Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP) is very rare, autonomic, inflammatory disease that results in increased pain of the muscle and fascia, with fibrosis and calcification. This is the case of sixteen years old boy, who was hospitalized with lockjaw. He was unable to open his mouth, so he was experiencing difficulties with food intake as well as constant severe toothache, patient could not open it to take food and his biggest difficulty was a toothache. He had a medical report from another clinic with suspected diagnosis of Noonan syndrome. (Syndrome Noonan suspect.) During his hospitalization, preoperatively, the consultation with pediatrics from Pediatric Clinic of University of Sarajevo was obtained. Upon completion of all the test result, we have agreed that the diagnosis was: Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progessiva. This patient was discharged with a recommendation for palliative care and close follows ups with a gastroenterologist. Unfortunately, because of his underlying condition, and potential risks with general anesthesia, he did not present a surgical candidate. The patient was taken back to his home on palliative care himself, with recommendation to contact gastroenterologist. This paper referred to malignant tumours of lips. The objectives of this study were to present distribution of malignant diseases of lips according to patients' gender and age, localization of tumour, pathological analysis and to present a five-year survival analysis on these patients, as well as to assess the importance of early diagnosis and medical treatment. A ten-year retrospective clinical and observational follow-up study of patients treated at Clinic for Maxillofacial Surgery, Clinical Centre University of Sarajevo for malignant tumours of lips, in period from January 1998 to December 2007, was performed. Total of 1,271 patients were admitted for treatment, of which 139 patients had tumour of lips. Results showed that at our Clinic we treated more male patients with malignant lips tumours than female ones (gender ratio 2.3 men to 1 woman); mostly older patients, with almost half of them being at age 60 years or more. Regarding histopathology, tumours were predominantly squamous cell carcinoma type. Life-table analysis showed a five-year survival rate of 71.23%. Nevertheless, this study should be seen as the pilot study. One with similar methodology but more extensive - regarding number of patients, including more detailed anamnestic data and longer follow-up period - should be conducted, in order to clarify correlation of all demographic and risk factors, treatment data and exact survival times and rates. Education is a process of accepting knowledge and skills or manners modification throught training. One of the most important characteristics in surgery education are classical education program through adequate literature and observation in operation room. Lip and palate clefts are relative rare diseases and classical knowledge acquirement of surgery methods in this field is sometimes defficient. Progress in computer technologies have potential and capacity to improve continuate and self-education training. We used this advancement in additional education in field of lip and palate clefts surgery, thanks to our partnership relations with Smile Train International Organisation. Accent of our cooperation was put in straight of new technology of virtual surgery--The Smile Train Virtual Surgery Videos.
