbon nitride shows enhanced separation of charges, which lowers the rate of recombination of charge carrier species. Lithium nickel ferrite, lithium nickel ferrite doped with terbium, and its composite with graphitic carbon nitride (g-C 3 N 4) are synthesized by sol-gel and ultra-sonication methods, respectively. The prepared samples are analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and Mott-Schottky analysis. The bandgap of LiNiFe 2 O 4 and LiNiTbFe 2 O 4 was 2.35 eV, and 1.87 eV, respectively. LiNiTbFe 2 O 4 @g-C 3 N 4 degraded 86 % crystal violet and 83 % rhodamine B in 120 min. • An energy-saving method that recycles valuables from spent anodes was proposed. • PVDF binder was deactivated at 150 °C using eutectic NaOH-KOH as roasting medium. • Apart from graphite, 93.2 % of lithium was extracted during water-washing process. • Recycled graphite was reused directly as an environmental catalyst. The effective recovery of valuables from anodes coming from spent lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) is of great importance to ensure resource supply and reduce the environmental burden for recycling. In this work, a simple and low energy consumption roasting method was proposed by employing low-temperature eutectic NaOH-KOH as reaction medium, in order to simultaneously separate graphite from Cu foils, extract lithium from it and set it up for reuse as environmental catalyst through one-step water washing process. Our results show that polyvinylidene difluoride (PVDF) was effectively deactivated due to dehydrofluorination/carbonization at a relatively low temperature and short time (150 °C, 20 min) when a mass ratio of 1:1 for eutectic NaOH-KOH to spent LIBs anodes was used, yielding 97.3 % of graphite detached. Moreover, a remarkable lithium extraction efficiency of 93.2 % was simultaneously obtained. Afterwards, the reusability of the recycled graphite was tested by employing it as a catalyst for the treatment of a contaminant organic dye (Rhodamine B) in the presence of NaClO. Our results show that a superior NaClO activation was obtained with the addition of recycled graphite, being this fact closely associated to the abundant active sites formed during the long-term charging/discharging cycles in the original battery. The alkaline-mediated roasting process presented in this work presents an energy-saving scheme to efficiently recover useful components from spent anodes, whereas the reusability example highlighted a useful option for repurposing the severely damaged graphite as an environmental catalyst rather than disposing it in landfills, turning waste into a valuable material. This study presents a high-performance piezo-photocatalyst for efficient dye degradation using a synergistic barium titanate (BTO)-MXene composite. The composite was synthesized via a facile method, combining the unique properties of BTO nanoparticles with the high conductivity of MXene. The structural and morphological analysis confirmed the successful formation of the composite, with well-dispersed BTO nanoparticles on the MXene surface. The piezo-photocatalytic activity of the composite was evaluated using a typical dye solution (Rhodamine B: RhB) under ultraviolet irradiation and mechanical agitation. The results revealed a remarkable enhancement in dye degradation (90 % in 15 min for piezo-photocatalysis) compared to individual stimuli (58.2 % for photocatalysis and 95.8 % in 90 min for piezocatalysis), highlighting the synergistic effects between BTO and MXene. The enhanced catalytic performance was attributed to the efficient charge separation and transfer facilitated by the composite's structure, leading to increased reactive species generation and dye molecule degradation. Furthermore, the composite exhibited excellent stability and reusability, showcasing its potential for practical applications in wastewater treatment. The grey squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis) is an invasive alien species in the United Kingdom (UK). The economic impact of grey squirrels on England and Wales forestry is estimated to be around £37 million ($47 million USD) per year, and the presence of this species has caused the decline of the native red squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris) due to interspecific competition and transmission of diseases. Oral contraceptives, delivered in baits, are being developed to control the number of grey squirrels in the UK. Bait uptake can be affected by many factors that must be understood to develop effective delivery methods. As sexually mature females drive population growth, targeting these females with oral contraceptives should be a priority to maximize the impacts of oral contraceptives on grey squirrel populations. This study investigated whether sex, age, or reproductive status affected bait uptake by grey squirrels. We fitted 138 squirrels with passive integrated transponders (PIT‐tags) in 4 woodland sites in the UK and measured bait uptake using squirrel‐specific bait dispensers (hoppers) fitted with PIT‐tag readers and baited with hazelnut paste and the biomarker rhodamine B for 5 days in 2018 and 2022. Overall, 49% of squirrels consumed bait from the hoppers and bait was most likely to be consumed by reproductively active females. Immature squirrels made more visits per day to hoppers and visited more hoppers per day compared with adults, though the results for immature animals were highly variable. Sex, age, and reproductive status were not found to affect bait uptake in grey squirrels at the density of squirrels (3.9–6.3/ha) and bait hoppers (3/ha) tested in this study. The results confirmed that it should be possible to deliver oral contraceptives equally to different individuals within populations of grey squirrels within a relatively short period. In this work, ZnO, CuO, and CuO-ZnO nanomaterials have been synthesized via green and facile route using Argyreia nervosa leaf extract. The structural, morphological, optical, chemical, and textural characteristics of as-synthesized nanostructures were investigated using different techniques including X-ray diffraction (XRD); field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM); transmission electron microscopy (TEM);UV–visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR); Brunauer, Emmett and Teller (BET)/Barrett-Joyner-Halenda (BJH); and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). Results obtained from the characterization study showed that the ZnO, CuO, and CuO-ZnO were successfully synthesized using the leaf extract of A. nervosa. The results exhibited the homogeneously growth of CuO particles on the surface of ZnO particles in a spherical-like shapes. The photocatalytic degradation efficiency of the synthesized nanostructures was investigated adopting Rhodamine B dye as an aqueous polluted model. The results have shown that the CuO-ZnO (10%) nanocomposite was the most efficient photocatalyst compared to other samples. The factors affecting the photodegradation process such as the effect of irradiation time (0–180 min), photocatalyst dose (0.4–1.4 g/L), initial RhB concentration (5–20 ppm), and the solution pH (3–11) were tested. The maximum photocatalytic degradation efficiency achieved was 90.25%. Additionally, reuse experiments proved that the CuO-ZnO (10%) photocatalyst retained 72.8% of its initial efficiency after recycling for five cycles. The current study aims to valorize C. demersum, a common aquatic plant in lakes, ponds, and quiet streams with little use. FeCl3 -impregnated C. demersum was directly pyrolyzed to yield iron oxide-loaded biochar (IO/BC). Analytical results revealed that 3.19 wt% Fe existed in the resulting composite, including predominant hematite (a-Fe2 O3 ) and minor magnetite (Fe3 O4 ). Moreover, the total pore volume (Vtotal) and the specific surface area (SBET) of IO/BC were 0.091 cm3 /g and 113 m2 /g, respectively. IO/BC was subsequently explored for catalytic rhodamine B (RhB) degradation using H2 O2 . At pH 3.0, 30 °C, 1.00 g/L IO/BC partly eliminated 18% RhB (20 ppm), corresponding to an adsorption capacity of 3.6 mg/g. Upon the addition of 120 ppm H2 O2, total RhB removal reached 92% after 90 min. Furthermore, RhB treatment was consistent with the pseudo-first-order kinetics. The rate constant (k) at 30 °C was 0.0260 min-1, and the activation energy (Ea ) was 72 kJ/mol. The carbon nanotubes/zinc oxide (CNTs/ZnO) nanocomposites were immobilized on the poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) membrane for highly reutilization rate in photocatalytic degradation of RhodamineB (RhB) based on the combination of electrospinning and ultrasonication treatment. The results revealed that the CNTs are successfully compounded with ZnO, and the surface of nanofibers was uniformly covered with CNTs/ZnO nanoparticles. Under visible light irradiation, the CNTs/ZnO@PVA nanocomposites displayed excellent photocatalytic activity with 98.4% of RhB degradation rate within 3 h illumination. In comparison with pure PVA, and CNTs/ZnO with equivalent loading capacity on CNTs/ZnO@PVA film suspended in aqueous solution, the synthesized CNTs/ZnO@PVA film degrades RhB dye more efficiently. Furthermore, the photocatalytic activity of CNTs/ZnO@PVA nanocomposites did not change significantly even after five recycles, indicating a certain degree of reusability. The mechanism of enhanced photocatalytic activity was proposed. This study investigates the visible light‐assisted photocatalytic degradation of rhodamine B (Rh B) dye using MoS2–CdS nanocomposite. Two crucial operational parameters, illumination time and the weight ratio of MoS2 to CdS, are systematically examined. Approximately, 91.9% of Rh B solution with a concentration of 10 mg/L is degraded by the MoS2–CdS photocatalyst under 60 min of illumination, with a photocatalyst dosage of 0.5 g/L. The results are consistent with a pseudo‐first‐order kinetic model, wherein the degradation rate constant of CdS increases fourfold after amalgamation with MoS2. The formation of the composite with MoS2 results in 1.72 times increase in the apparent quantum yield and 3.15 times decrease in the electrical energy consumption per order of CdS nanorods under similar experimental conditions. The investigation also comprehensively explores the reactive species responsible for Rh B degradation under visible light in the presence of MoS2–CdS photocatalyst. This analysis confirms that both hydroxyl and superoxide anion radicals play a dominant role in Rh B degradation. These findings underscore the potential practical applications of MoS2–CdS nanorods in eco‐friendly water treatment technologies, offering efficient and sustainable solutions to contemporary environmental challenges. The alkaline treatment synthesis of titania/titanate nanotubes (TNTs) requires highly concentrated alkaline solutions (≥ 10 mol/L), which pose environmental and productivity limitations. In contrast, a bottom-up synthesis method for peroxo-titanate nanotubes (PTNTs) has been developed. This method offers two advantages: it can synthesize materials using low-concentration alkaline solutions (1.5 mol/L) and produce photocatalytic materials that are responsive to visible light. In general, the higher the crystallinity of a catalyst, the better its properties. However, PTNTs synthesized at temperatures close to their boiling point (around 100 °C) exhibit low crystallinity. This study hypothesizes a hydrothermal synthesis method at higher temperatures will enhance the crystallinity and photocatalytic performance of PTNTs, synthesizing them at temperatures ranging from 120 to 200 °C using a method capable of exceeding the boiling point. Higher synthesis temperatures resulted in improved morphological and crystallographic properties of the PTNTs. However, the formation of peroxo-bonding, crucial for visible light responsiveness, decreased. Nevertheless, peroxo-bonding formation was still achievable at the highest temperature of 200 °C, and the sample exhibited the best Rhodamine B (Rh B) photodegradation performance under visible light due to its enhanced specific surface area and crystallinity. This study highlights the novelty and environmental significance of hydrothermally synthesized PTNTs as superior photocatalysts by optimizing the synthesis temperature while using lower concentration alkaline solutions. Highlights: High-temperature hydrothermal synthesis significantly enhances the crystallinity and surface area of peroxo-titanate nanotubes (PTNTs). ABSTRACT This study explores the controlled synthesis of a novel Fe3O4@C magnetic nanocomposite derived from FeBTC metal–organic framework (MOF) and its application as an efficient adsorbent for the removal of rhodamine dye from wastewater. The FeBTC MOF was first synthesized and then thermally decomposed in a controlled oxygen atmosphere at 375°C (1 h) to form the Fe3O4@C nanocomposite with a magnetic Fe3O4 core embedded in a porous carbon matrix. A comprehensive characterization of the nanocomposite was performed using x‐ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and x‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) to confirm the successful formation and to evaluate its structural and morphological properties. The morphological investigation revealed that the particles of Fe3O4 had a spherical shape with diameter of 10–15 nm. The carbon coating appeared as a thin amorphous layer surrounding the Fe3O4 nanoparticles. The adsorption capacity of Fe3O4@C for rhodamine B (RhB) dye was assessed under various conditions, including different pH values, contact times, initial dye concentrations, and temperatures. Complete dye removal was attained in 45 min using 50 mg of the nanocomposite and 50 mL of 5.0 ppm RhB at the optimum pH of 9.1. Under the same experimental conditions, the highest adsorption capacity of 13.0 mg/g was obtained, but using 15.0 mg of the nanocomposite. Fe3O4@C nanocomposite exhibits high adsorption efficiency, with a maximum removal capacity of 100%, which is clearly superior to many conventional adsorbents. This performance can be attributed to the synergistic effects of the magnetic Fe3O4 and the large surface area of the carbon matrix. Kinetic models were employed to understand the adsorption mechanism. The adsorption kinetics followed a pseudo‐second‐order model. The reusability of the adsorbent was tested over multiple cycles and showed a minimal loss of performance (drops to 93.0% after five removal cycles). The study demonstrates that the Fe3O4@C nanocomposite is a promising candidate for the effective removal of organic dyes from wastewater, offering potential benefits for environmental remediation and sustainable water management. Catalytic reduction of organic pollutants using metal nanoparticles (MNPs) as nanocatalyst is a promising approach. The widespread application of MNPs have led to an increase demand for their production. The green biosynthesis of MNPs using microbes is becoming increasingly important as they are benign and environmentally friendly. In this work, Deinococcus wulumuqiensis (D. wulumuqiensis) with high resistance to stresses was applied for the green preparation of different MNPs, including palladium nanoparticles (Pd NPs), silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs), and Pd−Ag bimetallic nanoparticles (Pd−Ag BNPs). The resultant MNPs exhibited a face‐centered cubic structure, with average size of 6.70 (Pd NPs), 6.24 (Ag NPs), and 6.13 nm (Pd−Ag BNPs), respectively. FT‐IR spectra indicated that the proteins and polysaccharides expressed by D. wulumuqiensis could potentially contributed to the formation of MNPs. The application of as‐prepared biocatalyst in catalytic degradation of pollutant dyes demonstrated that Pd−Ag BNPs had greater degradation ability of 4‐nitrophenol (95.1 %) and Rhodamine B (85.1 %) than monometallic nanoparticles. The pseudo‐first‐order kinetics results further indicated the superior catalytic ability of Pd−Ag BNPs, with rate constant of 0.450±0.009 (4‐nitrophenol) and 1.54×10−2 min−1 (Rhodamine B), respectively. Thus, the present study confirms that D. wulumuqiensis represents a promising candidate for the biosynthesis of Pd‐based nanoparticles with small size, which exhibited potential applications as bionanocatalyst in the degradation of water pollutants. The realization of persistent luminescence and in particular circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) of organic radicals remains a challenge due to their sensitivity to oxygen at ambient conditions and elusive excited state chirality control. Here, it is reported that UV‐irradiation on a supramolecular gel from a chiral triarylamine derivative, TPA‐Ala, led to the formation of luminescent radicals with bright CPL. TPA‐Ala can form an organogel in chloroform with blue emission and supramolecular chirality as demonstrated by both CD and CPL signals. Upon UV 365 nm irradiation, an emission color change from blue to cyan is observed due to the formation of photo‐induced radicals. Interestingly, it is found that the supramolecular gel radicals showed stable luminescence with a lifetime ≈ 10 days in dark environments and inverted CPL, which represents a scarce example with persistent CPL from doublet‐state due to oxygen isolation ability of the gel network. Furthermore, doping a guest dye, Rhodamine B (RhB), into the supramolecular gel (RhB/TPA‐Ala = 30% in molar ratio) successfully obtained a transient white‐light CPL through the superposition of photo‐induced radical and guest dye emissions. This study aims to enhance the piezocatalytic activity of ZnO by modifying it with a thin carbon layer (TCL). The composite catalysts were synthesized using a simple hydrothermal method. The tightly adhered TCL served as an effective electron transfer medium, enabling the rapid migration of piezoinduced charge carriers from the ZnO to the catalyst surface, thereby facilitating the catalytic degradation of Rhodamine B (RhB). The optimized TCL/ZnO sample exhibits an RhB degradation rate 13.4 times higher than that of pure ZnO. This work demonstrates that TCL/ZnO has significant potential in piezocatalytic water purification and offers new insights into the design of efficient piezocatalytic materials. Hydrogen peroxide–based Fenton reaction can effectively degrade many small-molecule fluorescent dyes, leading to notable alterations in fluorescence signals. Additionally, the two-dimensional black phosphorus/platinum nanocomposite (BP/Pt) demonstrates exceptional catalase (CAT) characteristics. Based on these, a colorimetric-fluorescence dual-mode signal output pattern based on BP/Pt-Fenton reaction-rhodamine B tandem reaction system is reported. The physical adsorption property of the BP/Pt nanozymes was utilized to couple with antibodies, thus constructing a novel dual-mode nanozyme-based immuno-sensing assay (NISA). By using the migratory antibiotic enrofloxacin (ENR) as the target, the NISA provided highly sensitive detection with the detection limits of 0.058 ng/mL for colorimetric-mode and 0.025 ng/mL for fluorescence-mode and achieved accurate quantitative detection in environmental water and crucian carp samples. This work provides an innovative design for monitoring antibiotics in the environment and broadens the idea for the application of nanozymes and Fenton systems in immunosensing assays. In the current study, we attempt to remove 3‐monochloropropane‐1,2‐diol fatty acid ester (3‐MCPD ester) from palm oil with developed composite adsorbent (Tween80 modified activated carbon [AC]), and scanning electron microscopy‐energy dispersive spectrometer, Fourier transform‐infrared spectroscopy, X‐ray diffraction, nitrogen content adsorption‐desorption and thermogravimetric analysis were used to characterize the modifications. We further examined the adsorption capability of the composite adsorbent for 3‐MCPD ester and found that the highest removal efficiency was 87.36% (5.3% of adsorbent dose at 104°C for 29 min). This is approximately three times higher than that of pristine AC, implying that the composite can be employed as a novel adsorbent for 3‐MCPD ester reduction. Along with the adsorption mechanism of Langmuir, Freundlich, Dubinin–Radushkevich, and Temkin models were also tested. It has been suggested that Freundlich model could best describe the adsorption process. Adsorption was found to be well‐fitted by pseudo‐second‐order kinetics according to the kinetic study. In recent years, halide perovskite materials have become widely used in solar cells, photovoltaics, and LEDs, as well as photocatalysis. Lead-free perovskite Cs3Bi2I9 has been demonstrated as an effective photocatalyst; however, the fast recombination of the photogenerated carriers hinders further improvements of its photocatalytic activity. In this work, Ti3C2 was composited with Cs3Bi2I9 to promote the transfer and separation of photogenerated carriers, and thus the pollutant degradation efficiency was effectively improved. The visible-light photocatalytic reduction of Cs3Bi2I9/Ti3C2 on rhodamine B (RhB), methylene blue (MB), and malachite green (MG) was as high as 97.3%, 96%, and 98.8%, respectively, improvements of almost 31.2%, 37.8%, and 37.2% compared to that of sole Cs3Bi2I9. This study developed mycelial biochar composites, BQH-AN and BQH-MV, with stable physicochemical properties and significantly improved adsorption capabilities through microbial modification. The results showed that the specific surface area and porosity of BQH-AN (3547.47 m2 g−1 and 2.37 cm3 g−1) and BQH-MV (3205.59 m2 g−1 and 2.46 cm3 g−1) were significantly higher than those of biochar BQH (2641.31 m2 g−1 and 1.81 cm3 g−1), which was produced without microbial treatment. In adsorption experiments using rhodamine B (RhB), tetracycline hydrochloride (TC), and Cr (VI), BQH-AN showed maximum adsorption capacities of 1450.79 mg g−1 for RhB, 1608.43 mg g−1 for TC, and 744.15 mg g−1 for Cr(VI). BQH-MV showed similarly strong performance, with 1329.85 mg g−1 for RhB, 1526.46 mg g−1 for TC, and 752.27 mg g−1 for Cr(VI). These values were not only higher than those of BQH but also outperformed most other biochar adsorbents. Additionally, after five reuse cycles, the pollutant removal efficiency of the mycelial biochar composites remained above 69%, demonstrating excellent regenerative ability. This study not only produced biochar with superior adsorption properties but also highlighted microbial modification as an effective way to enhance lignocellulosic biochar performance, paving the way for further biomass development. Photocatalytic degradation is a leading technology for complete mineralization of organic dyes in the ocean. In this work, a new viologen-bearing silver-thiocyanate-based photocatalyst, i.e., {(i-PrV)[Ag2(SCN)4]}n (i-PrV2+ = isopropyl viologen) has been synthesized and structurally determined, with results showing that it can exhibit excellent degradation performance on rhodamine B (RhB) in artificial seawater. The planar i-PrV2+ dications are confined in the free voids of the [Ag2(SCN)4]n2n− layer with a two-dimensional (6,3) mesh, and strong C-H···S hydrogen bonds contribute to its structural stabilization. This photocatalyst was further characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), UV-Vis, fluorescence, and photo/electrical responsive measurements, pointing to its application in visible-light-driven catalysis. Interestingly, using this photocatalyst, good photocatalytic degradation performance on rhodamine B in artificial seawater could be observed. Supramolecules are considered a promising approach for molecular logic gates due to their inherent dynamic responsiveness driven by non‐covalent forces. However, the lack of input sequence dependence in these logic gates may lead to misinterpretation of outputs, compromising their reliability. This study proposes an efficient universal supramolecular Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) platform for logic gates with self‐locking features. Specifically, well‐designed naphthalene‐based monomers serve as energy donors, while dyes such as eosin Y (EY), rhodamine B (RhB), and sulforhodamine 101 (SR101), spanning from yellow to red, are employed as energy acceptors. Leveraging large exciton migration rates (1.21 × 1014 to 1.36 × 1014 L mol−1 s−1) between donor and acceptors, FRET processes are effectively facilitated. Building upon this framework, supramolecular logic gates with self‐locking features are successfully constructed. Bismuth ferrite, whose formula is BiFeO3 (BFO), is widely studied for its photovoltaic and photocatalytic properties. In this study, samples of this material were synthesized using the microwave-assisted hydrothermal method with the aim of measuring its ability to discolor contaminants present in water in previously formulated concentrations through photocatalysis. Photocatalysis is a process with great potential for applicability in the decontamination of effluents. The analysis process used a 1:1 molar ratio of bismuth nitrate to iron nitrate, with the addition of potassium hydroxide to the aqueous solution. Two samples were synthesized at different temperatures, specifically 140 °C and 160 °C. An X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that the synthesized samples were in an amorphous state. Photocatalytic tests were carried out to evaluate the ability of these materials to decolorize rhodamine B present in water in a previously known proportion. A sample synthesized at 140 °C successfully decolorized the solution within 60 min, providing its potential application in photocatalytic processes for decolorization of organic substances from wastewater. In turn, a sample synthesized at 160 °C discolored or contaminated in a slightly longer time. The samples were also subjected to a temperature of 750 ºC until crystallinity was reached. A novel TiO2/CoFe2O4/SiO2 magnetic nanocomposite was successfully synthesized using sol–gel and hydrothermal methods. This nanocomposite consists of highly dispersed CoFe2O4 and TiO2 nanoparticles on the surface of the SiO2 matrix. The synthesis process involved the utilization of activated carbon, which played a dual role as a support for depositing the CoFe2O4 and TiO2 nanoparticles and as a rigid pattern for producing the silica matrix that enmeshed the nanoparticles. To study the unique characteristics of the samples, a range of analytical techniques, such as FT‐IR, VSM, XRD, SEM, N2 adsorption–desorption analysis, BET and EDX were employed. We carried out a complete examination of the catalytic performance of the TiO2/CoFe2O4/SiO2 nanocomposite for the reduction of different substances, including methyl orange (MO), safranin O (SO), methylene blue (MB), rhodamine B (RhB), chromium (VI) ions, and nitroaromatic compounds such as 2‐nitrophenol (2‐NP), 4‐nitroaniline (4‐NA), 2‐nitroaniline (2‐NA), and 4‐nitrophenol (4‐NP). The findings of our study demonstrate the remarkable efficacy of the TiO2/CoFe2O4/SiO2 nanocomposite in efficiently reducing dyes, Cr (VI), and nitroaromatic compounds to their desired forms in environmentally friendly aqueous solutions. Surfactant‐assisted synthesis of photocatalysts for water treatment has received extensive attention from researchers. In this paper, a novel and efficient BiOBr/graphene oxide (BiOBr/GO) photocatalyst assisted by sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) was synthesized by a simple solvothermal method. Compared with use of other surfactants, like polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB), BiOBr/GO (SDS) shows outstanding photocatalytic degradation activity under optimal conditions: The degradation rate constants of BiOBr/GO (SDS) for oxytetracycline (OTC), tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH), brilliant blue (BB), and Rhodamine B (RhB) are 0.073, 0.057, 0.166, and 0.626 min−1, which are 2.8, 1.8, 9, and 1.5 times larger than pure BiOBr, respectively. In addition, after five cycles, BiOBr/GO (SDS) exhibits superior cycling stability. The enhanced photocatalytic performance can benefit from the introduction of SDS and GO. With the assistance of SDS in the preparation process, BiOBr/GO (SDS) nanosheets have good adsorption performance and dispersion effect, which is favorable for raising their specific surface area. Meanwhile, the electron capture effect of GO improves the transfer and separation efficiency of photogenerated carriers. The availability of fresh water is limited compared to its huge consumption. Conversely, certain industries like dyes, textiles, paper, and tanning not only consume vast quantities of fresh water, but also generate significant amounts of wastewater that poses severe threats to living organisms. The present investigation focuses on the degradation of Rhodamine-B (Rh–B) as a model pollutant by using the nanocomposite based on waste scrap tire-derived activated carbon (AC) and titanium dioxide (TiO 2). These nanostructures were fabricated using wet chemistry techniques. Analysis using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) revealed that the morphology of the structures remained largely unchanged even with a concentration of 6 mg of AC. X-ray diffraction (XRD) results confirmed the successful fabrication of rutile and anatase phases of TiO 2 @AC nanocomposite. The XPS results confirmed the presence of AC and TiO 2 in the composite. Furthermore, the optical band gap of the nanocomposites decreased up to 17.17 % and 34.57 % through direct and indirect methods respectively, owing to the varying quantity of AC used. The narrowing of optical band gap and the increased surface oxygen vacancies were caused by the successive addition of AC during the synthesis of nanocomposites. This resulted in the efficient degradation of Rhodamine-B (Rh–B) using adsorption and photocatalytic oxidation. The findings demonstrate a significant influence of AC on the TiO 2 catalyst in the removal of Rh–B dye. The maximum efficiency of dye removal, reaching up to 99.14 %, was achieved with the highest concentration of AC, thus demonstrating almost complete elimination of Rh–B dye. A photocatalysis system is widely regarded as the most renewable approach to environmental treatment since sunlight is a long-term source of energy for the planet. This study assessed the efficacy of a photocatalyst graphitic carbon nitride/bismuth oxychloride (g-C3N4/BiOCl) by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), photo-luminance, photocurrent density, and X-ray diffraction to characterize the photocatalyst. The results showed an improvement in morphology and enhanced photodegradation of pharmaceutical residues such as Nitenpyram, Tetracycline, and Rhodamine B. For a wavelength range of 655 to 420 nm, the synthesized photocatalysts were good at the absorption of visible light. A photodegradation proficiency of 64.72% was observed with tetracycline, 48.91% nitenpyram, and 98.70% with Rhodamine B in 30 min. The g-C3N4/BiOCl displayed a significant photocatalytic activity due to high load separation and transition. This study shows that g-C3N4/BiOCl photocatalyst has been confirmed as one of the most intriguing contenders for innovative photocatalyst designs and can potentially be used in treating wastewater and the environment at large. In this study, a one-step solvothermal method was used to fabricate Fe3+ doped BiOCl microflowers with abundant oxygen vacancies (OVs) in the presence of glacial acetic acid. Various analytical techniques were employed to characterize the structural, morphological, and optical properties of the prepared samples. The presence of OVs was confirmed by low temperature electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) analysis. The photocatalytic results show that Fe3+ doped BiOCl photocatalysts have higher activity than the bare BiOCl, and 10% Fe3+/BiOCl exhibits the highest photocatalytic performance, the photocatalytic efficiency of this sample is 2.3 and 1.1 times higher than that of the blank BiOCl toward photocatalytic degradation of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and rhodamine B (RhB), respectively. Furthermore, Fe3+ doped BiOCl demonstrates excellent reusability. Excessive intake of nitrite causes serious health problems. Monitoring nitrite levels is necessary for protecting both human health and the environment. Therefore, the fabrication of sensors for rapid detection of nitrite was the aim of this work. We proposed a new method based on an electrochemical sensor prepared from polyrhodamine B (PRhB) coating deposited on polylactic acid modified carbon black (PLA-CB) electrode. The synthesized PRhB/PLA-CB sensor is selective and efficient for nitrite detection, which is based on the interaction between the dimethylamino group of PRhB and nitrite and it has both the advantages of simple preparation and low cost. In optimal experimental conditions, the results of cyclic voltammetry showed that PRhB/PLA-CB, showed significant improvement of the electro-catalytic performance (20%) compared to bare PLA-CB thanks to due to the large surface area and porosity provided by PLA-CB combined with the conductivity and catalytic activity of PRhB. The coating was characterized using the scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The effects of pH and scan rate on nitrite detection were evaluated. The modified electrodes exhibited a remarkable electro-catalytic performance with a wide linear range of 1-10000 µM and low limit of detection (LOD) of 0.342 µM and limit of quantification (LOQ) of 1.036 µM. Introduction: Rapid detection of amino acids plays an important role in the field of medical diagnosis. By combining Rhodamine B with triphenylamine, a novel double-response fluorescence probe (E)-4-((4-(((3′,6′-bis(diethylamino)-3-oxospiro[isoindoline-1,9′-xanthen]-2-yl)imino)methyl)phenyl)(phenyl)amino)benzaldehyde (RBTPA) was prepared for rapid identification of different amino acids. Methods: Under daylight and 365 nm irradiation, it was found that the color change was most bright at pH = 3, and changed to dim at pH = 4. When pH = 3 and pH = 4, the photophysical properties of the two strong acids are very different. The maximum redshift of UV absorption light is 110 nm, and the maximum fluorescence emission intensity is 4 times different. Results and Discussion: In order to further observe their binding structure analysis with different amino acids, qualitative analysis of each response structure was determined by mass spectrometry according to different molecular weights. The development of photocatalysts must be meticulous, especially when they are designed to degrade hazardous dyes that cause mutagenesis and carcinogenesis. In this meticulous approach, Ni-based metal–organic frameworks with different ligands, including terephthalic acid (NTP), 2-aminoterephthalic acid (NATP), and their composite with g-C3N4 (NTP/GCN, and NATP/GCN) have been synthesized using hydrothermal method. Structural analysis by XRD and ATR-IR revealed synergistic properties due to robust chemical interactions between the NATP-MOFs and GCN systems. A flower-like morphology was observed for both NTP and NATP, while their composites showed mixed-particulate structures mimicking the morphology of GCN. Optical analyses indicated visible-light driven properties with modulated recombination resistance in the system. Among the synthesized bare and composite systems, NATP/GCN exhibited the highest photocatalytic degradation efficiency for the cationic rhodamine B dye (~ 93% in 120 min), while it was relatively less efficient for the anionic Congo red dye, (~ 64% in 120 min). The insights gained from the fundamental characterizations including Mott–Schottky, scavenger, and electrochemical impedance analysis revealed that the amino-groups in NATP/GCN composite offered the band edge potentials suitable for the effective generation of energetic radical species with the improved carrier delocalization, recombination resistance, and charge transfer properties in the composite system through Z-scheme formation. Parametric investigations by varying the concentration of catalyst, dye, and pH along with recycle studies, demonstrated the excellent stability of the developed composites for sustainable photocatalytic applications. Introduction: The absence of a barrier in an open root apex makes endodontic treatment challenging as root‐filling material can easily reach the surrounding tissue. The aim of the study was to compare the apical microleakage associated with mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA), biodentine, custom‐made gutta‐percha with MTA plus and custom‐made gutta‐percha with Adseal in immature permanent teeth by dye penetration method. Methods: Apical 2 mm of 60 single‐rooted mandibular premolar teeth was resected to create divergent open apices and 10 teeth each were filled with Biodentine plug, MTA plug, custom‐made gutta‐percha with MTA plus sealer and custom‐made gutta‐percha with Adseal sealer. Ten teeth each acted as positive and negative controls. All the samples were stored at 37°C at 100% humidity for 5 weeks and then immersed in 2% Rhodamine B dye for 24 h. Transverse sectioning was done apically at 1 mm and 3 mm to evaluate dye penetration under a fluorescence microscope using ImageJ software. Results: There was a significantly greater microleakage at 1 mm cross section compared to 3 mm (p < 0.0001). At 1 mm cross section, the apical microleakage was the highest for the MTA plug with a mean leakage percentage of 48.08 ± 16.38, a mean depth of leakage of 0.46 ± 0.10 mm and a mean area of leakage of 1.35 ± 0.74 mm2, compared to other groups, and the difference was statistically significant. However, at a 3 mm cross section, MTA plus sealer with gutta‐percha demonstrated the highest mean leakage percentage (25.01 ± 7.77) compared to other groups and the difference was statistically significant (p = 0.03). Conclusion: It can be concluded that the 3‐mm‐thick apical plug provided better sealing of the open apex compared to the 1 mm apical plug and there was no significant difference in microleakage among the Biodentine plug, MTA plug and Adseal sealer with gutta‐percha plug at 3 mm cross section. Building artificial carbon cycling systems for the direct conversion of wastewater into value‐added solar fuels using renewable solar energy can contribute to achieving carbon neutrality. Herein, a bifunctional photocatalyst comprising three‐dimensionally ordered Ti3C2Tx/TiO2 nanoflowers is exploited for tandem carbon cycling systems to achieve efficient organic wastewater treatment with simultaneous CO2 resourcing. The highest efficiency is achieved by using the optimal Ti3C2Tx/TiO2 photocatalyst to treat simulated wastewater containing rhodamine B (RhB), with an enhanced primary CO production rate of 10.02 µmol g−1 h−1 and RhB degradation efficiency of 77.6% after 1 h of illumination in an anoxic environment. The CO/H2 ratio of the produced syngas can be readily tuned from 0.95 to 1.86 by adjusting the Ti3C2Tx content. Mechanistic studies based on DFT, in situ DRIFTS, and LC‐MS2/IC reveal that the coupled photocatalytic RhB degradation and CO2 reduction processes collectively undertake *HCOO intermediate coverage. This phenomenon triggers the sustainable and simultaneous conversion of *CO2 and *HCOO into CO under mild conditions and crosses the key rate‐limiting step of CO2‐to‐CO conversion, thereby achieving overall carbon utilization from organic wastewater treatment. ABSTRACT In this work, we present a simple method for the pyrofabrication of a new kaolinite‐ silver oxide quantum dots nanocomposite (Kao‐Ag2O/QDs) that is used for the degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) and indigo carmine (IC) dyes. A homogenous combination of kaolinite and silver nitrate was sintered up to 350 °C to create the extremely effective photocatalyst (Kao‐Ag2O/QDs). Various analytical techniques were employed to characterize the Kao‐Ag2O/QDs photocatalyst such as XRD, FTIR, XPS, SEM–EDX, TEM, DTA/TGA, ZP, BET, and UV–Vis DRS. The degradation of RhB and IC dyes through the photocatalyst was carried out in aqueous solutions utilizing several pH dye solutions and sustainable solar energy in atmosphere conditions. The nanocomposite that was prepared had shown an enhanced specific surface area of 53.3005 m2/g, a pore size of 8.1197 nm, and a total pore volume of 0.216 cm3/g. It also displayed an optical band gap energy of 2.9 eV. The study creates that employing the ideal dose of 2000 and 1500 mg/L of the Kao‐Ag2O/QDs photocatalyst at neutral conditions (pH = 7) resulted a maximum degradation effectiveness of RhB and IC of 91.06 and 93.46% after 90 min, respectively. RhB and IC dyes degradation followed Langmuir first‐order kinetics with a rate constant of 0.0217 and 0.0216 min−1 at pH = 7, respectively. The photocatalytic degradation activity for RhB dye is based on hydroxyl radicals (˙OH) and superoxide radicals (˙O2−), while the mechanism of IC removal is based on superoxide radicals (˙O2−), as revealed by scavenger‐based radical trapping studies. A triple reusability study found that the Kao‐Ag2O photocatalyst is highly stable with degradation efficiencies of RhB and IC dyes from the initial 91.09 to 90.04, 88.54, and 86.27% and from the initial 93.46 to 92.8, 91.4 and 89.32%, respectively. A series of inorganic acid post-treated carbon nitride was synthesized to regulate the electronic structure, surface properties and then improve the photocatalytic activity. Carbon nitride displayed a thinner and smaller nanosheet structure after acid post-treatment, which could provide more exposed active sites and improve the charge carrier separation. The electronic band gap structure revealed that the phosphoric acid-treated sample (HP-CN) had a more positive valence band edge, endowing it with a higher oxidation ability. Furthermore, electron spin resonance (EPR) and transient photoinduced voltage (TPV) analyses demonstrated that the acid-treated carbon nitride had a higher electron–hole pair separation and transfer efficiency, thus boosting the photocatalytic performance. HP-CN possessed an optimal removal efficiency of 87.7% towards Reactive Brilliant Red X-3B (RBR X-3B), which was 1.62 times that of g-C3N4. Moreover, HP-CN showed an outstanding stability and satisfactory ability to remove RhB (rhodamine B) and TC (tetracycline), proving its potential application in environmental remediation. This paper presents the preparation of Al‐doped mixed transition metal ferrite (AlxCo0.7Mn0.3Fe2−xO4 where x=0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7 and 0.9) via a solution combustion method, followed by an application for the removal of dyes from aqueous solution. Various physicochemical techniques were employed to determine the morphological, structural, magnetic behaviour and adsorption characteristics of the synthesized ferrites by through Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), X‐ray powder Diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infra‐Red spectroscopy (FT‐IR), Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM), and Brunauer‐Emmett‐Teller (BET) analysis. Furthermore, the as‐synthesized ferrite materials were utilized for adsorbing dyes (Methylene blue (MB), Crystal violet (CV), Methyl orange (MO), and Congo red (CR)) from aqueous solutions, with the results reported using UV‐visible spectroscopy. In this study, hydroxyapatite‐gelatin (HAp‐Gel) composite using Ca precursor from cuttlefish bone (Sepia Sp.) has great potential to be used in hydroxyapatite synthesis. The HAp‐Gel composite was synthesized in‐situ by sol‐gel method with varying concentrations to see its ability to adsorb rhodamine b dye. XRF analysis results obtained a CaO content of 95.561 %. The 40 % HAp‐Gel composite showed the best adsorption capacity, with a percentage of 27.326 %, which experienced an increase in the percentage of hydroxyapatite adsorption capacity, namely 4.6881 %. FTIR results from 40 % HAp‐Gel composite obtained characteristic peaks of functional groups contained in hydroxyapatite and gelatin. XRD analysis showed the diffraction pattern of HAp by the ICSD standard spectrum (#157481), and the average size of the hydroxyapatite crystal was 9.72 nm. In comparison, the 40 % HAp‐Gel composite crystal was 5.25 nm. SEM‐EDS results showed that the composite morphology was agglomerated with irregular shapes and a Ca/P ratio 1.56. SAA results showed a composite surface area of 55.256 m2/g. The 40 % HAp‐Gel composite sorption application followed the Freudlich isotherm model with multilayer adsorption on the heterogeneous adsorbent surface. The interaction between rhodamine B and HAp‐Gel 40 % occurs at pseudo‐second‐order and can be reused up to two cycles when interacting with rhodamine B. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this article, we report the results of the photocatalytic effect of the cost effective grown SnSe nanoparticles (NPs), nanoflakes (NFs), nanoflowers (NFLs) on the toxic water contaminant dye of Rhodamine B (RhB) under visible light irradiation different duration time. The results showed that for the degradation of 99 %, 96 % and 94 % of the RhB have been occurred in presence of NFs, NFLs, NPs, respectively for the irradiation time of 30 min, 45 min, 65 min, respectively. Before photocatalytic test, the grown SnSe were characterised optically and structurally. The nanoparticles, nano flakes, nanoflowers morphology along with atomic composition of Sn and Se were observed from FESEM images and EDAX analysis. The direct band gap of the NPs, NFs, NFLs was calculated from UV‐VIS spectrum and found to be 1.89 eV, 1.78 eV, 1.7 eV, respectively. The crystal structure showed orthorhombic crystal phase with nanocrystal sizes varies from 22 nm to 31 nm. The Scavenger test in presence of the scavenging elements BQ, IPA, ethanol and EDTA have been discussed. The stability test showed that SnSe NFs is a good and stable catalysis for practical applications. The effect of the NFs, NPs, NFLs on red blood cell showed that all the tested SnSe nanostructures had <2 % hemolysis, suggesting their hemocompatible nature. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In order to improve the low specific surface area and high recombinant light generation carriers of BiOBr, loading BiOBr onto suitable Metal Organic Frameworks (MOFs) is an effective strategy to unleash its efficient visible light response and intrinsic catalytic activity. In this study, using classic MOF CAU‐17 as a precursor, using a straightforward co‐precipitation technique, four BiOBr/CAU‐17 composites with distinct MOF contents values BCAU‐1, BCAU‐2, BC, AU‐3, and BCAU‐4 were created, and their photo‐catalytic characteristics were examined. The BCAU‐2 composite exhibited much higher photo‐catalytic degradation efficiency for Rhodamine B (RhB) and Tetracycline (TC) than the pristine materials, counter compositions, and early reported materials. XRD, SEM, TEM, XPS, and EDX results revealed the strong synergistic photo‐catalytic effect of BiOBr and CAU‐17. The photocatalytic degradation of TC was significantly enhanced by the BiOBr bimetal modification, with the 2 wt.% BiOBr/CAU‐17 nanocomposite achieving an 87.2 % degradation of TC and 82 % Total Organic Carbon (TOC) removal within 60 min. The high photo‐degradation efficiency of BCAU‐2 composite should be attributed to the efficient transfer of photo‐generated carriers at interfaces and the synergistic effect between BiOBr/CAU‐17. Furthermore, the experiments on the capture of the active species proved that the main active free radicals involved in the degradation of RhB and TC are attributed to the photo‐induced holes h+ and ⋅ O2− under visible light. The catalyst's efficacy is corroborated by the outcomes of photoluminescence spectroscopy and photo current response. This study offers a new understanding for the design of green synthesis schemes for photo‐catalytic dye degradation and removal of certain antibiotics from the aquatic environment. Zeolite imidazole‐based framework (ZIF‐67), a notable class of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), shows promise in activating peroxymonosulfate (PMS) for pollutant degradation due to its uniformly distributed cobalt ions. However, its nanoparticle form and the elution of cobalt ions during use cause challenges in recycling and the risk of secondary pollution. In this study, a magnetic core‐shell hydrogen‐bonded organic framework (HOF) on the MOF (HOF‐on‐Fe3O4/ZIF‐67) is successfully prepared. The porous HOF shell not only protects the active sites and mitigates cobalt ion leaching but also reduces mass transfer limitations, ensuring sustained catalytic performance. The magnetic Fe3O4 core enhances electron transfer between cobalt ions, boosts catalytic efficiency, and facilitates easy separation and recycling. This core‐shell structure effectively activates PMS, achieving 100% removal of Rhodamine B, a model wastewater dye, within 10 min (Rh B = 50 mg L−1, HFZ = 150 mg L−1, PMS = 1.5 mm, pH = 7, room temperature). Furthermore, under the protection of the HOF shell, cobalt ion leaching is minimized to a negligible value (0.14 mg L−1) after 5 cycles of use. ABSTRACT BiOBr nanosheets were loaded onto SnO2 quantum dots, ZnO nanosheets, and SnO2/ZnO‐2 (SZ‐2) to form different heterojunction photocatalysts by sonochemistry, respectively. The photocatalytic activity of the prepared photocatalysts was evaluated by degrading the target dye Rhodamine B (RhB). The results showed that the degradation efficiency of BiOBr/SnO2/ZnO (BSZ) for RhB reached 97.5% at 80 min. The significant increase in catalytic activity of BSZ was attributed to the synergistic and interfacial effects among the three materials. Combined with the radical trapping experiments, it can be concluded that the catalytic mechanism of BSZ as a dual Z‐type heterojunction. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

ABSTRACT A highly selective fluorescent sensor Por‐RBO for determination of Hg2+ was designed and synthesized with Rhodamine B and Tetraphenylporphyrin. The sensor can determine the Hg2+ of a solution within the pH 5.0–8.0, free from interference of other metal ions. When detected in buffer solution, the fluorescence was the strongest when five times the concentration of Hg2+ ion was added. Calculated by fluorescence titration method, the detection limit of sensor Por‐RBO for Hg2+ ion was as low as 0.12 μmol/L. The geometries of Por‐RBO and Por‐RBO‐Hg2+ were optimized at the B3LYP/6‐31G** level by density functional theory. The charge distribution, orbital interactions, and bonding characteristics were analyzed and compared in detail to discuss the recognition mechanism and structure–fluorescence property relationships. The results of cell fluorescence imaging and CCK‐8 experiments indicate that the sensor Por‐RBO exhibits lower cytotoxicity. The field of environmental and water remediation faces a significant challenge in removing organic dyes from wastewater, particularly Rhodamine B (RhB), a stubborn dye used in various industries. Traditional treatment methods struggle with its resistance to decomposition, posing risks to water quality, human health, and aquatic life. This study demonstrates a novel approach to enhance photocatalytic efficiency for RhB degradation by constructing a MOF-5/g-C3N4 composite through a facile mechanical grinding method, which is unprecedented. The composite addresses the limitations of g-C3N4, such as rapid recombination of electron–hole pairs, low electron transfer rates, and small surface area, by forming a heterojunction with MOF-5. The composite exhibits enhanced photocatalytic efficiency for the degradation of RhB under sunlight, with a degradation of 91.5% achieved within 90 min. Optimization studies highlight the importance of pH and catalyst dosage in the degradation process. The reusability test shows consistent performance over five successive cycles, maintaining a degradation efficiency of over 90%. Total organic carbon (TOC) analyses confirm the mineralization of the dye solution to 82.05% after 90 min of irradiation, demonstrating the environmental benignity of the composite. Trapping experiments suggest the involvement of superoxide radicals, electrons, and holes in the photocatalytic mechanism. In this paper, cattle hair waste (CHW) was collected and physically milled into different meshes of ultrafine cattle hair powder (UCHP). The reuse of CHW reaches the purpose of treating pollution with waste by using bio-base adsorbent. It was characterized by using scanning electron microscope-energy dispersive spectrometer (SEM–EDS), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The adsorption studies were carried out under different conditions of temperature, time, pH, concentration of dye solution, mesh size, and dosage of cattle hair powder, respectively. The pseudo-first and pseudo-secondary kinetics and intra-particle diffusion models were employed to analyze the adsorption kinetic. The Langmuir, Freundlich, and Temkin adsorption isotherm was used to analyze the adsorption isotherm. The results showed that the adsorption capacity of UCHP for acidic metal complex (Trupoxane Brown R6) dyes increased with the decreasing pH solution. The adsorption capacity of 200 mesh UCHP was 379.5 mg.g−1 when the adsorption conditions were as follows: 100 mL dye solution with the initial concentration of 1000 mg·L−1, the dosage of adsorbent was 0.1 g, the pH was 3 for 12 h at 40 °C. The kinetic model fitting results showed that the adsorption of dyes by UCHP conformed to the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. Adsorption thermodynamics study showed that the Langmuir model has the highest fitting result. The amino group contained on the surface of cattle hair powder and the amide bond contained in the molecular chain of peptide chain have better electrostatic adsorption binding force for acid metal complex dyes, and the binding between them is mainly electrostatic attraction. In this study, natural asphalt was oxidized to synthesize a new nano-structure adsorbent for dye removal. The functionalization of natural asphalt by oxidation introduced new properties that influenced its activity. The process of oxidizing natural asphalt with potassium permanganate resulted in a low-cost adsorbent, which can potentially be a more affordable option compared with synthetic alternatives. Characterization analysis confirmed the enhanced surface area, improving dye interaction and adsorption. The interconnected channels and capillaries of the oxidized natural asphalt facilitated the capillary action drawing in liquids, including dyes. The distinctive porosity of natural asphalt oxide (NA-oxide) was noted, and the experimental results showed that the NA–oxide nanoadsorbent efficiently adsorbed cationic and anionic dyes in water, with maximum capacities of 14.68 mg.g−1, 17.81 mg.g−1 and 16.47 mg.g−1 for methyl orange, methylene blue and Rhodamine B, respectively. The study investigated various parameters, such as concentration, adsorption dose, pH, contact time, and temperature, affecting the dye removal process. Langmuir, Freundlich, and Temkin isotherms along with pseudo-first and pseudo-second-order kinetic equations were applied to assess the adsorption process, indicating that dyes adhered to the pseudo-first-order model and Langmuir isotherm. Analysis of MO, MB, and RhB dyes revealed conformity to Langmuir isotherm and first-order kinetics. Thermodynamic evaluations like ΔH°, ΔS°, and ∆G° displayed the exothermic and spontaneous nature of dye adsorption on the NA-oxide adsorbent. Furthermore, the absorbent displayed remarkable stability with a recovery rate of 98.45% after ten cycles, signifying its potential for enduring effectiveness in dye removal processes. Development of new multi‐ratiometric fluorescence probes has been a popular research field. This approach provides richer and more accurate information for the recognition of different substances which have similar chemical and physical properties. In this work, a ratiometric fluorescence sensor UIO‐66⊃FL/RhB is successfully constructed by incorporating fluorescein (FL) and rhodamine B (RhB) to the UIO‐66. With the addition of fluoroquinolones (FQs), the prepared UIO‐66⊃FL/RhB sensor can be used for the 2D emission‐fingerprint map, the linear discriminant analysis (LDA) and hierarchical clustering analysis (HCA) in recognition the presence of each FQs. The fluorescence probe offers a broad linear range (0‐8 µM) and a low detection limit (3.7 nM) in sensing ofloxacin. In addition, a smartphone‐assisted portable sensing platform and a portable UIO‐66⊃FL/RhB hydrogel test material are constructed successfully for screening before fluorescence detection. This study proposes a novel multi‐ratiometric fluorescence probe, which can recognize different FQs. Besides, the UIO‐66⊃FL/RhB‐based hydrogel beads are construction for screening before the detection of FQs, which established a promising strategy for the simple and accurate discrimination of FQs. A novel approach, i.e., Continuous Material Deposition on Filaments (CMDF), for the incorporation of active materials within 3D-printed structures is presented. It is based on passing a filament through a solution in which the active material is dissolved together with the polymer from which the filament is made. This enables the fabrication of a variety of functional 3D-printed objects by fused deposition modeling (FDM) using commercial filaments without post-treatment processes. This generic approach has been demonstrated in objects using three different types of materials, Rhodamine B, ZnO nanoparticles (NPs), and Ciprofloxacin (Cip). The functionality of these objects is demonstrated through strong antibacterial activity in ZnO NPs and the controlled release of the antibiotic Cip. CMDF does not alter the mechanical properties of FDM-printed structures, can be applied with any type of FDM printer, and is, therefore, expected to have applications in a wide variety of fields. Among the perovskite oxide community, La‐based perovskites have garnered considerable interest due to their remarkable properties including catalytic, electrocatalytic, photocatalytic, sensing, electrical, magnetic, and optical characteristics. Herein, rhodamine‐B (RB) dye has been reported to be sono‐catalytically decomposed by an ultrasound‐assisted advanced oxidation process (AOP) using perovskite‐type LaMnO3 (LMO) nanospheres synthesized via ultrasonic approach. Several physiochemical characterizations such as XRD, FT‐IR, XPS, SEM, TEM, and SEM‐EDS investigations were used to investigate the LMO perovskite nanospheres. Then, LMO potential for adsorption and the sonocatalytic decolorization of RB dye in an aqueous solution are examined. With LMO perovskites, the adsorption and removal kinetics of RB correspond to the pseudo‐first‐order model.
