As aerospace requirements for low noise and high strength spiral bevel gear transmission continue to increase, tooth surface precise control is becoming increasingly important in design and manufacture. The previous design depended significantly on ease off the tooth surface and using the tooth surface optimization approach. It’s a parameter design technique that goes from the design tooth surface to the target tooth surface without accounting for the reaction of the tooth surface to machine tool machining errors. This study proposes a new algorithm for reverse adjustment of tooth face accuracy control. A mathematical model of the tooth face is initially built using the local synthesis method to replicate the genuine machining process. Second, the machine setup settings are chosen as multi-objective optimization parameters, and the reverse adjustment model is constructed to investigate the machine’s machining error on the tooth surface, as well as the reverse adjustment model’s effects on contact and robustness characteristics. Finally, numerical calculations and comparisons with the findings of existing design approaches are used to verify the validity and effectiveness of the reverse adjustment algorithm in the design of tooth surface accuracy control of curved bevel gears.

Over the past few years, green small towns have gained a lot of attention, which is a significant trend in the construction industry. Beginning with the life cycle of green small towns, this paper analyses their incremental cost and income using mathematical quantitative models, which can serve as a reference for further evaluating the incremental cost and benefits of green small towns, and proposes countermeasures and suggestions to encourage the green small town growth.

The influencing degree of different factors on terminal energy consumption of public building varies distinctly. If the actual measured terminal energy consumption is directly analyzed, the comparison basis is often inconsistent, which may lead to errors of results. In order to evaluate the energy consumption based on a unified standard, eliminating the interference of influencing factors, the standardization and revision of the measurement value of the terminal energy consumption is necessary. By considering domestic public building samples of different climate regions as research objects, this research has introduced a dimensionality reduction and integration method for evaluating influencing factors that could affect the terminal energy consumption of public buildings based on principal component and clustering analysis. Then, the quantitative mathematical expressions of the relationship between terminal energy consumptions and influencing factors were established through multiple linear regression fitting, formulating the standardized mathematical model of the terminal energy consumption of public buildings. According to the energy consumption standardized model, the evaluation approach was provided and scored based on mode analysis method. This approach can evaluate terminal energy consumption level and energy efficiency potential, analyzing the level of terminal energy consumption of public buildings in China.

Cancer therapeutic strategies based on angiogenesis attract great attention from fundamental and clinical research. Blocking oxygen and nutrition supply to tumor cells could inhibit the growth of tumors based on occlusion of blood vessels in the tumor. Herein, we report a dual-responsive peptide-based nanoparticle, mimicking the laminin fibrillogenesis specifically and highly efficiently in tumor vessels, resulting in the blockage of tumor vessels and the growth inhibition of tumors. The laminin mimic peptide (LMMP) is designed with a fibrillation sequence, a pH-responsive sequence, and a targeting sequence. The LMMP in nanoformulations is delivered to blood vessels in the tumors, where the microenvironment (pH and microthrombus) enable LMMP to process laminin fibrillogenesis, constructing fibrous networks. The laminin-like fibrous networks capture red blood cells etc., forming occlusion specifically in the tumor blood vessels to inhibit the growth of the tumor.

Emotions and confidence are important factors in the career decision-making process. This process of choosing a specific direction towards a career often opens students to many uncertain situations, leading them to stress and anxiety. Emotional intelligence and generalized self-efficacy facilitate students in effective career decision-making by coping with difficulties during academia. The present study aimed to find the impact of emotional intelligence (EI) on career decision-making (CDM) and generalized self-efficacy (GSE) among university students in China.Patients and Methods: The study included 310 undergraduate students from different universities of China. A cross-sectional research design was used and a convenient sampling technique was utilized. For the present study, Wong and Law emotional intelligence, generalized self-efficacy, and career decision-making difficulties scales were utilized.Results: Findings of the study show that there is a significant relationship between EI, GSE, and career decision-making difficulties. Results revealed a significant positive relationship of GSE with emotional intelligence. GSE has a significant negative relationship with career decision-making difficulties. Moreover, EI has a significant negative relationship with career decision-making difficulties.Conclusion: The study will help students to utilize emotional intelligence skills during academic and vocational life. For future research, qualitative studies would be conducted to better explore the underlying causes behind career decision-making difficulties.Keywords: emotional intelligence, generalized self-efficacy, career decision-making difficulties, university students, China

Diabetic kidney disease (DKD), is one of the most common vascular diseases caused by diabetes, eventually progressing into glomerular sclerosis. Qidantang Granule is a traditional Chinese medicine that is commonly used for DKD. However, there is still no experimental evidence for its effectiveness on DKD. 8-week-old Sprague Dawley male rats were fed on high-fat and high-sugar diet for 4 weeks, and then intraperitoneally injected with 35 mg/kg streptozotocin (STZ) to induce diabetes. Diabetic rats were randomly divided into three groups, and orally administrated with vehicle, 50 mg/kg or 200 mg/kg Qidantang Granule respectively, once daily for 9 weeks. Qidantang Granule effectively reduced food and water intake, body weight and fasting blood glucose, decreased inflammation and oxidative stress, ameliorated renal injury through suppressing PI3K signaling pathway in STZ-induced DKD rats. Our results provide experimental evidence to demonstrate the pharmacological mechanism of Qidantang Granule in the treatment of DKD.

It is very challenging to propose a strong learning algorithm with high prediction accuracy of cross-media retrieval, while finding a weak learning algorithm which is slightly higher than that of random prediction is very easy. Inspired by this idea, we propose an imaginative Bagging based cross-media retrieval algorithm (called BCMR) in this paper. First, we utilize bootstrap sampling to carry out random sampling of the original training set. The amount of the sample abstracted by bootstrap is set to be same as the original dataset. Second, 50 bootstrap replicates are used for training 50 weak classifiers independently. We take advantage of homogenous individual classifiers and integrate eight different baseline methods in our experiments. Finally, we generate the final strong classifier from the 50 weak classifiers by the integration strategy of sample voting. We use collective wisdom to eliminate bad decisions so that the generalization ability of the integrated model could be greatly enhanced. Extensive experiments performed on three datasets show that BCMR can effectively improve the accuracy of cross-media retrieval.

The Chinese government announced the Clean Energy Heating Program in northern China in 2017, promoting clean energy for residents’ winter heating. The key difficulty of implementing this policy initiative lies in rural areas. This research hence focuses on evaluating the implementation of this policy in rural areas. Rural residents who directly benefit from, and are integrally involved in, the implementation process in Shandong Province were surveyed to evaluate their satisfaction with this policy. In order to identify their satisfaction indicators and obstacle factors, a TOPSIS obstacle model adjusted by entropy weight was developed. An evaluation system of the indicators of residents’ satisfaction with the policy was developed and converted into a questionnaire. The designed questionnaire was distributed to 341 rural residents in Jinan, Zibo and Heze in Shandong province. Data analysis suggests that, at the fiscal subsidies level, supporting infrastructure, technical supports and support organizations are four important factors affecting rural residents’ satisfaction. The key obstacle factors identified include technical support, supporting infrastructure, the operation subsidies level, heating cost, period of subsidies and achieved temperature. Corresponding suggestions for further clean energy heating policy design and implementation in rural areas in northern China are provided.

As a result, in order to compete in today’s global economy, businesses are contemplating incorporating behavioural components of human psychology into their decision-making processes. Corporations are masters of quantitative analysis, but they rarely pay attention to behavioural elements of organizational success. Emotional intelligence is important in many parts of life; therefore, it is crucial to look at its dimensions when it comes to corporate financial decision-making.Methods: A simple random sampling technique was used to collect data from 200 senior-level managers from the corporate sector located in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad of Pakistan. SPSS version 22 was used to test the hypotheses.Results: Results of the study show the gender-based variation in corporate financial decision-making detailing the higher impact of EI of males on CFD than their counterparts in the corporate sector organizations. The elements of self-awareness, empathy, motivation and self-regulation affect the financial decision-making of both the genders with varying degrees of influence, whereas social skills do not affect CFD of both genders.Conclusion: The study findings explicate that the influence of self-awareness and empathy constructs of EI on corporate financial decisions is stronger in female managers than their male counterparts. However, male managers exhibit a significantly stronger influence of motivation, social skills, and self-regulation dimensions on their financial decisions compared to female managers in a corporate setting. Overall, the impact of EI on CFD is slightly higher in male managers. ObjectivesThe distress is associated with the life quality and prognosis of patients with lung cancer. Distress thermometer (DT) has been widely recommended for distress screening. This study was conducted to summarise the positive rate of distress in patients with lung cancer using DT screenings.MethodsThe PubMed, Embase, PsyclNFO and Cochrane Library databases were comprehensively searched to identify all eligible studies published before 31 December 2021. Studies were eligible if they were published in peer-reviewed literature and evaluated distress levels by DT.ResultsTen eligible studies, including a total of 2111 patients, were included in this analysis, and their methodological quality was moderate. The pooled positive rate of distress in patients with lung cancer was 49.04% (95% CI 41.51% to 56.60%). The subgroup analysis revealed that the distress positive rate was significantly different (pConclusionsThe summarised distress positive rate was high and was significantly different according to gender and region. DT screening should be recommended for routine clinical practice and more attention should be given towards distress management.

KDM5B (lysine[K]-specific demethylase 5B) is frequently upregulated in various human cancers including prostate cancer. KDM5B controls H3K4me3/2 levels and regulates gene transcription and cell differentiation, yet the contributions of KDM5B to prostate cancer tumorigenesis remain unknown. In this study, we investigated the functional role of KDM5B in epigenetic dysregulation and prostate cancer progression in cultured cells and in mouse models of prostate epithelium–specific mutant Pten/Kdm5b. Kdm5b deficiency resulted in a significant delay in the onset of prostate cancer in Pten-null mice, whereas Kdm5b loss alone caused no morphologic abnormalities in mouse prostates. At 6 months of age, the prostate weight of Pten/Kdm5b mice was reduced by up to 70% compared with that of Pten mice. Pathologic analysis revealed Pten/Kdm5b mice displayed mild morphologic changes with hyperplasia in prostates, whereas age-matched Pten littermates developed high-grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia and prostate cancer. Mechanistically, KDM5B governed PI3K/AKT signaling in prostate cancer in vitro and in vivo. KDM5B directly bound the PIK3CA promoter, and KDM5B knockout resulted in a significant reduction of P110α and PIP3 levels and subsequent decrease in proliferation of human prostate cancer cells. Conversely, KDM5B overexpression resulted in increased PI3K/AKT signaling. Loss of Kdm5b abrogated the hyperactivation of AKT signaling by decreasing P110α/P85 levels in Pten/Kdm5b mice. Taken together, our findings reveal that KDM5B acts as a key regulator of PI3K/AKT signaling; they also support the concept that targeting KDM5B is a novel and effective therapeutic strategy against prostate cancer. Significance: This study demonstrates that levels of histone modification enzyme KDM5B determine hyperactivation of PI3K/AKT signaling in prostate cancer and that targeting KDM5B could be a novel strategy against prostate cancer.

Tunable photoluminescent-functionalized carbon quantum dots CQDs@Ln (TFA)3 (Ln = Eu, Tb, TFA: trifluoroacetylacetone) were designed and synthesized by introducing lanthanide complexes into the modified CQDs surface through the carboxyl group. The as-prepared CQDs@Ln (TFA)3 emit strong blue&ndash, green light with the peak at 435 nm and simultaneously show the characteristic emission of Ln3+ under irradiation of 365 nm light in aqueous solution. Moreover, these functionalized CQDs exhibit excellent photoluminescence properties. In addition, a white luminescent solution CQDs@Eu/Tb (TFA)3 was obtained by adjusting the ratio of Eu3+/Tb3+ and the excitation wavelengths. Moreover, CQDs@Tb (TFA)3 can be utilized as a fluorescent probe for the sensitive and selective detection of MnO4&minus, without interference from other ions in aqueous solution. These results provide the meaningful data for the multicomponent assembly and the photoluminescent-functionalized materials based on the modified CQDs and lanthanide, which can be expected to have potential application in photocatalytic or sensors.

During COVID-19 pandemic, how can cancer patients adjust their psychological status? In this article, some questions and suggestions are given to share. I listed some of negative emotions could happen on cancer patients and showed their harm and gave suggestions accordingly, especially in how to keep cancer patients in a healthy attitude during the difficult time.

Spray jet in cold kerosene-fueled supersonic flow has been characterized under different injection pressures to assess the effects of the pressure variation on the mixing between incident shock wave and transverse cavity injection. Based on the real scramjet combustor, a detailed computational fluid dynamics model is developed. The injection pressures are specified as 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0 MPa, respectively, with the other constant operation parameters (such as the injection diameter, angle and velocity). A three dimensional Couple Level Set & Volume of Fluids approach incorporating an improved Kelvin-Helmholtz & Rayleigh-Taylor model is used to investigate the interaction between kerosene and supersonic air. The numerical simulations primarily concentrate on penetration depth, span expansion area, angle of shock wave and sauter mean diameter distribution of the kerosene droplets with/without evaporation. Validation has been implemented by comparing the calculated against the measured in literature with good qualitative agreement. Results show that the penetration depth, span-wise angle and expansion area of the transverse cavity jet are all increased with the injection pressure. However, when the injection pressure is further increased, the value in either penetration depth or expansion area increases appreciably. This study demonstrates the feasibility and effectiveness of the combination of Couple Level Set & Volume of Fluids approach and an improved Kelvin-Helmholtz & Rayleigh-Taylor model, in turn providing insights into scramjet design improvement.

Different from chemical (small molecular inhibitor) and biological (monoclonal antibody) drugs, herein, based on angiogenesis-related neuropilin-1 (NRP-1), we develop a biomimetic superstructure drug, i.e. an antibody-like peptidic network (ALPN) to achieve the high-efficient treatment of choroidal neovascularization (CNV). The ALPN in nanoparticulated formulation (ALPN-NPS) can bind NRP-1 through targeting unit and form fibrous peptidic networks trapping NRP-1 on the surface of endothelial cells (ECs), leading to anti-angiogenesis. The ALPN shows high-efficacy against angiogenesis in CNV rat model ascribed to the superstructure-enhanced binding and blockage of NRP-1. The very low dose of ALPN (0.263 μg/Kg) exhibits similar anti-angiogenesis effect comparing with monoclonal antibody bevacizumab (23.5 μg/Kg), which shows potential advantages over traditional monoclonal antibodies.

12121 Background: The purpose of this randomized trial was to compare the efficacy of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) versus treatment as usual (TAU) on anxiety and depression, response rates and acute adverse events in patients with locoregional advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) receiving chemoradiotherapy. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first randomized trial evaluating the effect of CBT for depression and anxiety in patients with locoregional advanced NPC treated with chemoradiotherapy. Methods: A total of 202 patients with diagnosis of stage III-IVa (8th AJCC) NPC were randomly assigned to receive CBT plus chemoradiotherapy (CBT group, n = 101) or treatment as usual (TAU) plus chemoradiotherapy (TAU group, n = 101). Patients in the CBT group received a series of six CBT sessions for 6 weeks during concurrent chemoradiotherapy. Depression and anxiety were assessed using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) score at baseline, the completion of chemoradiotherapy, 1 and 3 months after chemoradiotherapy. Response rates and adverse events were also evaluated. This trial is registered with chictr.org.cn, number ChiCTR2000034701. Results: Patients in the CBT group showed significantly less depression and anxiety than patients in the TAU group after the completion of CBT (P < 0.01). Complete response (CR) rate was significantly higher in CBT group than in TAU group (100% vs. 93.1%，P = 0.014). Compared with the TAU group, the CBT group showed a significantly lower incidence of acute adverse events including anemia, fatigue, mucositis, insomnia and weight losing (P < 0.05). Conclusions: The addition of CBT to chemoradiotherapy significantly reduced depressive and anxiety symptoms. CBT combined with chemoradiotherapy is associated with improved response rates, with reduced incidence of acute toxic effects in patients with locoregional advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Herein, we demonstrate a successful preparation method of ionic liquid functionalized POSS hybrids by quaternization of imidazole salt with Octa-(ɤ-chloropropyl) POSS. A novel photofunctional hybrid soft material POSS- min-[Eu(tta)4] (tta:2-thenoyltrifluoroacetone) was reported via an ion-exchange reaction between imidazolium-based POSS(POSS-min-Cl) and lanthanide complex [Eu(tta)4]-. The obtained hybrids were extensively characterized by FT-IR, 1HNMR, 13CNMR, UV–Vis, PL and TGA in detail. What's more, POSS-min-[Eu(tta)4] displays higher fluorescence intensity, longer lifetime and higher thermostability than corresponding pure complex. More significantly, POSS-min-[Eu(tta)4] exhibits the improvement of photo physical properties (ƞ = 53.73 %) and is selected as the representative sample to examine the potential fluorescence sensing of metal cations. The hybrid POSS-min-[Eu(tta)4] has selective fluorescent quenching effect for different metal ions, especially for Cu2+. These results provide meaningful data for the multi-component assembly and responsive luminescent of photo functional hybrids based on modified ionic liquid and lanthanide, which can be expected to have potential application in organic light-emitting devices(OLED) or sensor.

This paper presents a method of using femtosecond laser inscribed nanograting as low-loss– and high-temperature–stable in-fiber reflectors. By introducing a pair of nanograting inside the core of a single-mode optical fiber, an intrinsic Fabry-Perot interferometer can be created for high-temperature sensing applications. The morphology of the nanograting inscribed in fiber cores was engineered by tuning the fabrication conditions to achieve a high fringe visibility of 0.49 and low insertion loss of 0.002 dB per sensor. Using a white light interferometry demodulation algorithm, we demonstrate the temperature sensitivity, cross-talk, and spatial multiplexability of sensor arrays. Both the sensor performance and stability were studied from room temperature to 1000°C with cyclic heating and cooling. Our results demonstrate a femtosecond direct laser writing technique capable of producing highly multiplexable in-fiber intrinsic Fabry-Perot interferometer sensor devices with high fringe contrast, high sensitivity, and low-loss for application in harsh environmental conditions.

The combination of direct sampling ionization and miniature mass spectrometer presents a promising technical pathway of point-of-care analysis in clinical applications. In this work, a miniature mass spectrometry system was used for analysis of tissue samples. Direct tissue sampling coupled with extraction spray ionization was used with a home-built miniature mass spectrometer, Mini 12. Lipid species in tissue samples were well profiled in rat brain, kidney, and liver in a couple of minutes. By incorporating a photochemical (Paterno-Buchi) reaction, fast identification of lipid C═C location was realized. Relative quantitation of the lipid C═C isomer was performed by calculating the intensity ratio C═C diagnostic product ions, by which FA 18:1 (Δ9)/FA 18:1 (Δ11) was found to change significantly in mouse cancerous breast tissue samples. Accumulation of 2-hydroxylglutarate in human glioma samples, not in normal brains, can also be easily identified for rapid diagnosis.

In this work, a low-cost multipoint fiber optic sensor system for real-time monitoring of the temperature distribution on transformer cores was demonstrated. The temperature sensors are based on multi-mode random air hole fibers infiltrated with CdSe/ZnS quantum dots. Quantum dots resided in multi-mode random-hole core regions can be optically excited by guided UV light with extremely high quantum efficiency. The photoluminescence intensity dependence on the ambient temperatures were used to gauge the local operational temperature of transformer under strong magnetic fields. Multiplepoint temperature sensing systems were developed by bundling quantum dots infiltrated random air hole fibers together. Using a low-cost UV diode laser as a light source and a CCD camera as detector, hundreds of fiber sensors can be interrogated at low cost. This multi-point fiber sensor system, which is free from electromagnetic interference, was used to monitor temperature fluctuation of transformer from the room temperature up to 96°C with better than 1°C accuracy. The proposed fiber optic sensing scheme could overcome the shortcomings of traditional electric sensors and provide a versatile and low-cost approach to map the temperature distribution of electric power systems such as transformers operated in strong electromagnetic fields.

This paper reports an ultrafast laser processing method to improve the high temperature stability, radiation resilience, and measurement sensitivity in silica optical fiber distributed temperature sensing with optical frequency domain reflectometry (OFDR).

Laser shock micro-forming is a non-thermal laser forming method that uses laser-induced shockwave to modify surface properties and to adjust shapes and geometry of work pieces. The magnitude and spatial distribution of the laser-induced shockwaves depend on the energy profiles of the laser beam focused on sample surfaces. In this paper, we present an adaptive optical technique to engineer spatial profiles of laser beams to control the shapes, sizes, and locations of the laser-induced shockwaves and the resulting forming features. Using a spatial light modulator, this adaptive laser beam forming tool was used to process free-standing MEMS structures in aluminum, which has led to highly uniform forming features. Shockwave simultaneously excited by multiple laser beams generated by the spatial light modulator and its effects on the micro-forming process were also studied. The results presented in this paper show that the adaptive optics laser beam forming is an effective and flexible method to generate shockwave with various shapes and sizes of wavefront and at multiple locations for laser processing at microscales.

Anaerobic baffled reactor (ABR) processes play an increasingly important role in wastewater treatment and resource recycling by its ingenious construction and excellent performance. The authors aim to introduce new research progresses and applications of ABR in the last two decades, focusing mainly on the following aspects: presenting and comparing its development and application instances, discussing the optimization of operating regulation and mathematical models, stating existing problems in current researches, suggesting possible improvements, and proposing future research perspectives. The contributions of this review involve enhancing ABR treatment efficiency and operation stability to provide information for colleagues.

In the process of fermentative bio-hydrogen production, organic matter is degraded into volatile fatty acids and ethanol, and consequently thermodynamic constraints prevent the further spontaneous reactions. Moreover, the anaerobic baffled reactor (ABR) with the advantage of phase separation could realize the acetic acid accumulation via acid-producing bacteria. The microbial electrolysis cell (MEC) could convert the acetic acid into hydrogen furthermore. Considering this, the ABR coupled with MEC has been operated to strengthen the hydrogen production. This study was designed regarding orthogonal experiments to operate the four-compartment ABR with a hydraulic retention time (HRT) = 24 h, influent COD ∼ 4600 mg/L, temperature = 35 ± 1 °C, and discovered the optimal parameters with pH = 7, C/N = 44, and 2-bromoethanesulfonate (BES) concentration = 20 mmol/L to achieve the high acetic acid accumulation of effluent. The single-chamber membranless MEC with carbon anode and Ni-catalyst stainless steel cathode (liquid volume = 85 mL) fed with the ABR effluent with applied voltage = 0.6 V and electric conductivity = 7.45 mS/cm, achieved 99.0 ± 0.3% total COD removal efficiency, 1.31 ± 0.04 m 3 H 2 /m 3 d hydrogen production, 2.78 ± 0.11 mLH 2 /mgCOD hydrogen yield and 138.63 ± 3.11% electrical energy efficiency. Therefore the ABR-MEC system could overcome the “fermentation barrier” to achieve higher hydrogen production and organic matter degradation.

Breaking through the “fermentation barrier” bottleneck of conventional biological hydrogen production technology, achieving the depth use of carbon source, and obtaining the higher hydrogen production, bioelectrocatalysis technology assisted fermentation process has vast prospective of applications. The main technical route is the microbial electrolysis cell (MEC). Based on the cutting-edge researches carried out by worldwide scholars, this paper focuses on the comprehensive discussion of MEC design, substrate selection, electrode materials, performance optimization, microbiology, as well as the main problems of the corresponding research. The review also presents recommendations and solutions accordingly. Finally, the prospects of microbial electrocatalysis assisted technology in the field of environmental pollution control and energy recovery application have been disclosed.

JARID1B (also known as KDM5B or PLU1) is a member of the JARID1 family of histone lysine demethylases responsible for the demethylation of trimethylated lysine 27 in histone H3 (H3K4me3), a mark for actively transcribed genes. JARID1B is overexpressed in several cancers, including breast cancer, prostate cancer, and lung cancer. In addition, JARID1B is required for mammary tumor formation in syngeneic or xenograft mouse models. JARID1B-expressing melanoma cells are associated with increased self-renewal character. Therefore, JARID1B represents an attractive target for cancer therapy. Here we characterized JARID1B using a homogeneous luminescence-based demethylase assay. We then conducted a high throughput screen of over 15,000 small molecules to identify inhibitors of JARID1B. From this screen, we identified several known JmjC histone demethylase inhibitors, including 2,4-pyridinedicarboxylic acid and catechols. More importantly, we identified several novel inhibitors, including 2-4(4-methylphenyl)-1,2-benzisothiazol-3(2H)-one (PBIT), which inhibits JARID1B with an IC50 of about 3 μm in vitro. Consistent with this, PBIT treatment inhibited removal of H3K4me3 by JARID1B in cells. Furthermore, this compound inhibited proliferation of cells expressing higher levels of JARID1B. These results suggest that this novel small molecule inhibitor is a lead compound that can be further optimized for cancer therapy.

Compact, robust, and energy-efficient lasers play critical roles in various laser remoting sensing applications in fields such as laser Raman and laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) techniques. This paper discusses the development of compact and portable Q-Switched Nd: YAG lasers with multi-pulse output and their applications in laser remote sensing. Using a vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser in an end-pump scheme and 3D printing technique, we describe a new approach to produce compact and lightweight laser system with outstanding thermal-mechanic properties. The applications of compact laser systems will be discussed in LIBS.

3D temperature mapping of passive cooling structures built by additive manufacturing was interrogated by in-fiber Rayleigh backscattering using optical frequency domain reflectometry for therm-mechanic structure optimization for laser and photonic systems.

This paper reports ultrafast laser fabrication of waveguide circuits in optical fibers with rectangular cross-section and large flat surface area designed for on/in fiber integration. Low-loss coupler and WDM devices are directly integrated in fibers.
