The aim of this paper is to present the results of a survey on green roofs among potential real estate developers and users, concerning knowledge about, awareness of the benefits of, and interest in green roofs. The survey sample consisted of 151 persons – potential owner-builders from Poland. This is not a large number, but it is significant. The research sample was purposive and statistically insignificant, and the study was an initial part of a larger project. Greenery in urban settings positively affects human quality of life and health and contact with nature improves well-being and reduces stress. Roofs covered with greenery are also a sign of growing environmental awareness. In Poland, green roofs are usually a feature of public and commercial buildings. The low popularity of this solution in single-family housing has its source in potential owner-builders being unaware of the benefits of the roofs’ application, funding opportunities, and benefits in the form of a greater amount of biologically active surfaces. Currently, the technology of covering roofs with greenery is highly developed, and there are many experienced contractors who operate on the Polish market. However, there is a deficiency in knowledge about green roofs among real estate developers and prospective owner-builders, which constitutes a demand barrier. Many people are anxious about using a green roof out of fear of high construction costs and necessary greenery maintenance. This is due to misinformation, as it is possible to use an extensive, low-maintenance roof type. In the case of an intensive roof, the maintenance largely resembles that of a traditional domestic garden. The costs of creating a roof garden are higher than in the case of traditional roofing materials, but a smaller plot could be bought as a result, as a greater amount of biologically active surfaces can be obtained to meet zoning regulations. In Poland, there are currently no legal regulations that obligate or incentivise the use of green roofs. The popularity of this solution is growing, which gives hope for making cities greener. In an era of progressing climate change, building additional green spaces, including those on roofs, is a crucial remedy for the severe consequences of unsustainable urbanisation.

The process of constructing structures and the selection of technology is difficult due to a series of highly varied conditions - which are often difficult to foresee - associated with the construction of a building within a city centre. The goal of the article is the performance of a structural analysis of the most commonly occurring conditions that need to be considered in the context of the selection of a technology of constructing buildings in the centre of an urban agglomeration. Based on a literature study that had been performed, aswell as on a survey study performed on expects, the authors listed and characterised conditions that occur during the construction of structures in the centres of urban agglomerations. Afterwards, experts determined the impact of these factors and their mutual relations in the context of the selection of the technology of the construction of said structures. In order to determine the involvement and the role of the factors in the context of the selection of a technology of the construction of a structure, as well as its analysis, the authors used the WINGS (Weighted Influence Non-linear Gauge System) modelling and structural analysis method. This method takes into account both direct, as well as indirect relations between these factors. The study contained in the article constitutes a basis for the development of a comprehensive systemic approach supporting the decision-making process associated with the selection of a construction technology for a building to be built in the centre of an urban agglomeration.

Recently, there has been a growing number of construction projects that require more than one structure to be built - repetitive construction projects. These repetitive construction projects are characterized by a high degree of complexity both in terms of organisational and technological dependencies. A method is needed that will flexibly take into account the technological constraints that occur during the carrying out of repetitive construction projects. The article presents a method of priority scheduling that takes into account technological pauses that can prove useful in the planning of repetitive construction projects. The planner (usually a construction site manager) will be able to model the technological constraints occurring on the construction site in a more flexible way. The article also presents a calculation example in which the application of the developed model has been presented. The developed model proved to be effective in scheduling repetitive construction projects, taking into account technological constraints.

The present paper uses the developed model of the influence of partnering relations on the time, cost, quality and safety of implementation of construction projects. On its basis, a questionnaire has been created and a preliminary survey has been conducted. The paper presents an analysis of correlations between the level of partnering relations in the context of the partnering measures indicated in the model and their influence on the time, cost, quality and safety of implementation of construction projects. The analysis was conducted based on the data collected in 52 construction projects. The values of the Spearman rank correlation coefficient and the Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient have been calculated for the examined relations. The analysis allowed for indicating the measures of partnering whose improvement most often brings benefits with regard to the time, cost, quality and safety of implementation of construction projects. Among the 80 analysed correlations, the ones identified as strong were: 15 relations connected with the time, 8 with the cost, 5 with the quality and 1 with the safety of implementation of construction projects.

The directions of development of the construction market are not only related to the need to own one’s own home but also to increasing functional and economic requirements and conditions of sustainable development. The perception and understanding of prefabrication in housing construction are undoubtedly starting to change. Sustainable construction criteria may constitute a significant turning point and support for the development of new prefabricated housing construction technologies. Entrepreneurs are slowly perceiving an opportunity for the development of prefabrication in the construction market. The implementation and popularisation of ready-made homes will undoubtedly constitute a favourable change in the Polish construction market; however, this will require a modification of habits. This article presents an historical analysis of the development of the prefabricated housing construction market as well as an attempt to answer questions concerning the future of prefabrication in housing construction in Poland based on the conducted studies.

Roofing is an important element in the construction of the roof. It is also one of the essential elements of the whole building. The choice of roofing should depend on technical parameters that affect the quality of the materials used and the price. The present paper is a comparative analysis of the properties of five roofing materials selected as examples with respect to twelve parameters. As can be seen from the comparative analysis of the roofing parameters, roofing tile is by far the best material, receiving the highest score in the ranking

In this article, the authors present a proposal for a hybrid decision model in order to select a utility function for a historic building, taking into consideration the criteria of the Małopolska Certificate of Energy Efficient Building as well as additional criteria for the comfort of the users. The description of the criteria and the proposed decision-making model focus on the Stara Polana historical building, which is located in Zakopane.

The paper discusses problems in the carrying out of construction projects in large urban agglomerations on the example of two structures located in Krakow. The location and the specifics of the work that had to be performed generated numerous technological and organisational problems. The manner of solving them, in addition to propositions of guidelines for similar projects are discussed in the paper.

The paper focuses on the problem of the effective management of materials obtained from demolition in the scope of the revalorisation of historical structures. The conditions that influence the reclamation and reuse of materials were analysed. The entirety of the discussion was based on the practical example of the revalorisation of the Outer Courtyard of Wawel Castle, for which the importance of these conditions has been determined, as well as the relationships between them.

The paper presents an analysis of the profitability of investment in a selection of systems based on renewable energy sources on the example of a semi-detached house with a floor area of nearly 150 m2. The analysis was conducted in three variants:1) the application of a biomass boiler, solar collectors and photovoltaic panels; 2) a heat pump, solar collectors and photovoltaic panels; 3) a heat pump, solar collectors and a wind turbine. Next, the proposed solutions were compared with a traditional heating system featuring a gas-powered boiler and obtaining electricity through the power distribution grid. The investment and operational costs were calculated after the selection of the appropriate equipment. The example under analysis indicates that variant 3 entailed the highest investment costs (the purchase and fitting of a heat pump as well as the drilling required to install underground pumps). Traditional technical solutions were proven to produce the highest costs. The investment profitability analysis was conducted using both the simple and discounted methods of evaluating profitability. It was established that variant 3 yielded the shortest discounted payback period - less than 13 years. It is estimated that the investment will reach the break-even point after this time. As a summary, it must be noted that the profitability of a given investment depends on the adopted technical solutions. Due to high initials costs, investors often lack interest in the purchase and installation of renewable energy generation systems; however, the contribution of the investors can be lowered with the use of subsidies and price reductions regarding the installation of renewable energy generation systems. We can observe a decrease in the price of the most popular and efficient renewable energy systems.
