UD Mella Kreasi merupakan Industri Kecil Menengah (IKM) Furniture dan Handycraft, berlokasi di Serenan Klaten. Pihak manajemen UD Mella kreasi memaparkan masalah berkaitan dengan pengelolaan persediaan bahan baku, yaitu sistem pengelolaan yang kurang terstruktur, pencatatan manual yang rawan hilang, hingga beban kerja karyawan di UD Mella Kreasi yang terindikasi kurang seimbang di area produksi dan gudang. Digitalisasi sistem persediaan berpotensi menjadi alternatif solusi untuk mendukung UD Mella Kreasi. Sistem persediaan yang akan diimplementasikan di UD Mella Kreasi adalah aplikasi AirTable cloud, yaitu software open-source yang potensial dipergunakan sebagai sistem pencatatan persediaan berbasis cloud computing. Aplikasi ini tidak berbayar, tidak memerlukan investasi hardware memori, dan penggunaannya cukup sederhana sehingga sumber daya manusia di UD Mella Kreasi cukup mampu mengoperasionalkannya. Implementasi diawali dengan sosialisasi, pelatihan dan pendampingan. Setelah kurang lebih tiga bulan diimplementasikan, proses di gudang bahan baku dapat lebih teratasi oleh administrasi UD Mella Kreasi, sehingga lebih terstruktur, dan karyawan produksi tidak perlu lagi diperbantukan di gudang persediaan untuk menata, mencari, dan menstrukturkan kayu, rotan, dan bahan baku furniture yang lain.

Purpose: Rapid worldwide growth in megaprojects has attracted academic interest. In practice, complexity is one of the main causes for the failure of megaprojects. This study proposes a system of project manager leadership to overcome problems of complexity in achieving success with a megaproject.Design/methodology/approach: This study uses configuration analysis, fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA), to investigate the combination of complexity and leadership competencies that promote megaproject success. This study analyzes three megaproject manager leadership competencies—technical, emotional–social and adaptive—with three megaproject complexities—structural, social and emergent—to determine the combinations and levels required to ensure a megaproject’s short- and long-term success. Seven Indonesian infrastructure megaprojects were involved in this explorative study.Findings: This study has identified four combinations between complexity and leadership competencies and three necessary conditions that can lead to a successful megaproject. This study also reports that insufficient project manager leadership competence in the technical, emotional-social, and adaptive aspects can lead to lower megaproject performance.Research limitations/implications: By using fsQCA, this study is sufficient to understand the combination of complexity and leadership competencies in the megaproject performance. However, configuration comparative analysis using small samples is unable to explain results that are more rigorous when compared with the statistical approach. Having higher cases and additional analytical approaches that can lead to a more robust quantitative analysis method is strongly needed to address these limitations.Practical implications: For practitioners, this study proposes effective leadership competency combinations for managing various complexities of the megaproject.Originality/value: This study provides an insight into the competencies of megaproject management leadership. This study contributes to the literature by providing fresh perspectives on megaproject management, especially in terms of complexity and leadership. This is an important research area for the development of megaproject management theory as it fills theoretical gaps in megaproject management in terms of the leadership aspect.

Complexity has become an inseparable characteristic of construction megaprojects. Moreover, it has been identified as the cause of failure of megaprojects by practitioners. Researchers continue to explore complexity in megaprojects and are attempting to address it. This article aims to define complexity, examine its aspects, and look at the management approach in Indonesia's construction megaprojects from the project manager's perspective. The article is conducted based on the available literature and case studies in three Indonesian infrastructure megaprojects: the Trans-Island Highway, Indonesian Light Rail Transit, and Indonesian International Airport. This article notes that as practitioners, project managers are still focused on megaproject complexity from a negative perspective, perceiving it as an obstacle despite the fact that complexities can present positive opportunities. Complexity can be categorized into three aspects, namely, structural, social, and emergent. In this context, this report examines complexity management by studying various unique cases of Indonesian megaprojects. This article provides insight and knowledge to researchers with regard to aspects of management and megaproject complexity, especially in developing countries. For practitioners, this article provides management approaches that can be considered in the management of megaprojects.

This study aims to formulate a project manager’s leadership competency to manage megaproject’s complexity. Through qualitative literature exploration, this study integrates seven organizational leadership theories to develop megaproject leadership competency. Technical, emotional social and adaptive competencies are proposed as components of megaproject leadership competency that are crucial for managing structural, social, and emergent complexity. This study contributes to scholarship by giving insight into the leadership theories that potentially expanded the megaproject realm. For the practitioners, among others the project manager, this study gives a description of competencies that could be considered for managing megaproject complexity.

Purpose: Grounded to social identity and information decision theories, the study develops and empirically verifies a fresh theoretical model on the possible mediating effect of emotional and task conflicts toward the associations between diversity (work, social, and ideology) and project performance. Design/methodology/approach: A survey was performed, and 68 Indonesian start-ups provided positive responses accounting for a 57.6% response rate. In total, 102 Indonesian project teams participated, and since multiple team members were inquired for respective teams, 395 individual respondents were involved. An aggregation protocol was utilized to compute team-level datasets. The partial least square (PLS) method was utilized for the main analysis. Findings: The findings suggest a detrimental effect of heightened ideology polarization towards team performance as mediated by emotional conflict. Moreover, work diversity positively affects task conflict, but it does not positively affect team performance. Possible moderating variables such as cultural aspects may lessen the impact. Research limitations/implications: The study offers an updated theoretical model which pertains to diversity, conflict and performance. It also offers unique empirical evidence to examine the theoretical propositions within the setting of Indonesian start-ups. The sample size is rather limited even though it is substantially larger than similar past studies. This could result in a relatively low statistical power. Practical implications: It offers useful practical insights for start-ups to improve their project performance by looking at the intricate association between aspects of team diversity, conflict, and project success. Originality/value: This study extends the contemporary knowledge on diversity studies, by focusing on the project context of Indonesian start-ups.

Wilayah Polokarto, Sukoharjo dengan kondisi geografis 400 mdpl, mempunyai iklim tropis, kisaran suhu 25-280C dengan kelembapan udara mencapai 88%. Kondisi tersebut sangat sesuai untuk tumbuh kembang jamur tiram putih, tanpa ada rekayasa lingkungan. Kondisi ini mendukung masyarakat wilayah tersebut untuk berbudidaya jamur tiram. Seiring berkembangnya pembudidayaan jamur tiram di wilayah tersebut, teridentifikasi permasalahan berkaitan dengan limbah media baglog jamur tiram. Media baglog setelah melewati usia produktif (rata-rata 4 bulan) akan menjadi limbah padat. Pembudidaya jamur tiram di wilayah tersebut belum memanfaatkan limbah tersebut secara ekonomis. Solusi yang ditawarkan adalah dengan menjadikan limbah media tanam baglog menjadi bio briket. Bio briket dari limbah media tanam jamur tiram sangat bernilai ekonomis dan dapat dijual umum di pasaran. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian adalah implementasi teknologi tepat guna kepada mitra yang berupa alat produksi pengepres bio briket. Selain itu mitra juga diberikan sosialisasi dan pendampingan lapangan terkait dengan pengoperasian dan perawatan alat pengepres bio briket serta sosialisasi cara mengemas bio briket agar tampilan menjadi lebih menarik sehingga produk tersebut dapat dipasarkan kepada masyarakat umum. Selama kegiatan, mitra dilibatkan secara aktif mulai dari proses pengembangan alat hingga implementasinya. Hal ini bertujuan agar mitra memiliki kesadaran untuk menggunakan, merawat dan memanfaatkan teknologi yang telah diaplikasikan.

This paper aims to provide an overview of what a Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA) method is, its differences with the classical methods, the principles, and the QCA types. Literature studies and Indonesia megaproject case study is used to explain the concept of the QCA method. A comprehensive discussion of this paper produces a concise description of the QCA method that has the potential to be used to study multivariable research with small sample size. This study also succeeded in formulating a framework that can be used as a guide for researchers in determining when to use the QCA method.

Many megaprojects in the world fail. The complexity is considered as one of the causes of megaproject failure. However, the complexity concept in megaproject is still not been clear yet. This study is clarifying and providing an overview of how to overcome the complexity in megaproject context from the complexity theory perspective. The qualitative study approach based on literature exploration succeeds in expanding the complexity theory in organizational and project into the megaproject context. The complexity is a matter related to the relationship of activities, processes, and entities with varying levels of linearity and uncertainty. The megaproject complexity system consists of complicated, complex, chaotic, or even all three conditions occurred. In order to overcome the complexity, the megaproject management need be adjusted under its condition.

Complexity becomes one of the most significant challenges in megaprojects. Studies show that the majority of megaprojects did not successfully meet deadlines, specifications and costs. Limited studies have been successfully carried out to support it. Using Systematic Literature Review and Cochrane's method stages, this study explores academic literature to find research area that should be further studied. From 24 published articles, there are four scopes for future researches that must be more explored to support the success of megaprojects in developing countries. These areas are the study that discusses the possible interrelate nature among factors of complexity, the complexity that discusses the uncertainty and change (the 'emergent complexity'), the complexity problem at each stage of megaprojects, and the development of researches that integrates the methods of quantitative and qualitative.

Bearing is one of the most widely used parts in automotive industry. One of the leading bearing manufacturing companies in the world is SKF Indonesia. This company must produce bearing with international standard. SKF Indonesia must do continuous improvement in order to face competition. During this time, SKF Indonesia is only performing quality control at its Quality Assurance department. In other words, quality improvement at SKF Indonesia has not been done thoroughly. The purpose of this research is to improve quality of outer ring product at SKF Indonesia by conducting an internal grinding process experiment about setting speed ratio, fine position, and spark out grinding time. The specific purpose of this experiment is to optimize some quality responses such as roughness, roundness, and cycle time. All of the response in this experiment were smaller the better. Taguchi method and PCR-TOPSIS are used for the optimization process. The result of this research shows that by using Taguchi method and PCR-TOPSIS, the optimum condition occurs on speed ratio 36, fine position 18 µm/s and spark out 0.5 s. The optimum conditions result were roughness 0.398 µm, roundness 1.78 µm and cycle time 8.1 s. This results have been better than the previous results and meet the standards. The roughness of 0.523 µm decrease to 0.398 µm and the average cycle time of 8.5 s decrease to 8.1 s.Bearing is one of the most widely used parts in automotive industry. The management of megaproject is an emerging-topics to be studied by researchers. As an established management theory, quality management has a potential role to support studies and implementation of megaprojects. This study aims to explore the potential of Seven Management and Planning Tools (SMPT) in supporting megaproject management. A literature review method was utilized to analyse pertinent literatures that used the SMPT in megaproject studies. Based on 28 published articles, it is concluded that SMPT have been widely applied by scholars to analyse megaproject’s study in various aspects. In addition, based on the project guideline PMBOK and the international standard project management ISO 21500:2012, the SMPT have opportunity to support the megaproject practice in each stage. This preliminary study gives the potential chance for further studies related to the use of SMPT in megaproject’s real case as well as the opportunity to develop megaproject management tools specifically. These issues become a research opportunity in the field of quality management and megaproject management in the future.

Food safety is very crucial in the food industry. It is vital to producing a healthy food for consumers. This research is to determine the critical production processes that cause hazardous effects of the oyster mushroom chips production in a small and medium industry Boyolali Indonesia. Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) system was applied to analyze the process. HACCP which used in this research was based on the seven principles in SNI (Indonesian National Standard) 01-4852-1998. The seven principles included hazard analysis, Critical Control Point (CCP) determination, critical limit establishment, CCP monitor system establishment, corrective action establishment, verification, and also documentation establishment that must be applied in preparing HACCP plan. Based on this case study there were 5 CCP that has potential hazard: the water used for washing the mushroom, the boiling process, the frying process, the chips draining process, and the packaging process.

Experiments the deep fryer and the spinner for productipn the oyster mushroom chips was needed to optimize the setting level optimally. The purpose of this experiment was to obtain the oyster mushroom chips with water content, and fat content optimized simultaneously. These experiment used the Taguchi and the PCR-TOPSIS method. Improved the quality of products and processes as well as in reduced the cost and resources to a minimum by Taguchi Method. The ability of a process to meet design specifications set by PCR method. The optimal combination multiresponse obtained by Technique for Order Performance by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). The target both of this experiment response were smaller the better. Based on the result of multiresponse experiment analysis, optimal setting of this conditions was the combination of a factor of the type of flour at 80% rice flour and tapioca flour 20%, the factor of frying temperature at 150–160°C, and the factor of time for the draining process in 1 minute.

Every company always improve its competitiveness, especially in reducing all sources of waste. PT. X is a major national company in Indonesia which concerned in the food processing industry with one of the main featured products is dried vermicelli. The effective use of machines is the main concern to achieve the production target and minimize the waste. Relating to these problems, the purpose of this study is to measure the effectiveness of extrusion-cutting machine in the manufacturing process of dried vermicelli production in PT. X using Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) indicator. Field observation and interview methods are used to collect data. The data are then processed to obtain OEE value for extrusion-cutting machine. From the calculation of OEE value, it is clear that the machine in the extrusion-cutting has low OEE values at around 64% to 77% and far under the OEE world standard value of 85%.

Color is one of the things that can affect the consumers' buying decisions since it becomes the first impression of consumer's eye. Every consumer has their own perception about the color, including the emotional impression appeared. For instance is the color in car exterior. This paper aimed to rate the emotional impression of Indonesian consumers on city car exterior. There are six colors favored by the consumers and each color has their own representation of customer's emotional impression. To elucidate these emotional impression, factor analysis were performed on data on emotion variables. The result of these analysis shown that black is elegant and simple, silver is decent and simple, blue is bright and feminine, grey is suitable and masculine, dark red is modern and feminine, and white is luxury and feminine. The result can be used by car manufacturers in preparing market-specific automotive-color.

In Indonesia, ginger simplisia's (dried form) quality standards is regulated in SNI 01-7087-2005. The conventional drying method, direct open sun drying, has several weaknesses. It could reduce the quality of products that do not meet standards. Relating with these problems, one of the improvement efforts that can be done is by using the solar dryer technology. In this study, design and prototype of the mixed passive solar dryer has been made. Then, the solar dryer was tested to evaluate its performance. Tests were done through simulation and direct (prototype) tests. Based on the results of simulation and prototype tests, the performance of solar dryer designed was quite satisfactory (temperature ranges between 40-60°C). ANOVA and t-tests showed that there were no differences in temperature between each racks in each heat sources. In addition, based on the validation test there were no significant differences between the measurement results of the simulation and prototype tests.

Perusahaan Daerah Air Minum (PDAM) Solo selain memberikan pelayanan air bersih juga memberikan pelayanan pengelolaan air limbah rumah tangga, instansi, dan komersial. Pelayanan pengelolaan air limbah tersebut dilakukan oleh PDAM menggunakan Instalasi Pengolahan Air Limbah (IPAL). Lumpur buangan hasil pengolahan limbah tersebut belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal. Dalam penelitian ini dilakukan pemanfaaatan limbah lumpur IPAL PDAM sebagai campuran pembuatan lapisan atas paving block. Metode Taguchi digunakan dalam penelitian ini untuk menentukan setting faktor optimal yang mempengaruhi karakteristik kualitas paving block. Berdasarkan Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI) No. 03-0691-1996, terdapat tiga karakteristik kualtas paving block yaitu kuat tekan, daya serap air, dan laju keausan. Selain itu, digunakan response surface methodology (RSM) untuk membantu menentukan hubungan antara karakteristik kualitas dengan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhinya. Hasil eksperimen menunjukkan setting level optimal diperoleh pada faktor ukuran maksimum agregat 10 mm, faktor air semen 0,3 dan 0,35 serta jumlah persentase lumpur yang digunakan sebesar 10%. Pemanfaatan lumpur IPAL PDAM Semanggi Solo dapat menghasilkan paving block dengan kualitas C Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI) No. 03-0691-1996 untuk kuat tekan dan mutu A untuk segi serapan air dan laju keausan.
