Cashew nuts are the seeds at the very end of the fruit of the cashew plant (Anacardium occidentale Linn). The cashew plant produces fruit consisting of two parts, namely pseudo-fruit and true fruit. Pseudo-fruit is a fruit stalk (penduculus) that is fleshy and contains elements of protein, sugar, fat, carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins (A, B and C). The part of the fruit that produces cashews is a true fruit shaped like a kidney embedded at the end of a pseudo-fruit, green to brown, consisting of three layers, namely the hard skin layer (pericarp) consisting of epicarp, mesocarp and endocarp, epidermis layer (teste), and cashew seed layer (kernel). Cookies are a form of food that is easy to carry and is generally preferred by all circles of society. Cashew nut pulp has not been processed properly even though it can be used as a processed food ingredient that has many benefits. This research method uses factorial design 32 with data analysis using ANOVA. The novelty of this study is the use of cashew pulp flour with bleach modification as an ingredient in making cookies. This study aims to test the chemical quality of cookies from cashew nut pulp flour with oven temperature optimization. The chemical quality analyzed is in the form of protein content. It was found that the addition of cashew pulp flour had a significant effect on the protein content of cashew pulp cookies.

The growth of eceng gondok (Water hyacinth) in Rawa Pening Lake showed rapid increase.. Based on the mandate of the National Lake conference in Bali and the 16th World Lake Conference, Rawa Pening is one of the fifteen national lakes which need to be treated for its conservation. Reducing number of eceng gondok plants is one of the alternatif. However, further processing is required to treat the waste of eceng gondok. One attempt is to convert eceng gondok (water hyacinth) into liquid smoke product. This article reviewes the potency of eceng gondok for liquid smoke through pyrolisis method. The liquid smoke can be used for various applications such as preservatives, antioxidants, biopesticides and perisa disinfectants. Pyrolysis is a combustion process in the absence of oxygen to produce liquid and charcoal activated charcoal products called activated charcoal. The pyrolysis process is generally carried out at a temperature range between 200-700 °C. The pyrolysis process is one of the methods chosen in order to strive for development that suppresses the formation of CO gas but releases water vapor. Pyrolysis at a temperature of 300-700 ° C, produces the most dominant compounds 1.6 Anhyro-beta-d-glucopyranose, phenol, and acetic acid. The reaction that occurs during pyrolysis of this temperature is the release of water vapor instead of carbon gas so that it is safe for the environment. The discussion on this article focused on the production of liquid smoke from eceng gondok biomass.

The behavior of biomass pyrolysis can be predicted by analyzing its characteristics. This study aimed to model the release of volatiles across various temperatures, biomass properties, and heating rates. Palm kernel shells were pyrolyzed at 433–773 K with a heating rate of 5 K·min−1 using volatile‐state kinetic modeling. The process began by calculating the biomass type number (NCT), which was used to determine volatile enhancement (VE), volatile release yield (YVY), product yield (Yi), and product mass fraction (yi). The kinetic parameters, including the activation energy for product formation (Eai), were derived through a fitting process.The results indicate a YVY of 70.77% within the devolatilization zone, corresponding to the degradation of cellulose and hemicellulose. The YVY increased with higher temperatures, lower NCT, and higher heating rates. The activation energy ranged from 155–185 kJ·mol⁻¹ for biocrude oil (BCO) and 149–186 kJ·mol⁻¹ for gas. The kinetic parameters from the volatile‐state kinetic model demonstrated errors below 0.2% in comparison with the experimental data, confirming the model's accuracy and reliability.
