Sponsoring charity sport events (CSEs) represents an opportunity for businesses to achieve a variety of marketing objectives. Event sponsors need to promote their brand in an authentic manner because CSE participants may be skeptical of the sponsor if they believe the organization is supporting the event solely for commercial purposes. The current research examines the perceptions that CSE participants have for a sponsor's contribution to the value creation process of the event. Semistructured interviews (N = 17) were conducted with MS (multiple sclerosis) Moonlight Walk 2018 participants to explore how this key stakeholder perceives the contribution of the sponsor (Harbour ISP [Internet service provider]) in the event experience. Five themes were uncovered: raising CSE awareness, cultivating a fundraising network, engaging authentically, celebrating constituents, and providing operational support. Building on the findings of this research, CSE managers and sponsors should work to share the story behind their partnership while integrating event participants in the development of the sponsorship program. Organisations choose to sponsor charity sport events (CSE) to achieve a variety of marketing objectives. Sponsoring CSEs is different than traditional sport event sponsorship programmes because CSEs combine sport with charity. The complexity of CSE sponsorship has attracted researchers from different disciplines, which has resulted in a wide-ranging body of literature. The purpose of the current systematic literature review is to synthesise the existing body of knowledge to identify future research opportunities. A systematic literature review of the existing CSE sponsorship literature was conducted. In total, 42 English peer-reviewed journal articles were analysed to summarise the geographic location, methodologies, theories, constructs, and managerial implications of the existing body of literature. The results reveal that a high proportion of the existing research has examined CSE sponsorship programmes in the United States. The majority of the articles reviewed collected cross-sectional data through questionnaires to investigate the outcomes of CSE sponsorship. Based upon the managerial implications advanced within the existing body of CSE sponsorship literature, event participation segmentation can assist in creating meaningful leverage initiatives. Furthermore, event sponsors are encouraged to share their underlying motivation to support the CSE and invite employees to volunteer at the event. Future research should collect longitudinal data from event participants and use the scroll back method to examine CSE sponsorship programmes. Scholars should also adopt physiological measures as a complementary data source to self-reported data to create a more holistic understanding of CSE sponsorship. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Faced with fiscal pressure and concerns over bureaucratic inefficiency, policymakers at Australia’s state government level are evaluating instruments to improve social housing services. A public–private partnerships (PPPs) procurement approach is one such instrument for increasing housing supply to address housing affordability in Australia. To determine the value of pursuing a project through a PPP delivery versus a traditional procurement approach, public administrators need to determine discount rates for comparing different cash flows streams on a consistent basis. Additionally, they must estimate public sector comparator (PSC) to determine public sector’s risk exposure in social housing delivery and allocating constrained housing budgets. This research assesses the discount rates and estimates the risk profile of social housing delivery faced by public agencies. Three case studies were utilised to present project estimate probability distributions for gaining insight into risk exposure in social housing delivery and helping housing budget allocation at the state government level. The findings recommend the use of an estimated 30-year treasury bond rate (3.14%) as the PSC discount rate for social infrastructure. Additionally, the results suggest the use of a PPP discount rate for social housing of 6.01%, given a risk-free rate of 3.14% and a systematic risk premium of 2.87%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The aim of this study was to explore whether Taiwanese hospitality workers' gender moderates the relationship between perceived ethnic diversity levels within their workplace and work-related outcomes at an individual employee level. Data were collected from 371 employees across 26 hotels in Taiwan. The results supported mediation effects of job satisfaction and affective commitment on the relationship between perceived ethnic diversity and employees' turnover intention. Gender moderated the relationships between perceived diversity and job satisfaction, affective commitment and the relationships between job satisfaction and turnover intention. This study highlights the importance of ethnic diversity impacts on employee work outcomes within Asian hospitality organizations, specifically in Taiwan. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Increasing interest in poverty alleviation at the beginning of twenty-first century has facilitated the rapid growth of various anti-poverty tourism interventions (ATIs) around the globe. The tourism-poverty alleviation link, however, is still not well established, partly due to a paucity of appropriate evaluation approaches that are capable of simultaneously providing researchers, practitioners and policy-makers with a deeper understanding of an ATI’s mechanisms, the complexity surrounding its operational processes and evidence of its impacts. Additionally, ATI stakeholders’ values and influences play a significant role in ATI evaluation yet their perspectives are often overlooked. Theory of Change (ToC) has the potential to generate a holistic picture of an ATI, as this innovative approach has been developed to connect stakeholders’ theories of context with the mechanisms and outcomes of an intervention. Utilizing a case study of microfinance tourism in Vietnam, this paper provides readers with insight into ToC and proposes a conceptual framework which guides the application of ToC to facilitate the effective evaluation of ATIs.
