Hormone-based reproductive management programs can be beneficial to improve dairy cow's reproductive performance. This study aimed to compare the economic impact of reproductive management programs using systematic hormonal treatments to individual cows with a specific DIM range, with a reproductive management program using cow-specific hormonal treatment based on a veterinary diagnosis of ovarian dysfunction during a fertility check. An existing individual cow-based, dynamic, and stochastic bio-economic simulation model, mimicking the production dynamics of a 200 cow-herd in daily time steps, was extended with ovarian dysfunction and fertility inputs. Four hormone-based reproductive management programs were modeled. In the default reproductive management program, reflecting the current reproductive management of Dutch herds, lactating dairy cows are inseminated based on detection of estrus and noncyclic dairy cows are treated with hormones based on a veterinary diagnosis of ovarian dysfunction during a fertility check. Hormone treatments prescribed by the veterinarian for anestrus, cystic, and subestrus cows were an 8-d progesterone-releasing intravaginal device (PRID)-synch protocol (PRIDsynch), an Ovsynch protocol, and a PGF 2α treatment, respectively. The 3 other reproductive management programs reflected systematic hormonal treatments to cows at specific DIM and included (1) a Double-Ovsynch protocol for times AI (TAI) with nonpregnant cows submitted to a resynchronization protocol (FTAI), (2) a Double-Ovsynch protocol for TAI with nonpregnant cows detected in estrus or submitted to a resynchronization protocol (FTAI+ED), and (3) detection of estrus with cows not detected submitted to a PRIDsynch protocol (ED+TAI). All nonpregnant cows were submitted to a resynchronization protocol based on the absence (PRIDsynch) or presence (Ovsynch protocol) of a corpus luteum. The annual mean net economic return (NER) was calculated for all reproductive management programs. Compared with the default reproductive management program, the highest NER was observed for the FTAI+ED reproductive management program with €23,764 higher net revenues, followed by the FTAI and the ED+TAI reproductive management programs with €19,550 and €14,314 higher net revenues, respectively. Overall, systematic hormone-based reproductive management programs gave higher costs due to more hormones administered and higher calving and feed costs due to more pregnant cows. Nevertheless, the additional revenues of milk and calves in the systematic hormone-based reproductive management programs outweighed the total cost. For instance, the FTAI+ED reproductive management program gave €8,953 higher total cost per year compared with the default but with €32,654 higher revenues. In summary, reproductive management programs where hormones were systematically used gave economic advantages over the current default reproductive management program in which hormones are administered to individual cows based on a veterinary diagnosis of ovarian dysfunction during a fertility check. Objective: Reproductive hormones might impact disease course in cognitive decline. We examined the association between male and female endogenous reproductive hormones and subjective cognitive decline (SCD) score. Design, Patients and Measurements: A cross‐sectional study design was used with baseline data from the Pingyin cohort study, involving 1943 participants aged 45–70 years. Oestrogen (E2), testosterone, follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) were measured in females and E2 and testosterone were measured in males. We categorised hormones into three levels of low, intermediate and high level. The 9‐item subjective cognitive decline questionnaire (SCD‐Q9) scores were collected to assess the symptoms of SCD. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to estimate odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence interval (CI) between categorised hormone levels and SCD status. Multivariable linear regression models were also used. Results: Overall, 1943 participants were involved and 1285 (66.1%) were female. The mean age at baseline was 59.1 (standard deviation 7.1) years. Women with high testosterone levels had a higher probability of having SCD compared with those with low testosterone levels (OR 1.43, 95% CI 1.01–2.05). Men with a high level of testosterone (0.59, 0.35–0.98) and high testosterone/E2 ratio (0.55, 0.33–0.90) were related to decreased chances of having SCD. Each one‐unit increase of testosterone was linked to reduced SCD score in males [(β: −.029, 95% CI (−0.052, −0.007)]. Conclusion: There was sex‐specific relationship between hormone levels and SCD abnormal. Those with higher testosterone levels in females may increase likelihood of experiencing SCD. Males with higher testosterone levels and higher testosterone/E2 ratio may be associated with reduced likelihood of SCD. Letrozole (LTZ) is an aromatase inhibitor that limits estrogen (E2) production and increases testosterone (T) levels. This research aimed to examine the impact of a single dose of LTZ on testicular hemodynamics, ejaculation time, and semen quality in goats under heat stress (HS). Therefore, Doppler examination and semen evaluation were performed on twelve mature bucks for two weeks (W-1, W-2) as pre-heat stress control during winter. Then during summer HS bucks were subjected to Doppler examination, semen evaluation, and hormonal analysis (T, E2, and LH) at 0 h. Afterward, bucks were assigned into two groups and subcutaneously injected with physiological saline (n = 6; CON) or LTZ (0.25 mg/kg BW; n = 6; LTZ). Both groups were subjected to Doppler scanning and hormonal analysis at 2, 4, 24, 48, 72, 96,144, and 168 h. Semen evaluation was performed at 48 and 168 h. The LTZ group showed increasing (P < 0.05) in semen volume, sperm motility, and viability and decreasing (P < 0.05) in ejaculation time and sperm abnormalities compared to CON group at 48 h. Additionally, T concentrations increased (P < 0.01) at 2, 24, and 48 h, E2 decreased (P < 0.01) from 2 to 48 h, and LH raised (P < 0.01) at 2 and 72 h in LTZ group compared to CON one. It is, however, less well‐described how various specific testicular histopathologies are linked to reproductive hormones and semen quality.To describe the detailed relationship between specific testicular histopathologies and the serum concentrations of reproductive hormones and semen quality.Descriptive histological patterns on testicular biopsies from 4245 patients referred for andrological workup in our clinic between 1990 and 2022 were grouped according to a published histological coding system: (1) complete spermatogenesis (completeSPG, n = 3171), (2) reduced spermatogenesis (reducedSPG, n = 657), (3) heterogeneous (hetArrest, n = 226), and (4) homogeneous (homArrest, n = 191) spermatogenic arrest at the spermatocyte or spermatid stage. As a proxy for the number of spermatogonia, spermatocytes, and spermatids, immunohistochemical staining for MAGE‐A4, PIWIL1, and TNP1 were quantified on a representative set of biopsies (n = 100). Serum concentrations of FSH, LH, T, SHBG, and inhibin B (n = 1813) and semen parameters (n = 833) were available.Compared with the completeSPG group, the number of spermatogonia was only reduced in the hetArrest group, while the number of spermatocytes and spermatids were lower in all groups. All groups had significantly higher FSH and LH and lower T, free T, and inhibin B concentrations when compared with the completeSPG group, except for the homArrest group, where inhibin B was unaffected. The hetArrest group had the lowest number of germ cells, the most pronounced change in reproductive hormones, and the lowest sperm counts. Simple Summary: The lack of in-depth research and development on specialized functional feed for broodstock gonad maturation represents a significant obstacle to the industrialization of Macrobrachium rosenbergii breeding. The potential of Antarctic krill oil to promote ovarian development in crustaceans has been established; however, the optimal application dose and potential regulatory mechanism in M. rosenbergii remain unclear. This study established a gradient addition of Antarctic krill oil (0%, 1.5%, 3%, 4.5%, and 6%) for a period of eight weeks. Antarctic krill oil supplementation in the range of 3–4.5% resulted in a significant promotion of ovarian development, vitellogenesis, and reproductive hormone synthesis. The retinol metabolic signaling pathway, methyl farnesoate (MF) signaling pathway, steroid hormone signaling pathway, and ecdysone signaling pathway along with their specific molecules were found to be involved in the regulation of ovarian development of M. rosenbergii with the use of Antarctic krill oil. The results demonstrate that the 4.5% supplementation Antarctic krill oil in the diet is optimal for stimulating the secretion of reproductive hormones in female M. rosenbergii, thereby promoting vitellogenesis and ovarian development. Antarctic krill oil has been proven to be able to promote the ovarian development of crustaceans, but its optimal application dose and potential regulatory mechanism in Macrobrachium rosenbergii are still unclear. In this study, five isonitrogenous and isolipidic diets with gradient additions of Antarctic krill oil (0%, 1.5%, 3%, 4.5%, and 6%) were served exposed to 8 weeks of feeding. The results show that 3–4.5% Antarctic krill oil supplementation significantly increases the weight gain rate and specific growth rate of M. rosenbergii (p < 0.05). In addition, 3–4.5% Antarctic krill oil supplementation significantly increased the content of hemolymph vitellogenin (VTG) and the levels of reproductive hormones, including methyl farnesoate (MF), estradiol (E2), and progesterone (P4) (p < 0.05). The differences in ovarian index, oocyte volume, yolk granule deposition in oocytes, and the transcription levels of VTG genes in hepatopancreas and ovarian tissues demonstrated that the addition of Antarctic krill oil significantly promoted ovarian development and vitellogenesis, especially at the 4.5% addition level. In terms of molecular signaling, this study confirms that the retinol metabolic signaling pathway, MF signaling pathway, steroid hormone signaling pathway, and ecdysone signaling pathway, along with their specific molecules, such as Farnesoic acid-O-methyltransferase (FAMeT), retinoid x receptor (RXR), ecdysone receptor (EcR), and estrogen-related receptor (ERR), are involved in the regulation of the ovarian development of M. rosenbergii by adding Antarctic krill oil at appropriate doses. Reproductive deficiency is a major outcome of pesticide exposure sequel to cellular oxidative damage to sex organs. Flavonoid possess potent antioxidant capacities to mitigate pesticide related cellular injury. The present investigation examined the mitigative effect of micronized purified fractions of diosmin and hesperidin on reproductive hormones, sperm parameters, and testicular glycogen in male Wistar rats after sub-chronic Chlorpyriphos (CPF) exposure. Twenty-five male Wistar rats (120-145 g) were randomly allocated five rats per group. Group I (DW) received distilled water (2 ml/kg), Group II (S/oil) received soya oil (2 ml/kg), Group III (DAF) received Daflon at 1000 mg/kg, Group IV (CPF) received Chlorpyriphos (7.74 mg/kg), and Group V (DAF + CPF) received Daflon (1000 mg/kg) followed by CPF (7.74 mg/kg) after 30 min of Daflon. This regimen was administered daily for 60 days. After cervical venesection under light chloroform anesthesia, blood samples were examined for levels of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), and testosterone. Each rat's testicular tissue was quickly cut, collected, and glycogen evaluated. Sperm concentration, motility, morphology, and viability were measured in the right caudal epididymis. Results revealed that the untreated CPF group had significantly lower FSH, LH, testosterone, testicular glycogen, and sperm concentration. Additionally, CPF group sperm characteristics were abnormal compared to other groups. These reproductive hormones, testicular glycogen, and sperm parameters improved in the Daflon-treated groups. The study aimed to investigate the effects of different levels of isoleucine in the diet on the testicular growth and development, antioxidant function, and reproductive hormone levels in weaned piglets. A total of 18 weaned piglets at the age of 28 days were randomly divided into three groups with six replicates per group and one piglet per replicate. The dietary isoleucine levels in all groups were 0.8%, 1.0%, and 1.2%, respectively. The trial period was 21 days. The results showed that compared with 0.8% isoleucine group (control group), testis size and weight in 1.0% isoleucine group were significantly increased (P<0.05), the cross-sectional area and circumferential length of convoluted seminiferous tubule in 1.0% and 1.2% isoleucine groups were significantly increased (P<0.05). The activity of glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) in testicular tissue of 1.0% isoleucine group was significantly increased (P<0.05), and the content of malondialdehyde (MDA) was significantly decreased (P<0.05). The 1.0% isoleucine group had significant regulation on the reproductive related indexes of hypothalamic-pituitary-testicular gonad axis. The results show that 1.0% isoleucine can alleviate oxidative stress caused by weanling of piglets, and affect the morphology and reproductive indexes of the testis of piglets by changing the level of reproductive hormone secretion in the gonadal axis of hypothalamic-pituitary-testicular tissue. 1. This study investigates the molecular mechanisms affecting brooding in Zhedong white geese by examining differences in reproductive endocrine levels, ovarian histology and transcriptomics. 2. Twenty 18-month-old Zhedong white geese were selected to examine their ovaries using histological, biochemical, molecular biological, and high-throughput sequencing techniques during the laying and brooding periods. 3. The results showed that the number of atretic follicles and apoptotic cells in the ovaries increased significantly (p < 0.05), the levels of follicle-stimulating hormone, luteinising hormone, gonadotropin-releasing hormone and oestradiol decreased significantly (p < 0.05), and the level of prolactin increased significantly (p < 0.01) during the brooding stage. 4. In broody geese, the expression of CASP3, CASP9, P53, BAX, and Cyt-c were considerably higher (p < 0.05), but BCL2 expression was significantly lower (p < 0.05). 5. In ovarian tissues, 260 differentially expressed lncRNAs, 13 differentially expressed miRNA and 60 differentially expressed mRNA were all discovered using transcriptome sequencing analysis. Background: Recent studies indicate that vitamin D impacts male reproductive function, with deficiency linked to infertility. This review evaluates the effect of vitamin D supplementation on male fertility, focusing on total testosterone, free testosterone, the free androgen index (FAI), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), sex-hormone-binding globulin (SHBG), and estradiol. Methods: We systematically searched Medline, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and Scopus from their inception until July 2024 for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) involving adult males. The primary focus of these studies was on reproductive hormone parameters, analyzed using a random-effects meta-analysis and weighted mean difference (WMD). Evidence quality was assessed using ROB2 and GRADE. Meta-regression and dose–response analyses were performed. Results: Seventeen studies met the criteria for quantitative analysis. Vitamin D supplementation significantly increased total testosterone levels (WMD 0.38, 95% CI 0.06–0.70, n = 15, I2 = 67.03). However, it had no significant effect on other hormone parameters: free testosterone (WMD 0.00, 95% CI −0.02–0.03, n = 9, I2 = 48.12), FSH (WMD −0.02, 95% CI −0.57–0.53, n = 7, I2 = 48.72), LH (WMD −0.09, 95% CI −0.30–0.12, n = 8, I2 = 0.00), SHBG (WMD 0.73, 95% CI −1.14–2.61, n = 10, I2 = 69.05), FAI (WMD −0.92, 95% CI −2.12–0.27, n = 6, I2 = 0.00), and estradiol (WMD −0.02, 95% CI −2.95–2.92, n = 5, I2 = 20.63). Conclusion: This meta-analysis shows that vitamin D supplementation may increase total testosterone levels in men. Tramadol is a pain killing drug highly used worldwide. There is a knowledge gap for fertility consequences of analgesic addiction in men. In this observational study, we investigated the hazards of tramadol abuse on human male reproductive function. A total of 30 tramadol addicts and 30 healthy controls have participated in the study. History and clinical examination of the included subjects were performed. Biochemical and molecular assays were measured in all participants include serum reproductive hormones (calculated free testosterone, FSH, LH, prolactin and estradiol) using ELISA techniques, semen analysis, seminal plasma zinc and selenium assays using colorimetric kits, seminal plasma tramadol concentrations using Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry (GC–MS), and seminal plasma 8-hydroxyguanosine (8-OHG) using high performance liquid chromatography were measured. Tramadol abuse significantly decreased semen parameters quality. Additionally, tramadol abuse significantly decreased testosterone (P = 0.001) and increased prolactin serum levels (P = 0.000). Tramadol abusers showed significantly higher levels of 8-OHG (P < 0.0001) with significantly lower levels of zinc and selenium in their seminal plasma compared with the controls (P < 0.0001, and 0.0002 respectively). Also, tramadol addicts displayed positive correlations between seminal plasma levels of 8-OHG (r = 0.905, P = 0.00) and sperm abnormal forms (r = 0.610, P = 0.000) with seminal plasma tramadol levels. Seminal plasma levels of zinc (r = − 0.815, P = 0.00), sperm motility (r = − 0.484, P = 0.007), and vitality (r = − 0.430, P = 0.018) were negatively correlated with seminal plasma levels of tramadol. Our data suggest that tramadol abuse may impair male fertility by increasing oxidative damage of sperms and reducing testosterone and the antioxidants trace elements in testicular tissues. Introduction: Despite the traditional use of Cucurbita pepo seed in pregnancy, its effects on female reproduction remain scarce. This study evaluated the impacts of n-hexane, dichloromethane (DCM), and aqueous ethanol extracts of C. pepo seed on the cyclicity and reproductive hormones of female Wistar rats. Methods: Ten groups of four rats received seed extracts or tween 80 orally for 21 days: A (control)= 0.5 mL tween 80 (vehicle); B, C, & D= 142.86, 285.71, and 428.57 mg/kg nHE; E, F, & G= 142.86, 285.71, 428.57 mg/kg of DCM; and H, I, & J= 142.86, 285.71, 428.57 mg/kg of aqueous ethanol extracts, respectively. Vaginal cytology monitored the estrous cycle daily, and blood samples were obtained for follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), estrogen, and progesterone at various oestrus cycle phases. ObjectiveTo analyze the effects of aryl organophosphate esters (aryl-OPEs) on female reproductive health. MethodsUrine samples from 571 women with infertility who sought in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer treatment at the Reproductive Center of Peking University People's Hospital from January 2018 to January 2021 were tested for concentrations of four aryl-OPE metabolites: diphenyl phosphate (DPHP), 4-hydroxyphenyl diphenyl phosphate (4-OH-TPHP), 2-ethyl-5-hydroxyhexyl diphenyl phosphate (5-OH-EHDPP), and 4-(hydroxymethyl)phenyl di-p-tolyl phosphate (4-OH-MDTP). Continuous independent variable data were converted into categorical variables, divided into four levels (Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4) using the 25th, 50th, and 75th percentiles as cut-off points. After reassigning values to the independent variables in each group, they were incorporated into the regression model as continuous variables for trend testing. Using multivariable linear mixed models, the correlations between aryl-OPE metabolite concentrations and reproductive hormones [estradiol (E2), progesterone (P), testosterone (T), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), and prolactin (PRL)] and infertility causes were assessed by adjusting for relevant covariates (age, BMI, smoking status, education level, infertility reason, and primary infertility diagnosis). ResultsThe detection rates of the four aryl-OPE metabolites were all > 80%. The results of the multivariable linear regression model showed that the concentrations of 4-OH-MDTP and 5-OH-EHDPP in urine were associated with decreased E2 levels (P < 0.05). The E2 level in the 4-OH-MDTP Q3 group was significantly lower by 20.59% compared to the Q1 group, and in the 5-OH-EHDPP Q4 group, it decreased by 34.52% compared to the Q1 group. The exposure concentrations of 4-OH-TPHP and DPHP showed a significant positive correlation with progesterone levels (P < 0.05). The progesterone level in the 4-OH-TPHP Q3 group was significantly increased by 42.42% compared to the Q1 group, and in the DPHP Q4 group, it was significantly increased by 32.85% compared to the Q1 group. In the analysis of infertility causes, the concentrations of 4-OH-TPHP and 4-OH-MDTP in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and endometriosis were significantly higher than those in women undergoing in vitro fertilization due to male factors. Moreover, the risk of PCOS and endometriosis increased in the 4-OH-TPHP and 4-OH-MDTP Q2-Q4 groups compared to the Q1 group. ConclusionAryl-OPEs can interfere with estrogen and progesterone levels in women. The parent compounds and metabolites may be associated with the occurrence of PCOS and endometriosis and could be one of the causes of infertility.

Objective: To explore the relationship between Hashimoto's autoimmune hypothyroidism (HT) and male fertility, focusing on hormonal and seminal factors. Methods: A systematic literature search was conducted across databases such as PubMed, Web of Science, EMBASE, Scopus, Cochrane, and Google Scholar, covering studies published from January 2000 to March 2024. Studies investigating the impact of HT on semen quality parameters and reproductive hormones were included. Pooled effect estimates were calculated using standard mean difference (SMD) and 95% confidence intervals (CI). Results: A total of 8 studies with 8965 participants were included. HT significantly affected semen quality and reproductive hormone levels. Specifically, there was a notable decrease in progressive morphology (SMD= -0.78; 95% CI: -1.40 to -0.17; P=0.01) and sperm motility (SMD= -1.151; 95% CI: -1.876 to -0.425; P=0.002). In addition, there were no significant changes in reproductive hormones, although there were elevated levels of luteinizing hormone (SMD=0.437; 95% CI: 0.000 to 0.874; P=0.050) and follicle-stimulating hormone (SMD=0.293; 95% CI: -0.171 to 0.758; P=0.216), with a slight impact on testosterone levels (SMD= -1.143; 95% CI: -2.487 to 0.200; P=0.095). Conclusions: This systematic review and meta-analysis provides robust evidence of the detrimental effects of HT on semen quality and reproductive hormones, underscoring the necessity for thorough evaluation and management of thyroid function in male infertility assessments.

Background: Reproductive hormones may be a risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD), but their influence is often underestimated. Obesity can exacerbate the progression of CVD. Arterial stiffness (AS) is correlated with the risk of CVD. Brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV) has served as a practical tool for assessing AS with broad clinical applications. This study aimed to investigate the association between reproductive hormones and baPWV in obese male and female subjects. Methods: A retrospective case–control design was designed. AS was assessed using baPWV, with a baPWV ≥ 1400 cm/s indicating increased AS. Between September 2018 and October 2022, 241 obese subjects with increased AS were recruited from Ningbo Yinzhou No. 2 Hospital. The control group consisted of 241 obese subjects without increased AS. A 1:1 propensity score matching was performed to correct potential confounders by age and sex. We additionally performed a sex-based sub-analysis. Results: Correlation analysis demonstrated that luteinizing hormone (LH) (r = 0.214, P = 0.001) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) (r = 0.328, P < 0.001) were positively correlated with baPWV in obese male subjects. In the multivariate conditional logistic regression analysis, FSH (OR = 1.407, 95% CI = 1.040–1.902, P = 0.027) rather than LH (OR = 1.210, 95% CI = 0.908–1.612, P = 0.194) was independently and positively associated with increased AS in obese male subjects. However, there was no significant correlation between reproductive hormones and baPWV in women. Conclusions: Our study identified FSH as a potential risk factor for arteriosclerosis in obese male subjects. This provides a novel and intriguing perspective on the pathogenesis of CVD in obese subjects.

There is a structural basis for invasion of the male reproductive system by the novel coronavirus and severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Current evidence suggests this virus can cause substantial damage to male testicles, leading to decreased testosterone levels, increased luteinizing hormone levels, and a decrease in sperm production and quality. Potential mechanisms for this damage include local inflammation of the testes, cytokine storms and fever. SARS-CoV-2 has strong transmissive ability, and its impact on the male reproductive system deserves attention. In view of the limited existing research, the aim of this study was to review the impact of the novel coronavirus on male reproduction and the potential mechanism.

Background/Objectives: Infertility constitutes a significant challenge for couples around the world. Ovarian dysfunction, a major cause of infertility, can manifest with anovulatory cycles, elevated follicle-stimulating hormone levels, and diminished ovarian reserve markers such as anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) levels or the Antral Follicle Count (AFC). Blood-derived therapies including platelet-rich plasma (PRP) have been used in fertility treatments in women with low ovarian reserve or premature ovarian insufficiency. This prospective clinical cohort study aims to assess the effects of intraovarian PRP therapy on ovarian function in women diagnosed with anovulatory cycles. Methods: The preliminary findings of this prospective cohort study are based on the first 32 patients enrolled. In this study, patients over 40 years old with anovulatory infertility were included. Venous blood samples were collected from each participant for the preparation of autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP). Each participant received two courses of intraovarian PRP injections using a transvaginal ultrasound-guided approach. Serum levels of reproductive hormones before and after PRP intervention were measured. Results: This study's results demonstrate a significant improvement in ovarian physiology following transvaginal ultrasound-guided PRP infusion. A 75% increase in Antral Follicle Count (AFC) was observed, which was statistically significant. Furthermore, statistically significant reductions in follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), and prolactin levels were observed. Serum Vitamin D 1–25 levels were substantially increased after the injection. Conclusions: These findings highlight the beneficial impact of intraovarian PRP injection in optimizing ovarian function and other metabolic parameters. However, the published literature on this subject is limited and further clinical studies should be conducted to confirm the role of intraovarian PRP in fertility treatments. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: The current study estimated the levels of anti mullerian hormone (AMH) and inhibin-B and reproductive hormones in non obstructive azoospermic (NOA) cases and obstructive azoospermic (OA) cases as well as comparing between them as regards the sensitivity and specificity in determining the sperm retrieval hope in the NOA cases. Finally, we analyzed any potential correlation between all the hormones measured in the current study. Methods: The current case control study was conducted at the andrology outpatient clinic from June (2021) to March (2022). The study recruited 135 participants divided equally into three groups NOA cases, OA cases and controls, respectively. Results: The mean inhibin-B was significantly lower in the NOA cases compared to the OA cases and the controls. There was a positive moderate correlation between AMH and Inhibin-B. Also, there was a positive moderate correlation between inhibin-B and free testosterone (FT) and positive weak correlation between beta Inhibin and leutinizing hormone (LH). Conclusions: The current study asserts the observation that inhibin-B is also expressed by Leydig cells as it has demonstrated positive correlations with FT and LH. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Heat stress (HS) disrupts testicular homeostasis because of oxidative stress. N‐acetylcysteine (NAC) is a thiol compound with antioxidants, anti‐inflammatory and anti‐apoptotic properties. As a sequel, this research aimed to assess the ameliorative effects of NAC supplementation on the reproductive performance of goat bucks kept under environmental HS. Primarily, Doppler examination as well as semen collection and evaluation were conducted on 12 mature bucks for 2 weeks (W) as pre‐heat stress control (W1 and W2) during winter (February 2023). The temperature–humidity index (THI) was 63.4–64.3 (winter season). Then during summer HS conditions (from the beginning of July till the end of August 2023) bucks were assessed before NAC supplementation (W0), afterwards they were arbitrarily assigned into two groups. The control group (CON; n = 6) received the basal diet while the NAC group (n = 6) received the basal diet in addition to oral NAC daily for 7 weeks (W1–W7). The THI was 78.1–81.6 (summer season). Testicular blood flow parameters, serum concentration of nitric oxide (NO) and testosterone were measured. Additionally, total antioxidant capacity (TAC) and malondialdehyde (MDA) content in seminal plasma and semen quality parameters were evaluated. There were marked reductions (p < 0.05) in the resistive index (RI; W1, W4 and W5), pulsatility index (PI; W2 and W4–W7), and systolic/diastolic ratio (S/D; W4–W7) in the NAC group compared to the CON group. Furthermore, testosterone and NO levels were higher (p < 0.01 and p < 0.05, respectively) in the NAC group (W2, W3, W5 and W3–W5, respectively). Seminal plasma TAC increased (p < 0.05) and MDA decreased (p < 0.05) in the NAC group (W2, W4 and W5) compared to the CON group. Moreover, there were marked improvements (p < 0.05) in semen quality parameters (mass motility, total motility, viability and normal morphology) in the NAC group. In conclusion, oral NAC supplementation could be used to enhance the reproductive performance of goat bucks during HS conditions which is supported by remarkable enhancement in testicular haemodynamics, NO, testosterone levels and semen quality parameters. Background: Poor male fecundity is of concern and warrants the identification of potential modifiable risk factors. Short and long sleep duration might be risk factors for poor male fecundity although evidence in this research field is inconsistent. Objectives: To investigate the association between sleep duration and biomarkers of male fecundity in young men. Materials and methods: We conducted a cross‐sectional study of 1,055 young men from the Fetal Programming of Semen Quality (FEPOS) cohort, Denmark, 2017–2019. Sleep duration was obtained from an online survey answered by the participants prior to the clinical visit, where semen and blood samples were obtained, and testis volume was self‐assessed using an Orchidometer. Percentage differences in semen characteristics, testes volume, and reproductive hormone levels were analysed according to sleep duration using multivariable negative binomial regression models. Sleep duration was dichotomised (recommended (6–9 h/night) versus deviant sleep) and visualised continuously as restricted cubic spline plots. Results: Deviation from recommended sleep duration was associated with higher high DNA stainability (HDS) of 5% (95% CI: −1%; 13%), higher testosterone of 3% (95% CI: 0%; 7%) and higher free androgen index (FAI) of 6% (95% CI: 0%; 13%). The spline plots overall supported these results, suggesting u‐shaped associations between sleep duration and HDS, testosterone and FAI, a linear association between sleep duration and semen volume and sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) and an inverse u‐shaped association with normal morphology. Discussion: Information on sleep duration was obtained by self‐report in broad categories with at least 3 h intervals. We were not able to investigate short or long sleep duration separately, since only few participants reported this. Conclusion: Sleep duration was associated with some biomarkers of fecundity in young men. Purpose: To investigate the protective effect of ethanol extract of rosemary leaf (EERL) (Rosmarinus officinalis L., family Lamiaceae) against testicular damage in streptozotocin (STZ) induced diabetes rats. Methods: The study involved four groups of rats (n = 6). Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) was induced by injection of 50 mg/kg of STZ. Group 1 served as the control (non-diabetic) group. Group 2 included T2D rats without treatment. Group 3 comprised T2D rats treated with EERL at 200 mg/kg. Group 4 consisted of T2D rats treated with EERL at a dose of 400 mg/kg. The extract was administered orally once a day for 4 weeks. Fasting blood glucose (FBG), serum testosterone, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH), and oxidative stress markers (superoxide dismutase (SOD), malondialdehyde (MDA), reduced glutathione (GSH), and glutathione peroxidase (GPx)) levels were assessed. Additionally, histopathological examination using H & E staining and immunohistochemical analysis was conducted to evaluate the expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) and caspase-3 in the testes. Results: Compared to the untreated T2D rats, EERL administration at 200 mg/kg and 400 mg/kg produced a significant decrease (p < 0.05) in FBG levels and elevated levels of serum testosterone, FSH, and LH hormones (p < 0.05). Additionally, EERL administration (both doses) compared to the untreated T2D group led to a significant (p < 0.05) reduction in testicular MDA content and significant (p < 0.05) enhancement of GSH, SOD, and GPx. Moreover, EERL exhibited potential inhibition of STZinduced testicular damage and successfully averted apoptotic reactions by significantly reducing caspase-3 expression. Conclusion: Ethanol extract of rosemary leaf (EERL) diminishes testicular damage, and counteracts oxidative burden and apoptosis in T2D rats. The present study sought to analyze the possible changes that might be caused by MSG and soybean on the secretion of both the male and female reproductive hormones in wistar rats. Two hundred and ten wistar rats (105 female and 105 male rats) were used for this study. The 105 female rats were equally divided into three groups representing the various experimental durations of 2, 4, and 6 months. Each of these groups consisting of 35 rats were further divided equally into 7 subgroups each containing 5 rats. 3 out of the 7 subgroups were orally administered MSG, another 3 out of the 7 subgroups were orally administered soybean according to the established LD50 as follows: 1000 mg/kg b.w (low dose, LD), 2000 mg/kg b.w (medium dose, MD), 3000 mg/kg b.w (High dose, HD) daily, while the 7th group served as the control group and was given only water and normal rat chow. The 105 male rats were also grouped in same manner and orally administered the MSG and soybean. The levels of LH, FSH, progesterone (PRG), oestrogen (E2) and testosterone were analyzed by ELISA technique. Long period administration of MSG significantly (p<0.05) decreased the levels of LH, PRG, E2 and FSH in the female rats when compared with the control group. Consumption of soybean for a long period of time significantly (p<0.05) decreased the level of E2 and FSH in the female rats, while short period administration significantly (p<0.05) increased the PRG level and long period administration significantly (p<0.05) decreased the PRG level in comparison with the control. Long and short period consumption of MSG as well as soybean significantly (p<0.05) decreased the levels of testosterone and LH in the male rats, while only long period administration of both significantly (p<0.05) decreased the level of FSH in the male rats when compared with the control group. The consumption of both small and large amounts of MSG and soybean elicit reproductive hormonal imbalance irrespective of the gender through the alteration of the levels of FSH, LH, E2, testesterone and PRG. Anxiety and depression are highly prevalent psychiatric disorders, affecting approximately 18% of the United States population. Evidence indicates that central oxytocin mediates social cognition, social bonding, and social anxiety. Although it is well-established that oxytocin ameliorates social deficits, less is known about the therapeutic effects of oxytocin in non-social contexts. We hypothesized that positive effects of oxytocin in social contexts are attributable to intrinsic effects of oxytocin on neural systems that are related to emotion regulation. The present study investigated the effect of intracerebroventricular (ICV) oxytocin administration (i.e., central action) on anxiety- and depression-like behavior in C57Bl/6J mice using non-social tests. Male and female mice received an ICV infusion of vehicle or oxytocin (100, 200, or 500 ng), then were tested in the elevated zero maze (for anxiety-like behavior) and the tail suspension test (for depression-like behavior). Oxytocin dose-dependently increased open zone occupancy and entries in the elevated zero maze and reduced immobility duration in the tail suspension test in both sexes. Oxytocin decreased anxiety and depression-like behavior in male and female mice. The observed effect of oxytocin on anxiolytic-like behavior appeared to be driven by the males. Given the smaller anxiolytic-like effect of oxytocin in the female mice and the established interaction between oxytocin and reproductive hormones (estrogen and progesterone), we also explored whether oxytocin sensitivity in females varies across estrous cycle phases and in ovariectomized females that were or were not supplemented with estrogen or progesterone. Oxytocin reduced anxiety-like behavior in female mice in proestrus/estrus, ovariectomized females (supplemented or not with estrogen or progesterone), but not females in metestrus/diestrus. Additionally, oxytocin reduced depression-like behavior in all groups tested with slight differences across the various hormonal statuses. These results suggest that the effect of oxytocin in depression- and anxiety-like behavior in mice can be influenced by sex and hormonal status.

Fine particulate matter (PM2.5) may disrupt women's reproductive hormones, posing potential reproductive risks. However, the exact compositions of PM2.5 responsible for these effects remain unclear. Our investigation explored the long-term impacts of PM2.5 constituents on reproductive hormones, based on a large longitudinal assisted reproductive cohort study in Anhui, China. We included 24,396 reproductive hormone samples from 19,845 women attending assisted reproductive technologies (ART) between 2014 and 2020. Using high-resolution gridded data (1-km resolution), we calculated the residence-specified PM2.5 constituents during the year before the month of hormone testing. Relationships between PM2.5 constituents [organic matter (OM), chloride (Cl-), sulfate (SO42-), ammonium (NH4+), black carbon, and nitrate] and reproductive hormones were investigated using the linear mixed model with subject-specific intercepts. The constituent-proportion model and the constituent-residual model were also constructed. Additionally, cubic spline analysis was used to examine the potential non-linear exposure-response relationship. We found that per interquartile range (IQR) increment in OM was associated with a 5.31 % (3.74 %, 6.89 %) increase in estradiol, and per IQR increment in Cl- and NH4+ were associated with 13.56 % (7.63 %, 19.82 %) and 9.07 % (4.35 %, 14.01 %) increases in luteinizing hormone. Conversely, per IQR increment in OM and Cl- were associated with −7.27 % (-9.34 %, −5.16 %) and −8.52 % (-10.99 %, −5.98 %) decreases in progesterone, and per IQR increment in SO42- was associated with a −9.15 % (-10.31 %, −7.98 %) decrease in testosterone. These associations were held in both proportional and residual models. Moreover, exposure-response curves for estradiol and progesterone with PM2.5 constituents exhibited approximately U-shaped. These results suggested that specific PM2.5 constituents might disrupt reproductive hormone homeostasis in women attending ART, providing new evidence for formulating PM2.5 pollution reduction strategies that could benefit women's reproductive health.

Maternal vitamin D levels during pregnancy may be important for reproductive health in male offspring by regulating cell proliferation and differentiation during development. We conducted a follow-up study of 827 young men from the Fetal Programming of Semen Quality (FEPOS) cohort, nested in the Danish National Birth Cohort to investigate if maternal vitamin D levels were associated with measures of reproductive health in adult sons. These included semen characteristics, testes volume, and reproductive hormone levels and were analysed according to maternal vitamin D (25(OH)D3) levels during pregnancy. In addition, an instrumental variable analysis using seasonality in sun exposure as an instrument for maternal vitamin D levels was conducted. We found that sons of mothers with vitamin D levels  75 nmol/L. Continuous models, spline plots and an instrumental variable analysis supported these findings. Low maternal vitamin D levels were associated with lower testes volume and lower total sperm count with indications of dose-dependency. Maternal vitamin D level above 75 nmol/L during pregnancy may be beneficial for testes function in adult sons.

Abstract Background Male infertility has become a global health problem, and genetic factors are one of the essential causes. Y chromosome microdeletion is the leading genetic factor cause of male infertility. The objective of this study is to investigate the correlation between male infertility and Y chromosome microdeletions in Hainan, the sole tropical island province of China. Methods We analyzed the semen of 897 infertile men from Hainan in this study. Semen analysis was measured according to WHO criteria by professionals at the Department of Reproductive Medicine, the First Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical University, where samples were collected. Y chromosome AZF microdeletions were confirmed by detecting six STS markers using multiple polymerase chain reactions on peripheral blood DNA. The levels of reproductive hormones, including FSH, LH, PRL, T, and E2, were quantified using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Results The incidence of Y chromosome microdeletion in Hainan infertile men was 7.13%. The occurrence rate of Y chromosome microdeletion was 6.69% (34/508) in the oligozoospermia group and 7.71% (30/389) in the azoospermia group. The deletion of various types in the AZF subregion was observed in the group with azoospermia, whereas no AZFb deletion was detected in the oligozoospermia group. Among all patients with microdeletions, the deletion rate of the AZFc region was the higher at 68.75% (44 out of 64), followed by a deletion rate of 6.25% (4 out of 64) for the AZFa region and a deletion rate of 4.69% (3 out of 64) for the AZFb region. Background:One of the common endocrine disorders is polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) with prevalence of about 5%–15% of women within reproductive age. It is related to androgen disturbance, obesity, and irregular menstrual cycle. Pineal gland secretes melatonin hormone, which is involved in the regulation of the circadian rhythm. Melatonin receptors in the ovary adjust sex steroid secretion. Furthermore, it is considered a strong antioxidant, which protects ovarian follicles during follicular maturation.Objectives:To evaluate the level of melatonin in patients with PCOS and its relation with reproductive hormones and anthropometric measures.Materials and Methods:A case-control study included 200 women in reproductive age (20–40 years), including 100 PCOS patients and 100 controls who appeared to be in generally good health. Anthropometric measurements were evaluated. Reproductive hormones and anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) were evaluated using the mini VIDAS method. Human MT (Melatonin) ELISA Kit from Elabscience source (USA) was used for measuring melatonin levels.Results:Luteinizing hormone/follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) ratio, AMH, and melatonin were significantly higher in PCOS women, whereas FSH level was significantly lower in PCOS compared with controls. There was an adverse relationship between melatonin levels with thigh circumference, waist circumference, and waist/hip ratio (P < 0.05). There was a significant adverse correlation between melatonin and testosterone hormone in PCOS patients (P < 0.05). Melatonin level showed an AUC of 0.755 at a cutoff point of 20 ng/mL and more, giving a sensitivity (78%) and specificity (75%).Conclusions:Although PCOS women had higher serum melatonin concentrations, their effect on ovarian hormones is diminished. Melatonin had a connection with androgen, and melatonin supplements may improve metabolic dysfunction in PCOS patients.

Objective(s): Male infertility is a major public health issue due to increased prevalence, so there is an urgent need for a therapeutic solution. The search for a natural dietary substance that could modulate redox balance and inflammation and protect testicular function is in demand. Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) has found use in the treatment of diabetes, and cancer owing to the presence of polyphenols. However, there is a dearth of information on its effect on testicular toxicity. The present study investigated VCO as a possible treatment for testicular toxicity in the Sodium Benzoate (SB) model of male infertility by evaluating the oxidative and inflammatory status, circulating hormonal levels, and key sperm indices.Materials and Methods: Twenty adult male rats were randomly assigned to four groups of 5 rats each and were treated with normal saline, sodium benzoate, sodium benzoate+5% VCO, and sodium benzoate+15% VCO for 30 days respectively. Biochemical analysis of reproductive hormones was assessed. Sperm parameters assessed include sperm function tests and sperm kinematics. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by post hoc Tukey tests was performed.Results: 5% VCO reverts the deranged serum reproductive hormones caused by sodium benzoate. 5% VCO was more potent as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory treatment than 15% VCO. However, both doses prevented SB’s effect on the sperm function test and kinematics.Conclusion: VCO-supplemented diet can ameliorate SB-induced testicular toxicity by inhibiting its mechanisms of toxicity that are related to oxidative stress, apoptosis, and inflammation.

Background: Studies exploring the effect of COVID-19 on male reproductive system suggest a detrimental association, however with conflicting results. The aim of this study was to assess the association between COVID-19 infection and male reproductive potential including hormone profiles and semen parameters. Methods: This prospective cohort study included 48 patients with confirmed COVID-19 infection. Patients were subdivided into an asymptomatic group (n = 30) and a group with COVID-19 symptoms (n = 18). Serum hormone levels including testosterone, LH, FSH and estradiol were collected during active infection (baseline, time 0), and at 3 and 6 months following COVID-19 infection. Semen samples (basic semen analysis and oxidation reduction potential) were examined at 3 and 6 months following infection. Student and paired-t tests were used to compare continuous variables between the study groups and across the studied time intervals, respectively. Multivariate binary logistic regression analysis was performed to explore predictors for COVID-19 symptoms during active infection. Results: Patients with COVID-19 symptoms were significantly older (p = 0.02) and had significantly lower serum testosterone levels (p = 0.01) and significantly higher LH: testosterone ratio (p = 0.01) than asymptomatic patients. Multivariate analysis revealed older age (OR = 1.18, p = 0.03) and lower serum testosterone level (OR = 0.8, p = 0.03) as independent predictors of symptomatic COVID-19 infection. Significant increase in testosterone (p < 0.001 for both) and decrease in LH (p = 0.02, p = 0.007) and LH: testosterone (p = 0.02, p = 0.005) levels were observed at 3 and 6 months in patients with COVID-19 symptoms. Asymptomatic patients demonstrated significant increase in testosterone (p = 0.02) and decrease in LH: testosterone (p = 0.04) levels only at 3 months following COVID-19 infection. No significant differences were observed between the two study groups with regards to the semen analysis results obtained at 3 or 6 months following COVID-19 infection. Conclusion: Significantly lower testosterone values are associated with worse disease severity among men with COVID-19 infection. This association appears to be temporary as a significant increase in testosterone levels are witnessed as early as 3 months following recovery. Ovulation is a vital sign, as significant as body temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure, in assessing overall health and identifying potential health issues. This study was conducted to investigate the possibility of increasing ovulation rate in Awassi ewes during their non-breeding season by a combination of equine chorionic gonadotropin (eCG) and inhibin antiserum. In a 52-day experiment, sixteen ewes were divided into two groups and the estrus synchronized by treated with an internal sponge saturated with 60 mg of progesterone for 12 days . Group A was treated with inhibin antiserum (4µg/kg) and eCG (400 IU), while Group B served as the control, receiving only eCG (400 IU). Hormonal levels were monitored through blood samples by ELISA technique, and pregnancy was confirmed via ultrasonography. The results were significant: Group A showed increased estrogen and FSH levels and a higher fetus count than Group B. This study suggests that using eCG and inhibin antiserum can effectively increase fecundity in Awassi ewes, offering a promising strategy for enhancing reproductive outcomes during their off-season. Purpose: To determine correlations between chemicals in follicular fluid (FF) and follicular reproductive hormone levels. Methods: The analysis was part of a larger cohort study to determine associations between exposure to EDCs and in vitro fertilization (IVF) outcomes. FF was aspirated from a single leading follicle per participant. Demographics and data on exposure to EDCs were self-reported by the participants using a questionnaire. The concentrations of estradiol (E2), progesterone (PG), anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH), and inhibin B, as well as that of 12 phthalate metabolites and 12 phenolic chemicals were measured in each FF sample. Multivariate linear regression model was used to identify the drivers of hormone levels based on participant's age, BMI, smoking status, and chemical exposure for the monitored chemicals detected in more than 50% of the samples. Benjamini–Hochberg false discovery rate (FDR) correction was applied on the resulting p values (q value). Results: FF samples were obtained from 72 women (mean age 30.9 years). Most of the phthalates and phenolic substances monitored (21/24, 88%) were identified in FF. Ten compounds (7 phthalate metabolites, 3 phenols) were found in more than 50% of samples. In addition, there were positive associations between E2 levels and mono-n-butyl phthalate (MnBP) (beta = 0.01) and mono-isobutyl phthalate (MiBP) (beta = 0.03) levels (q value < 0.05). Conclusion: Higher concentrations of several phthalate metabolites, present among others in personal care products, were associated with increased E2 levels in FF. Zinc (Zn) plays essential roles in numerous cellular processes. However, there is limited understanding of Zn homeostasis within the bovine reproductive system. This study investigated the influence of estradiol (E 2) and progesterone (P 4) on Zn transporter expression and intracellular free Zn levels in bovine oviduct epithelial cells (BOEC). For this purpose, cells were harvested from slaughtered cows and cultured in vitro. Intracellular Zn concentrations were measured using FluoZin-3AM staining, while real-time polymerase chain reaction assessed Zn transporter gene expression and quantification. Overall, our results confirmed the gene expression of all the evaluated Zn transporters (ZIP6, ZIP8, ZIP14, ZnT3, ZnT7 and ZnT9), denoted and the active role of E 2 and P 4 in intracellular Zn regulation. Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) are ubiquitous, toxic environmental chemicals that can cause adverse reproductive health effects. The objectives of this mini-review are to highlight the adverse reproductive outcomes due to PAH exposure with the main focus on polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and premature ovarian failure (POF) and to provide perspectives on future research needs. We reviewed studies that have reported the adverse reproductive outcomes associated with PAHs exposures in women through a comprehensive search of bibliographic databases and gray literature sources. In addition, potentially modifiable sources of exposure to PAHs and associated reproductive outcomes were also investigated. A total of 232 papers were retrieved through a comprehensive search of bibliographic databases, out of which three studies met the eligibility criteria and were included in the review. Results showed that exposure to PAHs is associated with adverse reproductive outcomes defined as PCOS, POF, and reproductive hormone imbalance. Sources of PAH exposure associated with adverse reproductive outcomes include active and passive tobacco smoking, specific cooking methods, and pesticides. Future studies are warranted to examine the mechanisms by which PAHs result in adverse reproductive endpoints in women. Further, environmental exposures that are potentially modifiable such as exposure to tobacco smoke, may contribute to PAH exposure, and these exposures should be targeted in future policies and interventions. Objective(s): Male infertility is a major public health issue due to increased prevalence, so there is an urgent need for a therapeutic solution. The search for a natural dietary substance that could modulate redox balance and inflammation and protect testicular function is in demand. Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) has found use in the treatment of diabetes, and cancer owing to the presence of polyphenols. However, there is a dearth of information on its effect on testicular toxicity. The present study investigated VCO as a possible treatment for testicular toxicity in the Sodium Benzoate (SB) model of male infertility by evaluating the oxidative and inflammatory status, circulating hormonal levels, and key sperm indices. Materials and Methods: Twenty adult male rats were randomly assigned to four groups of 5 rats each and were treated with normal saline, sodium benzoate, sodium benzoate+5% VCO, and sodium benzoate+15% VCO for 30 days respectively. Biochemical analysis of reproductive hormones was assessed. Sperm parameters assessed include sperm function tests and sperm kinematics. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by post hoc Tukey tests was performed. Results: 5% VCO reverts the deranged serum reproductive hormones caused by sodium benzoate. 5% VCO was more potent as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory treatment than 15% VCO. However, both doses prevented SB's effect on the sperm function test and kinematics. Conclusion: VCO-supplemented diet can ameliorate SB-induced testicular toxicity by inhibiting its mechanisms of toxicity that are related to oxidative stress, apoptosis, and inflammation. The present work aimed to evaluate the effects of Mangifera indica leaf powder (MLP) on reproductive hormones, biomarkers of oxidative stress and toxicity, growth and carcass characteristics of female Cavia porcellus. 40 female guinea pigs (Cavia porcellus L.) aged 2 months with an average weight of 257.65±11.28 g were used. These guinea pigs were weighed, then randomly divided into 4 groups of 10 animals each and subjected to the following rations: T0 (basic diet), T1, T2 and T3 (basic diet + 0.50; 0.75 and 1% MLP, respectively). For 45 days, the guinea pigs of all groups received ad libitum drinking water and the corresponding experimental rations. Reproductive hormones analyses showed a significant (P<0.05) rise in serum progesterone concentration in the highest dose of MLP-treated guinea pigs. Malondialdehyde level was lowest in guinea pigs given feed with the highest dose of MLP while superoxide dismutase and catalase activities were maximum in animals that received the highest doses of MLP. Total Peroxidase activity was greatest in animals fed with the higher MLP dose. The lowest level of cholesterol was noticed in the group that received the greatest dose of MLP. Feed consumption was higher in guinea pigs receiving 0.75% and 1% MLP. The body weight gain and average daily gain had higher values in the subjects fed with MLP feed than those of the control group. Feed efficiency values were improved in animals that that were given 0.5% and 1% MLP with regards to those fed without MLP, the length of small intestine was higher (P<0.05) in 0.75% MLP-treated animals than the other groups, while the greatest value for the density of big intestine was recorded in those that received 0.25% MLP. Purpose: Females with above‐average anterior knee laxity values are at increased risk of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of menarche age (MA) and menarche offset on anterior knee laxity in young, physically active women. Methods: Anterior knee laxity (KT‐2000) and menstrual characteristics (per self‐report) were recorded in 686 Slovenian sportswomen from team handball, volleyball and basketball club sports (average years sport participation: 7.3 ± 3.6 years). Females were stratified into four groups based on their self‐reported age at menarche: 9–11, 12, 13 and 14+ years. Anterior knee laxity was compared across MA groups using a univariate analysis of variance (ANOVA) with Bonferroni correction, with and without controlling for factors that could potentially differ between groups and influence anterior knee laxity. Females were then stratified into four groups based on the number of years they were away from their age at onset of menarche. Groups were compared using a univariate ANOVA with Bonferroni correction, with and without controlling for factors that differed between groups and could influence anterior knee laxity. Results: Anterior knee laxity was greater in females who attained menarche at 12 years of age (6.4 ± 1.5 mm) or younger (6.6 ± 1.6 mm) compared to 14 years of age or older (5.8 ± 1.2 mm) (p < 0.001; partial η2 = 0.032). Anterior knee laxity was 0.7–1.4 mm greater in females who were 5 or more years away from menarche compared to those who were within 2 years of menarche (5.8 ± 1.3 mm; p < 0.001). Conclusion: Anterior knee laxity is greater in females who attained menarche at a younger age and in females who are 5 or more years postmenarche. Age of menarche represents a critical pubertal event that is easy for women to recall and may provide important insights into factors that moderate anterior knee laxity, a risk factor for ACL injury in women. Bisphenol A (BPA), an acknowledged endocrine disrupter, is easily exposed to humans via food packaging and container. However, a consensus has not been reached on the extent to which BPA exposure affects the reproductive system. We therefore conducted this systematic review and meta-analysis to elucidate the relationship between BPA exposure and male reproduction-related indicators. Up to October 2023, a comprehensive search was carried out in the PubMed, Embase, Cochrane and Web of Science, and 18 studies were ultimately included. β coefficients from multivariate linear regression analyses were pooled using a random effects model. The results showed that the urinary BPA concentration was negatively correlated with the sperm concentration (β coefficient = −0.03; 95% CI: −0.06 to −0.01; I2 = 0.0%, p = 0.003) and total sperm count (β coefficient = −0.05; 95% CI: −0.08 to −0.02; I2 = 0.0%, p < 0.001). In addition, BPA concentrations were associated with increased sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) levels, increased estradiol (E2) levels, and reduced biologically active androgen levels. However, the relationship between an increased risk of below-reference sperm quality and BPA exposure was not robust. Objectives of the study: to investigate the peculiarities of the steroid hormone status in girls with menstrual function disorders, depending on comorbid psychopathology. Materials and methods. A total of 174 girls with menstrual function disorders (78 with abnormal uterine bleedings (AUB) and 96 with oligomenorrhea (OM)) were examined. The diagnosis of psychopathology was determined based on the clinical presentation at the time of examination. The comparison group consisted of 35 girls with a normal menstrual cycle. The laboratory examination included the assessment of estradiol, testosterone, cortisol (C), and dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEA-S) levels. The C/DHEA-S ratio was calculated using the unprocessed raw values. Results. Menstrual function disorders are often associated with hypoestrogenemia, a prevalent phenomenon. It was observed in almost a third of patients with AUB, whereas in girls with OM this number was significantly higher. Significant reduced values are found in girls with accompanying depressive states, especially in cases of AUB and OM. In instances of AUB and OM, the number of individuals with elevated levels of testosterone increased by 1.97–2.2 times in the presence of psychopathology. DHEA-S in patients with AUB was reduced in more than half of the girls, while in patients with OM it varies evenly in both directions, regardless of the presence or absence of psychopathology. A C level were more often reduced than increased, and achieves statistical significance when OM combined with neurotic disorders and AUB combined with depressive states. The C/DHEA-S ratio, as a stress indicator, was statistically significantly elevated in patients with AUB. This may suggest more pronounced manifestations of stress in patients with AUB than in girls with OM and a higher adaptability of the girls’ bodies with OM. Conclusions. Thus, the understanding of the role of reproductive steroids in the development of menstrual function disorders during adolescence has been deepened. Distinctive features of their interrelations in the presence of psychopathology have been identified. Abstract Background There are few studies on cryptorchidism in adults, and its treatment is still controversial. Methods To summarize the surgical strategy and clinical efficacy of laparoscopic orchidopexy for the treatment of cryptorchidism in adults, 37 adult cryptorchidism patients were retrospectively analyzed between September 2017 and February 2022. All 37 patients underwent laparoscopic orchidopexy, of whom 33 underwent inguinal hernia repair without tension. The intraoperative procedures and surgical techniques were recorded in detail. Preoperative examination and regular postoperative review of color Doppler ultrasound, and reproductive hormone, alpha-fetoprotein, human chorionic gonadotropin, and lactate dehydrogenase levels were performed. Results All testes descended successfully into the scrotum, including 25 through the inguinal route and 12 through Hesselbach’s triangle route. No intraoperative or postoperative complications were observed. The follow-up time was 38.6 (± 19.4) months, and no evidence of testicular malignancy was found during the follow-up period. After analyzing the reproductive hormone levels at 1 year postoperatively in 28 patients with more than 1 year of follow-up, it was found that the patients had a significant increase in testosterone levels and a decrease in follicle-stimulating hormone levels after surgery. None of the patients showed any significant improvement in semen quality after surgery. Conclusion Our study suggests that laparoscopic orchidopexy is a safe and feasible surgical procedure for the treatment of cryptorchidism in adults, especially high cryptorchidism, which is difficult to treat. After comprehensive consideration, preserving the testis should be preferred for treating cryptorchidism in adults to maximize the protection of the patient’s reproductive hormone secretion function.

Dietary fats serve a multitude of purposes in both humans and animals. They are a component of membranes and support the regulation of cellular influx and egress. They aid in the production of hormones, milk, embryonic, and foetal development, movement, and storage of energy, as well as absorption of fat-soluble vitamins. The objective of this review is to describe how dietary fats contribute to improved livestock reproductive performance. Data for this review study were acquired from recently published works in different journals. Databases were accessed using electronic data sources such as Google Scholar, PubMed, Science Direct, Research Gate, Web of Science, and the Directory of Open Access Journals. It is believed that dietary fats added to animal diets enhance animal reproduction by boosting the quantity and size of ovarian follicles and concentration of hormone progesterone plasma, declining the production of prostaglandin metabolites and increasing the lifespan of corpus luteum, which is also crucial for semen maturation, motility, and acrosomal reactions in addition to reproductive hormones. Therefore, it is important to employ dietary fats effectively to boost livestock reproduction and maximise animal output, which will achieve the relevant Sustainable Development Goals and food security.

Antarctic krill oil has been proven to be able to promote the ovarian development of crustaceans, but its optimal application dose and potential regulatory mechanism in Macrobrachium rosenbergii are still unclear. In this study, five isonitrogenous and isolipidic diets with gradient additions of Antarctic krill oil (0%, 1.5%, 3%, 4.5%, and 6%) were served exposed to 8 weeks of feeding. The results show that 3–4.5% Antarctic krill oil supplementation significantly increases the weight gain rate and specific growth rate of M. rosenbergii (p < 0.05). In addition, 3–4.5% Antarctic krill oil supplementation significantly increased the content of hemolymph vitellogenin (VTG) and the levels of reproductive hormones, including methyl farnesoate (MF), estradiol (E2), and progesterone (P4) (p < 0.05). The differences in ovarian index, oocyte volume, yolk granule deposition in oocytes, and the transcription levels of VTG genes in hepatopancreas and ovarian tissues demonstrated that the addition of Antarctic krill oil significantly promoted ovarian development and vitellogenesis, especially at the 4.5% addition level. In terms of molecular signaling, this study confirms that the retinol metabolic signaling pathway, MF signaling pathway, steroid hormone signaling pathway, and ecdysone signaling pathway, along with their specific molecules, such as Farnesoic acid-O-methyltransferase (FAMeT), retinoid x receptor (RXR), ecdysone receptor (EcR), and estrogen-related receptor (ERR), are involved in the regulation of the ovarian development of M. rosenbergii by adding Antarctic krill oil at appropriate doses. The findings indicate that the supplementation of 4.5% Antarctic krill oil in the diet is optimal for stimulating the secretion of reproductive hormones in female M. rosenbergii, thereby promoting vitellogenesis and ovarian development.

The purpose of this experiment was to study the effects of Chinese herbal medicine on the laying performance, egg quality, and serum indexes of Bashang long-tailed chickens in the late laying stage. A total of 240 Bashang long-tailed chickens aged 470 days were randomly divided into four groups with six replicates in each group and 10 chickens in each replicate. The control group was fed with basal diet, while the experimental groups were fed with 1.0%, 1.5%, and 2.0% Chinese herbal medicine additives, respectively. The pre-test period was seven days, and the formal test period was 56 days. The results showed that compared with the control group, the laying rate of the 1.5% dosage group increased significantly (/k0.05), and the average egg weight of the 1.0% and 2.0% dosage groups increased significantly (P<0.05). The Huff unit of the 1.0% and 1.5% dosage group tended to increase (jP>0.05), and the eggshell thickness of the 1.5% dosage group increased significantly (/kO.05). The activity of glutathione superoxide dismutase (GSH-Px) in serum of the 1.5% dosage group increased significantly (/k0.05). Serum levels of luteinizing hormone (LH), estradiol (E2) and progesterone (Prog) were significantly increased (P<0.01), and the serum levels of FSH were significantly increased in the 1.5% and 2.0% dosage groups (P<0.01). The serum levels of interferon-y (DFN-y) in the 1.5% and 2.0% dosage groups were significantly increased (PcO.Ol), and the serum levels of interleukin-2 (EL-2) in the 2.0% dosage group were significantly increased (fkO.Ol). The result shows that dietary Chinese herbal additives can increase laying rate, improve egg quality, enhance antioxidant capacity, promote the secretion of reproductive hormones, and improve the immune function of Bashang long-tail chickens in late laying period. This study was aimed to estimate the effects of women age on oocytes quantity and quality and to determine whether there is a correlation between serum and follicular hormone levels. The samples were collected in the higher institute for the diagnosis of infertility and assisted reproduction techniques, Baghdad, Iraq. The 60 participants were split into two age groups, G1involved women younger than 35, while G2 involved women older than 35 years of age. The levels of FSH, LH, AMH, and GH in the serum and follicular fluid (FF) could be measured using (ELISA). The results demonstrated differences in the serum levels of FSH, LH, AMH, and GH between the young and elderly groups of infertile women on the day of oocyte extraction.
