Abstract The search for prognostic markers in breast cancer has bumped into a typical feature of these tumors, intra and intertumoral heterogeneity. Changes in the expression profile, localization of these proteins or shedding to the surrounding stroma can be useful in the search for new markers. In this context, classification by molecular subtypes can bring perspectives for both diagnosis and screening for appropriate treatments. However, the Triple Negative (TN) subtype, which is already the one with the worst prognosis, lacks appropriate and consistent molecular markers. In this work, we analyzed 346 human breast cancer samples in tissue microarrays (TMA) from cases diagnosed with invasive breast carcinoma to assess the expression and localization pattern of Maspin and their correlation with clinical parameters. To complement our findings, we also used TCGA data to analyze the mRNA levels of these respective genes. Our data suggests that the TN subtype demonstrates a higher level of cytoplasmic Maspin compared to the other subtypes. Maspin transcript levels follow the same trend. However, TN patients with lower Maspin expression tend to have worse overall survival and free-survival metastasis rates. Finally, we used Maspin expression data to verify possible relationships with the clinicopathological information of our cohort. Our univariate analyses indicate that Maspin is related to the expression of estrogen receptor (ER) and progesterone receptor (PR). Furthermore, Maspin expression levels also showed correlation with Scarff-Bloom-Richardson (SBR) parameter, and stromal Maspin showed a relationship with lymph node involvement. Our data is not consistently robust enough to categorize Maspin as a prognostic marker. However, it does indicate a change in the expression profile within the TN subtype.

Abstract: Aim i) to characterize the composition of the Cladocera species hatched from the resting eggs of permanently hydrated and temporarily dehydrated sediments; ii) to test whether periodic dehydration reduces the hatching of the resting eggs. Methods Cladocera resting eggs were collected from the sediment of Tupé lake, Amazonas, Brazil. Sampling was performed in the dry season, when the sediment was found in two conditions: Permanently Hydrated Sediment (PHS) in the lake main channel and Temporarily Dehydrated Sediment (TDS) on the margin. Hatching was experimented through a temperature of 24 °C (± 2 °C) and a photoperiod of 12h light: 12h dark, for 20 days. Results Eight Cladocera taxa were counted among the two sediments. In PHS five taxa (one exclusive) were identified and seven taxa (three exclusive) occurred in TDS. The comparison of the hatching rate of Cladocera eggs between TDS (0.36 ± 0.48%) and PHS (0.32 ± 0.49%) was not significant (GLM: χ21= 0.012; P > 0.05; Pseudo-R2M= 0.0006). Conclusions The hypothesis that periodic dehydration of Cladocera resting eggs reduces egg hatching has been refuted. This leads us to conclude that natural periodic dehydration does not affect the hatching of resistance eggs, therefore, resistance eggs, as already reported in the literature are an important mechanism for the maintenance and success of organisms in environments, even undergoing profound changes caused due to the large variation in water levels that occur in Amazon rivers and associated environments.

O objetivo deste artigo é identificar a produção acadêmica na área de administração com relação à temática da bissexualidade. Foram analisados artigos retirados da SPELL, importante base de dados em administração brasileira, através do método de revisão integrativa da literatura, não sendo identificado artigo que abordasse exclusivamente bissexuais, apesar de a base de dados em questão contar com mais de 67 mil arquivos. Pôde-se perceber a secundariedade e certa invisibilidade da temática bissexuais em estudos de administração, que apenas foi encontrada em duas categorias: (1) cita e desenvolve parte do texto sobre bissexuais e (2) apenas cita bissexuais quando fala do acrônimo LGBT, sugerindo-se, assim, expansão da abordagem do assunto na área, de maneira a trazer mais destaque tanto para a bissexualidade, quanto para a diversidade interseccional dos indivíduos bissexuais.

Golden-Dewdrop (Duranta erecta L.), known for its landscaping applications, undergoes successive pruning to maintain its ornamental structure, a practice known to induce numerous physiological and chemical responses in the plant. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the influence of pruning and different extraction methods on the allelopathic potential of Golden-Dewdrop on the germination and initial growth of lettuce. Leaf extracts were obtained by decoction (hot) and maceration (cold) at concentrations of 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100%, with distilled water as a negative control. Phytochemical screening of the extracts was performed for phenolic compounds, flavonoids, anthocyanidins, tannins, cardioactive heterosides, saponins, alkaloids, and terpenes. For the bioassay, germinative and morphological parameters were measured and characterized. The data were subjected to analysis of variance (ANOVA), and for quantitative data, regression models were adjusted, while for qualitative data, means were compared using the Scott-Knott test with 5% significance. Significant differences were observed between extraction methods and management practices, with the hot aqueous extract from pruned plants significantly reducing germination at higher concentrations. The initial growth of lettuce was severely affected, presenting numerous morphological abnormalities, with severe damage to the root system at all concentrations. This study suggests that pruning practices have a modulating effect on the allelopathic activity of Golden-Dewdrop, providing valuable information for landscaping projects and botanical studies considering its evaluation and production of phytotoxic phytochemicals.

O sentido do trabalho desempenha um papel fundamental na satisfação, motivação e bem-estar do indivíduo. Asprimeiras pesquisas relacionadas ao tema sentido do trabalho demonstram o impacto do trabalho e o seu sentido na vida do homem. Um trabalho que tem sentido é fonte de segurança e independência, principalmente em relação às condições de trabalho, pois necessitam equilibrar sua qualidade de vida com o trabalho. Analisando o sentido do trabalho e refletindo sobre os passos dados dentro da pesquisa de Ciências Sociais voltadas às organizações entendemos anecessidade de aprofundar o tema em uma visão humanista e voltada radicalmente para o indivíduo. O objetivo desse ensaio é pensar o sentido do trabalho por meio de uma abordagem humanística à luz dos pensamentos de Prestes Motta e Guerreiro Ramos. Prestes Motta se destaca ao abordar as questões do ser humano e sua psique como uma importante contribuição para as organizações. De forma oculta e ao mesmo tempo exposta o homem se vê dentro do ambiente de socialização humana cada vez mais distante do propósito que o faz crescer e realmente encontrar o sentido do seu trabalho e destino. A partir da obra de Ramos percebe-se que a autonomia é essencial para a percepção de sentido no trabalho e as práticas organizacionais devem incentivar a participação ativa dos funcionários nas decisões e proporcionar um espaço para ideias e opiniões. Promover uma cultura organizacional saudável e valorizar a individualidade dos colaboradores contribui para o desenvolvimento de sentidos do trabalho mais positivos.

Objective:Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) has high relapse rates due to dysregulated inflammatory signaling pathways and significant changes in the tumor microenvironment, probably influencing the failure of several therapies. The Cysteinyl Leukotriene Receptor 1 (CYSLTR1), a leukotriene modulator of inflammation, has been shown to play an important role in cancer pathogenesis and survival but few studies have been reported on its role in breast cancer.Materials and Methods:The present work was conducted using publicly available platforms that have omics data to assess the clinical potential of CYSLTR1 expression and its prognostic validation in large cohorts of samples from breast cancer patients. Web platforms containing clinical information, RNA-seq and protein data were selected to perform in silico analyses of the potential marker CYLSTR1. Abstract Several studies have demonstrated the cost-effectiveness of genetic testing for surveillance and treatment of carriers of germline pathogenic variants associated with hereditary breast/ovarian cancer syndrome (HBOC). In Brazil, seventy percent of the population is assisted by the public Unified Health System (SUS), where genetic testing is still unavailable. And few studies were performed regarding the prevalence of HBOC pathogenic variants in this context. Here, we estimated the prevalence of germline pathogenic variants in BRCA1, BRCA2 and TP53 genes in Brazilian patients suspected of HBOC and referred to public healthcare service. Predictive power of risk prediction models for detecting mutation carriers was also evaluated. We found that 41 out of 257 tested patients (15.9%) were carriers of pathogenic variants in the analyzed genes. Most frequent pathogenic variant was the founder Brazilian mutation TP53 c.1010G > A (p.Arg337His), adding to the accumulated evidence that supports inclusion of TP53 in routine testing of Brazilian HBOC patients. Surprisingly, BRCA1 c.5266dupC (p.Gln1756fs), a frequently reported pathogenic variant in Brazilian HBOC patients, was not observed. Regarding the use of predictive models, we found that familial history of cancer might be used to improve selection or prioritization of patients for genetic testing, especially in a context of limited resources.

Objective:Breast cancer is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in women worldwide. This malignant neoplasm can be classified into four clinically relevant subtypes according to the expression of a number of biomarkers. However, these tumors show considerable intratumoral heterogeneity and multidrug resistance. Members of the pleckstrin homology-like domain, family B (PHLDB) play a critical role in the regulation of p53 and AKT signaling pathways, important for cancer and cellular metabolism. The present study was performed to evaluate the expression pattern of PHLDB family members in breast cancer and its potential prognostic and predictive value for therapeutic response using bioinformatics tools.Materials and Methods:This in silico analysis was performed using several online repositories, including UALCAN, GEPIA2, bc-GenExMiner, KM Plotter, PrognoScan and ROC Plotter.Results:PHLDB family genes were found to be differentially expressed in tumor samples when compared to healthy breast tissue samples. The article seeks to understand how religious organizations of African origin, through the cult of female deities, value women and what are the social impacts on their lives. The research corpus was composed of the transcription of the six interviews and were analyzed according to the methodological orientation of the content analysis. It´s understood that the cult of deities provide women with the construction of an identity that seeks to break with machismo and to place women as a subject full of force, both magical and social and biological, since they are the extension of the deities themselves as well as those who control life.

Homologous recombination is a crucial pathway that is specialized in repairing double-strand breaks; thus, alterations in genes of this pathway may lead to loss of genomic stability and cell growth suppression. Pesticide exposure potentially increases cancer risk through several mechanisms, such as the genotoxicity caused by chronic exposure, leading to gene alteration. To analyze this hypothesis, we investigated if breast cancer patients exposed to pesticides present a different mutational pattern in genes related to homologous recombination (BRCA1, BRCA2, PALB2, and RAD51D) and damage-response (TP53) concerning unexposed patients. We performed multiplex PCR-based assays and next-generation sequencing (NGS) of all coding regions and flanking splicing sites of BRCA1, BRCA2, PALB2, TP53, and RAD51D in 158 unpaired tumor samples from breast cancer patients on MiSeq (Illumina) platform. We found that exposed patients had tumors with more pathogenic and likely pathogenic variants than unexposed patients (p = 0.017). In general, tumors that harbored a pathogenic or likely pathogenic variant had a higher mutational burden (p < 0.001). We also observed that breast cancer patients exposed to pesticides had a higher mutational burden when diagnosed before 50 years old (p = 0.00978) and/or when carrying BRCA1 (p = 0.0138), BRCA2 (p = 0.0366), and/or PALB2 (p = 0.00058) variants, a result not found in the unexposed group. Our results show that pesticide exposure impacts the tumor mutational landscape and could be associated with the carcinogenesis process, therapy response, and disease progression. Further studies should increase the observation period in exposed patients to better evaluate the impact of these findings.

Homosexuals are often treated as minorities or excluded, as well as other marginalized categories of society. They are subjected to social control by a large hegemonic group, which determines what is considered "normal" in society (Pereira, 2009). In this sense, this work aims to understand the stigmatization of femininity in organizations, from the perspective of the gay subjects. Nine (9) male gay subjects were interviewed, all from the state of Rio de Janeiro. The interviewed subjects are involved in different professional activities, with different levels of education. The corpus of the research was analyzed through content analysis. It has been found that the stigma of femininity can be understood from the moment that the "feminine being" is seen as inferior to man by society and organizations, through the use of words or means of behavior in order to maintain the masculine heteronormative power.

No contexto organizacional, o sujeito gay é alvo de preconceito e de situações que o colocam em posição de constrangimento e vulnerabilidade. A partir dessa constatação, este artigo busca desvelar como os gays afeminados são percebidos por outros gays no ambiente de trabalho. Em termos metodológicos, o presente artigo possui caráter qualitativo e o corpus da pesquisa foi produzido a partir de entrevistas com nove indivíduos gays inseridos em organizações públicas e privadas. No que tange à análise do corpus, optou-se pela análise crítica do discurso. Concluiu-se, a partir das entrevistas, que o sujeito carregando traços considerados afeminados é compreendido como alguém menos capaz para o trabalho. Ademais, a masculinidade é vista como um atributo necessário para a inserção do indivíduo no ambiente organizacional.

A obra de Angela Ales Bello tem como objetivo analisar a constituição do sagrado nas religiões arcaicas e complexas. Para tanto, a filósofa italiana trata de salvaguardar suas premissas na busca pela compreensão da experiência religiosa no espaço-tempo. Em primeira instância, traz o argumento que discute tal experiência, tanto no terreno de sua aceitação, quanto no movimento de sua negação, constatando que ela é algo a ser vivenciado, isto é, de vivência (Erlebnis). Em seguida, apresenta os pressupostos metodológicos para o estudo do sagrado e do religioso. Diante das possiblidades analíticas em torno da religião, Ales Bello assume o caminho fenomenológico, buscando contribuir para um repensar e aprofundar as estruturas internas do sagrado. Também atravessa o âmbito da Antropologia e da História das Religiões, de modo que a experiência humana do religare com o Sacro possa ser compreendida.

In the face of changes in the demographic profile of Brazilian population with the increase in the number of elderly people, the subject population aging has been extensively studied by areas of Human and Health Sciences. There is still a big gap regarding to these studies in the area of administration. The goal of this article is to understand the meaning of work for elderly professor of higher education. In order to support the study, theories are redeemed about the centrality of work, aging and meaning of work, retirement and on teaching. The research is qualitative and data were collected through field research. The corpus of interviewees was composed of 16 teachers. The interviews were analyzed in depth by the method of content analysis. It could be perceived that the work for the interviewees is something very important, that retirement is unwanted and feared and that teachers feel prejudice at work because of their age. In existing gender relations in the workplace, showed the existence of prejudice is not declared by the men against the women work.

O corpo não é uma máquina como relata a biologia, nem objeto de pecado como afirmam algumas religiões. Mas sim um local político onde é possível expressar o gênero, a identidade, as normas de determinadas sociedades e até mesmo a cultura. Exposto isso o presente artigo visa compreender como o consumo de suplementos alimentares, por parte de determinado grupo identitário gay, colaboram com a construção da identidade dos Barbies através do corpo. O corpus da pesquisa foi construído através da seleção de trechos das matérias publicadas no site Super Pride no ano de 2016. A Seleção dos trechos foram feitas de acordo com a temática proposta no presente artigo. foi possível verificar que existem diversas estratégias que auxiliam na construção das identidades dos indivíduos, e uma dessas é a comida. Esta permite que os sujeitos construam o seu “eu”, em específico os barbies, considerando que esses indivíduos constroem seus corpos através do “culto ao corpo”, ao qual objetivam o crescimento e definição dos músculos.

ABSTRACT The objective of this article was to estimate the genetic variability and selection gain in the characters related with fruits in assai palms, 68 progenies collected in populations from Afuá city and planted in Amapá state were evaluated. The experiment was conducted in random blocks with two replications and four useful plants per plot. The following characters were evaluated: fruit longitudinal diameter (DLF), the fruit greatest transversal diameter (DTMA), the smallest fruit diameter (DTME); mass from one hundred fruits (P100) and, in bunches: total fruit mass (PTC). There are differences between progenies, denoting the possibility of selection gains. In general, the inheritabilities were medium or high for the characters, but always lower for PTC. The coefficient CVg/CVe was favorable in DTMA and DTME and unfavorable to PTC; the correlations between characters were positive and significant, the selection gain was 16.65% for PTC and from -1.29% to -7.60% in the other characters; the selected progenies were able to associate the desired values in the evaluated characters. The obtained conclusions were that there is high environmental contribution in the phenotypic manifestation of the progenies once the fruit metric dimensions had lower environmental effects and higher genetic effect; there is possibility of genetic gains which are important to breeding programs of this species using the characters simultaneously, although the values had been low, mainly due to the positive correlation presence, where there is preference for reduced fruit size with productivity increase.

Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-positive patients have a greater prevalence of coinfection with human papillomavirus (HPV) is of high oncogenic risk. Indeed, the presence of the virus favours intraepithelial squamous cell lesion progression and may induce cancer. The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of HPV infection, distribution of HPV types and risk factors among HIV-positive patients. Cervical samples from 450 HIV-positive patients were analysed with regard to oncotic cytology, colposcopy and HPV presence and type by means of polymerase chain reaction and sequencing. The results were analysed by comparing demographic data and data relating to HPV and HIV infection. The prevalence of HPV was 47.5%. Among the HPV-positive samples, 59% included viral types of high oncogenic risk. Multivariate analysis showed an association between HPV infection and the presence of cytological alterations (p = 0.003), age greater than or equal to 35 years (p = 0.002), number of partners greater than three (p = 0.002), CD4+ lymphocyte count < 200/mm3 (p = 0.041) and alcohol abuse (p = 0.004). Although high-risk HPV was present in the majority of the lesions studied, the low frequency of HPV 16 (3.3%), low occurrence of cervical lesions and preserved immunological state in most of the HIV-positive patients were factors that may explain the low occurrence of precancerous cervical lesions in this population.

O presente artigo tem como objetivo analisar os efeitos do uso de computadores e outras tecnologias de informação e comunicação nas escolas. Para isso, avalia-se a primeira etapa de um programa que distribuiu computadores e outros acessórios de informática e treinou professores de escolas pertencentes a municípios com baixo IDH. Estimou-se o impacto do programa sobre variáveis de desempenho dos alunos e variáveis de recursos nas escolas. Como resultado, observa-se que, a despeito do aumento significativo do acesso aos laboratórios de informática e ciência pelas escolas participantes, o impacto do programa no curto prazo tende a ser negativo sobre o desempenho dos alunos da 4ª e 8ª séries do ensino fundamental. Contudo, para alunos da 4ª série, esse resultado negativo fica menor em termos absolutos ao longo do tempo, indicando que parece haver um efeito de longo prazo positivo, porém pequeno, entre crianças mais novas e expostas às novas tecnologias de informação. Tal resultado não é encontrado para a 8ª série, onde foram verificados resultados de longo prazo nulos ou negativos, indicando que crianças mais velhas, quando expostas a tecnologias de informação nas escolas, não apresentam ganhos de aprendizado.This paper analyzes the effects of using computers and other information and communication technologies in schools. For this, we evaluate the first stage of a program that distributed computers and other computer accessories and trained teachers from schools belonging to municipalities with low HDI. We estimate the program’s impact on student performance variables and school resources variables. As a result, we find that despite the significant increase in access to computer and science labs by participant schools, the program’s impact in the short term is negative on performance of students of grades 4th and 8th. However, for students in 4th grade, this negative result is smaller over time, indicating that there seems to be a long term positive effect, although small, between younger children and exposed to new information technologies. This result is not found for the 8th grade, where we find longterm outcomes null or negative, indicating that older children, when exposed to information technology in schools, do not exhibit learning gains.

This article discusses the use of the image in Geography and in particular photography with regard to the role given to visual experience in the constitution of the discipline. In addition to the literature on the importance of image in the production, dissemination and teaching of geographical knowledge, a dialogue is established with authors who question the use of photography in the context of fieldwork and research in Social Sciences. The discussion from the perspective of the use of images suggests a tension that permeates Geography, whose research procedures vary from completely controlling sensory experience at one extreme to giving priority to distinct experiences related to space at the other extreme.

INTRODUCTION: Persistence of cervical infection caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) types with high oncogenic risk may lead to cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN). The aim of the present study was to evaluate whether, in HIV-positive women, the presence of aneuploidy in cervical cell samples is associated with presence and evolution of CIN. METHODS: The present study had two stages. In the first stage, comprising a cross-sectional study, the association between the presence of aneuploidy seen via flow cytometry and sociodemographic characteristics, habits and characteristics relating to HPV and HIV infection was analyzed. In the second stage, comprising a cohort study, it was investigated whether aneuploidy was predictive of CIN evolution. RESULTS: No association was observed between the presence of aneuploidy and HPV infection, or between its presence and alterations seen in oncotic cytological analysis. On the other hand, aneuploidy was associated with the presence of CIN (p = 0.030) in histological analysis and with nonuse of antiretroviral therapy (p = 0.001). Most of the HIV-positive women (234/272) presented normal CD4+ T lymphocyte counts (greater than 350 cells/mm3) and showed a greater aneuploidy regression rate (77.5%) than a progression rate (23.9%) over a follow-up of up to two years. CONCLUSION: Although there was an association between the presence of cervical tissue lesions and the DNA index, the latter was not predictive of progression of the cervical lesion. This suggests that progression of the cervical lesion to cancer in HIV-positive women may also be changed through improvement of the immunological state enabled by using antiretroviral therapy.

Would the effeminate boy be an outsider or a fruit that grew far from the tree? Understanding the trajectory of a male child with effeminate traits can unveil practices of various institutions regarding boys and men with these characteristics, bringing to light organizational practices that are not limited to homophobia but also to “effeminophobia.” This autoethnography is an exercise in reclaiming one's own history, marked by violent exclusions, domination, and subjugation, with the aim of explaining how heterosexual normativity impacts the bodies and subjectivities of effeminate individuals. This account begins in the 1990s in the city of Barra do Piraí, a locality located in the interior of Rio de Janeiro, which was governed by male domination and influenced by a colonial culture. In this context, it is important to note that I do not consider it possible to define a period for analysis in terms of years, but rather within a biological time frame, encompassing the stages of life. Therefore, this delimitation begins in childhood and extends into adulthood. This autoethnography is dedicated to discussing effeminophobia directed toward children and adults in various institutions, especially in the workplace. To do so, it utilizes the social and professional trajectory of a young gay man who managed to become an adult. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract Specific pathogenic mutations associated with breast cancer development can vary between ethnical groups. One example is BRCA1 c.5266dupC that was first described as a founder mutation in the Ashkenazi Jewish population, but was later also found in other populations. In Brazil, this mutation corresponds to 20% of pathogenic BRCA1 variants reported. Our objective was to investigate the haplotype component of a group of Brazilian families who inherited c.5266dupC in the BRCA1 gene and to verify the ancestry contribution from European, African, and Amerindian origins. Fourteen probands carrying c.5266dupC and 16 relatives (carriers and non-carriers) were investigated. The same haplotype was observed segregating within all the families analyzed, revealing no recombinants in a region of 0.68 Mb. Ancestry analysis demonstrated that the European component was predominant among probands. The BRCA1 c.5266dupC analysis indicates that there was a founder effect in the Brazilian population.
