The formation mechanism of light bridges (LBs) is strongly related to the dynamic evolution of solar active regions (ARs). To study the relationship between LB formation and AR evolution phases, we employ 109 LB samples from 69 ARs in 2014 using observational data from the Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager on board the Solar Dynamics Observatory (HMI/SDO). LBs are well matched with the weak field lanes (WFLs), except that aligned on the polarity inversion line of {\delta} sunspots. For penumbral intrusion (type-A) and umbral-dot emergence (type-C) LBs, the WFLs represent the splitting of magnetic flux systems. The sunspots tend to decay and split into several parts after type-A and type-C LBs formed. For sunspot/umbra merging (type-B) LBs, the WFLs declining are caused by collisions of flux systems. The sunspots merge and keep stable after type-B LBs formed. We conclude that type-B LBs are formed by collisions of flux systems, while type-A and type-C LBs are generated by splits. The time differences ({\delta}T) between LBs appearing and ARs peaking have average value of 1.06, -1.60, 1.82 for type-A, B, C LBs, with the standard deviation of 3.27, 2.17, 1.89, respectively. A positive value of {\delta}T means that the LB appear after AR peaking, whereas a minus {\delta}T before the peak. Type-A LBs trend to form in the decaying phase or around the peak time. Type-B LBs are more likely to be formed in the developing phase. Type-C LBs mostly take shape in the decaying phase of ARs.

Magnetic flux ropes (MFRs), sets of coherently twisted magnetic field lines, are believed as core structures of various solar eruptions. Their evolution plays an important role to understand the physical mechanisms of solar eruptions, and can shed light on adverse space weather near the Earth. However, the erupting MFRs are occasionally prevented by strong overlying magnetic fields, and the MFR evolution during the descending phase in the confined cases is lack of attention. Here, we present the deformation of an erupting MFR accompanied by a confined double-peaked solar flare. The first peak corresponded to the MFR eruption in a standard flare model, and the second peak was closely associated with the flashings of an underlying sheared arcade (SA), the reversal slipping motion of the L-shaped flare ribbon, the falling of the MFR, and the shifting of top of filament threads. All results suggest that the confined MFR eruption involved in two-step magnetic reconnection presenting two distinct episodes of energy release in the flare impulsive phase, and the latter magnetic reconnection between the confined MFR and the underlying SA caused the deformation of MFR.

It is generally believed that filament formation involves a process of the accumulation of magnetic energy. However, in this paper we discuss the idea that filaments will not erupt and will only deform when the stored magnetic energy is released gradually. Combining high-quality observations from Solar Dynamics Observatory and other instruments, we present the formation and immediate deformation of a small filament (F1) in the active region (AR) 12760 on 28-30 April 2020. Before the filament formation, three successive dipoles quickly emerged with separation motions in the center of AR 12760. Due to the magnetic interaction between magnetic dipoles and pre-existing positive polarities, coronal brightenings consequently appeared in the overlying atmosphere. Subsequently, because of the continuous cancellation of magnetic flux that happened around the adjacent ends of F1 and another nearby filament (F2), the magnetic reconections occurred intermittently occurred between F1 and F2. Finally, F1 lessened in the shear, and F2 became shorter. All the results show that the formation of F1 was closely associated with intermittent interactions between the sequence of emerging dipoles and pre-existing magnetic polarities, and the immediate deformation of F1 was intimately related to intermittent interactions between F1 and F2. We also suggest that the intermittent magnetic interactions driven by the continuous magnetic activities (magnetic-flux emergence, cancellation, and convergence) play an important role in the formation and deformation of filaments.

To achieve high resolution imaging the standard control algorithm used for classical adaptive optics (AO) is the simple but efficient proportional-integral (PI) controller. The goal is to minimize the root mean square (RMS) error of the residual wave front. However, with the PI controller one does not reach this minimum. A possibility to achieve is to use Linear Quadratic Gaussian Control (LQG). In practice, however this control algorithm still encounters one unexpected problem, leading to the divergence of control in AO. In this paper we propose a Modified LQG (MLQG) to solve this issue. The controller is analyzed explicitly. Test in the lab shows strong stability and high precision compared to the classical control.

We classified the decoupled stochastic parallel gradient descent (SPGD) optimization model into two different types: software and hardware decoupling methods. A kind of software decoupling method is then proposed and a kind of hardware decoupling method is also proposed depending on the Shack-Hartmann (S-H) sensor. Using the normal sensor to accelerate the convergence of algorithm, the hardware decoupling method seems a capable realization of decoupled method. Based on the numerical simulation for correction of phase distortion in atmospheric turbulence, our methods are analyzed and compared with basic SPGD model and also other decoupling models, on the aspects of different spatial resolutions, mismatched control channels and noise. The results show that the phase distortion can be compensated after tens iterations with a strong capacity of noise tolerance in our model.
