In this paper, an example of an intelligent security system based on deep learning approach has been analyzed and described. Security is an important element in many aspects of human life. Depending on customer requirements, different levels of security may be required and implemented. Nowadays, artificial intelligence is becoming an indispensable part in many areas of human life and accordingly security systems are also based on the new achievements in this field. In this paper, an intelligent security system based on two methods for identifying persons, gait recognition and face recognition, was described. The two methods mentioned above can be used to give persons access to different buildings, facilities, institutions, etc. or to different indoor or outdoor areas. In light of the above, the aforementioned system uses face and gait recognition to identify persons who should be granted access to a facility or a specific area within the facility. Accordingly, two deep learning models for gait and face recognition have been developed and described. The analysis, the settings defined and the results obtained in relation to the models developed were also described. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper, a deep learning based approach for frontal gait recognition was investigated and presented. In today’s world, gait recognition is an interesting way for person identification. Person identification is required in various fields of human life and many different methods are used. Some of them are fingerprint, methods based on different elements of the human eye such as the retina or iris, face recognition, speech or voice recognition, gait recognition, etc. It is important to note that some of them, such as gait or face recognition, are suitable for identification at a greater distance and without interaction with a device to capture the different features on which they are based. Gait recognition is a method that uses the manner of human gait for identification. In recent years, many approaches to gait recognition have been developed and presented. In this work, a deep learning approach was developed based on a deep learning model and a gait recognition method called Gait Energy Image (GEI). The experiment was performed using the well–known Casia Dataset B and the results were presented. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

IDENTIFICATION , *GAIT in humans - Abstract
In this paper, we present an example of solution for obtaining some key elements required for people identification or re-identification. During an identification or re-identification process, different elements are in use. Depending on the method to be implemented, said elements can be RGB (red, green, blue) images, grayscale images, different types of features extracted from them, etc. In this work, we focused on obtaining certain elements suitable for use in the gait recognition methods or re-identification methods that use the obtained features from the images with people in gait. The presented solution can be useful in many applications of identification or re-identification, since key elements required by the implemented methods can be obtained in a simple way. Also, different methods for identification or re-identification can be added in the presented solution. Based on this, we have developed a simple system for people re-identification. An experiment was conducted on our own dataset containing 13 people in gait. The results obtained were over 90% for 4 out of 5 types of features used in the presented re-identification system. It is important to emphasize that more reliable results can be obtained by combining different types of features. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

GAIT in humans , *HUMAN fingerprints , *HUMAN body - Abstract
In this paper, an analysis was performed in the context of gait recognition. Gait recognition is an approach for people identification based on the gait characteristics of a person. Gait recognition methods essentially belong to the behavioral biometric methods. While walking, each person creates different patterns that may be used for the purpose of identification. For this reason, many gait recognition methods have been presented in recent years that use gait in different ways for the purpose of identification. Some of the presented methods were based on the silhouettes of a person, while others used different models based, for example, on different measurements of the human body. Following the above, the approach of gait recognition was analyzed, focusing on some important aspects of this type of identification. In addition, the use of a Deep Neural Network (DNN) for gait recognition was investigated. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

U ovoj doktorskoj disertaciji razmotren je problem identifikacije osoba upotrebom RGB-dubinske (engl. Red, Green, Blue - Depth, RGB-D) kamere. RGB (engl. Template) spremljenih u bazi osoba (engl. Gallery), a s ciljem određivanja specifične osobe. Gait Energy Image, GEI) i popunjena slika energije hoda (engl. Backfilled Gait Energy Image, BGEI)., In this dissertation, the problem of person identification with an RGB-Depth (Red, Green, Blue - Depth, RGB-D) camera was considered. An RGB camera is a device that can capture color images (RGB images). An RGB-D camera, on the other hand, is a device that provides depth images in addition to color images. A depth image (also called a depth map) is an image in which a value is encoded in each pixel that represents the distance of an object from the camera. The main motivation was to implement a person identification approach that can be used in service robotics, but also in other areas such as security systems. A service robot is a type of robot that operates semi- or fully autonomously to perform specific tasks. Technological advancements offer many opportunities for service robots to work alongside humans in an environment. In the future, service robots will be able to help people in their homes, hospitals, offices, or other locations. A service robot often needs to not only detect the presence of a person, but also be able to determine the identity of the person it is interacting with in order to efficiently perform a specific task assigned to it. For this purpose, service robots can be equipped with and use different types of sensors and cameras. New generation service robots are usually equipped with RGB-D cameras. In this dissertation, the term person identification refers to the process of matching the features extracted from the robot’s camera input data related to the detected person with the features stored in the database (Templates). The database is referred to as the gallery. A template in the gallery contains a set of features (e.g., facial features or gait features) related to a particular person. In addition to a set of features, each person may be accompanied by additional information such as first name, last name, function, title, etc. The above additional information may be important in some applications, as the robot may address the person by first or last name, for example. The templates are stored in the gallery in a process called enrollment, and in this context represent the identity of a person. In the past, RGB cameras were typically used in this area, but today RGB-D cameras are widely used and also provide depth images, so they are increasingly used in this area instead of RGB cameras. The advantage of using depth images is the ability to obtain certain features that can only be obtained by using depth images. For example, one such feature is the height of a person. In this dissertation, existing methods for person identification using RGB cameras as well as newer methods based on RGB-D cameras have been investigated. The scientific contribution of this dissertation is a proposal for two new methods using RGB-D camera for person identification based on gait. The advantage of the methods for gait identification is that they do not require any interaction with the person to be identified. This distinguishes them from many other methods, e.g. fingerprint, identification based on eye features (iris or retina), etc. The newly proposed methods for person identification combine features that can be obtained from RGB or depth images (silhouettes of a person) and a feature that can only be obtained from depth images (height of a person). In the experimental study, the proposed methods were validated and the results are presented. For the study, three datasets of images and videos of people were used for gait recognition. These are two publicly available datasets that are commonly used by other authors and are well-known in the research community, and a new user-defined dataset. The new dataset contains high-resolution videos of 14 people walking and was created using an RGB-D camera that has a range of up to 20 m and is suitable for outdoor environments. The results show that the proposed methods achieve better results than classical appearance-based gait recognition methods such as Gait Energy Image (GEI) and Backfilled Gait Energy Image (BGEI).

In this work, different deep learning approaches based on deep neural networks for person re-identification were analyzed. Both identification and re-identification of people are frequently required in various fields of human life. Some of the most common applications are in various security systems where it is necessary to identify and track a particular person. In the case of person identification, the identity of a particular person needs to be established. In the case of re-identification, the main task is to match the identity of a particular person across different, non-overlapping cameras or even with the same camera at different times. In this work, three different deep neural networks were used for the purpose of person re-identification. Two of them were user-defined, while one of them is a pre-trained neural network adapted to work with a specific dataset. Two neural networks used were Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN). For the defined experiment, it was used own dataset with 13 subjects in gait. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

TEM Journal; Vol 8, No 1, 2019. ISSN 2217-8309, This paper proposes and presents one approach for people identification based on image and additional physical parameters, height and step length, of a person comparison. People identification is very important in many areas of human life. There are large number of identification methods (biometric methods) that include a different scope of methods, for example fingerprint identification, hand geometry identification, facial recognition, methods based on human eye identification (retina and iris), gait recognition etc. Most of that methods require some kind of interaction with a person, what could be a problem in many practical applications. The method that does not require any interaction with a person is gait recognition. One approach for a people identification based on gait recognition, that uses silhouettes of a person and parameters of person height and step length, is proposed and presented in this paper.

This paper proposes and presents one way for people recognition from video streams. People recognition can be realized using various biometric features, behavioral or physiological, and methods based on that features. This work proposes and describes an algorithm for people recognition from video streams that is composed of two modules, module for dataset creation and module for recognition. Module for dataset creation involves creation of various types of person images and parameters. Module for recognition includes multiple comparisons of the images and different parameters comparison. These parameters are average height and average step length of a person during a gait cycle. For experimental purposes, a dataset for 15 persons in gait is created using a long-range stereo camera in outdoor environment. The algorithm has high accuracy in people recognition and easily can be upgraded with additional steps and modules, so it is suitable for use in various applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
