2. The Ecology of Resilience Learning in Ubiquitous Environments to Adverse Situations

Abstract

Basic Education in Mexico faces growing challenges arising from the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). However, formal education requires a critical and contextualized awareness that rescues the experiences of students to resignify adverse situations, while emphasizing resilience from learning ecologies. The objective of this document is to account for the ubiquitous learning acquired by nine distance education, secondary students in a rural context of Hidalgo, Mexico and the benefits of raising awareness of their own learning ecology. Emphasis is placed on the resignifying process that emerged through the different communication channels. The study presents results of a case approached with a mixed methodology, by means of a phenomenological, multisource, quantitative and qualitative information triangulation with hermeneutic analysis, organized in three stages, by means of a questionnaire, semi-structured interviews, focal groups and the use of Google Classroom. The hermeneutic analysis of autobiographies and the use of technological resources boosted the personal analysis of experiences generating learning that may be invisible in formal education, but which might empower the students' critical thinking, collaboration and autonomy to become aware of their own learning and the scope of their social contribution throughout their lives.

3. Trace elements and lipidomic datasets of stranding samples in the blubber of Turpsios truncatus from the Yucatan coast: Association with biological features

Abstract

The Yucatan coastal zone is an area that contributes to many anthropogenic activities resulting in substantial contamination (metals, pesticides) in aquatic organisms. The dolphin is an excellent sentinel animal used in studying contamination in this area. Some substances found in dolphins have been identified as toxic causing alterations in the properties of membranes and produce lipid peroxidation especially heavy metals. The dataset presented here is associated with the research article paper entitled “Trace element and lipidomic analysis of bottlenose dolphin blubber from the Yucatan coast: Lipid composition relationships”. In this article, we presented the trace element concentrations found in blubber and their comparison with other studies performed in mammal marine organisms. Lipidomic characterization of bottlenose dolphin blubber and their association with trace elements and the differences related to biological characteristics were presented. This data provides a correlation analysis between trace element concentrations, lipid species and body length and the lipid differences related to biological characteristics such as growth stage, stranding code, and the presence of stomach contents. We used Spearman correlation analysis to identify the association with body length, trace elements and lipids. Wilcoxon rank-sum test was used to determine differences in lipids related to stranding code (3: moderate decomposition, 4: advanced decomposition), growth stage (juveniles and adults) and whether they showed presence of stomach contents or not. The data indicates that Cr, Cd and Zn concentrations were higher compared to concentrations found in blubbler of T. truncatus from other studies (See Table 3). Cr, Co, As and Cd were found in higher concentration in larger organisms compared to smaller ones. The results of correlation between lipids and body length showed a decrease in some ceramides (CER, DCER, HCER), sterols (CE), glycerolipids (TAG, DAG) and phosphatidylethanolamines (LPE, PE) in larger dolphins (Table 4). Dolphins with advanced decomposition (code 4) showed lower concentrations of phosphatidylethanolamines (PE) compared with organisms with moderate decomposition (code 3). Organisms with empty stomachs showed higher concentrations of phosphoethanolamines suggesting a preferential metabolism of energy-rich lipids over structural lipids. The information in these datasets may contribute to understanding the potential associations of trace elements, lipids and their associations with biological characteristics.

Abstract

Sanitary landfill leachate (SLL) is a mixture of highly toxic and recalcitrant pollutants that threatens the water quality of the Yucatán Peninsula karst aquifer, one of the most extensive aquifers on the planet. To reduce the adverse environmental impacts of this wastewater, a triple-stage Fenton process (FP) was applied in an old SLL. Removal efficiencies were evaluated in terms of physicochemical variables, metal(oid)s concentrations, mass spectrometric identification of organic compounds and Daphnia magna acute toxicity test. The triple-stage FP achieved an 88% chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal, representing an improvement of 13% compared to FP performed in a single stage. Further, metal(oid)s such as aluminum, arsenic, chromium, nickel and zinc as well as organic compounds were substantially reduced. With respect to acute toxicity, the treatment produced a 64% reduction. Thus, this treatment system seems to be an effective option to reduce the dangerous level of SLL.

Abstract

Primary education in Mexico is facing a growing set of challenges that the government has tried to counteract through the use of communication technologies (ICT) in formal education. While these efforts provide support for students and educators, there remains a need for a renewed and contextualized awareness that will re-conceptualize the adverse experiences of students and the importance of resilience in the context of the learning environment. The objective of this document is to give an account of the learning acquired by nine telesecondary students in a rural area of Hidalgo and the student’s benefits of building awareness about the ecology of learning. The paper highlights the process of re-envisioning their experiences that emerged from the various points of views shared in discussion. The study was triangulated by quantitative and qualitative phenomenological and hermeneutical analyses. It was organized into three stages and employed a survey, semi-structured interviews, focus groups and use of the Google-Classroom platform. The hermeneutical analysis of autobiographies and the use of technological resources enhanced the personal analysis of the experiences of the participants. These experiences generated learning that may often be invisible in formal education but can empower critical thinking, collaboration and autonomy of students to become aware of their learning and the scope of their social contribution.

Abstract

La pandemia global por COVID-19 incidió aún más en la urgencia de preparar a la humanidad para sobrevivir ante situaciones críticas. Los vínculos de afectividad son una fuente para la resiliencia familiar. El objetivo de este artículo es presentar los primeros datos de una investigación exploratoria, no experimental para destacar si la percepción del vínculo era distinta en dos grupos independientes. Un cuestionario basado en el modelo de resiliencia familiar de Walsh fue aplicado a 388 participantes de España y México. Se utilizó la prueba estadística no paramétrica de Mann - Whitney para contrastar las respuestas, además del análisis de indicadores sociodemográficos para diferenciar los vínculos. Los hallazgos mostraron que no existen diferencias significativas entre los dos grupos respecto a la necesidad de generar vínculos afectivos para reforzar la resiliencia de cada uno de los integrantes y fortalecer la resiliencia familiar ante la crisis global.

11. La resiliencia matemática en estudiantes de un bachillerato rural

Abstract

El proceso escolar del aprendizaje de la matemática regularmente provoca emociones que afectan la confianza, la seguridad y el bienestar del estudiantado. El artículo presenta resultados de resiliencia matemática en una muestra de 41 estudiantes de primer semestre de un bachillerato rural en México. Se utilizó una metodología mixta con un diseño exploratorio secuencial derivativo. Los resultados más significativos señalan que las creencias del estudiantado acerca de sí mismo y su relación con la matemática son aspectos que influyen en el interés, la motivación y el esfuerzo por aprender; sin embargo, aunque en la mayoría de los resultados se perciben creencias rígidas y negativas, se encontraron algunas que se inclinan a la mentalidad de crecimiento, a la toma de conciencia para asignar valor a la matemática, el esfuerzo para perseverar en su aprendizaje y al saber que las relaciones pueden superar obstáculos en su aprendizaje. Finalmente, se corrobora que, si se pretende mejorar la enseñanza y aprendizaje de la matemática, es conveniente desarrollar entornos de aprendizaje que promuevan la resiliencia matemática a través de crear ambientes de respeto que fortalezcan la autonomía, establecer estrategias que desafíen y retroalimenten el aprendizaje, así como implementar el trabajo en equipo y la colaboración.

Abstract

Se denomina colecistitis a la inflamación de la vesícula biliar, la resolución es mediante el procedimiento quirúrgico denominado colecistectomía y la vía laparoscópica representa hasta en 75.7% del total de los procedimientos realizados. El personal de enfermería tiene un papel fundamental en el área quirúrgica pues realiza diversas intervenciones encaminadas a disminuir o minimizar las respuestas humanas reales o potenciales deseadas o no en un paciente, vinculando el Proceso Enfermero con el uso de las taxonomías NANDA, NOC y NIC interrelacionado las GPC, los Algoritmos de Atención Clínica, las Acciones Esenciales para la Seguridad del Paciente y las Metas Internacionales, lo que fortalece la Práctica de Enfermería Basada en Evidencias con el uso de los Indicadores de Calidad. Se presentan las cinco etapas del Proceso Enfermero, mediante la valoración de enfermería por método focalizado y patrones funciones, diagnóstico enfermero, jerarquización de diagnósticos, planeación de las intervenciones y ejecución de estas en el transoperatorio y su evaluación pre y post intervención. Puntuación diana y una serie de recomendaciones para optimizar las intervenciones de enfermería.

17. Conductas de autocuidado en estudiantes de enfermería

Abstract

La obesidad y el sobrepeso se definen como “una acumulación anormal o excesiva de grasa que puede ser perjudicial para la salud”. En México la prevalencia de obesidad y sobrepeso tanto como en los niños como los adultos ha incrementado las últimas tres décadas y esto ha provocado que actualmente México sea uno de los países con mayor prevalencia de obesidad en el mundo. Objetivo: Determinar la capacidad de autocuidado de los estudiantes de enfermería mediante la evaluación de aspectos de su estilo de vida que repercuten en el riesgo de padecer obesidad y sobrepeso. Método: Se realizó un estudio descriptivo transversal, aplicando un instrumento cuantitativo a 43 estudiantes de 3ero a 6to semestre de la licenciatura en Enfermería de una universidad pública del Estado de Hidalgo. Resultados: El 21% de la población presenta un IMC indicativo de sobrepeso mientras que el 14% presenta algún tipo de obesidad. El 46.5% realiza al menos 3 comidas al día de las cuales el 27.9% son alimentos de comida rápida y el 58.1% señaló comer cereal o sándwich. Además, el 62.8% indica no realizar actividad física. Conclusiones: El 97.7% de los estudiantes conoce el autocuidado y tiene en cuenta la serie de elementos que este implica, pero a pesar de conocer dichos factores el estudio refleja presencia de sobrepeso y obesidad, así como de conductas no saludables en la comunidad estudiantil.

Abstract

Significance\ud \ud Communicating in ways that motivate engagement in social distancing remains a critical global public health priority during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study tested motivational qualities of messages about social distancing (those that promoted choice and agency vs. those that were forceful and shaming) in 25,718 people in 89 countries. The autonomy-supportive message decreased feelings of defying social distancing recommendations relative to the controlling message, and the controlling message increased controlled motivation, a less effective form of motivation, relative to no message. Message type did not impact intentions to socially distance, but people’s existing motivations were related to intentions. Findings were generalizable across a geographically diverse sample and may inform public health communication strategies in this and future global health emergencies.\ud \ud \ud \ud Abstract\ud \ud Finding communication strategies that effectively motivate social distancing continues to be a global public health priority during the COVID-19 pandemic. This cross-country, preregistered experiment (n = 25,718 from 89 countries) tested hypotheses concerning generalizable positive and negative outcomes of social distancing messages that promoted personal agency and reflective choices (i.e., an autonomy-supportive message) or were restrictive and shaming (i.e., a controlling message) compared with no message at all. Results partially supported experimental hypotheses in that the controlling message increased controlled motivation (a poorly internalized form of motivation relying on shame, guilt, and fear of social consequences) relative to no message. On the other hand, the autonomy-supportive message lowered feelings of defiance compared with the controlling message, but the controlling message did not differ from receiving no message at all. Unexpectedly, messages did not influence autonomous motivation (a highly internalized form of motivation relying on one’s core values) or behavioral intentions. Results supported hypothesized associations between people’s existing autonomous and controlled motivations and self-reported behavioral intentions to engage in social distancing. Controlled motivation was associated with more defiance and less long-term behavioral intention to engage in social distancing, whereas autonomous motivation was associated with less defiance and more short- and long-term intentions to social distance. Overall, this work highlights the potential harm of using shaming and pressuring language in public health communication, with implications for the current and future global health challenges.

20. Síndrome de Burnout en estudiantes de enfermería

Abstract

Introducción: Las instituciones de educación superior suelen ser lugares altamente estresantes, en dichas instituciones los alumnos se enfrentan de manera cotidiana a una serie de demandas que bajo su propia valoración se constituyen en situaciones generadoras de estrés, estas situaciones cuando son prolongadas y frecuentes pueden conducir al Síndrome de Burnout. Objetivo: Determinar la presencia del Síndrome de Burnout en los estudiantes de la Licenciatura en Enfermería. Material y Método: Se realizó un estudio no experimental, transversal, observacional, se consideró un muestreo no probabilístico, se solicitó la partición de los alumnos de 5to semestre inscritos en la carrera de enfermería del instituto de ciencias de la salud (ICSa) de la Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo (UAEH). Resultados: Del 100% de los participantes el 12% se encuentran en el nivel severo de Burnout, el 70% se encuentran en el nivel moderado de Burnout y el 18% no presentan el Síndrome de Burnout. Además, observamos que las dimensiones más alteradas fueron “Agotamiento emocional” y “Despersonalización. Conclusión: Al igual que los trabajadores formales, los estudiantes universitarios pueden llegar a encontrarse en condiciones de padecer riesgos y daños psicosociales ante estresores y demandas concurrentes, excesivas o inapropiadas, crónicamente irresueltas o de forma inadecuada, dependientes de los contextos organizacionales universitarios del trabajo académico de los estudiantes, por lo que es importante continuar explorando el tema y plantear estrategias para intervenir oportunamente ante casos de síndrome de burnout académico.

No obstante, la situación que en estos momentos ataña a la sociedad a nivel mundial ha obligado a las autoridades escolares a llevar a cabo las Prácticas Profesionales de los estudiantes en enfermería en una modalidad virtual como una manera de salvaguardar la salud de la comunidad universitaria y la sociedad en general.

Abstract

Nielsen et al. (1) argue that Van Doesum et al. (2) need to consider three points for their interpretation of a positive association between individual-level social mindfulness (SoMi) and environmental performance (EPI) at the country level (3). The association is weaker when 1) it is controlled for GDP and 2) when the data of three countries are removed; also, 3) the data do not address the association between SoMi and individual-level environmental concern. We discuss these points in turn.

Abstract

This N = 173,426 social science dataset was collected through the collaborative COVIDiSTRESS Global Survey – an open science effort to improve understanding of the human experiences of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic between 30th March and 30th May, 2020. The dataset allows a cross-cultural study of psychological and behavioural responses to the Coronavirus pandemic and associated government measures like cancellation of public functions and stay at home orders implemented in many countries. The dataset contains demographic background variables as well as measures of Asian Disease Problem, perceived stress (PSS-10), availability of social provisions (SPS-10), trust in various authorities, trust in governmental measures to contain the virus (OECD trust), personality traits (BFF-15), information behaviours, agreement with the level of government intervention, and compliance with preventive measures, along with a rich pool of exploratory variables and written experiences. A global consortium from 39 countries and regions worked together to build and translate a survey with variables of shared interests, and recruited participants in 47 languages and dialects. Raw plus cleaned data and dynamic visualizations are available.

Abstract

Humans are social animals, but not everyone will be mindful of others to the same extent. Individual differences have been found, but would social mindfulness also be shaped by one's location in the world? Expecting cross-national differences to exist, we examined if and how social mindfulness differs across countries. At little to no material cost, social mindfulness typically entails small acts of attention or kindness. Even though fairly common, such low-cost cooperation has received little empirical attention. Measuring social mindfulness across 31 samples from industrialized countries and regions (n = 8,354), we found considerable variation. Among selected country-level variables, greater social mindfulness was most strongly associated with countries' better general performance on environmental protection. Together, our findings contribute to the literature on prosociality by targeting the kind of everyday cooperation that is more focused on communicating benevolence than on providing material benefits.

Abstract

Sanitary landfill leachate (SLL) is a mixture of highly toxic and recalcitrant pollutants that threatens the water quality of the Yucatán Peninsula karst aquifer, one of the most extensive aquifers on the planet. To reduce the adverse environmental impacts of this wastewater, a triple-stage Fenton process (FP) was applied in an old SLL. Removal efficiencies were evaluated in terms of physicochemical variables, metal(oid)s concentrations, mass spectrometric identification of organic compounds and Daphnia magna acute toxicity test. The triple-stage FP achieved an 88% chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal, representing an improvement of 13% compared to FP performed in a single stage. Further, metal(oid)s such as aluminum, arsenic, chromium, nickel and zinc as well as organic compounds were substantially reduced. With respect to acute toxicity, the treatment produced a 64% reduction. Thus, this treatment system seems to be an effective option to reduce the dangerous level of SLL.

Breast cancer in the young has gained increased attention with an attempt to improve diagnosis and prognosis. Young patients tend to have different epidemiology, presenting with later stages and more aggressive phenotypes. Diagnostic imaging is also more difficult in this age group. Multidisciplinary care generally encompasses surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists, and social workers. Other special considerations include reconstruction options, fertility, genetics, and psychosocial issues. These concerns enlarge the already diverse multidisciplinary team to incorporate new expertise, such as reproductive specialists and genetic counselors. This review encompasses an overview of the current multimodal treatment regimens and the unique challenges in treating this special population. Integration of diagnosis, treatment, and quality of life issues should be addressed and understood by each member in the interdisciplinary team in order to optimize outcomes. Abstract

Lately, neuroscience has proven key in providing scientific answers to research conducted in other disciplines. Resilience, from the point of view of neuroscience, takes on a new meaning due to the lockdown experienced under the COVID-19 pandemic. This article is the result of an investigation carried out during confinement in Spain, Mexico and Chile. It shows the preliminary results of the analysis of stress risk factors and resilience in neuroscience, identifying possible stress risk factors using socio-demographic data. A descriptive, cross-sectional, correlational and comparative study was conducted in a sample of 784 participants. The Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC10) was used to identify resilience traits. The findings reveal a non-significant result among the countries, but statistically significant results in the level of education variable, which is associated with cognitive flexibility. The possible stress risk factors did not evince significant results. Thus, promoting resilience at an early age comes as a relevant finding. As argued by epigenetics, to immerse oneself in contexts where meaningful bonds are promoted, is essential to improve vital processes such as resilience and prevent potential stress risk factors.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic (and its aftermath) highlights a critical need to communicate health information effectively to the global public. Given that subtle differences in information framing can have meaningful effects on behavior, behavioral science research highlights a pressing question: Is it more effective to frame COVID-19 health messages in terms of potential losses (e.g., “If you do not practice these steps, you can endanger yourself and others”) or potential gains (e.g., “If you practice these steps, you can protect yourself and others”)? Collecting data in 48 languages from 15,929 participants in 84 countries, we experimentally tested the effects of message framing on COVID-19-related judgments, intentions, and feelings. Loss- (vs. gain-) framed messages increased self-reported anxiety among participants cross-nationally with little-to-no impact on policy attitudes, behavioral intentions, or information seeking relevant to pandemic risks. These results were consistent across 84 countries, three variations of the message framing wording, and 560 data processing and analytic choices. Thus, results provide an empirical answer to a global communication question and highlight the emotional toll of loss-framed messages. Critically, this work demonstrates the importance of considering unintended affective consequences when evaluating nudge-style interventions.

Abstract

La Educación Básica en México contempla desafíos crecientes a los que se enfrenta mediante el uso de Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación (TIC). Sin embargo, en la educación formal se requiere detonar una toma de conciencia crítica y contextualizada que rescate las experiencias del estudiantado para resignificar situaciones adversas, así como dar importancia a la resiliencia a partir de las ecologías del aprendizaje. El objetivo de este documento es dar cuenta de los aprendizajes ubicuos que adquirieron nueve estudiantes de telesecundaria en un contexto rural de Hidalgo y los beneficios de la concienciación de la propia ecología del aprendizaje. Se hace énfasis en el proceso de resignificación que emergió a través de las diferentes aristas de comunicación. El estudio presenta resultados de un caso abordado con una metodología mixta por medio de una triangulación de información multifuente, cuantitativa y cualitativa fenomenológica con análisis hermenéutico, organizada en tres etapas, mediante un cuestionario, entrevistas semiestructuradas, grupos focales y uso de la plataforma Google Classroom.El análisis hermenéutico de las autobiografías y el uso de recursos tecnológicos potenció el análisis personal de experiencias generadoras de aprendizajes quizá invisibles en la educación formal, pero que pueden empoderar el pensamiento crítico, la colaboración y autonomía del estudiantado para la toma de conciencia de sus propios aprendizajes y el alcance de su aportación social a lo largo de su vida, Primary education in Mexico is facing a growing set of challenges that the government has tried to counteract through the use of communication technologies (ICT) in formal education. While these efforts provide support for students and educators, there remains a need for a renewed and contextualized awareness that will re-conceptualize the adverse experiences of students and the importance of resilience in the context of the learning environment. The objective of this document is to give an account of the learning acquired by nine telesecondary students in a rural area of Hidalgo and the student’s benefits of building awareness about the ecology of learning. The paper highlights the process of re-envisioning their experiences that emerged from the various points of views shared in discussion. The study was triangulated by quantitative and qualitative phenomenological and hermeneutical analyses. It was organized into three stages and employed a survey, semi-structured interviews, focus groups and use of the Google-Classroom platform. The hermeneutical analysis of autobiographies and the use of technological resources enhanced the personal analysis of the experiences of the participants. These experiences generated learning that may often be invisible in formal education but can empower critical thinking, collaboration and autonomy of students to become aware of their learning and the scope of their social contribution

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has a tremendous effect on many aspects of human lives and turns the normal and usual way of living into a new normal. The new normal in education brought new and strange experiences in the academe due to the sudden closure of school which led to the mandatory implementation of distance learning. In this regard, this study was conducted to explore the learning experiences and the quality of learning as perceived by the distant learners. The purposive sampling technique was utilized by the researchers and identified 25 junior high school students where data had been collected. Considering the safety protocols and the participants of the study which are minors, the data were collected from recorded interviews using messenger and audio recording applications. Experiences encountered by distant learners, learning strategies to cope with distant learning, and Quality of learning acquired based on the perception of distant learners were the themes that emerged in the study. This study showed that distance learning provides learners with new and unique learning experiences that the students must adapt to. Adaptation of learners in the demand of distance learning has been achieved by the learners through individual learning strategies and relied on the support given by friends and members of the family. Furthermore, the study also revealed that the quality of learning that students acquired in distance learning are not comparable with the quality of learning acquired by the students in physical or face-to-face classes. Results of this study convey that educational institutions may consider recalibrating the strategies in giving quality education in distance learning that could equate if not surpass the quality of learning that students acquired in the face-to-face learning setup. &nbsp

Contains fulltext : 284232.pdf (Publisher’s version ) (Closed access) The COVID-19 pandemic (and its aftermath) highlights a critical need to communicate health information effectively to the global public. Given that subtle differences in information framing can have meaningful effects on behavior, behavioral science research highlights a pressing question: Is it more effective to frame COVID-19 health messages in terms of potential losses (e.g., "If you do not practice these steps, you can endanger yourself and others") or potential gains (e.g., "If you practice these steps, you can protect yourself and others")? Collecting data in 48 languages from 15,929 participants in 84 countries, we experimentally tested the effects of message framing on COVID-19-related judgments, intentions, and feelings. Loss- (vs. gain-) framed messages increased self-reported anxiety among participants cross-nationally with little-to-no impact on policy attitudes, behavioral intentions, or information seeking relevant to pandemic risks. These results were consistent across 84 countries, three variations of the message framing wording, and 560 data processing and analytic choices. Thus, results provide an empirical answer to a global communication question and highlight the emotional toll of loss-framed messages. Critically, this work demonstrates the importance of considering unintended affective consequences when evaluating nudge-style interventions. 26 p.

Abstract

Komatsu et al. (1) argue that Van Doesum et al. (2) may have overlooked the role of GDP in reporting a positive association between social mindfulness (SoMi) and the Environmental Performance Index (EPI) at country level. Although the relationship between EPI and SoMi is relatively weaker for countries with higher GDP, that does not imply that the overall observed relationship is a statistical artifact. Rather, it implies that GDP may be a moderator of the relationship between EPI and SoMi. The observed correlation is a valid result on average across countries, and the actual effect size would, at least to some degree, depend on GDP.

Abstract

The study of moral judgements often centres on moral dilemmas in which options consistent with deontological perspectives (that is, emphasizing rules, individual rights and duties) are in conflict with options consistent with utilitarian judgements (that is, following the greater good based on consequences). Greene et al. (2009) showed that psychological and situational factors (for example, the intent of the agent or the presence of physical contact between the agent and the victim) can play an important role in moral dilemma judgements (for example, the trolley problem). Our knowledge is limited concerning both the universality of these effects outside the United States and the impact of culture on the situational and psychological factors affecting moral judgements. Thus, we empirically tested the universality of the effects of intent and personal force on moral dilemma judgements by replicating the experiments of Greene et al. in 45 countries from all inhabited continents. We found that personal force and its interaction with intention exert influence on moral judgements in the US and Western cultural clusters, replicating and expanding the original findings. Moreover, the personal force effect was present in all cultural clusters, suggesting it is culturally universal. The evidence for the cultural universality of the interaction effect was inconclusive in the Eastern and Southern cultural clusters (depending on exclusion criteria). 46. Conocimiento de la técnica de automonitoreo de glucosa en pacientes con diabetes en un municipio del Estado de Hidalgo

Abstract

Introducción: Existen varios tipos de diabetes dependiendo de su causa. Las personas con diabetes pueden tener elevaciones o disminuciones de los niveles de manera inesperada. Es necesario monitorear los niveles de glucosa, para detectar y prevenir la aparición de complicaciones. Objetivo: Evaluar el conocimiento de la técnica de automonitoreo de glucosa en pacientes con Diabetes Mellitus tipo 2. Material y método: Investigación de tipo no experimental, transaccional, descriptivo. Una muestra de 30 adultos mayores con Diabetes Mellitus tipo 2, muestreo no probabilístico por conveniencia. Se aplicó un instrumento validado “Conocimiento de la técnica de automonitoreo en pacientes con Diabetes Mellitus tipo 2”, del autor Fogel Gerardo, con 22 ítems, se entregó consentimiento informado. Resultados: El promedio de edad fue de 61 años (DE=9.290; 45- 88), con una prevalencia del sexo femenino del 67%, de ocupación Ama de Casa del 60% y un grado de escolaridad primaria de 37%. Se identificó que el 100% de la muestra cuenta con glucómetro propio, en cuanto al conocimiento de la técnica de automonitoreo, se observó que el 60% realiza su automonitoreo por la mañana y que el 70% lo realizan una vez al día. El 40% tienen el conocimiento correcto sobre los valores normales de glucosa, mientras que el otro 60% tienen un conocimiento erróneo Conclusiones: Existe la falta de conocimiento sobre la técnica de automonitoreo en gran parte de los pacientes diabéticos del Centro de Salud del Municipio del Arenal, Hidalgo; ya que poco más de la mitad no llegan a identificar pasos básicos para una adecuada técnica de automonitoreo

Objetivo: Determinar factores interpersonales que influyen en el embarazo adolescente. Material y método: Estudio correlacional, transversal y descriptivo, no experimental. Una muestra de 31 adolescentes embarazadas del Centro de Salud Dr. Jesús Corona del Rosal de Pachuca Muestreo no probabilístico por conveniencia. Se utilizaron dos instrumentos; el primero elaborado por las autoras, mide “Factores interpersonales que influyen en el embarazo”; validado, con 27 ítems de opción múltiple, el segundo PSS-Fa (Perceived social support from family) de los autores: González Ramírez, R. Landero Hernández (2012) con un Alfa de Cronbach 0.758. Resultados: el promedio de edad fue de 16 años (DE = .703:16 - 18). El 77% está en unión libre, el 52% se dedica a las actividades del hogar. El 65% tiene acceso al seguro popular, el 94% considera que la relación con su pareja es estable. El 68% inicio a consumir alcohol a los 16 años y solo el 1% lo hizo durante su embarazo. El 64% no sabe el significado de educación sexual. El 84% desconoce que es un método anticonceptivo. El 83% refiere sentirse apoyada por su familia. Conclusión: De acuerdo con los datos obtenidos, el factor interpersonal que influye en el embarazo adolescente es la falta de conocimientos sobre temas de educación sexual.
