Simple Summary: Breast cancer is the most common cancer type and the leading cause of mortality for women worldwide. The microbiome influences various cancer therapies, including radiotherapy. Thus, radiotherapy-derived metabolites and microbiome composition may affect cancer progression and treatment response, and vice versa. This review explores this bidirectional relationship as well as providing current evidence and future perspectives in this field. The gut microbiome has emerged as a crucial player in modulating cancer therapies, including radiotherapy. In the case of breast cancer, the interplay between the microbiome and radiotherapy-derived metabolites may enhance therapeutic outcomes and minimize adverse effects. In this review, we explore the bidirectional relationship between the gut microbiome and breast cancer. We explain how gut microbiome composition influences cancer progression and treatment response, and how breast cancer and its treatments influence microbiome composition. A dual role for radiotherapy-derived metabolites is explored in this article, highlighting both their therapeutic benefits and potential hazards. By integrating genomics, metabolomics, and bioinformatics tools, we present a comprehensive overview of these interactions. The study provides real-world insight through case studies and clinical trials, while therapeutic innovations such as probiotics, and dietary interventions are examined for their potential to modulate the microbiome and enhance treatment effectiveness. Moreover, ethical considerations and patient perspectives are discussed, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the subject. Towards revolutionizing treatment strategies and improving patient outcomes, the review concludes with future research directions. It also envisions integrating microbiome and metabolite research into personalized breast cancer therapy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: The incidence of mental health issues in children is increasing worldwide. In Chile, a recent surge in reports of deteriorating mental health among school populations and an increase in complaints related to poor school climate have been observed. Physical activity, specifically active breaks in the classroom, has shown positive effects on children's health. However, evidence regarding its impact on mental health and school climate in children is limited. Objective: This work outlines the design, measurements, intervention program, and potential efficacy of the "Active Classes + School Climate and Mental Health" project. This project will assess a 12-week program of active breaks through guided videos with curricular content in the school classroom, and its effects on mental health and school climate as its primary indicators. Additionally, it will measure physical activity, physical fitness, motor competence, and academic performance in students aged 6-10 years in the Biobío province, Chile, as secondary indicators. Methodology: A multicenter randomized controlled trial involving 823 students from 1st to 4th grade (6-10 years old), six schools (three intervention and three control) will be conducted in the Biobío region, Chile. Participants belonging to the intervention group will implement video-guided active breaks through the "Active Classes" web platform, featuring curricular content, lasting 5-10 min and of moderate to vigorous intensity physical activity, twice a day, Monday to Friday, over a span of 12 weeks. Expected Results/Discussion: To our knowledge, this will be the first study in Chile to evaluate the effects of incorporating video-guided active breaks with curricular content on mental health variables and school climate in schoolchildren. Thus, this study contributes to the scarce evidence on the effects of video-guided active breaks on mental health variables and school climate in schoolchildren worldwide. Additionally, it will provide crucial information about active teaching methodologies that have the potential to positively contribute to the wellbeing of students, thus addressing the problems of mental health and climate in Chilean schools. BODY composition ,PHYSICAL fitness ,MUSCLE strength ,DIASTOLIC blood pressure ,WAIST circumference - Abstract
Objective: This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to determine the benefits of an exercise intervention based on small-sided soccer games (SSSGs) on health-related physical fitness and cardiometabolic health in previously untrained children and adolescents. Methods: A systematic search on PubMed/MEDLINE, Web of Science, Scopus, Cochrane, and EBSCO databases was performed. Randomized or non-randomized controlled trials conducted in previously untrained children or adolescents (age < 18 years) that assessed the effect of SSSG-based intervention on health-related physical fitness and cardiometabolic risk biomarkers were included. Primary outcomes were cardiorespiratory fitness and waist circumference. Evidence was synthesized as the mean difference or standardized mean difference using a random-effects meta-analysis. The quality of evidence was assessed using ROB2 and ROBINS-I tools. Results: Sixteen studies (n = 2872 participants) were included in this meta-analysis. SSSGs significantly improved cardiorespiratory fitness (SMD, 0.12 [0.01; 0.23]) and showed a non-significant trend in decreased waist circumference (−7.49 cm [−15.03; 0.06]). Additionally, SSSGs significantly decreased systolic (MD, −3.85 mmHg [−5.75; −1.94]) and diastolic blood pressure (MD, −1.26 mmHg [−2.44; −0.08]) and triglycerides (−30.34 mg·dL
−1 [−45.99; −14.69]). No effects on body composition or other cardiometabolic risk biomarkers were observed. After a sensitivity analysis, waist circumference and muscle strength were also shown to improve significantly following SSSGs. Comparisons between SSSG and other types of exercise interventions showed no differences in improved physical fitness or cardiometabolic risk. Conclusions: SSSG-based interventions effectively improve cardiorespiratory fitness, blood pressure, triglycerides, muscle strength, and waist circumference. There is less evidence of the effects of SSSGs on other health markers. Particular attention should be given to improving SSSG protocol reporting in future studies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]- Published

The validation of evaluation instruments such as the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) in healthcare education is crucial for precise clinical skills assessments, which are requisites for professional practice. This study aims to validate an OSCE designed specifically for physical therapy students enrolled in the electrophysical agents course. A non-experimental cross-sectional study included 167 fourth-year students (86 men, 79 women, average age 21 years ±1.3) at Andres Bello University. The OSCE, comprising five stations (S1-S5) assessing electrophysical agent applications, constituted 30% of the course grade. Stations evaluated generic skills, clinical reasoning, and practical abilities with checklists. Statistical Analysis KR-20 for internal consistency and exploratory factor analysis for construct validity, with the removal of criteria with low correlations and high eigenvalues to refine the instrument. Descriptive statistics indicated a non-normal score distribution (p<0.01) across stations. Notably, stations S1 (connective tissue flexibility) and S5 (equipment installation) exhibited notable performance. The KR-20 statistic showed that most stations had high (S2-S4) or very high (S1, S2) reliability. Analysis by domain revealed low internal consistency (<0.4) for generic and practical skills, specifically for S3 (drainage), S4 (strengthening), and S5 (equipment installation). Factor analysis identified underlying latent variables, particularly in S2, S3, and S4. Refinement led to the removal of 6,7, and 3 criteria from S1, S2-S4, and S5, respectively, resulting in improved reliability and construct validity in the instrument. The enhancements in validity and internal consistency, justifying the removal of the generic domain. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Basic motor skills are the basis for the formation and execution of movements that will be utilized throughout an individual's lifetime, thus promoting their involvement and continued participation in physical activity. (1) Background: This study aimed to assess the impact of a physical education program, based on a model of structured and unstructured physical activity, on the motor development of kindergarten students at a private school for girls in Con Con, Chile. (2) Methods: Thirty-four female students were divided into two groups, one participated in structured physical activity and the other in unstructured physical activity, and both groups then underwent a 12-week intervention. The Test of Gross Motor Development-2 (TGMD-2) was utilized to evaluate motor behaviors, and the data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and relative frequencies. The Wilcoxon test was used to compare differences at the beginning and end of the intervention, while the Whitney–Mann U test was used to determine differences between groups. (3) Results: Statistically significant differences were observed in the overall group when comparing the start and end of the intervention for total motor development (p = 0.001), locomotion skills (p = 0.018), and object control (p = 0.001). However, no significant differences were found between the two types of intervention activities. (4) Conclusions: This study suggests that both structured and unstructured physical activity interventions enhance overall motor development, particularly in the dimensions of locomotion and object control. The results indicate that unstructured physical activity interventions may lead to better outcomes in motor development tests compared to structured interventions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Study purpose. The aim of this systematic review was to evaluate the effects of post-activation potentiation/post- activation performance enhancement (PAP/PAPE) warm-up protocols on swimmers' performance. Materials and methods. The searches were carried out on the electronic database PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and EBSCO platforms. Studies from 2010 to May 2022 related to PAP/PAPE and its effect on swimming performance in swimmers aged between 18 and 35 were included. Results. Nine of 333 studies were included in this review. In two studies, peak thrust improved by 13% to 19% for PAP vs non-PAP and by 3% on performance. One study showed improvements by 10% on speed and speed fluctuation in 25 m all-out PAP vs non-PAP. Rate of force development (RFD) 15 m maximum effort was higher for dry land warm up (DLWU) than swimming warm up (SWU). One study had higher velocity in 5 m for repetition maximum warm-up (RMWU) and eccentric fly-wheel warm-up (EWU) vs SWU. One study demonstrated enhancements for upper-body PAP (UBPAP), low-body PAP (LBPAP) and MIX (UBPAP/LBPAP) vs warm up based on general exercises (GEN) in time to 25 m freestyle (T25FS). Two studies found improvements for band squats PAP compared to swimming specific warm up (SSWU) in time to 15 m. One study demonstrated that PAP trial (PAPT) was faster than control time trial (CTT) in 50 m and 100 m freestyle trial. Dive velocity (DV) was faster for RMWU/EWU vs SWU. One study showed significant increase in power vertical force (PVF) and power horizontal force (PHF) after the PAP vs SSWU. Conclusions. PAP/PAPE is one more tool that can be beneficial if adapted to the conditions of swimmers, controlling fatigue levels, where it is performed (land or water), and most importantly, described by many coaches, the specificity of movement. - Abstract
Introduction: Changes in behaviors or adoption of unhealthy lifestyles are present with the evolution of age and the modification of educational environments. This review aims to identify the existing scientific evidence around the behavior toward physical activity in leisure time and the evolution of the intention to be physically active during the school transition to university in university students from the Theory of Self-determination, the Theory of Behavior Planned and the Trans-Contextual Model. Method: 472 original articles in SPORTDiscus and manual search, up to June 2019, of which 54 studies met inclusion criteria. Results: The Self-determination Theory was the most widely implemented in the selected studies. The combination of theories has expanded the possibility of analyzing behavior towards physical activity from other constructs. Conclusions: Significant and positive associations between social support, the satisfaction of basic psychological needs and self-determined motivation, favor the intention and actual practice of physical activity, if perceived barriers are reduced and gender and context differences are taken into account; School transition processes favor adherence to an active lifestyle, if there are positive experiences perceived in physical education class, extracurricular physical activity and physical activity promoted in the university environment., Introducción: Cambios en las conductas o adopción de estilos de vida poco saludables están presentes con la evolución de la edad y la modificación de entornos educativos.

Abstract Introduction: The low levels of maximum oxygen consumption (VO2max) evaluated in Chilean schoolchildren suggest the startup of trainings that improve the aerobic capacity. Objective: To analyze the effect of a High-intensity Interval Training method on maximum oxygen consumption in Chilean schoolchildren. Materials and methods: Thirty-two high school students from the eighth grade, who were divided into two groups, were part of the study (experimental group = 16 students and control group = 16 students). The main analyzed variable was the maximum oxygen consumption through the Course Navette Test. A High-intensity Interval training method was applied based on the maximum aerobic speed obtained through the Test. A mixed ANOVA was used for statistical analysis. Results: The experimental group showed a significant increase in the Maximum Oxygen Consumption between the pretest and posttest when compared with the control group (p < 0.0001). Conclusion: The results of the study showed a positive effect of the High-intensity Interval Training on the maximum consumption of oxygen. At the end of the study, it is concluded that High-intensity Interval Training is a good stimulation methodology for Chilean schoolchildren.

- Abstract
Problem statement: Although the evidence indicates that fundamental movement skills (FMS) are the building blocks to master complex and specific movements, are a component of physical development as well as a key prerequisite to develop adequate physical activity levels (PAL), this relationship remains underexplored in preschoolers. Purpose: To analyze the association between FMS and PAL identifying differences by age as well as determining which skills have the greatest influence on preschool children complying with the World Health Organization (WHO) PA Guidelines. The sample included 95 preschoolers (59 boys) aged 4 to 6 years (5.5 ± 0.6 years) participating in a national program implemented by the Chilean Sports Ministry. FMS were measured using the TGMD (2nd edition); we considered the raw assessment scores and converted them into percentiles, while PAL, was assessed objectively using a triaxial accelerometer ActiGraph GT3X and Actilife-6 software. Moderate and vigorous physical activity was dichotomized into active (=60 min/d) or inactive (=60 min/d). Logistic regressions were used to determine associations among variables by age, adjusting by sex, nutritional status and time spent in sedentary behavior. Analysis of FMS scores and minutes spent at each PAL determined which skills had the greatest impact on children being active, at p = 0.05, using Stata 15 software. Results No associations among subscales for locomotor skills and PAL were found (p=0.662), object control (p=0.264), or total score (p=0.704); however, FMS was associated with age. Preschoolers aged 5 and older who engaged in =60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity (MVPA) showed higher FMS, particularly in object control. Conclusion This study found no significant association between FMS and PAL in preschoolers, however a positive association was observed between FMS with age. Our study also supports the importance that FMS have for preschoolers in achieving WHO's guidelines for PA. Specifically, object control development at 5 years old may be key in obtaining a greater PAL. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Introduction. Children's engagement in vigorous-intensity physical activity is more effective in improving fitness than moderate-intensity physical activity. However, there is limited information about the effect of vigorous-intensity physical education classes on daily physical activity levels. Objective. Compare the contribution of high and moderate-intensity physical education classes by assessing 5 daily physical activity level classifications[sedentary time (ST) and time of light (LPA), moderate (MPA), vigorous (VPA), and moderate-vigorous physical activity (MVPA)] in 9-10-year-old students. Materials and methods. A total of 66 students were recruited with a mean age of 9.48 ± 0.5 years. The participants were assigned to 2 groups: high-intensity activity and moderate-intensity activity. The physical activity level was assessed by accelerometry (Actigraph wGT3X-BT). The Wilcox on signed-rank test was used for the pre and post-intervention statistical analysis. Results. No significant differences were observed in ST (1993.0 min; 1980.5 min, p = 0.429), LPA (800.5 min; 817.3 min, p = 0.191), MPA (67.7 min; 65.4 min, p = 0.299), VPA (18.7 min; 16.5 min, p = 0.098), and MVPA (86.4 min; 82.0 min, p = 0.267) for the high-intensity activity group. For the moderate-intensity activity group, no significant differences were observed neither for ST (1893.5 min; 1959.7 min, p = 0.170) nor for LPA (873.4 min; 845.4 min, p = 0.545). Compared to the high-intensity activity group, the moderate-intensity activity group exhibited a significant reduction in MPA (91.0 min; 63.2 min, p = 0.000), VPA (22.0 min; 11.6 min, p = 0.011), and MPVA (113.0 min; 74.8 min, p = 0.001). Conclusion. High-intensity physical activity did not significantly contribute to an increase in physical activity levels among different intensities (LPA, MPA, VPA, MVPA) but did not decrease them either. Nevertheless, moderate-intensity physical activity decreased the levels of MPA, VPA, and MVPA per day. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The aim of this study is to review the published literature on the effectiveness of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) interventions on cardiorespiratory fitness and body composition in preadolescents. Method: The databases used in the study were: PubMed, SPORTDiscus and Google Scholar. We included studies published from 2005 to 2016. The included studies consider: children, examined health-related fitness outcomes, involved an intervention of ≥2 weeks, included a control or moderate intensity comparison group, or both, and prescribed high intensity activity. Results: HIIT was associated with improvements in cardiorespiratory fitness in 9 of the 10 studies. In body composition, the improvements were less evident; on body mass index (2 studies), skinfolds (1 study) and on the percentage of body fat (4 studies). Conclusion: HIIT in preadolescents could be an efficient approach for improving cardiorespiratory fitness; nevertheless, its effect on body composition is still unclear., Revisar literatura publicada acerca de los efectos del entrenamiento intervalado de alta intensidad (HIIT) sobre la aptitud cardiorrespiratoria y la composición corporal en preadolescentes.

BODY composition , *MILITARY readiness , *PHYSICAL fitness , *ADIPOSE tissues , *MUSCLE mass - Abstract
Military readiness relies heavily on the physical fitness and operational capability of its personnel. This study aims to enhance the effectiveness of body composition assessment and classification protocols within the military context. A comprehensive evaluation of 4370 active-duty Chilean military personnel was conducted, focusing on anthropometric characteristics, including adipose tissue, muscle tissue, and anthropometric indices. The study observed significant differences in body composition between genders, with men exhibiting lower levels of body fat percentage (men: 26.28 %; women: 34.62 %) but higher levels of muscle mass (men: 42.0 %; women: 36.0 %;), skeletal muscle index (men:11.81; women: 9.31), and fat-free mass index (men: 19.92; women: 18.45) compared to women. High levels of muscle tissue were observed in both groups. By integrating these findings into a standardized assessment protocol, a more accurate classification of military personnel was achieved, surpassing traditional methods used in sedentary obese populations. The study advocates the future adoption of an assessment model based on artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms, which consider the multifaceted nature of body composition and its impact on operational capability. Such a model would enable military forces to optimize their personnel's physical fitness and readiness, thus enhancing their effectiveness in deployment operations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
