Abstract Background Relatives of patients with mental illnesses such as schizophrenia and depression experience significant levels of anxiety. Accurately predicting their anxiety levels is crucial for the development of effective anti-anxiety interventions aimed at mitigating associated adverse outcomes. Methods In this cross-sectional study, 238 relatives of patients with mental illness were recruited, and their responses were collected using the generalised anxiety disorder-7 (GAD-7) and simplified coping style questionnaire (SCSQ) scales. One-way analysis of variance and t-test were used to assess the mean scores of GAD-7 and SCSQ among relatives with varying characteristics. Pearson’s correlations were used to examine the correlation between anxiety levels and coping style. Multi-level regression analyses were used to identify the impact of the independent variables on anxiety. Results Among all relatives of patients with mental illness who participated in this survey, 238 completed the questionnaire. Abstract Background In recent years, there has been a significant decrease in the desire to have children among Chinese women of childbearing age, particularly for the first child. This trend has sparked a growing interest in understanding the underlying factors. Although perceived stress has been speculated as an important factor in decreasing fertility intention, the precise mechanism is unclear. The current study, therefore, aims to investigate the psychological mechanisms linking perceived stress to fertility intentions among women of childbearing age without children, a topic of significant relevance and importance. Methods Data were sourced from Chinese residents' psychology and behavior investigation (PBICR-2022). A multistage random sampling method was applied to recruit eligible participants. The Mplus8.3 software constructed a chain path model among the variables. Results The median fertility intention was 30(3–60) on a scale of 0 to 100. Summary: Purpose: To identify the relationship between emotional intelligence, occupational well-being, and work engagement among Chinese clinical nurses. Methods: This cross-sectional study is based on survey responses provided by 1744 registered nurses from a Chinese hospital. The survey utilized emotional intelligence, occupational well-being, and work engagement scales. Results: A questionnaire was distributed to nurses, and among them, 1744 filled it in. Work engagement was related to demographic characteristics. The nurses' work engagement score was 28.99±5.46. Work engagement was positively correlated with emotional intelligence (r=.94, p < .01) and occupational well-being (r=.96, p < .01). Conclusions: The current work engagement of nurses in China is at a medium level. It is influenced by emotional intelligence and occupational well-being.

Botrytis cinerea is one of the main pathogens that harm the tomato yield and cause huge economic losses worldwide. Studies of circRNAs in response to the stress caused by pathogens have received more and more attention in tomato and other model crops. In this study, four groups were treated with ZaoFen (ZF), CuiLi (CL) (susceptible and tolerant genotypes to B. cinerea, respectively), ZFBc, CLBc (48 hour response to a B. cinerea infection). A total of 918 circRNAs were identified, among which exonic circRNAs (70.70%) accounted for the majority of them, and 118 circRNAs (12.85%) were located in chr1. A total of 18 (1.96%) circRNAs were shared among the four libraries. A total of 6 circRNAs showed fold changes in the differential expression analysis between the time and cultivar control groups, and circRNA115, circRNA145 and circRNA223 repeatedly appeared in the different control treatments. Notably, the gene targeted by circRNA115 was an ethylene-forming enzyme. At the same time, we predicted the target genes of the six circRNAs obtained in the study, and a total of 319 miRNAs were predicted. This study contributes to the mechanism in response to B. cinerea stress in the tomato, and paves the way for the further study of circRNAs under tomato pathogen stress.

Abstract Social defeat stress is associated with endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, inflammation and apoptosis. ER stress is thought to contribute to many lifestyle diseases such as liver injury, cardiovascular dysfunction and depression. We investigated the expression of the ER stress markers RNA-dependent protein kinase-like ER kinase (PERK), eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2α (eIF2α) and C/EBP homologous protein (CHOP), as well as inflammatory and apoptotic factors, to assess how social defeat stress induces liver injury. Furthermore, we evaluated the effects of the ER stress inhibitor phenylbutyric acid (PBA) and ER stress inducer thapsigargin (TG) on liver injury. Adult mice were divided into the control, social defeat, social defeat + PBA, TG, PBA and TG + PBA groups. The social defeat and social defeat + PBA groups were simultaneously exposed to social defeat stress for 10 days. The social defeat + PBA, TG, PBA and TG + PBA groups were treated with PBA or TG via intraperitoneal injections. PBA was injected 1 h before the TG injection into the TG + PBA group. Liver samples from six groups of mice were analyzed by histological analysis and western blotting. Social defeat stress promoted ER stress, increased the expression of inflammatory factors and induced apoptosis in the liver of socially defeated mice, which was reversed by PBA. Moreover, ER stress induces TG-induced liver injury by initiating ER stress. Social defeat stress initiates ER stress, promotes the expression of inflammatory and apoptotic factors, and induces liver injury. PBA suppresses liver injury caused by social defeat stress and TG treatment.

Abstract There has been no consensus yet regarding the precise initial timing and duration of the late Mesozoic extensional tectonics in the South‐eastern China Block. This work focusses on the growth strata of the Early Cretaceous red beds in the South‐eastern China Block to determine the late Mesozoic tectonics and the precise timing of the initiation and duration of extensional tectonics in this area. Field observation of several terrigenous basins shows that the dip angles of the Cretaceous red beds have varied from moderate to gentle from basin edges to interiors (or centres). The visible and estimated thickness within a single bed increases slightly downwards from the upper to the lower part. These characteristics indicate that the sedimentary area of these beds has undergone an extensional process with expansion and deepening of the sedimentary basins. Rotation of the border surfaces (limbs) and downward warping of the hanging walls or retreat of the footwalls of listric normal faults causes three types of extensional growth (or syntectonic) strata in the deposits of different basins. Dating of the volcanic rocks related to the growth beds reveals that the sedimentary basins were enlarged and deepened when the Early Cretaceous strata were deposited in the South‐eastern China Block from ca 140 to 137 Ma. Regionally, under the influence of Palaeo‐Pacific plate rollback since ca 140 Ma, the South‐eastern China Block stress field has led to lithospheric uplift and pull‐apart structures near the surface, causing the half‐graben basins to receive sedimentation. Although the extensional event was interrupted by a short compressional event during 120 to 105 Ma, with the oceanward retreat of the trench, the area of extension gradually enlarged and rejuvenated south‐eastwards until the end of the Cretaceous. This Cretaceous extension event of the South‐eastern China Block must belong to a worldwide geological event with global significance.

Abstract Using 22‐year ground observations on meteorological variables, we conducted a statistical analysis to reveal fog characteristics at Shanghai Pudong International Airport (SPIA). Fog events were classified by fog types using an objective method. Two types of advection fogs are dominant in fog events at SPIA, followed by radiation fogs. Different fogs have evident annual and monthly variations in frequency. Advection fog mostly appear from February to April, while radiation fog is mainly between November and February. Six synoptic patterns associated with fogs were determine by a self‐organizing maps cluster method, two of which, namely ‘west of marine high pressure’ and ‘inverted trough’, are most favourable for the formation of advection fogs, whereas ‘bottom of weak cold high‐pressure’ is favourable for radiation fogs. The frequency of advection fog occurrence exhibits temporal fluctuations with distinct peaks occurring 2–3 h after sunset, around midnight, and 1–2 h before sunrise, while almost all radiation fog occur in the second half of the night, and favourable conditions for fog onset become more effective with the length of the night. Radiation fog exhibits a longer duration than advection fog and tends to result in lower visibility. The prevalent wind direction for the formation of advection fog is generally from the east to the southeast, whereas radiation fog is typically associated with westerly winds. The temperature and air pressure during the formation of both advection and radiation fogs follow a normal distribution in most seasons. More fog characteristics were categorized by fog types and seasons.

Abstract Objectives To investigate the role of Brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in the psychotic symptoms in first‐episode patients with schizophrenia and whether BDNF levels were associated with the improvement of psychotic symptoms after risperidone treatment. Methods 89 schizophrenia patients and 90 healthy controls were recruited, the schizophrenia patients were assigned into early response or early non‐response groups at 2 weeks based on improvement in the positive and negative symptoms scale (PANSS) total score. All patients were treated with risperidone for 2 weeks, their serum BDNF levels were compared at baseline and after 2 weeks treatment. Results We found that patients had lower BDNF levels, compared to controls at baseline. After 2 weeks of treatment of risperidone, BDNF levels were significantly increased and psychotic symptoms were decreased in early response group. Correlation analysis showed that the change of BDNF levels after treatment was correlated with the change of PANSS total score. Further regression analysis showed that the change in BDNF levels was an independent predictor for the improvement in psychotic symptoms. Conclusions Our findings reveal that the level of BDNF was lower in first‐episode schizophrenic patients, moreover, the changes in serum BDNF levels may have a predictive effect on the early improvement in psychotic symptoms in the first 2 weeks.

Objectives. To investigate the effect of 2% hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) and bandage contact lens (BCL) on dry eye disease after cataract surgery. Methods. This prospective randomized controlled trial included 63 eyes which were divided into the balanced salt solution (BSS), HPMC, BCL, and combined HPMC and BCL (H&B) groups. The Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI), tear meniscus height (TMH), and average tear break-up time were measured before cataract surgery and 30 days postoperatively. Differences in corneal nerve fiber (CNF) and dendritic cell (DC) density in various directions were evaluated and compared. The CNFs and DCs in central and infratemporal directions were observed using in vivo confocal microscopy. Data were evaluated using the Kruskal–Wallis rank-sum test and analysis of variance. Results. Abstract Background Metastasis is the leading cause of mortality in patients with breast cancer (BC). Studies demonstrate that circular RNAs (circRNAs) were involved in BC progression, while the molecular mechanisms remain largely unclear. Methods The microArray circRNA profiles were used to explore the differential expression circRNAs in BC and paracancerous normal tissues, and the quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction was used to validate their expression level in clinical samples and cell lines. Nuclear/cytosolic fractionation and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) assays were performed to examine circRRM2 (hsa_circ_0052582) subcellular location. The scratch wound healing and transwell assays were conducted to evaluate the impact of circRRM2 on BC cell migration and invasion. We predicted miRNAs that might bind with cricRRM2 and the downstream target genes using bioinformatics analysis and explored their expression levels and prognostic value in BC. FISH, RNA immunoprecipitation, Co-immunoprecipitation, Western blot, and rescue experiments were implemented to figure out circRRM2 function and underlying mechanisms in BC. Results The present study revealed several aberrant circRNAs in BC tissues and observed that circRRM2 was upregulated in tumor tissues of 40 patients with BC. High circRRM2 was significantly associated with advanced N stage in patients with BC. Gain- and loss- of function experiments revealed that circRRM2 promoted the migration and invasion of cells and functioned as an oncogene in BC. Mechanism studies showed that circRRM2 competed with miR-31-5p/miR-27b-3p to upregulate the IGF2BP1 expression. Furthermore, IGF2BP1 upregulated the circRRM2 level via interacting with MYC, which functioned as the transcriptional factor of circRRM2. Thus, the positive feedback loop that was composed of circRRM2/IGF2BP1/MYC was identified. Conclusion This study confirms that upregulated circRRM2 functions an oncogenic role in BC metastasis. The positive feedback loop of circRRM2/IGF2BP1/MYC enforces the circRRM2 expression, which might offer a potential target for BC treatment.

The extensometer of Xuzhou seismic station is mainly disturbed by rainfall and atmospheric pressure. The influence of rainfall and atmospheric pressure on extensometer is quantitatively analyzed. The results show that the response of EW component rainfall is more sensitive. The main reason for the rapid acceleration of observation data in a short time is that the sensor core is not centered in the differential voltage transformer sensor. The induced area of the biased sensor core in the differential voltage transformer sensor increases greatly, leading to an increase of the induced voltage in the observation.

Abstract We evaluated how different degrees of air pollution affect the ocular surface of a cohort of human subjects in Beijing by correlating in-patient test outcomes with tear cytokines. A cross-sectional study involving 221 volunteers was carried out in different districts of Beijing. Air pollution indices were recorded for 7 d (including the visit day). The indices recorded were the air quality index (AQI), which is a dimensionless measure that quantitatively describes the state of air quality, concentrations of particulate matter smaller than 2.5 μm (PM2.5) and 10 μm (PM10), sulfur dioxide (SO2), ozone (O3), and nitrogen dioxide (NO2). The Ocular Symptom Disease Index (OSDI) questionnaire provided. Subsequently, subjects underwent slit-lamp examination, which included meibomian gland examination, conjunctival congestion score, conjunctivochalasis grade, tear meniscus height (TMH), tear breakup time (TBUT), corneal fluorescein staining (CFS), Schirmer I test, and conjunctival impression cytology. The concentrations of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), interleukins (IL)-1β, IL-6 and IL-8 in tears were measured by microsphere-based immunoassay analysis. According to the value of the AQI, participants are divided into a slightly polluted (SP) group (n = 103) which the AQI value is less than or equal to 100 and a heavily polluted (HP) group (n = 118) whose AQI value is more than 100. Air pollution is related to ocular discomfort based on tear cytokine concentrations. PM2.5, PM10 and NO2 were positively correlated with OSDI, MG expressibility, meibum score, meiboscore, conjunctival congestion score, Schirmer I test value, TMH, goblet-cell density, concentrations of IL-6, and VEGF were negatively correlated with TBUT. PM2.5 and PM10 appear to be the major risk factors to the ocular surface, with NO2 being another important risk factor based on this study. The symptoms and signs of eye discomfort in the SP group were significantly less severe than those in the HP group, and tear cytokine concentrations (IL-6 and VEGF) were lower. Air pollution degrees were significantly correlated with tear cytokine concentrations, indicating an alteration of cytokine balance at the ocular surface under different degrees of air pollution.

IntroductionAnxiety not only harms employees’ work efficiency and satisfaction but also presents as a hazard to their mental health. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of anxiety among Chinese employees, identify their personality profiles and explore the anxiety-related factors in different personality profiles.MethodsThis national investigation adopted the multistage random sampling method to recruit employees. A total of 3,875 employees were enrolled in this study, and 39.1% (1,515/3,875) of them were experiencing anxiety at the time of the study. Latent profile analysis (LPA) was conducted to identify personality subgroups among Chinese employees based on their BFI-10 scores.ResultsLPA identified a three-profile solution among Chinese employees: average, resilient, and introverted. Employees in the resilient profile had the lowest anxiety rate (16.1%, 132/822), and those in the average profile had the highest rate (46.8%, 1,166/2,494). Multivariate analysis results showed that for all personality profiles, self-efficacy was positively associated with anxiety, and work-family conflict was negatively associated with anxiety. High levels of perceived social support and self-efficacy reduced the risk of anxiety and higher work-family conflict and no partner increased the odds of anxiety in the average profile. For the introverted profile, female gender, and living in a city increased the chances of suffering from anxiety.DiscussionThis study identified that each personality profile of Chinese employees had its own set of factors associated with anxiety, which could facilitate employers to provide targeted interventions to alleviate employees’ anxiety.

Heterojunction photodetectors based on 2D materials are a promising geometry to acquire broadband photodetection with combination of wide-bandgap and narrow bandgap functional materials. But the interface condition of the heterojunction is difficult to control due to the inevitable introduction of air bubbles and wrinkles. In this paper, a synthesis method merging exfoliation and CVD is reported to fabricate photodetectors of the GaSe/PtSe2 heterojunction. The devices present the highest responsivity and detectivity of about 1.7 A/W and 3.51 × 1012 Jones at a −10 V bias under the avalanche mode, respectively. Also, a fast response time could be obtained around 20 μs. In addition, the photodetector exhibits a clear photovoltaic effect, which can work in a self-powered mode.

Objective Demoralisation is a common psychological issue in patients with cancer and aggravates depression, reduces the quality of life and even causes suicidal ideation. There is a lack of knowledge about illness uncertainty, coping style and demoralisation in patients with breast cancer. Abstract We aim to assess the effects of different air pollutants on meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD). As a prospective multicenter study, 864 patients were recruited from four different regions (i.e., coal, oil, steel, and living). The oil region had a significantly lower temperature and higher O3 and SO2 concentrations than other regions. Notably, participants in oil region presented with more frequent and serious MGD signs and higher cytokine levels (median interleukin 6 [IL-6] in oil: 2.66, steel: 0.96, coal: 0.38, living: 0.56; IL-8 in oil: 117.52, steel: 46.94, coal: 26.89, living: 33; vascular endothelial growth factor [VEGF] in oil: 25.09, steel: 14.02, coal: 14.02, living: 28.47). The short-term fluctuations of cytokine levels were associated with the changes in gas levels (PM2.5 and IL-8: β = 0.016 [0.004–0.029]; O3 and IL-6: β = 0.576 [0.386–0.702]; O3 and IL-8: β = 0.479 [0.369–0.890]; SO2 and VEGF: β = 0.021 [0.001–0.047]). After long-term exposure, lid margin neovascularization (r = 0.402), meibomian gland (MG) expression (r = 0.377), MG secretion (r = 0.303), MG loss (r = 0.404), and tear meniscus height (r = − 0.345) were moderately correlated with air quality index (AQI). Individuals in oil region had more serious MGD signs and higher cytokine levels. MGD is susceptible to long-term exposure to high AQI.

AIM: To observe the efficacy of simplified one-step thermokeratoplasty for the treatment of severe acute corneal hydrops in keratoconus. METHODS: In this retrospective, noncomparative clinical study, 10 patients (10 eyes) with acute hydrops in keratoconus were treated with simplified one-step thermokeratoplasty. Pain, changes in the corneal curvature, thickness, and size and morphology of the Descemet membrane breaks were detected before and after surgery. Eight patients were successfully treated using modified deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty (DALK). Graft transparency, visual acuity, and immunological rejection were evaluated for 6 to 12mo. RESULTS: Pain and corneal oedema were promptly alleviated, and the intrastromal ruptures diminished within 3 to 6wk after thermokeratoplasty. At 3 to 6wk after corneal oedema was faded, Descemet membrane breaks and intrastromal ruptures were healed. Two patients did not undergo subsequent corneal transplantation after thermokeratoplasty. Eight patients underwent DALK successfully and safely after thermokeratoplasty, without corneal perforation. Central corneal opacity faded or disappeared within 6mo. The mean best-corrected visual acuity was increased to 20/30 at 12 mo after DALK. No one was observed with any immune rejection. CONCLUSION: One-step thermokeratoplasty can successfully and efficiently accelerate the absorption of prominent corneal oedema in severe acute hydrops patients. This simple procedure with no complications can be performed in the emergency department by residents. This method can improve the safety of DALK and obtain good postoperative vision. Long-term management of acute corneal hydrops using simplified one-step thermokeratoplasty seems promising.

Aims: This study aimed to construct a standardized health risk assessment index system (HRAIS) under the guidance of general health and facilitate the family doctors to carry out chronic disease management. Methods: Available chronic disease surveillance systems and indexes were reviewed to identify potential indexes. The Delphi method was performed to establish the HRAIS, and the analytic hierarchy process was used to calculate the index weight. Results: HRAIS included four first-level indexes and 38 second-level indexes. The authority coefficient was 0.86. The Kendall's W for the two rounds of Delphi consultation were 0.202 and 0.210 (p < 0.001). The weights of the first-level indexes from high to low were physiological health (0.409), psychosocial health (0.290), health-related behaviors (0.205), and environment (0.097). Thus, HRAIS is a multi-dimension and multi-index tool, which can be used as a guideline for family doctors in early screening, early intervention, and classified management of main chronic diseases.

Abstract Background The underlying circular RNAs (circRNAs)-related competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) mechanisms of pathogenesis and prognosis in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remain unclear. Methods Differentially expressed circRNAs (DECs) in two Gene Expression Omnibus datasets (GSE101684 and GSE112214) were identified by utilizing R package (Limma). Circinteractome and StarBase databases were used to predict circRNA associated-miRNAs and mRNAs, respectively. Then, protein–protein interaction (PPI) network of hub genes and ceRNA network were constructed by STRING and Cytoscape. Also, analyses of functional enrichment, genomic mutation and diagnostic ROC were performed. TIMER database was used to analyze the association between immune infiltration and target genes. Kaplan–Meier analysis, cox regression and the nomogram prediction model were used to evaluate the prognostic value of target genes. Finally, the expression of potential circRNAs and target genes was validated in cell lines and tissues by quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) and Human Protein Atlas (HPA) database. Results In this study, 15 DECs were identified between NSCLC tissues and adjacent-normal tissues in two GEO datasets. Following the qRT-PCR corroboration, 7 DECs (hsa_circ_0002017, hsa_circ_0069244, hsa_circ_026337, hsa_circ_0002346, hsa_circ_0007386, hsa_circ_0008234, hsa_circ_0006857) were dramatically downregulated in A549 and SK-MES-1 compared with HFL-1 cells. Then, 12 circRNA-sponged miRNAs were screened by Circinteractome and StarBase, especially, hsa-miR-767-3p and hsa-miR-767-5p were significantly up-regulated and relevant to the prognosis. Utilizing the miRDB and Cytoscape, 12 miRNA-target genes were found. Functional enrichment, genomic mutation and diagnostic analyses were also performed. Among them, FNBP1, AKT3, HERC1, COL4A1, TOLLIP, ARRB1, FZD4 and PIK3R1 were related to the immune infiltration via TIMER database. The expression of ARRB1, FNBP1, FZD4, and HERC1 was correlated with poor overall survival (OS) in NSCLC patients by cox regression and nomogram. Furthermore, the hub-mRNAs were validated in cell lines and tissues. Conclusion We constructed the circRNA-miRNA-mRNA network that might provide novel insights into the pathogenesis of NSCLC and reveal promising immune infiltration and prognostic biomarkers.

Methods: In the present study , we infected human malignant embryonal rhabdomyoma (RD) cells with the OC43 strain of the coronavirus, which represent an alternative model for SARS-CoV-2 and then employed the cell viability assay kit for the antiviral activity. We combined computer aided virtual screening to predicte the binding site and employed Surface plasmon resonance analysis (SPR) to comfirm the interaction between drugs and coronavirus. We employed fluorescence resonance energy transfer technology to identify drug’s inhibition in the proteolytic activity of 3CLpro and Plpro. Results: Based on our results, polydatin and resveratrol derived from P. cuspidatum significantly suppressed HCoV-OC43 replication. 50% inhibitory concentration (IC50) values of polydatin inhibited SARS-CoV-2 Mpro and Plpro, MERS Mpro and Plpro were 18.66, 125, 14.6 and 25.42 μm, respectively. IC50 values of resveratrol inhibited SARS-CoV-2 Mpro and Plpro, MERS Mpro and Plpro were 29.81 ,60.86, 16.35 and19.04 μM, respectively. Finally, SPR assay confirmed that polydatin and resveratrol had high affinity to SARS-CoV-2, SARS-CoV 3Clpro, MERS-CoV 3Clpro and PLpro protein. Conclusions: we identified the antiviral activity of flavonoids polydatin and resveratrol on RD cells. Polydatin and resveratrol were found to be specific and selective inhibitors for SARS-CoV-2, 3CLpro and PLpro, viral cysteine proteases. In summary, this study identifies P. cuspidatum as the potential broad-spectrum inhibitor for the treatment of coronaviruses infections.

PurposeTo explore the composition of the ocular microbiome in patients with Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) using metagenomic nanopore sequencing.MethodsA total of 98 participants were recruited from September to December 2021, including 86 patients with MGD and 12 controls. Symptoms and signs of dry eye were assessed, and bacterial samples in the conjunctival sac (CS) and meibomian gland (MG) secretions were then identified by bacterial culture identification and metagenomic nanopore sequencing.ResultsThe positive rate of CS bacterial culture in the MGD group was significantly higher than that in the normal group. A more complex composition of bacterial genera was detected in the mild and moderate MGD groups than in the control. However, the severe MGD groups had the simplest composition of bacteria. Metagenomic nanopore sequencing detected more species of bacteria than traditional culture.ConclusionThe CS and MG of MGD patients may have different degrees of bacterial microbiota imbalance. Metagenomic nanopore sequencing technology provides a new way for us to understand the composition of “real-world” ocular surface microorganisms.

ObjectiveThis study aimed to assess the quality of the clinical practice guidelines on psychological distress among cancer patients and provide users with recommendations for coping with psychological distress.MethodsA systematic search of relevant clinical practice guidelines was undertaken to identify and select the clinical practice guidelines related to psychological distress among cancer patients. Literature databases were searched in PubMed, Web of Science, Excerpta Medica Database, the Cumulative Index to Nursing & Allied Health Literature, China Biology Medicine, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, WanFang and Weipu Journal Database. The guideline databases include Yimaitong Guidelines Network, National Guideline Clearinghouse, National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence, American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), New Zealand Guidelines Group, Scottish Intercollegiate GuidelinesNetwork, American Psychological Association, Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario and Cancer Care Ontario (CCO). Four independent reviewers assessed the eligible guidelines using the Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and Evaluation (AGREE II) instrument.ResultsSix clinical practice guidelines were included and assessed for critical evaluation. The median score for the scope and purpose domain was 71.5% (IQR 64%-77.25%), the stakeholder involvement domain was 65% (IQR 47.5%-74.5%), the rigour of the development domain was 61.5% (IQR 45.5%-85.25%), the clarity of the presentation domain was 91% (IQR 72.25%-94.5%), the applicability domain was 70% (IQR 33%-78.75%), and the editorial independence domain was 48.84% (IQR 61.75%-95%). Four guidelines (ASCO, 2014; Canadian Association of Psychosocial Oncology, 2015; NCCN, 2020, and CCO, 2016) were classified as “recommended,” and the remaining (European Palliative Care Research Collaborative and Chinese Psychosocial Oncology Society) were “recommended with modifications,” especially in the domains of Stakeholder involvement, rigour of development, and applicability. The inter-rater consistency of each domain showed moderate level (0.52–0.90) analyzing by intraclass correlation.ConclusionsThe clinical practice guidelines on psychological distress among cancer patients varied in quality, and there were discrepancies in terms of the recommendations and recommendation grades. PurposeTo assess air pollution-induced changes on ocular surface and tear cytokine levels.MethodsAs a prospective multicenter cohort study, 387 dry eye disease (DED) participants were recruited from five provinces in China and underwent measurements of ocular surface disease index (OSDI), Schirmer’s I test (ST), tear meniscus height (TMH), tear film break-up time (TBUT), corneal fluorescein staining (CFS), meibomian gland (MG) function, and tear cytokines. The associations between ocular surface parameters and exposure to particulate matter (PM), ozone (O3), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), and sulfur dioxide (SO2) for 1 day, 1 week, and 1 month before the examination were analyzed in single- and multi-pollutant models adjusted for confounding factors.ResultsIn the multi-pollutant model, the OSDI score was positively correlated with PM with diameter ≤2.5 μm (PM2.5), O3, and SO2 exposure [PM2.5: β (1 week/month) = 0.229 (95% confidence interval (CI): 0.035–0.424)/0.211 (95% CI: 0.160–0.583); O3: β (1 day/week/month) = 0.403 (95% CI: 0.229–0.523)/0.471 (95% CI: 0.252–0.693)/0.468 (95% CI: 0.215–0.732); SO2: β (1 day/week) = 0.437 (95% CI: 0.193–0.680)/0.470 (95% CI: 0.040–0.901)]. Tear secretion was negatively correlated with O3 and NO2 exposures but positively correlated with PM2.5 levels. Air pollutants were negatively correlated with TBUT and positively related with CFS score. Besides SO2, all other pollutants were associated with aggravated MG dysfunction (MG expression, secretion, and loss) and tear cytokines increasement, such as PM2.5 and interleukin-8 (IL-8) [β (1 day) = 0.016 (95% CI: 0.003–0.029)], PM with diameter ≤10 μm (PM10) and IL-6 [β (1 day) = 0.019 (95% CI: 0.006–0.033)], NO2 and IL-6 [β (1 month) = 0.045 (95% CI: 0.018–0.072)], among others. The effects of air pollutants on DED symptoms/signs, MG functions and tear cytokines peaked within 1 week, 1 month, and 1 day, respectively.ConclusionIncreased PM2.5, O3, and SO2 exposures caused ocular discomfort and damage with tear film instability. PM10 exposure led to tear film instability and ocular injury. PM, O3, and NO2 exposures aggravated MG dysfunction and upregulated tear cytokine levels. Therefore, each air pollutant may influence DED via different mechanisms within different time windows.

This study aimed to investigate the association of between previously neglected oval cells located in the corneal vortex and dry eye disease (DED). This was an observational, prospective study involving 168 patients with different degrees of DED. In vivo confocal microscopy was used to observe the corneal subbasal nerves and Langerhans cells (LCs) in the corneal vortex and periphery. Bright and oval cells were also observed in the corneal vortex. An artificial intelligence technique was used to generate subbasal nerve fiber parameters. The patients were divided into the three groups based on the presence of inflammatory cells. Group 2 patients showed a significant increase in the corneal peripheral nerve maximum length and average corneal peripheral nerve density. Patients in group 3 had more LCs than other patients. A bright and oval cell was identified in the corneal vortex, which might be a type of immature LC related to the disease severity of DED.

AIM: To investigate the concentration of leptin in tears and its correlation with dry eye symptoms and signs. METHODS: The study enrolled individuals (n=39) responding to an advertising or dry eye patients (n=58) from the Ophthalmology Department. Tear samples were collected for leptin concentration measuring. PurposeThe study assessed the validity of impression cytology (IC) and in vivo confocal microscopy (IVCM) of lip mucosa compared with labial gland biopsy, anti-Sjögren’s syndrome A (SSA)/Ro antibody status, and classification criteria in suspected primary Sjögren’s syndrome (pSS) patients.MethodsClinically suspected pSS patients (n = 201) were enrolled consecutively and were divided into pSS (n = 56) and control (n = 145, only with dryness) groups according to the American College of Rheumatology-European League Against Rheumatism (ACR-EULAR) criteria. All patients underwent lip mucosa IC (inflammatory cell density) and IVCM (epithelium/intrinsic layer thickness and labial gland density/diameter) analyses. The associations between IC/IVCM parameters and clinical/laboratory results were analyzed.ResultsThe absolute agreement between positive lip mucosal IC (≥50 cells/4 mm2) and the ACR-EULAR criteria (94.5%)/labial gland biopsy (95.5%) was good, with sensitivities of 82.1 and 85.2%, respectively, and a specificity of 99.3%. Compared with controls, IVCM revealed significant lip mucosal atrophy and glandular decreases in the pSS group (all P = 0.000). The sensitivities for diagnosing pSS corresponding to a lamina propria thickness ≤128 μm and a gland diameter ≤114 μm were 85.7 and 89.3%; the specificities were 90.3 and 95.9%, respectively. A combination of positive IC/IVCM and anti-SSA/Ro antibody results showed a high predictive value for diagnosing pSS.ConclusionsIC and IVCM could detect distinctive cellular and morphological changes in the lip mucosa of patients with pSS. These noninvasive and easy-to-perform examinations may be an alternative to labial gland biopsy for diagnosing pSS.

The ultrafine-grained (UFG) CrCoNi medium entropy alloys (MEAs) with excellent mechanical and tribological performances were fabricated by combining rolling deformation and annealing treatment. The microstructures of CrCoNi MEAs were characterized by electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) and transmission electron microscope (TEM). The results show that the materials annealed at 650 ℃ for 10 min after cryogenic rolling display a yield strength as high as 1135 MPa and a graceful uniform ductility of 14.1%. Another group of materials rolled at room temperature followed by annealing at 650 ℃ for 20 min exhibit a yield strength of 987 MPa and an improved ductility of 18.6%. In addition, the grains of CrCoNi medium entropy alloys after above treatment are greatly refined to an average grain size of 0.81 μm and 0.92 μm respectively. The ultra-high strength is due to the grain boundary strengthening of high angle boundaries and dislocation strengthening of low angle boundaries. Remarkably, such UFG MEAs exhibit high wear resistance.

PurposeLess was known about globular cells which were a type of dendritic cells (DCs) in cornea. We aimed to investigate the morphological and distribution characteristics of globular cells in corneal vortex and their clinical correlations with ocular surface.MethodsCase records of patients who underwent in vivo confocal microscopy (IVCM) were evaluated retrospectively. The morphology and distribution features of globular cells in cornea nerve vortex and their co-existence status with Langerhans cells (LCs) were analyzed. Data of ocular surface symptoms and signs were collected and their correlations with globular cells distribution patterns and dendritic forms were performed. Dry eye patients without LCs were treated with preservative-free artificial tears, while patients with LCs were treated with artificial tears and fluoromethalone until the activated LCs disappeared.ResultsA total of 836 eyes from 451 individuals were included. Three distribution patterns of globular cells in vortex were investigated, type 1 scattered globular cells (57.66%), type 2 large amounts of globular cells (≥50 cells) gathering in vortex and along some fixed vortex direction horizontally (13.52%) and type 3 no globular cells (28.83%). Their location and cell count altered slightly in the follow-ups but would not disappear. LCs could co-exist with globular cells and could fade after treatment. The type 2 distribution pattern was associated with older age (p = 0.000) and higher upper eyelid Meiboscore (p = 0.006). Dendritic globular cells had higher Meiboscore than Non-dendritic forms.ConclusionsGlobular cells had characteristic distribution patterns and biological features different from LCs. They were associated with long-term irritation of the meibomian gland dysfunction.

Background: This study aimed to investigate the TP53 mutation, its potential immune features, its prognostic value, and its impact on immune infiltration in patients with breast cancer (BC).Methods: We downloaded the somatic mutation data and clinicopathologic features of BC patients from the TCGA GDC database, UCSC Xena platform, and International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC) database. The association between the TP53 mutation, clinicopathology features, and overall survival (OS) in BC patients was analyzed. We evaluated the potential role of the TP53 mutation in the immune therapy response, including the tumor mutation burden (TMB), microsatellite instability (MSI), and tumor immune dysfunction and exclusion (TIDE). Moreover, ESTIMATE was employed to assess the ImmuneScore and StromalScore in BC patients. We also explored immunocyte infiltration related to the TP53 mutation and its potential mechanism. Immunohistochemistry (IHC) was performed to validate the association between the expression of CXCL1, CXCL10, and CCL20 and TP53 status.Results: We found that the TP53 mutation was significantly associated with the shorter OS (p = 0.038) and was also an independent predictive factor of OS for BC patients (p < 0.001). Compared to that in the wild type group, the TP53-mutant group showed a higher TMB value (P< 0.001), MSI value (p = 0.077), and TIDE value (p < 0.001) with respect to BC patient immunotherapy. In addition, the ImmuneScore and StromalScore were both significantly increased in the TP53-mutant group (ImmuneScore: p < 0.001; StromalScore: p = 0.003). The results of CIBERSORT suggested that the TP53 mutation significantly promoted the infiltration of Tregs, T helper cells, and M0-type macrophages. KEGG and GSEA enrichment results suggested that the IL-17 signaling pathway and antigen processing and presentation pathways were significantly enriched in the TP53-mutant group. Importantly, based on IHC results of immune-related hub-genes, the chemokines CXCL1, CXCL10, and CCL20 were significantly upregulated in the TP53-mutant group in BC patients.Conclusion: These results indicate that a TP53 mutation might serve as a biomarker for BC prognosis and is related to immunocyte infiltration in the tumor microenvironment.

Sjögren's syndrome(SS)is a complex connective tissue disease, with an incidence only secondary to rheumatoid arthritis. The initial record was case reports in the late 19th century. In 1930, Henrik Sjögren proposed the conception of “Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca”for the first time, and preliminarily realized that SS was a systemic disease. Subsequently, the discovery of specific autoantibodies and the application of labial biopsy technique significantly improved the accuracy for SS diagnosis. As the understanding the disease improving, different classification criteria were proposed to improve the diagnostic accuracy. However, there still no classification criteria that can be applied as diagnostic criteria so far due to uncovered pathological mechanism of the disease. Currently, comprehensive managements are required with the cooperation of rheumatology, ophthalmology, and stomatology department. Further exploration of the pathogenesis and development of new diagnostic tools are expected to improve the diagnosis of SS. The paper aims to review the development of the classification criteria and to propose new ophthalmic examinations in order to improve the diagnosis of SS.

Appropriate distributed economic dispatch (DED) strategies are of great importance to manage wide-area controllable generators in wide-area regional power systems. Compared with existing works related to ED, where dispatch algorithms are carried out by a centralized controller, a practical DED scheme is proposed in this paper to achieve the optimal dispatch by appropriately allocating the load to generation units while guaranteeing consensus among incremental costs. The ED problem is decoupled into several parallel sub-problems by the primal-dual principle to address the computational issue of satisfying power balance between the demand and the supply from the distributed regional power system. The feasibility test and an innovative mechanism for unit commitment are then designed to handle extreme operation situations, such as low load level and surplus generation. In the designed mechanism, the on/off status of units is determined in a fully distributed framework, which is solved using the piecewise approximation method and the discrete consensus algorithm. In the algorithm, the push-sum protocol is proposed to increase the system adaptation on the time-varying communication topology. Moreover, consensus gain functions are designed to ensure the performance of the proposed DED under communication noise. Case studies on a standard IEEE 30-bus system demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed methodology.

With the development of energy integration technologies, the conventional scope of demand response has been extended to the integrated demand response (IDR), which imparts the flexibility to consumers' energy demand. This paper explores interaction patterns for multi-energy demand management and proposes an IDR mechanism for the industrial integrated energy system. The mechanism exploits three interaction patterns to promote the interaction between the demand and supply of multiple energy systems. The incentive payment is provided not only for curtailing interruptible electric load, but also for adjusting flexible heating and cooling loads. The coupling characteristics of industrial consumers' multi-energy demands are then modeled to reflect the mutual influence between the consumption behaviors for different energy sources. Besides, based on the coupling of CCHP (Combined Cooling, Heating, and Power) energy outputs, the demand-supply interaction model is also proposed, which could change the electric generation by affecting consumers' heating and cooling demands. The optimization model of the IDR is then established with the objective of minimizing the total dispatch cost. The simulation results show that compared with conventional DR programs, the total dispatch cost and consumers' energy procurement cost are both reduced. The CCHP could also benefit from this mechanism. Furthermore, the impact of the coupling characteristics and the incentive price on the dispatch cost is also analyzed.

Purpose. The purpose is to compare the outcomes of implantation of trifocal intraocular lenses (TIOLs) and extended depth of focus (EDOF) intraocular lenses (IOLs). Methods. A comprehensive search of PubMed, Cochrane Library, EMBASE, and ClinicalTrial.gov was conducted in March 2020 to identify relevant studies. A meta-analysis of the results was performed. Patients implanted with EDOF IOLs or TIOLs in previous studies were included. The primary outcomes of the study were uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA), uncorrected intermediate visual acuity (UIVA), uncorrected near visual acuity (UNVA), and defocus curve. Results. TIOLs and EDOF IOLs provided comparable binocular UDVA (MD = -0.01, 95% CI: -0.04, 0.03, logMAR). However, EDOF IOLs provided better UIVA (MD: -0.08, 95% CI: -0.14, -0.01, logMAR) and worse UNVA (MD: 0.10, 95% CI: 0.06, 0.14, logMAR) than TIOLs. Fewer patients achieved spectacle independence after implantation of EDOF IOLs (RR: 0.74, 95% CI: 0.63, 0.87) than after implantation of TIOLs, especially for near vision (RR = 0.82, 95% CI: 0.68, 0.99). There was no statistically significant difference in contrast sensitivity (CS) under photopic or mesopic conditions with both IOLs. Patient satisfaction after implantation of both IOLs was high. Conclusion. EDOF IOLs and TIOLs provide comparable distance vision. However, EDOF IOLs provide better intermediate vision and worse near vision than TIOLs. The advantages of EDOF IOLs over TIOLs in terms of CS, aberrations, and visual disturbance are not significant. Patients are satisfied with both types of IOLs.

Purpose. To assess the effects of oral vitamin B1 and mecobalamin on dry eye disease (DED) and patient satisfaction with treatment. Methods. In this randomized controlled study, DED patients were divided into 4 groups based on treatment: group 1, only artificial tears; group 2, corticosteroid eye drops and artificial tears; group 3, oral vitamin B1, mecobalamin, and artificial tears; and group 4, oral vitamin B1, mecobalamin, corticosteroid eye drops, and artificial tears. DED symptoms, signs, and patient satisfaction with treatment were assessed at baseline and at 1 and 2 months after treatment. Results. In total, 152 eyes from 76 patients (age, 55.25 ± 18.16 years) were included. BackgroundThe dominance complementarity theory argues that effective and continuing interpersonal relationships require complementary dominance and submission values. This theory has been widely applied to interpersonal interaction studies. Although studies have demonstrated the correlation between neurotic personality traits and general well-being (GWB) in older adults, the interpersonal interactions and psychological mechanisms underlying this effect remain unclear.AimUsing this theory, we explored the effect of the neuroticism fit between older adults and primary caregivers on older adults’ GWB and examined the mediating role of psychological resilience (PR).MethodsOne hundred sixty-one dyads of older adults and primary caregivers in nursing homes completed scales that included the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire-Revised Short Scale, the 10-Item Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale, and the GWB Schedule. We performed a cross-level polynomial regression, response surface modeling and mediating effect test to analyze the data.Results(1) Older adults’ GWB was higher when the neuroticism fit between older adults and primary caregivers was incongruent rather than congruent (p < 0.01). (2) In cases of incongruence, older adults’ GWB was higher only if their neuroticism was lower than that of their primary caregivers (p < 0.01). (3) In cases of congruence, older adults’ GWB was higher when the neuroticism of both sides was lower (p < 0.01). (4) PR partially mediated the relationship between neuroticism incongruence and older adults’ GWB (indirect effect = 0.14, p < 0.01).ConclusionThe neuroticism incongruence between older adults and primary caregivers was beneficial to older adults’ GWB and was partially mediated by PR.

In view of the high coupling degree of regional integrated energy system, a bilayer interaction strategy, consisting of energy suppliers, distribution networks, and users, is proposed. Game interaction strategy includes two aspects: scheduling and bidding. The independent system operator (ISO) coordinates all adjustable resources. Depending on the quotation price and multi-energy load prediction, ISO minimises the total energy cost, which realises the complementary of the multi-energy in the cooperative game. Under the assumption of incomplete information and bounded rationality, this study designs bidding functions and pay-as-bid settlement protocols. On this basis, according to history scheduling data and units’ characteristics, agents for energy suppliers pursue maximum interests. Also, the non-cooperative bidding process in multi-energy market is simulated by using Q-learning algorithm. Finally, the evolutionary process of the bilayer competitive game model is studied by practical example, and the existence local Nash equilibrium of the strategy is also proven.

Transparent films are significant industrial components that are widely used in modern optics, microelectronics, optical engineering, and other related fields. There is an urgent need for the fast and stable thickness measurement of industrial films at the micron-grade. This paper built a miniaturized and low-cost film thickness measurement system based on confocal spectral imaging and the principle of thin-film spectral interference. The reflection interference spectrum was analyzed to extract the phase term introduced by the film thickness from the full spectrum information, where local spectral noise can be better corrected. An efficient and robust film thickness calculation algorithm was realized without any calibrating sample. The micron-grade thickness measurement system had an industrial property with a measurement range of up to 75 μm with a measurement uncertainty of 0.1 μm, presenting a good performance in single-layer film thickness measurement with high efficiency.

Abstract Localized spoof surface plasmons (LSSPs) have recently emerged as a new research frontier due to their unique properties and increasing applications. Despite the importance, most of the current researches only focus on electric/magnetic LSSPs. Very recent research has revealed that toroidal LSSPs, LSSPs modes with multipole toroidal moments, can be achieved at a point defect in a 2D groove metal array. However, this metamaterial shows the limitations of large volume and poor compatibility to photonic integrated circuits. To overcome the above challenges, here it is proposed and experimentally demonstrated compact planar metadisks based on split ring resonators to support the toroidal LSSPs at microwave frequencies. Additionally, it is experimentally demonstrated that the toroidal LSSPs resonance is very sensitive to the structure changes and the background medium. These might facilitate its utilization in the design and application of plasmonic deformation sensors and the refractive index sensors.

A power allocation algorithm supporting delay constrains which maximizes the channel effective capacity of secondary users for satellite "Underlay"cognitive radio networks is proposed to improve the spectrum utilization of a satellite communication system. A power interference model is established based on the topology of satellite cognitive radio networks first,and then the object functions of effective capacity are derived both in perfect and imperfect channel state information environments. The Lagrange method is used to obtain the optimized transmitting power of secondary users by introducing the time-domain channel correlation coefficient.Optimized power adjusting strategies under different scenes are discussed while the power allocating and optimizing process is simplified. Factors which affect the effective capacity of secondary users are analyzed by simulation. The results indicate that the proposed power allocation algorithm can adjust the transmitting power of secondary users according to delay constrains with channel fading characteristics,and the channel effective capacity of secondary users is improved obviously compared to the traditional equal power allocation policy.

Datasets are significant for researchers to test the functionality of their proposed strategies for the microgrid dispatch. This article presents a dataset to help researchers in testing their algorithms related to the dispatch problem of microgrids coupled with natural gas networks. This preliminary release of a microgrid dispatch dataset contains data related to microgrid components (like solar PV, wind turbine, fuel cell and batteries) and natural gas network elements connected with the microgrid (e.g., micro gas turbine). It also includes the data associated with the authors’ proposed scheduling strategy and its dispatch results. The provided dataset can be used to reproduce the authors’ proposed strategy. The presented dataset further can be used for comparisons of other researchers’ proposed strategies. These comparisons will make a strategy’s features more evident.

Mutations in hepatitis B virus (HBV) surface promoter II (SPII) have not been well studied in hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg)-positive chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients. We aimed to investigate SPII mutations in such patients and their biological and clinical impacts. Direct sequencing was used to detect SPII mutations in 106 HBeAg-positive treatment-naïve CHB patients with genotype C (82.1% (87/106) was C2) HBV infection. Results showed that mutation frequency in transcription factor (TF) unbinding region was significantly higher than that in TF binding region of SPII (C1: 3.4% vs. 1.3%; C2: 2.6% vs. 1.3%; p < 0.0001). Luciferase assay revealed distinct promoter activities among SPII mutants; especially SPII of G120A mutant had a 15-fold higher activity than that of wild-type (p < 0.001). In vitro experiments in HepG2 cells showed that G82A, A115C and G120A mutants increased the hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) levels, while C18T had an opposite effect. G82A, A115C and G120A mutants boosted the intracellular HBV total RNA level. G120A mutation resulted in an increased HBV DNA level in vitro, consistent with the serological results in patients. Thus, novel SPII mutations would affect promoter activity, HBsAg, HBV DNA and HBV total RNA levels, suggesting their potential biological and clinical significances.
