Background and Aim: Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) is a highly contagious viral disease that endangers livestock and the environment with significant economic consequences. This study aimed to validate the inactivation of the Indonesian isolate of foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) with various formaldehyde concentration. Materials and Methods: The experiment started with FMDV being adapted on BHK-21 cells until cytopathic effects (CPE) appeared. The biological titer of the virus was determined using the 50% tissue culture infectious dose (TCID50) assay. The virus was inactivated by exposing the isolate to different formaldehyde (FA) concentrations (0.025%, 0.05%, 0.1%, and 0.2%) at 37 °C for 24 h, and residual infectivity was assessed using CPE scoring of reinoculated BHK-21 cells. Results: 72 h post-inoculation, the virulence of the FMDV isolate was indicated by complete CPE on BHK-21 monolayer cells, with a TCID50 value of 109/mL; CPE scoring did not signify significant differences (p < 0.05) among 0.025%, 0.05%, 0.1%, 0.2% FA, and the negative control. All treatment groups showed significant differences (p < 0.05) from the positive control (C+). FA concentrations inactivated the FMDV isolate under the given conditions. 0.025% and 0.05% FA continued to display CPE through the third passage, while 0.2% FA did not significantly differ from 0.1% FA (p > 0.05). 0.1% FA is the optimal concentration for safely and effectively inactivating FMDV. Conclusion: All of the formaldehyde concentrations can completely inactivate the FMDV isolate, with the most optimal and safe concentration being 0.1%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The frequent zoonotic disease known as "bovine tuberculosis" is brought on by the Mycobacterium bovis bacteria, which can infect both people and animals. The aim of this review article is to provide an explanation of the etiology, history, epidemiology, pathogenesis, clinical symptoms, diagnosis, transmission, risk factors, public health importance, economic impact, treatment, and control of bovine tuberculosis. Primarily, bovine tuberculosis affects cattle, but other animals may also be affected. Bovine tuberculosis is present throughout the world, with the exception of Antarctica. Cattle that contract bovine tuberculosis might suffer from a persistent, crippling illness. In the early stages of the disease, there are no symptoms. The tuberculin test is the primary method for detecting bovine tuberculosis in cows. Depending on its localized site in the infected animal, M. bovis can be found in respiratory secretions, milk, urine, feces, vaginal secretions, semen, feces, and exudates from lesions (such as lymph node drainage and some skin lesions). This illness generally lowers cattle productivity and could have a negative financial impact on the livestock business, particularly the dairy industry. The most effective first-line anti-tuberculosis chemotherapy consists of isoniazid, ethambutol, rifampin, and streptomycin. Second-line drugs used against bovine tuberculosis include ethionamide, capreomycin, thioacetazone, and cycloserine. To successfully control and eradicate bovine tuberculosis, developed nations have implemented routine testing and culling of infected animals under national mandatory programs. Introduction: Adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) have been subject of several studies due to their abundance, ease of preparation, and application in bone regeneration. We aim to compare effectiveness of alveolar reconstruction utilizing human cancellous freeze-dried graft (HCG) and beta tricalcium phosphate (BTP), both seeded with human ADSC (hADSC) and autologous bone graft (ABG). Material and Methods: A 5 × 5 mm alveolar defect in 36 male Wistar rats were treated using: ABG (C), HCG–hADSC (H1), and BTP–hADSC (H2). At 1 and 8 weeks after surgery, runt-related transcription factor 2 (RUNX2), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), osterix (OSX), and bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP2; g/mL) were quantified using immunohistochemistry, while bone tissue volume (BV, mm3), bone tissue volume fraction (BF, percentage), and trabecular thickness of bone (TT, mm) were assessed using micro-computed tomography (CT). Results: One week after surgery, H2 was higher in RUNX2, OSX, ALP, and BMP2 than C (P <.05). Only RUNX2 and OSX were found to be higher in H1 than C, while ALP and BMP2 were higher in H2 than H1. Micro-CT revealed that H2 had a higher TT than C and C had a higher TT than H1 (P <.05). Eight weeks after surgery, both H2 and H1 was higher in RUNX2, OSX, ALP, and BMP2 than C (P <.05). RUNX2 and BMP2 were found to be higher in H1 than H2. Micro-CT revealed that H2 had higher BV and TT than C and H1 (P <.05). Conclusions: Exogenous hADSC strengthened the effectiveness of HCG and BTP to accelerate osteogenesis, osteoconduction, and osteoinduction. Background: Wound healing shows a unique interaction of several cells, growth factors and cytokines. The healing of chronic plantar ulcer of leprosy is influenced by various factors, one of which is the concentration of growth factors and cytokines related to the pathogenesis of impaired wound healing. Growth factors and cytokines can be found in the secretome of adipose mesenchymal stem cells. Aim: To compare the effectiveness of topical adipose mesenchymal stem cell-conditioned medium and framycetin gauze dressing only on the healing of chronic plantar ulcer of leprosy. Methods: In this randomised controlled trial, 32 patients with chronic plantar ulcer of leprosy were recruited. After detailed clinical and initial debridement, patients were randomised to two groups to receive either topical adipose mesenchymal stem cell-conditioned medium (n = 16) or framycetin gauze dressing only (n = 16) applied every three days for up to eight weeks, following which the ulcer size, adverse reactions and complications if any were monitored weekly. Results: Healing percentage increased each week in all groups. Statistical differences between groups (P < 0.05) were observed from week 2 onwards for ulcer mean size reduction and from week 3 onwards for ulcer mean depth reduction. There were no adverse reactions or complications. Limitations: Off-loading on subjects were not performed. Background and Aim: Bibliometrics is a statistical method used to examine a collection of literature and its features, assess advancements in certain areas, and forecast future trends. To demonstrate global research trends in One Health and serve as a resource for potential future study and practice, we conducted a bibliometric analysis of articles related to worldwide research on One Health from Scopus database. Materials and Methods: This study identified keywords related to One Health that were limited by the subject area to medicine, veterinary, and environmental science to identify and search for articles in the Scopus database, which included 1608 international research papers published from 2012 to 2022. Results: The results showed a 10-year trend of rising publishing outputs and research interest in One Health. The most prolific One Health author is Zinsstag Jakob from Switzerland and the most productive journal on One Health was the One Health journal. The institution with the most One Health research articles was the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (USA). Coauthorship analysis revealed that the USA was the country with the greatest degree of affiliation, followed by the UK, Switzerland, and France. Four separate topic clusters were generated using the clustering algorithm within the network: (1) green: Veterinary; (2) blue: Zoonoses; (3) red: Antimicrobial resistance; and (4) yellow: Tropical disease. Conclusion: This article provides an overview of further research related to One Health. There is a need to explore further research in the environmental sector, which is the least explored sector among the three sectors in relation to One Health. The limitations of the current study were that we used only Scopus database and excluded literature from other scientific databases. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
