Abstract

We have developed a robust method for the detection of heavy metal ions zinc, cadmium, and mercury in water. In this study we have synthesized a hydrogel based on biopolymer that is raw wool obtained from eszvMarino sheep and used this hydrogel as heavy metal ion sensor in the water. We have incorporated meta- benziporphodimethene ligand in-situ in the hydrogel synthesis, which shows selectively color-changing characteristics when immersed in Zn2+, Cd2+ and Hg2+ metal ions aqueous solution. This hydrogel shows selective response towards Zn2+, Cd2+ and Hg2+ metal ions in a competitive environment. Meta-BPDM was responsible for the selectivity of hydrogel towards Zn2+, Cd2+ and Hg2+ metal ions in water. This selective sensing behavior of raw wool based hydrogel has given a novel existence to our study. The synthesized hydrogel was studied for sensing applications and characterized by using FTIR, TGA, and SEM techniques.

Abstract

Purpose – The purpose of this study is to find the organizational practices in place for the performance evaluation of temporary employees and how that varies from permanent employees. Method – The study takes an inductive and interpretive approach to find out the unknown practices. The study is conducted over 7 respondents from different organizations split between recruitment agencies and client organizations and represents practices maintained by both set of industries. Findings – The study identifies low standardization in performance evaluation and discusses the variance from literature over the subject matter. Also a model is drawn based on the amalgamation of literary review and empirical results. Implications – The study presents variance in the processes for temporary employees and the prime areas where the variance occurs. For the organizations to have fair and just performance management system and for equality towards temporary employees, these issues must be addressed. Limitations – Cultural practices are not taken into consideration and literature might be based on different cultural practices than the respondents country and for a wholesome study, more respondents might be needed.

Information security is an essential component and assets for any organization, whether it is commercial government or proprietary business. Report after report keeps pointing to the “insider threat” as one of the greatest information security risks within the modern organization. But what exactly is the insider threat and how we can help reduce this risk? This paper analyzes the importance of information security, benefits of it and how the information can be protected by the various threats which are inside the organization, and may leads to information loss. The aim of this paper is to allow businesses, administrators, developers and designers to produce and provide with some methods or techniques to secure such information so that the risk associated with the information loss can be minimized. In this paper we will break down the various attributes of the insider threat, and suggest some methods have been suggested which can help an organization to secure the sensitive and crucial information.

Abstract

Scalloping of visceral organs like liver and spleen can cause certain peritoneal diseases. It has usually been described with pseudomyxoma peritonei and peritoneal carcinomatosis. Occasionally, it has also been described with certain benign conditions like peritoneal tuberculosis. We describe visceral scalloping in setting of pancreatic diseases. We believe that pancreatic fluid collections exert significant pressure on the visceral organs to result in scalloping of the visceral surfaces.
