While this is driven in large part by the demanding nature of their work and low wages, another factor may be that HHAs are often not considered part of the medical team which can leave them feeling unheard by other healthcare professionals. We sought to determine whether this concept, or HHAs’ perceived voice, was associated with job satisfaction.Methods and Design: This cross-sectional survey of English- and Spanish-speaking HHAs caring for adults with heart failure (HF) was conducted from June 2020 to July 2021 in New York, NY in partnership with a labor management fund of a large healthcare union that provides benefits and training to HHAs. Voice was assessed with a validated 5-item scale (total score range 5 to 25). Job Satisfaction was assessed with the 5-item Work Domain Satisfaction Scale (total score range 5 to 35). Multivariable linear regression analysis was used to examine the association between voice and job satisfaction.Results: A total of 413 HHAs employed by 56 unique home care agencies completed the survey; they had a mean age of 48 years, 97.6% were female, 60.2% were Hispanic, and they worked as HHAs for a median of 10 years (IQR, 5, 17). They had a median Voice score of 18 (IQR 15– 20) and mean job satisfaction score of 26.4 (SD 5.6). Higher levels of voice (1.75 [0.46– 3.04]) were associated with greater job satisfaction (p=0.008). When adjusting for Race/Ethnicity, HF training, and HF knowledge, the association between Voice and job satisfaction remained significant ((1.77 [0.40– 3.13])Conclusion: HHAs with a voice in the care of their patients experienced greater job satisfaction. Voice may be an important target for interventions aiming to improve HHAs’ retention in the field.Keywords: long-term care, home health aide, communication, healthcare team

6. From one crisis to another. Tourism and housing in post-crisis Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Canary Islands, Spain)

Abstract

[eng] More than one decade after the global crisis of 2008 had started, many Spanish cities entered a phase of post-crisis, marked by a positive macroeconomic setting. Tourism, as a coping strategy, has contributed to this growth, but it has also led to numerous conflicts, summarized by the emerging discussion about overtourism. In Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Spain), the arrival of short-term rentals is associated with a new crisis on the housing market, as the city shows one of the highest growth rates in rental prices in Spain and a severe shortage on the rental market. This paper analyzes how local stakeholders perceive the ongoing process between crisis, post-crisis and overtourism using qualitative interviews. The conducted material reveals that the housing crisis is linked to the effects of overtourism. However, the causes are multi-faceted and a consequence of the 2008 crisis. This is shown by different aspects, such as housing supply, socio-economic vulnerabilities of residents and political issues. Tourism and housing are both cause and result of this complex relationship between crisis and post-crisis. En Santa Cruz de Tenerife, se plantea la hipótesis de que la llegada de la vivienda vacacional ha provocado una nueva crisis en el mercado inmobiliario, ya que la ciudad muestra una de las mayores tasas de crecimiento en los precios de alquiler en España y una escasez en el mercado. Este ensayo analiza como los actores locales perciben esta situación entre crisis, postcrisis y sobreturismo mediante entrevistas cualitativas. El material revela que la crisis de la vivienda está vinculada a los efectos del sobreturismo. Sin embargo, las causas son multifacéticas y una consecuencia de la crisis de 2008. Esto se muestra en la producción de viviendas, las vulnerabilidades socioeconómicas y cuestiones políticas. El turismo y la vivienda son a la vez causa y resultado de esta compleja relación entre crisis y post-crisis. Por lo tanto, las estrategias de afrontamiento deben abordar las estructuras subyacentes para superar los síntomas de la crisis.

Abstract

Durch den sich abzeichnenden Klimawandel gilt es, Städte und Regionen an die klimaschützenden Vorgaben sowie die Folgen des Klimawandels im Sinne "klimagerechter Räume" anzupassen. Diese Anpassungen erfordern zudem eine sozialgerechte Ausrichtung sowie eine Überprüfung der bisherigen Steuerungsformen. Vor diesem Hintergrund wurden auf der wissenschaftlichen Konferenz "Anderes Klima. Andere Räume! Zum Umgang mit Erscheinungsformen des veränderten Klimas im Raum." des ISB Lösungsbeiträge diskutiert. Ziel der Konferenz war eine Auseinandersetzung mit den Zusammen¿hängen zwischen Klima und Raum, Unternehmung und Steuerung.Inhalt des Sammelbandes sind die Vorträge der Tagung. Die Keynotes leuchten die Themenfelder Klima, Wahrnehmung und Steuerung aus. Die Beiträge der Sessions untersuchen verschiedene Dimensionen der Vulnerabilität, die Energiepolitik vor dem Hintergrund des Klimawandels, die Stadt und ihre Häuser, Veränderungen der Wasserkreisläufe sowie Akteure und ihre Handlungsmöglichkeiten.Die Beiträge zeigen das vielschichtige Spektrum der derzeitigen Forschungsaktivitäten im Gebiet der raumbezogenen Klimafolgenforschung auf. Sie liefern wertvolle methodische Ansätze und erste thematische Erkenntnisse. Sie sollen Positionen aufzeigen und zum Disput herausfordern.

Measurements of R , sphericity and thrust are presented for c.m. energies between 12 and 31.6 GeV. A possible contribution of a t continuum can be ruled out for c.m. energies between 16 and 31 GeV.
