Abstract: Titanium co-doped ZnO/Zn2SiO4:Mn2+ (TZZM) composite phosphor was prepared by the high temperature solid state reaction method. The structural and optical properties of the as-prepared samples were analysed by means of the technique of X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and Photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy techniques. XRD analysis confirms the formation of ZnO/Zn2SiO4 composite system. The strain acting on the system was estimated using Williams–Hall plot. SEM recordings showed a distribution of ZnO and Zn2SiO4 particles of sizes ~1–5µm. The luminescence properties are studied using 266nm and 355nm laser excitation. Results demonstrate the ability to tune the emission colour coordinates and the correlated colour temperature (CCT). This phosphor can be potentially used for optical display applications. Abstract: In this communication, we have studied the preparation, optical absorption, and visible upconversion characteristics of this ion on excitation with green (532nm) and red (797nm) laser excitation sources in lead tellurite glass samples. Radiative parameters of various transitions/levels were calculated by applying Judd–Ofelt (J–O) theory. Upconversion measurement shows the generation of UV and blue upconversion emissions at 361, 386, 415 and 451nm wavelengths using 532nm excitation. In the same way by using 797nm excitation intense upconversion emissions extended from blue to red regions in Nd3+ doped lead tellurite glass. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
