Background: Low Back Pain (LBP) is most common symptom among dentists due to working in a standing position and prolonged stooping over a reclined or supine patients which lead to trigger points formation at lower back. Aims of Study: Localized most common level of trigger point formation among dentists at lumbosacral area and identified the possible risk factors for the development of trigger points by Algometer which eased for physical therapist to find trigger point easily and save time and effort for treatment. Subjects and Methods: This study was carried out on fifty dentists males with low back pain and their ages were ranged from 30 to 45 years, dentists have recurrent episode of pain at lower back and all dentists worked daily at hospital or in thier private clinics examinated from El-Yom El-Wahed and El-Hayaa El-Arabya Hospitals in Maadi District, Cairo Governorate. Results: L5 level was the common site of trigger points at lower back detected in 15 (48.3%) subjects followed by S1 level in 7 (22.5%) subjects and S2 level in 7 (22.5%) subjects and Trigger points at lower back was detected in L4 level in 2 (6.7%) subjects 19. Conclusion: L5 level was the common site of trigger point formation at lower back among dentists.

Background/Aims: Chronic low back dysfunction is a serious health problem affecting people at some time in their life; it impedes the mobility of the lumbar spine and adjacent joints leading to functional disabilities. Muscle Energy Techniques aim to normalise soft tissue structures, such as shortened or tight muscles, with no direct implication to the joint associated with these soft tissues. Kinesio taping supports damaged structures without restriction of mobility and at the same time may influence some of the mechanisms associated with muscle fatigue, such as blood flow and proprioception. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of Muscle Energy Techniques and kinesio taping on pain level and spinal mobility in patients with chronic low back dysfunction. Methods: A total of 90 patients with chronic low back dysfunction were selected. All participants were randomly allocated into three groups; group A received cross (X) technique kinesio taping and conventional therapy, Group B received cross (X) technique kinesio taping, Muscle Energy Techniques and conventional therapy, Group C received Muscle Energy Techniques and conventional therapy. A visual analogue scale for pain severity and inclinometer for trunk range of motion were used to measure the results. Results: Results showed that there was no statistically significant difference between the post-treatment measurements of the three groups. Conclusions: A combination between Muscle Energy Techniques and kinesio taping with conventional therapy appears to improve pain and trunk range of motion in patients with chronic low back dysfunction.

We report a case of 55-year-old women, with a medical history of hypertension and diabetes, who complained of a sudden loss of vision of her left eye. Her VA was less than 20/200; slit lamp and gonioscopy were unremarkable. Dilated fundus examination had shown an Aspect of HRVO with a Thunder of flame shaped retinal hemorrhages covering the inferior half of the retina, tortuous veins and cotton-wool spots.

The adverse effects of chlorpyrifos, cypermethrin, and imidacloprid on mitochondrial dysfunction and oxidative stress biomarkers were studied in rat liver. The liver deficiency was also confirmed by histological analysis and gel electrophoresis. Each insecticide was administered orally with five doses per week for 28 days to male albino rats at 1/50 of the LD50 per insecticide. The results demonstrated that the mitochondrial dysfunction was confirmed by a significant decrease in NADH dehydrogenase and ATPase activities. Oxidative stress biomarkers include malondialdehyde (MDA), and protein carbonyl content (PCC) were significantly increased. However, superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione S-transferase (GST) as antioxidant enzymes were significantly decreased in the mitochondria of the rat liver. HPLC analysis showed a significant increase of the 8-hydroxy-2′-deoxyguanosine (8-OH-2DG) as a biomarker of the DNA damage in rat liver. In addition, the residue levels of 0.96 and 0.29 μg/mL serum were found for cypermethrin and imidacloprid, respectively. However, chlorpyrifos not detected using the HPLC analysis. Blue native polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (BN-PAGE) analysis showed a change in the pattern and sequence of complexions of the electron transport chain in liver mitochondria with treatment by such insecticides. The hepatic histological examination also showed symptoms of abnormalities after exposure to these insecticides.

Spatial rainfall data is an essential input to physically based, parametrically distributed hydrological models, and a main contributor to hydrological model uncertainty. Two important issues should be addressed before use of satellite and reanalysis rainfall product at basin level: 1) how useful are these rainfall estimates as forcing data for regional hydrological modeling? 2) which should be preferred for hydrological modelling at high flow and low flow seasons? To this end, rainfall estimates from a satellite-based product, CHIRPSv8, and reanalysis data, EWEMBI, were used as input to SWAT model, and mode performances were evaluated against streamflow measured at three gauge stations in the Upper Tekeze River basin, northern Ethiopia for the period of 2006-2015. Results showed that (I) the daily rainfall from both CHIRPSv8 and EWEMBI are close to the rain gauge data, with relative errors 2.12% and 3.85%, respectively; (II) the monthly streamflow simulated by the SWAT model driven by the CHIRPSv8 and EWEMBI had a Kling-Gupta Efficiency value of 0.6-0.79 and 0.58-0.64, respectively; (III) the SWAT model calibrated with the CHIRPSv8 and EWEMBI rainfall estimates has shown an improvement in hydrological performance compared with that calibrated with interpolated ground observations; (IV) the hydrological performance during high flow seasons is superior to low flow seasons for both CHIRPSv8 and EWEMBI, thus promoting the use of the products for applications focusing on the high flow conditions. In particular, CHIRPSv8 showed relatively better hydrologic performance than EWEMBI. This study provides insight on the usefulness of the gridded rainfall products for hydrological modeling and under which conditions they can be used to generate a plausible level of adequacy and reliability over the Upper Tekeze River basin.

L’endophtalmie endogène est une infection endoculaire exceptionnelle survenant par voie hématogène. Les foyers infectieux primitifs sont essentiellement cardiaques, dentaires, hépatiques, méningées et pulmonaires. Les endophtalmies endogènes à point de départ cutané sont une entité rare. Nous rapportons une observation rare d’un patient chez qui une endophtalmie endogène à point de départ cutané a été diagnostiquée à un stade Tardif, ce retard est lié à la présentation parfois trompeuse de cette affection. Nous discutant l’apport des examens complémentaires dans cette pathologie, particulièrement, l’échographie oculaire. La maladie de Behçet est une maladie chronique, auto-immune, multisystémique d'étiologie inconnue, caractérisée par des ulcères buccaux, ulcères génitaux, et lésions oculaires. Les manifestations ophtalmologiques de la maladie de Behçet sont multiples et sont parfois révélatrices de la maladie. Notre travail consiste à étudier ces manifestations dans un groupe de patients chez qui l’atteinte ophtalmologique a été révélatrice de la maladie de Behçet. Matériels et méthodes Il s’agit d’une étude rétrospective réalisée dans le service d’ophtalmologie à l’hôpital militaire d’instruction Mohamed V de Rabat entre Janvier 2009 et Décembre 2016. Elle a concerné 42 patients ayant consulté initialement pour des symptômes oculaires et chez qui le diagnostic de la maladie de Behçet a été retenu en se basant sur les critères d’ISG. Résultats: Les manifestations oculaires initiales étaient : une uvéite antérieure non granulomateuse dans (15,06 %) dont (10,9%) avec hypopion, une uvéite intermédiaire dans (9,5%), une hyalite dans (12,32%), une panuvéite dans (41,1%), des vascularites rétiniennes dans (16,43%), des occlusions veineuses rétiniennes dans (4,1%) et un œdème papillaire dans (1,3%). Les critères ayant permis de poser le diagnostic de la maladie de Behçet étaient essentiellement l’aphtose buccale, l’aphtose génitale et le test pathergique. Discussion Dans 10 % à 20 % des cas, l’atteinte oculaire peut être inaugurale, restant isolée pendant quelques années. Les aspects cliniques les plus fréquemment révélateurs de la maladie de Behçet sont les uvéites antérieures, les panuveites et les vascularites. Conclusion: l’origine ethnique et géographique du patient, l’âge jeune et certaines particularités cliniques des lésions oculaires doivent faire penser l’ophtalmologiste à la maladie de Behçet devant l’inflammation de l’une des structures oculaires l’inciter à rechercher , en collaboration avec d’autres spécialités, les autres critères de diagnostic, Journal de la Société Marocaine d’Ophtalmologie, No 27 (2018)

Imidacloprid (IMC) is a systemic insecticide being the most frequently detected neonicotinoid in fruits andvegetables. So, this study was carried out to evaluate the biochemical and the histological alterations associated with IMCtoxicity in male albino mice (Muss musculus). Also, the role of Nigella Sativa oil (NS oil), (4 ml/kg bw) on the adverseeffect of IMC was investigated. The animals were orally administered with 1/50 LD50 IMC (2.6 mg/kg bw) for 28 days (5doses/week). Hepatic and pancreatic toxicity was monitored by quantitative measurements of the serum aspartateaminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), α- amylase activities, glucose, total cholesterol, triglyceride,and high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol levels. Creatinine and urea levels were used as the biomarkers of kidneydamages. The results showed that imidacloprid administration caused a significant increase in the body and the organsweights. Also, the ALT Activity, glucose, urea, creatinine, total cholesterol, triglyceride, and HDL cholesterol levels wereincreased. Whereas the AST and α- amylase activity showed significant reduction when compared with the control group.The effect of IMC on the previous parameters was confirmed by the histological changes of liver and kidney. In addition,NS oil supplementation showed a significant reduction of IMC adverse effect. This result indicated that imidacloprid hasthe ability to damage liver and kidney functions and cause histological lesions in mice at the tested sublethal dose. Inaddition, NS oil supplementation attenuated the IMC adverse effect which confirms its protective influence
